American Hustle SoundtrackLike Goodfellas and Boogie Nights before it, American Hustle's music celebrates the epic feel of '70s pop, rock, and disco and uses it to give its story extra heft. David O. Russell's tale of con men, Feds, and the mob has a lighter touch than either of those two movies, however, and this is reflected in the soundtrack's song choices. More than a few of these tracks are by Electric Light Orchestra as well as Jeff Lynne on his own, and the whimsical yet driving sound of 10538 Orchestra, Long Black Road, and Stream of Stars lends a tongue-in-cheek tone supported by Tom Jones' Delilah and Chris Stills' Live to Live. The album touches on some of the decade's definitive songs (Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Wings' Live and Let Die, Donna Summer's I Feel Love) but never sounds like a prepackaged hits-of-the-'70s collection, due in large part to unique choices like Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes' gritty version of Don't Leave Me This Way and Mayssa Karaa's otherworldly Arabic interpretation of Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit, which is so striking that it's one of the finest songs on an album packed with big names. A nuanced and playful soundtrack, American Hustle works well as a companion piece to the movie that spawned it and on its own.

Your Music is More
Everyone loves a thumping bass and kick-drum, but not at the expense of everything else. The Grado SR60e is your entry to the world of full spectrum audio. You'll actually hear notes you never knew were there. Perhaps your audiophile friends have fueled a desire for the legendary Grado sound but you thought it was out of reach. Try a pair of our affordable open-back headphones and experience fuller, more realistic sound. Club-footed imports can't match the sonic enlightenment from Brooklyn, USA.
Grado has taken one of the world's most legendary headphones and made it even better. The SR60e has a new driver design, a new polymer to better damp resonant distortion in the plastic housing, and a new cable from plug to driver connection. The way the SR60e's new driver and plastic housing move air and react to sound vibrations virtually eliminate transient distortions. This allows the signal flow over the new cable to reproduce sound that has tight control of the upper and lower range of the frequency spectrum, while supporting Grado's world renowned midrange. The SR60e will produce a sound that is pure Grado, with warm harmonic colors, rich full bodied vocals, excellent dynamics, and an ultra-smooth top end.
Frequently described as the gateway to audiophile sound, the Grado SR60 headphones hold the title of best full-size open headphones for less than $100 - many models that cost twice as much don't sound as good. The retro-looking SR60 headphones have punchy but natural sound and will floor most first-time listeners.
You'll be hard pressed to find a better pair of headphones for the money than the Grado SR60. The upper mids/highs reveal excellent detail, and the bass is solid too. I bought a pair about 8 years ago and I swear the price was the same as it is today. Good price, simple looks, practical and sophisticated where it counts: in the sound.

Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today - Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they're here to save the world!
The music is composed by Hollywood's go-to composer for edgy comedic fare Theodore Shapiro. He has consistently delivered memorable music for some of the funniest movies of the past five years. Shapiro's careful touch has made him a sought-after collaborator for some of Hollywood's leading comedy directors: David Frankel (Prada, Marley), Stiller (Tropic Thunder), John Hamburg (I Love You, Man, Along Came Polly), Mike Judge (Idiocracy) and, most recently, Harold Ramis (Year One). Shapiro, 37, is a rarity in modern film music: a classically trained composer (bachelor's degree from Brown, master's from Juilliard) who, despite commissions for classical works (including a well-received piano concerto in 1999), decided he'd rather be working in film.1. Sara WatkinsSara Watkins self-titled debut, eagerly anticipated by the significant fan base shes built after nearly two decades as fiddle player and vocalist for Grammy Award-winning trio Nickel Creek, boasts an easygoing virtuosity. The youthful Watkins, who joined Nickel Creek when she was barely in her teens, displays formidable skill as a multi- instrumentalist, playing the guitar and ukelele as well as the fiddle, and is just as versatile, and breathtakingly mature, as a singer. Watkins incorporates folk, country, gospel, and pop into her 14-song set, produced by former Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones and recorded in Los Angeles and Nashville. Shes joined by a wide range of old friends and longtime heroes, including alt-country duo Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench, and Elvis Costello drummer Pete Thomas; colleagues from the bluegrass world like Tim OBrien, Punch Brothers Chris Eldridge, Ronnie McCoury, and Rayna Gellert; and Nickel Creek band-mates Chris Thile and Sean Watkins.
