Mini MansionsOn a break from Queens of the Stone Age, Michael Shuman melded heads and locked arms with longtime friends Tyler Parkford and Zach Dawes in a dusty room in the San Fernando Valley. Here, they began a collaborative sÉance out of which birthed Mini Mansions in January of 2009. Though their triangle is usually confined to piano, bass, and a cocktail drum kit, the LA-based trio generates a technicolor spectrum of sound drawn from the baroque, gothic, psychedelic, and cinematic realms. Live At The Grand Olympic AuditoriumZack de la Rocha, Tim Commerford, Tom Morello and Brad Wilk formed Rage Against The Machine in 1991 and released their highly successful self-titled debut album in 1992. Their fiercely polemical music against cultural imperialism and government oppression, mixed into a Molotov cocktail of punk, hip hop and thrash was a groundbreaking style.
Live At The Grand Olympic Auditorium is a double LP and contains material of Rage Against The Machine's last two shows recorded in September 2000.

Strange FigurinesSince 2006 - when Scott Butler, Landon Thompson and John Aldridge formed The Black & White Years - their sifter has been shaking beyond the status quo. They've released two albums and one EP. Topped radio charts. Shifted directions. Nearly broken up. Added members. Won awards. And now, seven years post, what's left at the bottom of the sieve are the undeniably solid pieces of a band arriving at a capstone.
Strange Figurines is that stone. It is the unalloyed chunk that endured best and worst times, youthful decisions, egos, changes, collaborations and maturity, to become an album embodying not just style or substance. But a perfectly mixed cocktail of them both.
Strange Figurines was produced by Danny Reisch (What Made Milwaukee Famous, Dana Falconberry, Okkervil River, Shearwater and White Denim).1. Embraces

Terrestrial GriefIt's apparent from the get-go: Omotai is a band that know what they want to accomplish and how to knock it out. Following two US tours and supporting slots for The Sword, Yob, Dark Castle, Thrones, Big Business and countless others, Omotai release their follow-up LP Terrestrial Grief.
The songs are brief, frenetic explosions of sound, a deft blend of grindcore, sludge, progressive noise-rock, math metal and whatever else happens to be blowing the band's skirt up at the time, all of it reaching your ears sopping with distortion and twisted to superior volume. Melissa Lonchambon Ryan's omnipresent bass rumble lines up with Sam Waters' relentless guitar riffery like a taloned fist to a shredded glove, while Anthony Vallejo's incomparable percussive bloodlust feels more like machine-gun-equipped battalions bent on sheer attrition. All three members share vocal duties seamlessly, razored shrieks punctuated by Ryan's wispy alto, the lyrics an outlandish cocktail of drunken nihilism and avant-garde sci-fi. A tough band to pigeonhole, granted, but definitely one worth seeking out.

Descending Angel'90s-era MISFITS fiend fave Descending Angel has been re-recorded with a brand new 2013 treatment by The Devil's Rain lineup (Jerry Only, Dez Cadena and Eric Chupacabra Arce).
The new single features wicked cover art by Jeff Zornow.
MISFITS released their first proper live album since the 1980s, Dea.d. Alive!, on February 5.
With select tracks from the band's encore set at their hometown show in New Jersey added for good measure, (recorded live on Devil's Night, no less), Dea.d. Alive! is an audio Molotov cocktail guaranteed to have bonfires burning bright with pumpkin faces, day or night, all year round. Speakers will virtually melt as a torrential downpour of Devil's Rain engulfs the senses, catapulting you front row center into a jam-packed house of horrors.
The diverse set of modern day MISFITS classics included range from current hits like Land Of The Dead and Curse Of The Mummy's Hand, on through all-new live versions of earlier-era material like Scream!, Dig Up Her Bones, Helena and more - recorded live, with a level of precision and intensity garnered in over three decades of horror business. In addition to 13 fiendish faves from the band's cryptic catalog, the live set also includes a cover version of the anthem Science Fiction/Double Feature (from the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show) performed by the MISFITS for the first time ever on any release!

