Composed and produced by Luke Abbott in full, the LP picks up where his previous record left off. 'Music For A Flat Landscape' is a set of beautiful, meditative electronic music that shows Luke Abbott is a composer and musician at his zenith. The music was awarded 'Best Soundtrack' at the Stockholm Film Festival in late 2014.

LP reissue of the 1997 classic debut album. When they met in the mid-1990s, Thievery Corporation's Eric Hilton and Rob Garza instantly bonded over their shared passion for bossa nova. Dedicating
their 1996 debut Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi to bossa nova pioneer Antonio Carlos Jobim, the Washington, D.C.-based duo have spent nearly two

    Tremors

Signed to 4AD in April 2013, SOHN is an English
musician, songwriter and producer based in
Vienna, Austria. Tremors is SOHN's debut album.

Informed by a rich legacy of electronic music, SOHN
creates a sound that blends his haunting vocals with
a backdrop of analogue drum machines and synths,
which makes nods to the past, but always forges
forward into the new. Aside from emphasising the
soulfulness of his voice, his lyrics expertly play with
the phonetics of language, wrapping his sonorous
vocals around the gaps between sentences and
    lending those words more prominence.

    A Moment Apart

ODESZA (Harrison Mills, Clayton Knight) is one of the most celebrated groups in electronic music, winning over fans online and at their consistently sold-out live shows. Today, they announced their new 16-track album 'A Moment Apart' out September 8 on Counter Records (a Ninja Tune imprint) and a world tour to immediately follow. 'A Moment Apart' represents ODESZA's growth, delivering a more mature sound through weighted atmospheres, shimmering synth lines and familiar feelings of nostalgia, optimism, and hope. The album's featured guests include Leon Bridges, Regina Spektor, and RY X, creating an eclectic mix that showcases ODESZA's dynamic range.

Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere. - Carl Sagan

Sagan Youth have traveled many light-years and have many more to go...The duo's second full-length release Cela is a 10-song science-fiction concept album chronicling the journey to and exploration of Saturn's icy moon Enceladus. The story is portrayed not only through vividly emotive tracks but also by an intricate comic which graces the inside of the album's gatefold sleeve. Cela was laboriously recorded using only analog synthesizers, effects, and tape units, creating a complex tapestry of organically evolving overtones. Drawing upon the rich history of electronic music, from mid-20th century avant-garde to hypnotic Komische, Sagan Youth create idiosyncratic electronic expressions. They fluidly modulate between different soundscapes and emotional timbres, but always with underlying themes of compassionate questioning, open-mindedness, and an awe of Nature.

    Equatorial Stars

Music performed and composed by Robert Fripp & Brian Eno

Brian Eno is usually credited with the claim that everyone who originally bought a Velvet Underground album subsequently formed a band. It's no less valid to suggest that many of those involved in electronic music might not have been but for "No Pussyfooting" and "Evening Star". Indeed few contemporary albums can claim as much lasting influence as "No Pussyfooting" by Fripp & Eno. It's safe to say that for the vast majority of buyers at the time of its initial release in 1973, this was their first exposure to the small world of electronic music. It's equally safe to say it wasn't their last. The equipment used was, by modern standards, primitive. The ideas expressed were, by any standards, enormous. Many went on to have careers based on the possibilities suggested by the album. Fripp & Eno - to their eternal credit - were too busy working as musicians to ever 'milk it' in that sense. One further full album, "Evening Star", was issued in 1975. There were occasional collaborations, but no further recordings under the Fripp & Eno banner until the emergence of "The Equatorial Stars" in late 2004 as a limited edition release via the artists' websites, followed by a full release in 2005 on CD.

However, it was never issued on vinyl, until now.

"The Equatorial Stars" consists of a series of seven soundscapes. The evident care taken in the construction & presentation of the sound world makes the totality of the work so convincing. The textures & atmospheres forming the heart of each track manage to subtly change & alter, while leaving ample space for Robert's guitar solos to emerge from the centre. The album was Fripp & Eno's opportunity to redefine an area of music they helped to launch into the mainstream in the first instance.