Watkins mixes eight of her own songs with tunes by such artists as John Hartford, Tom Waits, and Davíd Garza. Her self-penned fiddle numbers are exuberant, foot-stomping instrumentals, while the songs for which she wrote both music and lyrics have a heart-meltingly lovelorn quality. Watkins knows how to channel in her own work the plaintive emotions of classic country and timeless pop. Theres honesty and empathy on tracks like the sweetly soulful My Friend, the brooding Bygones, and rueful album closer, Where Will You Be. She proves to be as astute as Emmylou Harris or Linda Ronstadt in her choice of covers, segueing gracefully from the aforementioned Waits, Garza and Hartford to the lighthearted country-and-western swing of Jimmie Rodgerss Any Old Time, to the world-weariness and spiritual yearning of Norman Blakes Lord Wont You Help Me, to the romantic wistfulness of Jon Brions Same Mistakes.1. Wasting LightFoo Fighters anxiously anticipated seventh album, Wasting Light, produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder, was recorded entirely on analog tape in the garage of Dave Grohls home in Californias San Fernando Valley. The new record marks the Foo Fighters first full length effort with legendary producer Butch Vig, who previously produced new tracks Wheels and Word Forward on 2009s Greatest Hits and with whom Dave Grohl (of course) first worked on Nirvanas classic Nevermind.
Nirvana co-founder Krist Novoselic also makes a cameo, contributing bass and accordion to I Should Have Known, while former Nirvana touring guitarist and longtime extended FF family member Pat Smear now joins the permanent FF core of Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel and Chris Shiflett.
The album received its first public airing at a surprise gig Friday, January 28th at the minuscule Velvet Jones club in Santa Barbara, where the band ripped through the entire record from start to finish, and followed up with a crushing live collection of greatest hits and rarely played deep cuts including Wattershed from the bands self-titled 1995 debut.

Midnight SpecialBefore Uncle Kracker spent six weeks at #1 with When the Sun Goes Down, a duet with good friend Kenny Chesney, country music might've seemed an odd place to find the Detroit-based good-time Kid Rock alumni. But as several summer tours with Chesney, the Top 5 Smile and the enduring recurrent status of Sun prove, Uncle Kracker's deep melodies and sense of what the heartland means has made him a perfect fit in today's post-rural realm of country music.
The first single Nobody's Sad on a Saturday Night, a theme song for a weekend party, from his label debut Midnight Special, has already hit the airwaves and is being embraced by Country radio. With producer Keith Stegall at the helm (Alan Jackson, George Jones and Zac Brown, as well as writing #1 songs for Jackson, George Strait and Dr. Hook), Uncle Kracker took his strong sense of melody and infectious choruses into the studio in Nashville. Writing all 11 songs with some of Nashville's best known writers, including Shane McAnally (Come Over, Somewhere with You, Last Call), Scooter Carusoe (Anything But Mine, Better as a Memory) and Chris Tompkins (Before He Cheats, Blow Away), as well as Detroit rocker JT Harding - Uncle Kracker grounds his music in bands people know, places they've been, moments they've shared and a real sense of America today.1. Little GamesBy the time Jimmy Page joined the Yardbirds in 1966, the group was already firmly established as one of the era's most innovative and creatively adventurous British bands. The addition of Page allowed the band's heady mix of blues and psychedelia to coalesce into an edgy approach that laid the stylistic groundwork for Page's next band, Led Zeppelin (who were known as the New Yardbirds in their early days).
