Twitty began with rock 'n' roll and ended up with a heap of country smashes. Ditto this disc; his pop #1 It's Only Make Believe leads to his country #1s Hello Darlin'; You've Never Been This Far Before; Happy Birthday Darlin'; Touch the Hand; After the Fire Is Gone (with Loretta Lynn), and more!1. FallenFallen is the debut studio album by American rock band Evanescence. After releasing several EPs and a demo CD, the group signed to Wind-Up in January 2001. Writing songs for Fallen started near the time of the band's formation; several of the songs that would feature on the album appeared on the band's earlier releases. Fallen was recorded between August and December 2002 in several locations, including Conway Recording Studios in Hollywood, California. This was followed by a two-week period of mixing at Conway Recording Studios in North Hollywood.
Fallen was originally released on March 4, 2003, on Wind-up and Epic Records. Fallen is Evanescence's most commercially successful album to date, selling more than seven million copies in the United States and over 17 million copies worldwide. It debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 after selling more than 141,000 copies during its first week and peaked at number three in June 2003. Fallen topped the charts in more than ten countries. The album was certified seven times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and was certified abroad.1. Going Under

Cure For PainLow-rock was one way enigmatic Morphine frontman Mark Sandman used to describe his bands beat-inspired blues-jazz-rock holy racket. Along with Sandmans baritone vocal delivery and laconic two-string bass styling, co-founder Dana Colley played a saxophone as his lead instrument of choice instead of the expected guitar, creating a quirky and burning sensibility. Original drummer Jerome Deupree, who was replaced by percussionist Billy Conway during the recording of 1993s Cure For Pain, flushed out the unorthodox trio.
Released on vinyl as the second title on Light In The Attics Modern Classics Recordings imprint. Featuring the essential songs Buena, Sheila, Candy, and the moving title-track Cure For Pain, this is the albums first-ever U.S. vinyl issue. Modern Classics Cure For Pain features lovingly re-mastered audio, 180g wax, and deluxe tip-on gatefold jacket with original album art.1. Dawna

