    Loaded: Best of Blake Shelton

Loaded: The Best of Blake Shelton, is a solid collection of the country singer's singles, hits, and favorites from his five studio full-lengths, and the two six-track EPs he released in the latter year. Fifteen tracks deep, it begins with the two cuts that put him on contemporary country's radar -- Ol Red and Austin -- from his self-titled debut album in 2001.

The Dreamer, from 2003, is represented by the its two best cuts, The Baby, and the classic Playboys of the Southwestern World. There are three from 2004's Blake Shelton's Bar & Grill, including Shawn Camp's stellar Nobody But Me, and Shelton's reading of the Conway Twitty smash Goodbye Time. Pure BS, from 2007, is showcased by a pair of numbers, including The More I Drink and a third, Home, comes from the deluxe edition of album.

There's a solid version of She Wouldn't Be Gone from 2008's Startin' Fires to round things out. The first 11 tracks were a given, and Shelton's annotations in the booklet make a solid case for their inclusion. That said, Shelton also tacks on the title track from the Hillbilly Bone, Six Pack, as well as Kiss My Country Ass from the same set.

Further, Who Are You When I'm Not Looking and the title track from the second EP are here. All four of these songs were released earlier in the calendar year, making their appearances seem redundant at best and, frankly, like a cynical money grab at worst. Oftentimes, less really is more.

    Jolene

Jolene is Dolly Parton's 13th solo studio album, produced by Bob Ferguson. The title track, Jolene, tells the tale of a housewife confronting a beautiful seductress who she believes is having an affair with her husband. It became Parton's second solo number-one country single; it also was a moderate pop hit for her, and also did well in the United Kingdom. It has been covered by numerous performers.

The album was released around the time Parton was embarking on a solo career, after having spent seven years as part of Porter Wagoner's weekly TV series and road show, and one of the album's songs, I Will Always Love You, was reportedly written to express the remorse Parton felt over the professional breakup. Released as the album's second single, it also became a number-one country single. In 1992, Whitney Houston's version of I Will Always Love You was a mega-hit pop ballad.

Two of the album's songs had been released on previous Parton albums: Early Morning Breeze was a remixed version of a recording which had first appeared on 1971's Coat of Many Colors album (the Jolene version was remixed to more prominently feature the bass and electric steel), while Lonely Coming Down had first appeared on Parton's Wagoner tribute album, My Favorite Songwriter: Porter Wagoner, from 1972.

By The Time I Get To Phoenix

Glen Campbell's commercial breakthrough came by way of the title track, which was the direct precursor in production terms to Wichita Lineman, and by the same writer. The cover of Paul Simon's Homeward Bound is sincere if a little perfunctory, but Campbell's rendition of Ernest Tubb's Tomorrow Never Comes is a bravura performance, rich and soulful, as well as recalling Rodgers & Hammerstein's You'll Never Walk Alone as done by Gerry & the Pacemakers. Cold December in Your Heart harks back to Campbell's country-folk material, a piece of midtempo country-pop. Material like that and the similar Back in the Race, Dorsey Burnette's Hey Little One, Jerry Reed's You're Young and You'll Forget, and Bill Anderson's Bad Seed hold up better than more pop-focused numbers like My Baby's Gone, though the string backings on most of these very much date them. The final number here, the touching Love Is a Lonesome River, makes a brilliant coda.

    Country Life

Ranked 387/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Country Life is Roxy Music's second release after the departure of Brian Eno and it's arguably the highpoint of the band's ouput from that era. The haunting, melancholic The Thrill of It All, the art-rockin' Out of the Blue, the almost-pure '50s rock of If It Takes All Night, the decadent affectations of A Really Good Time and the concluding Prairie Rose, all offer glimpses of alternative rock before the genre even existed. The combination of textures is exhilarating, and the songwriting which draws on elements of R&B, cabaret music and glam rock is among the band's most accomplished. Here on Limited Edition 180 gram Vinyl.

Deluxe Edition Includes Demos And Live Tracks

Produced by Pete Anderson, the disc's sinewy mix of traditional honky-tonk, red-hot Bakersfield twang and rock n' roll attitude spawned a trio of hits including a cover of Johnny Horton's Honky Tonk Man, It Won't Hurt, and the title track. In the bigger picture, its stripped-down sound twisted together strains of Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Elvis Presley, and more--with a roots-driven rawness, it changed and revitalized country music.

    That Lonesome Song

Jamey Johnson is a successful songwriter on Nashville's Music Row, who has authored hits by George Strait, Trace Adkins, George Jones and Joe Nichols. That Lonesome Song, Johnson's debut album as a performer, is a happy throwback to the outlaw country of the 1970s, with his gruff, character-filled vocals surrounded by a small, rocking combo including pedal steel, organ and fiddles. Rather than the polished soft rock of so much contemporary Nashville product, That Lonesome Song is a rough and ready honky-tonk album that compares favorably to Waylon Jennings and early Steve Earle. Highlights include Mowin' Down the Roses and the celebratory Between Jennings and Jones.

    Wide Open Spaces

Newly Remastered And Pressed On High Resolution 150 Gram Vinyl

Dixie Chicks first came together as a bluegrass quartet in Texas in 1989, later becoming a trio in 1995 when founding members (and sisters) Emily Robison (banjo/dobro) and Martie Maguire (fiddle/mandolin) were joined by 21-year-old Natalie Maines (daughter of guitarist/producer Lloyd Maines) as the group's new lead vocalist and guitarist. By the late 1990s, the classic Dixie Chicks trio lineup struck a stunning balance between the traditional Nashville sound and the contemporary influences of alternative rock and pop.

