    Everything Scatter

Everything Scatter, originally released in 1975, is one of several masterpieces from early in Fela's mid-1970s purple period. In three extraordinarily productive years, Fela released 23 albums of new material (or perhaps 25 such albums, for the historical records are imprecise).

The purple period continued up to and immediately beyond the Nigerian army attack of 18 February 1977 which destroyed Fela's self-governing commune, Kalakuta Republic. By the time Everything Scatter was recorded, Fela had put all Afrobeat's key elements in place: the signature rhythms he had developed with drummer Tony Allen; edgy, jousting tenor and rhythm guitars; call and response vocals; fat horn arrangements and extended, jazz-based horn and keyboard solos; politically confrontational lyrics; and, crucially, the Broken English Fela adopted to take his message beyond Yoruba speakers.

    The Search For Everything

On his 10th album, The Search For Everything, John Mayer meditates on getting older. "Time's been talking to me/Whispering in my ear," he sings on "Changing," a wistful song about embracing life's complexities. While some of the album's songs read like diary entries from a man in reflection, others display a forward momentum. Shrugging off some of that inner torment in the name of fun, The Search For Everything is loose, lively, and delightfully diverse, finding him dabbling in funk, folk, blues, and soul, with support from the John Mayer Trio.

It's taken John Mayer two decades to sound this peaceful, and now, he wants us to go with the flow, too.

Since the release of Weirdo Rippers (2007), through Nouns (2008), and beyond, LA duo No Age has earned enthusiastic notice from Pitchfork to The New Yorker, and found themselves unlikely Grammy nominees. Everything In Between sees No Age expand on the emotional force at the core of their catchy song-writing through tone, structure, noise, and samples. They've pushed themselves in challenging and different directions, deconstructing their weird-out pop songs while still maintaining their original aesthetic and intent. The Sound Of Everything

Born out of late-night graveyard experimentation, Seattle's Thousands is comprised of guitarists/vocalists Kristian Garrard and Luke Bergman. The Sound of Everything, the duo's stark and original spin on modern folk music is one of the most gentle and serene recordings you're likely to ever hear. The band's debut album is solely voices, guitars, and an array of environmental sounds such as birds, leaves, wind, intentionally recorded along with the songs and untouched.

Each recorded live in one take, the songs on the album provide a musical snapshot of a moment in time, a picture postcard of the world as it was where and when Garrard and Bergman recorded each of these 11 songs. The two drove tirelessly across the Pacific Northwest searching for recording locations, settling on an abandoned silo, a barn and a riverbank as the perfect natural studios. Originally brought to the attention of Bella Union by Fleet Foxes' Sky Skjelset, Thousands have managed to fit the sound of everything cozily in between two headphones.

Counting Crows' 1993 debut album released for the first time as an LP in the U.S.!

Double album cut at 45 RPM, plated and pressed by Quality Record Pressings - four sides maximize the recording's dynamic range

Mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound

Counting Crows put in the gigging hours during the early days of the band, and it paid off. By the time they signed to Geffen in 1993, they had already built up a significant fanbase. Their debut, August and Everything After, produced by T-Bone Burnett, was released later the same year and became an unexpected multi-platinum hit, partly as a result of the successful single Mr. Jones.

Although recorded to audio tape, the album was originally mastered for CD and featured a longer playing time than a standard LP. Thus Analogue Productions has reissued August and Everything After as a double LP set to maximize the dynamic range of this recording. This is the first time that the 'Crows multi-platinum smash has been released in the U.S. as an LP. Mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound.

Vertical Scratchers is John Schmersal (ex-Brainiac/Enon, live Caribou,
and Crooks on Tape) and Christian Beaulieu (ex-Triclops!/Anywhere).
Vertical Scratchers formed in Los Angeles in 2012. John and Christian
met at a Thanksgiving party, began hanging out, and then just decided
to be a band together. John says, "I love Christian's drumming because
he approaches it like a songwriter, as he is one in his own right. There
aren't really drum fills-more like rhythmic accents that punctuate
what is happening at that point in the song itself."

