Eric Clapton and Duane Allman in the Same Band for the Only Time: Derek and the Dominos' Layla a Timeless Batch of Fire-Pot Blues, Poignant Gospel, Searing Rock, and Lustful Emotion

Mastered from the Original Master Tapes and Pressed at RTI: Mobile Fidelity 180g 2LP of Layla Is the Definitive-Sounding Analog Edition, Presents Music With Immersive Detail and Realism

The reputation of Derek and the Dominos' Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, their lone record, precedes it. Eric Clapton performing in the studio with Duane Allman, Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle, and more for the only time. A batch of fire-pot blues, poignant gospel, and searing rock - all birthed from the leader's insatiable lust for his friend George Harrison's wife. Now, experience it all, and one of the most famous guitar solos and codas in history, in unsurpassed sound courtesy of this quintessential Mobile Fidelity reissue.

Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's 180g 2LP set exposes the brilliance of Tom Dowd's original production and the scope of the virtuoso musicians' playing. You've never been closer to the aching vocals, stinging leads, tormented emotions, or wowing intensity that grace every track. Clapton's tones emerge with unprecedented soulfulness. Afforded their own space in the mix, Allman's slide-guitar passages crackle with urgency. All-important sonic components such as soundstaging, imaging, and dynamics transport you to the actual event. Mobile Fidelity's analog version testifies on behalf of why fans deemed Clapton god.

Then, of course, there's the title track - crowned the 27th greatest song of all time by Rolling Stone. What to say about the outro - arguably the most famous, passionately penetrating, visceral, double-edged guitar solo in history. Clapton's strings weeping with longing, hope, regret, unrequited love. It deserves the best-possible sonic platform, and receives it here, on a pressing that brings Slowhand's every finger moment into great relief. Get inside Clapton's head, burrow into the conflicted emotions fluttering in his heart as he pines for his another man's wife, and in the process, produces an album that forever lives in the souls of anyone who's ever loved and lost.

Clapton's pained yearning permeates everything here. Works such as the swampy Tell the Truth, the pleading Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad?, and blues-drenched Have You Ever Loved a Woman? attest to his raw-nerve discomfort, guilt, and desire. He leaves teardrops on the microphone stand and blood on the floor, singing and playing as if his life depends on it and if, by some miracle, the music will serve as both a confessional and apology to Harrison. It's all magnified by Clapton achieving a spiritual and sonic oneness with his band, which matches his high-stakes precision with a rolling, tumbling looseness.

Allman adds firepower and achieves a still-unrivaled simpatico bond with Clapton, but each participant soars. Consider: The call-and-response, Sam and Dave-derived vocal exchanges between Whitlock and Clapton. Rich, creamy, Southern-stoked blends of R&B, blues, and soul. Vibrant tapestries in which the pianos, bass, guitars, and voices explode with ravishing fervor, naturalism, and desperation. Indeed, maybe a combo this great was only intended one shot in the studio. Perhaps the paralyzing degree of potency on display here, and the musicianship that remains the standard by which any blues-rock is judged, is meant to be preserved as one standalone record. Whatever the case, this is the analog version to own.

    Breakdown

Is Divorce Rock a genre? I guess that's how one would describe that band Everclear, hmmm...
Well, this is way better than Everclear. Breakdown is like dark, new wave Americana. Imagine if
Prince and Ryan Adams went on a road trip and confessed all their wrongdoings. It'd be cathartic
and grim, but it'd also be awesome and weird.

Most people know Derek Grant as the ripping drummer in Alkaline Trio, but he's been making music
for years and can sing and play any instrument like a virtuoso. It's actually really unfair and annoying
how good he is at making music. The release of this batch of songs is the final bit of closure on a
rough, turbulent part of Derek's life, and thankfully for us, the final product is much more upbeat and
likable than the trials that inspired Breakdown.

    Already Free

The Derek Trucks Band have been issuing records (live and studio) that are long on fire, improvisation, and inspiration. Trucks' own skillful leadership has seamlessly melded Rock, Blues, Jazz, and Eastern Indian modal music in a brew that is uniquely his own.

Already Free (2009), the ninth studio album by The Derek Trucks Band, is an exception to the rule. Trucks himself stated that the album has a different feeling compared to their other works because in the past, he always felt pressure to make a guitar album. The difference, he maintains, is that the band has had more time to mature, and the album's sound is more balanced between the different contributions of its members, who developed its overall effect as they arranged the songs that were recorded for this album.

The album has received very positive reviews, and debuted at #19 on the Billboard Top 200 reached #1 on the Blues chart, #1 on the Internet chart, and #4 on the Rock chart. This marks the band's highest debut on the Billboard Top 200 chart to date. The album won the 2010 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album, marking the band's first Grammy award.

