    Coast To Coast

The River City Tanlines (named in honor of the farmer tan) is a three-piece rock band from Memphis, TN. Principle songwriter and hardest working woman in the music business, Alicja Trout, is a veteran of countless noteworthy punk/indie bands over the years, including The Clears, The Lost Sounds and her current projects Alicja-pop, MouseRocket and Black Sunday. Likewise the powerful rhythm section of Terrence Bishop and John Bonds are no strangers to the scene either, having played together behind such names as Jack Oblivion, R.L. Burnside, Jim Dandy & Black Oak Arkansas, and Monsieur Jeffrey Evans.

In 2009 the River City Tanlines appeared in Craig Brewer's (Hustle and Flow, Black Snake Moan) web-series Five Dollar Cover for MTV, and performed I'm Your Negative in a rollerderby fight scene. They also have a song (Black Knight, a crowd favorite at live shows) featured in the EA Sports video game Skate. Together since late 2004, the band has toured extensively in North America and Europe playing clubs and festivals, and has ten releases on various record labels around the world. Their last album I'm Your Negative was released in 2006 by Dirtnap Records out of Portland, OR.

This, their newest offering, Coast To Coast, was produced by Bruce Watson (Hasil Adkins, T-Model Ford, John Paul Keith) at his Dial Back Sound Studios and will be released on Big Legal Mess Records/Fat Possum. The 10-song set runs the gamut from the galloping opener I Don't Get It to the poppy Stop My Heart to the Ramones-esque Pretty Please and the psyche rock of Dark Matter, all adding up to what is sure to become another Memphis classic!

    Songs From The West Coast

West Coast is a stripped down, lyric driven album reminiscent of Elton's early 1970's releases. The standout track is "I Want Love," a return to form for both Elton and Bernie Taupin. Guests include Stevie Wonder, Rufus Wainright and Garly Barlow. On 180-gram heavyweight vinyl. First time on vinyl and one in a series of vinyl releases to mark Elton John's 50th anniversary in the music industry.

    Somewhere On The Golden Coast

This LA bands 2nd album is a remarkable set of classic-sounding indie-rock with clear echoes of Pavement, the Hold Steady, the Replacements and early Built to Spill, but they find their own voice with detailed songs that split the difference between sardonic and heartfelt when describing the music scene, living in debt and working part-time, transforming everyday subject matter into raging, celebratory anthems for slacker rock n rollers and other folks just trying to make ends meet. - KEXP

LPs Cut from the Original Masters at Sterling Sound by Iconic Engineer George Marino

58-Track Behemoth Includes 45 Previously Unreleased Hendrix Studio and Live Recordings

Hendrix's Journey Traced in Music: From Little-Known R&B Sideman to Rock Superstar

Ultimate Hendrix Set is the Jewel of Legacy's Catalog Restoration Project

The wave of newly re-mastered, all-analog Jimi Hendrix titles culminates in the long awaited release of West Coast Seattle Boy: The Jimi Hendrix Anthology. This definitive career-spanning 8-LP Box Set tracks Hendrixs remarkable journey from R&B sideman to international guitar hero. The deluxe set is filled with previously unreleased Jimi Hendrix Experience recordings plus demos, alternate takes, and more. This newly assembled Jimi Hendrix anthology also includes a new Hendrix documentary DVD, directed by the Grammy award-winning Bob Smeaton (Beatles Anthology, Festival Express, and Beatles: The Studio Recordings). The LPs have been cut from the original masters at Sterling Sound in Manhattan by iconic engineer George Marino.

This long-awaited career-spanning box set tracks Hendrix's remarkable journey from little known R&B sideman to international stardom through an unprecedented assemblage of previously unavailable recordings. West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology is not a collection of existing Hendrix albums but instead 45 unreleased Hendrix live and studio recordings including demos and alternate versions of songs from Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold As Love, and Electric Ladyland.

West Coast Seattle Boy includes Hendrixs never before heard version of Bob Dylans 'Tears Of Rage, solo acoustic recordings of Electric Ladyland favorites like Long Hot Summer Night and 1983 (A Merman I Shall Turn To Be) as well as never before heard live performances from Berkeley and the legendary Band Of Gypsys Fillmore East concert on New Year's Eve 1969 combined together with such new Hendrix songs as Hear My Freedom, Hound Dog Blues, Lonely Avenue and more.

