    Back In Memphis

    180 Gram Translucent Gold Vinyl

Elvis Aaron Presley was born during the Great Depression into a poor family in Mississippi. They moved to Memphis during the early fifties, and as a struggling young truck driver, Elvis cut some demos as a gift for his beloved mother Gladys. The folks at RCA Victor knew that this young fellow named Elvis was destined for superstardom. They quickly signed the legend to a long-term deal, and his first RCA single Heartbreak Hotel forever etched "The King Of Rock And Roll" trademark to his name. He would eventually become the most successful solo artist of all time!

As 1970 began, Elvis returned to the studios of Memphis and would go on to record his smash album Back In Memphis. Ever proving that he was indeed on top of his game, the amazing album featured a treasure trove of his most soulful works like Inherit The Wind and Stranger In My Own Town. Back In Memphis soon went on to achieve gold and platinum status and become one of his most memorable titles in his huge arsenal of masterful albums.

Thanks to his great interpretation of Neil Diamond's And The Grass Won't Pay No Mind, his vocal prowess on the country groover From A Jack To A King and of course the soul drenched Without Love (There Is Nothing), this collection of Elvis Presley's hits were just what the fans were screaming for, and the entire album was built around the framework of his Back In Memphis trademark sound.

    30 #1 Hits

ELV1S: 30 #1 Hits is a greatest hits collection of songs by American rock and roll icon Elvis Presley that reached No. 1 on the Australian, United Kingdom and United States albums charts. It is the first Elvis Presley album to feature the remix of A Little Less Conversation by Junkie XL and reached No. 1 in the UK and Australia. This style of compilation, dovetailing number one hits from the two largest record markets in the world, was inspired by the Beatles' 1, which had become a worldwide hit in 2000. Conversely, the latter album had been somewhat inspired by Presley's The Number Ones Hits, released thirteen years earlier, in 1987. The Number One Hits was, in fact, the first compilation of number one hits by any single artist or band released on LP or CD in any country in the world.

Following the unexpected massive success of Heartbreak Hotel, this was as startling a debut record as any ever made and besides gospel it represented every side of Elvis' musical influences from rockabilly to blues and R&B to country and pop. Elvis' self-titled debut became the first rock & roll album to reach the number one spot on the national charts and RCA's first million dollar-earning pop album.

Legacy Recordings has gone to great lengths to present this classic album exactly the way it was originally intended, with all the warmth and nuance that only vinyl can offer!

These initial songs, of which he had only paid a few dollars to record, would become the catalyst that would kick start the beginnings of a soon to be worldwide superstar unlike the world has ever known.

The folks at RCA Victor knew that this young fellow named Elvis was destined for superstardom. They quickly bought out his contract and signed the legend to a long-term deal, and his first RCA single Heartbreak Hotel forever etched "The King Of Rock And Roll" trademark to his name.

From the remainder of the 1950's, Elvis would release several more hit albums and number one singles, star in a couple of box office smash films, and prior to spending time in the Army, he recorded his fourth album and what would become one of the most memorable and best loved Christmas LP's of all time, Elvis' Christmas Album.

The 1957 album was a blockbuster as it topped the pop charts for a month, making this one of the biggest albums of his career ultimately selling over 13 Million Units and his first Diamond Award Winning RIAA certified recording. Elvis' Christmas Album truly proved once again that his career was unlike any other in music history.

This holiday classic takes off with the rockin' Santa Claus Is Back In Town and followed by the soulful groove of White Christmas. More Elvis favorites follow with his brilliant interpretation of the melancholy ballad I'll Be Home For Christmas and the blues rocker number one single smash Blue Christmas.

The album also features a nice helping of gospel standards which Elvis made his own with favorites like (There'll Be) Peace In The Valley and It Is No Secret (What God Can Do) , the timeless Silent Night , and of course the heartfelt O Little Town Of Bethlehem . In total, the album showcases twelve important Elvis Presley recordings which have truly gone on to become definitive classics by any measure of popular music.

Elvis As Recorded At Madison Square Garden

Of all the live concert recordings released during Elvis Presley's lifetime, none carried the historical significance of his long-awaited New York City shows at Madison Square Garden in June of 1972. His first performances in the Big Apple since the '50s, the 'King of Rock 'n' Roll' performed four sold-out shows at the famed venue, the weekend of Friday through Sunday, June 9-11, 1972 and sold in excess of 80,000 tickets in the process.