Project 1950 (Awaiting Repress)Patriotism may be the last refuge of scoundrels, but nostalgia traditionally puts bread on the table for succeeding generations of rock musicians long after the hits stop coming. If 25th anniversary celebrations--the excuse for this Misfits roots covers collection--seem the very antithesis of punk, they're but another golden marketing opportunity for Jerry Only, the sole original band member still standing and arguably the Energizer Bunny of ghoul-punk. Teamed here with Marky Ramone and ex-Black Flag guitarist Dez Cadena, Only turns his band's beloved PG-13 thrash-horror shtick loose on an oddball collection of his '50s and '60s musical inspirations. And just when you thought irony was passÉ, Only croon-howls it undead with fervent renditions of This Magic Moment by Jay & the Americans, Paul Anka's frothy Diana, and Conway Twitty's Only Make Believe.1. Ideas of Distance (Discontinued)Young Man is the brainchild of one Colin Caulfield, conceived as a concept project about the passing of time, love and loss. Caulfield explored this concept while studying abroad in France and this international experience helped formulate his first recordings. Released in late 2010 to great acclaim, his first EP, Boy, is a psych-infused collection of songs with a tone setting tenderness that featured some of the most hopeful/haunting choruses heard that year.
The EP set the stage for Caulfield to tackle his most ambitious project yet which is releasing 3 full lengths in the next 2 years. The first of these records, Ideas of Distance captures this. Laid out over 8 songs and recorded/produced by Caulfield himself, Ideas of Distance is an emotional roller coaster that takes the listener on quite a ride throughout its stark 40 minutes. The dark beauty can be seen in the constant building of first single Nothing while the ever changing moods are never more present than on the epic album closer Felt which leaves the listener with a sense of ending while moving onto the next record.
The next record in the cycle is already being recorded with an impressive young band that includes Dylan Andrews (drums), Emmett Conway (guitar/vocals) and Joe Bailey (bass) which has backed Caulfied through several festivals and appearances including those with Local Natives, Yuck, The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Cults and The Antlers.1. Continued is the second album released by swamprocker Tony Joe White. Recorded at Monument Studios, Nashville and Lyn-Lou Studios, Memphis in 1969 and released the same year, the album contained the single Roosevelt And Ira Lee. It was produced by Billy Swan and engineered by Tommy Strong and Mort Thomasson.
The album contains the track Rainy Night In Georgia popularized by R&B vocalist Brook Benton in 1970. It reached #4 on the Pop Singles and #2 on the Adult Contemporary charts, respectively. The RIAA certified the single Gold for sales of one million copies. In 2004, it was ranked #498 on the List of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. David Ruffin recorded a cover version of the song the same year as Benton, however, Motown for unknown reasons did not release the album.
The song has been covered by a number of musicians, including Ray Charles, Otis Rush, Randy Crawford, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Amos Garrett, Hank Williams, Jr., Shelby Lynne, John Holt, Nicky Thomas, by the duet of Conway Twitty and Sam Moore, Aaron Neville, and reggae band The Gladiators.1. Loaded: Best of Blake SheltonLoaded: The Best of Blake Shelton, is a solid collection of the country singer's singles, hits, and favorites from his five studio full-lengths, and the two six-track EPs he released in the latter year. Fifteen tracks deep, it begins with the two cuts that put him on contemporary country's radar -- Ol Red and Austin -- from his self-titled debut album in 2001.
The Dreamer, from 2003, is represented by the its two best cuts, The Baby, and the classic Playboys of the Southwestern World. There are three from 2004's Blake Shelton's Bar & Grill, including Shawn Camp's stellar Nobody But Me, and Shelton's reading of the Conway Twitty smash Goodbye Time. Pure BS, from 2007, is showcased by a pair of numbers, including The More I Drink and a third, Home, comes from the deluxe edition of album.
There's a solid version of She Wouldn't Be Gone from 2008's Startin' Fires to round things out. The first 11 tracks were a given, and Shelton's annotations in the booklet make a solid case for their inclusion. That said, Shelton also tacks on the title track from the Hillbilly Bone, Six Pack, as well as Kiss My Country Ass from the same set.
Further, Who Are You When I'm Not Looking and the title track from the second EP are here. All four of these songs were released earlier in the calendar year, making their appearances seem redundant at best and, frankly, like a cynical money grab at worst. Oftentimes, less really is more.LP 1

The Black Sabbath CoversWhen Jason Molina took on another artist's song, he willed his own universe into it, his own
personal and artistic mythology. Be it Conway Twitty or Townes Van Zandt, their blues were
infused with Molina's own entrancing blues. This pair of newly discovered, home-recorded
Black Sabbath covers is no different. Molina, a through-and-through fan of metal (seek out his
high school metal band the Spineriders' album if you haven't yet) peels back the sinister and
stoned elements of Sabbath, zeroing in on the loneliness and brooding.
He takes "Solitude,"
from 1971's unfuckwithable Master of Reality - and one of Sabbath's more mystical, near-proggy
songs - and doubles down on the title. Molina extracts Ozzy Osbourne's gorgeously
cooed vocal performance and transforms it into a high and lonesome sound, a desert campfire
howler. And on his cover of "Snowblind, from 1972's Vol. 4, it becomes obvious what a guitar
hero Sabbath's Tony Iommi was for Molina. Molina seemed to pull from Iommi's odd, simple
fingerings and tunings throughout his catalogue: from his first album (known informally as "the
black album") to Magnolia Electric Co.'s Josephine. Molina's brief acoustic cover dials back the
bombast, but you can surely connect "Snowblind"'s chord progressions with Molina's own on
the black album and Axxess & Ace.
Recorded in the midwest in the late '90s, during Molina's
multi-season run of batting 1.000, these two intimate songs are a bittersweet artifact of one of
the Rust Belt's titan songwriters.
Note: Do not attempt to play Side B of this 7" release. Side B is a gorgeous etching of a
black ram by artist Will Schaff. If you do attempt to play the etching on Side B it will sound
absolutely awful.1. Solitude

