One Lovely Day (On Sale)Dug deep into the rich soil of American music, Cope's roots are complex. You may think of Bill Withers or Neil Young or John Lee Hooker or Van Morrison or Willie Nelson or Al Green. Yet, listening to Cope, you also may think none of the above. You may not think at all, but rather feel a man exposing stories that haunt his heart.
He was born Clarence Greenwood, a child of the '70s, and his life journey is as singular as his art. He is the radically mashed-up product of Greenville, Mississippi; Memphis, Tennessee; Vernon, Texas; Washington, DC; and Brooklyn, New York. These locations are felt everywhere in his stories. His sounds are southern rural, big sky lonely, concrete urban, and painfully romantic. In the past nine years, he has produced four albums of depth and distinction, each a critical chapter in his search for a sound that paints an auditory American landscape in which despair wars with hope, tied to love, is elusive.
Cope's musical evolution was catch-as-catch can. Folk tales, whether through William Faulkner or Big Bill Broonzy, shaped his sensitivity. A few college courses at Texas Tech alternately bored and excited him. In Austin in the '80s, he took sound classes and found himself fooling with a primitive four-track setup. Turntables intrigued him. He heard hip hop as inspired invention. For years, he got lost in his self-designed lab, cooking up beats and motifs that only later would be shaped into songs. This, his new album, One Lovely Day is anchored by the yearning title track single which features some of his finest songwriting to date.1. One Lovely Day

CopeManchester Orchestra is an American indie rock band from Atlanta, GA, formed in 2004. The group has released serveral EPs and three studio albums:
'I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child' (2006), 'Mean Everything to Nothing' (2009) and 'Simple Match' (2011).
Cope, to me, means getting by. It means letting go, and being OK with being OK, says Manchester Orchestra's Andy Hull. The Atlanta band found itself
at a crossroads as they approached making their fourth studio album -- in between labels, uncertain of Manchester Orchestra's future for the first time
since Hull started the band almost a decade ago. He was barely finished with high school back then, and now Hull and his bandmates were transitioning
into the adult reality that shit happens. They'd learned a bit about letting go themselves.
So Manchester Orchestra regrouped. They built a studio with their own hands, and spent month after month workshopping new tunes, writing and
demoing together in a room -- a process that was completely new for them. The change did them good.
For their previous LP, 2011's 'Simple Math', experimentation had been the goal. Hull conceived an epic, memoiristic concept album that featured
elaborate arrangements including a string section and children's choir. Their highest charting album to date, 'Simple Math' also earned widespread critical
acclaim, with American Songwriter noting They've perfected the balance of gorgeous songwriting and rabid musicianship, so we can't wait to see what
they do next.
For each of their first three albums, Manchester Orchestra had worked with producers Dan Hannon and Joe Chicarelli in established studios in Nashville
and Atlanta. But they wanted to try something different this time. The band bought a house in Atlanta where some of them had previously lived as
roomates, and spent money they'd saved to gut, renovate and soundproof the whole building, turning it into the studio where they would record COPE.
They eventually did hire John Agnello (Dinosaur, Jr., Kurt Vile, Sonic Youth) to mix COPE.1. Top Notch

Death PenaltyWitchfinder General are a doom metal band from Stourbridge, England. They were part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene and have been cited as a major influence on the doom metal genre. Death Penalty is the debut album by NWOBHM band Witchfinder General. It was released in 1982 on Heavy Metal Records. The album received some criticism for the cover photograph, which featured topless model Joanne Latham. The photograph had been taken in the yard of St Mary the Blessed Virgin Church in Enville, Staffordshire, without the permission of the local Reverend. The album was originally released on LP and picture disc and was later reissued on CD. Pictured on the cover is Phil Cope, Zeeb Parkes, Graham Ditchfield and a member of the then Road Crew. Last Night Becomes This MorningTheir second album, following 2002's critically acclaimed "This Flag Signals Goodbye" is front man Dave Doughman's indie version of "Running On Empty". Recorded on the road, between and while on tour, at soundchecks, in hotel rooms, in rehearsal halls, and on the bus, it's an album about two artists in love and how their craft keeps them apart. Where "Running On Empty" told of the battle to cope with fame and fortune, "Last Night" chronicles the struggle to live life on the road in spite of lack of fame or fortune. From DarknessBrutal and aggressive, local band I Exist have belted out a hummer of a third album. Like being thumped repeatedly by a blunt stone, these men know how to impress themselves upon your ears.
A confident, at times understated, and well grooved effort, I Exist lock in and hammer out track after sludgy track. Recorded in Melbourne's Goat Sound Studios, the album was mixed by Phillip Cope and Jay Matheson (The Jam Room, South Carolina).
The result is an album that motors along like a Chevy-powered speedboat. With Blood Duster's Jason Fuller at the production helm, my stomach for metal sonics was well and truly fed. Eat up.

