Promise, the follow-up album of their multi-million selling debut album Diamond Life, was released in 1985 and includes typical Sade songs and hit singles like "The Sweetest Taboo", "Never as Good as the First Time", "Is It a Crime" and "Jezebel".
Promise became the band's first album to top the albums chart in both the United Kingdom and the United States, assisted by an appearance at the Live Aid charity concert and a cameo in the film Absolute Beginners.
Over the years, Promise was certified double platinum in the UK, and quadruple platinum in the US, with Sade herself returning again as the queen of cool.1. Is It A Crime

The MackWhen an act called Sisters Love were offered a cameo in the blaxploitation film The Mack, their manager suggested that Willie Hutch do the soundtrack. It came to be one of the great '70s film scores, including a pair of classic funk tunes, Brothers Gonna Work It Out and the title cut. The results proved to be another soundtrack that far surpassed the quality of its film.

Eleven ElevenOn Dave Alvin's new album Eleven Eleven, the man who many credit with pioneering what has come to be known as 'roots rock,' revisits the burning, guitar-centered blues-rock that initially defined his career along with his band The Blasters in the late 1970s.
After The Blasters, Alvin explored the path of American folk music, a road that led to classic albums and Grammy wins (for his album Public Domain: Songs from the Wild Land), establishing him as one of America's most distinguished songwriters and California's de facto roots music ambassador.
Fast forward to Eleven Eleven and Dave is ready to raise the stakes again, calling on some Blasters including his brother Phil, with whom he duets for the first time ever on record. The inaugurals continue with Dave writing all the songs while on the road touring, a first for the seasoned performer.
The new method clearly sparked new ideas for Alvin, with the blistering guitar runs and Bo Diddley beat of Run Conejo Run sidling up alongside the gentle finger-picking of the tremolo-soaked No Worries Mija.
Eleven Eleven also features Harlan County Line, the song featured, along with an Alvin cameo as himself, in FX original series Justified and his highest and fastest-selling digital single ever.1. Harlan County Line

Combat Rock (Awaiting Repress)
Newly Remastered By The Clash From Original Tapes To Audiophile Quality
All Artwork Recreated From Original Release Including Replicated Fully Printed Inner Sleeves With An Exclusive Pennie Smith Photo Print
On the surface of things, Combat Rock appears to be a retreat from the sprawling stylistic explorations of London Calling and Sandinista! The pounding arena rock of Should I Stay or Should I Go makes the Clash sound like an arena rock band, and much of the album boasts a muscular, heavy sound courtesy of producer Glyn Johns. But things aren't quite that simple. Combat Rock contains heavy flirtations with rap, funk, and reggae, and it even has a cameo by poet Allen Ginsberg -- if this album is, as it has often been claimed, the Clash's sellout effort, it's a very strange way to sell out. Even with the infectious, dance-inflected new wave pop of Rock the Casbah leading the way, there aren't many overt attempts at crossover success, mainly because the group is tearing in two separate directions. Mick Jones wants the Clash to inherit the Who's righteous arena rock stance, and Joe Strummer wants to forge ahead into black music. The result is an album that is nearly as inconsistent as Sandinista!, even though its finest moments -- Should I Stay or Should I Go, Rock the Casbah, Straight to Hell -- illustrate why the Clash were able to reach a larger audience than ever before with the record.

