This album is instantly recognizable as a Foo Fighters record, but there's something deeper and more musical to it. I think that these cities and these people influenced us to stretch out and explore new territory, without losing our 'sound'.-Dave Grohl

FOO FIGHTERS have confirmed the worldwide release date of the band's long awaited follow up the 4X-Grammy-winning, international #1 Wasting Light: The band's eighth studio album of all-new material will be titled Sonic Highways.

Produced by Butch Vig and Foo Fighters and being released in the U.S. on Roswell Records/RCA Records, Sonic Highways clocks in at just over 44 minutes and is made up of the following tracks:

Though not a soundtrack album by any stretch, Sonic Highways shares its title with the Dave Grohl-directed eight-episode HBO series described by Grohl as a love letter to the history of American music and premiering Friday, October 17 at 11 p.m.. For the album and series, Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear wrote and recorded one song in each of these eight cities, delving into the local musical currents: how each region shaped these musicians in their formative years, and in turn the impact those people had on the cultural fabric of their hometowns. All songs feature local legends sitting in, with every lyric written in an unprecedented experimental style: Dave held off on putting down words until the last day of each session, so as to be inspired by the experiences, interviews for the HBO series, and other local personalities who became part of the process.

    Wasting Light

Foo Fighters anxiously anticipated seventh album, Wasting Light, produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder, was recorded entirely on analog tape in the garage of Dave Grohls home in Californias San Fernando Valley. The new record marks the Foo Fighters first full length effort with legendary producer Butch Vig, who previously produced new tracks Wheels and Word Forward on 2009s Greatest Hits and with whom Dave Grohl (of course) first worked on Nirvanas classic Nevermind.

Nirvana co-founder Krist Novoselic also makes a cameo, contributing bass and accordion to I Should Have Known, while former Nirvana touring guitarist and longtime extended FF family member Pat Smear now joins the permanent FF core of Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel and Chris Shiflett.

The album received its first public airing at a surprise gig Friday, January 28th at the minuscule Velvet Jones club in Santa Barbara, where the band ripped through the entire record from start to finish, and followed up with a crushing live collection of greatest hits and rarely played deep cuts including Wattershed from the bands self-titled 1995 debut.

2x Vinyl With Etching On D-Side (No Music)

I wanted it to be the biggest sounding Foo Fighters record ever. To make a gigantic rock record but with Greg Kurstin's sense of melody and arrangement Motorhead's version of Sgt. Pepper or something like that. So speaks Dave Grohl of the mission statement made manifest in Foo Fighters' ninth epic, the aptly-titled Concrete and Gold, due out worldwide on Roswell Records / RCA Records. Concrete and Gold was written and performed by Foo Fighters, produced by Greg Kurstin and Foo Fighters, and mixed by Darrell Thorp.

    Foo Fighters

The album that became the Foo Fighters eponymous 1995 debut was originally just a bunch of songs that Dave Grohl had stored up over the years and finally recorded on his own. He had already lived the rock star life, and his only goal with the new material was to amuse himself and his friends. But as the tape changed hands and was copied over and over again, it quickly became clear that people were connecting to the music and that this was a project worth pursuing.

The Foo Fighters debut was on the charts for nearly a full year after its original release, selling over 2 million copies on the strength of the hit singles This Is A Call, Big Me and I'll Stick Around. Foo Fighters is the album that started it all, and made clear that Dave Grohl was about to change the rock landscape all over again.

There Is Nothing Left To Lose

Co-produced with Adam Kasper, the Foo Fighters third album There Is Nothing Left To Lose (1999) is as driven and blatant as the title suggests: powerful, compelling, deliberate, precise and engaging, all at once. Rather than rehash their previously successful songs (Big Me, This Is A Call, Monkey Wrench, Everlong, My Hero), on There Is Nothing Left To Lose, the Foo Fighters delivered a distinct mix of straight ahead rockers (Stacked Actors, Breakout, Generator), mid-tempo, thought-provoking, pop classics (Learn To Fly, Live-In Skin) and stunningly beautiful ballads (Aurora, Ain't It The Life, M.I.A. and Next Year) which combine for a dynamic, forceful mix from what has become one of rock 'n' roll's biggest bands.

With 15 years, 6 platinum-plus albums and as many Grammys under their collective belt, the Foo Fighters now mark off yet another milestone in their ascension to quintessential American rock royalty, an eagerly awaited Greatest Hits package. Foo Fighters Greatest Hits will feature two brand new tracks; Wheels which made its live debut at President Obama and the USO's July 4 barbeque at the White House honoring military heroes, and Word Forward, both recorded especially for this collection at the band's own fabled 606 studio complex with producer Butch Vig. The new tracks not only hold their own alongside individual Grammy winners The Pretender, All My Life and Learn To Fly and perennial Foo favorites Best Of You, Times Like These, My Hero, Everlong and more, but they perfectly round out an overview of the Foo Fighters' illustrious output to date and hint at what's yet to come.

