Songs From A RoomMeticulously Remastered
Sourced From The Original Columbia Records Stereo Masters In Order To Preserve The Sound Of The Original Albums
Cohen's sophomore effort Songs from a Room (recorded with producer Bob Johnston, renowned for his work with Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, the Byrds and Simon and Garfunkel) was a worthy follow-up, boasting such enduring compositions as "Bird on the Wire," "Story of Isaac" and "A Bunch of Lonesome Heroes."
By the time Leonard Cohen began his recording career in 1967, the iconoclastic Canadian troubadour was already well established as a poet and author. He quickly emerged as one of the era's most original and influential singer-songwriters, building a large and legendary body of work that continues to inspire artists and listeners alike.
Much of Cohen's reputation and mystique was established by his early work for Columbia Records, particularly the five albums he recorded between 1967 and 1974. Now, these five classic albums, unavailable on vinyl for two decades, have been lovingly restored to their original LP format.
For their new Sundazed editions, all five albums have been meticulously remastered and have been sourced from the original Columbia Records stereo masters in order to preserve the sound of the original albums. In keeping with the exacting standards for which Sundazed has become known, each album will be pressed on high-definition vinyl, with complete original cover art.1. Bird on the Wire

UNIM-DEU-0118xJarvis Cocker & Chilly Gonzales
Room 29Compelling new Deutsche Grammophon album Room 29, a unique collaboration between Jarvis Cocker and Chilly Gonzales, asks what the ghosts of Hollywood's golden age can tell us about how we came to be where we are today.
Standing at the west end of Hollywood's Sunset Boulevard, the Chateau Marmont hotel has seen many a famous and infamous guest pass through its doors since it opened in 1929. A 2012 stay in one of its second-floor rooms inspired British lyricist and singer Jarvis Cocker to look into its history and led to this collaborative project with multi-faceted Canadian pianist and composer Chilly Gonzales. Room 29, a 21st-century song cycle, is set for release on Deutsche Grammophon Gonzales' score and Cocker's lyrics conjure up the lives of some of Room 29's previous occupants, as well as shining a light on the glittering fantasy and often bleak reality of Hollywood.
"If you must get in trouble, do it at the Chateau Marmont," noted Harry Cohn, founder of Columbia Pictures, in 1939. Jarvis Cocker was intrigued by the hotel's links to the history of the film industry. He found the key to creativity in the fact that Room 29 contained a baby-grand piano. What if it could "sing" of the life stories and events it had witnessed? The idea also ignited Chilly Gonzales's imagination, and both artists embarked on a three-year journey of artistic discovery, unearthing details about guests such as Jean Harlow, Mark Twain's daughter Clara, and Los Angeles mobster Meyer Cohen, alias "Mickey the Haberdasher". As well as dramatizing some of those stories, their songs capture both the essential loneliness of the hotel room and the ways in which moving images have "moved" people in ways they don't quite understand. Gonzales and Cocker have drawn on the 19th-century model of the song cycle for a structure capable of containing the broad sweep of emotions and states of mind elicited by the real and imaginary dramas of one unusual hotel suite. Room 29 emerges as the metaphor for a place within each of us, home to our deepest desires and fantasies.
Since moving to Germany in the late 1990s, Chilly Gonzales has pursued a breathtaking range of musical projects, spanning everything from rap and experimental rock to hip hop and Satie-inspired minimalism. The classically trained pianist collaborated with the Kaiser Quartett on his last solo album, Chambers, attracting critical acclaim to its neo-Romantic reflections on chamber music in the age of pop. The Hamburg-based string quartet plays a prominent part in Room 29, providing a sonorous tonal complement to Gonzales' piano writing and accompanying Jarvis Cocker's vocals. Lead singer and primary lyricist of Pulp for over 30 years, on and off, Cocker has also released two solo albums, and developed a successful broadcasting career, presenting both Jarvis Cocker's Sunday Service on BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio 4's Wireless Nights.1. Way Down In The Jungle RoomRCA Records and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release Way Down In The Jungle Room, a definitive new 2-LP collection of Elvis Presley's last studio recordings.