One of the most persistent elements you will hear throughout the
record is the percussive nature in which the guitars were played and
recorded. Guitar playing is vertical scratching, and in this band, the
guitar strums are almost louder than the amps. John explains, "Part
of the aesthetic we were establishing when writing Vertical Scratchers
songs was to maintain a sense of urgency and raw energy without
relying on volume and distortion. I wanted the guitars to sound light
and jangly, and most songs were purposefully sung in a soft falsetto."
Most Vertical Scratchers songs clock in under the two-minute mark
but often go in twice as many directions as your average-length song.

    August And Everything After

When the prevailing guitar jingle of Mr. Jones cascaded over radio in the early '90s, it was a sure sign that the Counting Crows were a musical force to be reckoned with. Their debut album, August and Everything After, burst at the seams with both dominant pop harmonies and rich, hearty ballads, all thanks to lead singer Adam Duritz. The lone guitar work of Mr. Jones coupled with the sweet, in-front pull of Duritz's voice kicked off the album in full force. The starkly beautiful and lonely sounding Round Here captured the band's honest yet subtle talent for singing ballads, while Omaha is lyrically reminiscent of a Springsteen tune.

The fusion of hauntingly smooth vocals with such instruments as the Hammond B-3 organ and the accordion pumped new life into the music scene, and their brisk sound catapulted them into stardom. On Rain King, the piano takes over as its aloof flair dances behind Duritz with elegant crispness. The slower-paced Raining in Baltimore paints a perfectly gray picture and illustrates the band's ease at conveying mood by eliminating the tempo. Most of the songs here engage in overly contagious hooks that won't go away, making for a solid bunch of tunes. Containing the perfect portions of instrumental and vocal conglomeration, the Counting Crows showed off their appealing sound to its full extent with their very first album.

The project came together in the fall of 2017 while on tour, where Third Eye Blind has been finding joy and sanctuary by visiting local museums and galleries and booking time across the US and Europe - Ardent Studios in Memphis, a friend's house in Malibu, Hedgehog in DÜsseldorf -to record songs they love.

These mini recording sessions became celebrations of these artists. "The idea with this EP was to amplify some of that music and art, and in doing so, catch inspiration for our next album." Proceeds from Thank You for Everything will be donated to one of their favorites, the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.

The album art is a collaboration with Queens native Uncutt ("Protect Your Heart") and Warhol's Skull (1976). "It's a visual version of what we're doing with these artist's songs. We find art or music in one place, and then we take it someplace else. In both cases, I hope it will yield renewed interest in the originals," adds Stephan.

Juliana Hatfield is an American musician and singer songwriter from New England formerly of the indie rock bands Blake Babies, The Juliana Hatfield Three, Some Girls and the Lemonheads. She has also performed and recorded as one half of Minor Alps with Matthew Caws of Nada Surf and has performed with or made contributions to the Lemonheads, Belly, Giant Sand, Susanna Hoffs, Aimee Mann and Mary Lou Lord over the span of her career. Growing up in the Boston area, Hatfield acquired a love of rock music in the 1970s having been introduced to the Los Angeles punk band, "X." Hatfield transferred to the Berklee College of Music from Boston University, hoping to join a band. She formed the Blake Babies with Freda Love and John Strohm in 1986. She sang, played guitar, bass guitar and piano in the group. Blake Babies were signed to indie label, Mammoth Records, in North Carolina and received airplay on college radio during the early 1990s. Hatfield and Strohm shared songwriting duties and often sang together. The band toured the U.S. and Europe and made music videos. Hatfield received a degree in songwriting from Berklee during this period. The Blake Babies disbanded in 1991 but reunited briefly in 1999, performing shows that year and embarking on a US tour in 2001. They released the critically-acclaimed, "God Bless The Blake Babies," to coincide with the tour. Frequent collaborator, Evan Dando of the Lemonheads made a guest appearance on the album.

