    Life. Love. Flesh. Blood

Imelda May's fifth studio record, entitled Life. Love. Flesh. Blood, is set for release via Verve Records.

It is clear that one of Ireland's biggest exports has found a new groove, here presenting the most personal and intimately autobiographical album she has ever written. The album is produced by the legendary T Bone Burnett, who said of Imelda: "When I first happened onto her music, she was a punky Irish Rockabilly singer with a great band. When I ran across her several years later, she had gone through a change of lives and was writing about it with a wild intensity and singing about it in the most open-hearted way."

The album marks a new direction for May who, in the time since her 2014 release Tribal, ended her marriage of eighteen years. Imelda May's new sound sits firmly outside of any sharply defined genre box, widely spanning blues, rock, soul, gospel and jazz. Life, Love, Flesh, Blood breathes new life into a classic sound, with Imelda's powerhouse vocal as distinctive as ever, cementing her position as one of the strongest vocalists of her generation. The singer herself describes the record as her most "honest" yet. Imelda's life changed considerably in the run-up to recording, and this is documented in the only way she knew how. Imelda explains, "It's therapy, like keeping a diary that a lot of people read. Some of my favorite songs don't say much, but they reveal everything."

Recorded over seven days in Los Angeles, the album features musical contributions from guitar hero Jeff Beck ("Black Tears"), piano legend Jools Holland ("When It's My Time") and an accomplished group of backing musicians including the core trio of guitarist Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello), drummer Jay Bellerose (Elton John & Leon Russell, Ray Lamontagne) and bassist Zach Dawes (The Last Shadow Puppets, Mini Mansions), the same band that recorded Robert Plant and Alison Krauss' Raising Sand.

First single "Black Tears" is a personal and heart-wrenching ballad, it features a distinctive slide guitar part, coupled with a unique picking and guitar tone that could be the handiwork of only one man - the legendary Jeff Beck. Jeff Beck says of Imelda, "I knew it from the start you cannot ignore talent this unique."

Imelda showcases her raw yet restrained breathtaking lead vocal, complimented by rich backing vocals and a super tight rhythm section. Written with Angelo Petragalia (Kings of Leon), the inspiration for the song's visual and poignant lyrics was inspired by a very personal moment for Imelda: "I wrote Black Tears with Angelo Petraglia after a heart-wrenchingly difficult goodbye. I closed my door and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror with black tears rolling down my face. It's a sight and situation most women have unfortunately seen ourselves in at some point in life. Angelo had a beautiful guitar piece that fit the mood perfectly."

Imelda May, born and raised in The Liberties area of Dublin, has become one of Ireland's most celebrated female artists in history. Discovered by Jools Holland, who asked Imelda to support him on tour, Imelda has gone on to perform alongside legendary artists including Lou Reed, Bono, and Smokey Robinson.

    Dublin Blues

Available On Vinyl For The First Time

Dublin Blues is an album by American singer-songwriter Guy Clark, originally released in 1995.

A mere three years after Boats to Build, Guy Clark offered Dublin Blues, a record filled with sizzle, inspiration, and his
best batch of songs in years. Teaming with Miles Wilkinson for the third time and using in the studio for the first time
his road band -- which included Über guitarist and singer Darrell Scott -- Clark delivered a batch of searing portraits,
intimate observations, first-person narratives, and one dumb throwaway cut ("Baby Took A Limo to Memphis").
As usual, some old friends return to the fold -- Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris, Sam Bush, Verlon Thompson, Kenny
Malone, and Suzy Ragsdale -- but there were new faces at the time that joined in like Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Nanci
    Griffith, and Kathy Mattea.

The magic begins with the title track. Haunted Celtic melodies played on the fiddle and a mandolin with an acoustic
guitar usher in a country song that could be from the countryside of Ireland. With Mattea on the backing vocals,
the listener is transported between worlds in time and space. "Black Diamond Strings" is a friendly little number
about what else: guitar strings! Its catchy hook and singalong chorus make it a Clark winner. "Shut Up and Talk to
Me" features Scott playing the swinging blues as Clark counts off the music like a fierce memory. "Stuff That Works"
is another of Clark's quiet observation tunes, where his words speak volumes and the instruments underline their
meanings. It's a workingman's anthem sung seemingly from the workshop bench. But "Hank Williams Said It Best,"
"Tryin' to Try," "Cape," and "Hangin' Your Life on the Wall" are all tremendous in their scope and intimacy. They are
full of dimension and depth, and Wilkinson gives them textures.

