    Time To Die

A cultural as well as a musical force, ELECTRIC WIZARD has left an indelible mark on a host of different genres, the likes of doom, stoner and sludge; at heart, however, they stand as an iconic British metal band, cast in the great tradition, with lyrics and artwork reflecting the hypnotic weight of the music, and subject to the same intelligence and detail.

Wreathed in occult ritual and drug-culture references, with classic '70s horror an inspirational seam, ELECTRIC WIZARD is poised to turn a page; there's the new deal with Spinefarm Records, plus - after a nine-year hiatus - the return of Mark Greening (the drummer on Dopethrone), who completes the lineup of Oborn, American guitarist Liz Buckingham, a key member since 2003, and new bassist Clayton Burgess (SATAN'S SATYRS).

Fueled by strong emotion and the harder sounds of late-'60s Detroit, the remodeled lineup - isolated by choice, giant stacks glowing red - set about crafting an eighth studio album to both rival and exceed the milestone recordings of the past, with Buckingham keeping things suitably monolithic and the band generally looking back to some of their earliest influences. Toerag Studios in London was once again charged with capturing The Sound, and (encouragingly) words like raw, hateful and sickeningly heavy are being traded.

Founding member Jus Oborn said the following: All of our albums in the past have had a theme - revenge, drugs, black magick - and the theme of this one is death. Of course, death to us really means rebirth, so this album is a manifestation of a very primal occult belief in the final sacrifice. We have gone full circle - it was inevitable, but we had to do it. We had to kill the band so we could be reborn. It was the only way to ensure we could come back even stronger.

    Black Masses

For those who crave Sabbath-like dirges, Electric Wizard has few peers. - The Chicago Tribune

World-class British doom metal band Electric Wizard are back with their long-awaited new album Black Masses to be released courtesy of Metal Blade Records/Rise Above Records. The legendary group's seventh studio album was recorded with Grammy Award-winning British recording engineer Liam Watson (The White Stripes) in London's Toe Rag Studios. Long hailed as the true heirs to Black Sabbath, Electric Wizard have achieved near iconic status in the metal underground and the band prepares to annihilate the planet with Black Masses, their dark prayer to Luciferian heavy metal via crackling, vintage valve amplifiers set to full overdrive.

Propelled by gigantic riffs and dripping with dark, bluesy undertones, Black Masses is an ugly, sleazy and dirty album steeped in unruly themes of '70s exploitation cinema, occultism, substance abuse and narco-satanism. Taken as a whole, the record creates a twisted amalgam of late '60s dark acid psychedelia and early '80s satanic metal, all draped in both vile, misanthropic imagery and lyrics.

This ritual incantation of heavy metal sorcery will break down your psyche as wave upon crushing wave of lead weight acid-laced Doom leaves you numb and broken before our unholy altar, declared Electric Wizard cult leader Jus Oborn. Violent, bleak and ritualistic, we bow to the black altar of the riff. We do not rock, we kill!

    With The Dead

    Import

Supergroup is such an erroneous term - images of bored playboys pissing on their legacy spring to mind - but the members of With The Dead have a history of creating criminally good records as long as your arm. They've all served hard time in the subterranean worlds of Doom and the heaviest forms of Metal and have now reconvened to surpass previous projects. They're back - and this time the aim is To maim.

With The Dead were formed by the founding rhythm section of occultist Doom overloads Electric Wizard: guitarist/bassist Tim Bagshaw and drummer Mark Greening, a pair once notorious for the sheer brute heaviness of their bowel-shaking sound and early extra-curricular activities that involved excess, injury and low-level criminality (arrests for the theft of a crucifix from a church roof and drunkenly robbing an off-licence to name but two). Both have also played together in Ramesses.

Completing the triangle is frontman Lee Dorrian, co-founder of Doom pioneers Cathedral, former frontman with grindcore legends Napalm Death and owner of Rise Above Records, the UK's finest independent purveyors of all sounds heavy and underground, whose stable of bands include Ghost, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Lucifer, Blood Ceremony and Witchcraft. Having been in business since 1988, Rise Above is also one of the most enduring.

