His new album Exactly Like This is his third release with Reference Recordings. It's MacLeod at his very best, in a richly detailed recording by Grammy-winning engineer Keith Johnson, made at Skywalker Sound in Marin County, California.

He records the same way, each of his original songs are offered with a fresh voice. Exactly Like This contains 11 new MacLeod originals reflecting and paying tribute to some of his diverse musical influences: Louis Jordan, Wes Montgomery, Jerry Reed, Tony Joe White, John Lee Hooker, and even a little Duke Ellington. In his previous 19 studio albums, several live records, compilations, a blues guitar instructional DVD and a live performance DVD, MacLeod has consistently earned raves.
His songs have been covered by many artists including Albert King, Albert Collins, Joe Louis Walker and Eva Cassidy. He has co-written songs with Dave Alvin and Coco Montoya. MacLeod's songs have been featured in many TV movies and the hit show In the Heat of the Night. Two of his songs are on Grammy-nominated albums by Albert King and Albert Collins.
Doug MacLeod isn't just a blues guy, he's a singer/songwriter/storyteller and serious guitarist. He is one of the few modern artists doing all original material and traveling the country like a troubadour. Just Doug, headed down the road in his Honda, baseball on the radio, Siri by his side and a trunk full of music!LP1

Navigated Like The SwanYoung Moon aka Trevor Montgomery is a craftsman. By day he's a skilled tile setter, a job taxing to both the mind and body. By night he's an equally meticulous and hard working musician, coaxing just the right tones out of his vintage drum machines and synths to carry his tales of love and redemption. As a tile setter and as a musician, his job is the same: assembling things of beauty to fill empty spaces. Descended Like VulturesRogue Wave's 2005 album Descended Like Vultures is now back in print on vinyl! Historians, rock critics and sports announcers have all spent plenty of time waxing poetic about the sophomore slump, but don't waste any time pulling out that reference for Descended Like Vultures, Rogue Wave's second album for Sub Pop. While the album defies expectations as much as it defies the odds, singer/guitarist Zach Rogue knows the score: "That's the whole thing with the title," he admits. "It' like waiting for the other shoe to drop this perception that everyone around you is going to turn their back."
A related adage is that you have your whole life to write your first album and a year to write your second, but Rogue had anything but writer's block after completing Out Of The Shadow and seeing it re-released by Sub Pop in 2004 (the original, limited pressing was released on the band's own label in early 2003). In fact, the group entered the studio at the end of March with more than enough material for a full-length (three albums worth, to be exact).
"I've wanted to record records for years and years, so really, it's like someone opened the door for me to get started," explains Rogue. "I feel like Descended Like Vultures is actually the beginning this is really where we start." Though Rogue assembled the Oakland, CA, quartet which includes fellow multi-instrumentalists Pat Spurgeon (focus: drums), Gram LeBron (guitar) and newest member Evan Farrell (bass) in late 2002, Descended Like Vultures is the first time the band's leader has ever made a record with a whole group in the studio. The band spent 10 days with Bill Racine (who also produced Out Of The Shadow with Rogue) at Supernatural Sound in Oregon City, OR, resulting in the creation of 11 tracks that journey through a dreamy landscape inspired by several decades of classic rock and pop (from Fleetwood Mac to Neil Young to My Bloody Valentine.)
The Mark Kozelek-esque "California" and the XTC-flavored "Catform," which sports Rogue's most dazzling vocal performance to date both feature cold yet inspired examinations of human nature informed by Rogue's experiences on the road. For the first time as an entire unit, Rogue Wave went out of its way to create a free-flowing album that includes equal amounts of tension, release and resolution. In the process they have made a brilliantly layered, expertly crafted album that changes shape with repeated spins.1. Bird On a Wire

