    Expo 86

Recorded and mixed at Hotel2Tango, with Howard Bilerman, in late February and early March of 2010, Expo 86 is the name of the new and third album by Montreal's Wolf Parade. Expo 86 follows the band's 2008 album At Mount Zoomer. Recorded during a matter of weeks, Expo 86 finds Wolf Parade slimming themselves down to a four-piece lineup and continuing to explore the intersection of indie rock and post-punk.

    Bizarre Festival 1996 (Limited Edition)

    Limited Edition Red Colored Vinyl

By the time of their performance at the Bizarre Festival on 17th August 1996, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds were enjoying their most successful era to date. Their latest album Murder Ballads, released in February that year, was their best-selling record yet, having topped the charts in three countries and reached the Top 10 in a further five. This was aided in no small part by Nick Cave's duet with Kylie Minogue on 'Where the Wild Roses Grow', which was a worldwide hit and earned the band two ARIA awards. The video received repeated airplay on MTV, who would later nominate Nick Cave for Best Male Artist at the MTV Awards.

Nick and the Seeds toured Europe, Asia and South America in support of the album, and it is their entire performance at the Bizarre Festival that is included here. Recorded and broadcast on FM radio throughout the United States, who had curiously been left off the tour's itinerary, the group captured the dark, brooding nature of Murder Ballads perfectly in their set, which included too classics from their back catalogue such as 'The Weeping Song' and 'The Mercy Seat'. As a grand finale, the band were joined by PJ Harvey - with whom Cave was romantically linked at the time - for a rendition of 'Henry Lee'.

    My Life, My Way

So far we only reissued classic AGNOSTIC FRONT albums from the 80s and early 90s, but we all know this NEW YORK HARDCORE machine cant be stopped and that they are still going strong until this very day! Therefor the next reissue on STRENGTH RECORDS is one of the bands more recent, but certainly not their least records, 2011s MY LIFE, MY WAY! Originally released on NUCLEAR BLAST, the original pressing is already long gone and sold out, with some of the versions selling for top dollar on the known auction sites. We reckon that great music should be available for everyone who wants to hear it for a fair price, and MY LIFE, MY WAY can definitely be classified under great New York hardcore music with modern day classics such as City Streets, Us Against The World, My Way, Until The Day I Die and The Sacrifice!

    Transatlanticism

    Import

As musical lunacy goes, things have gotten as crazy as it gets for Death Cab for Cutie since 2002's You Can Play These Songs with Chords compilation. A wildly successful tour with Dismemberment Plan, a collaboration for singer Ben Gibbard with emo-electronic guru Dntel under the Postal Service moniker, and a whole new legion of fans swooning to Gibbard's lyrics as if he were a modern day answer to Kiss Me-era Robert Smith have all amassed considerable hype around Transatlanticism. But the group proves themselves more than equal to the task, answering the call and proving the cynics wrong with their most focused and most mature work in their entire catalog. Transatlanticism wastes absolutely no time and dives in head first with The New Year, one of the most melodramatic openings to an album since the Smashing Pumpkins' Tonight, Tonight from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. The mellow, mixed-meter percussion and dense atmosphere of Lightness is a brilliant lead into the pop-happy Expo '86 and The Sound of Settling before setting up the climatic and intensely dramatic title track. Unconsciously taking a page from Blur's Sing, the hypnotic drumming and guitar call and responses through the eight-minute climax of the album are backed with a singalong finale that unquestionably will have every audience on the next tour singing along and holding up their lighters. And while most albums would be left exhausted after such a track, the group keeps things moving, albeit at a much slower pace than compared to the anthems that packed the first half. Gibbard seamlessly makes the transition between songs that full out rock to songs that are comparable to Elliott Smith's finest hour with great ease. But it's Gibbard's poetic lyrics and signature introspection that remain a bench mark for Death Cab; and it's the group's maturity as musicians as well as songwriters that make Transatlanticism such a decadently good listen from start to finish. The band has never sounded more cohesive, the track sequencing is brilliant, and it caps off a triumphant year for not only Gibbard, but a band whose time and greater recognition is finally due. ~ Rob Theakston, All Music Guide

    Cry Cry Cry

    Etching On Side D

The soaring choruses, rousing anthems, sprawling guitars and chaotic keys that make up Wolf Parade are on proud display over the course of Cry Cry Cry, the band's thunderous first album in seven years. That unique combination of sounds and influences, spearheaded by electric co-frontmen Spencer Krug and Dan Boeckner-a complex yet relatable, energetic brew of glam, prog, synth-rock, and satisfying discomfort-helped define 2000s indie rock with three critically celebrated albums, and propelled a growing Wolf Parade fandom even after the band went on a then-indefinite hiatus in 2010.