The set ends with a re-recording of the spooky yet shattering elegy "The Randall Knife" Clark cut on Better Days. The
difference here is age. The view Clark sings from is one of distance and age. "The Randall Knife" doesn't feel quite
so spooky this time out, but it does resonate with empathy and even tenderness. As it winds to a close, the listener
is left not in bewildered silence but in awe that such a bond exists at all.

    Science & Faith

Follow-up to The Script's debut album from Dubliners Danny O'Donoghue, Mark Sheehan and Glen Power. For The First Time is the lead track and is the inspirational key to The Script's second album Science & Faith - an addictive blend of hip hop rhythms, flowing melodies, sparkling hooks and poignant, story-spinning lyrics, with Danny's mellifluous soulful vocals riding high over huge, anthemic choruses. Finding weighty, emotion-packed mini-epics came thick and fast, Science & Faith is far from a difficult second album.

    Give It Time

Three years have passed since the Revellions released their last single and it's been five years since their eponymous debut album on Dirty Water Records. This will be the one album this year for which anticipation is high. This is the one the fans have been waiting for. The album contains contributions from members old and new and spans a riotous five years, much of which was spent touring around Europe with recording sessions in Dublin fitted in when they were able to drag themselves out of the pub. Despite the time lapse and line up changes, this is no difficult second album. It's a coherent collection of tracks that truly represents the band at this time. This is a band becoming tighter than ever with new songs to not just rival but surpass those on the debut.

    The Script

The Script is made up of three Irish lads from Dublin who are now currently based out of London, England.

The trio's music boasts the kind of artful twists sure to turn all preconceptions on their head. This is a whole new brand of Celtic Soul, blending Hip Hop lyrical flow with Pop melodiousness, state-of-the-art R&B production with anthemic Rock dynamics, classic song construction with gritty contemporary narratives.

It's got all the emotion and passion you would expect from across the Irish sea, but it is glittering in its modernity, universal in its singalong addictiveness and global in its syncopation, music for the feet, heart and head.

This 11 track album showcases the band's fine talent with a batch of beautifully written songs.

    Tribal

Last summer Imelda May became a mother for the first time. You might expect her to turn to singing ballads. You would be horribly wrong.

"There are no lullabies on this album," laughs the lady who's brought rockabilly back into fashion sixty years after it was kicked into life by young men like
Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley, Gene Vincent and Jerry Lee Lewis.

"Tribal" is as primal a rock 'n' roll record as you could ever find, infused with the spirit of Sun Studios, where the sound was born in Memphis, Tennessee -
but given a 21st century kick up the butt by a girl from the back streets of Dublin.

Tribal" - her third album, following "Love Tattoo" and the Top Ten hit "Mayhem" - is her punchiest yet.

The songs on "Tribal" are infused with the rebel spirit that launched rock 'n' roll on an unsuspecting world way back in the mid-1950s, but also the rebel
spirit of the punk bands Imelda admired growing up in Dublin in the late 1970s as the youngest of five siblings - The Clash and The Undertones, The
    Buzzcocks and The Cramps.

The motto for the way Imelda lives her life is the title of her new single 'It's Good To Be Alive'. "I wrote it in the early hours of the morning one day after I
had the baby," she reveals. "I was sleep-deprived and feeling very exhausted. I looked out of the window, watched the sun rise through the trees and felt
    - God, it's good to be alive!"

Other song titles sum up Imelda's zest for life. 'It's Good To Be Alive'. 'I Wanna Dance'. 'Wicked Way'. 'Wild Woman'. Especially the latter, with its chorus:
"There's a wild woman livin' inside of me/A wicked, wicked wild woman, dyin' to be free". "You see people toning it down and becoming more responsible
as they get older. But inside, there's still the lunatic inside"

    We Move

Written in constant transition - and recorded between Toronto, Dublin and London - 'We Move' is James Vincent McMorrow's most expansive, generous and ambitious record to date. There is, on the other hand, something more stripped-back - vulnerable, even - surfacing for the first time: far from the dense, protective imagery at the heart of 'Post Tropical', 'We Move' is ultimately a record open in its portrait of anxiety and social unease. For McMorrow, it's about celebrating mental fragility - and how we move forward in life - rather than "people listening to my songs and believing that I'm out in the forest all day long, thinking about trees. Because I'm actually at home, trying to convince myself to go out and get milk."

