For Turnstile, hardcore punk is a dish best served eclectic. In addition to meting out plenty of youth-crew-style beatdowns, the East Coast bruisers take bold detours into rap metal and alt-rock. Turbo-charged vocalist Brendan Yates leads the attack, swinging ruthlessly from the rabid yawp of pit-igniter "Addicted" to the furious flow that punctuates a breakdown-strewn "Can't Deny It." Giving their loyal moshers a minute to catch their breath, the band offer up "Blue by You," a slice of heartbroken garage punk that underscores Turnstile's surprising versatility.

Imagine an album that could contain tracks by Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and Elvis Costello, as well as Frank Sinatra, Cream, and Van Morrison. That's part of the lineup on this various-artists sampler of music used in the television series The Sopranos, music that dates from each of the last five decades of the 20th century, from Bo Diddley's 1950s hit ''I'm a Man'' to Eurythmics' ''I've Tried Everything'' from their 1999 reunion album, Peace. Familiar songs like Sinatra's ''It Was a Very Good Year'' are given a new flavor by being sequenced between very different yet oddly complementary songs. The most interesting moments, however, come with the less familiar material -- cast member ''Little Steven'' Van Zandt and the Disciples of Soul's ''Inside of Me,'' Elvis Costello & the Attractions' live take on ''Complicated Shadows,'' Wyclef Jean's rap over Sly & the Family Stone's ''Family Affair'' on ''Blood Is Thicker Than Water,'' which refers specifically to the mafia family story line of the show. The result sounds like an hour with the radio station of your dreams, which is what this kind of album aspires to be. ~ AllMusic Review by William Ruhlman

Limited Edition 180 Gram Audiophile Translucent Blue Vinyl

Comic actors John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd rightfully get credit for exposing many people to the music of Blues and R&B veterans. The soundtrack to their hugely successful musical comedy Blues Brothers was released on June 20, 1980 as the second album by the Blues Brothers Band, which also toured that year to promote the film.

The rollicking remake of the Spencer Davis Group's Gimme Some Lovin' was a Billboard Top 20 hit, featuring an arrangement notable for the horn section that replaces Steve Winwood's rumbling organ work. Ray Charles has a good time with Shake a Tail Feather, and he's helped out by Jake and Elwood Blues (Belushi and Aykroyd, respectively). The cover of Solomon Burke's Everybody Needs Somebody to Love is a lot of fun, thanks to the great overall rhythm and Elwood's lightning-fast stage rap, while James Brown and the Reverend James Cleveland Choir provide a blast of gospel music on Old Landmark. Aretha Franklin's Think is explosive, and Cab Calloway's Minnie the Moocher is slyly irresistible.

Son Little, the singer and songwriter born Aaron Livingston, is the easygoing musical alchemist of our time. He is a conjurer, and much like those of his heroes Stevie Wonder and Jimi Hendrix, his songs are deconstructions of the diaspora of American R&B. Deftly he weaves different eras of the sound-blues, soul, gospel, rock and roll-through his own unique vision, never forced, always smooth, each note a tributary on the flowing river of rhythm and blues. And now, with his second full-length album, New Magic, he has delivered a profound statement, a cohesive creation that captures the diverse spirit of American music in a fresh and modern way.

The song that serves as the album's true centerpiece is Blue Magic, a Philly Soul inspired number deconstructed almost like a rap song or the best of production savants like J Dilla or Madlib, complete with chiming glockenspiel bells and old school female backing vocals. The song has the appeal of an instant classic. On the heels of his 2015 self-titled debut and the 5-song EP, Songs I Forgot, that came before it, Son Little found his reach steadily growing. His song Lay Down had been streamed over seven million times, he had toured the world with artists as diverse as Leon Bridges, Kelis, Mumford & Sons, Portual. The Man and Shakey Graves in addition to his own headlining runs, and also became a Grammy Award winning producer, earning a 2016 Best Roots Performance award for his work on Mavis Staples.

Minneapolis is known for many things - pretty lakes, the Mall of America, lutefisk. But 17 years ago, hip-hop act
Atmosphere transformed the city into something else entirely: a nexus from which underground rap spiraled-out
to the masses. And thanks to the duo's indefatigable touring habits, Top 20-charting albums, and their galvanizing artist-owned label Rhymesayers (MF Doom, Aesop Rock), they're still pushing the boundaries of what indie
    rap can mean.

It's with that overachieving-underdog spirit that MC Sean "Slug" Daley and producer Anthony "Ant" Davis have
named Atmosphere's eighth studio album Southsiders (out May 6), a shout-out to their native neighborhood.
Because, says Slug, "We have spent the majority of our career - God, we can call it a career! - repping the
south side of Minneapolis pretty hard."

