    Together Alone

Together Alone is the fourth studio album by the band Crowded House. It was originally released in October 1993 and was their first album to feature multi-instrumentalist Mark Hart as a full band member. Unlike the band's first three albums, which were recorded in the US and Australia and produced by Mitchell Froom, Together Alone was recorded in New Zealand with producer Youth. Seven singles were released from Together Alone, including Distant Sun, which was a top 10 hit in New Zealand and Canada, and Locked Out which reached number 12 on the UK singles chart and number 8 on the US Modern Rock chart, the latter on the strength of the song's inclusion on the soundtrack of the 1994 film Reality Bites.

    Reality Bites Soundtrack

Reality Bites is a 1994 American romantic comedy-drama film written by Helen Childress and directed by Ben Stiller. It stars Winona Ryder, Ethan Hawke and Stiller, with supporting roles by Janeane Garofalo and Steve Zahn. The plot follows Lelaina (Ryder), an aspiring videographer working on a documentary called Reality Bites about the disenfranchised lives of her friends and roommates. Their challenges exemplify some of the career and lifestyle choices faced by Generation X.

The film's soundtrack includes songs by U2, Lenny Kravitz, World Party, Squeeze, The Knack (My Sharona featured prominently in one scene from the film), Juliana Hatfield, Dinosaur Jr, and Crowded House in addition to the runaway hit Stay (I Missed You) by Lisa Loeb, which earned Loeb the distinction of being the first artist to top the Hot 100 before being signed to any record label.

    Mama Says I'm Crazy

Since no one could copyright Mississippi, two major blues performers, Fred McDowell and John Hurt, adopted the state as part of their name. To confuse matters more, both performers made comebacks during the late '50s/early '60s and both specialized in prewar acoustic blues. While a blues novice might find such similarities confusing, the two men's singing and guitar styles are polar opposites. Whereas Hurt's smooth, deep vocals and Piedmont fingerpicking made him easily accessible to the folk revival crowd, McDowell's soulful vocals and forcefully rhythmic guitar represented something more primitive. In 1967, producer George Mitchell brought together McDowell and harp player Johnny Woods for an off-the-cuff session not unlike what one might have heard at a Como, MS, house party. Interestingly, the two men hadn't played together in eight years, but on songs like Standing at the Backdoor and the title track, one would never guess it. This isn't a polite affair, with one player holding back while the other solos. Instead, McDowell and Woods trade notes, overlap, and rush forward on Long Haired Doney and Shake Em' on Down as though they had an unlimited supply of energy. While McDowell's vocals and slashing guitar propel Goin' Away and I Got a Woman forward, Woods' harp adds pizzazz. Acoustic blues fans will warmly embrace Mama Says I'm Crazy and be thankful that Mitchell went to the trouble required to track down Woods for this earthy set.

    The Sinister Urge

    Picture Disc

Hard rock's brightest shock rocker avoids the sophomore slump on the fun and energetic The Sinister Urge. Zombie's trademark growl is still in fine form, roaring over the 11 tracks with his unique blend of acid-throated venom. But most interesting are the directions he tries to bring to his familiar sound, which he has been cultivating since the hardcore punk days of White Zombie. Never Gonna Stop (The Red, Red Kroovy) is the most apparent example of this, a song that borders on pop with its groovy handclaps and acoustic guitars. But not to be worried, the chorus kicks back into classic Zombie, complete with sampled crowd chants and his trademark yeah. Going to California has a similar vibe, albeit darker and with a Welcome to My Nightmare-era Alice Cooper showbiz quality to it. But when it comes time to rock out, Zombie is more than ready. Dead Girl Superstar is probably the best of the bunch, raging along at lightning speed and featuring an awesome guest appearance by Slayer guitarist Kerry King. Iron Head is also quite good, matching Zombie's bark with guest singer Ozzy Osbourne's trademark banshee wail over a swaggering beat and chugging riff. And finally there is House of 1000 Corpses, the theme from the film Zombie directed that apparently offended Universal Studios so much that they refused to release it. The song is a nice departure for him, like a Leonard Cohen song filtered through Violator-era Depeche Mode. It is the slow burn of this last track that shows the most promise; after years of making good heavy metal, he finally expands the boundaries of his own sound. Few metal musicians kept their sound fresh for as long as Zombie, and this album is no exception. This may not win any new fans, but anyone who enjoyed his old material will probably find this to be a welcome addition to their collection.

