Dead RingerFirst Pressing Of 1000 Numbered Copies On Solid Orange & Black Colored Vinyl
Meat Loaf's Dead Ringer (1981) is the second of his three albums written entirely by Jim Steinman, among which Bat Out Of Hell was the first.
Once again, Jim Steinman wrote extended, operatic songs with hyperbolic lyrics and organized a backup band anchored by E Street Band members Max Weinberg (drums) and Roy Bittan (keyboards), while Meat Loaf sang with a passion all the more compelling for its hint of the ridiculous.
Four singles were released from Dead Ringer: Dead Ringer For Love, I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us, Read 'Em And Weep and Peel Out. The album reached #1 in the UK. The title track, featuring a perfectly cast Cher as duet singer, went Top Ten.1. Peel Out

TotoToto was founded in 1977 by some of the most experienced session musicians of that time.
The members of Toto were regulars on albums by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, Boz Scaggs, Sonny and Cher, and many others, contributing to many of the most popular records of the 1970s.
The band enjoyed great commercial success in the late 1970s and 1980s, starting with the band's self-titled debut released in 1978.
It includes the hit singles 'Hold the Line', 'I'll Supply the Love' and 'Georgy Porgy' and the album gained a reputation when released for its characteristic sound, mixing soft pop with both synth and hard rock elements.
The band still has a good reputation as selling out arenas all over the world proves.

Q4EVO is a major upgrade of our original Q4 rack that was originally launched in 1995. The Q4EVO is a practical modular solution combining shelves with aluminium columns and feet to enhance your sound system both sonically and visually. Its flexibility allows you to build the rack to your own specification to fit any number of components. The Q4EVO is the same as the original Q4 rack except for some intricate machining on the underside of the shelf which will give improved performance - "the cheapest rack here gives our kit a cohesive sound with a well-balanced treble, taut and expressive bass and a supple and emotive midrange" (What HiFi November 2009).
To gain maximum performance from your HiFi or AV system, the furniture you place it on is as equally important as all the other components. Each component & cable is susceptible to electrical & mechanical noise, degrading overall system performance. In theory total isolation is desirable, but in reality impossible.
Quadraspire designs achieve optimum isolation through a combination of distinctive curves and chamfered edges minimising resonance and standing sound waves. Aluminium columns eliminate residual magnetism and the adjustable spiked feet allow efficient floor de-coupling. Real wood-veneered shelves ensure good self-damping properties.$219.00Quadraspire Q4 EVO Shelf - Cherry

A Trip Down The Sunset Strip
Mastered From Viva Records' Original Mono Tapes
Pressed On Heavy-Duty 180-Gram Vinyl
Limited Edition Of 1000 Copies
The Leathercoated Minds' 1967 release A Trip Down the Sunset Strip is a one-of-a-kind artifact of the psychedelic era. Originally conceived as an exploitation item, it nonetheless emerged as an enduring musical statement, thanks to the talents of those involved, particularly then-unknown Oklahoma-bred guitarist J.J. Cale.
As its title suggests, A Trip Down the Sunset Strip was originally concocted by noted pop producer Snuff Garrett (known for his hitmaking '60s work with the likes of Bobby Vee, Cher and Gary Lewis and the Playboys) to tap into the wave of publicity that surrounded the Sunset Strip and the Hollywood club scene at the time. For the project, Garrett assigned Cale to cut a set of instrumental versions of then-recent psychedelic hits, which were augmented with four Cale originals. It totally captures the era's heady sense of excitement and inspiration.
The visionary talents of Cale virtually assured that A Trip Down the Sunset Strip would transcend its humble origins, becoming an increasingly rare collectible as its reputation grew. Now back in its original LP configuration, our release has been mastered from Viva Records' original mono tapes, pressed on heavy-duty 180-gram vinyl and is available in a limited edition of 1000 copies!1. Christmas And The Beads Of Sweat (Pure Pleasure)Laura Nyro's third Columbia effort is easily the equal of her previous two. The overwhelming strength of her songwriting and distinctive arrangements fuel Christmas And The Beads Of Sweat. Her unmistakable style of delivery maintains the continual examination of herself as a performer. The results are uniformly interesting and provocative as she continues to draw upon her love of jazz, folk, and R&B.
Conceptually, this album is as potent as her previous effort, New York Tendaberry, but in a much different way. Rather than hanging together thematically, Christmas And The Beads Of Sweat features two inclusive and distinctive sides of music -- with different musicians and producers for each.
The first five tracks feature Nyro backed by the Swampers from Muscle Shoals, AL, and include the talents of Roger Hawkins (drums), Eddie Hinton (guitar), Dave Hood (bass), Barry Becket (vibraphone), and Jack Jennings (percussion), with Arif Mardin producing. While this pairing might seem initially incongruous, the quintet had been concurrently working with the likes of Dusty Springfield and Cher and had gained a rightful reputation as a consummate backup band.
The final four pieces are steeped in noir more atypical of her previous efforts. The all-star cast of New York City session heavyweights are led by Felix Cavaliere (producer) and features fellow Rascals member Dino Danelli (drums), Ralph McDonald (percussion), Chuck Rainey (bass), Cornell Dupree (guitar), Duane Allman (guitar), and Alice Coltrane (stringed harp), among others.
As with all of Nyro's recordings, at the heart of this effort are her ageless compositions and arrangements. A motif connecting such disparate tunes as the upbeat When I Was A Freeport And You Were The Main Drag to the hauntingly beautiful Christmas In My Soul and Beads Of Sweat is the aching hollowness that came with the disillusionment that Vietnam, Kent State, and racial relations brought upon America in 1970. As she had done with Save The Country some four years earlier, Nyro's cathartic expressionism is captured at its most fervent on this album.
- Laura Nyro (guitar, piano, keyboard, vocal)
- Joe Farrell (woodwinds)
- Felix Cavaliere (organ, keyboards, percussion)
- Duane Allman, Cornell Dupree (guitar)
- Alice Coltrane (harp)
- Barry Beckett (vocal, vibraphone)

