For LP Fans Only (Speakers Corner)

Along with the album A Date With Elvis (RCA LPM-2011), For LP Fans Only is one of the most important special productions of the young King of Rock'n'Roll. Because Elvis had been conscripted into the US army, no new recordings could take place, and so record producers delved deep into the sound archives and dug out a few singles from his Sun Records days, mixed them with a couple of early RCA songs and a number from the Love Me Tender soundtrack, and, hey presto! a new Elvis LP was born. The overwhelming success of this album is not solely confined to the stylistic homogeneity of this collection of fresh, youthful songs. Far more, it's because for many fans the record offered the only substitution for the highly coveted but rare original singles That's All Right, Mystery Train and My Baby Left Me.

Not without reason has today's 'bits-and-bytes' generation ignored the words on the cover and produced several re-releases. Which just goes to emphasise the widespread opinion that this is one of Elvis's very best albums and at the same time one of the most important in the whole of rock'n'roll - especially in the present vinyl pressing.

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

The King Of Rock & Roll's Debut 1956 Album

First Time 180 Gram Audiophile Beautiful Translucent Blue Vinyl & First Time Gatefold Cover Presentation

Impeccably Mastered By Joe Reagoso & Pressed At R.T.I.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born during the Great Depression into a poor family in Mississippi. They moved to Memphis during the early fifties, and as a struggling young truck driver, Elvis cut some demos as a gift for his beloved mother Gladys. These initial songs, of which he had only paid a few dollars to record, would become the catalyst that would kick-start the beginnings of a soon to be worldwide superstar unlike the world has ever known.

The folks at RCA Victor knew that this young fellow named Elvis was destined for super stardom. They quickly signed the legend to a long-term deal in 1956, and his first RCA Lp simply titled Elvis Presley forever etched The King Of Rock And Roll trademark to his name. He would eventually become the most successful solo artist of all time!

Easily the first top selling rock and pop albums of the fifties, Elvis Presley was a treasure trove of his first RCA sessions and Sun session and included such great tracks as his signature Blue Suede Shoes, the rock-a-billy smash Just Because & the stellar balladry of Blue Moon.

More great Elvis tunes abound as he pays tribute to The Drifters with a rockin' version of Money Honey and the Ray Charles' classic I Got A Woman.

Featuring 12 of his most familiar tunes the debut Elvis Presley album went on to become one of his most memorable titles in his huge arsenal of masterful rock and roll albums, as well as one of the most copied album covers of all time.

Thanks to his finest rock smashes like Tryin' To Get To You and the piano rocker One Sided Love Affair, this debut masterpiece was just what the fans were screaming for, as the entire album was built around the framework of his new and exciting rock trademark sound.

Released 45 years ago, 1970's Only for the Lonely marked the R&B star's second solo effort. Procol Harum's Legendary Guitarist Celebrating His Legendary 3rd Solo Smash!

First Time 180 Gram Audiophile Release!

Mastered From The Original Chrysalis Records Tapes By Joe Reagoso

Whenever Robin Trower releases an album, it's always a musical event.
As the third in a perfect hat trick of multifaceted career defining albums, the
legendary British guitarist (co-founder of Procol Harum) unleashed one of the
most popular albums in his ever enduring catalog in 1975, For Earth Below.

This masterwork unites the guitar hero again with his powerful team
of world class musicians, the late great James Dewar on simmering lead
vocals & bass, and the powerful drum work of Bill Lordan. The brilliant guitar
shredder and his amazing band truly throw down some of his classiest and
hardest driving, best known repertoire for this Robin Trower and Procol
Harum band mate production by Matthew Fisher.

arum band mate production by Matthew Fisher.
The album begins with his hard rocker Shame The Devil. The tune finds
Robin Trower blazing on some very solid power riffs making this the ultimate
    opening track for the listener.

The soulful hypnotic blues of It's Only Money has the tremendous voicing
of Robin's guitar with Bill Lordan's fine percussive elements and James'
signature vocal work throughout, truly making this one of the finest songs in
Trower's four decade career as a solo artist.

