    These Changing Skies (Awaiting Repress)

The five members of Elephant Revival share a deep commitment to certain ideals: community, recognizing one's place in the flow of the natural world, harmony. Holding on to those ideals in the midst of heady career growth and strong individual
creative forces could be difficult, but they weather these storms with aplomb, and in doing so, have produced their best album to date. It is a document about striving for transcendence under These Changing Skies which was recorded at legendary
Bear Creek Studio in Woodinville, WA and was produced and mixed by Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Brandi Carlile, The Walkmen).

Elephant Revival formed on the banks of Spring Creek in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and then relocated to Nederland, Colorado in fall of 2006. They loved one another's sense of shared values and the way that their disparate musical influences began to form a more cohesive tapestry the more they played together.

"It really is a natural confluence of our elemental influences," says bassist/multi-instrumentalist Dango Rose. Those elemental influences extend beyond the musical to a world view that is expressed not only through the music, but in their lyrics.

    Total Life Forever

Antidotes, the acclaimed debut album by UK quintet Foals, won them attention, and the opportunity to evolve in a space of their own. Coming two years after that impressive introduction is Total Life Forever, the sound of a band settling into and surveying the decay of old protocols. Written primarily in the basement of their Oxford HQ and recorded in Gothenburg, Total Life Forever is an album as persuasive emotionally as Antidotes was physically.

Al DiMeola's second album Elegant Gypsy proved to become one of the defining albums in fusion. While being still a member of Return To Forever, DiMeola delivered his sophomore solo record after Land Of The Midnight Sun by collaborating with jazz rock giants Steve Gadd, Jan Hammer and Anthony Jackson. He even enlists Flamenco superstar Paco De Lucia on "Mediterranean Sundance", a song which predicts the style DiMeola would eventually evolve into: Latin tinged acoustic wizardry. Over a journey spanning nearly a quarter-century, moe. has let their knack for dynamic, democratic improvisation influence nearly every facet of the
band's existence. In concert, they stretch the boundaries of their source material into intricate, set-long suites where distinct songs seamlessly segue into
    one another in exhilarating fashion.

Behind the scenes, moe. continues to evolve - to test their musicianship and songwriting while growing as an ensemble - by applying the same
resourcefulness and willingness to take risks to their studio recordings. Their new album, fittingly titled No Guts, No Glory, finds moe. at their most inventive, infectious, and resilient.

    Life Fantastic

Life Fantastic is the much anticipated follow-up album to Rabbit Habits (2008), an album which inspired Paste magazine to proclaim of the band, They are what rock n roll is meant to be and, frankly, what most rock bands have forgotten altogether: these songs are fun. Working for the first time with producer Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes), Man Man have brought along the fierce energy of their renowned live shows while finding a new melodic voice on songs like Oh, La Brea with its Harry Nilsson music hall touches, or Life Fantastic loping along to a classic David Bowie piano vamp. Expanding their palette while keeping the found instruments, Man Man continue to evolve into an entirely new form of propulsive pop music.

    Tunnel Blanket

Tunnel Blanket is the second long-player from the Texas four-piece This Will Destroy You and follow-up to the band's well-received eponymous 2008 debut. Tunnel Blanket delivers the epic-in-scope soundscapes that followers of its makers previous recordings are accustomed to, but presents them in new lights, where once the sun shone down bright upon immediate tropes and traits, now their work is better suited to distant starlight, casting changeable shadows across vistas of inspired, ambitious ampli cation. This is not an album to pick through in search of bold hooks and instant melodies. It is an ever-shifting, always moving work, which seems to evolve before the listener, spidery guitar lines feeling their way forth like vines scrambling up trunks in time-lapse photography.

