Terms Of My SurrenderJohn Hiatt adds another chapter to his storied career with the release of Terms Of My Surrender. Produced by longtime collaborator and Combo member, Doug Lancio, Terms of My Surrender is rooted in the blues. It adds an exciting dynamic to one of America's finest singer-songwriters.
Hiatt and his band, The Combo, have gained a reputation for captivating crowds at their live shows as The Tennessean depicts: He prowls the stage, delivering the bluesy stuff in a whiskey-burn howl, shouting the rock stuff and fronting a formidable band that can turn on a dime, from ballads to bombast. John Hiatt's career as a performer and songwriter has spanned more than 30 years and everyone from Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, BB King, Bonnie Raitt and Iggy Pop has covered his work.

Selection Of Songs, Includes She Said The Same Things To Me, Memphis In The Meantime, Have A Little Faith In Me, Dust Down A Country Road And Many More
John Hiatt, who the Los Angeles Times calls one of rock's most astute singer-songwriters of the last 40 years, has built a steady body of work, which more than earns to be captured on this Collected album.
Hiatt, a master lyricist, and satirical storyteller, weaves hidden plot twists into fictional tales ranging in topics including redemption, relationships, growing older and surrendering, on his terms. His tracks are musically rooted in acoustic blues, accentuated by Hiatt's soulful, gritty voice, which mirrors the gravity of his reflective lyrics.
Many of his songs are commercially successful covered by other artists (Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Iggy Pop, Three Dog Night, the Neville Brothers, and many more have covered Hiatt songs and gone places with them) but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a voice. He does, and while he sings fine, his real voice is in the songs themselves, which are frequently brilliant. A fine example is Have A Little Faith In Me one of his signature songs, which was sung and written by John Hiatt following his sobriety from drugs and alcohol.
This Collected 2LP captures his many highlights, think Memphis In The Meantime, Georgie Rae, and features tracks from his early days up to his critically successful days in the 80s and 90s and beyond.LP 1

Alive At Brushy Mountain State PenitentiaryUntil it closed in 2009, Tennessee's Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary was one of the most notorious penal institutions in America. Located in mountainous Petros, it was a forbidding rockpile hewn out of the rough countryside by its own inmates in 1896.
On Oct. 17, 2001, Mark Collie came to Brushy Mountain with a sheaf of newly written songs about crime and punishment and an all-star band for a pair of performances that were recorded for a live album release. Mostly, though, Collie showed up at Brushy Mountain with a mission.
God gave me the opportunity to get in there and share something that might make a difference, he says. I believed the songs could matter. I wanted to make something that people could find hope in, or redemption, or restoration, or forgiveness.
His close friendship with country icon Johnny Cash supplied the principal inspiration for his own prison recording. Collie was well aware of Cash's celebrated 1968-69 live albums recorded at California's Folsom and San Quentin penitentiaries. He also knew the impact that a 1959 performance at the latter facility had on Inmate #A-45200, better known as the legendary country star Merle Haggard. Without Johnny going to San Quentin, Collie says, there might not have been a Merle Haggard. A lot of lives were changed or made better as a result of that music. Collie began writing his own cycle of prison songs.
A top-flight crew of musicians was assembled, including guitarist Dave Grissom (John Mellencamp, Joe Ely), keyboardist Mike Utley (Jimmy Buffett, the Dixie Flyers), guitarist-mandolinist Tommy Burroughs (Memphis Riverbluff Clan), Collie's longtime accordionist Hassel Tekkle, bassist Willie Weeks (the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, B.B. King), drummer Chad Cromwell (Neil Young, Mark Knopfler), and guitarist-fiddler-vocalist and solo star Shawn Camp. Austin-based critics darling Kelly Willis, who takes lead vocals on two tracks, also supplied backup vocals on several numbers; the late Texas blues giant Clarence Gatemouth Brown is the album's other special guest.
Alive at Brushy Mountain embraces a breadth of American styles - country, blues, gospel, bluegrass, and rock n roll. It largely comprises striking original material, which contemplates the convict's lot with compassion, keen detail, and sometimes boisterous humor.LP 1

Skin DeepBuddy Guy's new album, Skin Deep is his 10th Silvertone/Zomba studio release and it features all original material as well as collaborations with fellow guitar luminaries Eric Clapton, Robert Randolph, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks.
Elaborating on his inspiration for the album title and song Skin Deep, Guy touches upon a powerful series of personal memories and observations on the ways in which were all the same underneath it all. I used to play with this boy, ride horses, down close to where I was born, he says. Then when we were 13, his parents made us stop. They used to say you had black blood or white blood, but wed get a flashlight and hold it up to our skin and wed just see red blood. Thats what I mean by 'Skin Deep.'
In a career spanning more than 45 years, Buddy Guy continues to add to his ever-growing legacy. At the age of 72, he graced the cover of Rolling Stone, as part of the magazines recent '100 Greatest Guitar Songs' issue (his cataclysmic 1961 recording of Stone Crazy made the list) and he also turned in a show-stopping performance in Martin Scorseses Rolling Stones concert film, Shine A Light. Guy has won five Grammy Awards, 23 W.C. Handy 'wards (the most any one blues artist has received), a Congressional Medal of Arts and Billboard Magazine's prestigious The Century Award for 'distinguished artistic achievement. In 2005 Buddy Guy was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by friends Eric Clapton and B.B. King.1. Best Damn Fool (Featuring Memphis Horns & Willie Mitchell)