    Wallflower

Wallflower is five-time Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall's new studio album released via Verve Records. Wallflower is a collection of songs from the late 60's to present day that inspired Krall in her early years. Produced by 16-time
Grammy® Award-winning producer David Foster, the album finds Krall breaking new ground with her interpretations of some of the greatest pop songs of
    all time.

On Wallflower, Diana Krall showcases her considerable gifts as a vocalist in a bold and beautiful way. Krall sings a set of songs that include
familiar popular classics like The Mamas and the Papas' "California Dreaming" and the Eagles' "Desperado," favorite vintage songs by Krall's musical
heroes Bob Dylan (he inspired the album's title track "Wallflower") and Elton John ("Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word"). The album also features
more recent gems like Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over" and a wonderful new composition from Paul McCartney ("If I Take You Home Tonight").
Diana Krall's unique artistry transcends any single musical style and has made her one of the most recognizable artists of our time. Krall has sold more
albums than any other female jazz artist in the last 30 years, establishing herself as one of the best-selling artists of her generation. The new album marks
Krall's first studio effort since 2012's Glad Rag Doll, produced by T Bone Burnett, which debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and at No. 1 on the Jazz
    Albums chart.

Diana Krall is the only jazz singer to have eight albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. To date, she has won five
Grammy® Awards, eight Juno® Awards and has also earned nine gold, three platinum and seven multi-platinum albums. Tour dates will be announced

    Alive 1997

Alive 1997 reveals the French duo Daft Punk as one of the brightest entertainers in the occasionally stale world of album-based electronic dance. True, techno and house DJs can light up a crowd like few others, but the increasing artist slant of electronica often results in push-button programming and straight-from-DAT live performances, with most of the heavy lifting relegated to the lighting supervisor and effects computers. This brief glimpse at Daft Punk's live show circa 1997 (their major breakout year) is a tour de force of high-energy theatrics and flair. Aside from the pair of WDPK interludes, Alive 1997 includes only three tracks, but they're so radically different from their album versions that they're only barely familiar. The duo's biggest hit so far, Da Funk, is stretched out to 16 minutes with a start-and-stop improvisation section that brings the crowd to a peak, while Rollin' & Scratchin' never looks back after breaking right on through the red-line. An energizing document, Alive 1997 is one of the few live records to approximate the excitement of the original live show.

Like Some Kind Of Alien Invasion

With a musical career spanning more than thirty-five years, guitarist, sonic innovator, and two time Grammy nominee Tim Reynolds is known for his masterful command of melody and timing and for his uncanny ability to improvise on any instrument he touches. Having explored most musical styles, from rock, jazz and blues to classical and reggae, Reynolds' wide-ranging musical versatility is evident each time he picks up his electric or acoustic guitar. Technically brilliant, yet emotionally honest, Reynolds' music is inspired and authentic.

It was in the mid 1980s in Charlottesville, VA, when Reynolds founded his breakthrough electric power trio, TR3 (Tim Reynolds 3), known for their fusion of funk, rock, and jazz. He toured with TR3 during the 1980s and 1990s, using a rotating cast of musicians. It was at this time that he befriended Dave Matthews and their ongoing musical collaboration began. Tim eventually decided to relocate to Santa Fe, NM, and pursue a solo career. His musical progression continued throughout his many years on the road as a solo guitar wizard, playing for packed houses and to crowds who quickly determined that Reynolds is one of the most talented and thoughtful musicians on the circuit today. After a number of years in New Mexico, Reynolds relocated to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 2007. After a chance meeting with two talented musicians, bass player
Mick Vaughn and drummer Dan Martier, a few rehearsals later and several stealth appearances throughout North Carolina, Reynolds decided to resurrect the electric TR3 and they've been touring ever since.