I Like My Mice (Dead)/Spiderbite7'' vinyl single with picture sleeve
The mysterious goth milquetoast 'Mildred' appeared before Jack White at a hardware store in Kentucky. She had no demo to give, nor guitar with her, so instead she sang her song 'I Like My Mice (Dead)' at the top of her lungs in front of several hardware store customers before quickly walking out of the store in shy earnest. Mr. White immediately followed her to the sidewalk and signed her to a Third Man single contract.
She hails from the Mammoth Cave area, but hasnt given the staff an age, or current address! (...dont worry well be holding her royalty checks here for her.)
In fact her mother dropped her off at Third Man studio for the single session and waited patiently in a Winnebago outside the studio until Mildred was done recording. Mildred showed up with a very cool Gretsch Princess guitar but called it a 'Gitch'. Her band The Mice were even less forthcoming than she was, asking only for a copy of the record when it was done. Luckily, we were able to snap a few shots of them at the Third Man headquarters before they headed back to Kentucky.
The two songs available now are nothing short of remarkable, and were recorded live to 8 track in one take.
Jack White has given this recording the special Third Man catalog number of #003 stating; 'this is exactly the kind of record we want to put out.'Side One1. I Like My Mice (Dead)Side Two1. Spiderbite$6.99Vinyl LP 7'' Single - Sealed Buy Now
Blood, Sweat, & TearsWith his Presley-like mystique, a strapping baritone voice and songs with universal lunchbucket appeal, Johnny Cash reached one of many career high-water marks with his sprawling 1963 epic, Blood, Sweat And Tears. From the perspiration-drenched, eight-minute version of The Legend Of John Henry's Hammer to Busted, Harlan Howard's down 'n' out hard-luck story, Cash made everything he recorded sound like it had been written just for him. This exact replica of Cash's 1963 classic -on rock-busting 180-gram Sundazed vinyl- shows Cash once again straddling the worlds of country, folk and pop like a black-clad behemoth: a once-in-a-generation artist whose revered work will live on forever.1. DJ Krush is a prime example of how Hip Hop can save your soul. Krush took his girl to see Wild Style, the first motion picture dedicated to this new artform. He was hooked. Building and buying his own equipment, he became one of the first Hip Hop djs and producers in Japan. Aside from being one of his country's pioneers, he established himself as one of the most prolific producers, changing the face of Hip Hop with his experimental beats and instrumental sounds.
'Zen' is Dj Krush's seventh album and features collaborations with Black Thought and ?uestlove of the Roots (on different tracks, mind you), N'Dea Davenport of the Brand New Heavies and Zap Mama, as well as unknowns from the Japanese Hip Hop scene. The beats he creates are organic, at times defying any genre-descriptions, which is exactly how DJ Krush likes it.

ADAD-JOY-7959xMike Adams At His Honest Weight
Best Of The Boiler Room ClassicsIt's been over three years since Oscillate Wisely, the debut album from Mike Adams At His
Honest Weight. A lot has happened to all of us since then, but it was a particularly action-packed time for ol' Mike. His newborn son requiring emergency heart surgeries immediately
after birth (doing ne now!), his former rock band of nearly 10 years calling it quits, and plenty
of other heavy things have helped shape the follow-up, Best of Boiler Room Classics, into one
of the most believably moving albums to come around in a long time.
But forget about all that stu for a minute because we need to talk about how great these
SONGS are! And these are real songs, daddy! Verses, choruses, hooks, bridges, you know,
well-written timeless songs that at least some of us will be listening to 50 years from now. The
same mixing/mastering team of Adam Jessup & Eric Day have returned and have really taken
their time to make this album sound like exactly one million bucks. The thoughtful, hard work
that went into this record has resulted in something truly special, like a Midwestern Tusk made
by fun, lovable people who actually get along really well.
Best of Boiler Room Classics has the subtle, earnest warmth of an album like the Clientele's
Strange Geometry but with the arena-ready grandeur of ELO's Out Of The Blue. While there is
an unforgettable instant catchiness to these songs, there is a depth, both lyrically and musically,
that makes repeated listens a delight.
While this is not a country album by any means, songs like "Count On It" and "Don't Want It,
Don't Get It" nd Mike's comforting words gripping your heart like an old Roger Miller ballad.
Speaking of "Count On It", just wait until those actual strings kick in at 2:27! It'll do something