- Dino Danelli, Roger Hawkins (drums)
About Pure Pleasure
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

In The Right PlaceDr. John, or Mac Rebennack as known to friends and family, is universally celebrated as the living embodiment of the rich musical heritage exclusive to New Orleans. His very colorful musical career began in the 1950s when he wrote and played guitar on some of the greatest records to come out of the Crescent City, including recordings by Professor Longhair, Art Neville, Joe Tex and Frankie Ford. A notorious gun incident forced the artist to give up the guitar and concentrate on organ and piano. Further trouble at home sent Dr. John west in the 1960s, where he continued to be in demand as a session musician, playing on records by Sonny and Cher, Van Morrison and Aretha Franklin to name a few. He also launched his solo career, developing the charismatic persona of Dr. John The Night Tripper. Adorned with voodoo charms and regalia, a legend was born with his breakthrough 1968 album Gris-gris, which established his unique blend of voodoo mysticism, funk, rhythm & blues, psychedelic rock and Creole roots. Several of his many career highlights include the masterful album Sun, Moon and Herbs in 1971 which included cameos from Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger and 1973's In The Right Place, which contained the chart hits Right Place Wrong Time and Such A Night.1. Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil ConnectionLegacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection, an innovative new collection of 12 beloved vocal recordings re-experienced through new samba and bossa nova arrangements created by iconic Brazilian musicians and The Berman Brothers.
Embracing the All In One Rhythm™ Theme of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection blends 12 iconic performances--from Bill Withers, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Billie Holiday, Sly & The Family Stone, The Isley Brothers, Mel TormÉ, Nina Simone, Johnny Nash, Dave Brubeck with Carmen McRae, Andy Williams and Sarah Vaughan--with new, samba and bossa nova arrangements and production inspired by the spirit of Brazilian music.
Working on Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection project, the Berman Brothers sought out the original multi-track masters and utilized an all-new, state-of-the-art separation technology from Science of Sounds to extract exquisitely pristine and detailed vocals. The newly isolated vocals were then melded with brand-new, authentic backing arrangements played by Studio Rio, an all-star cast of Brazilian musical pioneers from the bossa nova and samba genres, including Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner Roberto Menescal and Brazilian musical legend Marcos Valle.
Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection is the latest innovative musical project from the Berman Brothers (Frank and Christian), a production team whose previous work includes Rhythms Del Mundo (2006), a cross-cultural album summit which which fused an all-star cast of Cuban musicians including Ibrahim Ferrer and Omara Portuondo of the Buena Vista Social Club with US and UK artists and superstars such as U2, Coldplay, Sting, Jack Johnson, Maroon5, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs and others. Rhythms del Mundo was released in more than 61 countries and received multiple sales awards worldwide.
During the past 20 years, the Berman Brothers have received more than 90 gold and platinum awards, two BMI Awards, a Golden Globe nomination, a Grammy nomination (for Love One Another, recorded by Cher) and a place in history for their production and remix of the Baha Men's colossal hit, Who Let the Dogs Out. As producers, writers and publishers, the Bermans have worked with an array of international superstars including Coldplay, Sting, Cher, Real McCoy, Dido, Maroon5, Sophie B Hawkins, Reamonn and members of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club.