All Are SavedNever settling down for a second, Fred Thomas has spent the last decade and a half flying just beneath the radar of most listeners, but amassing a dedicated grassroots collection of friends and admirers.
"All Are Saved" is technically the eighth Fred Thomas solo album, and possibly the best yet.
The result of over a year of recording, refinement and long-labored sonic sculpting, these eleven tracks are the culmination of everything Fred Thomas has done before while being a decidedly bold move into brand new territory. Heavy, poetic lyrics are more spoken than sung, recalling the urgency and straightforwardness
of cult bands like The Van Pelt or Life Without Buildings, while each song builds on a patchwork of grainy samples, dreamlike guitar figures and deftly produced clashes of organic instrumentation
and vintage synth textures.
Fred's dabblings in melancholic chamber pop (Saturday Looks Good To Me), ambient electronics (City Center), jangly but angular guitar playing (Failed Flowers) experimental production and jaw-droppingly confessional lyricism are all distilled into one unflinching statement. These are the raw nerves of the friendliest guy
at the party, spilling out shamelessly naked feelings. The album features mixing assistance on many songs from Drew Vandenburg (of Montreal, Deerhunter), and several guest spots from friends in bands like People Get Ready, Radiator Hospital, Known Moons and even a guest backing vocal cameo from Andrew W.K.1. In GlendaleFor the last decade, Tim Heidecker (along with his comedy partner Eric Wareheim) has proven to be one of our cult-comedy greats with his Adult Swim series Tim & Eric's Awesome Show, Great Job! and Tim & Eric's Bedtime Stories. He's starred in indie films and played sold out stand-up sets around the world.
But who is Tim Heidecker? Is he a real man with all the regular feels? Well, yes, of course he is. He resides on a hill in Glendale, CA, up to his armpits in diapers, bills, his mortgage, in the workaday life of a writer. It's this pedestrian side of his life from which Heidecker pulls the fodder for the aptly titled In Glendale, his first earnest collection of songwriting under his full name.
In Glendale shows Heidecker shifting deftly from the mundane to the idiosyncratic; from the sentimental to the caustic; from the earnest to the humorous. His knack for crafting catchy tunes amid curious subject matter pops up in spades across In Glendale. Ghost In My Bed is a lovely little number about cutting off someone's head, sticking it in a plastic bag and burying it beneath the Hollywood sign.

Once Upon A Time At King Tubby's (Awaiting Repress)Never Before Released On Vinyl
All of those things happened up at Tubby's - Bunny Lee
'Once Upon A Time At King Tubby's' captures from start to finish the full story of the most well-known, and certainly the wittiest, of all the wars of words that the highly competitive Kingston recording scene ever produced. I Roy and Prince Jazzbo were the principal players aided and abetted along the way by an assorted bunch of onlookers and minor characters who all helped the drama to unfold. Bunny 'Striker' Lee was the catalyst that started this particular schism and the producer of all but one of the tracks.
Ever the entrepreneur 'Striker' hit the musical jackpot once again as he goaded both artists into making records that went 'straight to the head'. What had begun as a joke grew into an entire series of seven-inch singles that set the Jamaican recording scene alight in the mid-seventies. All but one of the tracks on this set were voiced and mixed at King Tubby's Waterhouse studio; I Roy voiced 'Padlock' at Channel One because the competition a get so crabbit and this gave veteran vocalist Derrick Morgan an opportunity to enter the fray. Johnny Clarke, Dirty Harry and Prince Far I also make cameo appearances.
Insults and 'head' games are nothing new in Jamaican music but this album is the first to ever compile all the tracks from one of the best examples ever of these feuds here remastered and complete with full sleeve notes featuring interviews with the main protagonists.1. Vapor Trails2013's celebration of Rush continues with the highly anticipated release of a remixed version of the band 2002's album VAPOR TRAILS. In 2009, two tracks from VAPOR TRAILS (One Little Victory and Earthshine) were remixed for the Retrospective III collection, setting fans into a frenzy in anticipation of a possible remixed version of the entire album being released one day. Four years later, that day is finally approaching.
Vapor Trails was an album made under difficult and emotional circumstances - sort of like Rush learning how to be Rush again - and as a result, mistakes were made that we have longed to correct. David Bottrill's remixes have finally brought some justice and clarity to this deserving body of our work, says Geddy Lee.
Every song has been given a new life, from the fire of 'One Little Victory,' 'Secret Touch,' and 'Ceiling Unlimited' to the melodic musicality of 'Sweet Miracle' and 'How It Is' these songs have been redeemed. Thank you David!
Recently, a career-chronicling Rolling Stone feature praised the band for its continuing artistic vitality, noting that It's true that Rush doesn't mean today what it did in '76 or even '96. It may mean more. Rush's enduring pop culture relevance is perhaps best evidenced by a pair of high profile appearances - a rare national television performance and interview on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report in 2008 (the band's first TV appearance since 1975), and a pivotal role in the story line of the 2009 hit comedy, I Love You, Man, starring Paul Rudd and Jason Segal, where the band also made a memorable cameo in the film.
Beginning with their self-titled debut album in 1974, their extraordinary body of work - which includes such formidable works as 1976's 2112, 1981's Moving Pictures, 1996's Test for Echo, 2002's Vapor Trails and the latest studio album Snakes & Arrows, made a triumphant debut on the Billboard 200 upon its initial release in 2007, entering the chart in the #3 spot. The album's success marked Rush's highest chart debut since 1993, as well as the group's eleventh top ten album in the U.S. Rush has sold more than 40 million records worldwide and garnered untold legions of devoted and admiring fans. According to the RIAA, Rush's sales statistics place Rush third behind The Beatles and The Rolling Stones for the most consecutive gold or platinum studio albums by a rock band.LP 1