Always an astute bluesman, Robin Trower's Confessin' Midnight retains
a solid groove which allows the progressive guitarist to power away with
some very intricate fret work, making this album the classic that it is.

Hard rock fusion continues with more classics like his powerful funk
infused Alethea, the hard rock champion, Gonna Be More Suspicious, and
the ultimate Trower title smash For Earth Below, truly rewarding his fans with
another masterpiece album in his gold and platinum career!

It is with much honor to announce the first time limited Anniversary Edition
180 Gram Audiophile release of Robin Trower's classic, For Earth Below.
As a continuation of our highly regarded Robin Trower/Friday Music 180

    The Only Truth

Veiled in mystery, enshrined in the psychedelic hall of fame and shielded behind a towering wall of collectors greenbacks, the reputation of Morly Greys 1972 masterwork The Only Truth is beyond dispute. But, accessibility to this Shroud of Hard-Psych Turin has been another matter, impeded by the near- impossibility of obtaining an original pressing and the absolute plethora of shoddy bootlegs.

Quoth the Grey Raven, nevermore. Sundazed has unearthed the original masters, rare single sides, unreleased tracks, and rare graphics, added a detailed history and wrapped them all up in the awesome original artwork for the definitive reissue of The Only Truth. With the veil lifted, fans of fine psychedelia can revel in the majesty of these Alliance, Ohio iconoclasts as they pulverize police corruption on the rocking Peace Officer, run through the gently loping psychedelic groove and stellar riff of You Came to Me, lay it down hard yet easy on Our Time and After Me Again, and find enlightenment with the trippy title track. Everything youve heard about The Only Truth is (pardon the expression) true!

    M:FANS

Over 50 years in the business of Contemporary Music and John Cale remains as active and
unpredictable as ever; is there a more restless and ruminating spark of an artist, who, at the age of
73, admits he still goes to the studio every day and writes? From classical roots as a precociously
gifted Welsh boy to modern-classical experiments in New York, that lead to co-founding The Velvet
Underground, Cale has filtered that mindset through singer-songwriter, proto-punk and post-punk
prisms. His endless fascination has kept us endlessly fascinated, as Cale has consistently created
new fissions, including the digital advances of the day, absorbed by hip hop as much as conventional
    songwriting.

Which is where we find Cale at this precise moment, with not just the re-mastered version of one of his
most unique and lauded solo records, the 1982 masterpiece Music For A New Society, but a complete
new reworking of the album under the title M:FANS, a record that explores the relationship between
old and new, in terms of the sound and vision, and Cale's memories of the experience, in terms of his
life, and the recording. M: FANS ends with "Back To The End", a previously unfinished outtake that Cale
rediscovered among the original tapes, whose haunting spectral mood matches anything on the 1982
record. (This version retains Cale's original vocal and piano while adding viola). Back and forth M:FANS
goes, sampling the original, while creating brand new soundscapes, giving Cale the opportunity for
closure on one of the most testing eras of his life, and a way to keep moving forward.

Music For A New Society had a fraught birth, to say the least. With Cale having folded his Spy label
imprint into Michael Zilkha's Ze Records, and retired his band for a run of solo concerts, Zilkha proposed
an album to capture this new phase. Rising to the challenge - "a very good one" - Cale created a brief
for the exercise; to only allow himself the ten days booked in the studio to complete the record, and to
only set the tape rolling when he was ready to improvise. Cale once recalled the recording process as,
"like method acting. Madness. Excruciating. I just let myself go. It became a kind of therapy, a personal
exorcism." But that fed into the album's extreme qualities; its nerve-shredding raw intimacy, its fractured,
    anguished beauty.