Among The Ghosts (Pre-Order)Lucero's ninth studio album, Among the Ghosts, is their first for noted Nashville indie label Thirty Tigers. It was recorded and co-produced with Grammy-winning engineer/producer and Memphis native Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, Margo Price, Drive by Truckers) at the historic Sam Phillips Recording Service, the studio built by the legendary producer after outgrowing his Memphis Recording Service/Sun Studio.
Recorded primarily live as a five-piece, Among the Ghosts eschews the Stax-inspired horns and Jerry Lee Lewis-style boogie piano featured on some of the band's past recordings for a streamlined rock & roll sound that pays homage to their seminal influences as it seeks to push that legacy into the future. For a band who carried the torch of the alt-country movement back in the 90's and helped pave the way for what is now called Americana, Lucero have re-discovered what inspired them in the first place. The sound is more their own and at the same time not exactly like anything they've done before. This is a band settling into their craft. The 10-song disc's title is both a tribute to the spirits which roam the streets of their fabled city, as well as the hard road the determinedly independent band set out on 20 years ago. The band played around 200 shows per year for many of those 20 years.
With a nod to his younger brother Jeff Nichols, an acclaimed filmmaker whose movies include Loving, Mud, Take Shelter, Midnight Special, and Shotgun Stories; Nichols has written songs that are cinematic short stories, steeped in Southern gothic lore. There are nods to regional authors like Flannery O'Connor and Faulkner, as well as newer writers like Larry Brown (Big Bad Love, Fay), Ron Rash (The Cove, The World Made Straight), and William Gay (The Long Home).
As the first album he's written since his marriage and the birth of his now two-year-old daughter Izzy, Nichols approached the task as a narrator rather than in first person. It's a dark palette that includes tales of a haunting ("Among the Ghosts"), a drowning ("Bottom of the Sea), a reckoning with the devil ("Everything has Changed"), a divorce ("Always Been You"), and a shoot out ("Cover Me"). And that's just Side A. Side B is a letter from a battlefield ("To My Dearest Wife"), a crime ("Long Way Back Home"), a straight-out rocker ("For the Lonely Ones") and even a spooky spoken-word cameo from actor Michael Shannon, who has appeared in every one of Nichols' brother's films. The song's title "Back to the Night" references a line from Nick Tosches' Jerry Lee Lewis biography, Hellfire. In addition, there's a song Nichols wrote for his brother's movie Loving, which appeared in the film and on the soundtrack, re- recorded for Among the Ghosts with the whole band.
"You could also say there's a rescue, a getaway, a survival story and a middle finger to Satan himself," laughs Nichols. "It's all in your perspective."
Several songs juxtapose going off to battle with a rock & roll band's endless touring, shifting time periods like the spirits which haunt the album, the happiness of domestic bliss undercut with fears of loss and the specter of mortality. Among the Ghosts simultaneously reprises the past and looks to the future, while being firmly anchored in the present.
Musically, the band highlights range from co-founding member Brian Venable's Dire Straits-meets-War on Drugs guitar pyrotechnics in "Bottom of the Sea" and "Cover Me" to the Springsteen vibe of "For the Lonely Ones," Rick Steff's skeletal piano lines on "Always Been You," John C's bass lines in "Everything Has Changed" and "Long Way Back Home," and drummer Roy Berry's dynamic shifts from the powerful and brutal title track "Among the Ghosts" to the marching drive of "To My Dearest Wife" and the subtlety of "Loving." Throughout, Nichols' bourbon-soaked growl has become even more distinctive and commanding.
Among the Ghosts offers a timeless perspective on Lucero's distinctive sound. The lyrics could've been written 200 years ago or yesterday. Representing a new South compared to the one that's been mythologized, Lucero have formulated their own ideas and culture which, in some cases, contradicts what came before them (no Confederate flags), but also updates and reconsiders those traditions in a new light.
"I think we've tried to remake this place that we love and cherish in our own fashion. We are very proud of where we are from and we've spent the last 20 years trying to bring a bit of our version of home to the rest of the world It may have taken 20 years, but everything has fallen in place right where it needs to be," acknowledges Nichols. "There were some dark days in those middle years, but we've learned how to do this and survive. We still write heartbreak songs, but now, with a family at home, it's a whole new kind of heartbreak."
Among the Ghosts lays out that new territory with alacrity, as Lucero shines their Morning Star, burning just as brightly, if not more so, 20 years later. As one of the album's song titles so aptly puts it, "Everything Has Changed," but one thing hasn't Lucero's music remains more vital than ever.1. Among the Ghosts