Way Down In The Jungle Room is an essential and welcome addition for every fan's library. In the mid-1970s, Elvis, the King of Rock 'n' Roll, became another kind of pioneer as one of the world's first major recording artists to create fully-realized professional level records in the intimacy of his own home studio.
With original recordings executive-produced by Elvis Presley with producer Felton Jarvis (who'd helmed most of Elvis' records from 1966-1977), Way Down In The Jungle Room features rare outtakes laid down during two mythic sessions (February 2-8, 1976 and October 28-30, 1976) in Graceland's den -- known as the Jungle Room -- which was converted into a professional caliber recording studio for the purpose of capturing these indelible performances. The outtakes have been newly mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Matt Ross-Spang at Sam Phillips Recording in Memphis, Tennessee.
For these sessions, Elvis was backed by many members of his longtime touring band including: James Burton (guitar), Ronnie Tutt (drums), David Briggs (keyboards), Glenn D. Hardin (keyboards), Jerry Scheff (bass), Norbert Putnam (bass) and J.D. Sumner & the Stamps (vocals).
In 1976, when the tracks for Way Down In The Jungle Room were cut, Elvis Presley had been an RCA Records recording artist for 20 years, inventing the sound and attitude that defined the very essence of rock 'n' roll. That same year, RCA released The Sun Sessions, the label's first official collection of the electrifying 1954-1955 Elvis recordings that launched his career while transforming the world.
Having entered his 40s, Elvis Presley was evolving as an artist and, rather than bask in the nostalgia of his 1950s watershed recordings, was looking for new ways to express himself musically. Needing to create new sounds for a new era, Elvis Presley--who'd been charting on Country and Adult Contemporary stations -- decided to convert the Hawaiian-themed Jungle Room (a relaxation den in his fabled Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee) into an informal home studio, where he could lay down tracks the way he wanted, outside the budget and scheduling pressures of the professional studios he'd worked in previously. With the help of RCA's mobile recording truck and longtime producer Felton Jarvis and engineer Mike Moran at the board, Elvis tackled a far-ranging mix of country and pop covers (Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain, I'll Never Fall in Love Again, Danny Boy, Solitaire) and late-period classics of his catalog, such as Moody Blue and Way Down.
The Outtakes was mixed for this collection at the Sam Phillips Recording Service in Memphis and includes both outtakes and in-the-studio dialog, providing a fly-on-the-wall experience of what the sessions were like. With the exception of She Thinks I Still Care, the performances have been sequenced in the order they were recorded.

Best Of The Boiler Room ClassicsIt's been over three years since Oscillate Wisely, the debut album from Mike Adams At His
Honest Weight. A lot has happened to all of us since then, but it was a particularly action-packed time for ol' Mike. His newborn son requiring emergency heart surgeries immediately
after birth (doing ne now!), his former rock band of nearly 10 years calling it quits, and plenty
of other heavy things have helped shape the follow-up, Best of Boiler Room Classics, into one
of the most believably moving albums to come around in a long time.
But forget about all that stu for a minute because we need to talk about how great these
SONGS are! And these are real songs, daddy! Verses, choruses, hooks, bridges, you know,
well-written timeless songs that at least some of us will be listening to 50 years from now. The
same mixing/mastering team of Adam Jessup & Eric Day have returned and have really taken
their time to make this album sound like exactly one million bucks. The thoughtful, hard work
that went into this record has resulted in something truly special, like a Midwestern Tusk made
by fun, lovable people who actually get along really well.
Best of Boiler Room Classics has the subtle, earnest warmth of an album like the Clientele's
Strange Geometry but with the arena-ready grandeur of ELO's Out Of The Blue. While there is
an unforgettable instant catchiness to these songs, there is a depth, both lyrically and musically,
that makes repeated listens a delight.