A centerpiece achievement in Legacy Recordings' monumental Jimi Hendrix catalog project, West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology is the first Hendrix collection to bring fans access to a comprehensive treasure trove of fresh material -- including demos, alternate takes, live concert jewels and more -- from all phases of the artist's recording career (1964 -1970). It offers the most complete collection of Jimi's pre-Experience R&B performances (including his singles with the Isley Brothers, Little Richard, Don Covay, King Curtis and more) to ever be officially anthologized, while bringing together the most comprehensive and revelatory set of fully realized songs, never before heard live performances, alternate studio takes, acoustic and electric demos, and other rarities drawn from every chapter of Hendrix's remarkable life and career.

The newly curated and assembled West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology also includes Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Child, a new 90-minute documentary directed by the multiple Grammy-award winning Bob Smeaton (Beatles Anthology, Festival Express, Beatles: The Studio Recordings, Band of Gypsys). An autobiographical journey told in the legendary musician's own words as read by Parliament-Funkadelic's Bootsy Collins, the film incorporates interviews with Hendrix, coupled with the artist's letters, writings and recordings to provide new insight into one of the most enduring icons of popular culture.

The documentary features some of Jimi's greatest performances as well as rare and never before seen footage and photos including--for the first time ever--examples from the Hendrix family archive of the late guitarists personal drawings, postcards home to his father, song drafts, sketches, and lyrics.

Who better to tell the incredible story of a man's life than the man himself? Jimi was amazing and only his music, with tones and textures that he conjured, can capture the colorful and expansive essence of his time here on earth. I am enthralled with this all-encompassing new anthology which not only illuminates his years on both sides of the Atlantic and beautifully reveals his versatility as a performer, from his R&B origins to his explosion on the pop culture scene, but highlights who he was for those who knew and loved him, says Janie Hendrix, President and CEO of Experience Hendrix and co-producer of West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology.

An essential and historic addition to the Jimi Hendrix catalog, West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology brings together, for the first time, many of Hendrix's earliest commercial recordings, providing a rare glimpse of the rising rock guitar hero through a series of stellar sideman performances on a set of highly collectible pre-Experience R&B singles.

Included on the first 2LPs of West Coast Seattle Boy:

    1. Isley Brothers - Testify (1964
    2. Don Covay & the Goodtimers - Mercy, Mercy (1964 - #1 Cashbox R&B - #35 Billboard Hot 100)

    14. Billy Lamont - Sweet Thang (1968)

    East Coasting (Pure Pleasure)

Charles Mingus is usually known for his wild, soulful and avant-garde compositions. East Coasting is mellow by comparison, but it still cooks on a musical level. The Mingus touches are there; the trombone, drummer Danny Richmond and of course the dark emotional undercurrent looms large, too. The personnel are all Mingus regulars, except for pianist Bill Evans, who would not be described as 'soulful' in the traditional sense, but his introverted and sensitive style works well with Mingus's music. His playing on West Coast Ghost (the album's stand-out track) and Celia are two examples of Evans' ability to understand an artist's musical vision and play accordingly in his own beautifully original style.East Coasting sounds like the prototypical 1950s jazz recording. It's something one would hear in an attic converted to a bedroom where an artist or lonely soul might live. It's what a lot of people might believe Jazz would or should sound like. Highly recommended to Jazz lovers and perhaps more importantly to young people who have just been blown away by Kerouac's novel On The Road and have become interested in exploring Jazz. East Coasting will allow them to get a taste of lost creative America.

