'Continuum' is the 3RD studio album by John Mayer, released September 9, 2006 on Columbia Records. Recording sessions for the album took place during November 2005 to September 2006 at The Village Recorder in Los Angeles, California, Avatar Studios and Right Track/Sound on Sound in New York City, and Royal Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. Production was handled primarily by Mayer and Steve Jordan.
This album marked a change in Mayer's musical style and incorporated musical elements of blues and soul more heavily than in his previous work with pop-rock.

The album debuted at number 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. It also reached the top-ten in several other countries and sold over 3 million copies worldwide.

The album contains the worldwide hits 'Waiting On The World To Change' and 'Gravity'. On this 180 grams vinyl release we presents the album with a bonustrack ´Say´, which is now available on vinyl for the first time!

Sit back and enjoy the soothing sounds of guitar-hero/prettyboy Mayer!

    Continuum (White Cover)

Continuum is about as apt a title as it gets for John Mayer's third studio disc. Every element, from the peerless guitar playing to the plainspoken poetry of the lyrics to the breathy-sincere singing, makes a return from previous efforts. But to weakly pronounce this another worthwhile effort from an artist the world has come to expect a whole lot from and then call it a day would be no minor misdeed, because it's also the best, boldest disc he's ever made. Taking maturity as a theme throughout, Mayer tackles a batch of adulthood's bogeymen: indifference on the uptempo chart-climber 'Waiting for the World to Change,' aging on the melancholy-sweet 'Stop This Train,' and emotional trainwreckage on the big-rocking 'In Repair.' That's not to suggest he's turned overly introspective--check the Jimi Hendrix cover 'Bold As Love,' where he hits one home for guitarists who've been living in the shadow of legend everywhere, and the hard-charging 'Belief,' which benefits from a mesmerizing, liquid groove. Continuum may be the third in a series, but a creative cop-out this is not; Mayer is his generation's musical superman--powerful, unassailable, and magnetic. Hand that man a cape.

    Born And Raised

Columbia Records is pleased to announce the release of Born and Raised, the fifth full-length album from Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician John Mayer. Mayer produced the 12-song set with the much in demand Don Was, who's worked on albums for acts such as the Rolling Stones, B.B. King and Bonnie Raitt among others.

Rock legends David Crosby and Graham Nash provide vocals on the album's title song. Additional musicians joining Mayer on the album and on the road include highly-regarded keyboardist/pianist Chuck Leavell, who has worked with the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and The Allman Brothers Band, as well as previous collaborators Sean Hurley on bass and Aaron Sterling on drums. Jim Keltner makes a special appearance on drums on Something Like Olivia. Born And Raised will be preceded by the country-tinged lead single Shadow Days.

Mayer's previous albums Room for Squares (2001), Heavier Things (2003), Continuum (2006) and Battle Studies (2009) have sold more than 12 million copies combined. He has been honored with seven Grammy Awards and an additional 11 nominations. He has also been included in Time Magazine's annual 'Time 100' list of the most influential contemporary thinkers, leaders, artists and entertainers, and twice been featured on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine's annual 'Guitar' issue.

    How We Lost

How We Lost is actually a celebratory album. It's a reflective record and, in its own way, celebrates the Windsor For The Derby continuum that's been culled from their first release, Calm Hades Float in 1996 to their last, Giving Up the Ghost from 2005. Each of these recordings is a sequel to the next both musically and in narrative, especially since the band found themselves in constant dialogue about their body of work and the paths they'
d chosen due to the rerelease of their first two records Calm Hades Float and Minnie Greutzfeldt. Also a part of that ongoing dialogue were the records that the band found itself consistently re-visiting, Swell Maps, Section 25, Psychic TV and what it was that made those recordings timeless and resonate in a personal way to the band. The songs on How We Lost is about the ways they've changed over the years, the things they hold onto and what's been left behind.

    Endless

Italian trio Soviet Soviet take a broad view of the post-punk genre, ignoring timestamps and geographic restrictions to assemble a specimen uniquely theirs. Endless, Soviet Soviet's proper sophomore album, is the result of a very long, well thought out process marked by experimentation and innovation yet still tied to their instinctive style of interpreting and performing music. The band explains, It started to take shape during soundchecks while on tour, as well as last year when we took a break from touring. It is certainly a continuum of Fate, which we could consider a starting point since every journey calls for us to identify a point from which to start or start over again. That is exactly what we are looking at. Endless is an intense story, one that is marked by purity and which talks of the past. It is an introspective, personal learning experience - a moment of reflection as well as a metamorphosis and ta new beginning in life. It's a tunnel - an experience through which to improve yourself and your surroundings. In many aspects, it's more complex than their previous work in terms of how the songs are arranged.

