Hoist (stylized as (Hoist)) is the fifth official studio album by the American rock band Phish, originally released in 1994. At the time of its release, Hoist was Phish's best selling album to date, peaking at #34 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

The band suggested a few ideas for the album's title before finally settling on Hoist; one of the alternative suggestions was Hung Like a Horse. The band ruled this out, but decided to keep the visual joke intact for the album's cover. The horse is also a reference to The Horse, the only song not visually depicted on the cover of Rift, the band's previous album.

Hoist features guest appearances from Alison Krauss, BÉla Fleck and a host of other musicians, as well as actor Jonathan Frakes on trombone. With its jazz, blues, soul and bluegrass influences, the album is marked by more stripped-down, straightforward songwriting and pop-friendly hooks, a somewhat new approach for Phish.

However, the album's final track, Demand, segues into an extended instrumental excerpt from the April 21, 1993, live performance of the song Split Open and Melt, followed by the first verse and refrain of the Hebrew song Yerushalayim Shel Zahav (Jerusalem of Gold).

Riker's Mailbox is a brief interlude track on the album, and the only song on the album to have never been performed live by the band. Album producer Paul Fox lived next to Jonathan Frakes, whose mailbox is apparently uniquely decorated. Frakes, who played Commander Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation, sat in for a while during the Hoist sessions, giving his name to the track.

Hoist was certified gold by the RIAA in August of 1996.

Ranked 407/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Mastered by Doug Sax using an all-tube system. Overseen by Bruce Botnick, The Doors producer/engineer.

Two 45 rpm LPs pressed on 200-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings

Part of The Doors reissue series proudly presented by Analogue Productions and Quality Record Pressings!

Analogue Productions presents all six of the Doors studio titles on 200g 45RPM 2LP pressed at Quality Record Pressings as well as The Doors, Strange Days, Waiting For The Sun and L.A. Woman on Hybrid multi-channel SACD, all cut from the original analog masters by Doug Stax, with the exception being The Doors which was made from the best tape copy available.

Sax and the Doors producer/engineer Bruce Botnick have gone through a meticulous setup to guarantee a positively stunning reissue series. These masters were recorded on all-tube equipment, and the tape machine used for the transfer of these releases is also a tube machine, as is the cutting system.

Although most of the material for their 1967 sophomore album was written around the same time as their debut which was released earlier in the same year, the songs on the genre-bending Strange Days still manage to possess their own distinct and foreboding character. The equally as impressive follow-up yielded the touchstone hits "Love Me Two Times" and "People Are Strange" as well as the the fan favorites "Moonlight Drive," "Strange Days" and "When The Music's Over." Here on 200g 45RPM 2LP.

    Feel The Sound

The fifth album by Imperial Teen, Feel the Sound, succeeds completely at its goal, plainly stated in the collections title. From the exhilarating, propulsive Runaway, which features the entire band on lead vocals, to the expansive final statement of Overtaken, Roddy Bottum, Lynn Perko Truell, Will Schwartz, and Jone Stebbins feel the sound themselves and, in turn, make the listener feel it in ways immediate, pleasurable, and haunting.

ELO-like symphonic pop has become a touchstone for everyone from Justice to Cut Copy in recent years, but Feel the Sound makes it manifest through live instrumentation that possesses a Krautrock level of intuitive synchronicity and a desert island jukeboxs sense of fun.

So many bands lose momentum and focus over time, but a little past its sweet sixteenth year of existence, Imperial Teen somehow grows both younger and wiser, connecting four characters through creative friendship and deep trust, and forging a communal power that continues to grow stronger. Crime Cutz

The new EP Crime Cutz is the first new original Holy Ghost! music since the NYC-based duo of Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel released their sophomore album 2013's Dynamics.

As with most of their catalog, Crime Cutz benefits from Holy Ghost!'s insistence on tactile instrumentation with live drums recorded over the track to accelerate its tempo. The duo are quite methodical in their output--shimmering bursts of disco, synth-pop, and lingering grooves--but that doesn't mean Holy Ghost! is not prodigious.

