King Of The StrollImport
Though well known to his fans as the 'Sheik of the Blues,' thanks to the gigantic private collection of colorful turbans he wore on stage, by the end of 1957 the Atlanta-born Chuck Willis found himself crowned with yet another title, 'The King of the Stroll.' When the new dance step, The Stroll, began sweeping the US, his Betty And Dupree 45 had just been released, making it immediately clear that the groovy, slow tempo type of music to which the Stroll was danced went perfectly with the type of music Chuck Willis was releasing for Okeh Records, such as his irresistible update of C.C. Rider, a classic folk blues performed by Ma Rainey in Atlanta before Willis was even born, along with a plethora of R&B top sellers. These Okeh singles were later collected by Atlantic on this 1958 LP, The King Of The Stroll.1. Betty And Dupree

One Way or AnotherImport
One Way... Or Another was the second studio outing of supergroup Cactus. Existing of Vanilla Fudge rhythm section Carmine Appice (drums) and Tim Bogert (bass), as well as former Amboy Dukes lead vocalist Rusty Day (vocals/mouth harp), and Jim McCarty (guitar) from Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels and the Buddy Miles Express.
The album offers eight tracks of which are six originals and two covers. Kicking off with one from the latter column, it's the unexpected slow and heavy take on Little Richard's Long Tall Sally. The other cover, a version of Chuck Willis' Feel So Bad, is more than serviceable but it's really the originals that are the stars of this show. Highlights are including Rock N' Roll Children, Big Mama Boogie - Parts I & II, and the title track, which closes the album in suitably kick-ass fashion.
This album is well crafted and flows dramatically from one song to the other without a dull moment. Anyone with a liking for early 70's blues oriented rock will love this album.1. Long Tall Sally

Red Beans And Weiss
Executive Produced By Johnny Depp and Tom Waits
Which Chuck E. Weiss do we talk about here? The one who so impressed blues legends Lightnin'
Hopkins and Willie Dixon as a Denver teenager that they took him out in their road bands? The one
who lived in LA's Tropicana Hotel in the 70s alongside Tom Waits and Rickie Lee Jones, ending up
namechecked on the classic Waits albums Small Change and Nighthawks at the Diner, and in Rickie Lee Jones' hit "Chuck E.'s in Love"? The one who has recorded with Tom Waits, Muddy Waters,
Howlin' Wolf, Roger Miller, Dr. John, Willie Dixon? Whichever Chuck E. Weiss you choose, he's a
legend, and his new album Red Beans and Weiss delivers on the big personality. Executive produced

Let Freedom RingImport
Prophet started his wild ride back in 1984, when Green on Red, the
seminal purveyors of American Rock-Roots, plucked him out of
Berkeley, CA and threw him in the van for an eight-year ride, and the
recording of as many albums. Since then Prophet has recorded nine
amazing solo albums and toured and recorded with the likes of
Lucinda Williams, Aimee Mann, Cake, and Jonathan Richman, not to
mention production credits for Warren Zevon, Alejandro Escovedo
and Kelly Willis. Ryan Adams, Solomon Burke and Heart have
recorded his songs, along with a host of others. Prophet has never
been one to rest on his laurels and ride it out.
For his ninth solo album Let Freedom Ring, Chuck reached out to
some musicians and talked them into going down to Mexico City, The
Biggest City in the World (pop. 25 million). Recorded at Estudio 19, a
state-ofthe- art studio (well, circa 1958 state-of-the-art anyway) with
Greg Leisz (Beck, Wilco, Emmylou Harris) coproducing.
Within three days of arriving swine flu broke out and the indignity of
having to wear blue surgical masks just to fit in.
Over the course of the next eight days, the band set about recording
¡Let Freedom Ring!, enduring a poorly timed blackout, shakedowns
by the Policia, and a 6.4 earthquake mid-take - Mexico City might only
be 4 hours away by plane but it might as well have been on the other
side of the moon. But whilst mayhem ensued, the band buckled down
to the task in hand, all set up together in a tight little bamboo lined
room with the amps cranked. Chuck played his Fender Squire, Kelly
Stoltz on backing vocals, Rusty Miller (Jason Lyte‟s band) played
bass while Drummer Ernest Boom Carter turned his sticks into
kindling. Carter played on Springsteen‟s Born To Run - he promptly
quit the E Street Band after they spent 6 months recording it. The
results can be heard from the Clash inspired opener to the power pop
of Let Freedom Ring‟ and the Eddie Cochran infused Good Time

The third Carlos Santana solo album marks a surprising turn toward 1950s rock & roll and Tex-Mex, with covers such as Bo Diddley's "Who Do You Love" and Chuck Berry's title song. The album features performances by Booker T & the MGs, Willie Nelson and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and also Carlos' father Jose singing "Vereda Tropical" - a song Carlos had first heard when his father was serenading his mother following an argument.
Produced by veteran R&B producers Jerry Wexler and Barry Beckett, the album features an eclectic mix of sidemen, including Booker T. Jones of Booker T & the MG's, Willie Nelson, Jimmie Vaughan, Flaco JimÉnez, Stephen Kupka (of Tower Of Power) and many more.