While this is not a country album by any means, songs like "Count On It" and "Don't Want It,
Don't Get It" nd Mike's comforting words gripping your heart like an old Roger Miller ballad.
Speaking of "Count On It", just wait until those actual strings kick in at 2:27! It'll do something

From DarknessBrutal and aggressive, local band I Exist have belted out a hummer of a third album. Like being thumped repeatedly by a blunt stone, these men know how to impress themselves upon your ears.
A confident, at times understated, and well grooved effort, I Exist lock in and hammer out track after sludgy track. Recorded in Melbourne's Goat Sound Studios, the album was mixed by Phillip Cope and Jay Matheson (The Jam Room, South Carolina).

The album marks a major step forward for Fanfarlo and finds the band incorporating new textures into their already eclectic sonic palette, replacing acoustic guitars with electric and using synths and samplers instead of mandolins and glockenspiels. Songs From The Road
Brand New 2010 Release
"When legend Cohen takes to the stage, it's no less than a cultural event of Biblical dimensions." Following the celebration of his 40th year as a Columbia artist in 2007 and coinciding with his induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in March 2008, Cohen thrilled his fans by announcing his first tour dates in 15 years. One dozen of Leonard Cohen's most famous songs from those recent world tour performances - at auditorium halls, festivals, arenas, and stadiums - are now collected on Songs From The Road. Recorded in 5.1 surround sound Songs From The Road is not only a tribute to Cohen's consummate artistry as a concert performer, it is also a tribute to his enduring worldwide popularity at this time in his career. It is ultimately Cohen's ageless songs that draw faithful audiences - new fans and old - to his sold-out concerts.
Songs From The Road represents every decade of his life as a recording artist, from the 1960s ("Suzanne" from his 1967 debut, Songs Of Leonard Cohen; "Bird on the Wire" and his interpretation of "The Partisan" both from his second album, 1969's Songs From a Room) - to the '00s ("That Don't Make it Junk" from 2001's Ten New Songs). And even though it shares some songs with the 2009 Live In London release, the recordings on this album are unique. Throughout the tour, Cohen "seemed to find at every stop the sisters of mercy whom he immortalized in one of his oldest and most tender songs.... And now, wherever this precious man wanders, the famous blue raincoat notwithstanding, people sing 'hallelujah!'"

Tom Waits and Crystal Gale Create Magic Together on Waits' Most Accessible Outing
Small Combo Band Provides Jazzy and Bluesy Support
Stupendous Sonics: Music Largely Recorded Live on Studio Floor
One From the Heart ranks among the best soundtracks in history. Essential for any Tom Waits or Crystal Gayle devotee, it sets an example of what's not only possible, but should be expected and demanded, when two likeminded artists collaborate. Heartstrings are tugged, passions kindled and lost, sentiments exchanged, skeletons dragged out of closets, seasons changed, romantic truisms cited. And its wide-open sound is supreme, the result of most tracks being recorded live in the studio, free of after-effects and interference.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's 180g LP presents the Academy Award-nominated One From the Heart in stunning sonic relief. You'll be able to gauge the signature tones of the guitars and hear inside the cavity of Waits' piano. Perhaps most importantly, Gayle and Waits' voices now sound just feet away, with your room converted into the world's coolest late-night lounge. Spatial cues, background accents, and studio dimensions emerge with striking realism.
Inspired by a track Waits cut with Bette Midler on his Foreign Affairs effort, One From the Heart overflows with simpatico chemistry, poignant contrast, elegant atmospherics, and awestruck intimacy. On their four vocal duets, Gayle and Waits inhabit the personas of a man and woman breaking apart yet sharing common bonds. Their singing plumbs emotional depths that traverse melancholy, sensuality, and understanding. Made before Waits' baritone turned into a deep, gravel-laden instrument, the songs are more smoke than whiskey, more piano-man empathy than hipster growler.