Following the immediate break-up of the Blake Babies back in 1991, Hatfield joined the Lemonheads to record their album, "It's A Shame About Ray," playing bass and providing back-up vocals. She played and sang with the band on and off between the years 1992-1993. Juliana released her first solo album, "Hey Babe," in 1992. The album was one of the highest selling independent albums of the year. She recruited a rhythm section consisting of former Moving Targets and Bullet LaVolta drummer Todd Phillips, and Thudpucker bassist Dean Fisher, becoming the Juliana Hatfield Three. The JH3 achieved arena-rock stardom with the release of 1993's "Become What You Are." Several songs from the album got regularly played on major US rock stations, with her song, "My Sister," becoming the biggest hit of her career. The song placed #1 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and the video became a staple at MTV. The track "Spin the Bottle," was used in the soundtrack for the film "Reality Bites" in 1994 and Juliana made the cover of Spin magazine. In 1995 following the success of "Become What You Are," she released her follow up album, "Only Everything," in which she "turned up the volume and the distortion and had a lot of fun." The album, her first for Atlantic Records, spawned another alternative radio hit in "Universal Heartbeat." Before engaging on a tour for this record, Juliana released Phillips and hired Jason Sutter, Ed Slanker on guitar and Lisa Mednick on keyboards. Two weeks into the tour, she canceled remaining shows due to a bout with depression. She recently released two well received solo albums, "Pussycat" last year and "Juliana Hatfield Sings Olivia Newton-John" this year.

ROG will reissue her solo album "Only Everything," on vinyl since it debuted 23 years ago and make it available in the US for the first time with deluxe packaging.

    Everything All The Time

Guitarist/vocalist Ben Bridwell and bassist Mat Brooke formed Band Of Horses in 2004 after the dissolution of their nearly ten-year run in northwest melancholic darlings Carissa's Wierd. Carissa's Wierd trafficked in sadly beautiful orchestral pop, whose songs told unflinching stories of heartbreak and loss, leavened with defeatist humor. Band Of Horses rises from those ashes. Buoyed by Bridwell's warm, reverb-heavy vocals (which channel a strange brew of Wayne Coyne, Neil Young, and Doug Martsch), the group's woodsy, dreamy songs ooze with amorphous tension, longing, and hope. Both raggedly epic and delicately pensive, this is an album painted gorgeously in fragile highs and lows.

Hellogoodbye: Everything is Debatable - Is everybody ready for an inspired cacophony of joyful sound contrasted with dark yet mature lyrics? If so, take a listen to Everything Is Debatable. This album is the sonic personification of live for today because you might not get tomorrow. The album deals extensively with death, but instead of descending into depression, the album explodes with energy. It's as if Hellogoodbye sees death coming and there's a lot on their bucket list, the culmination of which is a great album.

The concept of death leads off the album with the opening line to 'And Everything Becomes a Blur'. "All the friends we made along the way, everyone single one will pass away". Later in the album the concept is explored further with 'Die Young, Die Dumb; Not Soon' and with the album's closer, 'A Near Death Experience'. The final track vacillates between slow build, soaring self-exploration and almost jazz-inspired interludes. 'Die Young, Die Dumb; Not Soon' uses the concept of death as more of a joke. The plan of the title is to pass away before cynicism infiltrates your psyche: die before you're no longer open-minded, but hopefully "not soon".

The album is quite adept at dance tracks as well. '(Everything is) Debatable' is an inspired, danceable song. It is rich and full and it never leaves the listener bored. Every moment is complete with a new sound to hear, a new instrument being shown off. 'Just Don't Let Go Just Don't' is another really great dance track. This entire album is a clinic in how dance tracks can be exciting without being vapid. The electronic base line mixed with the real guitars and drums is brilliant. Hellogoodbye mixes the real with the synthetic like a brilliant designer. That blend is really what completes the album. A track is never fully synthetic or completely grounded with real instruments. The blend is always present and well thought out.

Probably my favorite song on the album is also its darkest. 'Summer of the Lily Pond' explores the details of disagreements and discovers that the author is in fact the one that "was wrong". The concept is explored with fantastic horns that capture the brassy feeling of regret. It is perhaps the least synthetic song on the album and its contrasting presence highlights the brilliance of the album.

Philadelphia's NOTHING have been destroying the eardrums of audiences throughout North America for the past 2 years with a magnetic blend of captivatingly dark and beautiful vocals and explosive, blown out, in the red guitar fuzz. On their debut full length Guilty Of Everything, recorded and produced by Jeff Zeigler (Kurt Vile, War On Drugs, etc) NOTHING seamlessly merge the huge distorted guitar sound of 90s/00s alternative rock giants My Bloody Valentine and Smashing Pumpkins with Jesu's introspective post-metal/hardcore. This is a triumph of a debut that successfully manages to be massively loud, darkly introspective and totally beautiful all at once.