Music is the heart and soul of Brazil, celebrating with syncopated beats and beautifully expressive melodies. It's the life force of the entire culture, wrote the Berman Brothers in their notes for Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection. We have always had a huge appreciation of Brazilian music. Between us, we have a massive collection of bossa nova and samba recordings, new and old, a lot which we found in flea markets in Amsterdam, Paris, and London.... Once you get into this music, there really is no way to stop. It was this joyful and timeless music that inspired the idea for this collection. Our goal was to bring the Brazilian joie de vivre to iconic performances by well-known American artists like Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, The Isley Brothers, and many others. What would these classic songs sound like had they been recorded in the studios of Rio De Janeiro in the first place, with the best Brazilian musicians and arrangers?"
"It was an amazing journey-bringing together these American classics and the vibrancy of Brazilian music with the help of so many talented musicians, arrangers and a dedicated production team. We learned many things putting together this music including what was the most important, and least surprising lesson of all: Brazil is the most musical place we have ever been in our lives.1. Hardly CriminalCrash's story unfolds with that particularly Southern swagger and with a tale of a Louisiana boy bred on Waffle House breakfasts and monster truck rallies, local Rodeos and the flicker of family bonfires. There was college for a hot minute, there was a move to the Irish Channel, there was the soaking in of all that is New Orleans, wet heat and Sazeracs, the wailing horns of jazz funerals, the teetering handmade floats of Mardi Gras, crawfish and etouffee and howling at the moon. There was work where he could get it, toiling as a PA on the studio sets, Hollywood coming south for the tax credits. It was on these film productions where crash earned his nickname, something to do with a questionable work ethic and repetitive tardiness (he admits you d have to ask one Ms. Rita Wilson for the real deal details). And yet despite his reputation (or perhaps because of it), he was anointed "assistant" to Johnny Knoxville during The!Dukes!of!Hazzard s run. (One can only imagine ) crash later joined the critically adored local act The Deadly Syndrome as lead singer and frontman, bringing his gris gris into the beautiful belly of the L.A. beast. Since then, crash has been barreling ahead, recording prolifically with The Deadly Syndrome, working with famed producer Daniel Lanios, composing a live stage score, acting in a few national commercials, and finally, after Deadly disbanded in 2013, heading out on the road with his pals, Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, as percussionist and angelic vocal accompaniment. And somewhere in that heady mix in that combination of the rolling road, of California eucalyptus sway and dark NOLA mysteries, he discovered his true self - the wildaeyed, slyatongued, strutting, winking and wonderful crash of this here solo debut. Produced and engineered by the multitalented Ed Sharpe lead guitarist, Mark Noseworthy, (and featuring friends from the Zeros, Dawes, The Mystic Valley Band and more ) Hardly Criminal is the culmination of all that is strange and sad, hilarious and harmonious, about crash s own true tale. It is story a moving, funny, weird, and stunningly beautiful. You can hear the South, yes, Neville swing and Dr. John juaju, but you can also hear smooth soul, booty funk, and ragged folk, a mix of sounds taken from his past and pushed into the future, all accompanied by a deadpan storytelling prowess and a voice like a Cajun Prince (as in "The Artist Formerly Known As"). Hardly!Criminal! is the sum of crash s best parts - the sonic celebration of his story so far. So, set down a spell, cool yer bones, cher... and listen1. Hardly Criminal