The first steps to 'We Move' took place in 2014, when James - having been asked to write for different artists' projects - started sketching out ideas for others on tour (and subsequently stopped over-analysing his own work). Intent on doing the opposite of everything he'd done thus far, McMorrow then came off the road, but kept exploring: first through Barcelona, then Canada, and stopping in Los Angeles for six particularly fish-out-of-water months, where the songs for the album crystallised. He returned to Dublin determined not to just produce another album himself, but to work with people who could articulate the unique world he heard in his head ("I grew up wanting to write songs like Neil Young but produce them like The Neptunes"). And so James reached out to a few key co-producers he'd met whilst travelling, who formed the backbone of 'We Move': namely, Nineteen85 (Drake, DVSN), Two Inch Punch (Sam Smith, Years & Years), and Frank Dukes (Kanye West, Rihanna). Mixing took place largely in Miami with one of McMorrow's all-time heroes, Jimmy Douglass - known for his work from Donny Hathaway through to Timbaland - who finessed the record's warm, vintage yet forward-thinking feel.

The result is an album about movement - geographically, mentally, emotionally - which remains focused on finding your place in that future. First track 'Rising Water' is starkly-produced and skyscraper-sized in its sense of catharsis ("I never once was sad for what I've done"): 'Evil', meanwhile, questions whether you might in fact be a bad person, because you don't see life the way other people do (its tone is celebratory rather than ominous, however). Heavier still is 'I Lie Awake Every Night', which sees James address for the first time the eating disorder he has battled since he was a child ("it's about lying in hospital when I was a kid, thinking I shouldn't be there, and trying to reconcile those two things"). 'We Move' reacts against McMorrow's instincts to obscure ideas such as this, and ultimately embraces a shared, collective awkwardness, and the idea that maybe we're all putting on a brave face in some way.

Beginning with Rising Water, 'We Move' continues a remarkable journey for the Dublin-born singer and songwriter, whose early work offered little clue as to the sounds and situations that would follow. It's a remarkably assured collection, informed by this idea that you might not have to listen to others when they tell you how they think life is supposed to go; and that as you grow up, you lose things along the way. Rather, 'We Move' suggests it's possible to keep what you want to keep, and lose what you want to lose.

On a pecan farm half a mile from the Mexican border, Post Tropical was born - a collection of sounds and ideas brought to life in rooms where the low
frequencies of passing freight trains vibrated in the studio, briefly disturbing the birds in the rafters. And like most new ideas, Post Tropical is hard to
describe. It requires attention and engagement. It seduces you towards hidden depths.

James Vincent McMorrow's acclaimed debut album, Early in the Morning , reached number 1 in Ireland, went platinum and picked up a Choice Music
Prize nomination upon its release in 2010. Along the way, there were shows everywhere from the Royal Festival Hall to Later...with Jools Holland, and a
breakout hit in the charity cover of Steve Winwood's 'Higher Love'. McMorrow's first record was the formative sounds of a songwriter who suddenly found
people giving a damn. "I'm so proud of that album, but I never longed to be a guy with a guitar. You play these songs live as best you can, and suddenly
you're a Folk musician. But the texture of this record is completely different. This is the kind of stuff that makes sense to me."

    Darling Arithmetic

Darling Arithmetic is the third album from Villagers.

The follow-up to Conor O'Brien's debut, Becoming a Jackal, and its successor, Awayland
    - both hugely acclaimed and each nominated for Britain's Mercury Prize - is a
breathtakingly beautiful, intimate album entirely about love and relationships.
Darling Arithmetic was written, recorded, produced and mixed by O'Brien at home -
the loft of a converted farmhouse that he shares in the coastal town of Malahide to the
north of Dublin - revealing a single-minded artist at the peak of his already considerable
songwriting powers. It encompasses the various shades of feeling - desire, obsession,
lust, loneliness and confusion, and deeper into philosophical and existential territory,
across a cast of lovers, friends, family and even strangers. Backing up his supple and
emoting vocal and guitar is the subtlest palate of instrumentation - piano, Mellotron
(which accounts for the album's occasional horn and cello tones) and brushes. O'Brien
plays every instrument on these exquisite, melodic songs in a sparse, spacious, acousticleaning
    fashion.

Now three albums in, Villagers is the front for playfulness and seriousness, mystery and
revelation, an open-ended and flexible beast that can be anything its creator wants it to
be. By going back to the root of songwriting, O'Brien has reinvented himself.

