Remastered From The Original Analogue Master Tapes And Cut At Capitol Studios To Ensure Exceptional Audio Quality Throughout

    Pressed On 180-Gram Vinyl

Released in December 1974, Dark Horse capped a prolific year for George, during which he had established his own Dark Horse record label, built a recording studio in his Friar Park home in England, and completed an ambitious tour of North America. Throughout the year, Harrison produced albums for several artists while also recording his own. The songs on the LP document both George's fallibility, in 'Simply Shady,' and his spirituality, in 'It Is 'He' (Jai Sri Krishna).' Dark Horse reached the top five in America, sounding a high note at the end of Harrison's rather frenetic year.

    Dark Horse

An atypical country artist, Devin Dawson's approach to music is not different on purpose, it's different with purpose. He grew up just outside the gates of Folsom Prison, drawing inspiration from Johnny Cash,Alan Jackson,Marvin Gaye and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Pulling from these influences, he began to write in a style that is definitively country. Dawson's lyrics full of romance and vulnerability, delivered with a distinctive saw-toothed vocal, draw you in from the first verse and keep you hooked until the very last chord.

Since the release of his debut single All On Me earlier this year, the California-native has already made his TV debut on Late Night with Seth Meyers, landed multiple Grand Ole Opry performances, and received critical praise from a multitude of outlets including. His unique mix of organic roots and high-voltage country is showcased masterfully on his forthcoming debut Dark Horse, produced by the daring Jay Joyce(Eric Church,Little Big Town,Brothers Osborne). With a co-write credit on every track, the result will further establish Dawson's building reputation as a dark horse set to emerge as one of the most exciting modern storytellers the format has ever seen.

Love Rides A Dark Horse breaks new ground for Gill Landry with contributions from fiddler Ross Holmes (Mumford

harmonies by Klara Soderberg (First Aid Kit), Karen Elson and Odessa. Landry's own vocals are front and center

The Besnard Lakes Are The Dark Horse

Rich with Beach Boys style harmonies, Roy Orbison reverbs and orchestra, Pink Floyd's pacing and Freddie Mercury's falsetto, the second record by Montreal's Besnard Lakes is a luxurious foray into sound and music. They're masters of finely-honed experimental pop songs that invoke the eerie Lynchian setting as aided and abetted by the music of Julee Cruise, but on this record, the band throws into the mix a mad dash of Fleetwood Mac proportioned swagger and ambition.

In late 1974, George returned to California to record his next album, the soul-tinged Extra Texture (Read All About It), his final album to be released through Apple Records. Leon Russell played piano on 'Tired Of Midnight Blue,' and for some of the sessions, Harrison was joined by guitarist Jesse Ed Davis, plus Jim Keltner, Paul Stallworth, and David Foster from new band Attitudes, who were later signed by George's newly formed Dark Horse label. Two of the LP's songs date from 1974 sessions for Dark Horse at George's home studio: the soulful love song 'Can't Stop Thinking About You' and the backing track of 'His Name Is 'Legs' (Ladies & Gentlemen).'

Gone Troppo, issued on Dark Horse Records in November 1982, would prove to be Harrison s last studio album for five years, during which he largely took an extended hiatus from his recording career. The album title, Gone Troppo, was an Australian slang expression meaning 'gone mad/crazy' and also a reference to the Italian term 'non troppo', used in tempo markings and meaning 'not too much'. Billboard said of Gone Troppo: 'Harrison's sunny lyricism shines brightest when least encumbered by self-consciousness, and here that equation yields a breezy, deceptively eclectic charmer.'

    Upper Air

The follow-up to 2007's acclaimed Hymns For A Dark Horse. Upper Air moves away from the singular sound and sentiment; each song is a unique, beautiful piece. The arrangements are subtle: acoustic guitars, organ, piano, autoharp, violin, percussion, upright bass, and more are used throughout. This music has the spirit of Richard and Linda Thompson, the currency of Devendra Banhart, and the addictively sweet melodicism of Iron & Wine, but it churns with an underlying energy closer to a Beirut or something more raw, more wild.

Thirty Three & 1/3 is the seventh studio album by English musician George Harrison, released in November 1976. It was the first album release on his Dark Horse record label. Harrison recorded Thirty Three & 1/3 at his Friar Park home studio, with production assistance from Tom Scott. Other musicians on the recording include Billy Preston, Gary Wright, Willie Weeks, David Foster and Alvin Taylor. The title for the new album reflected his age at the time of recording, as well as the speed at which the vinyl LP would play on a turntable. Rolling Stone described the album at the time as Harrison's 'strongest collection since his solo debut.'

