    Enlightened Rogues

    Remastered From Original Analog Tapes

Cut On Copper Plates Using Abbey Road Mastering's Direct DMM Lathe

    Original Artwork Faithfully Reproduced

The Enlightened Rogues is the sixth studio album from the Allman Brothers Band and was originally released in
February 1979. It has been remastered from original analog tapes by Keven Reeves (Brothers And Sisters, The
1971 Fillmore East Recordings) to 192kHz 24-bit audio and then cut on copper plates using Abbey Road
Mastering's Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) lathe. This title is being issued on 180g, heavy weight vinyl. The original
artwork has been faithfully reproduced as well.

The Allman Brothers Band's best studio album since Brothers and Sisters is a loud, brash, hard-rocking collection of consistently solid if not first-rate songs. The singing is some of the best since Idlewild South... -Bruce Eder (All Music Guide)

    Blue Healer

Unkempt visionary, Squirrel Nut Zippers founder, former sideman for Jim Dickinson and Buddy Guy, self-proclaimed Arkansas Son-in-Law- Jimbo Mathus has lived many lifetimes, more than most of us could stomach. Now, Mathus is back with a new album, Blue Healer, recorded in Water Valley, Mississippi with Fat Possum & Big Legal Mess producer Bruce Watson.

"It's the story of a man in a southern landscape who is swept insanely apart by internal and external winds," Mathus says of the new record. "He digs deeper and deeper into the very fabric of his reality, experiencing love and lust, despair, hope and sheer animal exhilaration on levels few ever do. He is tested in every way imaginable and achieves a sort of enlightenment - gains power and understanding of life's mysteries. Yet questions remain. He wonders if the struggle was worth it, or even real. Is he madman or sage? Con man or honest counsel? Is this autobiographical or fictional? Only the Blue Healer knows the answer to the great cosmic heebie-jeebie."

    Who Came First (Half-Speed Master)

Limited Edition Heavyweight 180-Gram White Vinyl

Remastered At Abbey Road With Half-Speed Mastering Process

This 1972 release was the first release by Pete Townshend outside of The Who. The album is a collection of music dedicated to Meher Baba, Townshend's spiritual master and follows on from the private pressings of 'Happy Birthday' another devotional album which Townshend put together to celebrate the first anniversary of the passing of Baba and its follow up 'I Am'. 'Who Came First' came about because of the bootlegging of these albums and Decca in the States pushing for an official release. In response Townshend decided to release a new album, with Decca promising $1 of every sale going towards Baba projects. The resultant album exposes Townshend's spiritual enlightenment and sees him perform with fellow Baba followers, including Ronnie Lane and Billy Nicholls.

The album includes Townshend's versions of Who Classics 'Let's See Action' and the sublime opener 'Pure and Easy' as well as cover versions of songs which were Baba favourites. The album closes with the epic 'Parvadigar', a rendition of Meher Baba's Universal Prayer, set to music by PeteTownshend.

    Outrage! Is Now

The merry merchants of muscular death dance discord - Sebastien Grainger (vocals, drums) and Jesse F. Keeler (bass, keys, synths) - made a collective decision to embrace their own penchant for perpetual motion while gleefully maintaining the car-wreck intensity of their punkified disco rock. Ultimately, Outrage! Is Now confidently kicks off a new chapter for Death From Above.

We are committed to evolution. This record is the sound of the two us pushing at the walls. We want there to be space, surprises and action!, says Sebastien. We both wanted to see how far we could take our sound as Death From Above. In a way, that has always been our objective, adds Jesse.

Outrage! Is Now is meant to be felt on both a visceral and emotional level, concludes Sebastien. We tried to make something that excites and surprises. Our journey is that of enlightenment and seeking truth. There's enough fiction and meaningless distractions in the world to make you totally shut off. We hope this record turns you on.

Over 75 Minutes Of Vocal Performances - Audible Perfection!