Blue & LonesomePressed On Two 180 Gram LPs And Housed In A Gatefold Sleeve
"This album is manifest testament to the purity of their love for making music, and the blues is, for the Stones, the fountainhead of everything they do."
-Don Was, Co-Producer of 'Blue & Lonesome'
The Rolling Stones are set to release 'Blue & Lonesome', their first studio album in over a decade. Recorded in just three days in London, England, 'Blue & Lonesome' takes the band back to their roots and the passion for blues music which has always been at the heart and soul of The Rolling Stones.
Their approach to the album was that it should be spontaneous and played live in the studio without overdubs. The band - Mick Jagger (vocals & harp), Keith Richards (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums), and Ronnie Wood (guitar) were joined by their long time touring sidemen Darryl Jones (bass), Chuck Leavell (keyboards) and Matt Clifford (keyboards) and, for two of the twelve tracks, by old friend Eric Clapton, who happened to be in the next studio making his own album.
'Blue & Lonesome' sees the Rolling Stones tipping their hats to their early days as a blues band when they played the music of Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Eddie Taylor, Little Walter and Howlin' Wolf - artists whose songs are featured on this album.LP 1

Blue SmokeDolly Parton represents many things to different people, and the Country Music Hall of Fame member says her upcoming release is a reflection of her varied musical sides. The singer will release Blue Smoke in 2014 for Sony Music Masterworks in partnership with her own Dolly Records, and she stresses there's a little bit of something for everyone.
On this [album] I think there are all of the colors of my life in all the areas of music that you've allowed me to dabble in through the years, said Parton You will hear my old world mountain voice on songs like 'Banks of The Ohio' and 'If I Had Wings' my tender side on songs like 'Miss You - Miss Me' and 'Unlikely Angel.' My country / bluegrass side of songs like 'Home,' 'Blue Smoke' and 'Don't Think Twice' and my funny tongue-in-cheek side on 'Lover du Jour.
The album also contains her Grammy-nominated collaboration with Kenny Rogers, You Can't Make Old Friends, as well as a track with Willie Nelson, From Here To The Moon and Back.
Beginning with the release of Just Between You and Me with Porter Wagoner in 1968, Parton has placed 41 albums in the top ten of the Billboard Country Albums chart. Her most recent trip into that territory was 2009's Backwoods Barbie. Between record sales and digital downloads, she is one of a handful of female vocalists to sell over 100 million records during her career. She was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1969, won the CMA Entertainer of the Year award in 1978, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999.

Silk DegreesSilk Degrees by Boz Scaggs was not only one of the finest examples of crossover soul, pop & rock ever recorded, but it was also one of the biggest albums of the 70's & included some of the finest grooves ever played by Boz Scaggs, which netted him a Grammy for his mega number one hit Lowdown.Other major hit singles included in this ltd. ed HQ vinyl edition are Lido Shuffle, Georgia & It's Over. Other artists covered songs from this watershed album & had major hits themselves, which further illustrates the importance of this highly loved LP. Includes bonus LIVE cd in the first 1000 copies!
Personnel: Boz Scaggs (vocals); Fred Tackett, Louie Shelton (guitars); Les Dudek (slide guitar); Plas Johnson (tenor saxophone, horns); Bud Shank (saxophones, horns); Chuck Findley (horns, flugelhorn); Jim Horn, Tom Scott, Dick Hyde, Paul Hubinon, Vincent deRosa (horns); David Paich (keyboards, synthesizer); David Hungate (bass); Jeff Porcaro (drums, percussion); Carolyn Willis, Marty McCall, Jim Gilstrap, Augie Johnson, Maxine Green, Pepper Swenson (background vocals).
Recorded at Davlen Sound Studios and Hollywood Sound Studios, Los Angeles, California. Boz Scaggs's 1976 breakthrough, SILK DEGREES, was not only his biggest-selling album, it was also one of his best. Here Scaggs collaborated with keyboardist and bandleader David Paich, who would soon form the hugely successful band Toto with this record's drummer, Jeff Porcaro. In Paich, Scaggs found a foil who added just enough pop gloss to make his blues- and R&B-tinged material palatable to the masses. Crucially, though, the pair keeps Scaggs's remarkable voice at the center of things, never going too far overboard with the studio polish. As a result, hit singles Lowdown and, particularly, the horn-spiked R&B of Lido Shuffle still sound fresh, while the ballads remain soulful. A year or so later, Rita Coolidge would take one of those ballads, We're All Alone, into the Billboard Top Ten with her own version.