The Yardbirds' 1967 release Little Games - produced by noted British pop guru Mickie Most - is the band's only album to be recorded entirely with Page as a member, and the only one to feature the group's final lineup of Page and founding members Keith Relf, Chris Dreja and Jim McCarty. Little Games is also a transitional effort that find the Yardbirds delving into an array of sounds and styles, from gritty blues-rock (Drinking Muddy Water) to swirly psychedelia (Glimpses) to introspective balladry (Only the Black Rose).
Several of the album's tracks can now be seen as sonic blueprints for Led Zeppelin, e.g. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor and Glimpses, both of which feature the distinctive guitar bowing technique for which Page would soon become famous. Page's acoustic instrumental showcase White Summer would later become a frequent feature of Led Zeppelin's live performances. The album also features Page's future Zep band mate John Paul Jones on bass, cello and string arrangements, along with guest appearances by UK session aces Nicky Hopkins and Clem Cattini.1. This Is Lone Justice: The Vaught Tapes, 1983First Pressing On Translucent Red Vinyl
It can be difficult to capture the live power of band on a studio recording. Thankfully, Lone Justice (Maria McKee, Ryan Hedgecock, Marvin Etzioni, and
Don Heffington) went into Suite 16 Studios in December of 1983 and laid down much of the set list they were packing Los Angeles area clubs with.
Recorded direct to 2-track tape by engineer David Vaught and with no overdubs, those twelve tracks can finally be heard in their entirety as This Is Lone
Justice: The Vaught Tapes, 1983. As Billboard's Chris Morris writes in his liner notes, the release "offers the best representation of the band in its
infancy-hot, full of piss and vinegar, and ready to take on the world."
Nine of these twelve tracks are previously unissued, and include originals (including "Soap, Soup And Salvation", which would appear on their Geffen
debut two years later) to the covers they made their
own in concert (Johnny Cash and June Carter (Cash)'s "Jackson" and "Nothing Can Stop My Loving
You," written by George Jones and Roger Miller.)
Available on LP (with the first pressing on translucent red vinyl), in addition to Morris' liners, the package contains an essay from the band's Ryan Hedgecock, as well as a remembrance of David Vaught from Marvin Etzioni and an loving endorsement from Dolly Parton. With unseen photos and memorabilia, this collection is what Lone Justice fans have been waiting for. This Is Lone Justice: The Vaught Tapes, 1983 takes us back to a time when music had an energy that was hard to contain. Black To BluesIn April 2016, Black Stone Cherry released Kentucky, to great critical and commercial success. Kentucky reached new chart peaks for the band worldwide and was followed by massive touring through the United States, Europe, and Australia. In the midst of this all, the band found the time and dedication to record Black to Blues. On this EP, the quartet of Chris Robertson (vocals, guitar), Ben Wells (guitar, vocals), Jonathan Lawhon (bass, vocals) and John Fred Young (drums, harmonica, vocals) channel their blues music roots. The EP features six blues-classics originally written and/or performed by legendary musicians like Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Booker T. Jones, Albert King and Freddy King. Summer SkinSummer Skin, the new album from Amy Cook is set for release on Roothouse Records/Thirty Tigers. The 12-songs on Summer Skin feature an all-star band, special cameos and Cook's strongest songwriting and recording to date. Cook successfully achieves the perfect balance between intelligent, thoughtful singer/songwriter and strong rock chick. Rolling Stone desribes Cook as "a brassier, dusty Deborah Harry."
Summer Skin represents a new plateau for Cook as an artist. "This is the happiest I've ever been with anything I've ever recorded," says Cook, "I was working with people who really were able to get into my mind and help me let go of my expectations, instead of worrying 'is this gonna rock hard enough or be rootsy enough or be smart enough.'"
Those people begin with producer Craig Street, whose long list of credits includes Norah Jones, Cassandra Wilson, Joe Henry and K.D. Lang. Then comes an all-star band, featuring David Garza (guitar), Me'Shell N'Degeocello (bass), Chris Bruce (guitar) and Jonathan Wilson (drums).