Bossa Nova and Blues
This Sundazed Mono Edition Reproduces The Original Artwork And Presents The Original 12-Song LP On 180 Gram Vinyl Mastered From The Original Analog Reels And Pressed At Record Technology Inc.
One of the Three Kings of blues guitar along with B.B. and Albert, Texas-born Freddy (Freddie) King influenced everyone from Eric Clapton and Peter Green in the UK to Jerry Garcia and Stevie Ray Vaughan in the States. But even his staying up all night playing poker with Grand Funk wasn't enough to prevent his seminal King/Federal albums from staying out of print on vinyl for decades - until Sundazed came to the rescue. The reissue campaign that began with meticulously mastered editions of King classics Let's Hide Away and Dance Away with Freddy King, Freddy King Gives You a Bonanza of Instrumentals, and Freddy King Goes Surfin' continues with his rare 1963 offering, Bossa Nova and Blues. In the tradition of his surfing album, which wasn't really surf, Bossa Nova and Blues had no bossa nova - but the advertising was at least half true, and hey, there were two cuts that had "bossa nova" in the title. Though King was best known for blues instrumentals, "Bossa Nova Blues" and "The Bossa Nova Watusi Twist" (dig the dance craze threesome) were actually the only two instrumentals on an album otherwise dedicated to bluesy ballads. But of course, Freddie made it work - churning out bonafide classics like the karmic "Someday, After A While (You'll Be Sorry)" (later covered by John Mayall and the Blues Breakers on A Hard Road, also reissued on Sundazed mono LP), the emotive "The Welfare (Turns Its Back on You)," the soulful "It Hurts to Be In Love," and the more uptempo, New Orleans-flavored "You're Barkin' Up the Wrong Tree."1. Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story - The Soundtrack
First-Ever Career-Spanning Compilation Features Key Tracks From Ronson's Solo Albums, Collaborations With David Bowie, Elton John, Ian Hunter, Michael Chapman And Queen And Exclusive New Contributions From Joe Elliott And Mike Garson
Pressed On 2x Heavy-Weight 180-Gram Vinyl
UMe is pleased to announce the release of Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story, The Soundtrack. The album comes on the heels of the film's streaming debuts on Hulu and Amazon Prime following last year's successful theatrical run and the DVD/Blu-ray releases.
The soundtrack is the first official career retrospective compilation for the guitar virtuoso, Mick Ronson, known affectionately as Ronno. As well as highlights from Ronson's solo records, the compilation includes material from his key collaborations with David Bowie, Elton John, Ian Hunter, Michael Chapman and Queen. The album also includes a previously unreleased cover version of This Is For You by Def Leppard's Joe Elliott and a piano tribute to Ronson from Bowie's piano-man and band alumni Mike Garson (David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins). The soundtrack includes extensive essay & liner notes and will be available on heavy-weight 180-gram black vinyl.
For the career-spanning documentary, producer/director Jon Brewer (BB King: The Life of Riley, Nat King Cole: Afraid of the Dark, Jimi Hendrix: Guitar Hero, The Most Dangerous Band in The World) gained the unprecedented access and permission for use of materials relating to the life of rock hero Mick Ronson, who was largely commercially overlooked despite his direct contribution and pivotal involvement in countless iconic compositions of David Bowie and The Spiders from Mars.
Despite his production and guitar work with Lou Reed, Morrissey, Ian Hunter and Mott The Hoople, Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp and many others, it is Ronson's dynamic support, contribution, and co-creation of the expansive and multi-faceted career of David Bowie and in fact that era of music, that the film and this soundtrack exposes. Featuring exclusive narration by David Bowie and exclusive contributions by Rick Wakeman, Joe Elliott, Roger Taylor, Ian Hunter, Angie Bowie and many more, Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story is a tribute to an uncomplicated man who achieved the pinnacle of success in the music industry as well as the rarefied respect from his contemporaries for his production and guitar skills.
His humble beginnings (in the northern English city of Hull) underpinned the values and modest, unpretentious personality of Ronson. Originally working with Hull City Council while he pursued his craft with consummate dedication, word of his talent reached Bowie who grabbed at the chance to work with Ronson, and from there rock history was made. The Man Who Sold the World, Aladdin Sane, Hunky Dory and Jean Genie were all constructed with Ronno on guitar. In 1974, he was voted #2 'Best Guitarist' in Cream magazine (notably Eric Clapton came in third).
Sadly, in 1993 Ronson passed away before receiving the recognition he so richly deserved before taking that final bow, as seen on film, at his last show. He had been making a solo album at the time, which was subsequently finished by his contemporaries. Emperor Media have achieved ultimate authenticity and access in chronicling the life and works of this man, an extraordinary talent who became a cornerstone of rock music and who stood Beside Bowie during one of the most memorable periods of his dazzling career.1.