It is also, incidentally, Robert Fripp's personal favourite of his many collaborations with Brian Eno.

    The Diver

Led Er Est emerged from a series of jam sessions that core members Shawn O'Sullivan and Sam De La Rosa started having in early 2007, using bass guitar, some cheap drum machines and synths. They were inspired to record music largely by '70s synth-prog, and '80s lo-fi electronic and industrial music.

They recorded a number of songs at friend Will Burnett's studio that Fall. Their first officially released track was on the Wierd Records compilation, Analogue Electronic Music Vol II. Owen Hutchinson joined the band for their first live show at the Wierd party that December. In January of 2008, they released their first 7, a split with Excepter member Jon Porkchop aka SSPS.

Throughout 2008 and 2009 they self-recorded their first album, Dust on Common, which Wierd Records released in Nov. of 2009. In the Spring of 2010, they toured Europe with Xeno and Oaklander, playing shows in the UK , Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Italy. Subsequently they released a 7 and then the May EP on Captured Tracks. Led Er Est did a brief west coast run with Soft Moon last fall and just played SXSW.

On stage and in the studio Led Er Est create a thick wall of atmospheric soundscapes using vintage analog recording devices, samplers and synths while using sci-fi soundtracks and cold wave as reference points. Led Er Est's sophomore full-length album, The Diver, was mixed by Chris Coady and will be released courtesy of Sacred Bones Records.

As a direct result of The Beatles' keen curiosity about experimental music and other avant-garde artistic expression, Apple Records launched its short-lived Zapple subsidiary in February 1969 as a forum for unfettered sonic exploration, or, as announced at the time, 'more freaky sounds'. George's Electronic Sound and John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Unfinished Music No. 2: Life With The Lions, both released in May 1969, were Zapple's only releases before it was closed down. Electronic Sound's cover art, painted by George, depicts his Moog IIIP (which was later used on four tracks by The Beatles on their album Abbey Road) with the four modules from which the sound was synthesized. Each side of the Electronic Sound LP featured one exploratory long-form work. However, the American version of the album placed the pieces on opposite sides to the UK record, but with the same titles retained on the labels. Consequently, there has been confusion about which track is which. Research revealed that the UK LP was correct with 'Under The Mersey Wall' on Side 1 and No Time Or Space on Side 2.

    Music

Ranked 452/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Music is the eighth studio album by American singer-songwriter Madonna, released on September 19, 2000 by Maverick Records and distributed by Warner Bros. Records. Following the success of her previous album Ray of Light, she intended to embark in a tour. However, her record company encouraged her to return to the studio and record new music before going on the road. After filming the film The Next Best Thing, she began working on her new album, with producers like Mirwais Ahmadzaï, William Orbit, Guy Sigsworth, Mark Spike Stent and Talvin Singh. Music has an overall electronic and dance-pop vibe. However, the album also contains elements of rock, country and folk, also including the use of vocoder on many tracks, such as Nobody's Perfect.

Upon its release, the album received universal acclaim from critics, who praised Madonna's collaboration with Mirwais Ahmadzaï, as well as the album's musical creativity, however criticizing Madonna's collaborations with William Orbit, despite calling them catchy. It was nominated for a total of five Grammys at the 43rd Grammy Awards, although it eventually won only one award. Music debuted at number one in over 23 countries around the world, and was Madonna's first album to reach the top of the Billboard 200 in 11 years since Like a Prayer (1989), being certified three times platinum the Recording Industry Association of America. The album also peaked number one in the United Kingdom, being certified five times platinum.

