Beautiful RewindIn 2012, the great kinda-dance producer Kieran Hebden, who records as Four Tet, released the sorely underrated singles collection Pink, which showed how close to straight-up dance music his productions could get without losing their exploratory spirit. But Hebden hasn't released a full-on album of new material since 2010s There Is Love In You.
That will thankfully change soon, as Hebden recently announced the impending release of the new LP Beautiful Rewind - and considering that he's never dropped a less-than-very-good LP, this is welcome news indeed.

PauseFour Tets now classic albums of the electronic genre, Pause (2001) and Rounds (2003), are available again on gorgeously rich vinyl.
Originally created as a side-project from his group Fridge, Kieran Hebden's solo work as Four Tet has explored cutting edge electronica using source material from jazz, folk and field recordings. His 2001 effort, Pause, explicitly borrows from the rich sonic firmament of '70s acoustic-based, instrumental music.
Applying a dizzying array sample-driven manipulations and other DSP processes, Hebden utilizes his computer, not so much as an editing tool, but an improvisational instrument in its own right, summoning improbable electro-acoustic textures that appear to live and breathe in the same auditory space.1. Exchange Sessions Vol.1Kieran you probably know from his more popular moniker of Four Tet or from his time with the seminal post-rock instrumentalists Fridge. Reid was the drummer on Martha & The Vandellas' Dancing In The Streets. Along with his Motown sessions, he's recorded and performed with James Brown, Miles Davis, and Fela Kuti, and he had a lengthy tenure in the Sun Ra Arkestra, along with putting out his own solo records. This meeting of rhythmic minds between Hebden and Reid is a free jazz odyssey sure to melt minds as much as knock down barriers. It's quite a compelling listen with melodic music textures and steady rhythms. The whole affair breathes and swings, daddy-o. Look for Volume II in the spring.1. Morning Prayer

Fading LoveFading Love establishes an exciting new chapter for acclaimed British producer and DJ George FitzGerald, marking an expansion out from his blistering mainroom sets across Europe and the UK, and into the realm of songwriter / producer peers such as Caribou, Jon Hopkins, and Four Tet.
The album diverges from previously released club singles such as "I Can Tell (By The Way You
Move)" and "Magnetic" (both out on Double Six, 2013), submerging the listener into lush,
electronic pop songs. Its heartstring-tugging melodies generate physical, real emotion and
are perfectly suited for both headphones and the dance floor.

RingerThe Ringer mini album is a 32 minute, four-track excursion into the kind of wide-open spaces you might find if you set out to make techno with an afrobeat/ krautrock sensibility. Ringer locks together gloriously rich synthesizer arpeggios; ôWing Body Wingö slips from crisp clusters of disco percussion to Steve Reich polyrhythms; and in between are another two euphoric ripples of sound, ôRibbonsö and ôSwimmer.ö The techno heartbeat comes from Kieran HebdenÆs regular DJ residences over the last couple of years as well as his ongoing collaborations with legendary jazz drummer Steve Reid. Whether in the studio or live, Kieran and Steve often click into the kind of deep 4/4 grooves that can depart in any direction with a little adjustment. Ringer carries that minimal pulse over into Four Tet, and while KieranÆs trademark recuttings of jazz breaks may be less in evidence, his feel for harmony and melody is, as always, unmistakable.1. Body PillIt's amazing how much can happen in a short time frame. At the
beginning of 2012, Anthony Naples didn't have a song to his name; by
the end of that year, he'd been heralded as one of the city's rising
producer talents. The genesis was "Mad Disrespect" - a single that
dominated Brooklyn's underground electronic music scene from even
before its offical release. The track was a milestone for all involved. Not
only was it Naples' first single, but it also was the first track he'd
recorded, period. On a whim, he sent the track to Eamon Harkin and
Justin Carter, the founders of New York's respected Mister Saturday
Night series. A regular at their parties but an unknown to the duo,
Anthony caught the pair's attention with "Mad Disrespect," and ended
up as the cornerstone of label's inaugural release: the Mad Disrespect
Anthony's music caught the ear of a number of people that summer,
none more important than Kieran Hebden, aka Four Tet, who
commissioned Anthony to remix his single "128 Harps" - again,
Anthony's first remix at that point. From there on, things sped up. He
followed "Mad Disrespect" with a series of 12" released on a veritable
who's who of influential labels: Scotland's respected Rubadub label,
Four Tet's Text Records, Opal Tapes - all of which culminated in El
Portal, his EP for Will Bankhead's Trilogy Tapes imprint. Along the way,
he was invited to open for Four Tet at London's Fabric and invited to
play Berlin's prestigious Panorama Bar.\
And now, a little over two years later, comes Body Pill, Anthony Naples
debut full-length for Text Records. As Anthony tells it, the title comes
from a mangled English translation that caught his eye in a Japanese
vending machine. "When I ran the title past Kieran, and he said it just
sounded like a lost rave classic, but I thought in the end it makes
sense. The LP is a small dose of synthetic noises and rhythms."
Naples says. Stylistically, the album draws inspiration from the city that
gave Anthony his start: New York. "I wanted to make a streetwise
record that was also solid and simple, like a brick or those weird
fluorescent light tubes in the subway. They give off this weird hum that
you hear only when you're alone in the station between trains late at
night. I wanted to make a record that evoked that experience."
Body Pill is a surprising album for Anthony, his most understated and
mature release to date. Body Pill opens with a wall of ambient noise on
"Ris," only to be overtaken by a modest synth groove. Ambient noise
washes over and eventually overtakes tracks like "Way Stone" and
"Pale" later on in the record. But that's not to say there aren't echoes of
Naples' work for Mister Saturday Night lurking throughout the record.
"Abrazo" feels like the natural companion to Anthony's earlier singles,
with elegant strings mingling with a deconstructed house-inspired beat.
"Used to Be" is arguably Anthony's largest beat to date whose rolling
hi-hats counterbalance the track's stabbing synths. The album's closer
"Miles" abruptly morphs from a lo-fi house anthem into a surprisingly
minimal synth soundscape, a microcosm of the record as a whole.1. Ris