    Musicians:

    • Charles Mingus (bass)

    • Clarence Shaw (trumpet)

    • Jimmy Knepper (trombone)

    • Shafi Hadi (tenor saxophone, alto saxophone)

    • Bill Evans (piano)

    • Dannie Richmond (drums)

Recording: August 1957 in New York City

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    California Nights

Best Coast - singer/songwriter/guitarist Bethany Cosentino and guitarist Bobb Bruno - will release their third full length album, entitled California Nights, on Harvest Records. California Nights - produced by Wally
Gagel (Miley Cyrus, New Order, Muse), and recorded at WAX LTD in Hollywood, California - is a brighter, more
sparkly, more sophisticated, more psychedelic Best Coast album across the board, embodying the rich lightness
and stinging darkness of a California state of mind.

Formed in Los Angeles in 1965, The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band were considered by many to be the West Coast's answer to the Velvet Underground. The group created California psych/rock music that was both fragile and dreamy.

Part One was originally released in 1967 on Frank Sinatra's Reprise Records. Though they didn't achieve the fame or notoriety of other bands from the area, they have nonetheless achieved a cult status among collectors and people curious about a rich, albeit short-lived musical genre known as WestCoast Psychedelia.

    The Only Place

The Only Place is the follow-up to Best Coast's acclaimed 2010 album Crazy For You and it finds the proudly Southern California duo of Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno maturing in both their sound and perspective. While Crazy For You was a nostalgic tribute to teenage feelings, this new album finds front woman Cosentino transitioning into adulthood, with the feeling of uncertainty and self-doubt at the emotional center of the album. The Only Place also features a love song to her home state of California in the title track. All encompassed in the memorable album cover, derived from a 1913 sheet music illustration paying homage to the golden state.

As with all of Best Coast's previous recordings, on The Only Place, Cosentino handles all songwriting lyrics, vocals and rhythm guitar, while multi-instrumentalist Bobb Bruno plays lead guitar, bass and drums. What's new this time is their decision to work with producer and composer Jon Brion. A revered figure in the music world, Brion has collaborated with artists like Fiona Apple and Kanye West and created scores for such films as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Punch-Drunk Love.

Recorded at Capitol Records' famed Studio B, The Only Place features a cleaner and richer sound than other Best Coast releases. Many of the songs' arrangements are detailed with subtle percussion and unexpected instrumentation. Intricate but never overworked, the biggest change from previous releases is how it showcases Cosentino's voice, this time letting it ring clear, unhidden by distortion and reverb.

    Fade Away

Fade Away is the first release on Bethany Cosentino's Jewel City label. It sets Best Coast off on a new burst of independence and creativity.
And it reflects the increased confidence that Cosentino and her band mate, multi-instrumentalist Bobb Bruno, gained in the three surreal years since
their break-through album Crazy For You. Celebrated as darlings of the lo-fi, it lead to defiantly hi-fi events like performing with childhood idols,
Green Day and No Doubt, dueting with Kendrick Lamar and Iggy Pop, having Drew Barrymore direct their Chloe Moretz-starring video, creating a new
collection for Urban Outfitters, and working with the widescreen producer Jon Brion, who's overseen master-pieces by Kanye West and Fiona Apple on an album that made Rolling Stone and Spin Magazine's Top Albums of 2012.

Best Coast has taken the best elements of their previous records and combined them with more guitar, more conviction, and a louder more energized feel than ever before. They took complete ownership of their sound and their direction with a determined focus on who they are and who they want to be.

"It's kind of like if you took Crazy For You and The Only Place and created a baby out of them -- that's what Fade Away is. It's not super lo-fi and DIY sounding, but it's not too produced either."

Released in 1967 on Reprise Records as a follow-up to Part One, Vol. 2 takes the band into more ambitious territory. Reaching out to more psychedelic territory than the debut LP, Vol. 2 maintains their unique pop sound mixed with ominous fuzz guitar, jumping from graceful folk-rock to wailing guitar freakouts, to multilayered avant-garde compositions at a moment's notice.

    Stone Beads And Silver

Marc Carroll weaves together folk and country influences on Stone Beads and Silver, an album that evokes the space and distance of the deserts and coasts of California. To record the album Marc put together a band boasting some of the best musicians working in American music today, including Bo Koster (My Morning Jacket), Nelson Bragg & Probyn Gregory (Brian Wilson), McKenzie Smith (Midlake) and Larry Campbell (Bob Dylan, Levon Helm).