    Trans-Millenia Music

Otherworldly and anomalous, hushed and hallucinatory, Pauline Anna Strom's unique style of inner space music reaches across time to futures and pasts far from our own. Trans-Millenia Music compiles 80 minutes of Strom's most evocative work, composed and recorded between 1982 and 1988 across seven albums released in minimal vinyl and cassette editions. Strom's heightened sensitivity to sound and spirited sensibility with the primal synthesizer tools of her trade elevates this music beyond the catch-all containers of New Age and ambient music into a realm of its own. RVNG's double LP collection features original artwork by visionary Karma Moffett, printed inner sleeves, and a booklet with extensive liner notes scribed by Britt Brown.

    Music To Draw To: Satellite

Kid Koala's Music To Draw To: Satellite is an uncharted musical journey for the legendary scratch DJ, producer, and composer. Kid Koala's fifth studio album is an expansive work of ambient electronic soundscapes and chilling ballads sung by Icelandic artist Emiliana Torrini. Created during the gelid Montreal winter, its eighteen movements tell a tale of discovery and loss through the lens of lovers separated by an early space mission to Mars. An album of many firsts for Eric San, this inaugural volume in the Music To Draw To series features Kid Koala collaborating with a vocalist, writing lyrical poetry, and producing and performing all instruments. Satellite is the renowned audio-collagist's first non-sample-based record, instead using an array of synthesizers, keys, guitars, strings, turntables, noisemakers and San's inventive recording techniques to lay out this heartrending musical story. The output is in stark, beautiful comparison an ambient masterpiece: over 72 atmospheric minutes of stardust settling over Kid Koala's trove of turntables and sentiment.

Library Catalog Music Series Volume 7: Music For Paradise Armor

Instruments of Science & Technology's Richard Swift (born Ricardo Sigilfredo Olivarez Swift-Ochoa, 1977) lives in the NW region of the U.S. He's made lots of different music. He normally sings, but not here. Music for Paradise Armor was made on varying mediums, a Tascam 4-track, an Otari 50/50 8-track, a 16-track machine by Studer and computer by Macintosh. There are, what Swift calls, modern clickity-clacks, zzzoops s s s and the occasional bleep bleep blaaaaap here. These sounds aim to reflect tech-centric life in the West.

When a broken finger hampered his ability to fret a guitar properly, Richard Swift returned to project B., an electronic endeavor titled Instruments of Science & Technology. Swift's second release under this moniker is a part of Asthmatic Kitty's Library Catalog Music series, and like the other volumes (which include contributions by Roberto Carlos Lange and James McAlister) it is comprised of meditative background instrumentals. Following format, Volume 7: Music for a Paradise Armor is a throwback to the spaced-out electronica and analog synthesizer sounds of the `70s. It's an unintrusive type of soundtrack that never demands attention, but washes by in a quick rush. Recorded using entirely analog equipment and tape machines (with some Mac Book assistance) the songs are filled with thumping ping-pong beats and synthesized textures that bear a resemblance to the deceptively complex soundscapes of Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk, or the Moog-style blips of circuit wizards Bruce Haack and Hot Butter. Comparatively, this outing is a little more ambient and sparse than the Music from the Films of R/Swift was, with an otherworldly German flavor. It's also other-timely; evoking a time when video games were played with paddles, presumably in a room with shag carpeting. ~ Jason Lymangrover

