    Love Beach

Remastered For The First Time In 24 Bit / High-Density Formats From The Original Tapes

'Love Beach' (1978) is the final ELP studio album from the 1970s classic era, expertly remastered for the first time in 24 bit / High-Density formats from the original tapes. The LP finds the band back to their intimate best - producing a lighter, more concise and accessible album - and jamming in the relaxed atmosphere of a studio in Nassau, Bahamas. As usual, ELP produced an excellent, technically accomplished mix of classical music and electronics, once again unearthing their extraordinary musical chemistry. Includes fans' / live favorites 'The Gambler' and the rockin' 'Canario' (based on Rodrigo's 'Fantasia Para Un Gentilhombre'). Side 2 is taken up by the superb 'Memoirs Of An Officer And A Gentleman' - one of their finest suites, highlighting voice, piano, and marching drums...

Formed in 1970, Emerson, Lake & Palmer were torchbearers of the progressive rock sound and one of rock's first supergroups. The world-conquering, stadium-filling prog giants helped to broaden the audience for the genre from hundreds of thousands into tens of millions and were one the most commercially successful rock bands of the 1970s. Their first 7 album releases all made the U.K. albums chart top 10 and U.S. top 20.

Works Volume 2 is ELP's sixth studio album, released in 1977, and now expertly remastered for the first time in 24 bit / High-Density formats from the original tapes. The album's brief, eclectic compositions cover an array of musical styles, combining stimulating originals and handsomely orchestrated renditions of 'Maple Leaf Rag,' 'Honky Tonk Train Blues,' and 'Show Me The Way to Go Home.' Works 2 showcases incredibly strong performances from all 3 band members - Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer. Run The Jewels

    Gold Yellow Colored Vinyl

This gold vinyl re-issue of Run the Jewels's 2013 self-titled classic was named Pitchfork's "Best New Music" upon release. Killer Mike's baritone drawl contrasts El-P's hyper flow perfectly, and with support from names like Big Boi, Until the Ribbon Breaks, and Prince Paul, this hip-hop album delivers. Tracks feature Banana Clipper, Job Well Done, and Twin Hype Back.

Metacritic gives this album universal acclaim, and critics agree: it's accessible with its duo taking on crooked politicians, fake rappers and religious hypocrites through aggressive flow and paranoid rhyme, and its fun, affable vibe is no sign of weakness.

For the true collector of album kitsch, this release includes a new iron-on Run the Jewels patch.

    Works Volume 1

Remastered For The First Time In 24 Bit / High-Density Formats From The Original Tapes

Works Volume 1 (originally released as 'Works') is ELP's fifth studio album, released as a double LP in 1977, and now expertly remastered for the first time in 24 bit / High-Density formats from the original tapes and reissued here as a 2LP set. The album is comprised of three solo band member LP sides, with the fourth showcasing the complete group.

Works Volume 1 features ELP's anthemic and stylish 'Fanfare For The Common Man', a massive hit which reached No.2 in the U.K.; the brilliant, Keith Emerson compiled, Piano Concerto No.1, performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra; excellent romantic songs from Greg Lake at the peak of his creativity, and hard rocking classical adaptations from Carl Palmer - featuring Joe Walsh on lead guitar for one song. This album took ELP's bombastic, keyboard-driven prog rock epics to the limit.

Black Moon

    2017 Remaster

Black Moon is ELP's eighth studio album. It was released in 1992 when the band re-formed after 14 years, having split-up after their previous album, 'Love Beach' in 1978, and represents a real return to form. The music is a stripped-down, amped-up, more mainstream rock format, though in many places retaining the feel of their 70s prog epics. Expertly remastered for the first time by celebrated rock studio engineer Andy Pearce.

    Brain Salad Surgery

Brain Salad Surgery is the fourth studio album by progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer, originally released in 1973 and the first under their Manticore Records imprint. It fuses rock and classical themes. Greg Lake wrote the lyrics for the album with the assistance (on two tracks, Karn Evil 9: 3rd Impression and Benny the Bouncer) of former King Crimson bandmate (and, beginning with this album, frequent ELP collaborator) Peter Sinfield. This was the first Emerson, Lake & Palmer album to have no songwriting contributions from Carl Palmer. The cover art is by H. R. Giger.

