    The Holy Ground (Pure Pleasure)

Irish singer Mary Black is well known for deftly combining her Celtic roots with contemporary folk. On this release, she offers another strong set of songs, as she interprets songs from American folk favorite John Gorka (Treasure Island) and connects with Anglo-folk tradition on the lovely One Way Donkey Ride (written by Sandy Denny of Fairport Convention fame). The acoustic instrumentation feature a rich blend of guitars, fiddles, saxophones, and accordions that add a timeless feel to most of her songs. The highlight of the album is Loving Time, an emotional story of star-crossed lovers told with a bittersweet aching that few artists could deliver so poignantly. While a few songs towards the end of the album suffer from middle-of-the-road, adult easy listening arrangements, Mary Black's voice remains an incredibly expressive instrument that makes this another solid effort.

    • Mary Black (vocal)

    • Dave Early (drums, conga, percussion)

    • Garvan Gallagher (bass)

    • Frank (vocals, violin, whistle)

    • Declan Sinnott (guitar, mandolin)

    • Pat Crowley (keyboards, accordian)

    • Carl Geraghty (tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone)

    • Mel Mercier (percussion)

    • Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh (additional vocals)

    Production: Declan Sinnott

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

Drawing on the hardships and joys of their own lives and a musical history ranging from old world Celtic to modern day punk rock, the seven members of Flogging Molly have developed a charm and an ease over the years that makes them one of the most accessible bands performing today.

More mature yet retaining the immediacy that marks all of their work, the band's new album Float may find the widest audience acceptance of any Flogging Molly album to date. Hard charging tunes ôPaddyÆs Lamentö and ôYou WonÆt Make a Fool Out of Meö give way, as listeners have come to expect, to more sober ruminations on tracks like ôFloat.ö The overall effect is a symphonic layering of sound that possesses a unique rhythmic flow from boisterous to bereaved and back again. Long time fans and new discoverers will be equally astounded.

    Workbench Songs

Available On Vinyl For The First Time

Offered here for the first time ever on vinyl, Workbench Songs was originally released on CD in 2006. It represented Guy Clark's 10th studio release and continued his legacy as one of the most critically acclaimed Texas songsmith's of our time. The Austin American Statesman had this to say of the 2006 release:

Guy Clark dominates the discussion with his opinion on Townes Van Zandt whenever it comes to talking about who is the one plus ultra Texas songwriter. He has a point, of course, but if Townes is No. 1, Clark is No. 1A. Workbench Songs goes a mighty long way to proving that true. It's not just another collection of his finely crafted songs, his first for a new label. It's one of the best albums of his career. What's continually amazing about Clark is his ability to capture a sweeping range of emotions and everyday occurrences in song, from joy and pain to roadhouse rambunctious and Mexicans visiting Graceland, with exquisite simplicity and captivating lucidity. Here his co-writers are the best of their ilk, Rodney Crowell, Gary Nicholson, Darrell Scott, Lee Roy Parnell, and longtime collaborator Verlon Thompson, but there's also a chilling version of Van Zandt's "No Lonesome Tune," perhaps to demonstrate his point. Songs like Celtic flavored set opener, "Walkin' Man," the comically breezy "Tornado Time in Texas," and the universally recognizable scene set in "Out in the Parkin' Lot" stand out on a collection that may be from the workbench but is nowhere near workmanlike.

    Dublin Blues

Available On Vinyl For The First Time

Dublin Blues is an album by American singer-songwriter Guy Clark, originally released in 1995.

A mere three years after Boats to Build, Guy Clark offered Dublin Blues, a record filled with sizzle, inspiration, and his
best batch of songs in years. Teaming with Miles Wilkinson for the third time and using in the studio for the first time
his road band -- which included Über guitarist and singer Darrell Scott -- Clark delivered a batch of searing portraits,
intimate observations, first-person narratives, and one dumb throwaway cut ("Baby Took A Limo to Memphis").
As usual, some old friends return to the fold -- Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris, Sam Bush, Verlon Thompson, Kenny
Malone, and Suzy Ragsdale -- but there were new faces at the time that joined in like Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Nanci
    Griffith, and Kathy Mattea.

The magic begins with the title track. Haunted Celtic melodies played on the fiddle and a mandolin with an acoustic
guitar usher in a country song that could be from the countryside of Ireland. With Mattea on the backing vocals,
the listener is transported between worlds in time and space. "Black Diamond Strings" is a friendly little number
about what else: guitar strings! Its catchy hook and singalong chorus make it a Clark winner. "Shut Up and Talk to
Me" features Scott playing the swinging blues as Clark counts off the music like a fierce memory. "Stuff That Works"
is another of Clark's quiet observation tunes, where his words speak volumes and the instruments underline their
meanings. It's a workingman's anthem sung seemingly from the workshop bench. But "Hank Williams Said It Best,"
"Tryin' to Try," "Cape," and "Hangin' Your Life on the Wall" are all tremendous in their scope and intimacy. They are
full of dimension and depth, and Wilkinson gives them textures.