Featuring Album Art Interpreted From The Work Of The Father Of Modern Space Art, Chesley Bonestell

    Extensive Liner Notes

Across the history of jazz, there is no wilder, more future-forward composer and performer than Herman Poole Blount, aka Sun Ra. Known as much for his wild on-stage persona as his innovative compositions, Sun Ra was the avant-garde bleeding edge of the jazz genre, introducing modal composition and electronic instrumentation before almost anyone else -- not to mention bringing the space age to life with his obsession with all things extraterrestrial. Across more than 100 LPs released in his lifetime, Sun Ra charted a course to space and far, far beyond.

Known primarily for his keyboard improv and freeform band arrangements, Sun Ra could also write great vocal songs when he set his mind to it. Such songs as Space Is The Place and Interplanetary Music No.1 show Ra's unique approach to songwriting, using eerie chanting and repetition to create hypnotic moods. And Ra could get swingy when he wanted to as well -- Enlightenment and Sometimes I'm Happy are gorgeous ballads, as pretty as any Tin Pan Alley tune. Of course, it wouldn't be Sun Ra without his space age lyrics -- Take your first step out to outer space/You're like a little baby who never walked before shows up in the future-predicting Walking On The Moon.

At long last, Modern Harmonic has put together The Space Age Is Here To Stay, the very first collection of Sun Ra's vocal tracks - two albums' worth of mind-blowing tunes from the mind of the Man from Saturn himself. 2LPs wrapped in a gorgeous package featuring artwork by the king of space-age art himself, Chesley Bonestell. Includes extensive liner notes from Charles Blass of Sun Radio. Cue this one up and get ready to visit other worlds in Sun Ra's jazz rocket ship!

    Your Music is More

Everyone loves a thumping bass and kick-drum, but not at the expense of everything else. The Grado SR60e is your entry to the world of full spectrum audio. You'll actually hear notes you never knew were there. Perhaps your audiophile friends have fueled a desire for the legendary Grado sound but you thought it was out of reach. Try a pair of our affordable open-back headphones and experience fuller, more realistic sound. Club-footed imports can't match the sonic enlightenment from Brooklyn, USA.

Grado has taken one of the world's most legendary headphones and made it even better. The SR60e has a new driver design, a new polymer to better damp resonant distortion in the plastic housing, and a new cable from plug to driver connection. The way the SR60e's new driver and plastic housing move air and react to sound vibrations virtually eliminate transient distortions. This allows the signal flow over the new cable to reproduce sound that has tight control of the upper and lower range of the frequency spectrum, while supporting Grado's world renowned midrange. The SR60e will produce a sound that is pure Grado, with warm harmonic colors, rich full bodied vocals, excellent dynamics, and an ultra-smooth top end.

Frequently described as the gateway to audiophile sound, the Grado SR60 headphones hold the title of best full-size open headphones for less than $100 - many models that cost twice as much don't sound as good. The retro-looking SR60 headphones have punchy but natural sound and will floor most first-time listeners.

    - Macworld

You'll be hard pressed to find a better pair of headphones for the money than the Grado SR60. The upper mids/highs reveal excellent detail, and the bass is solid too. I bought a pair about 8 years ago and I swear the price was the same as it is today. Good price, simple looks, practical and sophisticated where it counts: in the sound.

III: Tabula Rasa Or Death And The Seven Pillars

THE DEVIL'S BLOOD announced at the beginning of 2013 that they have returned to nothingness. At the same time, they announced that plans had already been put into motion to release new material.

SL comments on the release: Prior to our disbanding on the 22nd of January 2013, we had been active with the pre-production of what was to be our third album. Seven songs, the complete outline of the album, had been, in humble form, recorded in my home recording studio and these demos were supposed to be the template for our studio recordings. Obviously, we would never make it that far and the initial shock of that fact saddened us greatly. After but a few days we listened to this material again and decided that even though the audio quality might not be what people have come to expect from a THE DEVIL'S BLOOD release, the song material was and is the best we have ever done. We came to the conclusion that these songs deserve to become a part of The Canon and that we would release them as is.