Fool's GoldTranslucent Gold Vinyl
My greatest hope is that it ends up becoming the soundtrack to some perfect romance, or at the very least a great cocktail party," says Jill Barber of her new album, 'Fool's Gold. Jill - aka "Canada's sweetheart" - is a two-time Juno Award nominee and Montreal Jazz Fest headliner whose last album hit #1 on the iTunes Jazz charts, and landed her a national segment with NPR. She has collaborated with Josh Ritter, Ron Sexsmith, and Kris Kristofferson has called her a "damn good songwriter." She also published a children's book, entitled 'Music is for Everyone,' this May. 'Fool's Gold' explores every nook of Jill's musical history: sultry torch songs, Hank Williams-inspired ballads, an homage to the golden era of the Brill Building, Motown and beyond. Lead single "Broken For Good" ventures into the early days of Motown with its strong backbeat, horns, a driving bass line and immediate pop appeal. She channels Patsy Cline on "The Careless One," a bittersweet Western, full of resignation and sorrow. As Jill puts it, "It hurts me to sing it, just a little. But that's how I know it is a keeper." Motörhead, Kings of the Road for over förty years, are immortalized one more
time in Clean Your Clock, the superb live album recorded at The Zenith in
Munich, Germany during the Winter 2015 Bad Magic tour.
The indomitable cocktail of power, purpose and head-crunching volume that Lemmy Kilmister,
Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee always succeeded in producing is captured
superbly by long-time producer Cameron Webb's mix, giving this landmark
Motörhead release the warmth, curve and punch which helped the band
achieve international acclaim during a career which saw the Grammy-winning
icons sell over 15 million albums and play to millions worldwide.
Clean Your Clock is also a fitting salute to the power of Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister,
who founded Motörhead back in 1975 and so sadly passed away on Dec 28th
2015. Recorded only weeks before, Lemmy snarls, roars and bangs that bass
with the magisterial air of a man who knows he's a leader.

How To Die In The NorthLost treasure needn't be found in the distant past; the 21st century hides many artists who disappeared into the great wide yonder. BC Camplight is one such example. The alter-ego of American songwriter Brian Christinzio released albums in 2005 and 2007, both gems of a certain psych-pop vintage, combining eloquent songwriting with a self-destructive bent. Christinzio certainly knew it - he's described himself as, "the guy who blew it."
But this sublime talent with the keening vocal and fearless approach to lyrical introspection has another chance. His new album 'How To Die In The North', recorded in his newly adopted home of Manchester, England, is a fantastically rich, stylistically diverse trip. From dramatic, layered pop to a haunted take on Sixties sunshine-pop, from blue-eyed soul to speedy surf-pop, from sparser piano balladry to psychedelic showstoppers and a grand finale that's part Nilsson and part Broadway showtune.
Originally from New Jersey, Christinzio started playing piano aged just four, inspired by his mum's Jerry Lee Lewis and Nilsson records and his Dad's classical collection. Depression and crippling hypochondria clashed with captaining the football team and a penchant for boxing. Post-school, he fell in with people, "willing to go through shit to be a musician," which saw him relocate to Philadelphia where he occasionally played live with Philly faves The War On Drugs and guested on Sharon Van Etten's album 'Epic'.
He's already done two sessions for long-term fan Marc Riley at BBC 6 Music, which featured Christinzio's band of Mancunians who he met at The Castle Hotel pub, a watering hole in the city centre particularly popular with musicians. Christinzio also heard John Grant's album on the jukebox there, which encouraged him to approach Bella Union. Grant's cocktail of depression and self-sabotage thwarted an outrageous talent, but he took his second chance. The same deserves to happen to Christinzio, a similarly outsize, sharp and funny personality with a non-conformist streak. Far from dying, BC Camplight has been reborn in the North!1. Helen of TroyTo his chagrin, John Cale's record label released his unfinished demo tapes while he was busy producing Patti Smith's groundbreaking Horses. But to his surprise, the resulting album, Helen of Troy, is considered the most stylistically cohesive of the eclectic Island Trilogy, the trio of albums Cale recorded for Island Records during the course of 1974-75. Featuring Brian Eno's lithe synthesizer, Phil Collins' expert drumming, and Cale's manic streetwise songwriting, Helen of Troy delivers more sophistication than most final cuts, and cuts deeper in its roughness.
Back on domestic vinyl for the first time in decades, this RTI-pressed edition of Helen of Troy is cut at Mobile Fidelity by in-house engineer Krieg Wunderlich and features stunning sonics. Quiet surfaces, faithful artwork, and the opportunity to hear Cale's engaging fare unfold amidst wide soundstages and black backgrounds-not to mention the moody content within-make this Wax Cathedral LP a must for music aficionados.
From the celestial opening strains of My Maria, which sounds in places like a hymn, to the teeth-gnashing Sudden Death, Cale shows us heaven, hell, and the life in between. Employing a cocktail of wild experimentation, tonal versatility, and range of emotion, Cale's compositions whip from soaring serenades like I Keep a Close Watch to the unhinged, wild-eyed Leaving It Up to You (pulled from the original release due to its reference to the murder of Sharon Tate) to the soulful, surf-derived China Sea. Eno's synthesizer casts love spells and shadows while Chris Spedding's guitar drills bluesy, ragged holes through every composition. A tormented, sinister cover of the Modern Lovers' Pablo Picasso (Cale produced the Lovers' debut) shows what you get when you replace Jonathan Richman's dreamy smile with Cale's bared teeth.
Although we'll never know what the one-time Velvet Underground cohort had in mind for the finished product, with its labyrinthine arrangements, theatrical spontaneity, and primal rawness, Helen of Troy is a gem that's better unpolished.1. My Maria