    II

Moderat is a collaborative group comprised of artists Apparat and Modeselektor.II is their second album release, debut album was released in 2009.

Apparat and Modeselektor are both well known and highly respected in their own right. Modeselektor - Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary - are bass music heroes. Together with a veritable army of collaborators, guest artists and with their two labels Monkeytown and 50 Weapons, they have built a broad network. They assimilate and process the tiniest vibrations in the global bass continuum and at the same time, their wobbly salvos and their oblique sense of humour are unmistakable. They became known to a select audience through their records on BPitch Control with which they catapulted themselves out of the Berlin 4/4 cosmos, whilst simultaneously reflecting the raw and full-on spirit of the 1990s Berlin club scene.

Apparat (real name: Sascha Ring) could hardly be more opposite. He fuses tricky electronics with heartfelt and auspicious pop. Together with
T.Raumschmiere, he founded Shitkatapult. From early on, Apparat realised that the LP was his preferred form of expression. With each album, he reinvented himself on a personal, stylistic and social level: gradually bringing ever more strata of his emotional persona to light, exploring previously unknown musical styles and involving guest musicians in the process.

The secret of Modeselektor's and Apparat's collaboration lies in the fact that they never even tried to get close to one another. Modeselektor's thundering bass rumbles in the cellar, Apparat's sensitive and subtle melodies float high in the eaves. The fact that what one assumes to be incompatible actually communicates, is what makes Moderat so unique. Moderat is not just a studio project: they've toured all five continents.

    So It Is

Preservation Hall Jazz Band have announced the release of their new album, So It Is, the septet's second release featuring all-new original music, releasing via Legacy Recordings. So It Is finds the classic PHJB sound invigorated by a number of fresh influences, not least among them the band's 2015 life-changing trip to Cuba.

In Cuba, all of a sudden we were face to face with our musical counterparts, says bandleader/composer/bassist Ben Jaffe. There's been a connection between Cuba and New Orleans since day one - we're family. A gigantic light bulb went off and we realized that New Orleans music is not just a thing by itself; it's part of something much bigger. It was almost like having a religious epiphany.

Producer David Sitek, a founder of art rock innovators TV on the Radio who has helmed projects by Kelis, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Santigold among others, offered both a keen modern perspective and a profound respect for the band's storied history. Upon arriving in New Orleans to meet with the band, Sitek recalls he and Jaffe accidentally stumbling into one of the city's famed second-line parades. I was struck by the visceral energy of the live music all around, this spontaneous joy, everything so immediate, he says. I knew I had to make sure that feeling came out of the studio. It needed to be alive. It needed to sound dangerous.

The music on So It Is, penned largely by Jaffe and 84 year-old saxophonist Charlie Gabriel in collaboration with the entire PHJB, stirs together that variety of influences like classic New Orleans cuisine. Longtime members Jaffe, Gabriel, Clint Maedgen and Ronell Johnson have been joined over the past 18 months by Walter Harris, Branden Lewis and Kyle Roussel, and the new blood has hastened the journey into new musical territory. Inspired by that journey and reinvigorated by the post-Katrina rebuilding of their beloved home city, PHJB are redefining what New Orleans music means in 2017 by tapping into a sonic continuum that stretches back to the city's Afro-Cuban roots, through its common ancestry with the Afrobeat of Fela Kuti and the Fire Music of Pharoah Sanders and John Coltrane, and forward to cutting-edge artists with whom the PHJB have shared festival stages from Coachella to Newport, including legends like Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello and the Grateful Dead and modern giants like My Morning Jacket, Arcade Fire and the Black Keys.

    Third Dimension (Pure Pleasure)

Arguably one of the most exciting saxophone soloists in jazz history, Kirk was a post-modernist before that term even existed. Kirk played the continuum of jazz tradition as an instrument unto itself; he felt little compunction about mixing and matching elements from the music's history, and his concoctions usually seemed natural, if not inevitable.

Third Dimension was the debut album by jazz multi-instrumentalist Roland Kirk originally released as Triple Threat on the King label in 1956. The original album received limited distribution and only became widely known after it was rereleased a few years prior to Kirk's death. The album features the first recorded examples of Kirk's trademark playing of multiple wind instruments at the same time as well as two tracks (Stormy Weather and The Nearness Of You) where he overdubbed manzello and tenor saxophone. Kirk would later state that the album »was about the third overdub record in black classical music.