    Try Me

Your favorite band's favorite band, Self Defense Family enjoys a distinct renown within the punk community. Well-respected and critically lauded but difficult and idiosyncratic, the band has done things their way almost to a fault. Eschewing sing-alongs and easy anthems in favor of personal lyrics, they stand apart from their contemporaries in punk and hardcore. Their strangely tense guitar-work framed within otherwise hook laden songs lends the band an unmistakable sound. Opting to be heavy in emotion rather than heavy in sound.

Led by vocalist, lyricist, and personality Patrick Kindlon, Self Defense Family have extended their branches to organically include touring and session musicians. Allowing them to evolve into a musical collective with more than ten active members at any given time. Interestingly enough, no member of the assemblage has played every show or played on every recording by the collective.

Try Me is Self Defense Family's latest full length offering.

    Depression Cherry

Beach House is Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally. We have been a band for over a decade living and working in Baltimore, MD. Depression Cherry is our 5th full-length record and was recorded at Studio in the Country in Bogalusa, Louisiana from November '14 through January '15. This time period crossed the anniversaries of both John Lennon's and Roy Orbison's death.

In general, this record shows a return to simplicity, with songs structured around a melody and a few instruments, with live drums playing a far lesser role. With the growing success of Teen Dream and Bloom, the larger stages and bigger rooms naturally drove us towards a louder, more aggressive place; a place farther from our natural tendencies. Here, we continue to let ourselves evolve while fully ignoring the commercial context in which we exist.

    The Psychedelic Swamp

The Psychedelic Swamp is Dr. Dog's ninth album, and third studio release with ANTI- Records. Most of the songs were among the first ever written together by Scott McMicken and Toby Leaman and an assemblage of friends and musical cohorts that would evolve as Dr. Dog over the years. This early endeavor of writing a concept album helped shape their creative process as they became a label-defying multi-hyphenated indie-psychedelic-rock-folk-Americana-basement-touring band.

The Psychedelic Swamp could very well have been Dr. Dog's first album. It could have been their only album; or it could have never been made at all. It's either a refined culmination of 15 years of collaborative music-making or the raw instrument on which they cut their teeth. This chicken vs. egg debate will be for historians to decide; fact is that if The Psychedelic Swamp was half-baked back in 2001, it has been reborn in 2016, fully baked.

Incite ignite heavy metal once more with their fourth full-length album and highly anticipated metal record for 2016 Oppression [minus HEAD Records]. Since the release of their full-length-debut The Slaughter in 2009, the Phoenix, AZ quartet has shared stages with everyone from Dillinger Escape Plan, Cancer Bats, and 36 Crazyfists to Crowbar, Soulfly, and Cavalera Conspiracy in addition to headlining countless gigs.

Over the course of two more explosive offerings, All Out War [2012] and Up In Hell [2014], they've earned acclaim from Kerrang!, ARTISTdirect, and many others as well as "Album of the Week" honors from Revolver. Songs such as "Army of Darkness" charted Top 40 on the SiriusXM metal charts. However, 2016 sees the band evolve into a more brutal and brash beast ready to claw its way to the genre's upper echelon one show at a time.

    Dead Ringers

First Proper Full-length In Over 4 Years

Mastered By James Plotkin (Sunn 0))), Isis, Pelican, Zombi)

Dead Ringers, HORSEBACK's newest full-length album, is a lush, heady, and singular blend of organic and synthetic textures. The new LP sees the one-man Chapel Hill, NC experimental project continuing to evolve while staying true to their distinctive sound. Written, produced, engineered, and mixed by the mastermind Jenks Miller, Dead Ringers finds HORSEBACK weaving a bright web of drone, kraturock, shoegaze, metal and psychedelic elements, driven by wispy guitars, synths, beats, and clean vocals, and bolstered by dense layers of hypnotic resonance. The music is heavy yet light, taking influence from the doomiest grooves and the nuance of minimal electronics, and is the most cohesive representation of HORSEBACK's musical vision to date.