Existing doom-heads will already know that the longstanding relationship between Rise Above and Electric Wizard is one that was fractious and fraught. Much mud has been slung between band, label and former members in recent years, but the With The Dead trio are of the opinion that big words meant little - it's the action that truly counts. And as the fire that is Electric Wizard peters out, With The Dead burn with eyebrow-singeing intensity. With The Dead are heavy. No - scratch that. With The Dead are heavy. H.E.A.V.Y!!! They are a band with teeth and talons.

Like the product of some sort of alchemical alignment or a diabolical modern demon summoned by a whispered incantatory spell, With The Dead formed on All Hallow's Eve 2014. They worked quickly and the result is a six-track, self-titled debut broadside
that draws on the members' rich musical legacy but without ever taking a backward step. Rising like a fecund creature from the fetid bogs of old England, With The Dead is a malevolent beast that lurches and staggers, flattening everything in its path. Guitars moil and curdle, bubbling up through the loam like black tar, while existing fans will surely welcome the return of Dorrian's distinctly hateful vocals.

Any listener will be left battered on the floor, bludgeoned into submission by With The Dead's musical brutality. A new era is upon us.

    Die Screaming

Something sinister is looming in the mist - a ghastly three-headed apparition, equal parts riffage & rancour and fuelled by a steady diet of garage rock 7-inches played at 33RPM and horror movies watched at 5AM, the primeval force of Satan's Satyrs is returned to the earth to lay waste to everything in its path.

Rising from the primordial ooze of Herndon, Virginia Satan's Satyrs hit the metal underground like a tidal wave of sulphur with their debut proper, 2012's Wild Beyond Belief. This almighty assault, almost entirely the work of chief Satyr Clayton Burgess, was a harrowing blast of fuzz-drenched aggro - a clash of Venom-esque metalpunk squalor and in-the-red garage-rock dementia.

With Jarrett Nettnin soon joining the fray on guitar and Stephen Fairfield on drums, the power-trio were soon invited by Electric Wizard to 2013's Roadburn Festival, which they graced with two scorching sets, one being entirely comprised of cuts by their heinous heroes Blue Cheer. Yet the three-piece, despite being barely into their twenties, weren't about to rest on their laurels. What's more, the result of their onward march into grisly pastures new is the more mature yet no less malicious new opus, 'Die Screaming' which sees it's European release via Bad Omen Records in 2014.

This time around, the band set about expanding their sound, maintaining their trash-obsessed aesthetic whilst sharpening their songcraft to produce an album possessed of both mighty heaviosity and incisive hooks. Bolstered by roaring Hammond and percussive ornamentation that bring still more Hammer Horror atmosphere to the fray, 'Die Screaming' transcends the band's Black Sabbath, Stooges and Black Flag influences to arrive at a relentlessly gory and gung-ho assault on the senses. One minute, this terror-troupe are dishing out the rotten rock n'roll of 'One By One (They Die) and Curse Of The Corpse, which stalk the Earth like the reanimated corpses of Budgie and Blue Oyster Cult records past. The next, on the jaw-dropping title-track, they're throwing Death SS, the Alice Cooper of Sick Things and Scott Reagers-era Saint Vitus into a bubbling cauldron and standing well back. Yet at all times Satan's Satyrs' gonzo attack is authentically red in both tooth and claw.

Rising high above the overkill of self-styled occult rock that lurks in the underground at present. Satan's Satyrs are blazing a trail through a nightmarish world of battered VHS videos, overheated ampstacks and dog-eared vinyl, and are a band fit to set the pulse of any self-respecting trash connoisseur racing. With 'Die Screaming', they're set to carry out the Devil's bidding across the globe with uniquely sordid and salacious style.

    Pusher Man

    Limited Edition Pressing

Everybody's favourite band, Uncle Acid, release a new single, Pusher Man on Rise Above Records. The single is backed by Remember Tomorrow, an Iron Maiden cover, initially available on a Kerrang (legendary UK magazine) cover-mount CD.

