These 1951 performances provided the foundation for an evolution in both musical style and documentation. They are among the first examples of the percussive, melodically compact, and blues-based extension of jazz modernism that came to be known as hard bop, and share similar pride of place as examples of the extended performances made possible by the long-playing microgroove record.

    Dig

Taking up from where iconic bands like Deep Purple and Bad Company have left off, Heaven & Earth is on a mission to resurrect the sanctity of classic rock in its purest, most accessible form on their third studio album titled Dig. Dig was produced by Dave Jenkins-who's turned the knobs for everyone from Metallica to Tower of Power-and features special guests Howard Leese (Heart, Paul Rodgers), Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi) and David Paich (Toto).

Heaven & Earth-guitarist Stuart Smith, singer Joe Retta, bassist Chuck Wright, drummer Richie Onori and keyboardist Arlan Schierbaum-fuse elements of hard rock, blues and bits of classical with bravado and a razor-sharp focus.

As the band's founder and visionary, Smith says about Dig, "I feel that with the crafting of the songs on this album, the incredible band we've put together, especially with powerhouse vocalist Joe Retta and the unwavering support of Quarto Valley Records' President, Bruce Quarto, we really have a shot at getting Heaven & Earth the attention it deserves. This album is by far, the best thing I have ever done in my life!"

The British-born guitarist spent the 70's bending strings with numerous groups before he distinguished himself by making the acquaintance of Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore, who mentored the up-and-coming musician. "I'm probably one of the few people in the world who grew up with a poster of someone on their wall, ended up meeting them, becoming friends with them, and getting mentored by them," Smith notes. At the urging of Blackmore, Smith migrated to Los Angeles where the seeds for Heaven & Earth were planted. The band released two critically acclaimed albums-Heaven & Earth Featuring Stuart Smith (1994) and Windows to the World (2000)-which helped advance Smith's musical vision. Now, with Dig complete, the guitarist says Heaven & Earth is a true band, an energized collective of like-minded musicians who are excited at bringing its unique, celestial brand of rock to audiences all over the world in 2013. "All the pieces are in place," he explains with graceful candor. "We're ready to make this our year."

All the backing tracks on Dig were recorded at Ocean Studios in Burbank, California, and all the overdubs were done at the band's own Wine Cellar Studios in Woodland Hills, California. To further refine the record's sonic reach, Jenkins used a Closed Loop Analog Signal Processor (CLASP), a device that integrates real analog tape recording into digital tools like Pro Tools to create a warm and vintage sound. Both Van Halen and Aerosmith enlisted a CLASP on their most recent albums.

    Dig Me Out

"Sleater-Kinney is America's best rock band" - Greil Marcus, Time (2001)

Sleater-Kinney is an acclaimed, American rock band that formed in
Olympia, Washington in 1994. The band's core lineup consists of Corin
Tucker (vocals and guitar), Carrie Brownstein (guitar and vocals), and
Janet Weiss (drums). Sleater-Kinney were known for their feminist,
left-leaning politics, and were an integral part of the riot grrrl and indie
rock scenes in the Pacific Northwest.

Dig Me Out is the third studio album by Sleater-Kinney, originally
released on April 8, 1997 by Kill Rock Stars. The album was produced
by John Goodmanson and recorded from December 1996 to January
1997 at John and Stu's Place in Seattle, Washington. Dig Me Out marked
the debut of Janet Weiss, who became the band's longest-serving and
    last drummer.

Dig Me Out made several publications' best album lists. The album
appeared at number four in The Village Voice's "Pazz & Jop" critics' poll
for 1997. In 2001, Spin placed it at number 19 on its list of 50 Most
Essential Punk Records. In 2003, the album was ranked number 272
on Rolling Stone's list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time." In
2005, the album was ranked number 24 in Spin's 100 Greatest Albums,
1985-2005. In 2012, Spin also ranked it at number 74 on their 125
Best Albums of the Past 25 Years. In 2008, the song Dig Me Out was
ranked number 44 in Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All
    Time.

Now [delivers] the punch their words describe...If [Sleater-Kinney]
wanna be our Simone de Beauvoir, Dig Me Out proves they're up to it.'
    [9/10] - Ann Powers, SPIN

The album has been freshly remastered by Greg Calbi for this release.
This reissue coincides with Sub Pop's release of

    Dig Your Roots

Known for their record-breaking tracks, undeniable energy and all around good vibes, FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE will release DIG YOUR ROOTS on Big Machine Label Group. The award-winning duo's highly anticipated third studio album uncovers pieces of their lineage along with an evolved creativity.