The set ends with a re-recording of the spooky yet shattering elegy "The Randall Knife" Clark cut on Better Days. The
difference here is age. The view Clark sings from is one of distance and age. "The Randall Knife" doesn't feel quite
so spooky this time out, but it does resonate with empathy and even tenderness. As it winds to a close, the listener
is left not in bewildered silence but in awe that such a bond exists at all.

    Too Rye Ay

Having already scored (and how!) with a damn-near-perfect debut album, 'Searching For The Young Soul Rebels', and its trailblazing Number 1 smash
'Geno', fans and critics alike could hardly have predicted that what would come next would not only be a markedly different Dexys sound, but even greater
commercial heights, too. That's exactly what happened, however, with 'Too-Rye-Ay' and its blend of hot Stax-inspired rhythms and cool Celtic-influenced
strings. Its ensuing remarkable run of hit singles - 'Jackie Wilson Said (I'm In Heaven When You Smile)', the double-A-sided 'Old' / 'Let's Make This
Precious', and 'The Celtic Soul Brothers' - was deliciously supplemented by the all-conquering 'Come On Eileen', the latter of which went on to become
    the UK's biggest-selling single of 1982.

Miller's ECM debut has an international feel: the Latin influence of his heritage strong in such pieces as "Baden", an early 20th-century Parisian air on "Le Pont" and the evocation of Celtic tunes on "Valium". Miller has long been known as Sting's right-hand man on guitar and a hushed instrumental take on "Fields of Gold" appears here. Abandon All Life (Awaiting Repress)

Nails, tyrants of the American underground, have triumphantly completed their second full-length Abandon All Life. Recorded at Godcity with Kurt Ballou (Converge) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise), these ten tracks of barbaric rage have no resemblance to the laughable, retro party metal that passes as extreme music in today's world. Instead, Nails carpet bombs the listener with their horrifying brand of death/grind/hardcore chaos; flawlessly blending shades of Suffocation, early Nasum, and Celtic Frost with their own sadistic aggression. With profound hatred, the howling war cry of Abandon All Life shows Nails as a band without equal in their class.

    The King's Gift

A Christmas album of Celtic carols, The King's Gift ("Tiodhlac An Righ," in Gaelic) pays tribute to an ancient genre and transports the listener to a time of mystery and valor. Last Christmas (2012), Trace's Celtic version of "We Three Kings" was released and will be featured on the album.

Esteemed guests join Adkins on his first-ever holiday album since his Platinum debut sixteen years ago. Guests include renowned Irish ensemble, The Chieftains; Scottish vocalist Alyth McCormack, British folk/pop star Emma Stevens, multi-award winning family group, The Isaacs; Kevin Costner and daughter Lily Costner; and legendary drummer Kenny Aronoff. The keyboards, acoustic, steel and bass guitars of American folk music harmonize with the weissenborn, mandolin, uilleann pipe, penny whistle, violin, viola, cello, harp, and organ.

"The Christmas Show" Tour begins a new Adkins holiday tradition for years to come. Envisioned as a theatrical production, Trace will alternate between fireside story-telling of anecdotes (both personal and historical) and performances of classic carols with a 12 piece ensemble - a quartet string section, female vocalists and a range of traditional instruments. The tour is inspired by Adkins' annual hosting duties at Disney World's Candlelight Processional, where his deep baritone narrates Christmas stories, while a full choir and orchestra performs. It has always been a highlight of Trace's year and he is thrilled to bring his own unique version of this concept on tour.

The 5000 Spirits Or Layers Of The Onion

If any musical combo ever meshed perfectly with the times it was the Incredible String Band. And here's the proof: 1967's The 5000 Spirits Or Layers Of The Onion on deep-grooved, 180-gram vinyl. The wildly eclectic Scottish folk outfit -with the airy vocals and fretboard prowess of Robin Williamson and Mike Heron as its two constants -began life resurrecting wondrous and ancient Celtic ballads, then was transformed by the perfumed winds of 1967's psychedelic revolution to add sitar, oud, gimbri and all manner of exotic axes to its arsenal. The result is a gently mesmerizing psychedelia and anti-folk stance-consummate counterpoint to current psych heroes like Mogwai and Beachwood Sparks -that makes perfectly clear why the Incredible String Band remains just that: Incredible!