Dixie Chicks succeeded beyond all expectations: their first album as a trio, Wide Open Spaces, catapulted the group to the top of the country charts and into crossover success. Aided by back-to-back Country No. 1 singles "There's Your Trouble," "Wide Open Spaces" and "You Were Mine," Wide Open Spaces sold more than 12 million copies in the United States--more than all the top country acts of that year combined--and it's still the best-selling country album by a group ever. Wide Open Spaces won the Best Country Album Grammy while There's Your Trouble took home the Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal trophy.

    Ranie Burnette's Hill Country Blues

Ranie Burnette was born on July 4th, 1913 in Pleasant Grove, MS, located in Panola County. While he was known to have played local dances and juke joints in the hill country of North Mississippi during the 1940's and 50's, competing with the likes of Fred McDowell, no known recordings of Ranie were made until the 70's and early 80's while he was living in Senatobia.

During that time he recorded two sides for a regional 45 single and was later recorded by Leo Bruin, both in Senatobia and during a trip Ranie made to the Netherlands. Some of those recordings appear on the Swingmaster CD Going Down South, along with tracks by harmonica player Johnny Woods and R.L. Burnside, whom Ranie mentored and often played with.

Burnette's music, like the aforementioned artists, is strongly rooted in the rhythmic tradition of the fife and drum bands from the region, which you'll hear on this 11-song collection, also recorded by Leo Bruin. Ranie Burnette died in Memphis, TN, on January 23, 2000 and is buried in the cemetery at Ebeneezer Missionary Baptist Church in Como, MS.

The Country Blues Of John Lee Hooker

John Lee Hooker is the most down-home of the major post-war blues figures, "a most authentic singer of the way-back, close-to-the-soil kind of blues," as
Orrin Keepnews once wrote. Of his innumerable recordings, The Country Blues of John Lee Hooker is perhaps the truest to Hooker's Mississippi roots.
The celebrated guitarist set his usual amplified instrument aside, in exchange for an acoustic guitar, only accompanied by his voice. The result is an
intimate, wonderfully varied set of deep Delta blues, moans and boogies. Some songs are autobiographical, others re-workings of blues standards-all
stamped with the hauntingly personal John Lee Hooker touch.

The Ramblin' Man is an album by Waylon Jennings, released in 1974. With a slightly more commercial sound than some of his previous records, The Ramblin' Man remained true to Jennings' outlaw country image and uncompromising musical vision.

The album was released at what was still considered to be the height of the outlaw movement in Country music, and this was reflected in its chart success, with the LP peaking at #3 on the Country charts. Jennings produced it himself, with Ray Pennington co-producing Oklahoma Sunshine and I'm a Ramblin' Man.

The album also includes a gutsy cover of the Allman Brothers' Midnight Rider, cementing Jennings' fearless reputation as a leader of the progressive Country sound.

    Kepi Goes Country

Recorded near a castle in France while on a European tour with buddy Forest Pooky, Kepi Goes Country is the fulfillment of a long time dream of Kepi's to do many of his classic songs in an acoustic/Americana format! The recordings turned out so well he brought them back to the states and augmented the sessions with additional friends, vocals, and instruments, to make one of his favorite records in a long-running career in music!

    Greatest Hits (Patsy Cline)

200-gram vinyl pressing by Quality Record Pressings!

Cut at Sterling Sound directly from the original master tape. This was a straight transfer, bypassing the console altogether. There was no EQ of any kind. A true direct transfer, using a VMS 80, the most sophisticated lathe. You're hearing the master tape!

In the late 1950s and the '60s, country music was essentially a singles medium. This album, first released in 1967, collects a dozen of Patsy Cline's biggest hits - all of them from the country singles market - including Walkin' After Midnight, Sweet Dreams (Of You), Crazy, and I Fall to Pieces. Producer Owen Bradley surrounds Cline's full-throated, emotionally charged vocals with lush, sophisticated arrangements that set the standard for Nashville's countrypolitan sound. Before Shania Twain found a new (though not necessarily improved) way to combine country and pop in the 1990s, this was the top-selling country album of all time by a female artist.

It's still sobering to realize that Hank recorded just 66 songs during his lifetime, almost all of them essential. Grand Ole Opry's New Star

In 1956 The Grand Ole Opry invited a young country singer named George Jones to perform on their show. The 25 year-old Marine Corp veteran was already picking up momentum in his homeland of Texas, where he was signed to Starday Records. A year earlier his song "Why Baby, Why" became his first hit. However, in his own words, "My success as a country singer, no matter how big it became, would always be limited unless I appeared on the Grand Ole Opry." When he finally got the call to perform at the Opry, he drove almost 800 miles from Houston, borrowed a guitar from Jimmy Dickens, and performed one song. His appearance was a success and he was quickly asked to come back and become a member.

Back in Beaumont, Texas, Jack Starnes and Pappy Daily knew they had to move quickly if their label, Starday Records, was going to keep up with Jones' new found popularity. In early 1957 they released George Jones' first album, Grand Ole Opry's New Star, which also happened to be Starday's first LP. To this day this record has never been reissued in its entirety, making it one of the most collectible country records in the world. Lovingly remastered and carefully restored, this remarkable piece of music history has never looked and sounded so good.

Reserve Records is a new imprint. What better way to start than with a reissue of the debut album by one of the greatest artists of all time released as the first LP by one of the most historic labels in the history of American music?