Wenu Wenu Produced By Kieran Hebden (Four Tet)
Omar Souleyman - the Syrian artist who not only changed the vibe of weddings throughout the Middle
East with his Shaabi street sound but also brought it to the West through his notorious late night festival
slots - has finally recorded an album. After three compilations and a live release, Wenu Wenu is his first
album to be recorded in a studio.
Produced by Kieran Hebden (Four Tet), Wenu Wenu combines aspects of Middle Eastern dabke dance
music and traditional songs with his own contemporary style. Often described as "Syrian techno",
Souleyman records and performs live with long-time collaborator Rizan Sa'id.
Citing Hebden and Bjork as fans, Souleyman's audience has expanded, no longer just appealing to
those interested in Middle Eastern music and tradition. His festival performances including at this year's
Primavera Sound in Spain has seen appreciation for his well-crafted, hectic and - at times - intense music
grow and transcend not only language, but cultural barriers.
Recorded primarily live in the studio, Wenu Wenu distills Omar's enthralling live performances into laser
blasts of recorded techno scales ascending and descending around his iconic voice.1. Wenu Wenu

XXThe XX arrive with their debut album XX, a whole new sound of love, loss and longing. The XX are a London quartet, featuring the dual lead vocals of Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim (who also play lead guitar and bass guitar), Baria Qureshi (keyboards and guitar) and Jamie Smith (beats, MPC sampler). These four twenty year olds are childhood friends who formed while attending southwest London's Elliot School, an academy whose alumni also includes such acclaimed boundary-pushers as Burial, Four Tet and Hot Chip. Bonding over a shared love of dark, emotive '80s guitar sounds and the high-end sheen of American R&B, The XX's unique sound befits a band whose wide range of influences include everything from Aaliyaah to Cocorosie, Rihanna to The Cure, Missy Elliot to The Chromatics and Mariah Carey to The Pixies.
In an effort not to draw too much distance from the DIY aesthetic of their early demos, which were recorded in their bedrooms, they recorded their debut album XX under no one's watch, other than engineer Rodaidh McDonald, at XL Recordings' west London in-house studio. The result is a wash of sexy, coy, and sparse rhythms and melodies the likes of Robert Smith, Massive Attack and The Streets.