    Cursing The Sea (Awaiting Repress)

Ships takes their fuzzy garage pop and colors it several shades darker, resulting in an ominous amphetamine-fueled dirge full of screeching guitars, metronomic basslines, and cooly detached vocals. The Girls' pare down their sound to its steely core on Ships, using angular guitar work to sharpen their sunniest melodies to a bleeding point, making this the most thrilling music they've released in their short existence." (Pitchfork)

Cursing The Sea, the debut album from Ireland's September Girls, is a dark kaleidoscope of echoey drums, buzzsaw bass, angular guitars and reverb-drenched vocals that blends garage rock and post-punk to extraordinary effect. Paula (Bass/Vocals), Caoimhe (Guitar/Vocals), Lauren (Keys/Vocals), Jessie (Guitar/Vocals) and Sarah (Drums) draw inspiration from the likes of Phil Spector, The Velvets, The Cure, MBV and The Jesus And Mary Chain and play reverb-soaked noise-pop of the finest order. Formed in Dublin in 2011, the band quickly began booking gigs in Ireland and the UK, before releasing a handful of well-received limited edition singles on various cassette and 7" labels around the world, most recently on the Haus of PINS cassette label run by their kindred spirits PINS, with whom the band have also toured. This release, for the song "Ships", gave the band their biggest press to date, with a glowing review on Pitchfork. With four different songwriters and singers, each song begins with a secret life of its own, only to be unified by the distortion-drenched harmonies and hazy pop stylings of the band.

Whirling around in a tornado of fuzz, dazzling harmonies, disarming lyrics and dizzying excitement, Cursing the Sea is awash with enough attitude and great songs to see September Girls safely to shore. Huge amount of UK Press including NME, Uncut, Sunday times, The Guardian, The Observer, Clash and many more.

Babes In The Wood (Pure Pleasure)

Babes In The Wood is Mary Black's finest, most consistently pleasing album. There is no filler here, and her song selection, culled from new songwriters such as Noel Brazil and classic folkies such as Richard Thompson, is impeccable. The acoustic arrangements (including guitar, piano, mandolin, dobro, and accordion) are carried out by her longtime backing musicians, although the music has a decidedly more pop than Celtic flavor on this album. As with most of her releases, there are many romantic ballads sung with a subtly that adds emotional weight to every song. The main difference on this album is an omnipresent religious tone, whether it's overt in the gospel opener Still Believing or just below the surface in songs such as The Golden Mile. Even a few of the love songs refer to having faith that love will come around again after heartbreak (Just Around the Corner). However, the album is peppered with playful, upbeat tunes that propel the album forward to the final song, a wonderful cover of Joni Mitchells's Urge For Going. A great introduction to the music of Mary Black, and a must-own for fans.

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    Boy

Ranked 417/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

There's little in U2's 1980 debut to suggest that this was a band bent on world domination. Indeed, there's a charming, if naive, coming-of-age urgency in songs such as 'I Will Follow,' 'Stories for Boys' and 'Out of Control' that may startle listeners more familiar with U2's latter-day bombast and stadium-scale theatrics. Bono's viewpoint, still tantalizingly vague and wide-eyed, showed that his penchant for strident polemics hadn't yet gotten the best of him; his anthems are those of a yearning Dubliner barely out of his teens rather than those of a world-weary multimillionaire. The band's sometimes-ragged musical chops work in its favor here, gently burnished to then-fresh new-wave sheen by producer Steve Lillywhite. If the Edge's dense, effects-laden guitar work seems overly familiar, it's only because this album was such a key influence on the whole 'rock of the '80s' sound. Though not quite as moody or musically accomplished as October, arguably the band's first masterpiece, Boy still ranks as one of U2's best albums.

    Life Is Good

The social and political awareness that drives Flogging Molly's music is never more prominent than in their upcoming new release LIFE IS GOOD - a strikingly powerful album and it arrives at a strikingly key time. The sixth studio album by the renowned Celtic-punk rockers now in their 20th year is mature, well crafted, equally polished and almost aggressively topical. It is filled with rousing songs that are timeless in their sentiment, but directly related to today's most pressing concerns: Politics, the economy, unemployment, planned boomtowns gone bust, immigration policies gone awry, and much more.

For singer and lyricist Dave King, it may be the lyrical couplet contained within the surging "Reptiles (We Woke Up") that points toward the album's central theme. "We woke up," sings King, "And we won't fall back asleep."