"Our album cover says it all," shares Brian Kelley. "Tyler and I are continuing to grow musically and personally. We really wanted this album to reflect who we are and our lives in this moment, but also where we came from."

Tyler Hubbard adds, "we both started out playing guitar, singing in church and writing songs so we wanted to let fans see our foundation - a deeper side to us. We couldn't have picked a more fitting title or image for DIG YOUR ROOTS."

Award-winning producer Joey Moi, who has been at the helm for FGL's entire discography to date, once again joined the pair for DIG YOUR ROOTS. The duo penned over half of the new music, further depicting an evolution in both of their life journeys. FGL's soaring single "H.O.L.Y." sets the tone for the new project and is "the right balance of change and continuity, and the mix of love and spirituality" (Billboard).

    Dig That Treasure

This trio includes Nedelle Torrisi (former Kill Rock Stars artist, The Curtains, Why?, Xiu Xiu), Chris Cohen (The Curtains, Deerhoof, Cass McCombs), and Michael Carreira (music teacher). Every song here is a miniature journey, a free fantasia, a dreamy habitat built out of the minimum of material. Sudden rhythmic gestures and frequent key changes will leave you feeling pleasantly disoriented. The record is humbly inspired by the larger-than-life emotions of West Side Story, the joyfully percussive guitar gospel of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, The Wizard Of Oz's bittersweet escapism, the other-world sentimentality of Sun Ra's Spaceship Lullaby, and Henry Cowell's ethereal piano string strumming.

You Dig The Tunnel, I'll Hide The Soil

You Dig The Tunnel, I'll Hide The Soil is the London Quartet, Hatcham Social's debut album recorded at Big Mushroom studios in the north of England with the Charlatans singer Tim Burgess and Jim Spencer at the controls. The album is a spiky, sparky collection of itching pop tunes which hark back to a time of musical innocence. A few live favorites make reappearances but otherwise the album consists of brand new songs highlighted by the lead single Murder in the Dark and the frankly terrific summer-anthem-in-waiting Sidewalk.

Digging In The Dust: Home Recordings 1976

Songwriter/guitarist Mark Fosson grew up in Kentucky, where he began writing songs while he was still in his early teens. In the late '70s he sent some song demos to John Fahey's West Coast-based Takoma Records, and Fahey, impressed with what he heard, offered Fosson a recording deal. Fosson lost no time in relocating to Los Angeles and began recording with Fahey, but as bad luck would have it, Takoma was in some difficulty, and the label soon folded. Fahey allowed Fosson to retain the master tapes of the sessions, however.

Now located on the West Coast, Fosson met fellow songwriter Edward Tree, and the two began working together, eventually forming the Bum Steers, a country-tinged group, in the late '80s. Fosson material appeared on several soundtracks through the 1990s. In 2001 he began collaborating with singer/songwriter Lisa O'Kane, who recorded several of his songs, and Fosson also began recording a solo project, Jesus on a Greyhound, which was eventually released on Big Otis Records. The record drew positive reviews and Fosson was frequently compared to Americana artists like Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Joe Ely, John Prine, and Guy Clark.

The Fahey material finally saw the light of day as The Lost Takoma Sessions from Drag City Records in 2006. His instrumental piece Another Fine Day is featured on the critically acclaimed Tompkins Square compilation Imaginational Anthem. Now Tompkins Square has put together more hard to come by but welcome material from this gifted artist with the collection Digging In The Dust: Home Recordings 1976, an 11-track set of home recordings Fosson made circa 1976.

Up, On & Over (Awaiting Repress)

The album is a collection of songs defined by the band's ability to step out of their comfort zone and push forward. Leading the way is first single "Further
On," an optimistic anthem steeped in summertime brightness. "Further On" started making waves months before the album's anticipated release, when it
was tapped as the soundtrack to the PGA Tour's national ad campaign featuring Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. The rest of the record follows suit with
strong hooks, twangy guitars, and driving percussion. While we can't be sure where Bronze Radio Return's story will take them next, Up, On & Over is an
exciting new chapter in their journey. Keep an eye out as their story unfolds, taking us all for a ride moving... well Further On.