I spent a few days gathering all the demo material together, made a very simple mix and gave the material to our friend and mentor Pieter G. Kloos to master in his studio. Here we present you with the titles of the material and the artwork which was done by Manuel Tinnemans.

The song we have chosen to release now is 'White Storm Of Teeth'. More so than the other material, this song speaks to the completion and transubstantiation that always follows an Occult path. Not the end of a journey but the start of a completely new one. Built around thirteen stanzas in the first part and thirteen stanzas in the second part the process of inner enlightenment through confusion and entropy and the initiation through the Death of the lower self is illustrated. This theme is rampant throughout the record and its lyrics but here it culminates and completely devours itself. After this work no words are needed and, on the album, none are offered.

THE DEVIL'S BLOOD has always been an entity that defied any fealty or thankfulness towards any earthly influence. But we as people need not hold to this paradigm any longer. We therefore wish to express our sincere thankfulness to all those who have supported this weird quest and have made the earthly woes to not work against us. You most definitely know who you are.

    Culture Of Fear

LP reissue of Thievery Corporation's 6th studio album originally released in 2011.

Eric Hilton and Rob Garza craft a simmering and hazy collection of atmospheric gems that recalls their early production work but reflects a thoroughly
contemporary zeitgeist of socio-political angst and unease. Utilizing a team of skilled session players from their acclaimed live show and beyond, Culture
of Fear finds the duo easing into expansive multipart space-jams like "Tower Seven" and jazzy instrumental b-boy breaks like "Light Flares." Not only are
usual suspects like multilingual chanteuse Lou Lou and dancehall toaster Sleepy Wonder back to lend their haunting vocals, but several new contributors
also join the Corporation. Renowned hip-hop MC Mr. Lif blazes the microphone on the title track "Culture of Fear" with a scathing flow that aims to uplift
and enlighten as it does burn down babylon! Rising star Ras Puma also drops mystic incantations on "False Flag Dub" and the slow burning roots reggae
throwback "Overstand." It's not all fire and brimstone however, as Shana Halligan of Bitter:Sweet coos sultrily over booming tribal rhythms on "Is it Over?",
and newcomer Kota lends angelic and sprightly verses on album closer "Free."

    Take To The Fields

The band Kahoots might as well be on Madagascar -- left alone on an island for years, a species with common roots to us all, but immune from gimmicks and trendiness. Although the band is often compared to the pop noisemakers of the Chicago-Northampton axis, from Silkworm to Sebadoh, a more enlightening comparison is to Arthur Lee's Love... acerbic but honest lyrics, irresistibly catchy hooks, just real and inspired music. Sometimes even a 'Forever Changes' string section, but don't worry, in plenty of moderation.

    Limited To 500 Copies

Between August 1975 and May 1976, the Allman Brothers Band played to some of the biggest crowds of their career. Gradually, however, the members of the band grew apart during these tours, with sound checks and rehearsals apparently becoming a thing of the past. The shows were considered lackluster and the members were excessive in their drug use. As a result, the band finally broke up.

In 1978 moves were afoot to reunite the band, augmented by new guitarist Dan Toler and bassist David Goldflies, to record the much celebrated Enlightened Rogues album, and return to touring. The album was released in February and the recording featured here with the new line-up came on the night before New Year's Eve of the same year - for the record, fact fans, on the actual NYE, the band was performing in New Haven, Connecticut.

    Mixed Bag

"Freedom." The very mention of the song conjures images of Richie Havens at Woodstock, fiercely strumming his guitar and lost in an improvisational moment of creation. An intensely engaging performer, Havens honed his craft in the clubs and cafes of Greenwich Village, just over the bridge from his native Brooklyn. Painter, poet and multi-instrumentalist, Havens immersed himself in the Village's beatnik culture just as the nascent folk scene began to develop. Connecting with uber-manager Albert Grossman, then guiding the careers of Bob Dylan and Peter, Paul and Mary, Havens rose to the top tier of the international folk movement.