ADAD-SAC-9441xAtticus Ross, Leopold Ross and Bobby Krlic
Almost Holy: Original SoundtrackAfter the collapse of the Soviet Union, a number of Ukraine's youth wound up
homeless and addicted to a lethal cocktail of injected cold medicine and alcohol.
Steve Hoover's documentary Almost Holy follows a pastor named Gennadiy
Mokhnenko, who saves street kids, at times by forcible abduction, and brings
them to his Pilgrim Republic rehabilitation center.
The film's depiction of a
country in the grip of poverty, addiction, and warfare is made even more powerful
by its captivating electronic score by award-winning composer Atticus Ross,
his brother Leopold Ross, and Bobby Krlic (The Haxan Cloak).
"Occasionally a project comes along where one feels compelled to contribute,"
Atticus said of seeing the early footage that convinced him to work on the film.
"It's a different world over there - of course we have dire poverty in the U.S. - but
to see an army of drug-addicted children living in those conditions, children the
same age as my own, under ten years old but covered in track marks and sleeping
on sewers to stay warm, and someone is asking you to write a little music to help
the cause. It would be hard to find a reason not to."
His collaborators felt the same way, and the trio soon began work on the score
- the Ross brothers in the U.S. and Krlic in the U.K. The distance meant the composers
initially worked separately, but in the end, the soundtrack feels remarkably
The message and content of film kept the trio inspired, and once Krlic had
emigrated to the U.S., they met at Atticus' studio and continued to work on the
album as a free-standing piece. The film remained the anchor and the catalyst for
their creativity, but several of the tracks on the record don't appear in the picture
at all. Almost Holy is thus not simply a soundtrack album, but a soundtrack and
an album, one that both enriches its film and stands apart from it.1. One Block Further