    Melco N1Z/2 Hardware

Melco N1Z/2 is the flagship of the new Mk2 series. True audiophile source components designed for both Ethernet connected Players (Streamers) and for connection to a USB connected DAC. The N1Z/2 is constructed as a true Hi-Fi source component with heavy anodised aluminium chassis sections bead blasted to a delightful finish, and with an internal rigid H frame to isolate vibration and isolate the various sections of the hardware. Twin power supplies with additional capacitor banks with audio grade film capacitors isolate the HDD from the data processing, and multiple stages of noise reduction and isolation ensure the quietest possible environment for the sensitive electronics. A precision low jitter clock handles the data flow whether to the USB-DAC or the Ethernet player. The drives are mounted on massive non-magnetic foundation plate, and the N1ZS20 uses 2nd generation SSD which is quite unlike IT SSD which seriously compromise sound quality. The SSDS are format as RAID 0 for optimum sound quality. The N1ZH has SFF drives - which are much less electrical noise than conventional 3.5 inch HDD. Operation of the N1Z is very convenient, with a dedicated Neutrik USB 2.0 port for a DAC, and then 3 USB 3.0 ports for Easy backup, Easy Expansion, Easy Import of CD or from USB drives, Easy Play without import from USB drives or CD loader so that a legacy CD collection can benefit from the latest DAC technology. All without ant require men for a PC or any IT type devices.

INST sounds like Brian Eno and Wendy Carlos had a love child in the 70s and subsequently marooned him/her/it on an Oort Cloud. This largely instrumental electronic project may seem out of character for Richard Swift, with his unmistakable beautiful singing voice, melancholic lyrics, and sophisticated songwriting. With this release, he has resurrected the earliest forms of electronic music, thrown in a few dashes of dub, hip-hop, kraut-rock, and Motown, and created a new hybrid dish. For fans of Re/Search curiosities and other weird, ambient, and electronic headphone arts directed just outside the third eye.

Three Worlds: Music From Woolf Works

Following the success of SLEEP, Max Richter reveals his latest recording project - a new album entitled Three Worlds: music from Woolf Works. It's drawn from his music to Wayne McGregor's award-winning Royal Ballet production Woolf Works - inspired by the works of Virginia Woolf - and will be released on Deutsche Grammophon.

Just like the ballet, Richter's new album has a three-part structure, built around themes from three of Woolf's novels: Mrs. Dalloway, Orlando and The Waves. Fragments from her letters, diaries and other writings are woven into the work, with spoken words from Gillian Anderson, Sarah Sutcliffe and even Virginia Woolf's own voice, reading the essay 'Craftsmanship' from a 1937 BBC recording.

Max Richter explains: "When we began to discuss making the ballet, I hunted around for material of all kinds, photographs, memoirs, biographies. I never expected to find a recording of Virginia Woolf - this is the only one to survive. It's like a tremendous time machine which allows you to hear her voice and wonderful use of language. I've used spoken-word elements quite often in my work, so to come across Virginia Woolf reading her own words was like a Christmas present. That lit the fuse for the musical language of the ballet's first act, based on Mrs. Dalloway, and the piece grew from there."

Richter's new album, which stems from his longer score for Woolf Works, features a vast palette of sounds - from solo instrumental and orchestral episodes, to electronic textures and music for wordless soprano. It opens with the chime of Big Ben, whose unmistakeable sound can still be heard above the noise of London traffic from the distance of Gordon Square in Bloomsbury, where Virginia Woolf lived before her marriage to Leonard Woolf.

Woolf's suicide note, her heart-rending farewell letter to her husband, read by Gillian Anderson, sets the contemplative atmosphere for 'Tuesday', the album's final and longest track. The piece develops from the sound of breaking waves into a plaintive solo melody, constantly repeated yet ever-changing, and grows to become a dream-like meditation on life and death. "My approach goes back to the aesthetic pleasure of simple, well-made things," Richter observes. "I believe 'Tuesday' connects to minimalism in painting and architecture; within the realm of what people call spirituality, it connects to Zen Buddhism. All those things flow together in the striving for the maximum from the minimum."

Max Richter and Wayne McGregor are frequent collaborators. Richter wrote the scores for McGregor's ballets Infra and The Future Self, while McGregor staged Richter's recomposition of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and directed his chamber opera, Sum. Woolf Works was met with outstanding critical acclaim on its premiere in 2015, winning the Critics' Circle Award for Best Classical Choreography and the Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production.