"Close Watch" is one of the most radical of M: FANS tracks - it's now a spectral trance-duet that features
Amber Coffman of the Dirty Projectors, a band Cale has long admired. The most straightforward ballad
on the original, "Chinese Envoy" is even more radical, "which is so refreshing, I'd done it so many times
as a ballad. It's a happier song the way it is now, but it doesn't offend the sensibility of the song." I think
the tracks have benefited from being given more attention this time. I was really rushing through things
    the first time.

In 1982, Music For A New Society sounded exactly like its title: something futuristic, a new kind of
songwriting exercise. In 2015, M:FANS is exactly that too, full of electrical crackle and disturbed
frequencies, a different kind of dystopian future awaits. John Cale forages on; it's the only way he knows
    how.

Taking One for the Team, Simple Plan's fifth full-length and most ambitious album so far, offering hard-hitting punk-fueled tracks alongside songs that delve into everything from reggae to delicate acoustic balladry. Longtime fans can rest assured that Taking One for the Team is packed with plenty of quintessential Simple Plan tracks, including Boom, whose companion music video features cameos by members of All-Time Low, Pierce The Veil, PVRIS, MxPx, and many more Warped Tour all-stars. The album starts out full-throttle with the brutal guitar and furious drumming of Opinion Overload. It's a song about following your heart and dreams no matter what people say or think, explains Bouvier.

We're adults in our mid-thirties now, and we still have to deal with that. Sometimes you gotta remind yourself that it doesn't mean anything, that it's ok to stand up for yourself and be who you are and that's what's gonna set you apart. That same defiant spirit is present on I Refuse, where Simple Plan mine inspiration from punk/hardcore acts like Rise Against and Good Riddance, ultimately delivering the only punk anthem in recent memory to feature an elegant piano interlude. We grew up on that kind of music; it's in our DNA- we'll always need that energy and those super-fast, in-your-face songs that people love about this band, says bass player David Desrosiers of tracks like I Refuse or Nostalgic. I can already imagine us playing those songs live and seeing the crowd go crazy, singing along to every word.

Tears of sorrow mingled with tears of joy as Oscar Peterson fans realized that the keyboard genius who had just recovered his health was still capable of amazing them all, although he had obviously forfeited some of his past vitality. This may well have induced MPS - the label with whom Oscar Petersen himself claimed to have made his best recordings - to search their archives for lost tapes from Peterson's heydey. And lo and behold, a number of previously unreleased recordings were discovered which had been taped "exclusively for my friends" in the private studio in Villingen in 1965-1968.
The electric atmosphere of these live sessions before a mere handful of listeners proves once again just how at home the musicians felt in the Black Forest villa - as is borne out by the fact that Peterson's usual trio formation alternated with his stand-in musicians of Sam Jones on the bass and Bobby Durham on the drums.

And now, exclusively for all jazz fans, these amazing tracks are available for the very first time on an LP filled with glorious sound. Whether long-time collector or jazz newcomer, one thing is certain: this album belongs in every collection!

    Musicians:

    • Oscar Peterson (piano)

    • Ray Brown, Sam Jones (bass)

    • Ed Thigpen, Bobby Durham (drums)

    Recording: May 1965, November 1967 and October 1968 at H.G. Brunner-Schwer's private studio's in Villingen/ Germany by H.-G. Brunner-Schwer

    Production: H.-G. Brunner-Schwer

    Live In 1967 Volume 2

In 1967, before there was a Fleetwood Mac, Peter Green, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood were John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. The four musicians were only together for three months, which makes it even more remarkable that a staunch fan from Holland was able to sneak a one channel reel to reel tape recorder into five London clubs and capture this exciting glimpse into music history. For almost fifty years these tapes have remained unheard until John recently got them and began restoring them with the technical assistance of Eric Corne of Forty Below Records. Corne adds "While the source recording was very rough and the final result is certainly not hi-fidelity, it does succeed in allowing us to hear how spectacular these performances are.

A great Bop album full of firsts and rarities: Thelonious Monk's only Riverside appearance as a sideman; the first of trumpeter Terry's many recordings on flugelhorn; the first of a great many Riverside dates for the great bassist Sam Jones; and the only occasion on which Monk and drummer Philly Joe Jones recorded together. Lunch. Drunk. Love.