Over nearly a decade, they have gone from being DFA's rising sons to triple threats: indefatigable DJs, producers remixing new life into the work of Cut Copy and Katy Perry alike, and inventive musicians who've released countless original singles. They're again adding to their thinking-man's dance repertoire with the vibrant Crime Cutz EP out on DFA Records.

    Dunes

Over the past three years, the Santa Barbarian comrades that make up Gardens &Villa -Chris Lynch,Adam
Rasmussen, Levi Hayden, Shane McKillop, and Dusty Ineman - went from playing local bills to being
veterans of the road. After releasing their self-titled debut on Secretly Canadian in 2011, they pushed their
van's odometer into the six-digit range, zigzagging North America and Europe with over 350 shows in just 2
years. Gardens & Villa emerged a wiser, crystallized version of themselves.

Those experiences planted the seeds for the band's new batch of cohesive, personal, and beautifully layered
pop songs - homegrown in the confines of the band's beach side practice space. When it came time to
record, they searched out acclaimed producer Tim Goldsworthy (Cut Copy, DFA Records, LCD
Soundsystem, Hercules & Love Affair) and these five surf-town natives found themselves traveling to the
unlikely locale of Benton Harbor, MI (pop. 10,040) in January. There they landed at the Key Club, located
deep in the recesses of a converted locksmith's building where they would record what would become their
    second full-length, Dunes.

Gardens &Villa burrowed into the Key Club's retro-themed studio and living space, only leaving the facility
five times over the next month. The disconnect between Santa Barbara's familiar sunny beaches and
Michigan's snow-covered lake shore led to the group's creative unraveling in the studio. The band lost track
of the hours, days, and weeks as blinking analog machines captured the intense journey. In the process,
Dunes was poured through Sly Stone's original custom-built Flickinger recording console.

With just a week left before deadline, Gardens & Villa sought a brief refuge from the studio where their
progress had stalled. They went on a trip, traversing winding roads past frozen tundra and barren trees and
into the wilderness of the nearby state park's tall dunes. The group climbed to the top and collapsed into a
combination of sand and snow.Simultaneously reminded of home as well as their distance from it,their jaws
dropped as they turned to see Lake Michigan's majestic and surreal expanse stretching toward the horizon.

Supported by Goldsworthy's guidance, the band went back to the studio and ultimately emerged with a
record beaming with dystopian energy, subconscious lyrics, and uncompromising sincerity. Lynch has
seamlessly integrated his bansuri flutes and Rasmussen has fleshed out his looming synths alongside shades
of '80s cult films soundscapes that lurk just underneath the songs in an unnoticeable-yet-omnipresent
fashion.Like the awe-inspiring clarity of sitting atop Michigan's dunes, the band's forthcoming record shares
a clear and evocative vision of where Gardens & Villa's members have traveled, what they've learned, and
    what lies ahead.

Mastered From the Original Master Tapes by Bernie Grundman

With his brother Branford (who doubles here on tenor and soprano) often closely emulating Wayne Shorter, and the rhythm section (pianist Kenny Kirkland, bassist Charnett Moffett, and drummer Jeff Watts) sounding a bit like the famous Herbie Hancock-Ron Carter-Tony Williams trio, Wynton is heard at the head of what was essentially an updated version of the mid- to late-'60s Miles Davis Quintet. The music is brilliantly played and displays what the "Young Lions" movement was really about: young musicians choosing to explore acoustic jazz and to extend the innovations of the pre-fusion modern mainstream style.

    Back Stabbers

180-Gram Black Vinyl Edition Limited to 700 Copies

    Lacquer Cutting By Kevin Gray

    Original Album Art

Deemed by many the pinnacle of the Philly Sound as perfected by legendary producers Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, 1972's Back Stabbers scored no less than two Top Five Pop and three Top Five R&B smashes with the songs Love Train, Time to Get Down, and the title tune (plus another Top 20 R&B hit with 992 Arguments). But it's more than the hits that make this album a soul classic; honed by a decade of woodshedding, the vocal arrangements of O'Jays Eddie Levert, William Powell and Walter Williams are simply sublime, and, when married to Gamble & Huff's polished backing tracks, they render such album tracks as (They Call Me) Mr. Lucky and Who Am I every bit as potent as the better-known songs. In short, Back Stabbers is a masterpiece through and through, one that brought both the O'Jays and Gamble and Huff to national attention, but it's never been reissued on vinyl in the modern era. With lacquer cutting by Kevin Gray, Real Gone Music's limited (to 700 copies)180-gram black vinyl edition just might sound better than the original pressing, and includes the original artwork.

