    Away From The Water

'Away From The Water' is the highly anticipated debut album from London six piece Lola Colt. Produced by Bad Seed Jim Sclavunos, the album has been intricately crafted by the songwriting partnership of vocalist Gun Overbye and lead guitarist Matt Loft through a cinematic writing style born of a mutual love of vintage film and visual soundscapes. Hailed as one of London's most exciting and captivating live bands by fans and critics alike, this six-piece have been taking audiences by storm. Crystallising their breathtaking live experience into physical form has been an intense and challenging experience as Matt explains Our music is pure escapism and the thought of recording it felt strangely like trying to put up walls around a dream. What we strived to create is a timeless record that takes the listener on a journey to a different place with each listen.

    The Tower Of Foronicity

The return of Icelandic Singapore Sling with their seventh studio album. Twelve tracks of that dark, moody and broody sound that we all have come to know so well. It's like a surrealistic dream sequence out of a David Lynch movie. Walls and walls of sound, layered between darkness and light. The album contains some of the bands best songs to date, including the opening track "You Drive Me Insane" with its thump coming at you, it'll have you tasting the blood immediately. It was born out of love and hate. Love of the various music from the past, mainly rock 'n' roll, and hatred of the majority of the music around him.

Kevin Parker (vocals/guitar) and Dominic Simper (bass) formed Tame Impala as 13-year-olds in Perth in 1999, sticking to bedroom recordings until 2007, when Jay Watson joined them on drums and backing vocals. Their sound was pure late '60s, but wasn't the sound of any specific band from the era. They were as likely to be channeling the Nazz as the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Cocooned away inside walls of psychedelic fuzz in Western Australia they re-created their preferred period one song at a time with the aid of gear and production techniques that sounded like they hadn't been dusted off since 1968.

Death Of Lovers is a new band featuring current members of Whirr and Nothing, formed from a bond members made while touring together in 2013.

Although Death Of Lovers carries qualities of members previously applauded efforts, they carry a shimmer and fuzz all their own. Dreary vocals, slow motion melody, and plodding percussion swirl together to create a crushingly depressing atmosphere. Kicking up the dust of their prominent influences (Joy Division, The Cure, etc) as they explore the fractured depths the of their uniquely haunting sound. They're integrated with the radiant flicker of Stan Brakhage's domestic/personal 1960s art films, the mechanized music of Conlon Nancarrow, Mister Rogers' avant-garde children's operas, and the methods of grunge-era home-taping alchemists Eric's Trip, with scriptures giving voice to the unknown.

    Live at the Paradiso

Limited To 600 Copies On Soft Purple Vinyl

Soft Machine was one of the first prog-rock bands, but if your vision of prog-rock consists of musicians wreathed in pot smoke airily singing of fairies and wizards, it will be summarily dispelled by this fantastic "authorized bootleg," which captures the band in March 1969 at the Paradiso in Amsterdam, playing material that was to be released six months later on Soft Machine: Volume Two.

The trio of Robert Wyatt on drums and vocals, Mike Ratledge on organ and Hugh Hopper on bass launch what can only be called a high-decibel, jazz-rock sonic assault; "Like vindaloo for the ears" is how Hopper puts it on the accompanying notes on the inner sleeve, adding, "I do remember playing incredibly loud, Mike on fuzz organ and me on fuzz bass, both through hundred-watt Marshall stacks." Some of the frenzied instrumental passages might recall Miles Davis' Agharta-era band, but remember, this is a trio making all this racket (in 1969, no less); Soft Machine at this point in time were on a journey all their own. This is the first-ever vinyl release of this notorious concert, and it comes on "soft" purple vinyl limited to 600 copies. Anybody interested in just how far out rock got in the late '60s will want to give this repeated listens.

A sonic assault melding influences such as Sunny Day Real Estate, Neutral Milk Hotel and Nirvana, Philadelpia, PA's Balance And Compsure's upcoming full length, Separation adheres to the band's namesake. A cohesive listen of anthemic and melodic guitar blitzes with poignant lyricism, rhythmic thrusts and an abrasive pop knack in its over deliverance, Separation churns in a fortified enclave of guitar fuzz and impending rhythms that drive heavily.

Balance And Composure may wear their love for early '90s underground alt rock on their sleeves, but they are in no way merely a throwback band as much as they are an outfit who respects their influences, and pushes them forward into brash sonic terrortory with the us vs. the world ethos of genuine punk rock.

As much spiritual adherents of black sounds as they were of black Islam, Fathers Children was born in the dirt and grime of Washington, D.C., and incubated in local producer Robert Hosea Williams less-than-immaculate suburban beltway garage. Hailing from the Adams-Morgan neighborhood, in 1973 Nick Smith, Billy Sumler, and Ted Skeet Carpenter created a lost document of gritty soul, concerned with its own time and place, stripped of the L.A. gloss that permeated the the groups own 1979 debut for Mercury.

Weatherhead is the sophomore album from Helms Alee. Their gamut of timbres from the most guttural blown-out roar to the most graceful lilting melody summon a sense of triumph, empowerment and conquest.

The relentless chugging fuzz and vocal harmonies of Elbow Grease, the concrete thrust of the central riff of 8/16, the thunderstruck arpeggio of Pretty As Pie, the siren song of Pig Pile, the unbridled scuzz of Ripper No Lube and the alternating agit-punk and anthemic approach of the title track all reinforce Helms Alees position as masters of diametrically opposed tactics.

They are the true heroes and heroines of the loud-quiet-loud. Weatherhead was recorded by Matt Bayles at Studio Litho and Red Room Studios in the Winter of 2010-2011.

First Pressing Of 1000 Numbered Copies On Transparent Vinyl

While the instrumental Fourth had forayed deep into jazz-rock territory, Fifth found Soft Machine working almost completely in the jazz idiom.

As Soft Machine moved further away from rock on Third [MOVLP183] and Fourth [MOVLP1602], drummer/vocalist Robert Wyatt's dissatisfaction with the band's direction grew and, by the time sessions started for Fifth in late 1971, he had left permanently to form Matching Mole.

Wyatt's replacement Phil Howard's propulsive rhythms make a vital contribution to memorable Ratledge compositions like All White and Drop as they gather momentum and coalesce into driving grooves. All White is focused largely on Elton Dean's sax performance while Drop ultimately showcases the intense busy fuzz of Ratledge's organ.

This is essentially a jazz record, more concerned with texture and interplay than with song-based structures. It's a trip alright.

    Soft Opening

We are excited to announce the second edition of Posse's Soft Opening LP featuring inverted color jacket artwork. Soft Opening follows Posse's 2012 self-titled album and subsequent EP of Smog covers. Band members Sacha Maxim, Paul Wittmann-Todd, and Jon Salzman recorded the album over an extended period of time in their homemade studio, with little external assistance.

Soft Opening is not intended to be slick and is also not intentionally rough. It is meant to be a degraded reflection of Posse: their optimism, their hopelessness, their limitations, filtered through their abilities and interests.

These songs are blankets designed with soft colors and graceful edges, made to lay over pits of anger and disappointment. They leap from mercurial, spacious leads to malevolent cross-eyed solos. The rhythm guitar drifts and phases while the bass tiptoes atop the drums. Delay by Boss and Akai. Distortion and fuzz provided by Rivera, ZVex, and Ibanez.