2008 Mixes By Nick Davis & Genesis

    Pressed At Pallas GmbH

When this album was originally released in 1973 (the same year as the famed Live set), Genesis had become one of the fastest-rising groups on the pop scene. The band's blend of classical instincts, theatrical presentation, as well as whimsically complex and daring arrangements established them as leaders of the British progressive rock movement, along with fellow giants Yes, ELP, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, and Jethro Tull. After returning to the studio, these talented musicians continued to labor and experiment. The result of their effort is Selling England by the Pound, considered by some to equal their masterpiece, Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. It was truly a group effort and is still widely-acknowledged as one of the great albums from the 1970s! And in what was perhaps a foreshadowing of things to come, drummer Phil Collins made his vocal debut here on the song, More Fool Me.

    Cancer For Cure

Independent rap icon El-P is set to release his long awaited new solo album Cancer For Cure, at his new home Fat Possum. The new album marks his first full length rap album since 2007's critically acclaimed I'll Sleep When You're Dead, though El-P's rap trajectory has been on a steady ascent following a prolific year that saw high profile appearances on Das Racist's mixtape and debut album, a hugely buzzed Adult Swim single "Drones Over Bklyn," a verse (which made Stereogum's top 10 guest verses of the year) on one of the year's biggest online hits, Mr. Muthafuckin' Exquire's "Huzzah," among several other honors.

The record is arriving hot on the heels of the new Killer Mike album R.A.P. Music, which El-P produced in full and is already making huge noise with its first single "Big Beast (featuring Bun B, T.I. and Trouble)," which was awarded Pitchfork's rare 'Best New Track' designation.Cancer For Cure takes another huge leap forward from the production work of his 2010 instrumental album Weareallgoingtoburninhellmeggamixxx with a bombastic collision of synths, bottomless bass tones, live instrumentation, ear-worming melody, and tightly coiled drum patterns, setting the standard for hip hop production higher than ever.

The obvious diversion from the previous album is the presence of El-P's ever-developing vocal style, continuing to raise the bar on his already highly verbose flow that swiftly and muscularly navigates a rapidfire explosion of syllabic conundrums and quick-witted elocutions full of heart, purpose, style and grit. Rounded out by feature appearances by a host of high profile guests including Killer Mike, Danny Brown, Mr. Muthafuckin' Exquire, Paul Banks (Interpol), and more, this will easily be one of the year's most talked about albums.

Welcome Back, My Friends, To The Show That Never Ends - Ladies And Gentlemen

Welcome Back My Friends, To The Show That Never Ends - Ladies and Gentlemen is a 1974 live album by progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer. This was the last ELP release for almost three years while the band took an extended break to recover and pursue some solo projects that eventually ended up on their next release Works Volume 1 in 1977.

The album was recorded during the 1973/1974 Someone Get Me a Ladder world tour. The title of the album comes from the introduction to the performance, itself a paraphrase of the opening line of the song Karn Evil 9: First Impression, Part 2. The welcome back my friends hook was also used by Alan Freeman on some of his radio shows.

They recorded the album The World Became The World in 1974. Elvis' Golden Records No. 1 (Speakers Corner)

Have we got the lot? The King of Rock'n'Roll certainly didn't need to ask whether his entourage had collected together all their favourite hits. They had gathered them all together - a collection of Golden Records, rather like a selection box of favourite chocolates, greedily swallowed down and enjoyed to the full. And how they loved them all - whether 'complete works' collectors or fans. To this very day, this collection from 1958 is quite set apart from the normal 'best of' collections. It shines out like a precious jewel among mere pebbles. This was the first of four Gold volumes, and it set the standard for those to come. Before any of the immemorable songs came to be included, they had to have sold at least a million copies and won an undeniable and unforgettable reputation as a heart-string plucker. To name a title is more than superfluous. It's quite enough just to listen and enjoy. Whoever wants the ultimate basic Elvis collection can't go wrong here.