The VoyagerCelebrated California singer songwriter Jenny Lewis returns with The Voyager, which will be released by Warner Bros. Records. This is the former Rilo Kiley frontwoman's third solo album and first in six years, following 2006's Rabbit Fur Coat (with The Watson Twins) and 2008's Acid Tongue.
The Voyager is Lewis' most deeply personal album to date, documenting her struggle to cope following the death of her estranged father in 2010 and the subsequent break-up of Rilo Kiley. The Voyager's rootsy, golden glow comes courtesy of Lewis and the artists she chose to produce various tracks, including Ryan Adams (who, alongside Mike Viola, produced all but three of the tracks), Beck, and Lewis' longtime collaborator Johnathan Rice. Loud Planes Fly LowAfter The Rosebuds released Life Like, the marriage that inspired the band ended. Ivan and Kelly were done, and The Rosebuds, Merges buoyant pop-rock couple whod youthfully named their first album The Rosebuds Make Out, were in limbo.
Loud Planes Fly Low is beautifully born of the struggle to define their relationship as bandmates, and more importantly, friends outside of the context of marriage. It wasnt easy. Written and rewritten, recorded and re-recorded in fits and starts, Loud Planes Fly Low allowed Kelly and Ivan to have the very conversations about their relationship that theyd long avoided.
Despite the hard times now behind them, for The Rosebuds, the present is whats most remarkable: these ten tunes are not only some of The Rosebuds riskiest and most rewarding to date, but they also reveal a band eager to push their own limits, a couple of musicians who have come to cope with their complicated story for this blessed moment of restart. Proudly mature, genuinely reflective, Loud Planes Fly Low is the most honest Rosebuds record since Ivan and Kelly made their way out of the gates in 2003.1. Go Ahead

ADAD-XLR-6414xWillis Earl Beal
Acousmatic SorceryAcoustmatic Sorcery is the debut album from Willis Earl Beal, to be released courtesy of XL Recordings. The albums 11 songs are taken from a series of recordings Beal made while living in Albuquerque, NM. He arrived in Albuquerque without a plan, a place, or enough money to live off and began singing warm, visceral and moving tunes to help him cope while sleeping rough. He spent days drawing and printing up flyers, distributing them all over his new city. Eventually Beal found work as the night porter at a motel. It was during the late-night shifts that the 27-year-old musician from the south side of Chicago taught himself to make music. As the Summer came to an end, Willis plotted his journey back to Chicago. While he traveled across America he continued to receive phone calls as the flyers made their own journey. One caller introduced himself as Mos Def and together they plotted to write a script based on Willis life, with Mos playing the lead. Limited edition vinyl of only 1,500 copies.1. Nepenenoyka

Boo BooAfter 7 years of touring and recording, I found myself becoming self conscious about my position in life as a"famous" person, or at least my version of whatever that is. My dreams had become my reality, yet I was somehow unable to accept this new environment. I couldn't help but fall into what might be described as an identity crisis. A feedback loop of fearful thoughts left me feeling confused. I felt as though I no longer knew what it was that I actually wanted and needed in and out of life, and at times I felt unable to even tell what was real.
During this time of personal turmoil, I turned to music as a form of therapy, and it helped me cope with the pain that I was feeling. I'd listen to the same ambient song over and over again, trying to insulate myself from reality.I fell in love with space again.
By the time I felt ready to begin working on a new record,I knew that this idea of space within music would be something that propelled my new work forward. The artists that were influencing what I was making included everyone from Travis Scott to Daft Punk, Frank Ocean to Oneohtrix Point Never, Kashif and Gigi Masin. I recognized that the common thread between these artists was their attention to a feeling of space, or lack thereof.I decided that I wanted to make a Pop record with these ideas in mind. That idea for a record is what eventually became Boo Boo.LP 1