    I Wish U Heaven (Single)

    12 Maxi-Single Reissue

Featuring I Wish U Heaven And Scarlet Pussy

I Wish U Heaven is a joyful, spiritual song with few lyrics, which runs 2:43. The 12 single is a substantially extended three-part suite which runs over ten minutes.

Part One of the mix starts with a stripped-down version of the Lovesexy album song, remixed with a dance beat. The original drum programming and rhythmic electric guitar riffs are deleted for much of the song.

Part Two is a gospel rendition with new lyrics, continuing the spiritual theme. This part of the song was often sung in concert during the Lovesexy World Tour. The beginning of this section paraphrases lyrics from Housequake, from the previous album Sign O the Times. Prince also quotes the film Scarface with the lines Say hello to my little friend... and then introduces the Blue Angel, a new blue version of his custom White Cloud guitar featured in the film Purple Rain. Sheila E. is also given a call out, and her voice can be heard responding in this section.

Part Three is based on an outtake called Take This Beat and deviates quite a bit from the original theme. This segment has Prince using his Jamie Starr persona to humorously tout the fact that he's funky, musically talented, and has plenty of beats (songs) that are so fine. The song ends with a looped repeat of the title. This version of the song became one of the highlights during the supporting tour in which Prince would usually order the house lights to be turned up, and instruct the crowd during a call and response segment.

The B-side, Scarlet Pussy, is credited to Prince's alter ego, Camille. The song is very sexual, using metaphors of cats and dogs for sexual organs, a theme Prince previously used for the B-side La, La, La, He, He, Hee. Prince uses his sped-up Camille vocals, as well as a slowed-down vocal, similar to Bob George from The Black Album. The song features a saxophone solo from Eric Leeds. The decision to include such a raunchy song with the spiritual A-side was noteworthy. The edit of Scarlet Pussy was included on 1993's The Hits/The B-Sides.

    Haunts

I stay up drinking with your ghost every night.

Haunts is full of memories. People you used to know. Rooms where you lived, streets you walked down. The lover you haven't spoken to in years who still lives in your dreams. Because the past is never dead. It's not even past.

Sometimes music is memory. The emotional memory of a songwriter, distilled into a way of viewing the world. Some songwriters are cartographers, mapping an inner landscape of hope and regrets. Each song is an invisible city, populated by ghosts. That is the land, and these are the people, of Tiny Victories' debut full-length album, Haunts.

Tell your ghost to leave me alone-

I can't sleep no more in my own home.

The surprise is that the tone of much of Haunts is joyous, even celebratory. Synths and electronic squiggles crash against pounding beats in ecstatic, orgiastic rhythms. Lyrically, though, the album is a compendium of love and loss. The contrast creates rooms of light and shadow (in "Scott & Zelda" or "Systems") or the oceanic catharsis of a party at the end of the world ("Austin, TX" and "This Revolution").

Tiny Victories' new album is a statement of purpose-and a point of arrival. The songwriting has evolved in a more focused direction, with a tighter structure, while Greg Walters and Cason Kelly continue to build on the experimental sonic architecture that fascinated them in their early days. Synth lines cut through through the dense underbrush of electronic soundscapes, propelled forward by Cason's relentless drumming. Greg's self-assured voice soars above the commotion. Haunts was produced and mixed by industry veteran Alex Aldi (Passion Pit, Holy Ghost!) and mastered by Chris Gehringer (Yeasayer, Chairlift, Jay-Z).

The song ideas were born in bedrooms crowded with samplers, Kaoss Pads and other electronic gadgets. Then the duo moved into Alex Aldi's Brooklyn studio in mid-2013. Aldi's studio was the de facto storage house for Passion Pit frontman Michael Angelakos' synth collection. Greg and Cason dove into this gear. Much of the record was performed on Angelakos' hardware.

