    The image of London's dramatic Tower Bridge is so famous that it is often mistakenly thought of as London Bridge. Tower Bridge, completed in 1894, is an unusual combination of suspension bridges on the land side of the towers, and dual bascule spans in the center. As with the many bascule bridges in St. Petersburg, Russia and over the Chicago River, moving this weight-balanced roadway requires comparatively little energy, making it very efficient for allowing river traffic to pass. Tower Bridge's original hydraulic accumulators were a significant advance in storing the energy required to be able to open the two 1,000 ton bascules in only five minutes.


    SOLID LONG-GRAIN COPPER (LGC) CONDUCTORS: Solid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion. Evergreen's solid Long-Grain Copper allows a smoother and clearer sound than cables using regular OFHC (Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity) copper. OFHC is a general metal industry specification regarding "loss" without any concern for distortion. LGC has fewer oxides within the conducting material, less impurities, less grain boundaries, and definitively better performance.


    FOAMED-POLYETHYLENE INSULATION: Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Tower uses air-filled Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation on both conductors because air absorbs next to no energy and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Thanks to all the air in Foamed-PE, it causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials.


    METAL-LAYER NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS): 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF Interference from modulating the equipment's ground reference requires AQ's Noise-Dissipation System. Noise-Dissipation System prevents a significant amount of RFI from reaching the equipment's ground plane.


    ASYMMETRICAL DOUBLE-BALANCED GEOMETRY: Purpose designed for single-ended applications, Asymmetrical Double-Balanced Geometry offers a relatively lower impedance on the ground for a richer, and more dynamic experience. While many single-ended cable designs use a single path for both the ground and the shield, Double-Balanced designs separate the two for cleaner, quieter performance.


    COLD-WELDED, GOLD-PLATED TERMINATIONS: This plug design allows for a connection devoid of solder, which is a common source of distortion. Because the ground shells are stamped instead of machined, the metal can be chosen for low distortion instead of machinability.

    Shielded Solid Silver Conductor Interconnect Cables


    Bob's Devices continues to break the price barrier by offering top quality audiophile cables at 1/3 the price of competitive products. All our cables are hand crafted, fully balanced, individually tested and terminated with top of the line Cardas Audio SRCA and the new Cardas XLR connectors. For those of you who prefer RCA locking connectors, we offer the Vampire LRCA-8 Locking connectors with spring loaded center pin.. The interior connections are resistance soldered and dampened in pure Teflon wrap.


    The silver and silver clad interconnects are terminated using WBT silver solder. As always, we back our cables with our 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. All Bob's interconnects feature a balanced type of architecture with internal conductors carrying the + and - signal with an additional braided conductive shield that is connected on one end only. This provides shielding effectively rejecting RF and EM interference without creating ground loops (say goodbye to hum).


    Three lines of cables are offered: cables with Solid Silver conductors, cables with Silver-clad copper conductors and our limited production vintage cables constructed with copper conductors.


    This Solid Silver custom terminated interconnect is Bob's top-of-the-line cable. It features a pair of pure silver 22 awg conductors and triple-shielding consisting of a silver plated OFC braided shield coupled to an Aluminum/Mylar shield and a Teflon PTFE shield. Covering the shield is a braided nylon sheath encased in a clear PVC outer jacket. Internally, this cable has 5 polyethylene air tubes separating and isolating the conductors.


    Bob's silver cable is custom terminated in our lab with your choice of the best Cardas SRCA or the new Cardas XLR connectors.


    Bob's custom terminated silver-clad crystal copper interconnects feature a balanced design architecture using Polyethylene insulation and a pair of silver plated copper conductors (SP-OFC) that are insulated with Foamed Polyethylene, and wrapped together by a double screen shielding consisting of a tinned OFC braided shield coupled to an Aluminum/Mylar shield. This wire architecture is modeled from the wire Koetsu uses to wrap their Platinum magnets. We believe the results will thrill you with exhilarating highs, tight bass, and romantic mids - very much the Koetsu paradigm. These interconnects not only shine with tube equipment but do especially well with a solid-state phono stage and preamp.

    Their 13th studio album - simply titled Wire, - comprises material that was written with the album in mind, but toured extensively first, as well as songs that Newman introduced to the group in the studio just prior to recording. The idea was to get the most spontaneous reaction possible from the musicians, and far from the rough and ready results one might expect from such a tack, Wire is full of swooning pop melo-dies with a 60s tinge and an irresistible, near motorik rhythmic momentum. One can recognise certain me-lodic inflections, guitar and bass motifs, and drum rhythms from Wire's idiosyncratic vocabulary but it has a remarkable freshness. The basic tracks were recorded at Rockfield Studios with overdubs added at Brighton Electric. The 11 tracks selected for release were the ones that came together most naturally. From the outset Wire was an alliance between four very different characters and continues today with the addition, in 2012, of It Hugs Back guitarist Matthew Simms, who is around thirty years younger than the other group members. "With Matt there was a really new dynamic that had appeared in the group's sound and that was something we wanted to capture, utilise and be creative with," says Lewis. Wire is the first album where Simms has been involved in formulating the material from the ground up, but when the group's particular chemistry starts working he is now very much part of the process.

    The iDefender3.0® protects against the common problems of ground loop noise and noisy USB power:


    • Breaks noisy ground-loops. Significantly reduces system noise floor and makes for better dynamic contrast, warmth and resolution
    • Disconnects the USB Power from the PC and replaces it with a clean external power (optional iPower* 5V for ultra low noise)

    To be used directly at the Source such as the PC usb port, it breaks ground loops and cuts the noisy USB power line. From computer audiophiles, musicians, home studio artists to pro audio customers, it improves audio playback quality at home and on-the-go.