Signed to Verve Forecast, Havens released his first album, Mixed Bag, in August of 1967. The intriguing LP gathered songs from Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, Lennon/McCartney as well as two self-penned compositions and one co-written with future acting star Lou Gossett, Jr. The album's instrumentation featured Havens on sitar and acoustic guitar played in his unique style, thumb chording songs in open D tuning. Soaring above it all was his commanding baritone, a voice that injected gravitas into every song, bringing the lyrics to vivid life. A stunning debut, it climbed both the pop and jazz Billboard charts.

Havens followed up a year later with Something Else Again:. The cover portrait found Havens clad in dashiki and wearing beads while playing a sitar, looking like a standard bearer for the counterculture. The songs' subject matter followed that direction as well, dealing primarily with social issues rather than relationships. It was another charting record for Havens, reaching #184 on Billboard's Pop Albums. More than mere albums, Mixed Bag and Something Else Again: were signposts for a rapidly changing culture, leading the way to a more enlightened existence.

Sundazed Music presents these two vital albums in their rare mono versions, sourced from the original Verve masters, and pressed on lush 180gm vinyl. Cue them up and hear the glorious sound of artistic freedom pouring from your speakers.

    So It Is With Us

Horse Feathers' fourth album on Kill Rock Stars turns over a new leaf: Justin Ringle, the man behind all ten years of Horse Feathers, has the following to say about the making of this album, and the current state of his band: "I wanted to stop. I did all the touring for my fourth record - Cynic's New Year - and ended the year 2012 disillusioned and defeated. I didn't touch my guitar for months, which was the longest I had gone in about 15 years. I thought that my career in music was over and wondered if I even wanted to do it anymore. After an arduous period of selfdoubt and discovery, I finally arrived at the enlightened idea that maybe it should just be a little more fun. I had grown weary of talking to people after shows who said that my last record "helped them through their divorce". I have always been flattered by that sort of thing, but I realized what I wanted to hear was how my last record helped them "have a great weekend". If you have heard any of my previous records you will realize that this transformation from "divorce" band to "weekend" band would be a tall order. And it was! I wouldn't say we've become a "party band" overnight, but I certainly tried to change things a bit. I enlisted friends to play with me that I trusted and had known for years. Along with longtime bandmates Nathan Crockett (strings/mandolin) and Dustin Dybvig (percusion/drums/keys), I threw Justin Power (bass/vocals) into the mix to have an honest to god rhythm section for the first time. With Lauren Vidal on cello and Brad Parsons singing harmonies, we played an impromptu show at Sasquatch and people liked it. We liked it, and the unusual feeling that I had after that show - which I think is referred to as "joy" - became something I wanted to experience again. I shared more. I stopped editing myself as much. The joy of playing live became its own reward, and I dared myself to allow that joy to shape the songwriting. In the end, I was able to let it go, and I don't own it anymore. Which also feels like joy. That's the way it was, and so it is with us."

    Landscape Dream

Landscape Dream is Abram Shook's followup to 2014's Sun Marquee, an album VICE called
pleasant as fuck and Texas Monthly called compelling, weird, and lovely. Applying
what he learned through writing and recording Sun Marquee, Landscape Dream demonstrates
how much Shook's songwriting and production acumen has sharpened over the past year.
Creating Sun Marquee was a learning process, where songs were often forced out of experiments
in recording techniques. As Abram explains, I had a lot of thoughts I just threw out
there, but often I arrived at dead-ends and had to figure out how to make something out of
what was available. However, on Landscape Dream he went back to writing with just voice
and guitar and then used arranging, production, and recording ideas pulled from Sun
Marquee. The effectiveness of his new approach is clear from the 70's rock of Find It and
Chelsea to the African vibes of Get Gone, the dreamy Brazilian vibes on 5AM and Beach
Glass, and the slow-jam soul found on Perfect, Jaw, and Vessel.