In today's disposable music industry, a twenty year career is something almost unheard of. It takes a band with a big heart, a loyalty to one of the most varied group of fans ever and just a sheer love of making people smile to do it properly. It takes a band from Texas...that band is Bowling For Soup.

Produced by Jarinus (Linus of Hollywood and Jaret Reddick), Lunch. Drunk. Love. is a completely fan funded album through PledgeMusic. The band were able to include their fans on the entire process from demos to recording and even allowed the fans to name the album through an online poll!
With heartfelt breakup songs like 'Since We Broke Up' and 'Envy,' upbeat pop-culture / name dropping songs that ONLY BFS can pull off such as 'Normal Chicks,' and a surprising cover of the Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians song 'Circle,' this could actually prove to be Bowling For Soup s most well rounded album to date...And it's number freakin 14 for these dudes!

    Shaft

Of the many wonderful blaxpoitation soundtracks to emerge during the early '70s, Shaft certainly deserves mention as not only one of the most lasting but
also one of the most successful. Isaac Hayes was undoubtedly one of the era's most accomplished soul artists, and with Theme from Shaft, he delivered
an anthem just as ambitious and revered as the film itself, a song that has only grown more treasured over the years, after having been an enormously
popular hit at the time of its release. Shaft still remains a powerful record; one of Hayes' pinnacle moments for sure.

    Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get

The Dramatics had been around in one form or another for nine years before the members got to release their first LP, and the result was a pair of breakthrough hits over the spring and summer of 1971, beginning with the title track, a Top Ten single that boasted not only extraordinary singing from bass to falsetto, but a soaring, punchy horn arrangement and some of the best fuzztone guitar heard on a hit record since the Rolling Stones' Satisfaction. The Afro-Cuban-flavored Get up and Get Down followed it into the R&B Top 20, and the Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get album followed them both. It was the third hit off of the album, In the Rain, a delicate ballad that was issued separately as a single in early 1972, topping the R&B charts and reaching number five on the pop charts, that solidified the group's reputation and elevated them to the front rank of '70s soul acts. The album showcased the group equally well doing up-tempo dance numbers (Mary Don't Cha Wanna) and ballads (Thank You for Your Love, Fall in Love, Lady Love), melding very attractive vocals to arrangements that instantly grabbed the listener, all of it pulled together by songwriter/producer Tony Hester. Even the lesser material, such as Gimme Some (Good Soul Music) -- on which Hester knew that one minute and 34 seconds was all that was needed to make its point -- were so attractive and rousing that they easily carried their portion of the album, whose short running time was its only flaw. All of the members, from Willie Ford's powerful bass to Ron Banks' airy falsetto, were presented to best advantage, but none more so than William Wee Gee Howard's lead vocals; ironically, this would be Howard's only completed album with the group, and their only album for two years to come because of the accompanying personnel problems. Still, it's a match for any soul album of its era.

The Country Blues Of John Lee Hooker

John Lee Hooker is the most down-home of the major post-war blues figures, "a most authentic singer of the way-back, close-to-the-soil kind of blues," as
Orrin Keepnews once wrote. Of his innumerable recordings, The Country Blues of John Lee Hooker is perhaps the truest to Hooker's Mississippi roots.
The celebrated guitarist set his usual amplified instrument aside, in exchange for an acoustic guitar, only accompanied by his voice. The result is an
intimate, wonderfully varied set of deep Delta blues, moans and boogies. Some songs are autobiographical, others re-workings of blues standards-all
stamped with the hauntingly personal John Lee Hooker touch.