Formed in 2008, Bronze Radio Return's line-up took a few years to solidify, though most of the band's members were orbiting each other for years at the
Hartt School, one of the country's best schools of music, located in Hartford, Connecticut. For debut Old Time Speaker, the band relocated to Nashville for
a two-week period, to, as lead vocalist Chris Henderson puts it, "A place we'd never been with a producer we'd never met, and played a bunch of songs
we'd never played before." For such an inauspicious set of circumstances, the band managed a solid and well-received debut, and forged a lasting bond
with producer Chad Copelin (Ivan & Alyosha, Train.) Old Time Speaker established the band's relentless touring schedule, including an invitation to
represent the Connecticut music scene by performing for President Obama at an event in Bridgeport, CT in 2010. Fan favorites "Digital Love" and "Lo-Fi"
have been picked up for advertising and television licensing and the album landed on CMJ's Top 200 Album Chart.

    Live At Ronnie Scott's

This is a previously unreleased mono recording of Modes and Blues from the Tubby Hayes Quintet's weekly Ronnie Scott's residency on 8th February 1964. Regarded as one of the masterworks of British modern jazz, Modes and Blues shows the Quintet at the very height of its powers, channelling the new musical flavours and inspiration that Tubby Hayes had absorbed from the cutting edge of jazz and the new directions of John Coltrane.

Recorded with Hayes' approval by Les Tomkins on his Ferrograph tape recorder, this is one of the most engrossing of all his stretch-out epics. Hayes digs in deep with marathon and breathtaking soloing, trumpeter Jimmy Deuchar delivers his characteristically lyrical improvisation, and there's dynamic interplay and drive from the great Terry Shannon, Freddy Logan and Allan Ganley rhythm section.

The Quintet had barely a few months left to run at the time of this performance, splitting in August 1964, fearing its music had atrophied into self-parody. Modes and Blues is among its many triumphs, a performance that shows how high the band had set the aspirational bar for British modernism, and, as such, is as much a cultural document as a musical souvenir.

Over the past few years, Berkeley-based songwriter/producer Dan Casey (better known as Yalls) has issued everything from sun-kissed synth-pop to quirky hip-hop instrumentals, glitched excursions of post-aughts soul, to tropical-tinged, vocal-led boom-bap. He has regularly delivered immersive one-offs, inventive remixes, and guitar based works under his own name, Casey has built a reputation as a producer who may be hard to pin down in exact terms, but is always reliable for delivering delicious hooks and poignant melodies. Unite, the first proper full-length album by Yalls, is a cohesive amalgamation of the sound Casey has been exploring. It combines elements of mid-60's funk, modern experimental beatmaking, and pop music - firmly placing the listener in a unique space somewhere between defunct dance halls and outer space.

Source of Pride is the second full-length album by Roman Ruins (Graham Hill). The album continues his exploration into the distinctive yet evolving sound of his solo recording project. The songs on Source of Pride formed as Hill moved his family from Oakland to New Orleans, where he now lives and works as an architect and a father to 2 young children. Hill often worked late at night, which helped define the aural landscape that belies each track. As the songs began to take shape, Hill's wife remarked how every time I'm pregnant, you're pregnant with an album. The lyrical themes on Source of Pride address the relationships, rituals, and revelations that constitute family.

It's an interesting foray deeper into the world of electronics once more that the band manages to imbue with their unpredictable spirit. - I Guess I'm Floating

Back and forth between being a grand, dispassionate epic and a more nuanced study of individuality and personhood. - No Fear Of Pop

Prime is a long-playing record written and recorded by the band Conveyor. The music on this record was composed and performed alongside two midnight screenings of George Lucas' THX 1138 in December 2013 at Nitehawk Cinema in Brooklyn, NY. At Bay

Debut from the London based three-piece. The Wharves combine gracefully minimal psyche-rock with fuzzed out folk. Their songwriting remains consistently rich throughout 'At Bay' largely due to the startling harmonies of Gemma Fleet (bass) and Dearhla Minogue (guitar) bonding each of the albums 13 tracks. The glorious production courtesy of Rory Attwell (The Vaccines, Veronica Falls) makes for a unique debut. They invoke the spook of 60s girl groups, the mid-fi guitar crunch of The Amps, the vocal flavours of The Roches and the narrative of 70's progressive folk. Marion Andrau's thunderous drumming drives through these compositions, ensuring the wealth of disparate influences remain focused and celebratory.

    Foreign Pedestrians

    Purple Colored Vinyl

Foreign Pedestrians is the first collaborative album between LA-based exotic-beatsmith Monster Rally and Jay Stone, a thought-provoking emcee out of Oakland. The album's production focuses heavily on Monster Rally's global haze sound combined with funk and jazz elements. Stone has the unique lyrical ability to seamlessly bounce around these unconventional beats. The collaboration's tracks cover an immense amount of both physical and temporal space, ranging from the slow-motion smoke-out of Lake Merritt to the lounge soul of Cognac.