While Southsiders is a celebration of the group's fortitude, it is also a deeply introspective, and sometimes
conflicted, work. "It's a natural progression from the last record, The Family Sign, which was about growing my
family," says Slug, now a father to three, who finds himself contemplating mortality. "I'm starting to think, 'What is
post-family man? What am I supposed to rap about now?' I'm sticking to my roots, rapping about what I'm
doing, what I think about. This record is - much like the other ones - a very detailed look at my life."

The album captures everything from a blazing, anthemic takedown in "Southsiders," to the ebb-and-flow of loss
in the sauntering "Arthur's Song," to emotional abandon in the rousing "Kanye West." The latter - and its
mantra, "put your hands in the air like you really do care" - is a high-five to the rapper whose emotional
reactions are often misperceived as not caring. Says Slug, "I wanted to write a song about loving something so
much that you submit to the moment.

threats, producing for Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Nas and many more. Alchemist is also an
accomplished rapper and Eminem's touring DJ. While they were building their respective
careers, Evidence and Alchemist had worked together regularly collaborating on Dilated Peoples

Red vinyl version w/ bonus tracks not found on original vinyl pressing

Jedi Mind Tricks is currently one of the hottest underground hip-hop groups in the United States. Their sophomore album, Violent By Design, has sold over 85,000 copies and is regarded by many as one of the best independent hip-hop albums ever recorded.

Babygrande Records is proud to present The Psycho-Social... LP which is the cult classic prequel to Violent by Design. Described by the Source Magazine as ahead of its time and by CMJ as A must own for anyone who cares about hip-hop culture, The Psycho-Social was originally released only in limited pressings on vinyl 1997. The vinyl edition sells frequently on Ebay for upwards of $100. That is until now...

In 2002, prior to obtaining national distribution, Babygrande released the CD version to independent retailers nationwide and scanned over 40,000 copies. Now, Babygrande has opened its vaults to re-release the the vinyl edition of The Psycho-Social in its entirety on limited edition red vinyl. Thanks to digital remastering, listeners can obtain the album Jedi Mind Tricks originally released in 1997, exactly as the artist intended.

    Run The Jewels

    Gold Yellow Colored Vinyl

This gold vinyl re-issue of Run the Jewels's 2013 self-titled classic was named Pitchfork's "Best New Music" upon release. Killer Mike's baritone drawl contrasts El-P's hyper flow perfectly, and with support from names like Big Boi, Until the Ribbon Breaks, and Prince Paul, this hip-hop album delivers. Tracks feature Banana Clipper, Job Well Done, and Twin Hype Back.

Metacritic gives this album universal acclaim, and critics agree: it's accessible with its duo taking on crooked politicians, fake rappers and religious hypocrites through aggressive flow and paranoid rhyme, and its fun, affable vibe is no sign of weakness.

For the true collector of album kitsch, this release includes a new iron-on Run the Jewels patch.

Includes Original Artwork/Illustrations By Brilliant Visual Artist Aaron Horkey

As Rhymesayers was transitioning from a local Twin Cities crew, who were known for
explosive and engaging live shows at coffee shops, raves, and venues around town, into
a full-fledged independent label, some of the most integral players in the crew decided to
form a supergroup, and thus began the legend of The Dynospectrum.

The group's formula was largely centered on the four MCs, Slug of Atmosphere, I Self
Devine of The Micranots, Beyond (better known as Musab), and Mr. Gene Poole of Phull
Surkle. Each of them had already made a notable impression on the Twin Cities scene,
so the idea of them coming together was easy to view as a force to be reckoned with.
However, an essential element of The Dynospectrum was its production, as Ant (of
Atmosphere) was digging deep into his explorations of painting sound with dark and
moody strokes. Yet another signature aspect to this album was its iconic artwork,
provided courtesy of the Headshots resident artist, Aaron "Abuse" Horkey, who has also
provided some new work for this special vinyl edition. Horkey's uniquely exquisite graffiti
stylings give the album a comic book-like essence while maintaining an air of elegance
and fine art. Lastly, in order to take all this creative energy and shape it into something
real, label CEO, Siddiq Sayers, acted as the sound engineer at the time for the newly
formed Rhymesayers studios, and took the lead on distribution and management for the
    project.

All of this resulted in The Dynospectrum being a landmark release in the Rhymesayers
catalog, regarded to this day as a cult classic, which makes it long overdue that we finally
get to see this full release available on vinyl for the very first time. This upcoming special
vinyl edition, just like our recent Overcast! 20th Anniversary vinyl release, has been
completely re-mixed from the original reel-to-reel tapes and remastered, complete with
bonus unreleased material from those same recording sessions. All the original music
and lyrics have been left completely intact, only enhancing the listening experience, so
that this breakthrough album sounds better than ever!