Pipes Of PeacePerhaps it isn't surprising that McCartney's grip on the pop charts started to slip with Pipes of Peace, since it was released after his 40th birthday -- and most rockers do not mature particularly gracefully. Although it's rather fascinating that the album didn't reach the Top Ten, despite a blockbuster duet with Michael Jackson in Say Say Say, Pipes of Peace bewilders in other ways, particularly in its allusions to Tug of War. It often seems as if this album was constructed as a deliberate mirror image of its predecessor; it is also produced by George Martin, also contains two duets with an African-American superstar (Jackson here, Stevie Wonder there), also acknowledges an old bandmate (a Lennon tribute there, a Ringo cameo here), and even contains Tug of Peace, a deliberate answer song to its predecessor. If only it were nearly as adventurous as Tug of War! Instead of dabbling in all his myriad musical personas, McCartney settles back into a soft rock groove, tempered somewhat by a desire to be contemporary (which means a heavy reliance on drum machines and synthesizers). Instead of sounding modern, McCartney winds up sounding like an aging rocker desperately trying to keep up with the time, but that in turn means that Pipes of Peace can often reveal what the early '80s were like for aging rockers -- he does embrace technology, but he winds up with immaculate productions that are decidedly of their time. Still, at its best, Pipes of Peace is ingratiating soft rock. In particular, the first side is close to irresistible, with the title track being a mid-tempo mini-epic, Say Say Say being fine pop-funk, So Bad being so sickly sweet that it's alluring, The Man being an effervescent Jackson duet, and The Other Me scoring with its square dance beats and winning McCartney vocal. Not enough to add up to a latter-day triumph from McCartney, but it still contains better songs than its blockbuster mid-'70s counterparts, and even if it's a little lightweight, it has more flair in its craft and more style in its sound than other McCartney albums, which is enough to make it a minor musical success, despite its disappointing chart performance.1. The College Dropout (Awaiting Repress)
Voted Best Album of 2004 by Rolling Stone and the Village Voice's Pazz & Jop Poll!
On the most impressive and game-changing hip-hop debut since the early 90s, Kanye West magically sledgehammers home opinions on taboo topics over beats that are equally daring. The envelope-ripping beats shouldn't come as a surprise, given that he's supplied the soundscapes to monster singles by everyone from Alicia Keys ("You Don't Know My Name") to Talib Kweli ("Get By"). In West's world, rhymes about strippers, God, college life, and urban ills co-exist tidily and never come off as parodic.