Written by Waits, the music occupies a common ground between laidback small-combo jazz, lounge pop, and downbeat blues. Classy string orchestrations abet a crack ensemble comprised of saxophonist Terry Edwards, drummer Shelly Manne, pianist Pete Jolly, bassist Greg Cohen, and others. The arrangements seamlessly melt into both vocalists' leads, allowing every note-every piano clink, acoustic bass ripple, brushed snare drum-to register with utmost magnitude.
Experienced on stunning soliloquy pieces such as Gayle's mournful ballad "Is There Any Way Out of This Dream?" and back-and-forth collaborative efforts like the breakup take "Picking Up After You," beautiful instrumentation, spacious production, and flawless vocal phrasing take hold. You can picture the broken dreams exiting out the side doors of the dim bars and abandoned houses that pepper the narratives. Renowned for his sad songs, Waits has never been in better form, the goodbye fare clicking with unflinching honesty and personality.

MUSD-MFSL-475xElvis Costello and Burt Bacharach
Painted from Memory
An Unforgettable Exhibition of Stellar Melodies, Gorgeous Arrangements, and Fully Bared Emotion: Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach's Brilliant Painted from Memory a Collaboration for the Ages
Mastered from the Original Master Tapes and Strictly Limited to 3,000 Numbered Copies: Mobile Fidelity 180g LP of Painted from Memory Features Incredible Detail, Lushness, Textures, and Scope
Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach's Painted from Memory endures as an extraordinary exhibition of prime music making, gorgeous arranging, and naked emotion. Having transpired after the pair teamed up on God Give Me Strength for a film soundtrack (and the closing track here), the album has since gone on to become one of the most respected - and admired - projects of each artist's considerable careers. Its expert employment of melody and harmony imparts a timelessness that stretches back to pop's golden age and icons such as Roy Orbison, Ray Charles, and Frank Sinatra. Further boosted by meticulous production, it has long called out for audiophile treatment. Mobile Fidelity's analog reissue brings it all full circle.
Mastered from the original master tapes, pressed on dead-quiet 180g vinyl at RTI, and strictly limited to 3,000 numbered copies, Mobile Fidelity's vinyl LP of Painted from Memory transforms the 1998 set into an essential component of any library. Always an effort that rewarded solitary listening, it now breathes with ravishing openness, reveals crystalline detail, unfolds against jet-back backgrounds, mesmerizes with a rainbow of textures, and constantly engages with its impossible smoothness. For the first time, the scope of the intricacies, nuances, and phrasings embedded in Bacharach's meticulous compositions can be experienced in full. The orbit of the bridges, refrains, and codas beguiles the senses. Ditto the poetic reach of Costello's singing and lyrics.
Indeed, the level of care and concern invested into every passage of Painted from Memory is immediately gleaned by the ravishing sonics afforded on this collectable edition - amazingly, the first time this title has been available on LP. Reference-grade presence, tonality, and balance help capture the sweep of the strings, colorful blush of the horn accents, and weight of the piano. Steve Nieve's keyboards, Greg Cohen's bass, Dean Parks' guitar, and Jim Keltner's drums seemingly appear right in the room. Rather than smear together or jockey for position, each instrument enjoys its own place and simultaneously sounds part of the rich, lush, complex albeit completely interwoven tapestry. Graceful, elegant, and classicist-minded, Painted from Memory is a genuine masterpiece - and a true collaboration.
No wonder Costello dedicated a large portion of a chapter from his Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink memoir to his time with Bacharach. Among his insights, Costello explains how crafting the album forced him to be a better writer and singer - and a better listener, stating: Writing those first songs with Burt Bacharach required me to listen to what the music was really saying to me. Sometimes it was speaking so quietly that I needed to listen very intently. I needed time for the meaning and feeling that I sensed in the music to be confirmed by my own words. The strange thing was that the title of a song often came to me in an instant, but then would begin the more excruciating task of negotiating Burt's spacious melodies and rhythmic subtleties.