Library Catalog Music Series Volume 8: Music For Dreaming And Playing

Kristin Miltner is a composer, video and installation artist and sound designer from Oakland, CA. She performs with custom software, designed to scan sound files and live input, allowing her to instantly restructure and sequence these sounds. Imagine a giant octopus in an infinitely long hallway with windows on each side. It runs up and down, opening and closing windows to let in a bit of water here and there, never stopping. There is a rhythm. The ocean is the sound source, the hallway and octopus are scanners, the windows are the input device, and the octopus's rhythm is the sequencer

Kristin Miltner, composer, programmer, musician, and videographer -- and one half of the duo Miba -- is responsible for Music for Dreaming and Playing, the eighth volume in Asthmatic Kitty's Library Catalog Music Series. Miltner's brand of electronic music, while gentle, usually quiet, and inviting, is performed via a software system of her own design that scans sound files and live input, thus allowing her to instantly restructure sounds into sequenced units of varying lengths and musical groupings. This is done while creating a rhythmic component comprising a seemingly endless series of sonic textures, spaces, and ambiences. She also often employs her singing voice, broken into single syllables and nonsensical utterances (as on the opener Melody from Dream) to deepen the proceedings. These pieces are easy to listen to because of the considerable restraint that goes into their presentation. Miltner's soundworlds are ambitious; they change quickly but seamlessly, moving from idea to idea with alacrity and an expert sense of control. The remarkable thing is that it's all live, on-the-spot recording. Clocking it at just under 40 minutes, Music for Dreaming and Playing comes across as a series of electronic songs, more than it does soundscapes. Their rhythmic components aside, there are melodies at work inside these (mostly) brief pieces -- check Altamont Pass, Space Shooter: Boy Avatar, Space Shooter: Girl Avatar, and the closer, Firefly's Flight Game Music. The element of surprise inherent in each track still leaves something lyrically retentive in the listener's ear. Music for Dreaming and Playing is one of the most successful volumes the Library Catalog Sound Series thus far. ~ Thom Jurek

An Evolutionary Music (Original Recordings: 1972 - 1979)

An Evolutionary Music (Original Recordings: 1972 - 1979) compiles
unreleased recordings from the archives of multiversal artist Ariel Kalma.
Concerned as much with musicality as spiritual facility, Kalma's work
vibrates aside fellow travelers along the great rainbow in curved air of
    the 1970s avant-garde.

Ariel Kalma's boundary-blurring electronic music is heard here in
radiant detail across a selection of work spanning his early free-jazz
and spoken word trips to his infinite modular synthesizer and primitive
drum machine meditations. Kalma's story is one of world travel, musical
discovery and ego-abandonment. Yet for an artist who often discarded
public recognition in favor of the ascetic truths in music making, An
Evolutionary Music offers the imprint of an outright auteur.

Born in France, but rarely in one place for long, Ariel Kalma's 1970s
migrations took flight through the decade's furthest spaces of musical
and spiritual invention. As a hired horn for well-known French groups,
the young musician toured as far as India, a place where Kalma would
learn circular breathing techniques enabling him to sustain notes without
pause against tape-looping harmonies configured through his homemade
    effects units.

Those effects evolved from Kalma's loyalty to a beloved dual ReVox
set-up- two tape machines "chained" together to form a primitive delay
unit. Over looped saxophone melodies, Kalma would mix in all shades of
polyphonic color, synthesizing fragments of poetry with ambient space or
setting modal flute melodies to rippling drum machine patterns and starlit
    field recordings.

In France during the mid-1970s, Kalma was staffed as a technician at
Pierre Henry's legendary Institut National Audiovisuel, Groupe de Recherches
Musicales (INA GRM) studios - the same music concrÉte laboratory that
spawned masterpieces by members Luc Ferrari, Iannis Xenakis, and Bernard
Parmegiani. Like his predecessors and colleagues at INA GRM, Kalma's
relationship to sound was both formal and non-hierarchical. To Kalma, all
music existed as related universal patterns, in perfect harmony with the
people, places and environments it was created.