"It's a deeper and a more complete record than we've ever done before," says
songwriter/guitarist Michael Timmins. "These songs are about reckoning on a
personal level and reckoning on a political level."

In 1988, Cowboy Junkies proved that there was an audience waiting for something quiet,
beautiful and reflective. Their now classic album, The Trinity Session, was like a whisper
that cut through the noise and sold more than a million copies.

For more than 30 years, Cowboy Junkies have remained true to their unique vision,
creating a critically acclaimed body of work that has endeared them to an audience
    unwavering in its loyalty.

With their new album, All That Reckoning, the band once again gently shakes the listener
to wake up. Whether commenting on the fragile state of the world or on personal
relationships, this new collection may be the most powerful album Cowboy Junkies have

Remastered and cut at 33 1/3 RPM by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound

Lacquers plated by Gary Salstrom and pressed on 200-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings!

This 1958 3-track recording has Heifetz teamed up with Munch and the Boston Symphony. Cutting the lacquer directly from the original session master tapes has increased the transparency and 3-dimensional imaging on this reissue over original pressings. The performance, as always with the last century's top violinist, is almost without compare. If you have an original copy (white or shaded) you'll be shocked - this reissue has diaphonously beautiful string tone, superior low end dynamics and very deep bass.

    Reggae Bloodlines

After being signed by Island Records in 1978 from Ian and Roger Lewis of the Inner Circle band, the 'Reggae Bloodlines' LP was swiftly scheduled for
release, yet for reasons lost in the mists of time, it never saw issue. Comprising a selection of hits and previously unreleased tracks from the sibling's Top
Ranking label, the album features some of the biggest names of the seventies, notably Augustus Pablo, Jacob Miller & the Inner Circle, Ras Michael,
Trinity and of course, Althea & Donna, who perform their original cut of their chart-topper, 'Uptown Top Ranking'. Now, after a wait of some 36 years, the
masters for this lost classic have finally been discovered hidden deep in Island's vaults, with their rescue resulting in its long overdue release outside
Jamaica, so providing Reggae fans around the globe the opportunity to finally own a vinyl copy of one of the most elusive and sought-after LPs of the

Bay area post-shoegaze sextet, Whirr, generates expressive songs of cutting guitar textures, backed by misty vocals. Their full-length debut Pipe Dreams dropped via TeePee Records in March of 2012. Distresser is a reissue of their debut EP, originally released in mid-2011 as a 500 copy vinyl only run in the U.K.

Whirr's spirit rejuvenates the '90s shoegaze sound, providing a widescreen update for the post-millennial era. A wall of lush guitars, breathy vocals, dreamy synths and thunderous drumming send the listener to a picturesque realm. Instantly catchy melodies and emotional, enveloping atmospheres hang fully in the balance. The sound of Whirr here is a total crush from start to finish where texture, bright pop melodies and dense guitar noise fuse perfectly.

Flugelhornist Art Farmer and guitarist Jim Hall had a
regular group for a time in the mid-'60s but (except
for one occasion) had not played together since, until
this 1978 LP. This is an unusual effort for CTI in that
it is a quintet set without added horns, strings or
keyboards. Farmer and Hall are joined by vibraphonist
Mike Mainieri, bassist Michael Moore and drummer
Steve Gadd for two standards, the title cut and a jazz
adaptation of a piece by Ravel. Since Farmer and Hall
have long had very complementary styles (both being
lyrical, harmonically advanced and thoughtful in their
improvisations), it is little surprise that this set is a
    complete success.

Now this classic recording gets ORG Music's
audiophile treatment with this 180gram double LP
45RPM reissue, mastered from original analog tapes
by Bernie Grundman and pressed at Pallas Group in

Two 45 rpm LPs pressed on 200-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings

Part of The Doors reissue series proudly presented by Analogue Productions and Quality Record Pressings!