    Black Moses

This double LP, released on Stax Records' Enterprise label in 1971, was the follow-up to Hayes' successful soundtrack for Shaft. Black Moses features
Hayes' version of The Jackson 5's hit single Never Can Say Goodbye which became a hit in its own right, peaking at number 22 on the Billboard Hot
    100. The sheer front-to-back strength of this double-LP set has made Black Moses one of Isaac Hayes' most enduringly revered and best-known works. A
watershed album for the multi-instrumental singer/songwriter and producer, it only served to further cement his reputation as a progressive soul artist
capable of unmistakably original arrangements and genre-defining R&B mastery. This new vinyl reissue is a must-have for all serious soul and R&B fans.

One of the many stellar sessions from the Dave Brubeck Quartet, famed jazz scribe Nat Hentoff wrote in DownBeat Magazine of Jazz At The College Of
The Pacific that it ranks with the Oberlin and Storyville sets as the best of Brubeck on record." Featuring a lineup of drummer Joe Dodge, bassist Ron
Crotty, and longtime Brubeck collaborator, altoist Paul Desmond, this set delivers the goods in a way that only a Brubeck combo can. Providing timeless

    The Hawk Relaxes

Like a fine wine, Coleman Hawkins proves on The Hawk Relaxes that good things only get better with age. Joined by six-string maestro Kenny Burrell, the
legendary tenor saxophonist grooves in a mellow mood in this quintet setting alongside pianist Ronnell Bright, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Andrew
Cyrille. A high water mark in his later career, The Hawk Relaxes showcases the understated sophistication of Hawkins' playing as he makes instant
classics out of tunes from the Great American Songbook in a style befitting of an evening by the fire, the calm ocean, or a late night with a sweetheart
over candles and wine. This quintet, quite possibly the most unique Hawkins ever fronted, delivers a supple, relaxed, and sophisticated affair on par with
anything he ever did during this period. Recorded by the inimitable Rudy Van Gelder, this classic jazz album has now been newly reissued on VINYL and

Ghetto: Misfortune's Wealth is the the 1973 Stax debut and the only album released by The 24-Carat Black until a lost album, Gone: The Promises Of Yesterday, was finally released 35 years later. Ghetto: Misfortune's Wealth is an underground soul classic, a cohesive 8 song concept album about the hardship of black urban life, produced and arranged by classically trained Detroit song writer Dale Warren, who was an orchestrator and arranger on the Isaac Hayes' albums Hot Buttered Soul, The Isaac Hayes Movement and ...To Be Continued among others.

This album has been a hit among many samplers for decades including being used on these songs: Jay-Z - Can I Live Pt 2, Dr. Dre - Nas Is Coming, Eric B - In The Ghetto, Digable Planets - Cool Like Dat and Naughty by Nature - Poverty's Paradise.

    Green River

If anything, CCR's third album Green River represents the full flower of their classic sound initially essayed on its predecessor, Bayou Country. One of the differences between the two albums is that Green River is tighter, with none of the five-minute-plus jams that filled out both their debut and Bayou Country, but the true key to its success is a peak in John Fogerty's creativity. Although CCR had at least one cover on each album, they relied on Fogerty to crank out new material every month. He was writing so frequently that the craft became second-nature and he laid his emotions and fears bare, perhaps unintentionally. Perhaps that's why Green River has fear, anger, dread, and weariness creeping on the edges of gleeful music. This was a band that played rock & roll so joyously that they masked the, well, sinister undercurrents in Fogerty's songs. Bad Moon Rising has the famous line Hope you've got your things together/Hope you're quite prepared to die, but that was only the most obvious indication of Fogerty's gloom. Consider all the other dark touches: the Sinister purpose knocking at your door; the chaos of Commotion; the threat of death in Tombstone Shadow; you only return to the idyllic Green River once you get lost and realize the world is smolderin'. Even the ballads have a strong melancholy undercurrent, highlighted by Lodi, where Fogerty imagines himself stuck playing in dead-end towns for the rest of his life. Not the typical thoughts of a newly famous rock & roller, but certainly an indication of Fogerty's inner tumult. For all its darkness, Green River is ultimately welcoming music, since the band rocks hard and bright and the melancholy feels comforting, not alienating.