Tiny Victories was formed in 2010 when Greg Walters met Cason Kelly in a Brooklyn bar. Both had played in a variety of other musical projects for years. Otherwise, they were an unlikely duo. Greg was just back from a six-year stint as a foreign correspondent based in Moscow, Russia. He'd covered the original Orange Revolution in Ukraine, the Tulip Revolution in Kyrgyzstan, and crisscrossed Siberia in a helicopter chasing after secretive oil company executives. During the Russian-Georgian war, he rode into the zone in a Russian armed personnel carrier as an embedded journalist.

"Journalism and music are both ways of making sense of the world," Greg says. "Journalism looks outward at what's happening around you. Music explores your inner life." Cason had recently moved to New York from Athens, GA, and was doing social work with inner city kids-a different kind of daily struggle. Both were burned out and looking for something new. They each wanted to take their music farther than it had gone before. They decided to start a band.

Their 7 vinyl debut in 2011 was followed by the critically acclaimed 2012 EP, Those Of Us Still Alive. John Schaefer of NPR's Soundcheck picked Tiny Victories as a local band likely to break big nationally, and invited them to do a live show on the air. Momentum began to snowball, culminating in invitations to play Bonnaroo in 2012 and 2013 and a slot on the Bonnaroo 365 tour with White Denim and Maps & Atlases.

    Dance Mania: Ghetto Madness

Strut return to the archives of seminal Chicago house label Dance Mania in January 2015 for 'Dance Mania: Ghetto Madness'. The follow-up to Strut's acclaimed Dance Mania label retrospective 'Hardcore Traxx' from early 2014, this new installment places the spotlight on the raw, stripped back, hyper bpms of ghetto house and the rise of the movement's fresh generation of stars during the mid' 90's including DJ Deeon, DJ Funk, Jammin' Gerald and DJ Milton. The album tells the story of the evolution of Chicago's sound during the era as mix tapes circulated through local stores and DJs developed their own underground following, playing local parties in the projects. Crowds began responding to faster bpms and gangsta rap-inspired X-rated lyrics. As DJ Deeon remembers, "it bridged the gap. It made it OK for guys in the ghetto to like house again and it brought the women onto the dance floor too." Dance Mania was perfectly positioned to capitalise on the new sound - many of the DJ's came regularly into Ray Barney's record store and, as Chicago's most trusted and respected label owner, he was offered the best tracks for commercial release at an early stage. 'Ghetto Madness' brings together some of the underground classics and enduring favourites that earned Dance Mania the title of 'Ghetto House's Motown'. Tracks include DJ Deeon's party-starter 'The Freaks', raw DJ Funk cut 'Computer Sex' and Nina Kraviz favourite, Paul Johnson's 'Give Me Ecstacy'. Other featured gems from the archive include the dark early Steve Poindexter outing 'Computer Madness' and Tyree's in-demand jam, 'Nuthin' Wrong'.

Not to turn down a good opportunity, the band recorded a number of shows on their UK / European Tour with the same team that made 'Make Some Noise' blow speakers worldwide. The album was mixed by Anthony Focx (Aerosmith, Bad Company, Metallica, Santana) at Focxhole Studios and mastered by Howie Weinberg.

They assembled a true monster in the vein of the great live albums of the 70s. You can feel the sweat drip from the ceilings and the energy of the crowd becoming one with the band, as they scream, holler and forget about our often mundane reality for a night of true Rock'n'Roll.

Warts 'n all, 'LIVE & LOUDER' is a document of a band in their prime; a raw slice of visceral energy, an in-your-face assault on the senses. Simply: THE DEAD DAISIES in their element and at their best!

    Nausea

After a dormant period following the release of the Gallery EP in 2012,
Craft Spells' Justin Vallesteros is back with the gorgeously ambitious Nausea.
It's Craft Spells' second proper full length LP, and first since 2010's critically
    acclaimed Idle Labor.