Lady In Gold (Bone Vinyl)Limited Edition Of 500 Copies Pressed On Bone Colored Vinyl
Very few modern bands are lucky enough to have such a unique, individual and inimitable style as well as blessed with such an incredible voice at the forefront, so it's very rare that a group representing traditional blues-rock can come along with all these characteristics and whip up such excitement in 2016.
BLUES PILLS contain all these elements to create extraordinary music that sounds original and new but respects those long-held rules of blues and rock and roll tradition. Although, it's the individual characteristics of the band that makes this music electrifying; the steady bass of Zack Anderson, thumping rhythm of AndrÉ Kvarnström, technical and yet improvisational guitar of Dorian Sorriaux and the sensational soaring vocals of frontwoman Elin Larsson that set this band apart.
The psychedelic sounds of the band may hail back to the prosperity of the 1960's and 1970's and it's true their distinctive sound may include a few ingredients of the past; a pinch of late 60's Americana, a sprinkling of blues, a heavy serving of rock 'n' roll, a big squeeze of soul but it's all shaken up into a brand-new cocktail of sound, and served into this heavenly new blend we call BLUES PILLS.
That's why it seems to be a sign of destiny that the stars aligned for this exceptional group to be born in 2011, only one year later the striking, soulful and organic sound of first single 'Black Smoke' was fascinating countless listeners - followed up by the EP "Bliss". When in 2014 the self-titled album was released, the whole genre was turned upside down and BLUES PILLS were charting across Europe and continually selling out larger venues. Now the fans are calling on BLUES PILLS to present their second album "Lady In Gold".
"'Lady Gold' is a character symbolizing death", explains singer Elin Larsson of the intriguing album title. "We wanted to get away from the typical stereotype of the Grim Reaper."
The mystical and dark references of the album title are echoed throughout a lot of the album - there's the ode to the female "Keeper Of The Soul" on spiritual sounding title track 'Lady In Gold' and talks of failed salvation from a deceitful messiah in the soul anthem 'Little Boy Preacher'. There's emotive blues ballads in 'I've Felt A Change' and 'Burned Out' and empowering post-heartbreak tales in 'Won't Go Back' and 'Rejection'.
Similarly to the self-titled debut "Lady In Gold" was produced in Sweden by producer Don Alsterberg and it captures everything that's made them one of the most talked about rock bands of the past few years.1. Lady In Gold

Extraordinary Sound Transports Listeners To A Small Coffeehouse: You Need To Hear This On Vinyl!
Peyroux's Half The Perfect World And Careless Love Also Available On Mofi 180-gram LP
Having proven several times over that shes among the premier vocal jazz singers on the planet with Half the Perfect World and Careless Loveboth available as limited-edition 180-gram LPs from Mobile FidelityMadeleine Peyroux makes her mark as a songwriter on the exquisite Bare Bones, her first album of originals. A thematic record that begins with wariness, moves to loss, builds to acceptance, and finishes with hope, the critically acclaimed set is Peyrouxs most soul-baring effort.
The records title says it all. Deeply personal and eminently mature, the chanteuse strips everything down, from her emotional guard to the arrangements. Peyroux penned many of the songs with longtime producer Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell), and also co-wrote the standout You Cant Do Me with Steely Dan legend Walter Becker. As expected, a tart wittiness defines the lyrics, demonstrating Peyrouxs continual growth as an artist. Becker's contributions also spice the title track, while noted tunesmiths Joe Henry and Julian Coryell assist on other songs. As usual, the singer enjoys the sparse, elegant backing of a small group of first-rate musicians. Peyrouxs alto vocals shine.
The empress of the jazzy, languid groove does what she has done on her two bestsellers (and her half-forgotten 1996 debut); purr intimately about life and the iniquities of love over retro backings of brushed drums and polite piano that evoke Billie Holiday. Neil Spencer, The Observer, March 2009
Sonically, Bare Bones continues Peyrouxs tradition of making some of the best-sounding albums around. Her tunesdirect, emotional, beautiful, detailedbenefit from production that emphasizes her strengths and puts a spotlight on the songs, not on any unnecessary tricks or embellishments. This is strictly about the music, its emotional effects on the listener, and the universal healing power of feelings associated with lost love and recovery.
Its hard to imagine a candlelit cocktail bar that wouldnt benefit from playing Madeleine Peyrouxs fourth album, Bare Bones. The ear loves to catch on the inflections of her supple alto, the clear picking on her acoustic guitar, the pacing as slow as a hand-stitched dress. Margaret Wappler, Los Angeles Times, March 2009
Half-speed mastered from the original analog tapes, Mobile Fidelitys 180-gram 2-LP set enhances the experiences of hearing Peyrouxs languorous gems. Transparent, airy, three dimensional, fully textured, and featuring extended response from the acoustic bass and guitars, this analog pressing puts you in the middle of a coffeehouse, with Peyroux and her small ensemble seated a few feet in front of you. Its that good.
Mobile Fidelitys collector's vinyl editions of Peyrouxs earlier hit studio albums have sold quickly. Dont wait on this.