To capture the songs, Abram joined forces with some of Austin's elite engineers including Erik
Wofford, Danny Reisch, Justin Douglas, Grant Johnson, and Christopher Cox. Over the course
of several months the team explored where each of these 12 songs would go. One example of
how far they took the songs from their original form is the energetic Find It, which started
as a fast tropicalia tune Abram wrote on a classical guitar, but through production choices
evolved into an ode to garage-rock, psychedelia, and Zepplin all in one.

Like many of us, Abram dreads the exhausting sea of digital noise, which can be detrimental
to our ability to foster meaningful human connections. To escape the deluge of social media,
texts, emails, etc, he takes a daily walk in a vast, underutilized South Austin park with his dog.
Carving out a little time to step away from the laptop and cell phone has become a crucial
ritual for Abram, allowing him to reflect, and get some perspective on the world and how he
fits into it. Landscape Dream features several songs that reference that precious time he
    spends communing with nature.

In addition to working on his own music, Abram became a touring member of the Austin-based
band Shearwater in 2014. As tiring as touring can be, escaping the noise of his everyday life
provided him with intense periods of self-reflection. Much like his daily walks, he found the
solitude of touring to be a nourishing and enlightening reminder of what really matters, and
that awareness and clarity helped him pen many of the brilliant songs you'll hear on
    Landscape Dream..

    Boomer's Story

Ry Cooder Is A Master Sonic Archeologist And Cultural Historian On Boomer's Story: Guitarist Pays Tribute To The Past And Updates Music For Future On Rustic Record Steeped In Folk, Blues, And Soul

Mastered From The Original Master Tapes, Pressed At RTI, And Strictly Limited To 3000 Numbered Copies: Mobile Fidelity 180g LP Of Boomer's Story Sounds Fantastic With Vibrant Textures

Ry Cooder's development as a peerless musician capable of grasping virtually any style began with his time spent with Taj Mahal and Captain Beefheart, but for all intents and purposes reaches epic proportions on Boomer's Story. With two ambitious albeit uneven studio albums behind him, the California native plunged into roles that still define him today - that of sonic archaeologist and cultural historian, shaping his 1972 Reprise effort with enlightened selections carved into the bedrock of America's folk, blues, and soul landscapes. Inspired, virtuosic, and poignant, Boomer's Story endures as a ravishing portrait of inspired translation and inventive craftsmanship that after years of neglect finally boasts sonics deserving of the performances.

Mastered from the original master tapes, pressed at RTI, and strictly limited to 3000 numbered copies, Mobile Fidelity's 180g LP of Cooder's breakout teems with natural tones, front-to-back imaging, and vintage tube warmth. Boomer's Story benefits from vibrant textures and organic openness, two prized traits that come to fore with breathtaking realism on this analog reissue. Details ranging from the audible resonance of the drum skins, drifting reverb on the guitar, and the inner cavity of the piano take up residence on deep-black soundstages. Individual notes appear and recede with lifelike decay. Cooder and company sound as if they're in the room, playing in real time with one another. This record has never been more dynamic or involving.

Having initiated his self-taught learning of customs established by the likes of Josh White, Woody Guthrie, Charlie Johnson, and Robert Johnson as early as age four, and grown up a son of parents obsessed with Folkways Records, Cooder never suffers from the retro rehash fakery plaguing countless contemporary revivalists. A true original, the guitarist simultaneously pays tribute to the past and updates it for the future. Boomer's Story brims with traditional tunes (the title track, Good Morning Mr. Railroad Man), classic blues (Ax Sweet Mama, Cherry Ball Blues), and World War II standards (Comin' in on a Wing and a Prayer).