Pusher Man is taken from the bands fourth album, The Night Creeper, which was released to much acclaim in July of last year. The track was recorded as part of the album sessions at Toe Rag Studios in early 2015 with engineer Liam Watson (White Stripes, Tame Impala, Electric Wizard).

They released their breakthrough album Blood Lust in 2011, a homage to British Hammer and folk horror films of the 1970s, a candle-lit head-trip of withered hands, ritual knives and gallows ropes. Mind Control (2013), their third album, looked further afield, to the post-Charles Manson US for inspiration: Jim Jones dosing the Kool-Aid. Blue Cheer, Blue Oyster Cult and B-movie biker movies. War, Watergate, serial killers and suicidal TV evangelists.

    Seismic

A good two decades after forming, Toronto ON's Sons of Otis have evolved but stayed true to their roots by keeping things simple, engaging and absolutely bone-crushing. Seismic is an album of solid, bombastic steamroller rock'n'roll - slow, but deadly to anything in its path. It's like Negative Reaction had a kid with Electric Wizard that was all heavy riffs and psychedelic psychosis, ready to rumble at the ring of the bell. Things even get Blue Cheer-y on the stomping, fuzz-laden rocker, "Never in My Life," and a bit of Led Zeppelin blues comes out in the closing "Cosmic Jam." Crack 'em open, light 'em up and brace yourself for the earthquake, because it's coming.

    The Night Creeper

The Night Creeper is the new album by Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats. Contained within are ten tracks of the type of sonic psyche-frazzling heaviness and blood-drenched pop that have made Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats one of Britains great cult bands.

Recorded at Toe Rag studios in early 2015 with engineer Liam Watson (White Stripes, Tame Impala, Electric Wizard), their fourth opus The Night Creeper, finds the quartet in full-on deatripping, third eye-widening mode. Here songs ooze louche evil over flesh-melting riffs that creep like hot magma bubbling up through the earths crust at their own malevolent pace. This album is in no hurry to destroy you. But it will. It will.
In an age when the word is over-used, Uncle Acid are indeed a true cult. Everything they do is covert, their movements crepuscular, the loyalty they inspire fervent. Every sneering melody and every piece of artwork is loaded with meaning, designed to be pored over. Their press coverage is deliberately limited but doesnt prevent them selling out US tours or joining Black Sabbath at their personal request. They only reveal what they want to reveal: chiefly that Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats began as a studio project circa 2009 in Cambridge, the wild concept of Kevin Starrs. The rest is academic.

Limited Edition Double Gatefold And Opaque Purple Vinyl Reissue

'Heart of Oak', the stunning Season of Mist debut full-length from ANCIIENTS, is one of 2013's most anticipated albums for a reason. The acutely modern, progressive quartet craft songs as nuanced and expressive as the range of human emotion, without eschewing their hard rock/heavy metal roots. Unforgettable tracks such as Raise the Sun, Falling in Line, The Longest River, and Faith & Oath hit hard and resonate deeply. With 'Heart of Oak' as their calling card, ANCIIENTS exude class and the confidence of a band beyond their years.
One of 2013's most anticipated albums - Decibel magazine (US)

'Heart of Oak' was produced by the band, and engineered by Jesse Gander (JAPANDROIDS, BISON B.C.) at The Hive Creative Labs (BLACK MOUNTAIN, NOMEANSNO) in Vancouver, Canada in Winter 2011/2012, and mastered by Alan Douches (MASTODON, BARONESS, CLUTCH) at WestWestside music. The album artwork was drawn by illustrator Alison Lilly.