Django Django - David Maclean (producer/drummer), Vincent Neff (vocalist/guitarist), Jimmy Dixon (bass) and Tommy Grace (synths) -- return, exploring new sounds with their third full-length album, Marble Skies. It's a concise and focused album that recalls their dynamic, genre-blurring debut and its handmade, cut-and-paste approach. Following the release of Django Django's 2012 Mercury Prize-nominated debut and 2015's Born Under Saturn, the process for Marble Skies began with a back-to-basics approach in line with the DIY ethos of the band's early days. In late 2016, Django Django (minus Maclean) assembled at Urchin Studios in Tottenham, London with Metronomy drummer Anna Prior to experiment with new material. After ten days of recording, there was plenty of raw material to send to Maclean for him to edit, refine and evolve before the band rejoined for recording proper. Marble Skies was completed in mid-2017 in their small, equipment-crammed studio in north London - a similar environment to the first record, which was recorded in Maclean's bedroom.

    Agents of the Underground

Over their tenure as the progenitors of the metal-infused punk sound, Strung Out have yet to get complacent. Instead, like a championship fighter that gets stronger with every round, they continually unleash a battering assault of technical guitar work and gripping melodies.

The band's latest full-length (7th overall), Agents of the Underground, is a triumphant defense of the title they've held for years. With blisteringly fast riffs, crushing rhythms, and powerful vocals, Agents of the Underground is quintessential Strung Out, yet, as with each succeeding release, the band manages to evolve their sound. This time around the band enlisted the producing talents of Cameron Webb (Motorhead, Social Distortion, Danzig, Pennywise) and from the very first moments of the album the success of the collaboration is overtly apparent. With passionate melodies that recall Strung Out's earlier albums and the ruthless aggressive music showcased on their recent releases, Agents of the Underground can be hailed as the perfect culmination of all their past efforts. As Strung Out fans have come to expect, the hybrid of raw pulsing emotion, scientific precision, and years of experience yields a product that far surpasses all imitators. Agents of the Underground is no exception to this, rather an escalation. One listen and you'll know exactly how the band maintains relevance and continues to garner new fans with each release.

    No Name No Color

Middle Class Ruts two members, Sean and Zack, have been playing together since they were teenagers, camping out in Zacks moms house in Sacramento to write and record their songs. The duo's first band, Leisure, dissolved in early 2003 after a few false starts, sending Zack to work construction and Sean to labor as a studio runner in LA. But they soon realized stopping wasnt an option. Sean moved back to Sacramento and Zack began driving up every weekend from LA to write and rehearse music. After a year of commuting up and down the California coast, Zack relocated as well, solidifying a future for the pairs new band, Middle Class Rut.

The band has spent the past four years crafting new songs and allowing the style and sound of their project to evolve and establish itself. The pair records every song they write together almost immediately in their rehearsal space, capturing the instantaneous spirit of a track while still in the moment. This means that each number is imbued with a distinct sense of urgency, almost like a snapshot of the moment of inspiration. The bands debut, No Name No Color, is a collection of these recordings, which they elected to use rather than attempt to recreate the spark of the original tracks later in a studio.

    Share The Joy

On their third album (and Polyvinyl debut) Share the Joy, Brooklyns Vivian Girls continue to sharpen and refine their transcendent mix of garage thrash, girl-group warmth and infectious pop hooksmanship.

The ten-song Share the Joy finds the threesome of guitarist/vocalist Cassie Ramone, bassist/vocalist Kickball Katy and new drummer Fiona Campbell, continuing to evolve and expand, building on the D.I.Y. achievements of their 2008 debut, Vivian Girls, and its 2009 follow-up, Everything Goes Wrong, while delivering their most memorable songs and most focused performances yet.