A spellbinding blend of personality, respect, and innovation grace every song. Evoking the timeless rusticism and weird, old America vibe of Bob Dylan and the Band's Basement Tapes, Boomer's Story unfolds with a relaxed ease and back-porch chemistry underlined by the musicians' unpretentious demeanors and potent abilities. Drummer Jim Keltner, percussionist Milt Holland, and bassist Jim Dickinson (also a producer) are among the cast fleshing out Cooder's visions. The headliner also welcomes country-blues legend Sleepy John Estes to sing on his own President Kennedy and leans on pianist Randy Newman to help him transform the normally bellicose Rally 'Round the Flag into a patient, mournful protest.

Cooder attains equally meaningful, emotional results on a definitive wordless interpretation of the staple soul ballad The Dark End of the Street, expressing unfathomable depths of regret and longing via slide-guitar work that draws a line back to Blind Willie McTell's immortal spiritual Dark Was the Night - a song Cooder called the most transcendent piece in all American music. Indeed, the degree of interplay attained by twinkling keys, rambling beats, brass accents, and dazzling guitar lines - also finger-picked and strummed - on Boomer's Story breathes with a rare air increasingly endangered in an era of on-demand immediacy and auto-tuned imitation. This, as it's said, is the real deal.

    The Story Of Light

'The Story of Light', a new solo album of original material by virtuoso guitarist and visionary composer Steve Vai. The title comes out on Favored Nations Entertainment, the label Vai founded in 1999. Its sprawling and expressive 12-song set continues a conceptual and cosmic narrative arc begun on the artist's acclaimed 2005 album 'Real Illusions: Reflections'.

Throughout, three-time Grammy winner Vai's lead guitar is as lyrically resonant as it is technically masterful, his licks and solos bending sounds and in listeners' minds in equal measure. 'The Story of Light' follows the journey of a man driven mad by grief, intertwining tragedy, revelation, enlightenment, and redemption.

'I m always pursuing knowledge. I'm a seeker of spiritual equilibrium and music is a big part of that,' says Vai. 'I've been obsessed with these kinds of ideas for years.'

    Lift A Sail

After more than a decade, the men behind Yellowcard are reinventing themselves. In "Illuminate," Ryan Key sings: "We hope to run from what's been done/Look for a future no one else has sung." This is a message that the band clearly took to heart. Lift A Sail is Yellowcard's biggest album yet, a sweeping and illustrious rock album no one could have foreseen. And it's safe to say that this one is a game changer.

Opener "Convocation" prepares listeners for the journey they are about to embark on - its openness is as beautiful and bright as it is tender and stirring, and it is a sign of what's to follow in the next twelve tracks. Not because of the tone or the lightness, but because of how big the track truly is. And while many fans are sure to draw comparisons between this and its Lights and Sounds counterpart, it is worth nothing that "Three Flights Up" closes in upon its piano centric melodies, whereas the layers of elegant strings in "Convocation" continue to swell until its conclusion.

"Transmission Home" picks up where "Convocation" leaves off: with hollow, booming drums before diving into a crunchy guitar melody. The verses are grounded and clear-cut, contrasting with the spacious choruses that have Key pleading into the void: "I will send a transmission home/To say that I've been out here too long alone/And I wanna come down now." The bridge brings him back down with its sweet piano melody and soothing violins, while the synths sparkling just beneath the surface lend an ethereal awareness.
Those synths play larger roles in later tracks, a truly new and unexpected look for Yellowcard. "Make Me So" makes use of electronic drums and bubbling, futuristic melodies to underscore the verses, building up one of the album's fastest tracks and leading into an explosive chorus. Meanwhile in "MSK," the track's synth-driven tunes coalesce with Sean Mackin's enlightened violins in what becomes a mash up of all that Yellowcard has been and all that the band has yet to become.

Throughout Lift A Sail, listeners will hear Key push his vocals further than he has in the past. He plays around with falsetto and short riffs on songs like "Transmission Home" and "Illuminate," and as longtime fans listen through the album, there is sure to be one common thought: "I didn't know he could do that!" Surprising as it is, Key sounds stronger and more confident as a result and that's what is sure to resonate most.