InsidesJon Hopkins is a musical shape shifter: a composer, pianist and a self-taught studio wizard. He makes big, bold electronic music using walls of synths, twinkling melodies and amorphous bass rumbles. As such his two albums have seen him labeled by the likes of ambient patriarch Brian Eno as an electronic innovator while an impressive sweep of artists from Herbie Hancock to David Holmes, not to mention contemporary choreographer Wayne McGregor, lo-fi folkster King Creosote and musical blue bloods Coldplay, have all called upon the 28-year-old Londoner's handiwork as a producer and composer.
On Insides, his Domino debut, Hopkins showcases an intriguing musical aesthetic to brilliant effect. Insides is about juxtaposition: natural, arcane textures welded to pulsing, hypnotic rhythms, beautiful acoustic melodies set against jarring bass. The music is reminiscent of the beautiful melodies and harsh dirty beats of other British artists like Four Tet, Squarepusher, Burial and Aphex Twin. Above all, Insides is an audacious album which boasts a magical aura all of its own.
Hopkins' talents caught the ears of Brian Eno, who enlisted him to work on his Another Day on Earth album and most recently on Coldplay's Viva la Vida. In fact, Coldplay were so taken with Hopkins' music, the band asked him to rework the track Light Through the Veins (from Insides) to bookend their album. The pairing eventually led to an invitation to Hopkins to join the band on its 2008 USA, European and Japanese tour, both as an opening act and pre-show DJ.1. The Wider Son

WaterfallIt's safe to say since his emergence at the tail end of 2011 Evian Christ, aka Joshua Leary, has had a whirlwind two years. Off the back of his breakthrough mixtape "Kings And Them" which came out on Tri Angle Records in February 2012, the 24 year old, Ellesmere Port, UK native has produced on Kanye West's "Yeezus", collaborated with acclaimed conceptual artist Matthew Barney, released the notably abstract sound-piece Duga-3, performed around the world alongside the likes of Purity Ring, Actress and Four Tet and garnering positive reviews and features in global tastemaker press including Details Magazine, Dazed & Confused, Pitchfork and VIBE amongst many others.
Most notably, Evian Christ has signed a publishing deal with DONDA, run by Kanye West, where he will continue with his work as a producer.
His latest EP "Waterfall" finds Evian Christ exhibiting a creative restlessness that continues to make it harder to pigeonhole this young, evolving artist. On "Kings And Them" Evian Christ conjured up a sound that was influenced by hip hop as it much as it was by more ambient forms of music. On "Waterfall" Evian Christ has taken his unique sound into a far noisier and more aggressive territory.
The lead track from "Waterfall", the hip hop laced 'Salt Carousel' may open the record with the sort of dreamlike serenity that typified the vast majority of Kings, but it's really the quiet before the storm as harsher, more abrasive elements rush in and dominate. On 'Fuck Idol' huge walls of digital distortion clash with code red beats that grow more and more frantic as the track progresses, while the title track is a blast of metallic dancehall dread that mutates multiple times over the space of 4 minutes into something truly epic.
Having spent the past year experimenting and challenging himself, and in refusing to simply duplicate a sound that garnered him so much attention to begin with and led one of, if the not, the world's biggest hip hop artists to seek him out, "Waterfall" finds Evian Christ growing in confidence as a producer and continuing to elude any sort of easy categorization.
Recorded partially in his hometown of Ellesmere Port and partially in New York, "Waterfall" was mixed by Noah Rubin (Pusha T, Wu Tang Clan) and mastered by Heba Kedry (The Mars Volta, Liturgy, Fis). Track 2, 'Propeller', contains a sample of 'Nine' by close friend and affiliate producer, Lukid.1. Salt Carousel

Ultraista RemixesLIMITED EDITION OF 2,000 COPIES
Ultraísta Remixes compiles a year's worth of remixes from friends and collaborators within the ever-expanding Ultraísta orbit. Though some of these tracks have become social media sensations in their own right - collectively clocking more than two million plays on the band's Soundcloud and YouTube channels - Ultraísta Remixes has been perfectly sequenced to succeed as a stand-alone album (an alarmingly strong one, no less). Rarely do remix
albums have this level of quality control and seemingly infinite replay value.
Whereas Ultraísta's debut album commits to its palette with uncanny precision and devotion, Remixes explodes its individual parts and reveals the group to be equally compelling as techno powerhouse (Four Tet, FaltyDL, DC Sux), dark electro-pop (Zero 7, Zammuto, ERAAS, Canon Blue), experimental dance (Prefuse 73, Matthew Herbert), and even driving industrial rock (David Lynch in an inspired
NIN-meets-YYYs turn). The combination of all of these seemingly disparate parts makes for a surprisingly cohesive whole, and a remarkable companion to the original album.1. You're Out (Prefuse 73 Remix)