This 2LP reissue from Sony Legacy is culled from Elvis' legendary performance at the Saturday evening show, originally issued on a single LP by RCA Records on June 18, 1972, just eight days after the concert took place. The album was certified Gold less than two months later.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born during the Great Depression into a poor family in Mississippi. Elvis Is Back! (Speakers Corner)

During the King's artistically unproductive period of military service, no costs or efforts were spared (e.g. A Date With Elvis, RCA LPM-2011), and no consolatory promises of things to come were left unsaid by the management in order to keep Elvis alive and well in the minds of his vast circle of fans. At last the great coup was landed: Elvis Is Back was what everyone was waiting to hear and American radio and television broadcasting stations made a gigantic medial feast of it.

With the ink scarcely dry on his demobilization papers, Elvis entered the studio in March 1960 and recorded a whole series of numbers which later became worldwide hits, such as Are You Lonesome Tonight and It's Now Or Never. Released as singles, these tender ballads created a sensation, while the LP with numbers such as Dirty, Dirty Feeling, Like A Baby and The Thrill Of Your Love underlined Elvis's enhanced qualities as a rock, blues and gospel singer. That his voice - despite everyone's fears - had lost nothing of its erotic thrill is more than amply demonstrated in his rendering of Fever alone, which is accompanied merely by bass and percussion.

With its amazing array of varying styles, this must surely be one of Elvis's most genial albums and was unrivaled right up until his great comeback in 1968 (From Elvis In Memphis, RCA LSP-4155).

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

Moody Blue is the twenty-fourth and final studio album by American singer and musician Elvis Presley, originally released by RCA Records the month before his death in August 1977. The album was a mixture of live and studio work and included the four tracks from Presley's final studio recording sessions in October 1976 and two tracks left over from the previous Graceland session in February 1976. Moody Blue was a previously published hit song recorded at the earlier Graceland session and held over for this album. Also recorded at the February session was She Thinks I Still Care. Way Down became a hit after Presley's death less than one month after this album's publication. The album was certified Gold and Platinum on September 12, 1977, and 2x Platinum on March 27, 1992, by the RIAA.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born during the Great Depression into a poor family in Mississippi. They moved to Memphis during the early
fifties, and as a struggling young truck driver, he cut some demos at Sun Studios as a gift for his beloved mother Gladys. These initial songs,
of which he had only paid a few dollars to record, would become the catalyst that would kick-start the beginnings of a soon to be worldwide
superstar unlike the world has ever known.
The folks at RCA Victor knew that this young fellow named Elvis was destined for superstardom. They quickly bought out his contract
and signed the legend to a long-term deal, and his first RCA single Heartbreak Hotel forever etched "The King of Rock and Roll" trademark
    to his name.

Over the next three decades, Elvis Presley would release dozens of hit albums and tons of smash singles, spend time in the Army, star
in over 35 top charting films, as well as sell out concert tours around the states and Canada making him the most successful solo artist of all
time. In 1977, his career ignited even further thanks to his highly successful tour and his much anticipated newly released LP Moody Blue.
Already gaining popularity in advance thanks to two chart single smashes Moody Blue and Way Down, this masterwork album
included a treasure trove of studio and concert performances that captured a very great time in the musical history of this iconic legend.
In addition to the wonderful hit singles aforementioned, The King reaches back to his early Memphis days with a tribute to Johnny Ace
with Pledging My Love and more fifties classics like The Diamonds' Little Darlin' and Jim Reeves' country smash He'll Have To Go.
Even more hits abound with sensational interpretations of Al Hibbler's classic Unchained Melody which also hit the top ten of the
country music charts, a gospel rockin' version of Let Me Be There and a brilliant reading of the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice's classic It's
    Easy For You.

Sadly, this was Elvis Presley's final album as he passed away suddenly on August 16, 1977. The world was never the same after the
tragic news was told that day, as hoards of fans journeyed to his beloved Graceland to pay their heartfelt tribute to The King of Rock and Roll.
Elvis Presley's Moody Blue album, of course already a huge seller prior to his death, would go on to become one of his biggest albums
ever, as fans rushed to the stores to buy his final masterwork. Initially pressed on BLUE vinyl, this amazing album has been out of print on
vinyl for several decades that is until now!
In honor of the Man, the Music, the Legend, the King of Rock and Roll, Friday Music is very proud and honored to announce the limited

His Hand In Mine (Speakers Corner)

Almost everyone loves gospel songs. After all - it is inspirational music about good news and hope and warms the heart without demanding religious belief. But what in God's name makes these songs so enjoyable? Why are they music to one's ears? Is it because of the simple yet unique melodies, the soft or rocking grooves, or the prayer wheel-like verses that are sung alternately by a soloist and chorus? Elvis fans might well be able to answer this question just by taking a quick look at the cover, while other more undiscerning lovers of black folk spirituality would say that this is a well-produced, professional album that cannot be equalled.