Noticeably missing through most of the album are the violins that have so long been a commanding force in Yellowcard's music. Their appearances in Lift A Sail are often subtler, just a gentle ringing in songs like "Madrid" and "Lift A Sail." But those moments when the strings take center stage are all the more touching for their rarity: a soaring solo in "Fragile and Dear," a "Believe"-esque melody in "MSK." Mackin's skills have by no means been put on a backburner for this album; rather, they have been refined and focused so they are at their most effective.

Ryan Mendez has also continued to hone his talents, and produces some of his most impressive work since first joining Yellowcard over nine years ago. "One Bedroom," which starts with electronic drums and a soft acoustic melody, opens up in the bridge and sets Mendez up for a towering and defiant solo that rings out as the track gradually fades away.

"The Deepest Well," featuring Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire, is home to some of the heaviest tones found on Lift A Sail. The guitars cascade beneath the bold and rebellious verses ("And I will not be fooled again/I took my means and found my end/And all the days from then till now/Were steps I climbed to show you how"), and lead the charge into the final rounds of the chorus.

Though much is different on Lift A Sail, it is the personal and honest reflection within the songs that makes this a true Yellowcard album. From meeting his wife ("Madrid") to the aftermath of an accident that left her paralyzed ("One Bedroom"), to the loss of his grandparents ("My Mountain"), Key pours himself into every line. And when all is said and done, his promise: "I've left myself in every song in every note/And if you need me I will never be too far," holds true for fans and family alike.

Lift A Sail isn't the Yellowcard album we were all expecting - I'm not even sure the band knew what would come from this one. But now that it's been laid out, you can be damn sure it's the Yellowcard album we all needed.

    Ballads

Throughout John Coltrane's discography there are a handful of decisive and controversial albums that split his listening camp into factions. Generally, these occur in his later-period works such as Om and Ascension, which push into some pretty heady blowing. As a contrast, Ballads is often criticized as too easy and as too much of a compromise between Coltrane and Impulse! (the two had just entered into the first year of label representation). Seen as an answer to critics who found his work complicated with too many notes and too thin a concept, Ballads has even been accused of being a record that Coltrane didn't want to make. These conspiracy theories (and there are more) really just get in the way of enjoying a perfectly fine album of Coltrane doing what he always did -- exploring new avenues and modes in an inexhaustible search for personal and artistic enlightenment. With Ballads he looks into the warmer side of things, a path he would take with both Johnny Hartman (on John Coltrane & Johnny Hartman) and with Duke Ellington (on Duke Ellington and John Coltrane). Here he lays out for McCoy Tyner mostly, and the results positively shimmer at times. He's not aggressive, and he's not outwardly. Instead he's introspective and at times even predictable, but that is precisely Ballads' draw.

    Final Days

For their third full-length for Sacred Bones, Cult of Youth have delved deeper
into their style of punk-influenced psychedelic neofolk and created a self-described "post-industrial Pet Sounds." Using acoustic and electronic instruments,
found sounds and an extensive tribal rhythm section, Cult of Youth have put it all
out on the table and left us with their magnum opus.

The band has returned with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and an all-new lineup.
Sean Ragon, once the project's lone member, is now flanked by Jasper McGandy
on bass and Christian Kount on electric guitar (both of whom were members
of seminal Sacred Bones band The Hunt). Cory Flannigan on drums and Paige
Flash on cello complete the five-piece. The end result is Cult of Youth as they
    were always meant to sound.

The contributions of the new members are evident on every track on Final Days,
from the anthemic "Empty Faction" to the gorgeous album closer "Roses." Final
Days is the culmination of everything Cult of Youth has been moving towards the
    past seven years - post-industrial, post-punk, and post-enlightenment.

Addendum: Real human bones were used on this recording and a portion of the
    lyrics were written in jail.