ParallelogramsWhat's all the fuss about? If you've read any of the hundreds of articles in music mags and on the net about Linda Perhacs' sole 1970 LP Parallelograms, you'd be tempted to question its reputation. People talk about Parallelograms in much the same way that they talk about Nick Drake's Island albums, Swaddling Songs by Mellow Candle and Vashti Bunyan's sole LP for Phillips... as a life-changing musical experience, one that inspires them to create new works of art and to express their deepest emotions despite the risk. Sure, there's a lot of hyperbole out there about this record, and yet it's absolutely warranted. For just about 40 minutes, it will take you on a guided tour of a world that's far too beautiful to exist... but does.
Part of the effect of the album is in the incredibly sensitive production by soundtrack composer Leonard Rosenman. He facilitates some very non-traditional ideas and gets extraordinarily skilled musicians to execute them. Rosenman's willingness to work in intense collaboration with a wide-eyed studio novice speaks volumes about his desire to help create something truly original. Sundazed used a pristinely preserved master tape of the album as its source and meticulously remastered to reveal a deep and subtle soundscape that practically reinvents the listening experience even if you've heard Parallelograms a thousand times before. Listen to Steve Cohn's guitar lines and how they dance so delicately in and around Linda's vocal lines on songs like Dolphin. When you get to the end of side one, it's time to don the headphones. Every ride in the sonic theme park that is the song Parallelograms is free, and there are no lines!
As much as it's about the psychedelic production and gorgeous arrangements, it's about words. Linda Perhacs uses words like no one else, teasing and toying with them, spinning them into bright, joyous confections with her voice on songs like Porcelain Baked-Over Cast-Iron Wedding. Her words at times sound like ancient sacred poetry, translated for the first time into English and whispered in your ear by a true love. Listening to Call of the River and Delicious is as close as you'll ever get to hearing the Sirens' song without getting strapped to a mast first!
People like Devendra Banhart, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo & Thomas Bangalter (Daft Punk) and Kieran Hebden (Four Tet) have expressed their love of these recordings, and they've taken direct inspiration from it for their current work. Parallelograms has also encouraged a close re-examination of the genre. Let's hope record collectors never stop searching for the kind of magic they hear in Parallelograms. For psychedelic folk, you can start at perfect and go from there.

Dust & Grooves: Adventures In Record Collecting (Book) (Out Of Stock)
416-Page Photography-And-Interview Coffee Table Book About The
World's Most Fascinating And Accomplished Vinyl Collectors
Created By Noted Photographer Eilon Paz
The Second Revised Edition Of The Book Profiles Over 130 Vinyl Collectors,
Featuring A Foreword By The RZA And Interviews With
Questlove, Gilles Peterson, Four-Tet, The Gaslamp Killer, And More.
This Edition Has 20 More Pages Than The First Edition
"Dust & Grooves began as a labor of love but has become a worldwide phenomenon. Paz has gained access to the personal troves of well-known collectors from all over the globe, showcasing each collector as well as his or her collections."- ABC News
Eilon Paz's 416-page coffee-table book illuminates over 130 vinyl connoisseurs and their collections in the most intimate of environments - their record rooms. With a foreword by the RZA, compelling photographic essays are paired with in-depth interviews to illustrate what motivates record collectors to keep digging.
Readers get an up close and personal look at a variety of well-known vinyl champions as well as a glimpse into the collections of world-renowned and lesser-known DJs, producers, record dealers, and everyday enthusiasts. The book is divided into two main parts: the first features 250 full-page photos framed by captions and select quotes, while the second consists of 12 full length interviews that delve deeper into collectors' personal histories and vinyl troves.
It all started out several years ago as nothing more than a way for photographer Paz to engage in a personal project in his free time. Adrift in Brooklyn after emigrating from Israel, Paz - a record collector on the side - thought it might be fun to start taking photos of people whose record collections were both larger and weirder than his own. These portraits turned into the Dust & Grooves website, which quickly developed a global following that grew every time a new portrait was added to the mix. People all over the world seemed to dig not only the beauty of Eilon's photos, but the interviews with the collectors-a motley, if generally charming, crew of non-violent obsessives who turned out to be at least as intriguing as the records they collected.
Unearthing the very soul of the vinyl community, his book will appeal to a broad spectrum of readers, from die-hard record enthusiasts to fans of pop culture, sharp photography, and music history.
Eilon Paz has shot for Israel's top cultural publications and is a regular contributor for the US based food/travel magazine, Saveur, and his work appeared in worldwide publications such as Wax Poetics, Monocle, Conde Nast Traveler, Delta Airlines' Sky magazine, and the French music magazine Vibrations.$66.00Book - Sealed Temporarily out of stock