Since last on the radar, Justin moved to San Francisco to find a niche in the
Bay Area music scene. This proved difficult within the regarded garage rock
scene and insular DJ night crowds currently dominating the area's music community. Here, Justin fell into a slump, creatively. With a severe bout of writer's
block he retreated to his parent's house in Lathrop, CA. Away from the city,
he put down his guitar for a full year in favor of properly training himself on
piano, the instrument from which all the tracks for Nausea were written.

The demos came together in early 2014 and Vallesteros flew to Seattle to
produce and record the LP, full of ideas and a new found maturity in both
songwriting and recording sophistication. Within the first few seconds of lead
single "Breaking the Angle Against the Tide" we know we're not listening to
the same Craft Spells anymore. This is a bold, beautiful and lush new sound
emphasizing the songwriting abilities Vallesteros always had. An album highlighted by loads of piano, real strings and acoustic guitar, this change is like
the color coming alive in the Wizard of Oz. The beautiful "Komorebi" with it's
piano chord progression and sorrowful string accompaniment emphasizes this
newfound maturity and confidence as a writer that is the next logical step in
    Craft Spells' career.

Nausea could easily have been a record rife with indecision and anxiety.
But like the song for which the album is named, Craft Spells was able to turn
the chaos and disillusionment into a work that provides ammo against that
very thing, with beauty, vision and melody.

    409

Purple play pop music. Messy, dirty, raucous, grit-spitting, tequila-glugging pop music. They do not apologise for this. They have a big streak of it running skunk-like up their backs and through urgent tunes full of indie-punk snarl and piss and vinegar, but driven by grooves deep enough to rival any hop-hop classics. They are wrestling pop away from the world of vocoders, slick dance routines and coquettish airheads and bringing back to where it belongs: to the beach, to the house party, dancing on the table in that bar you need a fake ID to get into. They like to bare flesh and play until they bleed. Good things followed: a huge local following, two managers and endless touring.

'(409)' is the name of the area code for their East Texas neighbour and the name of Purple's debut album produced by Chris 'Frenchie' Smith (...Trail Of Dead, Jet ). Recorded in El Paso, '(409)' is an album that's borne out of endless jams and no shortage of live shows where Purple offer a combination of the explosive and the celebratory. Instruments are abused and crowds are surfed; their shows are somewhere between the wild, fleshy abandonment of early White Stripes. "We're positive people," shrugs Busby. "We're always looking for the party somewhere. Or maybe we are the party."

Pop is there in the 60s garage-influenced brilliance of 'Beach Buddy', a song propelled by a dual girl/boy vocal and the same endless summer joie de vivre of Ramones, Black Lips and Weezer . The chorus is an earworm that burrows deep. It's there too in 'Wallflower', a joyously uplifting song that flips the usual script and sees a girl ardently - some might say aggressively - pursuing an admirer through the upended bottles, overflowing ashtrays and tangled limbs of a party: "I'm a girl - you're supposed to be chasing me!" With definite shades of Bikini Kill and No Doubt it's the best femme-punk song we've heard in an aeon. 'Head On The Floor' meanwhile is a proto-grunge song that swings like early Hole and has a whole of soul.

'(409)' is certainly an album with sand in its shoes and a rocket up its ass. It transports you to a better place. Listening to Purple quickens your pulse. Gives you the sweats. Has you reaching for a cold one. And then another. And then ten more. They make you feel alive. They are good for you.