    There are more than a few products that break the USB power connection, but of the ones known to us, they do very little because the noisy ground connection remains.


    For DACs that do not use USB power (except for handshake) the iDefender3.0® breaks the ground connection eliminating earth loops, while allowing normal handshake operation to continue. So in terms of cutting out the noise, it does it in the most comprehensive way possible while at the same time, in an electrically correct way.

    Ultra High quality laminations, lower inductance and superior sound. These transformers were especially designed and tested with several low-output moving coil cartridges. These are very difficult transformers to construct and require a precision manufacturing process that can only be done by David Geren at CineMag. The same construction techniques are used as in the 1131, except that the inductance of the SKY 30 is even lower due to the lower step up ratios.


    Hand Crafted, Moving Coil (MC) Cartridge Step-up Transformer (SUT) built with new CineMag SKY 30 (Blue Version) Transformers and gold plated hardware in a hand polished black powder coated cast-aluminum enclosure. All lettering is laser etched. Included are 2 switches: high/low gain and ground/lift.


    Includes premium construction with C&K Brand Silver contact toggle switches, and Deluxe Gold Plated RCA jacks.


    These specially designed transformers are wired to connect a moving coil cartridge (on a turntable) to a phono preamplifier, phono input of a receiver, or your preamp's phono input.


    Switchable for 1:15 (24 dB gain) or 1:30 (30 dB gain).


    Into a standard 47k phono preamp, the effective input impedance of the low gain (1:15 ratio) is 209 ohms. At 1:30, the effective input impedance is 52 ohms.


    The 1:30 ratio is perfect for most low output cartridges.


    Construction Techniques:

    All connections are Resistance soldered using the American Beauty system which avoids heat damage to the delicate insulation on the hair-like wires of the transformers. Test equipment is very low current to avoid saturating the transformer cores. You can count on a premier product that is state-of-the-art.


    This unit includes a grounding post that can be used to connect your turntable ground and your preamplifier ground. It also includes a ground lift switch. In all modes, the transformer cases and faraday shield internal to the transformers are connected to the ground screw. In the ground mode, the phono system minus sides (negative sides) are connected to the grounding lug. This configuration works well for those systems where the turntable ground is connected to the negative leads coming from the phono cartridge or where the negative inputs to the preamp are internally connected to ground. In the lift mode, none of the conductors in the RCA jacks are connected to the case, ground, or shield and there is no electrical connection between channels. This design allows you much flexibility to mitigate for ground loops regardless of the configuration of your other equipment.

    SOLID 100% PERFECT-SURFACE SILVER CONDUCTORS (PSS): Perfect-Surface Technology applied to extreme-purity silver provides unprecedented clarity and dynamic contrast. Solid conductors prevent strand interaction, a major source of cable distortion. Extremely high-purity Perfect-Surface Silver minimizes distortion caused by the grain boundaries that exist within any metal conductor, nearly eliminating harshness and greatly increasing clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N and other coppers.


    FEP AIR-TUBE INSULATION (FEP is a Fluoro-Polymer): Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then later released as distortion. All of WEL Signature's conductors use Air-Tube insulation because air absorbs next to no energy, and FEP is the best extrudable solid insulation and absorbs less energy than other materials. The FEP Air-Tubes used in WEL Signature have almost nothing but air around the solid PSS conductors.


    DIELECTRIC-BIAS SYSTEM (DBS, US Pat #s 7,126,055 & 7,872,195 B1): All insulation slows down the signal on the conductor inside. When insulation is unbiased, it slows down parts of the signal differently, a big problem for very time-sensitive multi-octave audio. AudioQuest's DBS creates a strong, stable electrostatic field which saturates and polarizes (organizes) the molecules of the insulation. This minimizes both energy storage in the insulation and the multiple nonlinear time-delays that occur. Sound appears from a surprisingly black background with unexpected detail and dynamic contrast. The DBS battery packs will last for years. A test button and LED allow for the occasional battery check.


    CARBON-BASED 7-LAYER NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS): 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF Interference from modulating the equipment's ground reference requires AQ's Noise-Dissipation System. Metal and Carbon-Loaded synthetics prevent most RFI from reaching the equipment's ground plane.


    TRIPLE-BALANCED GEOMETRY: The three conductors in "Triple-Balanced" WEL Signature cables ensure that whether prepared with RCA or XLR plugs, the positive and negative signals have equally low-distortion conducting paths. The 100% coverage shield is never used as an inferior conductor.


    COLD-WELDED HANGING SILVER DIRECTLY OVER PURE RED COPPER SYSTEM: This plug design enables a perfect heat-free connection between cable and plug. The connection between the plug and conductors is made using AQ's Cold-Welded System, which provides a superior connection that ensures that the structural integrity of the conductor is kept completely intact. The Cold-Welded System refers to a combination of high pressure at the point of contact and the use of copper- or silver-impregnated paste. (WEL Signature's silver conductors get silver paste.) XLR plugs are also available.


    TERMINATIONS: The WEL Signature interconnect RCA and XLR connectors' striking visual appearance is the result of many years of intense research into every aspect of plug design. These plugs are precision-engineered components far surpassing the performance of any previous design. The sole guiding mandate for the WEL Signature plug designs was maximizing sonic performance. WEL Signature connectors must be as sonically "invisible" as WEL Signature cable! WEL Signature RCA connectors are precision machined from a High-Conductivity Oxygen-Free Pure-Copper Billet (99.94% +Cu) for all conductive parts. FEP is used as the main insulation material. A thick (100 micron) layer of silver is then directly plated over the copper. Similarly, WEL Signature XLR wire bays and contact pins are also machined from HC-OFC Billet, silver plated and secured into a Delrin® bushing.