Blackberry LightCharlie Mars has been a journeyman artist with all the ups and downs that entails. He has gone from uncertainty to redemption with major label releases and high profile gigs opening for the likes of R.E.M., KT Turnstall, Citizen Cope and Steve Earle, among others. Now, with the extraordinary new Blackberry Light, the Mississippi-based troubadour builds his distinctive musical approach employing supple grooves and ambient Daniel Lanois-inspired production to enhance the elemental force of his classic songwriting influenced by Bob Marley, Bill Withers and Dire Straits.
From the dreamlike Nothing But The Rain, to the shimmering Picture of An Island, Blackberry Light sees Mars delving deep within to offer insight and a path to self awareness and ultimately transcendence via a gracefully beatific distillation of folk, rock, and smooth acoustic soul. Mars took a modest tack towards overall recording of Blackberry Light, which took place at Austin's Treefort Studios under production prowess of Billy Harvey (Bob Schneider), looking to capture those perfect uncalculated moments where everything just clicks.
Upon the sessions' conclusion, Mars sought out one of his dream collaborators legendary producer/engineer/mixer Tchad Blake. The Grammy-award winner, known for his distinctive work with such artists as Elvis Costello, Richard Thompson and Sheryl Crow, ultimately agreed and helped give Blackberry Light much of its uniquely spacious warmth. Like any songwriter worth his salt, Mars employs his art as a channel towards personal discovery, candidly exploring all the human limitations, from pride and fear to cynicism and self-doubt, that stand in the way of his attaining true happiness. 180g gatefold vinyl.1. Three EP's 2012 - 2014Dinner is the alias for Danish singer and producer Anders Rhedin. Since 2012, Dinner has released two EPs (Girl and You Are Like LA) and a guided meditation tape. This Fall, in collaboration with Texas label Red Eye Transit, we will be releasing his latest effort Oui!, a four-track EP that serves as a powerful introduction to this idiosyncratic musician.
Dinner's songs seem to be inspired by his own life-in the lyrics you find references to cities, parties and girls (the
latter sometimes referred to as "the divine feminine"). Dinner himself claims that "All the songs are about death and transcendence."
At times, Dinner sounds a bit like a sun-bleached cassette tape you'd find stuck behind your car's dashboard-last played at a party in Dusseldorf in 1984-full of echoes of sweaty
depressions, spiritual longings, and early-morning trances." At times, Dinner sounds a bit like melodic EBM-meets-Europop with elements of Danish darkwave. And sometimes he sounds
more like the male descendant of Nico singing Eno-esque pop songs on discarded Julian
Cope tracks. Whomever you ask, you'll find Dinner's sound defies simple classification.
In his own words, his influences range from rock 'n' roll and pop giants like Michael Jackson and
Velvet Underground, to experimental tape-music pioneers like Steve Reich.
Dinner lives a somewhat nomadic existence, having alternated between LA, Berlin and
Copenhagen. This last year, Dinner's itinerary has included falling in love with a baroness in
Berlin, learning Qigong from a renowned Sifu on a mountainside in the Algarve, working on
commercial pop songs in Hollywood ("The essence of dark magic," according to Dinner), and
playing shows at festivals and galleries all over Europe. His current location is LA, where he is working on his debut full-length. Look out for that 2015.1. Going Out

But I feel like when you hit that low, you have nowhere to go but up. Counterparts has always been about coping with everything life throws at you, and it's no different with this release. SchmilcoChicago band Wilco's 10th studio album, Schmilco, features 12 new songs written by Jeff Tweedy and is the band's third release on their own dBpm Records. It follows Star Wars, which was released for free and as a surprise in July 2015.
Mostly an acoustic collection, Schmilco bears neither the vicious, fuzz-glam guitars of Star Wars, nor the dazzling, baroque-ish arrangements that fans have come to expect from Wilco. But in their place is a spaciousness and chaos that might feel welcome after 20-some years of enjoyed but now-familiar Wilco releases. It is an intentionally loose affair.
Schmilco finds band leader Tweedy in a state of alienation: how to cope with dissonance between self-identity and the public perception of his band - to maintain an innocence and earnestness even as some have come to see him as more (or less) than human, and Wilco as something other than six musicians?
"I think this record is 'joyously negative'," Tweedy said. "It's sad in a lot of ways but not in any that reach a conclusion of doom or hopelessness I just had a lot of fun being sour about the things that upset me."
On Thursday, Wilco shared "Locator" from the forthcoming album and today shares "If I Ever Was A Child." Both songs are available as an instant download upon pre-ordering the album in the band's store, on iTunes or Amazon.
Recorded at the band's Chicago studio the Loft, Schmilco is produced by Jeff Tweedy and Tom Schick.

OST Of The 2016 Movie, Based On The Best Selling Book By Patrick Ness
Score By Fernando Velázquez
Featuring The Title Track Tear Up This Town By Keane
A Monster Calls is a fantasy drama film about a boy seeking the help of a tree monster to cope with his single mom's terminal illness. Ancient, wild, and relentless, the Monster guides Conor on a journey of courage, faith, and truth.
The film is directed by J.A. Bayona who was inevitable praised for his previous directing work The Orphanage.
The critics site Rotten Tomatoes reports an approval rating of 85% for the film, based on 52 reviews, with an average rating of 7.4/10. The site reads, A Monster Calls deftly balances dark themes and fantastical elements to deliver an engrossing and uncommonly moving entry in the crowded coming-of-age genre.
The intriguing Score for the film is composed by Fernando Velázquez, who already had experience in the world of cinema and especially in the terror genre. He composed films like Devil, written & produced by M. Night Shyamalan, and the Guillermo del Toro-produced feature The Orphanage.
In 2010 he was one of eleven selected composers to create symphonic works for the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra. In the same year Film Music Magazine rated his score to 'Devil' as one of the best scores of the year, quoting Velazquez's brassily orchestral ambitions pay more of a blood oath to Bernard Herrmann and James Newton Howard, with the kind of churning, melodically rich symphonic sound that makes DEVIL's mostly elevator-bound setting anything but claustrophobic.
Two years later Film Music Magazine ranked his score to 'The Impossible' as one of the Top 10 scores of the year.LP 1