The Doors self-titled 1967 release famously contains some incorrect speed and pitch issues. While there have been "corrected" versions made, in the interests of being historically accurate, this Analogue Productions reissue was cut without speed or pitch correction.

Already Platinum. Impeccable design. Although this is one of the more talked about records of his career, there's no doubt that this is a testament to JAY Z's diligence, entrepreneurship, and artistic vision. Picking up where Watch The Throne left off, Magna Carta Holy Grail is JAY Z's twelfth studio album, and a portrait of an emcee embracing fatherhood, marriage, and striking a balance between a past spent coming up and a future shuffling around the top. The LP also includes a limited edition flexi-disc postcard of exclusive non-album track ''Open Letter'' hidden under the artwork on the back cover. Production is helmed largely by J-Roc, Timbaland, Pharrell Williams, Hit-Boy and others, while featuring performances by BeyoncÉ, Rick Ross, Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean, Nas, and more. With MCHG, JAY Z understands that hip hop is starting to enjoy the same clout as fine art and, even better, hip hop is alive, a part of the world, evolving, and not cordoned off in a museum. Play it forward and grab a copy now.

    Samaris

Samaris' debut, Samaris, is a combination of their two EPs previously released in Iceland, plus a few remixes. The EPs sold out faster than you can spell 'Reykjavik' - they were so popular, that it's becoming increasingly hard to track down a copy with every passing day. Fortunately we can experience them in the form of their premiere LP.

'Góða Tungl' is phenomenal. With finger-snap snares and lollygagging bass, it's a rhythmic tour de force. Timebomb-tick hi-hats penetrate the top end of the sound and cleansing kick drum permeates the lower end. Ákadóttir's buoyant folk-tinged vocals float through the music, gasping for air and sighing in agony amongst the indecipherable language; clarinet and pitch-shifted vox harmonies provide extra dimensions. It's a viral belter brimming with icy shards of electronica, soft shades of folk and the rickety beats of ambient trip-hop.

'Stofnar Falla' is darker. It's a brooding, sinister sliver of synth-based neo-classical music. Steinþórsson unleashes a mysterious backdrop for woodwind and dulcet tones to converse; as the noises ware on, the cut becomes increasingly anxious, paranoid even. 'Vöggu Dub' follows on swiftly. It's far choppier: keys wax and wane, sampled vocals burst periodically and there are wobs of rumbling bass.

Samaris are pushing boundaries. The trio are experimenting with styles and dabbling in many areas of avante-garde audio to extraordinary effect: they may only be wee whippersnappers, but this burgeoning threesome are crafting music far beyond their years, and more successfully than the majority of UK acts who've received uproarious fanfare this year. The forthcoming record may be a collection of already-heard tracks, but it's still probably the best thing you'll hear until autumn. Why autumn, you ask? Well, that's when their next record comes out.

Gerry Mulligan Meets Ben Webster (200 Gram)

Classic 1959 Session By Two Jazz Giants!

200-Gram Vinyl Pressing By Quality Record Pressings!

Mastered By Ryan K. Smith At Sterling Sound From The Original Analog Tapes

Sleeved In A Deluxe Tip-On Jacket From Stoughton Printing

Gerry Mulligan Meets Ben Webster was just one of may meets albums that Gerry Mulligan appeared on during the period when this classic was recorded - Nov. 3 and Dec. 2, 1959, in Los Angeles. Mulligan and Pepper Adams were the baritone saxophonists during the golden age of modern jazz, both masters of the unwieldy and deep-toned instrument.

History was made here, as was a classic record for the ages. Now, hear Gerry Mulligan Meets Ben Webster in all its sonic glory, courtesy of Analogue Productions and Quality Record Pressings! Mastered and cut to lacquer by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound, working from the original analog tapes, this 33 1/3 edition sounds spectacular, pressed on super-silent 200-gram vinyl by Gary Salstrom and his crew at Quality Record Pressings. Nothing but the best packaging is allowed here either - you'll get a handsome heavyweight tip-on jacket from Stoughton Printing.