Jackleg Devotional To The HeartJackleg Devotional to the Heart is The Baptist Generals' sophomore album. The Denton, TX band, known for its haunting, claustrophobic take on drunken folk, needed ten full years to bare its hearts, after Chris Flemmons recorded the album's first attempt in 2005, and then trashed it because, according to him, it sounded like any other indie rock-type band. So Much MoreDennen's soulful album is a folk rock revelation...if you're one of those Paul Simon fans who wish he'd return to 'Graceland' already, we've found just the tune for you. But it isn't exactly a 'Graceland' tribute; there are also shades of Joni Mitchell and James Taylor. And the meditative 'I Asked When' is a positively Dylanesque protest song - Washington Post. The dude has a gift for hooks. But unlike Gavin DeGraw or Jason Mraz, Dennen has something to say, putting him closer to skilled songsmiths like Jeff Tweedy and Ray LaMontagne, who also combine seductive voices with relatable premises. Hellbilly DeluxePicture Disc
Just as White Zombie was on the verge of becoming the most popular metal band in the land, Rob Zombie decided he was an auteur. Stopping short of breaking up the band, Zombie set out to make sure everyone know that he was the main force in the band, as if there were any doubt in the first place. He did extracurricular animation, managed a band, started a record label, drew a sequence in Beavis & Butt-Head Do America, appeared in films, wrote the script for The Crow 3 (which he planned to direct), and most tellingly of all, he recorded a solo album, Hellbilly Deluxe. Since White Zombie was always his baby, it seems a little strange that he had the need to break away from the group, especially since the album sounds exactly like a White Zombie record, complete with thunderous industrial rhythms, drilling metal guitars, and B-movie obsessions. For most listeners, it doesn't matter if Hellbilly Deluxe is technically a White Zombie or Rob Zombie album, since it delivers the goods, arguably even better than Astro-Creep: 2000. To outsiders, the entire schlock enterprise may seem ridiculous or sound monotonous, but even the weak cuts here hit hard and give fans exactly what they want.

The Smallest LightDaisyhead is made up of Zach Chiarizzio (bass/vocals), Michael Roe (vocals/guitar), Curtis DuRard (guitar) and Chad Burroughs (drums). The band's sound takes listeners back to the heyday of the 90's post-hardcore/alternative rock and early 2000's era of Revelation Records while injecting their own unique edge and style. In 2013, they released their debut EP, I Couldn't Face You, which helped established the band as one of their scene's most promising newcomers.
In the fall of 2013, Daisyhead joined No Sleep Records and released a split EP with Have Mercy early the following year. After touring in support of the release the band entered the studio in the fall of 2014 to record their debut full-length record, The Smallest Light.
The Smallest Light is a record with thoughts shared by each member of the band, which makes it so much more special to me, says Roe. We wanted to be sure our first LP was one we were all really proud of, and that's exactly what it is. It's a pleasure to be releasing a record alongside some of my personal all time favorite records. I can tell that this record would not nearly be the same if it wasn't this exact lineup. Everyone equally shared the responsibility of making it what it is, and that becomes apparent when you learn more about the meaning behind the songs.
After several years of touring and EP releases, Daisyhead has arrived with the debut fans have been waiting for. From the infectious and anthemic jams of "Take" to the massive sing-along hooks in tracks like "Lacking Basis" and "I Didn't Deserve This," The Smallest Light proves even further that Daisyhead will be a staple in the scene for years to come.1. HurleyWeezer return to their indie rock roots on Hurley, their first release on Epitaph and the start of a new chapter in the bands storied career. In many ways, Weezer have always been the unlikeliest of pop bands, earning major radio and video play for left field singles like Undone and Buddy Holly, songs that hardly seem calculated to become radio hits. It is exactly this uncalculated quality that the band returns to on their eighth album. Hurley is as warm and embracing as the glowing smile on actor Jorge Garcias face that graces the cover, as ragged and endearing as fan favorite Pinkerton, as bold and hooky and open as Pork and Beans. And as if that wasnt confusing enough, Rivers Cuomo co-writes with Ryan Adams and legendary Elvis Presley writer Mac Davis (In the Ghetto). In other words, Hurley is in the classic tradition of the best Weezer albums, goofy and confessional and geeky and easy to singalong to.1. Memories

