FollowersKnown for their heart-stirring lyrics and chart-topping hit songs, Tenth Avenue North delivers once again with their brand new album, Followers. Lead singer, Mike Donehey, explains the album title saying, "When I search the gospels, I cannot find one place where Jesus asks anyone to be a leader. In fact, He doesn't even consider Himself a leader. He says, 'I don't do anything of my own accord. I just do what I see my Father in Heaven doing.' So if that's the case, there's one leader, and we're all followers." Songs from Followers include themes about finding hope in moments of confusion and chaos, overcoming fear, giving God control and pursuing what He wants. The Childhood Of A Leader OSTScott Walker's soundtrack to Brady Corbet's dramatic film, The Childhood Of A Leader, is his first OST work since his remarkable score for Pola X in 1999. His dramatic contribution is at the heart of the film, a tense semi-fictional film, inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre's short story of the same name, that follows the complicated formative years of young boy growing in France in 1918 who witnesses the signing of the Treatment of Versailles. Walker continues to work with long-term collaborators Pete Walsh (coproducer) and Mark Warman (orchestra, conductor), and were both involved in the live score performance by an orchestra of 80 that closed Rotterdam Film Festival last month.1. KoRn: one of the best-selling Nu Metal bands on the planet. Of their 8 studio albums the first seven have been certified platinum. 'Issues' was their first album after their mainstream breakthrough with 'Follow The Leader'.
On 'Issues' the hip hop elements of 'Follow the Leader' were removed moving the band in a more alternative and industrial metal sound rather than the so-called nu metal.
Although 'Issues' was released during a week of many highly-anticipated records, it debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 keeping Dr. Dre and Celine Dion from hitting #1. The first single from the album, Falling Away from Me, debuted on South Park in an episode titled Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery. Arisen New Era (Awaiting Repress)Blue And White Colored Vinyl
Unique Leader Records confirms that French death metal legion, KRONOS, will drop their Arisen New Era long player upon the masses. Recorded, mixed and mastered by David Potvin at Dome Studios (Lyzanxia, Arcania, Under The Abyss etc.) in Angers, France, the band's latest slab of audio menace features nine scalding tracks of unrelenting barbarity adorned in the distinctive cover art of Pierre Alain (Withering Soul, Silentlie, Cyrax etc.).
A name derived from the Greek god of time, Kronos (or Cronus), father of Zeus, KRONOSwas forged over fifteen years ago and quickly established a name for themselves based solely on their musical unity of harmony and violence. Featuring a continuous textual reference to the gods of ancient civilizations, KRONOS punctures ears with a heightened level of dynamics accomplished by only by a select number of bands. It all began in a small town in the Northeastern province of Alsace-Lorraine. Following various lineup shifts and musical experimentation, the pandemonium squad recorded their first demo in 2000. One year later, KRONOS would unleash their Titan's Awakening debut. Produced entirely by the band, the lethal creation lead to a union with French imprint Warpath Records. By the end of 2001, Titan's Awakening was expelled once again into the world, this time with a brand new cover designed by Deather (Gurkkhas, Vital Remains, Angel Corpse) as well as a visually disquieting booklet.
KRONOS later joined forces with Spanish label Xtreem Music run by Avulsed's Dave Rotten, for the unleashing of their next two full-lengths. Second offering, Colossal Titan Strife was discharged in 2004 to the applause of underground critics in the proverbial know. Metal Crypt commended the band's "diversified guitar work intricate drum patterns wicked guitar solos and.. good number of catchy yet non-compromising hooks," further insisting, "This French outfit is definitely worth checking out," while Sputnik Music championed, "an impressive album that shows off the capabilities of death metal done right. KRONOSmanaged to pack a metric ton of creativity into each song and you will barely hear the same riff twice." Added Last Rites simply, "worth your time if you need some solid, well-produced death metal." Third offspring, The Hellenic Terror, emerged in April 2007 and served as an attestation of the band's enormous capacity for skilled execution and originality. Said Metal Crypt in a near perfect review of the release, "The Hellenic Terrorcontains more melodic sections than Colossal Titan Strife, but still possesses almost as much brutality . KRONOS is one of the few death metal bands that manage to be melodic, brutal and still remain catchy as hell in their riffs and solos. This is definitely a must-have for fans of death metal."