Mulligan was an innovator of the west coast cool jazz style who flourished playing with all manner of jazz musicians. The tunes he and Webster recorded are smooth, lush and emotional, driven along by a rhythm section that swings with just the right amount of bop. The result is an album that's included among NPR's Basic Jazz Record Library.

Let this silky and supple set make its presence known - order your copy of Gerry Mulligan Meets Ben Webster today, and prepare to be enveloped by the sound.

From Elvis in Memphis (Speakers Corner)

Ranked 190/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

A record by Elvis, produced in Tennessee. What's so special about that? Surely everyone knows that the lorry driver from the Southern State sobbed his early songs into the local radio microphones. But Elvis in Memphis is far more than just one of around 40 albums which the King of Rock' n' Roll produced during the course of 35 years. »This marks what is probably the most impressive comeback in the entire history of pop music«, enthused the normally reticent New York Times.

What had happened? In 1969, after a 14-year meteoric career in show business and movies, and an exemplary PR campaign, Elvis returned to his hometown to record these songs which, in their style, are reminiscent of those recorded in the Fifties for Sun Records. Alongside the lavishly mixed pop and blues numbers (Power Of My Love) and country sound (I'm Movin' On), there is also one of the greatest chart-busters and heart-breakers of a whole generation: In The Ghetto.

There is certainly no room for discussion about the value of this collectors' item - the astronomical price for a good secondhand copy speaks for itself!

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    Super Session (Speakers Corner)

The musicians are aiming high with their desire for a "Super Session", for it's not something that can be planned. Only when the time, place, and audience play along, when one's lucky star is shining brightly, and the musicians have a good day, then one of music's great moments might be captured on tape. Not forgetting the recording technicians who also have to be in the mood!

In 1968 this all happened to be the case with the majority of the nine numbers on the Columbia LP: Season Of The Witch (written by Donovan) in its present version is one of them, as well as You Don't Love Me and the Dylan classic It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry. All in all, one must consider the numbers with Steve Stills as most successful in the sense of a session because here each musician inspires the others. In the super session with Kooper and Bloomfield, the guitarist stands in the limelight while the other musicians back him up.

Very often the three soloists even surpass the greatest moments of their own groups (Al Kooper's Blood, Sweat & Tears; Mike Bloomfield's Electric Flag; Steven Stills's Buffalo Springfield). In 1968 the magazine Rolling Stone judged this album to be one of the best releases of the year: an accolade which is completely justified and is still valid to this day. What better reason to get your copy of this "highly recommended" album without delay.

    Welcome (Speakers Corner)

Many of Santana's rock-addict fans could well have understood the inviting word Welcome on the white LP cover as an attempt to break away from the spiritual aura of his previous album Love Devotion Surrender. And the musicians certainly managed to produce a rich Latin feeling, with such titles as Samba De Sausalito and Yours Is The Light. But luckily their concessions did not alienate them from their die-hard fans in that they came up with a sort of copy of the rhythmical Caravanserai. They truly attempted something new. Encouraged by the success of the jazz-fusion formula created by Miles Davis and his disciples, Santana combined his virtuoso guitar playing with specially chosen electronic features. The amazingly acrobatic jazz vocalists Leon Thomas and Wendy Haas contributed complicated, quirky parts and the maestro himself vies with John McLaughlin in a dense conflict carried out on their instruments in Flame Sky. This is an album with a strong intellectual drive and offers the discerning listener a dazzling blend of Latin, jazz and fusion.

Orff: Carmina Burana (Speakers Corner) (Awaiting Repress)

Sung by world renowned soloists and conducted by the legendary Eugen Jochum, this recording of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana was authorised by the composer himself. It follows, therefore, that the present recording met with the high requirements of the composer himself and so represents an unusual collector's item. Orff intended not just to copy the medieval lyrics but to express the mood of that era. His highly rhythmic compositional style reflects the archaic character of the vocal line. The listener experiences not only the vital primordial pulse of the music in this thrilling interpretation but also the mystery of Fate through the tender lyrical passages.

Orff's homage to wine, women and song of the Middle Ages, closely bound up with spring and love, is supported by balanced and precise sound technology. The listener is spirited away to the musical world of Carmina Burana by this recording.