The album also features 'Here Comes the Moon', the lyrical successor to his 1969 composition 'Here Comes the Sun'. Harrison co-produced the record with Russ Titelman at his studio, FPSHOT, in Oxfordshire. Amongst others, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood would make guest appearances. Issued on Dark Horse Records.

I've Got My Own Album To Do

I've Got My Own Album To Do is the first solo album by Ron Wood, released in September 1974. An all-star project recorded outside of his activities with the Faces. Wood has said that the album title originated from contributors such as George Harrison and Mick Jagger nagging me to let them go home and finish their own projects.

During this period, Wood assisted Jagger in writing and recording the Rolling Stones' 1974 single It's Only Rock 'n Roll, while Jagger reciprocated by helping Wood with this album's opening track, I Can Feel the Fire. Keith Richards was another participant at the sessions, in addition to performing concerts in London with Wood to promote the release.

Wood's collaboration with Harrison, Far East Man, was re-recorded by Harrison and appeared on the former Beatle's Dark Horse album three months after the release of I've Got My Own Album To Do. Other musicians on the record include Rod Stewart, fellow Faces Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones, Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones, and the all-American rhythm section of Willie Weeks and Andy Newmark.

The Complete, Remastered Score Available On Vinyl For The First Time

Waxwork Records is thrilled to announce the double LP soundtrack release of SALEM'S LOT. Directed by TOBE HOOPER (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Poltergeist) and adapted from the novel by STEPHEN KING, SALEM'S LOT originally aired as a two-part miniseries on CBS in 1979. Since then, the film has reached cult classic status and is regarded as one of the greatest vampire films ever made thanks to its creepy atmosphere, gripping story-line, and chilling climax.

Waxwork Records presents, for the first time ever on vinyl, the complete, re-mastered score of SALEM'S LOT. Featuring all 84 musical cues from the film, this two-record set clocks in at over one hour of atmospheric, old-fashioned horror film music. Composed and conducted HARRY SUKMAN, the classic score to SALEM'S LOT was his final work before his death in 1984. Waxwork has commissioned art from FRANCESCO FRANCAVILLA (Afterlife with Archie, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Dark Horse Comics) for the entire LP package.

    Tonight's The Night

By 1975 Young had written some of the most enduring anthems in rock history. But from the slow, tension-building piano opening of Tonight's the Night, he downshifts into darkness and Crazy Horse's folk-country melodies take on a guttural hum that would eventually speak to generations of punk and grunge musicians.

Inspired by the overdose deaths of two of Young's friends, roadie Bruce Berry and guitarist Danny Whitten, the title track (and its closing reprise) is a hypnotic cry of why? Even the relative party songs, Come On Baby Let's Go Downtown and Roll Another Number, fit the album's bus-to-nowhere resignation. -Steve Knopper

    Highway Queen

Nikki Lane's remarkably dazzling third album,
    Highway Queen, sees the
young Nashville rebel emerge as one of country and
rock's most gifted songwriters. Produced by Lane
and fellow singer-songwriter Jonathan Tyler, and
recorded in Denton, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee,
Highway Queen is an emotional tour-de-force.
Blending potent lyrics, unbridled blues guitars and
vintage Sixties country-pop swagger, Lane's new music
will resonate as easily with Black Keys and Lana
Del Rey fans as those of Neil Young and Tom Petty.

Highway Queen starts with the whiskey-soaked
restlessness of "700,000 Rednecks," a rowdy call to
action, and ends on the profoundly raw "Forever
Lasts Forever," where Lane belts freely, mourning
a failed marriage - the "lighter shade of skin" left
behind from her wedding ring. Lane's journey to
heartbreak takes exquisite turns. "Companion" is
pure Everly Brothers' dreaminess ("I would spend a
lifetime/ Playing catch you if I can"). Elsewhere, she
goes on a Vegas bender on the rollicking "Jackpot,"
fights last-call blues ("Foolish Heart") and tosses
off brazen one-liners at a backroom piano ("Big
    Mouth").