    God Luck And Good Speed

Nearly five years after their second CD, the underrated Sixteen Tons, was seemingly flushed like so much unwanted bong water down the toilet of stoner rock's decline in popularity, the members of North Carolina's Weedeater found the strength to roll up a new one after hooking up with the Southern Lord label, and duly re-emerged with a hell of a comeback album. In fact, it's' a good bet that their invariably baked fan contingent would likely bestow 2007's God Luck and Good Speed with the highest possible honor of calling it really good shit, full-to-bursting with coarse, crusty, stoner sludgecore of the highest market value. This becomes immediately apparent on the album's impressive opening triple threat -- the earth-shaking grooves of the title track, the uproarious speed-blast of Wizard Fight, and the groove-driven laughs of For Evan's Sake -- all of which surf on surging waves of feedback, their tendrils forming dirty electric causeways for an extended, uninterrupted buzz. Then suddenly, all is quiet for the one-off austerity of Alone, featuring only a banjo, an acoustic bass, and vocalist Dixie Dave Collins replacing his trademark croak with a drunken baritone à la Tom Waits, stinking drunk out on the bayou. (Curiously, this track alone was recorded by Corrosion of Conformity's Mike Dean, while the rest of the album was produced by indie rock staple Steve Albini.) Punishing, viscous volume and distortion are resumed by subsequent aural bulldozers like the instrumental $20 Peanut, the doomy but somewhat dull Dirt Merchant, and the oddly named epic Weed Monkey (all interlocked by even more feedback, naturally). And to emphasize their sub-Mason Dixon line allegiance, Weedeater deliver an aptly sludge-encrusted cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Gimme Back My Bullets as sung by Swamp Thing. Final verdict? The wait was worth it: God Luck and Good Speed is definitely some of Weedeater's strongest stuff yet.

Emanations is the sophomore album from NYC doom super group SERPENTINE PATH. The band's 2012 self-titled debut was a boldly grim statement of unforgiving misanthropy that referenced both the filthy riffs of Autopsy and the stoney doom of Sleep. Now officially augmented by second guitarist Stephen Flam, the mastermind behind NYC doom/death legends Winter, SERPENTINE PATH are truly a heavy metal all-star team (the band also features current and former members of doom legends Electric Wizard, Unearthly Trance and Ramesses). Sure, the pedigree is undeniable, but regardless of their 'members of' status, SERPENTINE PATH are one of the heaviest bands on the planet today!

With a pedigree that boasts all three members of New York's cult doom band Unearthly Trance plus founding Electric Wizard and Ramesses bassist/guitarist Tim Bagshaw, Serpentine Path's self-titled debut should immediately top any doom-metal fan's want-list. Sounding like way more than the sum of its parts, Serpentine Path is an absolutely crushing album which both references and reinterprets its members' previous bands, but with a decidedly more punishing death-metal approach. Vicious vocals combine with downtuned guitars that rip out punishingly killer riffs to create an overall evil vibe that's equal parts Paranoid and Severed Surival. Dark Red

Dark Red is the second full-length album from Shlohmo, aka 25 year-old Los Angeles native Henry Laufer. The album is an uncanny marriage of his ever-evolving, richly textured sound with shades of 90s IDM, R&B, cassette-tape Jungle, and, in an unexpected turn, sludge metal. "It sounds like if Electric Wizard tried to make an R&B record," he says, "or Boards of Canada meets Burzum by the River Styx." Shlohmo's music thus far exists in the poles between the subtle textured tracks of 2011's Bad Vibes and the booming sinister synths and hihats of his production work and remixes (split EP with Jeremih, Banks' "Brain", remixes for Drake + The Weeknd). Dark Red utilizes Shlohmo's existing palate but also mines the noises and imperfections inherent in analog production and naturally damaged sounds. Side-stepping current trends that lean towards pristine, computer-generated production, Dark Red explores natural distortion, fuzz and noise as compositional tools, intentionally distressing sounds to echo the feeling of the icy menace and emotional charge found on early black metal tapes. The result is a deeply personal listen, Shlohmo's boldest statement yet.