Sonny Smith copes with a painful separation from his wife on this extremely personal country album. Recorded directly to tape in a musty basement smelling of beer and tobacco, Longtime Companion explores love and heartache along the vein of Gene Clark, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and Johnny Cash.
Sonny dives into his self-described "sea of darkness" with a wide range of intimate lyrics, pedal steel, and acoustic guitars. UNIM-BLA-9218xJoan Jett & The Blackhearts
UnvarnishedUnvarnished is the 14th studio album by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts released on the Blackheart Records label.
Joan Jett has been through some dark times over the last 10 years - so many that she refers to it as her 'decade of death.' But she's channeled that grief into a new album, 'Unvarnished,' that contains some of her most personal work.
I wrote a lot about what teenagers write about: love, sex and partying and having a good time. As you grow up, things change, she explained. You have responsibilities and realize you've got to do stuff. I suppose you could run from that, but you've got to be there for your family and your friends.
Jett's 'decade of death' included the loss of both parents, which - as one might expect - proved difficult to cope with. They made it possible for me to do this. They encouraged me. They got me the guitar, she recalled. My father, who hated rock & roll, put up with it. He didn't come down on me to stop it. So losing my parents was big, and I think it translated to the music in songs like 'Fragile,' which is about life being fragile, love being fragile, how easy it is to break hearts.
Those themes carry over into other songs on 'Unvarnished,' as Jett went on to explain. 'Hard to Grow Up' is about responsibility and realizing that I've got to do this, she continued. The song 'Make It Back' is about Hurricane Sandy and people's attitudes. You don't see a lot of press about it as I go around the country. It was very devastating. My town is still beat up. People were really crushed. It gave me a sense of what it's like to be in a war zone.
It wasn't just personal or communal tragedies that stood between Jett and new material, either. I convinced myself I had writer's block, she explained. It was 'Reality Mentality' that was the song that took me a long time to write. I used to think that songs just came to me. They didn't - you had to sit down and work at it. Just be patient, write a couple of lines, leave it, come back to it and stuff will pop out. And all of a sudden, stuff started coming, and I realized: You don't have writer's block. Your expectations were wrong.
What it all adds up to, in Jett's opinion, is a record that should resonate with fans. The songs have a serious tone, but they're relatable, she concluded. They're songs about stuff everybody goes through.1. Any Weather (606 Version)

Pure Comedy, Father John Misty's third album, is a complex, often-sardonic, and, equally often, touching meditation on the confounding folly of modern humanity. Father John Misty is the brainchild of singer-songwriter Josh Tillman. Tillman has released two widely acclaimed albums - Fear Fun (2012) and I Love You, Honeybear (2015) - and the recent "Real Love Baby" single as Father John Misty, and recently contributed to songs by BeyoncÉ, Lady Gaga, and Kid Cudi.
While we could say a lot about Pure Comedy - including that it is a bold, important album in the tradition of American songwriting greats like Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, and Leonard Cohen - we think it's best to let its creator describe it himself. Take it away, Mr. Tillman: Pure Comedy is the story of a species born with a half-formed brain. The species' only hope for survival, nding itself on a cruel, unpredictable rock surrounded by other species who seem far more adept at this whole thing (and to whom they are delicious), is the reliance on other, slightly older, half-formed brains. This reliance takes on a few different names as their story unfolds, like "love," "culture," "family," etc. Over time, and as their brains prove to be remarkably good at inventing meaning where there is none, the species becomes the purveyor of increasingly bizarre and sophisticated ironies. These ironies are designed to help cope with the species' loathsome vulnerability and to try and reconcile how disproportionate their imagination is to the monotony of their existence. Something like that.
Pure Comedy was recorded in 2016 at the legendary United Studios (Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Beck) in Hollywood, CA. It was produced by Father John Misty and Jonathan Wilson, with engineering by Misty's longtime sound-person Trevor Spencer and orchestral arrangements by renowned composer/double-bassist Gavin Bryars (known for extensive solo work, and work with Brian Eno, Tom Waits, Derek Bailey).LP 1