The very aspects Costello discusses come to the forefront on remarkable torch pieces such as the intensely dramatic This House Is Empty Now, melancholic Thief, and Grammy-winning I Still Have That Other Girl. In addition to Bacharach's suave, sophisticated, strikingly exquisite orchestrations, Costello's vocals carry the day. Straddling two octaves and sighing with pain, bittersweet romance, and wistful reflection, his baritone stretching to convey highs and lows with crooner-like poise, breadth, and fastidiousness. Thrilling, distinctive, and memorable, the performances are just like the entirety of Painted from Memory itself - unforgettably great.

As a multi-genre labyrinth, PHILM resonates not only the individual symphonic personalities of its members, but
their uniquely agile bond in instrumentation as a whole.
Front-man Gerry Nestler, noted for his undeniable skill and rapport with his guitar, is best known for his work
with progmetallists, Civil Defiance. An impassioned vocalist, his musical journey has also found him gaining
much respect for his lyrical prowess. Nestler describes PHILMs music as, "Heavy but sensitive, powerful and
atmospheric." He further elaborated, saying ". The music of PHILM is channeled through the many different
influences of drum and bass, expressionism, and underground that is indigenous to the street, Nestler states.
There are many different things that Dave and I have been into that have contributed to the vision of PHILM.
Pancho's highly skilled bass playing, chordal color and shape have helped expand the overall sound
instrumentation and groove. Dave Lombardo's drumming goes without comparison.
Bassist, Pancho Tomaselli, a long-time member of funk rockers, War and most recently, Tower of Power is
sought after for his aggressively malleable, yet smooth way around his bass guitar. Drummer, Dave Lombardo,
is most widely known for his legendary work with a band he co-developed at the young age of 17, SLAYER. His
work with Mike Patton (Fantomas), John Zorn (Bladerunner), Grip Inc., and many others, leaves no room for
questioning his legendary status as one of the most skilled and innovative drummers in the world. Justifiably
typecast to the genre he helped trail-blaze, it is certainly a shock to Lombardo enthusiasts to see his infamous
drum set now scaled down to a four piece kit. But, the depth of his musical aptitude is much more than what
has come to be known as his signature sound. His prodigious skill and affinity for heavy, penetrating grooves is
oddly taken to another level in his work with this riveting trio. To quote Tomaselli, "It's like playing with the
seven, not four, horses of the Apocalypse behind you."
PHILMs music is a dense, unholy convergence of tones and discords." Lombardo states, " We tend to live on the
heavy side, but we also touch on haunting, desolate, ambient sounds.
These three innovative musicians have masterfully revived the concept of the Power Trio. Often improvised,
their live set can find their audience entranced by a raw, tonal journey that is both awe-inspiring and thrilling1. Train

Songs From The Vanished FrontierSongs from the Vanished Frontier, the second album from New York's Yellowbirds, includes love songs and breakup songs, happy numbers and sad numbers, tunes about not believing in the truth and, alternately, tunes about delivering it. There's bracing rock 'n' roll and bubbling folk, drifting jangle and swiveling R&B. But the thread that unites these nine instantly affecting songs is their search to find the signal amid the noise that is, to understand the world and its whirlwind and to deliver just a little bit of clarity every three or four minutes.