    In Memoriam

As with a choice few truly great bands, the first self- financed cassette recording by Cathedral - made available in October 1990 - was a pioneering underground masterpiece in its own right; the sound of a young band exploring its newfound chemistry, finding confident variations on a flawless list of influences and cultivating a sound and style that would prove hugely inspirational throughout the 1990s and beyond, being a major influence on everyone from Electric Wizard through to Reverend Bizarre.

Where most demos are little more than a dry run for the first album, 'In Memoriam' still has its own distinct and important identity in the Cathedral canon. The debut LP that followed, 'Forest Of Equilibrium', has a sombre, devout, melodic and mystical grandeur all of its own - but 'In Memoriam' has a far murkier, earthier, more deathly intent.

Creepy, cryptic and bowel- looseningly heavy, it represents the first time that the doom metal stylings of Trouble, Saint Vitus, Pentagram and Witchfinder General had been rendered in a new, more extreme metallic form.

At the beginning of the new decade, it was really only Cathedral who were proud to assert the influence of true doom metal - a perennially unfashionable genre, but especially in a turn-of-the-decade metal scene so obsessed with speed, technicality, brutality and modernity.

    Vessel

The first track of Vessels, "Fear the Followers", comes in with tight frantic riffing coupled by a stark immediate thrash part. The song, bordering on hardcore underneath, is screamed in two separate distinct voices; one being a screechier version of the lower growls. A strict delivery of sharp metalcore is prevalent. But then the middle dips into some Sabbath swings before further slowing with cymbals crashing and synths.

Track two, "Buried in the City", however exploits the notion of the riff and just goes full throttle doom metal. The tidal journey is engrossing, barbaric! Without rehashing any hacked riff, Cokegoat comes in with snarling bit of doom metal. It carries significant weight as a tribute to classic sounds while approaching them differently. The layered vocal and galloping metal guitars spark the energy of the finish.

"Dogs" contrasts that with a cosmic synth aura and a taut minimalist riff approach for a tense 3 minutes. Then the explosion of a sinister 1970's free-wheeling riff takes center stage. All of which are to be manipulated into an Unsane, Faith No More ("Malpractice, "Caffeine") ugly place. Eventually, among static shorelines, we get a dreamy recoil into a bluesy meandering.

Cokegoat begs you to pinpoint them, not by album but by the minute.

There are continuous bounces from Strife type hardcore intros (I swear) to scathing black metal nods. Usually bands that boast that spectrum of influence are raw and crusty and loose in the production. This is tight as sutures. Andy Nelson of Weekend Nachos engineered this and Carl Saff (Unsane, Red Fang, Earthless) mastered the final sound for this. Not surprising. Heavy is a key factor in Vessels.

Vessels is one hell of a debut. This bitch has balls. But quickly flashes some groove. "The End of Your Life Pt 2" is controlled chaos. It also is one of two 2-part songs. Yeah. This is foresight, ambition, ardor and grit in this album. Here we have "three guitarists, three voices, synths, bass and drums," kept on a production leash that adds an urgency to the manic time changes. Which crush. The atmospheric layers are just touches. They add mood but never take center stage. This is about riffs, but Cokegoat know where to accent their talents as well.

    Had To Cry Today

Blues-rock guitar wizard Joe Bonamassa can make a set of electric six-strings burn and wail, but like many such guitarists, he still requires focus for it to be truly special. Such intense focus is a hallmark of Had To Cry Today. While some guitarists squander notes, Bonamassa makes each one count whether he's engaging in country-flavored picking (the late, great Danny Gatton was clearly an influence), blistering rock-edged blues, or turbulent, inspired jamming. Had To Cry Today delivers on Bonamassa's previous promise in a big way.

    Love From With The Dead

With the Dead - Love From With the Dead

Doom is all around us. The optimism of a new millennium has steadily disintegrated. The light at the end of the tunnel turned out to be a burning tower block and the powers-that-be are dancing in the smouldering ruins. Humanity is eating itself and we're all terminally fucked. As a result, it makes perfect sense that the emergence of British doom metal mavens With The Dead would strike a dissonant chord with so many people. Formed in 2014 by former Cathedral/Napalm Death frontman and Rise Above Records boss Lee Dorrian and ex-Electric Wizard/Ramesses bassisit/guitarist Tim Bagshaw, the band coalesced in a monetary burst of spontaneity and shared fury, resulting in the release of their eponymous debut album in 2015: one of that year's most widely acclaimed releases and a welcome shot in the arm for fans of merciless, unrelenting sonic despair.