The first single Down in the Flood features guest musicians include Doyle Bramhall II, Susan Tedeschi and Eric Krasno (of Soulive). The song Back Where I Started was co-written by Trucks with fellow Allman Brothers Band guitarist Warren Haynes.

    Oceana

Recognized by many as the premiere rock keyboardist of his generation, Derek Sherinian has performed for millions via Black Country Communion (of which he is a current member alongside Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham, Joe Bonamassa), Dream Theater, Alice Cooper, Buddy Miles and as an off-stage performer accompanying KISS. He also enjoyed tenures with Billy Idol, Yngwie Malmsteen and many others.

Favoring a guitar heavy rock based approach to fusion ala one of his musical heroes Jeff Beck, his newest release, Oceana once again displays the power and energy Sherinian creates in the studio, setting him apart from most jazz fusion ensembles in the process. He displays the rare combination of being a musical chameleon, while maintaining his signature style in no matter what genre he is playing in. With Oceana, the stage is set for Sherinians inspiration to be propelled in to the mainstream.

Sherinian has carved out a niche for himself in the progressive metal scene. He has attracted the best players on Earth to his solo album sessions, some of whom include luminaries Al DiMeola, Steve Lukather, Yngwie Malmsteen, Slash, John Petrucci, John Sykes and Zakk Wylde. With Oceana, again an assemblage of some of the most talented players to ever strap on a guitar join Sherinian in the studio.

Steve Lukather once again collaborated with the keyboardist for the tracks Mulholland, Euphoria and Seven Sins. Former Planet X guitarist and fusion legend Tony MacAlpine laid down performances for Five Elements and Mercury 7. The one and only Steve Stevens is featured on Ghost Runner and the title track Oceana. Black Country Communion band mate Joe Bonamassa makes an appearance as well on I Heard That, while Doug Aldrich performs on El Camino Diablo. Simon Phillips performs all drums on Oceana, while Jimmy Johnson laid down the bass on all tracks outside of Ghost Runner and the title track which features Tony Franklin.

The 1970s saw the creation of keyboard legends, when titans including Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman and Jon Lord were superstars. It was a time when talent on the keys was not only appreciated, but celebrated in popular music. With Oceana, perhaps a rebirth is upon the precipice of change for the Santa Cruz-raised, Berklee School of Music educated Sherinian to witness a new dawn where keyboardists once again are heroes. Inevitably, it is only a matter of time before Sherinian is recognized as the premiere rock keyboardist of this generation.

Guest Appearances By Solomon Burke, RubÉn Blades A.O.

American guitarist and songwriter Derek Trucks had played with such artists as Bob Dylan, Joe Walsh and Stephen Stills by his twentieth birthday. After performing with The Allman Brothers Band for several years as a guest musician, Trucks became a formal member of the band in 1999 and appeared on 4 of their albums.

Trucks officially formed The Derek Trucks Band in 1996. The album Joyful Noise features guests including his wife Susan Tedeschi (with who he formed The Tedeschi Trucks Band in 2010), Rahat Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and soul artist Solomon Burke. Derek is best known for his slide guitar style and plays an eclectic blend of blues, soul, jazz, rock and world music. The Derek Trucks Band won an Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album for Already Free [MOVLP1395] in 2010.

Albert King, the velvet bulldozer, was one third of the 'three kings of guitar' along with B.B and Freddie, although given he was 6'4' and weighed 250lbs he probably amounted to a little more. Revelator

Revelator is a dramatic leap forward for both Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks in every respect, from the songwriting and the production to Tedeschi's vocals and Trucks' guitar playing. Their new 11-piece band is an aggregation of talented musicians related by experience, and blood, and clearly adds to the notion of Revelator as a true group album.

Tedeschi and Trucks co-wrote the album's 11 tracks with an impressive list of songwriters including: Jeff Trott, John Leventhal, David Ryan Harris and Sonya Kitchell, Gary Louris (The Jayhawks), Oliver Wood (Wood Brothers), Doyle Bramhall II, Erick Krasno (Soulive), Mike Mattison, Kofi Burbridge and Oteil Burbridge.

In addition to Tedeschi and Trucks, Revelator features bassist Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers) and keyboardist/flutist Kofi Burbridge (The Derek Trucks Band), drummers J.J. Johnson and Tyler Greenwell, trumpeter Maurice Brown, tenor saxophonist Kebbi Williams, trombonist Saunders Sermons and harmony singers Mark Rivers and Mike Mattision.

Falling Into Infinity is the fourth studio album by Dream Theater and is considered to be their most infamous album. Originally released in 2003, it was their first studio album to include lead slide guitar player Derek Trucks and bass player Oteil Burbridge and marked the full-time return of guitar player Warren Haynes to the band. It was also their first (and only) studio album not to include original guitarist Dickey Betts.