Lane, a Greenville, South Carolina native, is a unique
songwriter who didn't take the traditional country
artist path. Her backwoods roots are undercut by
her chosen career as a fashion entrepreneur (she's
the owner of vintage clothing boutique High Class
Hillbilly) who has lived - and been heartbroken
in - Los Angeles, New York and Nashville. So it's no
surprise that her music seamlessly crosses musical
genres with lyrics steeped in the doomed perseverance
only a true dark horse romantic knows.

Lane's rapid rise in music is thanks to the fervent critical
acclaim of her debut record Walk of Shame
and 2014's Dan Auerbach-produced All Or
Nothin'. With Highway Queen, 2017 is poised
to be Lane's major mainstream breakthrough. So as
she sings on the title track: place your bets, if you
    ain't folding.

In February of 2009 Ladyfinger released their sophomore effort Dusk. The album bridged three decades of influence, mixing early 70's classic rock with punk and hardcore of the late 80's and early 90's. This unique fusion gained them praise (Pitchfork called Dusk's lead single 'Little Things' "all power and momentum and baldface 70's classic-rock glory") and a pack of new fans.

After a brief time away and a lineup change, Ladyfinger (ne) began playing shows on and off in early 2010. The shows went well and by the summer of 2011 the band was revisiting unfinished songs from the Dusk sessions and writing new tracks. In May of 2012 the band found itself at ARC studios in Omaha once again recording with their longtime producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Minus the Bear, Isis).

Upon listening to the ten songs found on Errant Forms it's clear that the music was indeed there. Their signature mix of classic rock bombast and punk grit is back on display here in standout tracks "Galactic" and "Poison For Hire", while "Birds" paints an ominous vision of atonement over subtle guitars that slowly build until absolution is realized with the pounding drums and organ that emerge at the song's climax. Lead single "Dark Horse" is an ode to escapism that stands out for being as solemn as it is anthemic. Chiaroscuro

I BREAK HORSES is the musical project led by Maria LindÉn. From her
Stockholm base, the Swedish artist delivered an extraordinary debut album
in the shape of Hearts, released by Bella Union in August 2011. Forward
two years, and the arrival of an eagerly awaited follow-up, entitled Chiaroscuro, is upon us. The latest chapter in I Break Horses' much celebrated
songbook is everything fans could wish for and more. In the words of
LindÉn: My only aim when starting to write this album was to ignore any
possible second album expectations. The result is a more confident and
evolved sound with a more dramatic expression.

The title of Chiaroscuro - meaning light-dark - serves as the perfect
embodiment of LindÉn's sonic creations, where an atmosphere and mood is
created that evokes innermost feelings and thoughts residing beyond the
surface reality of the material world. Affecting ballads such as 'Heart To
Know' and 'You Burn' are wrapped in fragile beauty. 'Denial' and 'Medicine
Brush' are sublime synth-pop odysseys whose pulses guide you to new
horizons. 'Faith' is a dance anthem complete with hypnotic beats, swirling
synths and the mesmerising looped vocals of LindÉn. I let myself write
both the happiest songs but also the saddest, and then I put them
together, states LindÉn. This arrangement of light and dark forms the
    essence of Chiaroscuro.

'Ascension' is rooted in a gorgeous 80s synth-pop sound, where LindÉn's
vocals melt into the lush sonic tapestry. The song deals with love and
forgiveness. An irresistible groove lies at the heart of 'Disclosure' where a
divine purity is distilled in the intricate array of instrumentation. 'You Burn' is
perhaps the album's centrepiece, as well as being the opening track, where
a brooding darkness envelops the surrounding human space. The delicate
piano chords drift magnificently amidst Linden's searching lyrics. I Break
Horses are one of those rare bands capable of conjuring up raw emotion
through a sound that is ultimately something life-affirming.

    Glider

Beautiful post-folk ballads a thing of tremendous sonic depth one of the year's best debuts BOOMKAT

A bold and beautiful album CYCLYC DEFROST

    haunting and atmospheric. THE 405

...compelling...it never dissolves after the first listen instead it only acquires new layers, new musical textures. THE GUARDIAN

It's a ravishing, terrific, gorgeous album-the rare kind that throws its listeners into reverie. PORTLAND MERCURY

Heather Woods Broderick excels at distilling her experiences into a soulful melancholy
that's enduring both for it's intimate relatable moments and its persistent
sense of mystery. Her uncanny ear for evocative production and gorgeous vocal
harmonies serves her well on her new album Glider. Throughout the album, the rich
dreamlike atmospheres she creates hint at a darkness looming on the horizon, while
the singularity of her ethereal voice always seems to linger long after the music has
    stopped.