"We were very happy with the way the first album was received," says Lee. "To be honest, there were no real expectations with the first LP. It's hard to explain. We just got together and did it. There was no big anticipation. We knew it was going to be well received by certain people, just because of the sheer heaviness of it, but we didn't think it would get the reaction it did. It sold really well and got a good response all around. It came together so strangely and so fast. We hadn't gone round, sweating in the clubs, although we've all done that previously. The record came out on Rise Above so it was easy and there were no demands from anyone except ourselves. The important thing is, we didn't want it to be seen as some novelty project band."

Hell-bent on staking a further claim to be doom metal's most intense and remorseless practitioners, With The Dead have now completed work on their second album, Love From With The Dead. Comprising tracks recorded during two separate sessions with celebrated studio guru Jaime Gomez Arellano, the new material represents the first fruits of the band's recently retooled line-up. Joining Lee and Tim are bassist Leo Smee and drummer Alex Thomas, who replaces the departed Mark Greening. As Lee explains, the band's new incarnation generated great chemistry from the start.

"Tim came over from New Jersey, where he still lives, and we booked four nights' rehearsals with Leo and Alex to see how it was going to work. Literally, on the first night, they had the whole set nailed within three or four hours. It sounded better than ever before, too. So the next three nights were pointless and we didn't need them, so we spent the time going over ideas for new songs and by the end we had four brand new songs. It was crazy. Then we thought 'While Tim's over, let's go in the studio and record them ' Luckily, Gomez was free and we went over to his studio and recorded the four new tracks, they're the last four on the album, and it was all done just like that. The other three tracks were recorded nearly a year later, again with just one night's rehearsal. It was all done super quick."

For those who flinched at the sheer, unforgiving brutality of With The Dead's first record, the songs on Love From With The Dead are liable to cause major emotional trauma. Darker, denser, more despondent and sickeningly heavy in numerous senses of the word, this is an album that re-establishes doom as a genre that embraces the extreme and not just some cosy, nostalgic reimagining of the early '70s. From opener Isolation's slithering howl of torment and the crushing, schizophrenic barrage of Egyptian Tomb through to the expansive, drone-driven horrors of the closing CV1 (a mournful lament to Lee Dorrian's home city of Coventry that features a guest appearance by home-town comrade and electro-noise maverick Russell Haswell), Love From With The Dead grimly extinguishes the light of hope and hammers home the hatred and futility that plagues our brief and brittle lives.

"The thinking was that the first LP was meant to be the heaviest we could possibly make, but then what do you next?" Lee muses. "Well, the only thing you can do is make the next one even heavier. So that was the ambition and the intention, to make it even more crushing. But to be able to do that you have to be crushed yourself. This last couple of years have been quite soul-destroying. There's been a lot of personal shit going on, and during this whole process so much fucking bad shit has happened in my personal life and other people's personal lives. Everything you hear on this LP, the angst is very real. I've never felt so disillusioned with life and the world around me, not since the first Cathedral album!"

Irrefutable evidence that With The Dead are a formidable and substantial proposition, the quartet's second album could hardly provide a more apposite soundtrack to the deeply fucked up and irrevocably dysfunctional state of the world in 2017. Both a fine example of the simple, savage power of the riff and an authentic outpouring of anger, bitterness, bile and vivid existential dread, it is the living, breathing, screaming embodiment of heaviness itself. Cometh the hour, cometh the bringers of doom

"I'm 50 next year and you're supposed to mellow out when you get older, but why?" Lee asks. "I don't feel like mellowing out. The world's getting worse, the atmosphere is getting heavier, people treat each other like shit and there's so much negativity, how are you supposed to chill out when all that's going on? I'm in a privileged position to be able to be in a band like this, so why fuck around? The band's called With The Dead and it's a doom band, why would you want to mellow out? It's got to be pure nihilism or nothing."