The upcoming return marks their first to be produced by Pacific Northwest legend John Goodmanson (Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney, Unwound) at Robert Lang Studios outside of Seattle, and is accompanied by a renewed focus and the creativity of a band that took their time getting exactly where they needed to be. It's also a homecoming to Sub Pop, which released all three of the band's previous albums. "The band itself is almost a fifth member of the band, something more or at least different than the sum of its parts," says Krug. "We don't know who or what is responsible for our sound, it's just something that naturally and consistently comes from this particular combo of musicians." In the time apart, the band scattered geographically and focused on family and other work--Spencer on his solo project Moonface, Dan on his bands Handsome Furs, Operators, and Divine Fits (with Spoon's Britt Daniel), and Dante De Caro on records with Carey Mercer's Frog Eyes and Blackout Beach. And that time allowed for an even stronger, tighter band to emerge. Wolf Parade have always tended to make albums that react against their previous work.

Compared to 2010's relatively sparse rocker Expo 86, Cry Cry Cry is more deliberate in its arrangements and embrace of the studio process, as evidenced by songs like "Valley Boy," a Bowie-inflected anthem for which Spencer wrote lyrics after Leonard Cohen died the day before the 2016 election. "You're Dreaming," also influenced by the election and the spinning shock that followed, is driving, urgent power pop that draws from artists like Tom Petty and what Dan calls one of his "default languages" for writing music. The swirly, synth-heavy crescendo of "Artificial Life" takes on the struggle of artists and at-risk communities. The album carries a sense of uprising that is not unrelated to Wolf Parade's renewed determination to drive the band forward in uncertain times. Welcome to Cry Cry Cry.

Soundgarden achieved its biggest success with the 1994 album Superunknown, which debuted at number one on the Billboard charts and yielded the Grammy Award-winning singles 'Black Hole Sun' and 'Spoonman'. In 1997, the band broke up due to internal strife over its creative direction. After more than a decade of working on projects and other bands however, Soundgarden reunited in 2010 and their sixth studio album, King Animal, which was released two years later. As of 2012, Soundgarden had sold more than 10.5 million records in the United States and an estimated 22.5 million worldwide. VH1 ranked Soundgarden at number 14 in their special 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.

This LP includes Soundgarden's complete and stunning performance recorded for live broadcast at the Kitsap County Fairground in Bremerton, Washington, while on the 1992 Lollapalooza tour. With further, bonus cuts from the band's 1990 show at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, this 80 minute release will delight and enthral fan's universally, while providing a unique and collectable addition to every Soundgarden collection out there.

    Up The Dosage

    Includes Bonus Tracks

This is our Back In Black! The man who says this is called Blaine Cartwright, vocalist and guitarist of American rock band Nashville Pussy. Cartwright is referring to the latest Pussy album Up The Dosage, a recording consisting of 13 fast-paced, sharp songs (plus two bonus tracks) which impress with their homogeneity and stylistic complexity. The opener Everybodys Fault But Mine, with a wonderfully ironic title which reflects that sense of humour which is so typical of Nashville Pussy. Next comes Cartwrights personal fave Rub It To Death, a raw number. Also typical of Nashville Pussy is the title track which takes no prisoners from the first note, unfolding a thoroughly unrefined attitude through the driving bass.

Up The Dosage takes up seamlessly where the 2009 Pussy release From Hell To Texas left off and goes even further. Blaine Cartwright is rightly proud of and unmistakably happy about the new material: None of the previous Nashville Pussy albums has been as diverse and at the same time consistent. Everything sounds even bigger and better, yet raw and authentic through and through. The new album was produced by Nashville Pussy and sound engineer Brian Pulito at the Microsonic Studios in Lexington, Kentucky, a place where the band, despite their limited budget, found ideal conditions for a focused and inspired recording process.

What a difference two years can make ... Between their self-titled debut and this follow-up, Electric Wizard beefed up and distorted their sound and polished their song-writing and the result has taken them light years beyond what the first album achieved. For this reason alone, anyone interested in the band's history and how a young group can progress in leaps and bounds, these two albums are worth seeking out and hearing. The most obvious improvement in the band's style is the overall sound: thick and grimy textures in slower-than-slow guitar chords and riffs, accompanied by basic drum rhythms and a washed-out wailing vocal singing lyrics of despair at the present world and conjuring avenues of escape from the social and political oppression in our society.

We dive straight into the deep end with Return Trip, a crusty doom sludge song if ever there was one, with black grime peeling off riffs to expose a raw layer that quickly changes to hard and dark and bleeds off in turn. The song sticks to the straight and narrow: even an extended instrumental passage doesn't attract a wiggly guitar solo, and it's only towards the end the song acquires layers of melody and riffing to suggest the vocalist's increasing mental derangement. Jus Oborn's singing isn't great - it's more like chanting or shouting sometimes - but his voice has a rough, anguished edge suited to the lyrical content. Real life is cold, hard, tyrannical, unjust and abusive and for many people the only way to stay sane is to escape into one's own world through the portal of hallucinogenic drugs. Wizard in Black and Doom-Mantia take up where Return Trip leaves off: these are epic tracks that extend the sludge / stoner doom trip out further into the realms of psychedelia, the latter track featuring treated vocals and multi-tracked voices (or so they sound).