As a talented multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Heather has had the opportunity to
record and tour with plenty of incredible artists including Horse Feathers, Efterklang,
and Sharon Van Etten, which has kept her moving house and traveling around
the world for much of the past decade. She's currently living in Portland, Oregon,
but it's easy to imagine how her peripatetic lifestyle might diminish her sense of a
place to call home, while also strengthening her resilience, and her connection to
the reassuring constants in her life. As she explains Living in so many different
places has made me able to feel pretty comfortable everywhere. Her uncommon
sense of ease and grace, despite her hectic life, stems in part from her deeply
rooted and intertwined musical and familial background.

Music took root in Heather's life before she was even born, when her parents, both
musicians, met for the first time at one of her mom's gigs, which her dad was
attending. The two married and moved to Maine where Heather, second of three
children, was born at home. When she was 8-years-old the family moved across the
country to Oregon, and soon after moving, she asked if she could take piano
lessons, a practice she would continue through high school and into college. In
elementary school band she learned flute, and later picked up cello and guitar.

Though the songs on Glider aren't explicitly about touring, her life on the road
provides the backdrop and context for her songs that are often about relationships
that naturally fade as two people grow apart. I've realized that I really used the
songs on Glider and the time I put into writing them as a way to pay some attention
to things I'd been putting off, and to find some clarity around certain events, says
Heather. Building on what she learned from her first solo effort From the Ground
(2009), the dynamic structures and emotional complexity of her new songs are
evidence of how much she's grown as a person and as a songwriter. More confident
and self-assured than ever, songs like Fall Hard evolve from vulnerable bare piano
and vocals to hypnotizing swells of vocals reminiscent of Grouper or Cocteau Twins'
Elizabeth Fraser. Her voice soars in stride with a wall of guitars on Wyoming,
while Mama Shelter introduces a gentle groove as Heather conjures the sensuality
of Stevie Nicks. The album closes with the heartbreaking All for a Love, ending
with the refrain I can see our love is dragging you down. As dark as the sentiment
can be, Heather always seems to be leaning into the light.

    Second Comin'

Stockholm darlings Korallreven return with their sophomore record, aptly named Second Comin' on November 4th. Musically, the material's their most sophisticated to date, playing with dark bass movements, flowing rhythmic melodies and futuristic chasms, to capture both mystery and raw emotion. A spiritual album nearly two years in the works, the record features guest collaborations by Japanese legend Cornelius, Maria Linden of I Break Horses and the Tensta Gospel Choir. The record's cover art was created by infamous Stockholm graffiti artist, NUG. Korallreven has an impressive track record of critical and commercial success.

    Edge Of The Sun

Calexico is no stranger to negotiating borders. For
the better part of two decades, eight albums, and
countless trips around the globe, Joey Burns and
John Convertino have crossed musical barriers with
their band, embracing a multitude of diverse styles.
For Edge of the Sun, the band's keyboardist, Sergio
Mendoza, stepped up to co-write and arrange certain
songs, ultimately co-producing the album along
with Burns, Convertino, and longtime associate
Craig Schumacher: It was Mendoza who suggested
that Calexico physically cross an actual border for a
songwriting retreat to the historic Mexico City borough
    of Coyoacán.

In view of the fresh creative perspective provided
by the band's journey to New Orleans to make its
previous album, Algiers, Edge of the Sun's Mexican origins would seem destined to have a major impact
on the album. The writing here shows Burns and
Convertino's ongoing pursuit of the profound melody,
creating music at once hauntingly accessible
and rich in instrumental texture. With guests including
Sam Beam of Iron and Wine, Ben Bridwell from
Band of Horses, Nick Urata from Devotchka, Carla
Morrison, Gaby Moreno, Amparo Sanchez, multi-instrumentalists
from the Greek band Takim, as well
as Neko Case, Edge of the Sun weaves a dense tapestry
from its international roster. "Madrid, Nashville,
Tucson, El Paso, Berlin; it's an eclectic mix,"
says Burns. "This album is about pushing through
the blue to brighter days. Calexico has always had
that element of hope, going back and forth between
a positive outlook and embracing desperate or dark
themes that I think we all share."

