Madman Across The Water (Awaiting Repress)

Madman Across the Water is driven by the sweeping string arrangements that gives the songs here a richly dark and haunting edge. The overall quality of the record is very high, particularly on character sketches Levon and Razor Face, as well as the melodramatic Tiny Dancer and the paranoid title track. Now on 180-gram heavyweight vinyl. This title is one in a series of vinyl releases to mark Elton John's 50th anniversary in the music industry.

    Use Your Illusion I

Part one of Guns N' Roses' ambitious third album stays closer to the band's bluesy hard-rock roots and it is largely considered the better of the two part release. Use Your Illusion I scored three Top 40 hits with the Wings cover Live and Let Die, the piano-driven, Elton John-flavored epic November Rain and the hard-edged ballad Don't Cry. Celebrity cameos include a then unknown Shannon Hoon, Hanoi Rocks' Mike Monroe and Alice Cooper, who makes a particularly sinister contribution to The Garden.

    The Union

The Union is the highly anticipated collaborative album from Elton John and Leon Russell and it's the first time these iconic artists have worked together since 1970. Produced by Oscar and multiple-Grammy winning producer T Bone Burnett, The Union was recorded live in the studio with Elton and Leon on dueling pianos. The album features a variety of musical genres from R&B, soul, gospel, country, pop and rock. The 14-track set includes selections written by Elton and his lifelong lyricist Bernie Taupin, as well as the combined incomparable songwriting team encompassing Leon, Elton, Bernie and T Bone.

Leon first met Elton in 1970 when he attended Eltons first ever U.S. show at the famous Troubadour in Los Angeles. The meeting heralded the beginning of a long friendship and a mutual appreciation between the two artists. In the late 60s and early 70s, the one piano player and vocalist who influenced me more than anybody else was Leon Russell, Elton said. He was my idol. The pair went on to tour together shortly thereafter at New Yorks Fillmore East and to this day have held such high admiration for each others work.

After years of being out of touch, Elton listened to Leons music while on safari in Africa last summer and was inspired to reconnect with his idol. Elton called to ask if I would do a duet album with him, Russell said. Im very happy that he chose me to do this.

    The Diving Board

Capitol Records is proud to announce the release of Elton John's The Diving Board, the artist's first solo studio album in seven years. Produced by T Bone Burnett, the album features 12 new songs written by Elton and his longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin, as well as three piano interludes composed by the artist.

The Diving Board returns Elton John to the piano, bass and drums lineup that marked the artist's introduction to worldwide audiences more than 40 years ago. As Elton explains, "In many ways, I feel like I'm starting again, making records. Several years ago when beginning to work with T Bone and being in the studio with Leon Russell for The Union, I had to ask myself, 'What kind of music do I really want to make?', and I realized that I had to go back to go forward again. I needed to strip away the excesses and get back to the core of what I do as an artist. That's what The Diving Board represents. I'm
incredibly excited about every aspect of this album: The performances, T Bone's production, Bernie's lyrics and the songs we've created. The Diving Board is the album I've been waiting to make for decades."

    Genius Loves Company

    Half-speed mastered from original tapes.

The last studio album completed by the untouchable Ray Charles before his death. Charles sings a dozen duets with a dazzling array of guest artists from virtually every genre. »We cover it all,« Charles said, »from country to R&B, pop, rock and blues. I've never let them put me in a little box, and this (record) expresses that open feeling. A beautiful song is a beautiful song - and to sing with so many beautiful singers is a blessing from God.« Genius Loves Company stands as a remarkable hallmark in a remarkable career, including duets with Norah Jones, Elton John, Van Morrison, Diana Krall, Natalie Cole, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Michael McDonald, B.B. King, Gladys Knight and Johnny Mathis.

Mastered for Pure Audiophile Records by Stan Ricker from half-inch analog tape at 30 inches per second.