Cook had a few other friends make some special contributions to Summer Skin. Robert Plant sings harmony with Cook on the beautiful "It's Gonna Rain," and joins Patty Griffin on the moody "Airplane Driver." Ben Kweller co-wrote and sings back up on the catchy rocker "Getting To You."1. Waiting 4 the World 2 End

InfernoFormer MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman will release Inferno, his first solo album of original material in four years, via Prosthetic Records. The album was recorded primarily in Los Angeles with engineer Chris Rakestraw (DANZIG, CHILDREN OF BODOM) and mixed by Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH) - features what Friedman recently told Guitar World is the most intense writing and playing I can do. The album also includes notable guest appearances by several artists influenced by Friedman, including flamenco/metal acoustic guitar duo RODRIGO Y GABRIELA, CHILDREN OF BODOM frontman Alexi Laiho, SKYHARBOR mastermind Keshav Dhar and REVOCATION guitar whiz David Davidson, as well as Friedman's first songwriting collaboration with Jason Becker since the pair played together in CACOPHONY, the pioneering duo of guitar mayhem.
In addition, Inferno breaks all genre rules and creates new ones with an exhilarating and musically daring mash-up with Jørgen Munkeby of the acclaimed blackjazz act SHINING, as well as two tracks featuring vocals by rock guru Danko Jones. SanctuaryNow heavily influenced by the earth-shaking creations of two master musicians -John Coltrane and Ravi Shankar-the Byrds began recording their new single, Eight Miles High and Why, along with tracks for their upcoming album Fifth Dimension at Columbia Studios in Hollywood. Growing more confident by the day in their studio acumen and songwriting skills, the Byrds logged long nights of hypnotic in-studio jamming, then hammered the white-hot magma into songs that will live forever. McGuinn's solos soared as never before, his technique now fusing the familiar, melodic overtones of the Rickenbacker 12-string with a powerfully new staccato dissonance absorbed from the majestic saxophone of John Coltrane. Michael Clarke's drumming never sounded better, his Elvin Jones-like cymbal splashes and rolling-tom thunder driving the band like an atomic generator approaching critical mass. Chris Hillman's swooping bass lines took on a McCartney-esque timbre that filled in every corner of the canvas with bold, melodic strokes. But it was perhaps David Crosby, playing in a brashly percussive way no one had ever heard before from a rhythm guitarist, who best digested and interpreted the Eastern influences of the day: the ragas and talas of Ravi Shankar. Crosby's contribution to Fifth Dimensionwas as outspoken and defiant as the man, himself. Acreative zenith in the Byrds' career, these fascinating sessions deserve closer scrutiny than they've previously been afforded. Alternate instrumental takes and extended experimental workouts give essential insight here into the songs' final versions. Also included are early versions of songs before the addition of any studio sweetening-strings, percussion or sound effects. To top things off, we've included a small handful of unique finds that give a fly-on-the-wall glimpse into the creation of one of the most important records of our time.1. EIGHT MILES HIGH

Just As I Am (Speakers Corner) (Out Of Stock)
Just As I Am - anyone who sets off on a late career can already have earned himself quite a reputation, although in the case of Bill Withers it had had nothing to do with music at this stage. Withers served for many years with the US Navy, had a job as a milkman, and installed toilets in jets for American aeroplane construction companies; all the while he bombarded record companies with self-produced demo tapes which landed in the dustbin. In 1971 came his breakthrough when the successful producer Booker T. Jones hauled him on board and sent him into the recording studio with guitarist Stephen Stills, drummer Al Jackson and bass player Donald 'Duck' Dunn.
In his debut album Withers demonstrates his universal, mature competence as a singer, composer and performer, which was hardly surpassed in his later recordings. Harlem, an unadorned milieu-funk number about the New York slums, Grandma's Hands, with its obligatory retrospect of his childhood, and the sentimental ballad Ain't No Sunshine with its prayer-wheel-like »I know, I know ...«, repeated over and over again on the offbeat, are the musical credo of a experienced artist in his mid-thirties who at last is given a hearing. There's simply no alternative to this recording by the great songwriter with the small repertoire.

About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.
and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.