    Musicians:

    • Elvis Presley (guitar, vocal)

    • The Jordanaires (vocal)

    • and various bands

Recordings: January 1956 - September 1957 in Hollywood, New York and Nashville in mono

    Production: Steve Sholes

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    The Jazz Workshop (Speakers Corner)

As a soloist, Al Cohn was not such an inspired tenor sax player as his colleague Zoot Sims. But he was a superb arranger, an unprofitable yet highly important function when it comes to such workshops. And though Manny Albam also played the baritone sax, his real instrument was the pen. He arranged not only jazz, but also film music and musicals. His arrangements were multi-faceted and tailor-made to suit the accomplishments of the individual instrumentalists.

For this particular Jazz Workshop, the record company RCA-Victor could afford the services of excellent session musicians: Joe Newman and Freddie Green came from the Basie Band, Al Cohn, Bernie Glow, and Nick Travis from the Woody Herman Band, and the studio musicians Dick Katz, Buddy Jones, and Osie Johnson were present at all times of day and night anyway.

As long as you don't expect fierce battles between five tenors, or six tweeters on the trumpet, then you will enjoy this LP with its swinging, relaxed improvisations on such works as Rosetta, Linger Awhile, and I'm Coming Virginia - and you will realise that Lester Young's sound has been heard, cultivated and further developed by these musicians.

Four trumpets, a tenor sax, and then a piano, guitar, bass, and drums into the bargain - that's certainly no common ensemble, but it certainly is a good reason to purchase this LP. And for certain, this album has been missing in your collection to this day.

This Speakers Corner LP was remastered using pure analogue components only, from the master tapes through to the cutting head. All royalties and mechanical rights have been paid.

    Musicians:
    Al Cohn (tenor saxophone, arranger)
    Manny Albam (arranger)
Joe Newman, Bart Valve, Bernie Glow, Joe Wilder, Phil Sunkel (trumpet)
    Nick Travis (trumper, trombone)
    Dick Katz (piano)
    Freddie Green (guitar)
    Buddy Jones (bass)
    Osie Johnson (drums)

Recording: May 1955 in Webster Hall, New York City, in mono
    Production: Jack Lewis

I Wish My Brother George Were Here

In the early 90s hip hop took a turn and gangsta-style rap dominated, making waves off
the West Coast that rattled throughout the world. The East Coast's dominance was
descending despite the success and positivity of Native Tongues acts like De La Soul
and A Tribe Called Quest, who favored thought-provoking humor and cleverness over
gangsta rap's grittiness and grim outlook. It was in this landscape that Oakland, CA's
Del The Funky Homosapien emerged in 1991, with his debut release
I Wish My Brother George Was Here.

Cribbing equally from the East Coast's irreverence and wit, and the West Coast's
P-Funk inspired production, (the album was produced by Del's cousin Ice Cube) Del's
debut has rightly been heralded as a benchmark album for underground hip hop. I Wish My Brother George Was Here not only produced the underground classics Dr. Bombay and Mistadobalina (#9 on the 1992 Hot Rap Tracks Charts), but also set the scene for the success of the other less gangsta West Coast
artists like The Pharcyde, Digable Planets, and of course Del's compatriots in Souls of Mischief.

Above all else, Del is credited with injecting some much needed light-heartedness at a moment when it was truly needed.
Since his debut Del has gone on to work alongside Gorillaz, Wu-Tang Clan, El-P, Handsome Boy Modeling School, and
as a member of the acclaimed hip-hop supergroup Deltron 3030, and even with Dinosaur Jr.

Traffic Entertainment now presents I Wish My Brother George Was Here as a special double LP reissue, featuring the
original artwork, and all of The Funky Homosapien's witty and innovative rhymes intact.