"The thing is, there are things changing," says King. "That's why I wrote that line, 'Like reptiles, we'll all soon be dust someday.' It's quite scary, especially for somebody who has children these days--bringing up family in this environment of who's welcome and who's not welcome. I'm talking about the cultures in America and the UK--especially American immigration.

Life Is Good thus serves as a wake-up call to those who have simply stood by while far-reaching political decisions were made that had a serious impact on them. And, significantly, it also serves as notice that the time for action is now.

And people are indeed taking action, adds King, which is a crucial point.

"I think especially with things like government--I think we all tend to fall asleep a little bit when it comes to other people that are making decisions for you. I think we should be the ones influencing the government to make these decisions. It's a great thing that we're now taking to the streets again. And it's a positive thing."

Imagery abounds on Life Is Good, and one of the most memorable images might be found in "Adamstown," the saga of a planned community west of Dublin that came to a halt in mid-construction a decade ago when the Irish economy crashed--and left little more than a ghost town in its place.

"It had a huge negative connotation to it," King says of the eerie, unfinished settlement. "But now it's starting to turn again, people are starting to move there, businesses are starting to open, and there is hope."

Thematically, hope and inspiration are a major part of "The Hand of John L. Sullivan," a rollicking track about the legendary "Boston Strong Boy" who was the first ever heavyweight champion of gloved boxing from 1882-1892. Sullivan was a hero to many, and his story has a cultural significance that fits squarely within the story Flogging Molly want to tell with Life Is Good.

"He came from an immigrant family to Boston, and they brought their family over to try to make the best possible world for them," says King. "We live in an environment right now where that doesn't seem to be what should be allowed to happen, you know?

Recorded in Ireland and produced by multiple Grammy Award-winner Joe Chiccarelli (U2, the White Stripes, Beck), Life Is Good is by any measure a formidable return from Flogging Molly, an assessment with which Dave King fully agrees.

"It's been a tough few years for a lot of us in the band. Dennis (Casey, guitarist) lost his dad, I lost my mother, and there have been certain issues, pertaining to sentiment, in a lot of the songs. But we just try to do the best we can. We've always had fun getting together and coming up with the new songs, and it's still that way.

Here we see what's uniquely distinctive about Life is Good, as the gravity and weight of these themes never overshadow the sheer fun and exuberance felt in each song. For the message is delivered and built on the backs of boisterous and barreling live touring.

"We're known for our live shows," says Dave King. Writing albums has always been a vehicle for us -- it's been a means to get people onto the dance floor. And that's kind of the way we've always approached it, no matter what."

"The one thing we are is a positive band," adds Dave King. "When people come and see our shows, it's a celebration--of life, of the good and of the bad. And we have to take the good and the bad for it to be a life."

The Snake is the first solo album by Shane MacGowan with backing band The Popes. Originally released in 1994, the album is a bracing set of songs that draw heavily on traditional Irish folk music while pinning your ears back with a raucous, full-frontal rock sound. Guests on the album include Johnny Depp, members of The Dubliners, Thin Lizzy, and The Pogues.

Like a number of songs recorded by MacGowan's previous band, The Pogues, traditional tunes are sometimes used as a base for a new song. For example, the melody for "The Song With No Name" is based on "The Homes of Donegal".

    Didn't He Ramble

Didn't He Ramble, the second solo outing from acclaimed singer songwriter Glen Hansard, will be released September 18 via Anti- Records. The new album is his first in over three years and follows 2012's solo debut Rhythm & Repose, which Billboard hailed as "Hansard at his most engaging." Didn't He Ramble was produced by Thomas Bartlett (The National, Sufjan Stevens), a frequent collaborator of Hansard's, and Grammy winner and former Frames band-mate David Odlum (Paloma Faith, Tinariwen). The album, which was recorded in New York, Dublin, Chicago and France, is Hansard's most intimate and elegant record since his work in Once and features guest appearances by John Sheahan (Dubliners), Sam Beam (Iron and Wine) and Sam Amidon. Glen Hansard is the celebrated principal songwriter and vocalist/guitarist for the influential Irish group The Frames. Whether busking the streets of Dublin, where he got his start, or headlining a gig, Hansard has garnered a reputation as an unparalleled frontman. Hansard is also one half of the acclaimed duo The Swell Season. In 2007, he and Czech songstress MarkÉta Irglová took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Falling Slowly" off the Once soundtrack. In 2013,the Broadway adaptation, Once The Musical, won eight Tony Awards including the top musical prize. Most recently, Hansard has won critical acclaim for his moving interpretations of the songs of Jason Molina of Songs:Ohia.