    • Carl Pruitt (bass)

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    Violent Hearts

Shimmering Stars is a three-piece dream pop act from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Their music embodies an attempt at drawing out and illuminating the subtle darkness inherent in the seemingly wholesome, innocent music of the 1950s and '60s. The result filters older influences like the Everly Brothers, Del Shannon, Phil Spector and Bo Diddley through a contemporary indie lens. Songs about being in love, not being in love, the painfully modern condition of floating in a state of suspended adolescence, all tinted with the slight self-deprication of knowing how trite it is to be writing songs about these things at all.

Shimmering Stars create reverb-soaked pop songs, full of arching harmonies, pulsing rhythms, and exquisite melodies, often with dark undertones, all while adhering to the timeless structural qualities of the seminal songs that inspired them. The songs are haunting and sublime, at times blissful, and at others heart breaking.

The band began as a recording project in the Spring of 2010. After stumbling upon some old live footage of the Everly Brothers, Rory McClure holed up in his parents garage in Kamloops, British Columbia to record the first demos. That first recording environment rendered Shimmering Stars distinctly dusty atmospheric sound and established a conscious insertion into the garage music continuum. Violent Hearts is the debut LP from Shimmering Stars, released by Hardly Art and Almost Musique.

The Chase Is On (Pure Pleasure)

The twin tenor sax tradition yielded grand pairings with the likes of Wardell Gray and Dexter Gordon, Arnett Cobb and Eddie 'Lockjaw' Davis, Gene Ammons and Sonny Stitt, and Al Cohn and Zoot Sims. This one-shot teaming of Charlie Rouse and Paul Quinichette brought forth a union of two distinctly different mannerisms within the mainstream jazz continuum. Rouse, who would go on to prolific work with Thelonious Monk and was at this time working with French horn icon Julius Watkins, developed a fluid signature sound that came out of the more strident and chatty style heard here. By this time in 1957, Quinichette, nicknamed the Vice Prez for his similar approach to Lester Young, was well established in the short term with Count Basie. His liquid, full-bodied, soulful tone became an undeniable force, albeit briefly, before he dropped out of the scene shortly after this date to be an electrical engineer. The stereo split of the saxophonists in opposite channels, a technique endemic of the time, works well whether they play solos or melody lines together. It enables you to truly hear how different they are. Working with standards, there's a tendency for them to play the head arrangements in unison, but then one of them on occasion plays an off-the-cuff short phrase that strays from the established melodic path. They also seem to do a hard bop jam, then a ballad, and back to hard swinging.

The title track is simply a killer, a perfect fun romp of battling duelists, and one that you'd like to hear in any nightclub setting. Some slight harmonic inserts set This Can't Be Love apart from the original and The Things I Love displays the two tenors at their conversational best, while the lone original, Knittin', is a fundamental 12-bar swing blues, straight up and simple but with some subtle harmonic nuances. The rhythm section of pianist Wynton Kelly, bass player Wendell Marshall, and drummer Ed Thigpen do their usual yeoman job. But on two tracks, pianist Hank Jones and rhythm guitarist Freddie Green take over, and the sound of the band changes dramatically to the more sensitive side on a low-down version of When The Blues Come On and the good-old basic vintage swinger You're Cheating Yourself. The combination of Rouse and Quinichette was a very satisfactory coupling of two talented and promising post-swing to bop individualists, who played to all of their strengths and differences on this worthy -- and now legendary -- session.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

bermuda waterfall= invisible action, unconscious fertilization,
    the subconscious master plan continuum

Much of the words to Bermuda (which i feel are the center piece) were written
whilest travelling between one place i loved and another place/people i loved, and
trying to describe my most potent dreams related to my most potent life experiences.
there was a feeling of disappointment in communication with the people that i'm
calling out to connect with through my performances and travels in the last year, a
    feeling of loneliness.

I had to have faith with the meanings of the poetry because more then ever it was
lifted from my life often without being understood, only knowing that they were
events, truths i admired, truthfully complex as anything so haunting can be
interpreted in so many ways, like any dream funny or sexual, or horrifying. not so
much knowing the reasons, but just the experiences as mysterious as they are to me.
i promise that i was as straight forward with the words as possible in describing
    these nuances.

Full of yin and yang, and just sitting back and taking a look at my life, something i'm
happy with, and came naturally in the words of which i intended for the first time
nothing. i'll have to wait a few years before i understand exactly whats going on in
the record, in this time in my life, and i'm alright with that, cos i'm into mystery.