Singer, guitarist and songwriter Sam Cohen who first came to prominence as part of the experimental psych rock band Apollo Sunshine founded Yellowbirds as an outlet for new songs he'd been writing following his former band s dissolution. Yellowbirds debut album, The Color, was released by The Royal Potato Family in 2011 and received favorable reviews, with Pitchfork noting that the record espoused 'an endearing raggedness, as though Cohen invited you into his living room.' Vanished Frontier hinges on the same intimacy. The album glows with spectral harmonies and interwoven textures, decorative percussion and brilliant guitar playing; but, these are songs that could stand on their own, stripped of all that. In the end, the noise supports the signal.1. Stop Tonight

The Club Album Live From Yellow LoungeIn May of 2015, violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter gave a truly unique concert: rather than standing on stage in one of the world's renowned well-tempered grand concert halls, she spent two evenings playing in a tiny graffiti-scrawled nightclub in Berlin. Recorded in front of a standing-room only audience, this new 2-LP release includes popular works by Bach, Copland, Gershwin, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi and many more. Their final studio album - remastered and expanded! Following up 1987's Lolita Nation (whose reissue appeared on numerous year-end "best of" lists for 2016) would be no easy task for Game Theory. But, Scott Miller and company were certainly up for the task.
Re-teaming with producer Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Marshall Crenshaw, Velvet Crush), 2 Steps From The Middle Ages was released in 1988 and showed the band had no shortage of energy, experimentation, and excellent material.
The first pressing of this LP reissue, on vinyl for the first time since its initial release, comes on translucent orange colored vinyl. Packaging includes rare and previously unseen photos from the band's photographer, Robert Toren, as well as essays from Easter, Ken Stringfellow (The Posies, Big Star), and Franklin Bruno (The Village Voice, Salon.com).
The band's drummer, Gil Ray, who was involved in all aspects of the Game Theory reissue series including this title, sadly passed away earlier this year. This reissue is lovingly dedicated to him.

Shine A Light: Field Recordings From The Great American RailroadIn March 2016, singers Billy Bragg and Joe Henry, guitars in hand, boarded a Los Angeles bound train at Chicago's Union Station with the hope of reconnecting with the culture of American railroad travel and the songs it inspired. Winding along 2,728 miles of track, the pair recorded songs while the train paused to pick up passengers. In waiting rooms and at the track side in St. Louis, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Alpine, El Paso and Tucson, they set up their recording equipment, performing classic railroad songs while keeping one eye on the train, bounding back aboard just before pulling out for the next town. After four days crossing the country, they pulled into Los Angeles at 4:30am, recording their final song in Union Station at dawn, just as the first birds began to sing.
The resulting album Shine A Light: Field Recordings From The Great American Railroad takes listeners along on that journey and will be released September 23 on Cooking Vinyl Records. The album features the perfectly matched voices of Bragg & Henry and captures the varied atmospheres and environments in which they recorded-from the close proximity of soft furnished sleeping cars to cathedral-like ambience of waiting halls built to hold thousands of passengers. Containing thirteen songs originally recorded by legendary singers such as Lead Belly, Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers and more, the album reveals an often forgotten but integral part of America's musical heritage.1. Dr.Dog's third studio album on Anti, BRoom, marks the band's greatest point of clarity in more than a decade of performing and recording. Their arrangements, while still ambitious, are much simpler, moving past the multitracked pastiche of earlier efforts into a unique and vibrant band voice. Indeed, it is this discovery of the bandcollective as a compositional tool that makes BRoom the most cohesive, soulful, loose, and plain fun record of their career.
The title of BRoom references the bands newly built studio, an integral part of making the new album; the band built the new studio themselves, from the studs to the sheet rock to the recording booth. As
Leaman now understands, making a record is a lot like doing construction. Both require a similar amount of frustration, intensity, and cohesion. By building the space first and releasing all of that emotion, the band was then free to engage in their creative process without the expectation or preconception that they admittedly had brought into
Recording many of the album's tracks as live takes, Dr.Dog discovered the soul roots always inherent in their Philadelphia background. "The Truth",the Gamble and Huff inspired track that opens the album, is only the most obvious manifestation; on songs like "Minding the Usher" and "Love" the spontaneity of the band's live performances seamlessly fuses
with the intricacy of their kaleidoscopic composition. From the construction of the studio to the recording of the album that took place within its walls, the band has found that boundless moment of creativity where their spirit and soul coexist.1. The Truth