    In Your Honor

The Foo Fighters double album In Your Honor (2005) also marks their 10th Anniversary as a band. The first album of the 21-track, 2LP set more than lives up to Dave Grohl's mission statement of being the most ass-kicking thing we've ever done, yielding one flawless Foo Fighters barnstormer after another with the title track, Best Of You, DOA, Resolve and No Way Back. The contrasting second half showcases the sensitive side of the band that made sleeper hits out of the acoustic versions of Everlong and Times Like These with the dynamic cuts What If I Do, Miracle and Virginia Moon.

A few years ago, A-Trak got together with the pioneering house/garage producer Armand Van Helden to form the playful dance duo Duck Sauce, and they quickly scored a vast international hit with 'Barbra Streisand.' Now, nearly four years after that song landed, they're finally ready to release Quack, their giddy and engaging debut album, which features singles like 'Radio Stereo,' 'It's You,' and, yes, 'Barbra Streisand.' The album is not a typical dance album but a whole lot of fun: Quack pushes the boundaries of house music and sampling into an absurdly visual listening experience, interwoven with skits, scratching and irresistible loops.

    The Colour And Shape

Originally released in 1997, The Colour And The Shape is the second album from the Foo Fighters and follow-up to the band's multi-platinum self-titled debut. Few people at the time thought that drummer-turned-frontman Dave Grohl could possibly have a second great album in him. Nonetheless, The Colour And The Shape exceeded all artistic and commercial expectations and established the Foo Fighters as one of the most vital bands of our era. With hits like Everlong, Monkey Wrench and My Hero, the Foo Fighters became a cornerstone of modern rock radio and a perennial MTV favorite.

    Skin And Bones

    First Time on Vinyl!

Highlighting the acoustic-flavored songs from the second half of their platinum-plus 2005 double album, In Your Honor, the Foo Fighters 2006 live album Skin And Bones also features unique interpretations of favorites from the band's first five albums.

To showcase the lusher, sweeter side of their substantial catalog and give In You Honor's many acoustic songs their first-ever live runs, the Foo Fighters spent the summer of 2006 playing a series of intimate theater shows.

Skin And Bones was recorded at Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, CA. Joining the core Foo Fighters here are guest players Petra Haden (violin), Rami Jaffee (keyboards), Drew Hester (percussion) and former member Pat Smear (guitar).

As the bassist for Foo Fighters and Sunny Day Real Estate, Nate Mendel has been a part of two of the best, most notable rock bands of his generation. Now he's fronting a band of his own. Sid Vicious may have become the Punk icon, at least Glen Matlock - original bass player for the Sex Pistols could really play, wrote ten out of the twelve songs on the classic Never Mind The Bollocks and he's still alive.

Over the years he has continued to tour and now he is presenting us his new solo album, Born Running. This isn't a Sex Pistols rip-off but a collection of rolling Rockers with a poignant smile similar to Joey Ramone's solo work. Produced by Jim Lowe (of Stereophonics, Foo Fighters, and Manic Street Preachers), whatever Matlock might lack in originality he more than makes up for sincerity.

Recorded at The Killers Battle Born studios in Las Vegas with producer Joe Chicharelli (The Strokes, My Morning Jacket), and mixed in London by star mixer Alan Moulder (U2, The Killers, Foo Fighters), Big Talk sees the Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci step out from behind the kit. As a member of one of the biggest bands of the past ten years, Vannucci has collaborated on many Killers songs, so it will come as no surprise to find that Vannucci has a way with a genius hook of his own. But Vannucci is more: a true multi-instrumentalist, superb vocalist, who has produced what is sure to be the rock soundtrack to the summer.

After releasing three albums with Greg Ginn's underground label SST, Screaming Trees broke through in 1991 with Uncle Anesthesia on major label Epic. The band, fronted by Mark Lanegan (who would go on to collaborate solo with band members of Nirvana, Queens Of The Stone Age, Guns 'N Roses and Foo Fighters) is known for its raw psychedelic, whiskey voiced garage rock. This harder edge set the band apart from Seattle grunge contemporaries Alice In Chains and Soundgarden, gaining a loyal fanbase in the process. Uncle Anesthesia is produced by Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave) and metal producer Terry Date, known for his recordings of Pantera, Prong, Overkill and White Zombie.