Tour De Force - Royal Albert Hall

Tour De Force chronicles Bonamassa's atmospheric rise from the intimate club environment of The Borderline, to the prestigious Royal Albert Hall. Each individual evening was marked by a unique theme with different setlists, arrangements and ensembles providing the viewer with four unique performances. His journey begins in the intimate setting of the 200-capacity London Borderline with a three-piece band. The result is a jammy tribute to Bonamassa's earlier career, with songs he hasn't played live in years. Next is a blues-themed night at Shepherd's Bush Empire, featuring a horns section to create a soulful, big-blues-band feel. He then moves to the Hammersmith Apollo which opens with a short acoustic set before moving into a rock-inspired evening. Finally, at the Royal Albert Hall, Bonamassa treats the crowd to a half acoustic/half electric show of his most popular and well-known songs, featuring the acoustic band from his most recent release, An Acoustic Evening at the Vienna Opera House. Each night's performance features a different selection of songs - over 60 in total and some having never been performed live before - from his extensive career beginning with 2000's A New Day Yesterday.

The end result more than lived up to its billing as "The Guitar Event of The Year" and saw Bonamassa reliving, revisiting and redefining the many phases and pivotal moments throughout his career over the course of four evenings. It goes without saying that the challenge was daunting, but Bonamassa more than picked up the gauntlet after it was thrown down and delivered a once-in-a-lifetime performance that more than serves as an appropriate career-retrospective for an artist who has already achieved so much.

"London is like my second home," says Bonamassa. "With these shows, I wanted to give the fans attending the London 2013 shows a real treat - something special to thank them for their unwavering support. Over the years I've received audience requests for tracks that we've never performed live; it felt right that we delve into the back catalogue and honor London with special and unique versions of these tracks. And now...we can share it with my fans around the world."

    Whatever Will Happen

I was walking to the post office a few months ago when I saw 5 unkempt
figures heading my way. As they got closer, I recognized these guys. They had
played at our gallery last month, fogged the windows up good. Captivated the
crowd with their impossibly balanced creation of modern and classic, a blend of
Steely Dan cool and General Public pop, Squeezish hooks and Aztec Camera
guitar flair. It was like a crash course in 60s pop, 70s avant-garde, 80s new wave
and 90s popkid charm, with that unmistakable Puget Sound flavor. They were iji.

Iji's a band projecting their own brand of pop, nudging the genre into the
comfort zone of a punk community, embracing a desire for rack-a-chack, ethereal
and naivist sounds often unexplored by contemporaries.

Back on the sidewalk, I asked them what they were doing back in town.
Apparently after the Team Love show the band had decided to go night swimming.
Oblivious to the magical, secluded moonlit respite where the river bends wide or
the lake meets the shallow cliff, iji wound up breaking into the local community
pool, immediately getting arrested by the local community cops, and spending the
night in the local community clink.    Now, rather than being out on tour in some
distant state or country spreading their transcendental party music, they had routed
themselves back up Hudson Valley way to appear in court and find that their
punishment was, essentially, all the cash in their merch box. A bummer; quickly
diverted by throwing together a few last minute shows and cruising on.

Shortly after this chance encounter Quarterbacks Dean came by the shop
and said he had heard the new iji album and did I want to give it a listen. I said
something like, fuck yeah, and that was that.

Zach Burba, the founder of iji, is what you might call a lifer. Iji is always
in a state of 'to be continued,' in the way that a journeyman is always and
perpetually transitioning into the master. They've put out numerous albums, singles,
cassettes, and splits over the past 10 years; toured coast to coast playing DIY
venues and houses where restrictions don't apply. This type of DIY pop is a
lifestyle; it's Kokopelli roaming the countryside sharing a song in exchange for a
roof and a bowl of soup.

On Whatever Will Happen, iji has whipped a notebook full of travel
poems into a full-length American Experimental Highway Pop Opus. The band's
eleventh or twelfth album is the first one recorded at Anacortes, Washington's The
Unknown Music Studio with a solid line-up, the Seattle underground music scene's
best players. Jake Jones and Curran Foster from Sick Sad World, Will Murdoch
from Pill Wonder, Evan Easthope from Neighbors, Erin Birgy of Mega Bog, plus a
handful of jazz horn players and inspired back-up singers. Whatever Will Happen
speeds past quiet beaches with soft-rock wind in the hair, through mountain passes
with windows-down-power-pop, into seedy cities with free-jazz flavor and shameless
    disco grooves.