Elvis lets his young, flexible voice swing sonorously here, lightly and airily there, all the while supported by a top-notch vocal backing group. The rich vocal harmonies are sung with true passion, and it is certainly no coincidence that one is reminded of the sound of the Golden Gate Quartet. In one moment the voices soar to celestial heights, in another they plunge down to a deep rumbling bass, not to forget the soft and springy rhythm section. For John Bush (allmusic.com), »this LP isn't just one of Elvis' best LPs, it's one of the best (and best-recorded) gospel sessions of all time.«

Way Down In The Jungle Room

RCA Records and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release Way Down In The Jungle Room, a definitive new 2-LP collection of Elvis Presley's last studio recordings.

Way Down In The Jungle Room is an essential and welcome addition for every fan's library. In the mid-1970s, Elvis, the King of Rock 'n' Roll, became another kind of pioneer as one of the world's first major recording artists to create fully-realized professional level records in the intimacy of his own home studio.

With original recordings executive-produced by Elvis Presley with producer Felton Jarvis (who'd helmed most of Elvis' records from 1966-1977), Way Down In The Jungle Room features rare outtakes laid down during two mythic sessions (February 2-8, 1976 and October 28-30, 1976) in Graceland's den -- known as the Jungle Room -- which was converted into a professional caliber recording studio for the purpose of capturing these indelible performances. The outtakes have been newly mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Matt Ross-Spang at Sam Phillips Recording in Memphis, Tennessee.

For these sessions, Elvis was backed by many members of his longtime touring band including: James Burton (guitar), Ronnie Tutt (drums), David Briggs (keyboards), Glenn D. Hardin (keyboards), Jerry Scheff (bass), Norbert Putnam (bass) and J.D. Sumner & the Stamps (vocals).

In 1976, when the tracks for Way Down In The Jungle Room were cut, Elvis Presley had been an RCA Records recording artist for 20 years, inventing the sound and attitude that defined the very essence of rock 'n' roll. That same year, RCA released The Sun Sessions, the label's first official collection of the electrifying 1954-1955 Elvis recordings that launched his career while transforming the world.

Having entered his 40s, Elvis Presley was evolving as an artist and, rather than bask in the nostalgia of his 1950s watershed recordings, was looking for new ways to express himself musically. Needing to create new sounds for a new era, Elvis Presley--who'd been charting on Country and Adult Contemporary stations -- decided to convert the Hawaiian-themed Jungle Room (a relaxation den in his fabled Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee) into an informal home studio, where he could lay down tracks the way he wanted, outside the budget and scheduling pressures of the professional studios he'd worked in previously. With the help of RCA's mobile recording truck and longtime producer Felton Jarvis and engineer Mike Moran at the board, Elvis tackled a far-ranging mix of country and pop covers (Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain, I'll Never Fall in Love Again, Danny Boy, Solitaire) and late-period classics of his catalog, such as Moody Blue and Way Down.

The Outtakes was mixed for this collection at the Sam Phillips Recording Service in Memphis and includes both outtakes and in-the-studio dialog, providing a fly-on-the-wall experience of what the sessions were like. With the exception of She Thinks I Still Care, the performances have been sequenced in the order they were recorded.

Ranked 190/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

From Elvis in Memphis is the thirty-fifth album by Elvis Presley originally released in 1969.
The recording of the album marked the definite return of Presley to non-soundtrack albums, after finishing his movie contract with Paramount pictures.

Motivated by his early influences in country, rhythm and blues, and the latest music trend in Memphis being gospel and soul, Presley chose to record these songs at the Memphis-based American Sound Studio.

    Viva Elvis

Viva Elvis, the album, is a 21st century celebration of Elvis Presley and his music, featuring the voice of the king in a whole new context. The undisputed King of Rock 'n' Roll, Elvis Presley, remains one of the most iconic and powerful forces in popular culture.

Before Elvis, said John Lennon, There was nothing. After Elvis, the world looked and sounded different. With a swivel of his hips and the power of his voice, Elvis broke down barriers and shattered the status quo, revolutionizing the world of music, film and fashion, while signaling a seismic shift in gender, class, race and generational relationships.