Kalma's recorded output of the 1970s culminated in the now scarcely-available Les Temps des Moissons (trans. The Time of Harvest) in 1975,
and a masterpiece of birdsong exploration with Osmose in 1978. Osmose
is double album featuring sculptor Richard Tinti, who had supplied Kalma
with hours of field recordings from the rainforests of Borneo.

An Evolutionary Music harvests uncatalogued music made between
Kalma's private press records and onward through the many small-batch
cassette releases Kalma would tender. With this collection of musical
hybridity and distinct genre-corrosion, Ariel Kalma's righteous bucking of
both popular music trends and the academic tenets of the avant-garde
falls squarely in the spirit of other renegades of sacred new-music such as
Terry Riley, La Monte Young, and Charlemagne Palestine.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Plays The Music Of Rush

Purple Pyramid Records, a division of Cleopatra Records, will release The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Plays The Music Of Rush on November 13. Nearly sixty musicians and thirty vocalists transform nine of Rush's greatest hits into even more intricate, soaring orchestral works.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra covers the best-known classics, from Working Man, the self-titled debut album track that launched Rush's career in the U.S. to Subdivisions from Signals, the album that proved electronic rock could reside in the top ten. The band's most successful record, Moving Pictures, is represented by rousing versions of Tom Sawyer and Red Barchetta. Special guest guitarists include Steve Rothery of Marillion on Working Man and Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden on Red Barchetta. The Windrush Choir provides backing vocals and solos.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, formed in 1946 and based in London, has been called the nation's favorite orchestra. It has had internationally known maestros like Andre Previn and Louis Clark, and has toured the world. The RPO is a best-selling and adventurous recording entity as well. In 1969, it recorded a concerto for Deep Purple, composed by the band's organist Jon Lord. It earned a top ten U.S. single in 1982 with Hooked On Classics. Over the years, RPO has orchestrally arranged Pink Floyd, Oasis, Queen, R.E.M., Madonna and ABBA.

The orchestra was recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, conducted by BAFTA Award-winning musician and composer Richard Harvey. Harvey performed with the prog rock group Gryphon and as an accomplished multi-instrumentalist (specializing in mediaeval and Renaissance periods), worked with many folk and rock musicians such as Richard and Linda Thompson, Kate Bush and Sweet. He has toured and recorded with John Williams, and has performed and composed film/TV soundtracks for more than thirty years. The album was produced by James Graydon and Richard Cottle, who also arranged all the music.

The Taste of TG (A Beginner's Guide to the Music of Throbbing Gristle)

Pressed On Limited Edition Red Colored Vinyl

Mute are delighted to announce a special reissue of
The Taste of TG, the 2004 compilation presenting a
beginner's guide to the music of Throbbing Gristle.

Discontent with ho-hum frameworks and facile
    reactionary accouterments, Throbbing Gristle set
out to subvert standard musical performance, and in
the process, lived up to their infamous parliamentary
epithet of "wreckers of civilization." Where punk
sought "to change the nature of rock 'n' roll,"
Genesis P-Orridge and his cohorts were all about
mutating and re-inscribing the very nature of music
    itself.

The Taste of TG offers 14 tracks culled from the
band's four proper albums, two live tracks, and
"Exotic Functions" from Journey Through a Body,
the group's last studio recording from March
    1981. Packaged with a disturbing, tongue-lashing
cover image by Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson (a
manipulation of a still from the Pier Paolo Pasolini's
1975 film Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma), the
dark clouds of TG's electronic mayhem are here on
full display, with highlights including the confusion
of "Persuasion U.S.A.," the swirling psychedelia of
"His Arm Was Her Leg," and the seductive horror of
"Hamburger Lady." The few stabs that Throbbing
Gristle made at pop music (even if their subject
matter was routinely dark) are here as well, with "Hot
On the Heels of Love," "What a Day," and "United."