    Memorial

When Brownie stood up and took his first solo on 'Philly J J,' I nearly fell off my seat in the control room. The power, range and brilliance together with the
warmth and invention was something that I hadn't heard since Fats Navarro, stated famed jazz historian Ira Gitler, who happened to be supervising the
1953 session that yielded part of Memorial. Indeed, trumpeter Clifford Brown is heard here in fine form in two unrelated sessions. On four selections,
Brown coasts effortlessly along with Tadd Dameron's Orchestra, sharing the solo spotlight with Benny Golson on tenor and Gigi Gryce on alto. On the
remainder of the album, composed from material cut in Sweden the same year, Brown is joined by fellow trumpeter Art Farmer for four Quincy Jones
arrangements with a Swedish group that includes altoist Arne DomnÉrus, baritonist Lars Gullin, and pianist Bengt Hallberg. On whole, this is classic,
sophisticated material that deserves a place in every jazz vinyl collection.

    Greatest Of Deceivers

Limited Edition 180-Gram White Vinyl Pressing Of Band's 3rd Full Length Album.

Greatest of Deceivers, the fourth album by Borre, Norway's Nidingr since 1996, the group takes a black metal approach to a lengthy list of influences. The group's mastermind, Morten Iversen, better known as Teloch, has been involved in the Scandinavian black metal scene since the prime of its second wave when it was ruled by a hardline orthodoxy that didn't allow for much in the way of crossover, and when a lot of other metal scenes didn't want much to do with it in return.

Despite his involvement with such classically-minded groups as Mayhem, Gorgoroth, 1349, and Ov Hell, Iversen's got an especially broad sonic vision. Greatest of Deceivers is a dense and complex mass made up of songs that themselves generally have more discrete movements than you can count on one hand. Some of them offer blackened takes on full-throttle death metal and crust punk. Others offer complicated leads and tricky time signatures that hint at mathcore and sometimes even at a particularly gnarly interpretation of jazz. Occasionally the group cuts back the aggression sharply and coasts into near-ambiance. In terms of compositional ambition the songs are closer to the labyrinthine post-rock and post-hardcore bands of the mid to late 90s than the savagely straightforward black metal outfits that were operating around the same time.

After spending two years living on opposite coasts and pursuing their own
creative projects, Ivan Howard and Kelly Crisp returned last spring to set to
work on the sixth full-length album from the Rosebuds. Joining up with Bon
Iver frontman Justin Vernon (a friend and former bandmate who, in a 2011
interview, noted that the Rosebuds make "some of the most important
music in the world"), the North Carolina-bred duo spent a week in Vernon's
studio teasing out a batch of songs that effortlessly weave the hooky song-craft of classic jangle-pop, the cagey romanticism of new wave, and a
refined yet full-hearted sensibility all their own. Featuring Vernon on guitar
and synths-as well as Bon Iver drummer Matt McCaughan and Sylvan Esso's
Nick Sanborn on bass, both longtime pals and cohorts of the Rosebuds-the
resulting Sand + Silence radiates both a graceful intensity and the loose,
joyful energy that comes from making music with friends.

    Dream Center

Couple Skate Records are extremely excited to announce the signing of
Los Angeles-based songwriter Michael Vidal. After years of blazing coasts
and continents, DIY enclaves and contempo-art spaces alike as the singer
/ guitarist of LA punks Abe Vigoda, Michael Vidal has stepped out of the
combustible, hyper-color tropical punk of his former group, and onto his own
into more pastoral, lush territory. Dream Center is Vidal's inaugural work,
originally released onto cassette in 2013 from LA label Big Joy, reissued onto
all additional formats from Couple Skate Records.

The music of Dream Center is a wonderful and diverse spectrum of looping,
beautiful guitar pop (featured on "Dreams" and "Appraisal") that evokes the
deeper emotional shades of the likes Blue Nile and Prefab Sprout, and crystalline
instrumental pieces ("Mono No Aware") reminiscent of Durutti Column
and the earlier days of Felt. All touchstones aside, the music of Vidal's Dream
Center is an impressionist paean to love, loss, and existence, an exciting new
beginning for a uniquely creative spirit.
