We Fight Til DeathThis year Windsor for the Derby celebrates its tenth year with the release of its fifth full length, We Fight Til Death. Over those ten years Dan Matz and Jason Mcneely, have managed to arduously maintain this project over the many miles though are now newly relocated together in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia PA. Those years have seen personnel changes with much help along the way by their talented friends. Over the last few years, Timothy White and Ben Cissner have jumped on board to lend their invaluable assistance to WFTD and helped to create a solid quartet.
We Fight Til Death finds WFTD in Bloomington, Indiana with Dan Burton (Early Day Miners, Ativin) at the controls. This record was recorded and mixed over the last year at Burton's Grotto Home Studio with Burton and a few other locals sitting in. WFTD finds a way to take each release to a wholly different trajectory while at the same time creating a progressive connection to the last. The skewed pop sensibilities of The Emotional Rescue LP are hinted at on We Fight Til Death as well as the dark refrains of 1998's Minnie Greutzfeldt. By combining elements of previous releases and exploring new terrain, We Fight Til Death is Windsor For The Derby's most realized release to date.

The musical score for the 7th installment of The Fast & The Furious franchise is composed by Brian Tyler, an American composer, arranger, producer, musician, and songwriter. Tyler has composed scores for film, television and video games, including scores for the third, fourth, and fifth episodes of The Fast & The Furious.
Brian Tyler is easily one of the busiest composers around today. Tyler won Composer of the Year at the 2013 Cue Awards and was nominated for a 2014 BAFTA Award. In 2010, Tyler was inducted into the music branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. As of May 2015 his films have grossed $9.5 billion worldwide.

One Kiss Ends It AllIn their decade-plus existence, Saturday Looks Good To Me has never taken a typical path: endless line-up changes, shifts in sound from lo-fi 60's pop to experimental noise rock, a twisting discography heavy on one-off singles and bizarre package tours with afrobeat and freakfolk bands.
In 2012, bandleader and songwriter Fred Thomas returned with a fresh new line-up, including new vocalists Carol Catherine and Amber Fellows, but also with old friends from previous SLGTM incarnations like bassist Scott DeRoche and drummer Ryan Howard showing up for the fun.
The band's fifth proper album, One Kiss Ends It All, came together following the group's first tour after getting back in action, however the four years since their last full-length weren't spent cultivating this new batch of songs.
Instead, a spontaneous and breezy vibe flows through the album's 12 selections, drawing on the reference points of 60's pop and early indie rock, all filtered through the band's skewed pop lens.
Thomas' songs are always bittersweet, but short, uptempo rockers like Invisible Friend and Break In recall the open-hearted running melodicism of New Zealand kiwi-pop while more groove-oriented numbers like Polar Bear or Sunglasses meld electronic elements with the same sharp-edged attitude of the first Strokes album.
Even former SLGTM lead vocalist Betty Barnes (who now lives in Sweden) sings lead on two tracks: the doo-wop piano lament of Negative Space and the spare indie rock road trip The Ever-present New Times Condition.

Eight Miles High / Why (Mono)"Eight Miles High" b/w "Why" - The Rare RCA Studios Versions Original Mono Masters!!!
During an action-packed Byrds tour of the UK in August 1965, ideas began to form in Gene Clark's mind for a new song. After germinating for several weeks, he began to put his thoughts on paper during the band's U.S. tour in November 1965.
Traveling from gig to gig, David Crosby's cassettes of Ravi Shankar and John Coltrane provided the tour bus soundtrack. As Clark continued writing the song that would become ''Eight Miles High,'' this exotic music, especially Coltrane's recordings, found their way into the composition. Juxtaposed against lyrical snapshots of London, like ''rain grey town, known for its sound,'' the modal melody created a striking contrast and summoned a surreal, flight-like feeling.
Despite Clark's increasing isolation from the group, it was obvious that ''Eight Miles High'' was a work of major importance and the group promptly made plans to record it. The band entered RCA Studios in Los Angeles on December 22, 1965, to track ''Eight Miles High,'' along with a new Roger McGuinn- David Crosby song ''Why.'' They had worked up an explosive arrangement for the Clark song, adding elements culled from their recent highway listening sessions. The Coltrane influence is especially evident in McGuinn's electric twelve-string solo, inspired by Coltrane's free-form sax lines on ''India.'' Shankar's sitar work is reflected in Chris Hillman's driving bass part, a hypnotic drone against which McGuinn's guitar lines shine in high relief. This Eastern influence also emerges on the high energy ''Why'' with McGuinn creating a sitar-like solo on his guitar while employing non-Western scales. Though not a conscious attempt, these songs were later cited as pioneering examples of raga rock, one of several innovative sub-genres, along with folk rock and country rock that the band explored in their career.
Despite the unqualified artistic success of the RCA sessions, Columbia refused to release the tracks because they had not been recorded in a Columbia-owned studio. The band dutifully re-recorded the two songs at Columbia Studios in Hollywood and these recordings were released as a single and later included in the Fifth Dimension album. However, the band was not fully satisfied with this second attempt, believing that the RCA recordings were better.
This special Sundazed release marks the first use of the recently located original mono mixdown masters. McGuinn has always felt that the first recordings of these songs were more spontaneous. And when asked about the RCA version of ''Eight Miles High'' Crosby declared, ''It was a stunner, it was better, it was stronger. It was the way we wanted it to be.''1. Eight Miles High