Ivixor B / Phase Inducer is a wonderfully trippy mindfuck of a piece featuring a seemingly endless loop of female chanting with bubbly guitar effects and lazy bass rhythm followed by an abstract spacey tone piece that probably fell from an old pre-Autobahn Kraftwerk album and needed a home, so why not here. The atmosphere is spooky without appearing sinister. The two separate passages of the track are combined in a way that suggests a breakdown in a spaceship's communications with Earth while the astronauts are overcome by strange cosmic forces that can't be understood by rational people. Very original and quite ingenious!

The remaining tracks on the album suffer for being footnotes to the instrumental track and the strong first half of the album. Son of Nothing is hardcore melodic rock with metal trimmings in style and its post-apocalyptic / sci-fi lyrics embody both hope and fear as the remnants of humanity flee a scorched Earth to find a new home. Solarian 13 brings up the rear with a mix of gently buoyant and seesawing grime-thickened guitar rhythms around which trippy ambient effects swirl and tease.

The album draws its strength from a more streamlined musical approach in which music serves to enhance each song and its subject rather than fill out empty spaces with frills or show off individual musicians' dexterity and master of their instruments; and also from powerful lyrical themes of alienation, global destruction and flight to new worlds whether internally in one's head as a form of escape or externally for survival. Fantasy, the apocalypse and its aftermath, and science fiction elements of space travel through drugs and spaceships, and human migration to new worlds combine with doom, stoner and sludge metal to generate an original piece of work in Come My Fanatics .... It's on this album that EW find their calling.

Filosofem (somber) is the fifth album from Varg Vikernes, recorded right before he was imprisoned for the murder of Mayhem's guitarist/leader Euronymous. The album expands on the synth/keyboard ideas put forth on Hvis Lyset Tar Oss, culminating in in the melancholy ode Dunkelheit, which was sort of a breakthrough song for this one-man band. Whereas the earlier Burzum albums still tended to reference traditional black metal, by the time of this recording Varg was off on a tangent by himself, and it shows in the chilling, otherworldly and occult melodies on display here. This also marks what was probably the true beginning of his obsession with minimalistic composing. Jesus' Tod, is an absolutely mesmerizing piece that centers around a single series of raw guitar riffs repeated until you are deeply lost inside the echoing hallways of this artist's iconoclastic genius for dark music. Many consider this recording to be his finest hour.

It's been 11 long years and now the world will finally see the return of Burzum. The highly anticipated new album is entitled Belus after the name of the ancient European solar deity of light and innocence. Belus is Burzum's 8th studio album, and the sound and music of the new album can best be compared to the music of some of the old Burzum albums; in particular the ground breaking Hvis Lyset tar Oss and the atmospheric brilliances of Filosofem, only the ambient parts present on these albums has been almost completely left out on Belus. Belus is a hard hitting and melodic guitar driven album and will firmly keep Burzum at the helm of the metal/black metal scene and arguably his best album to date.

    Live At Montreux 1996

Deep Purple need no introduction as one of the all-time great British rock bands. Their association with Montreux goes back to the early seventies, when their attempt to record their album Machine Head at the Montreux Casino was thwarted when it promptly burnt down, forcing them to make the album in the rooms and corridors of the Grand Hotel instead. The story was, of course, immortalized in their classic song Smoke On The Water which is the climax of this 1996 concert from the Montreux festival.

    Rocka Rolla

    Clear Vinyl

Rocka Rolla is the debut album by the British heavy metal group Judas Priest, released in 1974. It was produced by Rodger Bain, who had made a name for himself as the producer of Black Sabbath's first three albums. This album was played entirely live (i.e. all musicians playing simultaneously as in a concert, vs. the more popular method of each musician's parts being recorded separately and then mixing them)

    Sad Wings Of Destiny

    Orange Colored Vinyl

Sad Wings of Destiny is the second album by the British heavy metal group Judas Priest, released in 1976. The cover art for the album, titled Fallen Angels, was illustrated by Patrick Woodroffe. It is best known for introducing the pitchfork-like symbol known as the Judas Priest Cross, as worn by the angel. Sad Wings of Destiny was Judas Priest's second and final studio record made while under contract with Gull Records, an independent UK company. Despite critical acclaim, the band was struggling financially due to lack of support from the label. Shortly after changing management, the band severed their ties with Gull and signed with Columbia Records.

    Dopethrone

Re-issue of the bands seminal 2000 album Dopethrone!!! Probably the bands dirtiest, heaviest and most extreme release to date; cited by many as the pinnacle of their career. Following the demise of such legendary bands as Kyuss, Sleep etc; Electric Wizard took over the vacant throne of drug riddled earth moving Doomed rifferama. Often described as the heaviest band in the world; Dopethrone may well give you a clue as to why!