VThe emergence of Swedish duo JJ in March 2009 was both meaningful and mysterious. A debut single, 'jj no.1', enchanted the music press, simultaneously existing across indie-pop and hip-hop spectrums, excitingly new and yet frustratingly vague in its presentation. This was a taste, a scent, something intangible, an impression made without force. The music was here, but little else - its makers remained anonymous. Pitchfork's Best New Music review for the band's debut album, summer 2009's 'jj no.2', spoke first of their enigmatic qualities, rather than precisely what this music was: another sumptuous menagerie of styles, blended by an expert hand, intoxicating and otherworldly. Both Elin Kastlander and Joakim Benon appeared in the Marcus Söderlund-directed video to 'Let Go'. Cover, broken.
We didn't mean to be anonymous, to begin with, says Kastlander. We just knew we needed to put our music out.
I'd say we've been working on this album our whole lives, says Benon of 'V', the band's third long-player. It's the thing I've always wanted to do. I feel that we've been working on this album ever since we began to record music. We have never really had any other plan than to make this V shit happen and at the same time we never knew what it was - the story presented itself to us - and it's a story that's always been clear. It's only grown in its own way. And now we're finished, we look at it and back at it, and can begin to realize what it really is, what we have done, because it's something you don't necessarily decide for yourself, even though you've made it. And the songs... we don't write them, we just do our best to catch them forever, for real. JJ have, with new album 'V', realised the definitive expression of their experiences to date, and are finally comfortable with being a press-welcoming, tour-ready outfit.
As Benon explains, everything the pair has produced in the past has been part of this journey, to a zenith that they always sought to reach. But just as 'My Boyz' exists exclusively in and of itself, so too does the new album's material, always envisioned as a whole, separate from other projects despite carrying over select DNA from its pop progenitors.
Tracks like the gorgeously understated 'Be Here Now' and subtle strings of 'When I Need You' float into clarity, coming together from vaporous beginnings. The latter number is one of several on 'V' that showcase how Kastlander has grown as a vocalist. Hers is no indiscernible mumble, no vulnerable presence set to music that fizzes like a beachside cocktail on 'Fågelsången' and soars on digital wings on 'All White Everything'; rather, it's a mix-spearing confirmation that, whatever the bruised heart or open sexuality behind the lyrics, she's intent on connecting without compromise. Words are crisp, intonation perfect. There's still a hard thud on occasion, too: 'Hold Me' opens with lean-flavoured raps, before twisting into a stained-glass confessional of absolute gravity, and 'All Ways, Always' packs substantial swagger beside its rock riffs.
We do it now, sings Kastlander on 'I'. And now really is the time for JJ, as acknowledged by Benon. At last I have music that I really want to listen to, that I want to hear from a stage. In a way, we've made this music quite selfishly, to appeal primarily to ourselves and I really haven't felt this way about our material before. This is the moment. It's for real now.
And why do anything to restrict the sharing of that joy? Evidently at the top of their game in 2014, JJ are ready to, in Benon's words, communicate with the world, quite unlike they've ever done so before. They're embracing, not retreating. Besides, mysteries are more frustrating than fascinating without resolution.1. V

A Light That Never DiesOn his second album A Light That Never Dies which will be released in North America via Forty Below Records, KaiL Baxley has returned with a hard hitting, lush and beautifully haunting collection of songs. Co-produced with Producer/Engineer Eric Corne whose recording credits include Lucinda Williams, Glen Campbell, Kim Deal and John Mayall, the album was recorded over the last year in three different cities.
"We used a lot of really old gear on this one to capture that warm analog sound and preserve its truth," says KaiL about the album. "I'm proud of what Eric and I got out of the studio and I'm eager to get out on the road and share it with people."
Hailing from the small backwater town of Willison-Elko - a town so small that most people in South Carolina don't even know where it is, much less the rest of the world. It's only claim to fame is soul legend James Brown, with whom Baxley shared an unlikely friendship as a child. Perhaps this was one of the leading influences in Baxley's soul-drenched music or perhaps it was the similar circumstances in which they were raised that fuels such deep emotion in an individual.
Abandoned by both his mother and father as a small child Baxley was raised by his grandfather Woody until age 12. When he passed away, KaiL bounced from one living situation to another, rarely living in one place for more than a year at a time. It was in this constant migration that he found escape in a pair of old RCA headphones.
"It wasn't all bad really," he recalls. "I got to know quite a bit of music from all different genres during that time period. I'd stay with my uncle for a while and pick up some Van Morrison; my auntie gave me the Stones;friends parents turned me on to gospel. Then I discovered hiphop and it was all over. I was hooked."
This is the very apparent source of inspiration in KaiL Baxley's genre-bending music that also blends blues, indie rock, soul, gospel, and syncopated hiphop-style beats into a most exquisite and easily drinkable cocktail of sound - a sound that he has dubbed "Soul Swagger".
KaiL's debut effort, Heatstroke/The Wind and the War, was presented as a double EP which displayed the yin and yang of his musical range. A surprise nominee for NPR's Album Of The Year, it received critical acclaim, including a debut at SXSW, where Baxley was tapped as, "One of NPR's top new artists" by All Songs Considered.
"His voice falls somewhere between Joe Cocker and Bill Withers with a husky authority. The guy is a whiz-bang folkie-turned-soul-rocker and has a voice which can make you dance or which melts butter, depending upon the tune."