Howard TateSinger Howard Tate cracked the R&B Top 20 three times in the late 1960s, left music and endured hardship and anonymity for nearly 30 years and beginning in the early 2000s returned to his rightful place as one of America's most revered soul performers.
Tate was born in Macon, Georgia, in 1939 and moved with his family to Philadelphia as a young boy. In his teens, he joined a north Philadelphia gospel group, the Gainors, that also featured to-be star Garnet Mimms. The group recorded in the early 1960s for Mercury Records and Cameo Records before Tate left to become the featured singer of organist Bill Doggett's group.
In the mid-'60s, Mimms urged producer Jerry Ragovoy to check out Tate, and from 1966 to 1969 Tate and Ragovoy recorded about 10 singles, the first for the Utopia label, the rest for Verve. Ain't Nobody Home (1966), Look At Granny Run Run (1966) and Stop (1967), all written or co-written by Ragovoy, each charted R&B Top 20. But to rock audiences, Tate was best known as the original performer of Get It While You Can, which became one of Janis Joplin's signature tunes. Tate's debut album, Get It While You Can, was released in 1966 to tremendous acclaim. Rolling Stone called the album a spectacular showcase of suave, muscular good-powered singing, heavily influenced by Sam Cooke, with a joyous, shrieking falsetto that became Tate's trademark.
Tate recorded a few more singles for Lloyd Price's label, Turntable, before reuniting briefly with Ragovoy for sessions on Atlantic. After one more single on Epic in 1974, Tate all but vanished. Despite his success, he was unhappy with how the music business was treating him, never having seen any royalties.
Tate sold securities in the New Jersey and Philadelphia areas into the 1980s when he succumbed to substance abuse and endured a very tumultuous period of homelessness and personal loss. He turned his life around and began work as a minister and counselor in the early 1990s. Then in 2001, a musician Tate had toured with back in the 1960s saw him in a supermarket and within hours Tate's old producer, Jerry Ragovoy, was calling, resulting in a return to the studio for the Grammy-nominated Rediscovered. He followed up with Howard Tate Live in 2006, A Portrait Of Howard - with guests Lou Reed, Carla Bley and Larry Goldings - in 2007 and Blue Day in 2008.
Music luminaries have recognized and celebrated Tate's trademark voice throughout the years, with Elvis Costello calling him the missing link between Jackie Wilson and Al Green. Among the well-known musicians that have covered songs originally recorded by Tate are Joplin (Get It While You Can), Jimi Hendrix (Stop), Hugh Masekela (Stop), B.B. King (Ain't Nobody Home), Ry Cooder (Look At Granny Run Run) and Grand Funk Railroad (Look At Granny Run Run).

Between The Times And The TidesBetween The Times And The Tides is the first proper, song-oriented studio album from Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo. Recorded with longstanding Sonic Youth producer John Agnello, the album is a shimmering and melodic tapestry of rock sounds.
Ranaldos trademark alternate-tuning guitar work is at the forefront here, but it is amplified by brilliant leadwork from Wilcos Nels Cline on every track. The all-star lineup also includes Sonic Youths Steve Shelley on drums, Alan Licht on guitar, and John Medeski on keyboards. There are also cameos from original Sonic Youth drummer Bob Bert and producer and instrumentalist Jim ORourke.
Between The Times and The Tides is equal parts smart, confident and loose in a manner that recalls some of Matador's favorite rock n' roll projects yet sounds like a fantastic new band that was apparently being assembled right under our noses. With lyrics plumbing Ranaldos childhood and adolescence, its a fascinatingly approachable song collection from one of rocks greatest guitarists. Includes MP3 coupon.1. Waiting On A Dream

Clockwork AngelsRush's Clockwork Angels is the renowned trio's first new collection of original material in over five years and their first studio release via Anthem/Roadrunner Records.
The recording of Clockwork Angels began in April 2010 with Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz - who also collaborated with the band on their last studio album, 2007's Snakes & Arrows. Rush co-produced both records. The first two songs, "Caravan" and "BU2B," were completed during that first session at Nashville's Blackbird studios and performed nightly during the wildly successful Time Machine Tour, which ran from June 2010 to June 2011. Work on Clockwork Angels resumed in the fall of 2011 at Revolution Recording in Toronto after the tour's finale, with additional strings (arranged by David Campbell) recorded at Hollywood's Ocean Way Studios in early 2012.
Lyrically, Clockwork Angels chronicles a young man's quest across a lavish and colorful world of steampunk and alchemy as he attempts to follow his dreams. The story features lost cities, pirates, anarchists, an exotic carnival, and a rigid Watchmaker who imposes precision on every aspect of daily life. The novelization of Clockwork Angels is being written by science fiction writer Kevin J. Anderson in collaboration with Rush drummer and lyricist Neil Peart.
Rush - Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart - is without question one of the most inventive and compelling groups in rock history, equally famed for both its virtuoso musicianship and provocative songwriting.
Recently, a career-chronicling Rolling Stone feature praised the band for its continuing artistic vitality, noting that It's true that Rush doesn't mean today what it did in '76 or even '96. It may mean more. Rush's enduring pop culture relevance is perhaps best evidenced by a pair of high profile appearances - a rare national television performance and interview on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report in 2008 (the band's first TV appearance since 1975), and a pivotal role in the storyline of the 2009 hit comedy, I Love You, Man, starring Paul Rudd and Jason Segal, where the band also made a memorable cameo in the film.
According to the RIAA, Rush's sales statistics place RUSH third behind The Beatles and The Rolling Stones for the most consecutive gold or platinum studio albums by a rock band.1. Caravan