Take A Look In The Mirror is the sixth studio album by American Nu-Metal band Korn, released in 2003. It is the first album self-produced by the band. Korn explained that they wanted fans to hear the music as it should be. They returned to a more aggressive sound as featured on their earlier albums, with guitarists Brian Head Welch and James Munky Shaffer mostly utilizing thick, heavy distortion and the occasional clean tones for contrast. The album peaked at number 9 of the Billboard 200 album charts and was certified platinum.
The track Did My Time was previously released as a single for the movie Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. The single debuted and peaked at number thirty-eight on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Korn's first top-forty hit in the United States. Did My Time gave Korn another Grammy nomination in the Best Metal Performance category. The track Right Now was accompanied by a provocative cartoon video animated by Spike and Mike.
The album also contains a reworked and re-recorded version of the track Alive, which had previously only been released on the band's first demo, Neidermeyer's Mind. The track Play Me features rapper Nas, making Take A Look In The Mirror the first Korn album since Follow The Leader to feature such a collaboration. Jonathan Davis plays bagpipes on Let's Do This Now, marking the return of a tradition that has previous to the album, only been absent on Untouchables.

The Quine TapesThe Velvet Underground's revolutionary mix of boundary-breaking sonic extremism and transgressive lyrical content changed the face of rock 'n' roll forever. It was on stage that the band's unprecedented vision truly came to life. But the band never made any official live recordings, leaving fans with the small handful of live Velvets tapes that have emerged over the years. Undeniably, the most comprehensive and compelling embodiment of the Velvet Underground's live brilliance is the bountiful cache of 1969 tapes recorded by Velvets fan and future alt-rock guitar icon Robert Quine (who would go on to play with the Velvet Underground's leader Lou Reed more than a decade later).
The Velvet Underground - The Quine Tapes is a definitive document of the live Velvet Underground. Captured on tape by Quine in San Francisco and St. Louis between May and December of 1969, the recordings feature the Velvet Underground's final lineup of Reed, guitarist Sterling Morrison, drummer Moe Tucker and bassist Doug Yule. The material includes incendiary performances of such seminal Velvets standards as I'm Waiting for the Man, What Goes On, Sunday Morning, Femme Fatale, White Light/White Heat, Venus in Furs, Heroin, New Age, The Black Angel's Death Song and Rock and Roll. Also included is a rare performance of the Follow the Leader, an original song which the band never officially released, as well as stunningly different versions of the epic Sister Ray.
These historic Velvet Underground performances are now available on vinyl for the first time ever. To commemorate the occasion, Sundazed Music has designed a lavish six-LP box set, with the discs packaged in three separate gatefold jackets and contained in a deluxe slipcase. The package features incredible new cover art commissioned especially for this vinyl release, plus rare photos, Verve label repro's, poster/handbill inserts, and detailed liner notes by Rolling Stone's David Fricke. In keeping with Sundazed's usual exacting standards, this set has been newly mastered by Bob Irwin from the original source material and is perfectly pressed on high-definition virgin vinyl.

Complete CommunionNot counting a couple of sessions he co-led with John Coltrane and Albert Ayler, Complete Communion was the first album Don Cherry recorded as a leader following his departure from the Ornette Coleman Quartet. It was also one of the earliest showcases for the Argentinian tenor saxophonist Gato Barbieri, who Cherry discovered during a stay in Rome. While the music on Complete Communion was still indebted to Coleman's concepts, Cherry injected enough of his own personality to begin differentiating himself as a leader. He arranged the original LP as two continuous side-long suites, each of which incorporated four different compositions and was recorded in a single take. In practice, this meant that several melodic themes popped up over the course of each side; all the musicians free-associated off of each theme, engaging in intense, abstract dialogues before moving on to the next. As the album's title suggests, every member of the group not only solos, but shares the total space selflessly. Bassist Henry Grimes and drummer Ed Blackwell both play extremely active roles, especially Grimes, who solos powerfully and sometimes carries the main riffs. Often the music sounds more like a conversation, as opposed to a solo with support, because the musicians make such intelligent use of space and dynamics, and wind up with a great deal of crackling, volatile interplay as a result. The leader remains recognizably himself, and his burnished tone is a nice contrast with Barbieri's fiery approach; for his part, Barbieri's playing has a lot of speechlike inflections, and he spends a lot of time in the upper register of his horn, which makes him sound quite similar to Ornette at times. As a whole, the project comes off remarkably well, establishing Cherry as an avant-garde force to be reckoned with in his own right.