Born in New Orleans in 1940 as Malcom John Rebennack, he eventually took the stage name of Dr. John and went on to become a legendary songwriter, pianist and guitarist whose iconic music combines blues, jazz, boogie woogie, Cajun and rock n' roll influences. At an early age he was exposed to burgeoning rock artists such as Little Richard, Guitar Slim, James Booker, Earl King and Professor Longhair, all who played a big influence on Dr. John's developing style. In 1965 he moved to Los Angeles where he became a "first call" session musician in the LA studio scene in the 1960s and 70s and was part of the "Wrecking Crew" stable of studio musicians. He backed up Sonny & Cher, Canned Heat, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention and many others. By the mid-1960s, Rebennack's fascination and preoccupation with New Orleans voodoo culture helped to influence and develop the idea for what would become the Dr. John persona which would define him for the rest of his career.
By 1968 he started to gain fame as a solo-artist using the persona of Dr. John the Night Tripper and featuring elaborate costumes and stage shows influenced by Screamin' Jay Hawkins act. Gris-Gris was Dr. John's debut album for Atco Records and is ranked #143rd on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list. He recorded three more albums for Atco: Babylon (1969), Remedies (1970) and The Sun, Moon and Herbs (1971) that all followed suit with voodoo influences and New Orleans traditional music. By 1971, Dr. John had gained a notable cult following that included artists such as Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger, both of whom took part in the Sun, Moon and Herbs sessions. He is best known for his recordings done between the years 1972-1974 and Dr. John's Gumbo cut in 1972 is considered a cornerstone of New Orleans music. The single from the album, "Iko, Iko" broke into the Billboard Hot 100 chart reaching #71. The album was ranked 404 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time List. In 1973, produced by Allen Toussaint and backed by the Meters, Dr. John released the seminal New Orleans funk album, In The Right Place. Rooted in solid R&B it reached #24 on the Billboard album chart anchored by the hit single, "Right Place Wrong Time" that peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart and has gone on to become a heavily played staple on classic rock radio to this day. Dr. John has recorded more than 20 albums and is the winner of six Grammy® Awards. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011 and continues to tour and record to this day.LP 1

Are We Not Men? We Are Diva! (Out Of Stock)In that mythical era known as the 90's, five brave young men emerged from the legendary halls of some of the mightiest bands on Fat Wreck Chords with a single mission: make all the rest of these dildo punk bands covering popular songs obsolete. They crowned themselves Me First and the Gimme Gimmes and the world rejoiced. Now, seven records, scores of singles and nearly a thousand years later, having tackled every genre under the sun, the bold young knaves known colloquially as the Gimmes have ridden their success hard, and decayed into desiccated, old divas. Yet, the diva, she is immortal. And thus, imbued with the old-world, Mystic Pizza-esque swagger of Cher, the modern pop-art sensibility of Lady Gaga and the enthusiasm-for-drug-consumption of Whitney Houston, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes have returned from their beauty rest, busting out of their sequined gowns, and throwing vases at their assistants in order to present you with their latest opus, entitled Are We Not Men? We Are Diva!, slated to be released on none other than Fat Wreck Chords. And you'd best believe, whether because of their tantrums or their virtuosity, once you hear these fat ladies sing, there's not gonna be a dry eye in the house.
For the uninitiated, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes consist of Lagwagon frontman Joey Cape on the guitar, Shiflett brother (and Foo Fighter) Chris Shiflett on the other guitar, Lagwagon drummer and Fat Wreck utility superhero Dave Raun on the skins, and are rounded out by Fat Wreck-head-honcho/NOFX main-dude Fat Mike, and incomparable crooner Spike Slawson. Together, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes-an outfit that has always operated more like a beer-hall Pussycat Dolls than a regular mortal band-contain so much hot air, so much pomp, so much attitude, that it's a wonder that these guys can still manage to pull their five individual tour buses into the same parking lot, put their differences aside and belt out the ballads without clawing each other's eyes out. But they do, for the love of the fans, the music, and of course, the applause.
In the past, The Gimmes have tackled such disparate genres as Motown, country, show tunes and even Japanese pop (sung in real live Japanese!) but none of that enabled them to truly soar as high above the eagles as they desired, feeling the wind of other, lesser bands beneath their wings. So this time, the Fat (Wreck) Five decided to take on the un-take-on-able and hit us with cuts from the likes of Celine (gasp!) Christina (Sigh!) and Paula Abdul (oh no you di'int!) among others. And as Spike's baritone somehow manages to make Whitney Houston's (Dolly Parton-penned) Theme Song To The Bodyguard EVEN MORE EPIC, you will be moved to tears. You will find joy. You will shake in your very skin as the music of these divas gently takes you by the hand and shows you how to love again. AND! You'll buy tickets to see 'em on tour.
Because that's right folks! Nothing says 'diva' like coming to your town to bask in the torrential, gushing blasts of your love, and the Gimmes will be hitting the entire world in support of Are We Not Men? We Are Diva!, except maybe Mike, who's such a diva that he's got substitutes on hand! So grab those flowers off of your grandma's grave and head out now, to check out Me First and the Gimme Gimmes on wax and in your town, before these five outrageous harpies either kill each other or wind up as a Vegas destination act, bloated, high on pills and uh, nevermind that last part. Just go see em, eh? It's a helluva time.