This revolution continues with Viva Elvis, the album. This postmodern studio masterwork invokes the spirit and essence of Elvis from a contemporary perspective, while furthering the revolutionary impulses of Elvis' sound. Viva Elvis re-imagines the King's own vocal performances in a broad variety of new musical settings.

This new sound echoes Elvis' own versatility and ability to master all music genres, from Delta blues to rockabilly, from raw soul to gospel, from Southern folk to Vegas pop, while incorporating elements of garage rock, punk, urban and hip-hop. Viva Elvis is the result of a partnership with Cirque du Soleil, who also produced the Beatles Love.

This with the persona and choreography of a Hollywood movie star on stage, the young Elvis Presley was soon touring, and over the year achieved a number of regional hit singles, electrifying audiences into frenzies wherever he performed.

The folks at RCA Victor knew that this young fellow named Elvis was destined for superstardom. They quickly bought out his contract and signed the legend to a long term deal, and his first RCA single Heartbreak Hotel forever etched 'The King Of Rock And Roll' trademark to his name. In 1956 after a chart topping debut LP, his second smash #1 album simply called Elvis truly proved once again that his career was unlike any other in music history.

Filled with more energy than a fireball, the Elvis album took off with the Little Richard classic rocker Rip It Up. Another chart topping single followed with the much revered Love Me, a song which he would perform well into the '70s. The album also featured more smash hits like the Otis Blackwell/Elvis Presley rocker Paralyzed, a blues belter Arthur Crudup revisit with Elvis interpretation of So Glad Youre Mine, and Red Foleys tender ballad about mans best friend Old Shep. In total, the album showcases twelve important Elvis Presley recordings which have truly stood the test of time.

For LP Fans Only (Speakers Corner)

Along with the album A Date With Elvis (RCA LPM-2011), For LP Fans Only is one of the most important special productions of the young King of Rock'n'Roll. Because Elvis had been conscripted into the US army, no new recordings could take place, and so record producers delved deep into the sound archives and dug out a few singles from his Sun Records days, mixed them with a couple of early RCA songs and a number from the Love Me Tender soundtrack, and, hey presto! a new Elvis LP was born. The overwhelming success of this album is not solely confined to the stylistic homogeneity of this collection of fresh, youthful songs. Far more, it's because for many fans the record offered the only substitution for the highly coveted but rare original singles That's All Right, Mystery Train and My Baby Left Me.

Not without reason has today's 'bits-and-bytes' generation ignored the words on the cover and produced several re-releases. Which just goes to emphasise the widespread opinion that this is one of Elvis's very best albums and at the same time one of the most important in the whole of rock'n'roll - especially in the present vinyl pressing.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born during The Great Depression into a poor family in Mississippi. They moved to Memphis during
the early fifties, and as a struggling young truck driver, he cut some demos at Sun Studios as a gift for his beloved mother Gladys.
These initial songs, of which he had only paid a few dollars to record, would become the catalyst that would kick-start the beginnings of a soon to be worldwide superstar unlike the world has ever known.

The folks at RCA Victor knew that this young fellow named Elvis was destined for superstardom. They quickly bought out his
contract and signed the legend to a long term deal, forever etching "The King Of Rock And Roll" trademark to his name.

In 1965 after a plethora of chart topping albums and a bevy of number one singles, Elvis Presley continued to build his
marquee value even further while starring in a staggering amount of feature motion pictures. More incredible fame followed as
the Girl Happy movie starring Elvis Presley became a top box office smash. The 60's beach movie soundtrack album also was a
blockbuster as it rose to the top ten charts, making this his 22nd smash album in a row! Both the Girl Happy movie and soundtrack
LP truly proved once again that his career was unlike any other in music history.

Filled with more hits than a Ft. Lauderdale jukebox, the Girl Happy album takes off with several smashes in a row, including
the classic title track rocker Girl Happy featuring Scotty Moore's trail blazing guitar work and the chart hit single Do the Clam. More
soundtrack treasures follow with the beautiful hit single ballad Puppet on a String and the rockin' I've Got to Find My Baby, which
truly made the album a treasure trove of hits. The album also features the stellar rock blues of Cross My Heart and Hope to Die and
the brilliant Red West composition You'll Be Gone. In total, the album showcases 12 important Elvis Presley recordings which have
truly gone on to become international classics.