Share the Joy's musical and emotional depth is reflected on The Other Girls and Light In Your Eyes, each of which clocks in at over six minutes. The former tune manages to encompass hammering hardcore, Beach Boys-esque melodic bliss, Neil Young/Nirvana-inflected guitar frenzy and ethereal harmonic drone, while the latter closes the album on a triumphant note of surging sonic uplift. Elsewhere, Dance If You Wanna and Take it As It Comes rank with the band's most intoxicating pop confections, while Lake House and Vanishing of Time maintain a thoughtful, introspective tone that may come as a surprise to those who'd had Vivian Girls pegged as a lo-fi garage outfit.

Vivian Girls recorded Share the Joy at Rear House, the home studio run by Jarvis Taveniere (of the Brooklyn combo Woods), who engineered the album.

Philadelphia's Witch Hunt have joined the ranks of the Bat and offered up their 3rd & finest full-length yet! Formed in 2001 as a New Jersey trio, Witch Hunt soon moved their brand of aggressive punk to Philadelphia where they expanded their lineup to a four-piece and continued to evolve their sound as abilities caught up to ideas. That evolution is evident in their AT debut, Burning Bridges to Nowhere, which blends the primal rage of hardcore, the melodic-sense of Husker Du, and the moodiness of UK peace-punk into an album that will leave genre-purists scratching their heads and (hopefully) have ALL fans of hardcore-punk walking and/or rocking together a little more often!

Fans of AT's BlackNoise imprint and groups like I OBJECT and NAUSEA and even DISASTER STRIKES will love this, but anyone into melodic punk with screaming female vocals will also dig this! The LP has an insert & a printed inside dust jacket, and the CD is a handsome multipanel digipack!

    Versions

On the heels of her Conatus world tour, Nika Roza Danilova was offered an opportunity to perform at one of the most prestigious modern art museums in
the world, NY's Guggenheim. Rather than doing her standard electronic set she decided she wanted to work with a classical composer who could arrange her
songs for a quartet. She recruited legendary industrial pioneer JG Thirlwell (Foetus) to do the arrangements who since his work as Foetus, has been scoring and composing symphonic arrangements for a variety of projects including currently scoring Adult swim's Venture Brothers series.

Thirlwell's oeuvre runs the gamut from orchestrations, big band, and cathartic noise-rock to abstract electronics, sound sculpture, and chamber music, thus making him the perfect collaborator to help realize Danilova's vision. Danilova explains her intentions with this album, "Versions is about the bone of the music; taking approximations from past records and turning them inside out. With all framework exposed, the songs are given a new medium in which to evolve and bloom into their own tiny worlds."

Removing the bulk of electronics from these songs gives them the space to breath, thusly opening them up to be received by a much wider audience who perhaps don't haven't previously ventured into the techno-pop/ industrial arena.

    Life In The Midwater

Often when you're in your mid-20's heavy realities start to settle in. Relationships that seemed like they'd last forever lose their spark, your aspirations and self-perception shift, you marvel at friends your age getting married and having babies, and you feel powerless and small, realizing that people you've known and loved for a lifetime can suddenly die. It's a serious psychological shakeup, made even more difficult if your frontal cortex hasn't fully matured yet. It's a beast, a mountain, a wall, or as in Kubrick's 2001 A Space Odyssey, a mysterious obelisk that pushes you to evolve like it or not. For better or worse, parts of us die, new parts come to life, and if we're lucky we emerge smarter, stronger, and more resilient. It's no surprise that for ages we've felt a deep sense of connection with music, art, and films inspired by this metamorphosis. Aisha Burns' Life in the Midwater provides a snapshot of the rough stuff, but with a delicate sensitivity and wisdom beyond her years.

Burns' contributions as the violinist and occasional vocalist for the Austin band Balmorhea belie a nuanced songwriting prowess, and a dynamic and powerful voice. The album's title references a deep dark layer of the ocean that flows far below the surface, and just above what we call the deeps sea. Bioluminescent jellyfish often inhabit this layer of the ocean, emitting mysterious flashes of light despite the risk of exposing themselves to potential predators. Similarly Aisha's songs are dreamlike beacons in the inky abyss