Blood And Chocolate180 Gram Vinyl
Now on 180 gram vinyl and re-mastered from the original master tapes this 1986 release finds Costello at his rawest with furious rockers like "I Hope You're Happy Now" and "Tokyo Storm Warning." Even the ballad "I Want You" is menacing.
Known in his youth as the angry young man, Elvis Costello waited until 1986 to create the most vicious record of his career. Stripped to the studs and produced by Nick Lowe, Blood and Chocolate seethes with vindictiveness, spite, and rancor. The 11-track effort clatters with raw rock n' roll menace and clangs with darkly humorous intent. Venomous, acerbic, and aggressive, it values rhythm and attack over harmony and melody. A volatile rite of passage on which harsh Telecaster riffs cut like razor blades and Costello spits words as if they were Molotov cocktails tossed at enemies, this is the satisfying sound of emotional catharsis.1. Splendido Hotel (Speakers Corner)Just how much creative gunpowder had Al Di Meola ignited in his early career? First of all there was the flamenco firework in the best-seller Elegant Gypsy, and secondly his mega-successful live album resulting from a summit meeting in San Francisco with Paco de Lucia and John McLaughlin. After this great start it was no wonder that such prominent colleagues as Jan Hammer, Chick Corea, Steve Gadd, Anthony Jackson and Les Paul were eager to participate in the present album Splendido Hotel.
This great line-up of musicians produce a rich, saturated sound and create numerous 'flavours' in this cocktail of sounds, which - as a double LP - can be likened to a fantastic long drink, as it were. Di Meola's idea of fusion starts off in the opening number as a slow, sluggish oriental-like melody, which develops to take on a rock rhythm. High-speed and lovingly detailed flamenco such as is found in Splendido Sundance alternates with subtle rhythms (Two To Tango) and good-humoured lighter numbers with an electronic undertone such as Roller Jubilee and a funky version of Bert Kaempfert's Spanish Eyes. With this great mix, the musicians create a wonderful atmosphere in which every Latin aficionado will feel at home.

About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

Ray Charles & Betty CarterOne track - Baby, It's Cold Outside - will make this one easily worth the price of admission!
Whoa! Now we're getting into the big leagues. Ray Charles, cut from the original three-track tapes, pressed on 200-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings. Yowsa! And not just any Ray Charles title, mind you. Ray Charles and Betty Carter! Analogue Productions has reissued a whole lot of classics - a whole lot - but there aren't many of 'em that are a much bigger deal than this.
This is such a romantic album. Such a warm album. Such a rich album. And, ooh, the sound! Turn the lights down. Grab that special someone. Drop the needle. And as our Acoustic Sounds/Analogue Productions owner would say, If nothing happens, don't blame the record!
Originally released in 1961 on ABC-Paramount, Ray Charles and Betty Carter features startling dynamics, with Marty Paich's arrangements showcasing both punchy brass and lush strings. The showstopper, Baby, It's Cold Outside, topped the R&B charts upon its release. And jazz singer Betty Carter's vocal prowess shines on Cocktails For Two and Alone Together. Ray Charles has never sounded more romantic.