Fanfare: The Emerson, Lake & Palmer Box (Out Of Stock) (On Sale)

Legendary progressive rock giants Emerson, Lake & Palmer were
formed in 1970 by the brilliant keyboard virtuoso Keith Emerson, gifted
singer / composer / guitarist Greg Lake and dynamic drummer
/ percussionist Carl Palmer. Torchbearers of the progressive rock
sound, ELP jointly created the super-group concept and are among
the most important bands in the history of rock music. They blended
musical dedication and showmanship with tremendous energy,
and helped to broaden the audience for the genre from hundreds
of thousands into tens of millions. ELP were one the most commercially
successful rock bands of the 1970s, their first 7 album releases
making the U.K. Top 10 and U.S. Top 20 album charts. Despite the
tragic deaths of Keith Emerson and Greg Lake in 2016, the amazing
and inspirational music of ELP very much lives on.

Lavishly packaged, limited edition, numbered box set. Rigid
matt-black outer box with foil-blocked cover text.

Showcasing the immense musical talents of Keith Emerson, Greg
Lake & Carl Palmer, containing a wealth of ELP treasure, from 1970

    London Zoo (Out Of Stock)

In Gibson's Neuromancer, when Case and Molly meet the two surviving founders of Zion, there is talk of hearing a mighty dub in the Babel of tongues signaling the final days. If indeed we're living in these end times, as many predict, then there can be no more of an appropriate soundtrack for the coming apocalypse than The Bug's London Zoo.

The Bug is the main project for Kevin Martin, a producer who has headed a diverse range of projects. He is part of Techno Animal, Ice, and God (all with Justin Broadrick of Godflesh and Jesu), King Midas Sound, Razor X Productions (with The Rootsman), Pressure, and Ladybug; runs his Pathological Records label; and has collaborated with noise jazz outfit 16-17, Pete Sonic Boom Kemper's E.A.R. project, John Zorn, Kevin Shields, El-P, and the Antipop Consortium. He has recorded for Rephlex, Position Chrome/Mille Plateaux, Word Sound, Hyperdub, City Slang, Tigerbeat 6, Grand Royal, and now Ninja Tune. He has been personally asked to remix Thom Yorke, Grace Jones, Einsturzende Neubauten, and Primal Scream, and compiled jazz and dub compilations for Virgin Records. London Zoo is the fruition of all these activities.

The album was born of three key moments: an introduction to the thriving dubstep scene (of which The Bug is very much a pioneer from before it carried a name) and its key producers (via Kode 9 and Loefah) where Martin realized there were others on the same sonic trajectory as himself; an introduction to Warrior Queen via his work with Wayne Lonesome on the Razor X Productions project; and a Mary Anne Hobbs Breezeblock session which introduced him to Flowdan (Roll Deep) and Ricky Ranking. All three of these figure heavily in the end result and live presentation.

The obvious entry point to the album is the dubstep tag, particularly after the success of the three lead-up singles, but London Zoo clearly reaches past, brings together, and celebrates reference points from dancehall, grime, hip-hop, and noise-- it could have only come out of London sound-system culture, while its appeal spans cities and scenes.

From the opening strains of Angry (featuring reggae legend Tippa Irie) it's clear that the world has been served notice from the heart of the UK capital. The message is further strengthened as Ranking (best known for his work with Roots Manuva), Flowdan, Warrior Queen, Spaceape, Roger Robinson, Killa P, and Aya step up to lay waste to the boombastic rhythms put before them, eventually culminating in Judgement where Ranking leaves us with a prophecy: So much people are losing their minds, because we're living in a serious time. I guess it come in like a judgment sign, the people have killing on their mind. Living in end times, indeed. Best start building the Marcus Garvey tug now.

Live in Cologne 1954 (Out Of Stock)

In January 1954, twelve American musicians traveled to Europe under the tour title Jazz Club USA, named after Leonard Feather s radio show. Feather also sent his own mini-festival on tour: a trio with singing pianist Beryl Brooker, another trio led by Red Norvo, the quartet of Buddy DeFranco, and singer Billie Holiday. Having had an encounter with her abusive husband the evening prior, Billie appeared onstage in Cologne wearing dark sunglasses, and the repertoire included a song written by her entitled I Love My Man (a.k.a. Billie's Blues ). The singer may have been battered by her disastrous life, but she was nevertheless able to move her audience.