Jakob Bro: guitars
Thomas Morgan: double bass

Gefion is Danish guitarist Jakob Bro's first ECM album as leader, following recordings for the label as sideman with Paul Motian and Tomasz Stanko. Like the work of those masters Bro's balladeering distils a sense of jazz history in its specific and highly personal atmospheres. The open forms of Bro's compositions leave plenty of space for his companions - drum legend Jon Christensen and creative bassist-of-the-moment Thomas Morgan - to make their statements, interactively and in parallel. And there is space too for the listener's imagination to follow the flow and the delicate melodic tracery of Bro's electric guitar in this thoughtful and poetic album. UNIM-ECM-0245xJakob Bro, Thomas Morgan, Joey Baron
StreamsOn his second leader album for ECM - following on from the prizewinning Gefion - Danish guitarist Jakob Bro continues to refine his trio project, with its emphases on melody, sound, space, layered textures and interaction. The rapport between Bro and Thomas Morgan (Bro calls him "my musical soul mate") has become something extraordinary, and often guitarist and bassist develop improvisational ideas in parallel. There's a historical aptness, too, in the choice of Joey Baron as the band's new drummer, for Bro first encountered Morgan when the bassist was playing in Baron's band a decade ago On Streams Joey Baron dives into the music's detail with obvious pleasure.
This recording features five new Bro pieces: "Opal", "Full Moon Europa", "Shell Pink", "Sisimiut" and "Heroines" (heard in both a trio version and a particularly lovely solo version). Completing the album's repertoire is the freely improvised "PM Dream", dedicated to the late Paul Motian. Jakob's approach to melody acknowledges the influence of Motian, and both Bro and Morgan played in the late drummer's ensembles.

The Future In Whose Eyes?British Metal Forefathers SikTh Return With Their First Full-Length Album In 11 Years
SikTh pushed me in to the progressive genre. Death of a Dead Day is my jam - Spencer Sotelo (Periphery)
A keystone in the progressive metal genre, SikTh's legacy gave the inspiration for bands like Protest The Hero, Periphery, TesseracT and Animals As Leaders following their hiatus in 2007. Now in 2017 the intense and enigmatic frontman Mikee Goodman is joined by Alias' vocalist Joe Rosser for a unique double-vocal attack. The band also welcomed guest singer Spencer Sotelo from Periphery as SikTh's first ever guest performer on an album, cementing the relationship formed between the bands on their US tour in 2016.
Following their reformation at the UK's legendary Download Festival in 2014, SikTh have been teasing the metal scene with the release of mini-album Opacities in 2015, a support tour in the UK for Slipknot, their first ever US tour as the main support for Periphery, and a 6-week tour at the beginning of 2017 as the main support for Trivium in Europe and the UK. The band also released a deluxe edition of their most popular album Death of a Dead Day on its 10th anniversary through Peaceville in 2016.
Kicking off The Future In Whose Eyes? album campaign in February, the single No Wishbones became an instant favourite with streaming platforms; Spotify placed the track on their popular curated playlists New Metal Tracks, Top Tracks in Metal and Got Djent?; iTunes selected the single for their Hot Tracks in Metal promotions in both the UK and the US; and Deezer chose the track for their Metal New Releases playlist.
Mikee commented on the new album: Personally I feel this is our best album yet. The band has made incredible music, brutal, technically warped and also some psychedelic moments... we've done something special here. The SikTh frontman explained the artwork, created by Meats Meier, whose credits include the film Hellboy and TOOL: Meats Meier is an absolute genius, a visionary and a pioneer. We wanted something really special and we got it; the inspiration was the title itself, the constant evolution of humanity and the self-destructive nature of man."1. Vivid