The next time iji come to town, I'm going to take them up to the ridge and
show them a real swimming hole, something that's locals-only and worthy of their
greatness. And with that said, let's wrap this up by stating that Team Love is proud
to announce the release of Whatever Will Happen.

    Every Now & Then

Jagwar Ma returns with their second album Every Now & Then.

The Sydney-formed band came together for sessions across a handful of studios and locations in Australia, the UK, and France to shake up an altogether inspired new offering. Full of spirit and exploding with the energy of new ideas, Every Now & Then is formed from the building blocks of a myriad of sonic touchstones upon which Jono Ma and Gabriel Winterfield concoct a heady, uplifting brew that very much owns it's own space on the spectrum.

Singer/guitarist Gabriel Winterfield and multi-instrumentalist Jono Ma originally joined forces at the turn of the decade, having reached an impasse with their previous bands. Liberated, they instantly felt their horizons opening up, culminating in the kaleidoscopic dub-pop of Jagwar Ma's 2013 debut album Howlin. Augmented by their old Sydney friend Jack Freeman on bass and backing vocals they set about creating their own infectious groove with their increasingly powerful live show.

After almost three years of touring the world (including tours with Foals, The xx, and Tame Impala) the band returned to Australia to write and begin recording at Sonar studios in Sydney. With the basis of the album written, the band headed back to La Briche near Tours in rural France, where they had recorded their debut in a self-built studio on a friend's partly-renovated farm, before returning to London to record drum sessions with Warpaint's Stella Mozgawa and James Ford and finishing mixing with old friend Ewan Pearson in their new shared Tottenham studio The Bunker II.

Jono is a student of the studio in the Jagwar Ma camp, and on Every Now & Then his production hand constructs the richly singular sonic world each track inhabits. The record is littered with surprising selections yet maintains an ebb and flow that echoes that of a day in coastal Australia. 'Repetition invites participation' and the composition of Every Now & Then is a testament to the turn of phrase, subtly seducing with loose-limbed sinewy grooves on loop.

Entrancing incantations on romantic love, truth and courage come courtesy of co-songwriter and lead vocalist Gabriel. Lush melody from left field, grungey phrasing and pagan shapes, Winterfield flows in tandem with each song's unique sea of sound. "Can we be real?"

Classic bass lines, jangly guitar parts and Paul's Boutique-inspired loops bounce off elements of synth-pop and encounter bass heavy experiments redolent of Blanck Mass and other elements of the Norwegian electronic onslaught together with swelling psychedelic choruses, reminiscent of summer-kissed Ocean Rain-period Bunnymen, exploding into melodic, sun-soaked wig-outs.

At heart, a studio album, designed for lone listening on headphones but as a shared experience is where it will really come to life. Their live appearances for Howlin' were electric and key elements of Every Now & Then took on extra shape while touring Europe with fellow compatriots Tame Impala, successfully working out the structure of tracks in front of arena crowds.

Every Now & Then deftly covers a broad expanse of sound and mood. Say What You Feel gradually envelopes with its tireless drive and shapeshifting form to an ecstatic peak before Loose Ends cools down the pace with dubbed, fractured melodies. Give Me A Reason flips from muted funk pop to percolating, percussive house before seamlessly transitioning into a gyrating, teched up club tool. The glorious dynamism continues with Ordinary's quantum leap chorus, while High Rotation possesses a sinister spirit, a chuggy druggy groove and compelling, cultish chanting. Colour Of Paradise closes out the record, a bittersweet beauty of surf melodies and euphoric synths - 'searching through every grain of sand', lifting off and leaving the earthly territory behind completely for a deeper, more celestial, spacey place.

From underwater liquid rhythm through to joyous, floating in the clouds sky highs, Every Now & Then is Jagwar Ma's cathartic new injection we endeavor you to dose up on.