Pete Townshend's Classic QuadropheniaAs a leading icon of the British music revolution of the 1960s, Pete Townshend made his name by creating the power chord, smashing guitars onstage, and penning anthems of teenage rebellion like My Generation.
Now, at almost 70 years old and half a century after he penned the archetypal rock lyric Hope I die before I get old , Townshend has created a classical version of one of The Who s landmark albums Quadrophenia for a symphony orchestra, opera singer and choir.
The new symphonised version of Quadrophenia, an album originally released by The Who in 1973, was orchestrated by Rachel Fuller, a professional composer, orchestrator and singer-songwriter in her own right and also the partner of Pete Townshend.
It will be released by the Deutsche Grammophon label, internationally renowned for its repertoire of classical and opera music, and launched next summer with a world premiere concert at the Royal Albert Hall, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and London Oriana Choir.
The project is the latest chapter in Townshend s lifelong mission to break the three-minute mould of the traditional pop song and take rock music to a higher artistic level. In the 1960s he defined the concept of the rock opera with Tommy, taking it a stage further with Quadrophenia.
Conceived and written by Townshend in 1973, Quadrophenia went on to become a feature film and a theatre production, and was performed in its entirety on The Who s most recent live tour. For the last three years Townshend has worked closely with Rachel Fuller on brand-new arrangements for orchestra, soloists and choir.
Recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in October 2014 at London s legendary Air Studios, the new incarnation of this classic rock opera is conducted by Robert Ziegler and features popular British tenor Alfie Boe on vocals, with Townshend himself on electric guitar and performing cameo vocal roles. Townshend will reprise his roles at the live world premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 5 July 2015, alongside the RPO, Ziegler, Boe and other star guests.
The rock superstar began work on the project as part of his plan to leave a legacy of all his work arranged for orchestra as sheet music, for future generations to enjoy. Townshend hopes the new work will go on to become a regular part of the orchestral repertoire and boost attendance at classical concerts.
A lot of major symphony orchestras are in trouble because their audience is getting old and the younger audiences prefer softer stuff, such as film soundtrack music, he explains. I think that Quadrophenia would reinvigorate their audiences and bring in people who might not otherwise go to see a symphony orchestra perform without lights and fireworks and a movie screen.
Rachel Fuller, who was born in the year Quadrophenia was first released, admits she had never heard The Who s album until several years after she first met Townshend in a London recording studio, while he was rehearsing for The Who s 1996 tour of that album and she was working with Ute Lemper.
I loved it as soon as I heard it about ten years ago, she says. For me it's been an act of love to orchestrate it for Pete. It's also been a joy to work on because it is very orchestral by nature, even as a rock album, so it was very easy to arrange for an orchestra. And I've remained really faithful to the original tracks because he's the composer and I want to honour his work.1. I Am The Sea

Fever Dream180 Gram Vinyl In A Wide Spine Gatefold Package
Four-Panel Printed Fold-Out Poster
I am proud to announce that my new solo album Fever Dream - the follow-up to Hendra - will be released globally on my label Unmade Road through Caroline International.
Fever Dream was self-produced at London's famous RAK Studio 2, and mastered by the legendary Bob Ludwig in Maine. We kept Hendra's sonic template of open-tuned folk-jazz and distorted string-bent rock, and went for a new grainy intensity. Bernard Butler joins me again. Bruno Ellingham engineered and mixed. We just did most of it live. Small room, small band. A harder edge. Instruments spilling into each other. Martin Ditcham on drums. New recruit Rex Horan on double bass. And I've sprinkled guest vocal cameos from Boston's dream-folk singer-songwriter Marissa Nadler and Hiss Golden Messenger's M.C. Taylor.