UNIM-ECM-4738xChris Potter / David Virelles / Joe Martin / Marcus Gilmore
The Dreamer Is The DreamFor his third ECM album as a leader, Chris Potter presents a new acoustic quartet that naturally blends melodic rhapsody with rhythmic muscle. The group includes superlative musicians well known to followers of ECM's many recordings from New York over the past decade: keyboardist David Virelles, bassist Joe Martin and drummer Marcus Gilmore, who each shine in addition to the leader on multiple horns. The Dreamer Is the Dream features Potter on tenor saxophone - the instrument that has made him one of the most admired players of his generation - in the striking opener Heart in Hand and such album highlights as Yasodhara, as well as on soprano sax (Memory and Desire) and bass clarinet (the title track).
Potter is an artist who employs his considerable technique in service of music rather than spectacle, says The New Yorker, and his composing develops in texture and atmosphere with every album. Along with his previous ECM releases, Imaginary Cities and The Sirens, he has appeared on some of the label's most acclaimed discs, including Paul Motian's classic Lost in a Dream and Dave Holland's Grammy Award-winning What Goes Around.

After the release of Trip Shakepeare's debut-Applehead Man-band leader Matt Wilson's brother, Grammy® winning songwriter Dan Wilson joined the fold as a permanent member. The original trio became a quartet and self-released Are You Shakespearienced? in 1988.
Omnivore is pleased to continue following the legacy of Trip Shakespeare with a reissue of the band's 2nd album. Are You Shakespearienced? (co-produced by the band's John Munson) will be released in a digipak with liner notes from Jon Niccum (author of The Worst Gig), and previously unseen photos. The LP (first pressing on translucent sea-foam green vinyl, with black to follow) contains the original nine tracks, liners and photos.
Are You Shakespearienced? would find Trip Shakespeare not only being courted by the major labels, but eventually signing to A&M Records. Later, John Munson and Dan Wilson would go on to form Semisonic, but now is the time to get Shakespearienced!1. Diane

UNIM-ECM-5974xNik Bartsch's Ronin
Llyria'Llyria' is the third album from Nik BÄrtsch's Ronin and follows on from 'Stoa' and 'Holon', the ECM recordings that established the exciting young Swiss band on the international scene. Leader and pianist Nik BÄrtsch's modular pieces still define the context of the group's music but the committed input of the individual Ronin members has lifted the work to the next level, blurring the distinctions between composition, improvisation and interpretation.
The music has become more open, moving on from its early Zen funk and ritual groove music formulas. Reed player Sha shines brightly here, and lyrical melodic themes make themselves felt. But this is, Nik BÄrtsch suggests, more than its predecessors a drummer's record. Its beats are lovingly crafted by Kaspar Rast and percussionist Andi Pupato.LP1

Pisces IscariotPart of an extensive campaign honoring the legacy of the iconic alternative band, the Smashing Pumpkins' 1994 album Pisces Iscariot returns in a vinyl configuration remastered from the original master tapes specifically for the format.
The Smashing Pumpkins have created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in musical history, selling more than 30 million albums. The pivotal group's many hits defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate on modern rock radio, influencing a whole new generation.
The Smashing Pumpkins are a big rock band, molded by leader Billy Corgan after stadium and progressive rock giants from the 1970s. As such it's only fitting that after only two albums they would release a collection of B-sides. The result, Pisces Iscariot, is not only a good compendium to their other work, but it's a very good record in its own right. Most of the 14 tracks follow the Pumpkins' blueprint, traveling sonically from soft to loud and back again. Among the slew of originals previously available on singles and imports is a hauntingly beautiful cover of Fleetwood Mac's Landslide.1. Soothe