Live In San Diego (with Special Guest JJ Cale)

Eric Clapton's Live in San Diego With Special Guest JJ Cale is a live album from the 2007 tour featuring JJ Cale, Doyle Bramhall II, Robert Cray, Derek Trucks and more. Almost 2 hours of music including previously unreleased versions of Layla, Tell The Truth, Cocaine and Crossroads.

Recorded at Clapton's March 15, 2007 performance at the iPayOne Center in San Diego, CA, this concert was part of a world tour that was much loved by Clapton fans and featured a stellar band that included guitarists Derek Trucks (now of the Tedeschi Trucks band) and Doyle Bramhall II. The two-hour San Diego concert was a highlight of the tour as it featured JJ Cale as a special guest on five tracks (including "After Midnight" and "Cocaine"), as well as Robert Cray on the final song of the record, "Crossroads."

After successfully covering several JJ Cale songs over his career, Clapton finally collaborated with Cale in 2006 on the original album Road to Escondido. At the time, Clapton said "This is the realization of what may have been my last ambition, to work with the man whose music has inspired me for as long as I can remember." So it is fitting that one year later, Cale joined Clapton on stage for this special concert where they performed five songs together - underlining the mutual respect the two musicians had for each other.

The concert features a superb set list from across Eric's career. Notably, it includes songs from Eric's classic Derek and the Dominos album Layla, with Derek Trucks playing many of Duane Allman's original guitar parts.

Clapton's career, spanning more than 50 years, has resulted in 18 Grammy Awards and the distinct honor of being the only triple inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

    Dream Diary

On Jeremy Jays Dream Diary, the sway of the heart is in overdrive with the freedom of youth and bright horizons. These are the major themes of Dream Diary. Recorded with the powerful yet lithe trio of Jeremy, guitar and keyboards, Derek playing electric bass guitar, and Michael on drums, they kept the room alive at Stagg Street Studios in Los Angeles, CA with the majestic pop perfection that unfolds as Dream Diary draws you into its spell. Synth driven, and a bit moodier than his past work, this album will take you by the hand and walk with you towards a beautiful sunset, and then walk right past it.

    Reign Of Terror

Reign Of Terror is the sophomore album from Brooklyn, NY noise-pop duo Sleigh Bells and follow-up to their heralded 2010 debut Treats. The 12-song set was produced by Sleigh Bells guitarist Derek Miller and engineered by Shane Stoneback, who also worked on Treats.

According to Miller, With Treats it was less clear to me whether Sleigh Bells was going to be a guitar band or if we were going to do more sample-heavy stuff. With this record I had to pick sides. The beats are still important to me, but the guitar won.

    So, It's Like That

Joe Bonamassa is a young guitar virtuoso, in line with the likes of Derek Trucks and John Mayer (like Jonny Lang and Kenny Wayne Shepherd before them) to be the Next Blues-Rock Guitar Hero. So, It's Like That, his sophomore solo effort, includes production by Clif Magness, and his band includes drummer Kenny Kramme and bassist Eric Czar. Bonamassa shines when he is allowed to stretch out and explore, on songs such as the sonically varied Pain and Sorrow. There, on a long improvisation, he works through myriad modes of playing, textures, and musical ideas.

    Roller Coaster Weekend

As a drummer, flutist and keyboardist, Joe Vitale's first album featured his own playing on multiple instruments. Augmented by guitar fireworks of former band mate Joe Walsh, Rick Derringer and Phil Keaggy, Vitale delivered an album filled to the brim with catchy rhythms and playful songwriting. Ron and Howard Albert produced the album, whom were also responsible for Derek and the Dominoes' Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, the Allman Brothers' Eat A Peach, and other legendary albums. After recording Rollercoaster Weekend, Vitale would join the Stills-Young band and tour with the classic Crosby, Stills & Nash line-up, as well as the Eagles.

    Let Me Get By

Let Me Get By features ten new, original songs that together stand as a testament to the hard work, independent spirit, and full-on commitment of the entire Tedeschi Trucks Band. The album's artwork-a Mongolian golden eagle caught a moment after flying from its handler's glove-and even the album title itself reflect the sense of total dedication that serves as the driving force behind TTB.

Some songs you may have heard on stage in 2015, and some others that were deliberately held back for this occasion. Susan's vocals and Derek's guitar soar, tumble and glide through each song, as powerful as ever, even in the album's most understated moments. --tedeschitrucksband

Boxes is a vibrant, sonically forward-looking album that manages to retain what their legions of fans love about the Goo Goo Dolls - indelible melodies, intimate, heartfelt lyrics, and the anthemic, uplifting vibe of their songs - while pushing new boundaries in terms of sound and production.

Singer and guitarist John Rzeznik enlisted some of his favorite songwriters and producers to collaborate with, including Gregg Wattenberg (with whom Rzeznik wrote four songs on the Goos' 2013 album Magnetic), Wattenberg's production partner Derek Fuhrmann, and Drew Pearson (who has worked with Phillip Phillips and OneRepublic).