Politico, the fifth full-length album by Mexican Institute of Sound (producer and songwriter Camilo Lara) is an album that almost wasn't. In 2011, an enormous amount of the explosive C4 was discovered next door to Lara's residence -- it was set to be detonated; by whom and for what purpose was never determined. In a recent interview, Lara said that he didn't deliberately set out to go into politics, but that politics had come to his house. These 13 songs, composed and assembled by Lara, address the chaos, destruction, tragedy, and violence that have become all-too-familiar elements in Mexican lives. Politico is a statement in the same way that the Clash's Sandinista! or the Sex Pistols' Never Mind the Bollocks were, but it isn't nostalgic. Nor is it sonically similar to either. Longtime fans of MIS may have some initial issues because there are vocals on almost every tune. But not only do they not they detract from the set's appeal, their urgent expressions add to it. While the topical nature of these songs is undeniable, it doesn't mean this isn't a fun record. Quite the opposite. Lara isn't didactic in his lyrics; these are personal observations, and in that way, carry more weight than slogans. His unique compositional style makes them musically irresistible, and compelling. He uses Mexico's and Latin America's folk forms -- cumbias, descargas, sons, corridos, mariachis, bandas, rancheras, cha-chas, rhumbas, pachangas, and more -- and hard welds them to slamming beats, layered melodies, and infectious keyboard grooves, all via a staggering yet organic-sounding mÉlange of samples from rock & roll, hip-hop, funk, house, disco, techno, etc. Check the wild marimba samples that introduce the melody to Tipo Raro, which originally appeared in the film Made in Mexico. Lara retains the melody throughout, but busts it from its context; he runs head-on into multi-tracked Farfisa organs, a deeply distressed beat, four-on-the-floor loops, rapping, and a brittle bassline that fires directly from the center. Especulando is a driving, funky electro jam. Es-Toy uses accordion and darkly tinged double trombones (à la Willie Colón), a pulsing organ, and chanted vocals. Elvis Aaron Presley was born during the Great Depression into a poor family in Mississippi. They moved to Memphis during the early
fifties, and as a struggling young truck driver, Elvis cut some demos as a gift for his beloved mother Gladys. These initial songs, of which he
had only paid a few dollars to record, would become the catalyst that would kick-start the beginnings of a soon to be worldwide superstar
unlike the world has ever known.
The folks at RCA Victor knew that this young fellow named Elvis was destined for superstardom. They quickly signed the legend to a
long-term deal, and his first RCA single Heartbreak Hotel forever etched "The King Of Rock And Roll" trademark to his name. He would eventually become the most successful solo artist of all time!
From the remainder of the 1960's into the late 1970's, Elvis Presley would release many more hit albums, smash singles and movies
before his untimely passing in 1977. Ever proving that he was indeed on top of his game, RCA Victor awarded their superstar artist and his fans
with the King's fifth greatest hits collection Elvis' Gold Records Volume 5.

Miles in the Sky reflects the intriguing curiosities and rainbow possibilities suggested by the album cover. Miles Davis' fifth and final album with his classic second quintet is kaleidoscopic in sound, forward-looking in structure, and contextually grounded in approach. As the legendary leader's first venture into what would become fusion, it's historical for containing the premier appearances of electric piano, bass, and guitar on a Davis effort. Laden with rich textures and style-bridging elements, Mobile Fidelity's 45RPM pressing brings the aural magic into focus.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, this collectable audiophile version of Miles in the Sky joins the ranks of eleven other essential Davis sets given supreme sonic and packaging treatment by Mobile Fidelity. Afforded the benefits provided by the record's wider grooves, Davis' burnished trumpet resounds with utmost clarity, and the soundstage seems to extend for days. Reference-caliber separation and imaging give each musician their own space, allowing every passage to come across without any sonic limitations.
The album's wide-open soundscapes soar. As do the fluid contributions of Davis' mates. Tony Williams' percussion, central to every composition here, transpires before your eyes. Herbie Hancock's piano hovers and fades with sublime purity. And George Benson, who sits on Paraphernalia, blows the equivalent of smoke rings with his bluesy guitar, which here takes on brilliant tonality and definition. The acoustic material that occupies the second half of the record is equally transparent and full-bodied.
Granted enhanced production and a greater field of audible information, Miles in the Sky can finally be perceived as belonging to the same upper echelon as Davis' ubiquitously acclaimed Nefertiti and Filles de Kilimanjaro--the albums that precede and follow, respectively, this watershed title. Commonly branded a transitional work, Miles in the Sky showcases Davis already at ease with electric instruments and eager to venture into uncharted territories. Doubling as organized jams and bridges between jazz and rock, both the rhythmically challenging Stuff and frisky Paraphernalia glancing toward the future while keeping solid footing in the past.
Similarly, so do Country Boy and Black Comedy. In his original review for jazz authority DownBeat, Larry Kart observes: Davis takes material from his earlier days and darkens its emotional tone. His opening phrase on 'Country Boy' recalls a fragment from his Summertime solo on the Porgy and Bess album, but here it is delivered with a vehemence that rejects the poignancy of the earlier performance. Even on 'Black Comedy,' his most straight ahead solo here, the orderly pattern of the past is displaced and fragmented.
Flavored with humor, bossa nova, country, and even ballroom phrases, the compositions on Miles in the Sky explodes with creativity, purpose, and color.