    If You Knew My Mind

Capps is a southern rock troubadour with an eye on the human condition and a pen to write about it. -- OffBeat Magazine

Grayson Capps is like a whiskey-soaked, back-alley poet sired by Tom Waits and Robert Johnson. -- Razor Magazine

It takes less than 30 seconds for the debut album from this New Orleans-based singer/songwriter to pull you in. A lone harmonica blows over a softly strummed electric guitar as a lazy rhythm section props up the beat. Grayson Capps' weathered voice then enters: Yesterday was a very fine day indeed, I got a pint of beer, went outside and brushed my teeth. That about sums up this impressive yet unassuming bluesy debut from one of the many musicians who sound like what New Orleans feels like: languid, a little grimy and dangerous, but with a sense of history and self that wafts up from the streets. Those who listened closely to the soundtrack of the movie A Love Song for Bobby Long will recognize Capps, as his music was used to excellent effect in that rather obscure flick. In fact, Lorraine's Song, the most recognizable tune on that soundtrack, is a Capps composition and gets a suitably impressive and subtle performance here, as does the song whose title inspired the movie. He has a way with a drowsy melody, and after a few spins, these tracks gradually take hold. Certainly anyone who has explored the back streets of New Orleans will recognize the downtrodden characters who populate this album. Capps mythologizes their misery and sadness in songs that are heartfelt and edgy, but he never shortchanges melodies in exchange for gritty, often poetic lyrics. Guitar solos, such as the one in the Crazy Horse-styled Buckshot, are short, tight, and succinct, just like the band that ably supports Capps. His voice sounds like he just woke up and started singing before his first cup of coffee, but that adds to the effect. The album loses a little steam as it winds down, yet this is still a stirring first effort. It conveys the sense, sounds, and dark allure of New Orleans and many of its residents more effectively than a stroll through the French Quarter.

    Fear Fun

Father John Misty is the nom-de-plume of Josh Tillman, who has been releasing solo albums since 2003 and who recently left Seattle's Fleet Foxes after playing drums from 2008-2011. Fear Fun consists of such disparate elements as Waylon Jennings, Harry Nilsson, Arthur Russell, and Physical Graffiti, often within the same song. Tillman's voice has never been better, while the music maintains a dark, mysterious yet playful quality. Fear Fun is Father John Misty's Sub Pop debut and was produced by Phil Ek (Modest Mouse, Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes).

    The Unquiet Sky

Since the early 80's when bands like Cathedral and Saint Vitus pioneered the doom genre of metal, the style has continuously evolved and spread, despite being far less recognized and appreciated than most other forms of more traditional heavy metal. Bands like Eyehategod and Crowbar melded elements of doom into sludge and stoner metal, gaining modest success in the more mainstream metal community, but doom is beginning to enjoy a new wave of popularity, thanks largely to the more progressive experimental work of artists like Stephen O'Malley (Sunn0))), Burning Witch). Indian is a Chicago-based trio whose brand of doom is more akin to that of Eyehategod than the earliest or latest incarnations of the genre, and their distinctively black metal vocals immediately set them apart from the pack.

First things first: The Unquiet Sky is everything a doom record should be. The bass tone is so perfect and intense that it could shake your body through a pair of headphones. The guitars bring Black Sabbath-esque fuzz down enough notches to kill a horse. The percussion is sparse when it needs to be (Ration) and energetic when it's allowed (Tied and Gagged). Dylan O'Toole's vocals give Indian the extra edge over many of the other bands who have perfected this formula by complementing the melancholy created by the music with a demonic voice of evil. There is even an extended track of terrifyingly psychedelic feedback, perfectly placed to scare the crap out of you when you're high. In fact, the only thing that fails to be suitably doom-y and evil about this record is the cover illustration of a Christ-like baboon which, despite being evil enough in spirit, looks a bit too much like it was drawn in a junior high art class.

This record is an easy recommend for fans of the doom genre, but what about anyone unacquainted with the genre I personally don't consider myself a huge aficionado of the style, but loved this record. The only things required to enjoy The Unquiet Sky are an attention span and a love of all things metal. This record generally moves slowly, as does most doom, but it is far less droning and repetitive than many recent examples of the genre. As the name of the style suggests, doom is, by its very nature, dark, oppressive music. As such, Indian is definitely better suited to being digested over an extended period of time at high volumes, rather than short bursts in your car or through headphones.

Bottom Line: If you're searching for the latest, greatest doom record to add to your collection, look no further than Indian's The Unquiet Sky. Fans of Neurosis, Eyehategod and Godflesh should also definitely pick this up. It's a solid record from beginning to end from an up-and-coming trio of doom virtuosos.