Eyelid MoviesPhantogram's music sounds like it's made by a band from the city. Electronic loops, hip-hop beats, shoegaze, soul, and pop each find its way into their songs. Unexpectedly, the band doesn't live and work in a major urban center, but rather calls the town of Saratoga Springs, NY home. Despite the cultural influence of local Skidmore College (where fellow beat-experimenters Ratatat formed) Saratoga isn't exactly teeming with fans of J. Dilla, My Bloody Valentine or Serge Gainsbourg. Using various samplers, tapes, records, synths, drums, and both percussive and stringed instruments, Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel, the duo that make up Phantogram have allowed their natural surroundings and metropolitan influences to mix, resulting in brilliant, unusual recordings that are beautiful yet hard, dreamlike yet substantial, danceable yet smart.1. Ice On The DuneIt's exactly what electronic pop should sound like in 2013. Fresh, euphoric, youthful...it more than delivers on the promise of 2008 s million-selling debut Walking On A Dream and the fantastical imagery that made them a festival highlight wherever Steele strapped on his head-dress, said Q, awarding the album four stars in a lead review. Providence CanyonRecorded at Nashville's RCA Studio A with Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb, the album features eleven songs including King of Alabama.Already receiving acclaim, NPR Music's Ann Powers praises, Cobb, a troubadour whose classic country-rock songs are enhanced by his warm heart and keen eye, tells Mills' story with grace and discretion, as does the charming animated video...Cobb kicks out a Keith Richards-in-Muscle Shoals riff on his acoustic guitar and it melds perfectly with the organ to form a foundation that's pure, easy locomotion. Each verse follows another like the stretch of blacktop between exits, resolving in a chorus that's breezy and uplifting without unsettling the song's groove. Far from maudlin, Cobb's tribute does exactly what Mills did: it keeps on rocking, headlights on, until the last note.1. Providence Canyon

Out Among The StarsThroughout his five decades in music, Johnny Cash was unwavering in his dedication to his sound and style. Starting with Sun Records in 1955 through his days at Columbia and beyond, Cash always knew exactly what he wanted to do and exactly how it should sound. Everything he did, all the music he created was definitively Johnny Cash.
By 1980, the business of country music had changed to incorporate sounds that were incongruous with Cash's. His signature blend of folk and that boom-chicka-boom beat was out of vogue amongst the slick string-laden countrypolitan sounds that had become popular. This shift left all-time greats like Cash in the odd place of being revered, but not selling albums. In one effort to enhance his commercial appeal, Columbia Records paired Cash with producer Billy Sherrill who was having major success with this new country sound. While Sherrill selected many of the songs, it was Cash's trademark sound that dominated. The sessions were nothing short of magic. Cash employed an expanded band, featuring a young Marty Stuart on guitar and fiddle as well as long-time duet partners June Carter Cash and Waylon Jennings. Much of what was recorded was locked away in the vault lost and not to be heard again. Until now.
Discovered in 2012, Out Among The Stars is truly a lost, previously unreleased Johnny Cash album. These aren't alternate takes or different versions of songs that you've heard. These are brand new songs to the Cash canon. Completed in 2013 by Johnny's only son John Carter Cash, Out Among The Stars is a pivotal Johnny Cash album lost in time, and now ready to become a classic.1. Out Among the Stars