    Poor David's Almanack

Guitar man David Rawlings leaves the Machine moniker behind for his third album, Poor David's Almanack, a wry mixture of acoustic and electric performances rich in ageless American vernacular. Gloriously captured on analog tape by studio wizards Ken Scott and Matt Andrews, the ten new songs took shape in a rollicking weeklong session at Woodland Sound Studios in Nashville, Tennessee where Rawlings and longtime compatriot Gillian Welch joined together with Willie Watson, Paul Kowert, Brittany Haas, Ketch Secor, and Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith to produce an album for all seasons.

    Grow Slow

There was once a young African princess who embarked on a huge journey in pursuit of her dreams. She arrived at a mystical island covered in clouds where she met a cunning wizard...Sounds like the beginning of some Disney fantasy but the truth is not so different. The Princess is Sena who came from Accra, Ghana to a festival in the centre of Budapest, Hungary and met a musical wizard by the name of DJ Vadim... that was in 2005. What happened that night was the meeting not only of like minded souls, but the beginning of a future journey into sound and space. First came recordings for Vadim for the Soundcatcher album Talk To Me (2007 BBE) which was much lauded by Gilles Peterson at the time... Which led to a long process of creating an album. Much happened in between. Each had many of their own adventures.Grammy Award shows, sell out arena shows for Sena's band in Hungary - Irie Mafia - plus the birth of her beautiful daughter Kekeli and the release of her second solo album Lots Of Trees on French Soulbeats Records; world wide shenanagins for DJ Vadim with his groups, One Self, The Electric and many solo projects...Perhaps a good analogy would be the perfect pasta. One needs both to cook it exactly, not too hard or too soft and also a complimentary sauce. It takes time, love, effort and good ingredients. What's the result, simple but delicious and what a perfect combination Sena & Vadim make also.Perhaps add some chile pepper to bring out the African funk mixed with London tricknology from the grimey east London hoods and that's what it sounds like. It's not just soul but has a peppery kick, a proud African roar with somewhat a Caribbean touch. Then again, that's the Dubcatcher Vadim bringing his bass and skank to the mix. This isn't rose tinted squeaky clean US R&B, this is a diamond in the ruff worldly spoken words, raps and emotions...Think Erykah Badu meets Damian Marley over the new upsetter hot steppa DJ Vadim...

Like Some Kind Of Alien Invasion

With a musical career spanning more than thirty-five years, guitarist, sonic innovator, and two time Grammy nominee Tim Reynolds is known for his masterful command of melody and timing and for his uncanny ability to improvise on any instrument he touches. Having explored most musical styles, from rock, jazz and blues to classical and reggae, Reynolds' wide-ranging musical versatility is evident each time he picks up his electric or acoustic guitar. Technically brilliant, yet emotionally honest, Reynolds' music is inspired and authentic.

It was in the mid 1980s in Charlottesville, VA, when Reynolds founded his breakthrough electric power trio, TR3 (Tim Reynolds 3), known for their fusion of funk, rock, and jazz. He toured with TR3 during the 1980s and 1990s, using a rotating cast of musicians. It was at this time that he befriended Dave Matthews and their ongoing musical collaboration began. Tim eventually decided to relocate to Santa Fe, NM, and pursue a solo career. His musical progression continued throughout his many years on the road as a solo guitar wizard, playing for packed houses and to crowds who quickly determined that Reynolds is one of the most talented and thoughtful musicians on the circuit today. After a number of years in New Mexico, Reynolds relocated to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 2007. After a chance meeting with two talented musicians, bass player
Mick Vaughn and drummer Dan Martier, a few rehearsals later and several stealth appearances throughout North Carolina, Reynolds decided to resurrect the electric TR3 and they've been touring ever since.