DetourCyndi Lauper's celebrated musical journey takes an unexpected southern turn on DETOUR, her 11th studio album, which finds the Grammy®, Emmy® and Tony®-winning singer-songwriter putting her signature spin on a dozen classic country songs.
DETOUR showcases Lauper's unmistakable voice on country classics from the '40s, '50s and '60s and features guest appearances from county music stars Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, and Willie Nelson. Lauper recorded the album in Nashville alongside a band comprised of the city's top session players.
The album is Lauper's first for Sire Records (Rhino) and is executive produced by legendary Sire founder, Seymour Stein.
Lauper says recording a country album is something she's dreamed about for many years. Growing up, she recalls listening to singers like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Wanda Jackson in her Aunt Gracie's kitchen. When I was a really young kid, country music was pop music, so this is what we grew up listening to. These songs are part of some of my earliest memories so it has been an absolute thrill to revisit them.
Lauper sounds right at home from the start, beginning with the album opener, Funnel Of Love, a track Wanda Jackson, the Queen of Rockabilly, recorded in 1960. Another highlight is the rollicking take on Heartaches By The Number, a country standard previously covered by everyone from George Jones to Waylon Jennings to Dwight Yoakum. DETOUR also features stunning covers of two classic Pasty Cline songs, Walkin' After Midnight and her #1 smash, I Fall To Pieces. Lauper says, I spent a lot of time in my room singing with Patsy. I had to sing a Patsy Cline song - or two - because her voice was like one of my girlfriends. That's how close I felt to her.
For the album, Lauper duets with several special guests, including country music royalty: Emmylou Harris (on the title track), Willie Nelson (Night Life, a song he wrote over 50 years ago), Vince Gill (Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty's You're The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly) and Alison Krauss (Dolly Parton's Hard Candy Christmas. Jewel also makes an appearance on DETOUR, showcasing her prodigious yodeling skills on I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart, which was the first country song by a woman to sell one million copies.1. The Iron Man: The Musical by Pete Townshend, originally released in 1989, is an adaptation of Ted Hughes' story The Iron Man, produced and largely composed and performed by Pete Townshend of The Who. It also stars Roger Daltrey, Deborah Conway, John Lee Hooker, and Nina Simone.
The three then-surviving members of The Who (Daltrey, John Entwistle, and Townshend) performed as a group in two songs, Dig and Fire, although the latter was not penned by Townshend. (The Who would later perform Dig live during their 1989 reunion tour.)
A Friend is a Friend and I Won't Run Anymore were released as singles; Fire was also issued as a promo-only in the United States.
A stage version was mounted at the Young Vic theatre in London in 1993. On the strength of this, Warners optioned the story for a movie which, with a very different adaptation of the story, became The Iron Giant; Townshend received an Executive Producer credit.1. I Won't Run Anymore

One of the most unique, original and unusual rock bands to burst onto the alternative scene in the 90s, Morphine was originally formed by vocalist/bassist Mark Sandman, saxophonist Dana Colley and drummer Jerome Deupree (later replaced by Billy Conway) in Cambridge, Mass in 1989. They expertly combined blues, jazz and rock elements into a very distinct style, anchored by Sandman's deep, crooning, beat-style vocals. Rather than having an electric guitar as the focal point like most rock bands, the trio's sound was built around Sandman's two-string electric bass (often deployed with a slide) and Colley's growling, baritone sax which was dubbed as "low-rock." The band enjoyed critical acclaim but saw mixed results commercially. They did enjoy higher profile success overseas, especially in Belgium, Portugal France and Australia where they were featured on music television programming frequently and filled much larger venues.
After five studio albums and extensive touring, Morphine disbanded after Mark tragically died of a heart attack performing on stage at the Giardini del Principe in Palestrina, Italy. Surviving members have soldiered on in various incarnations, the most recent being the Vapors of Morphine that will be on tour through the summer of 2017. "Yes" was the band's third studio record originally released on Rykodisc in March of 1995. It was their first album to make the Billboard Top 200 where it peaked at #101, but did not sell as well abroad as their two previous records.
Criminally out of print on wax for nine years, Run Out Groove is reissuing this classic from the 90s as a deluxe expanded 2LP edition that includes a 2nd disc of many previously unreleased outtakes, live tracks and rare B-sides making their debut on vinyl.
