Newly Remastered And Pressed On High Resolution 150 Gram Vinyl

With 2002's Home, Dixie Chicks shed some of their pop influences for a more roots-based sound and sold more than six million copies in the US, generating their first pop Top 10 single, a cover of Fleetwood Mac's Landslide, in the process. Home won the Best Country Album Grammy while Long Time Gone, the album's first single, grabbed the Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal trophy. Home took two more Grammys when Lil' Jack Slade won Best Country Instrumental Performance and the album won Best Recording Package.

    Closer To Home

    Import

Produced by Terry Knight, Closer To Home is Grand Funk Railroad's third studio album, and was released in 1970. The album reached Gold record status the same year, making it the group's third Gold record in one year. The album's inside artwork shows a live photo of the band performing at Madison Square Garden in February 1970.

Closer To Home was the record that really broke them through to the commercially successful level of Metal masters such as Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Rather than rushing headlong into their typical hard, heavy, and overamplified approach, Grand Funk Railroad began expanding their production values.

Most evident is the inclusion of strings, the acoustic opening on the disc's leadoff cut, Sins a Good Man's Brother, as well as the comparatively mellow Mean Mistreater. But the boys had far from gone soft. The majority of Closer To Home is filled with the same straight-ahead rock & roll that had composed their previous efforts.

Revisited classic "Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window".

3xCD/1 Vinyl LP Deluxe Edition Features New 40th Anniversary Mix By Album Engineer/Mixer Ed Stasium

Also Includes A Newly Remastered Version Of The Original Mix, Rarities, And Unreleased Studio And Live Recordings

    Includes 12x12 Hardcover Book

Limited Edition Of 15,000 Individually Numbered Copies

Following the success of last year's 40th-anniversary edition of the Ramones' debut album comes a deluxe version of the group's follow-up, Leave Home. Originally released in January 1977, this 30-minute opus of buzzsaw rock introduced fans to classics like "Pinhead" "California Sun," and "Swallow My Pride."

To celebrate the album's indelible legacy, Rhino will release the 3xCD/1 Vinyl LP LEAVE HOME: 40th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION. It contains two different mixes of the album, a remastered version of the original and a new 40th-anniversary mix by original Leave Home album engineer/mixer Ed Stasium, along with a treasure trove of unheard recordings, and an unreleased live show recorded in 1977 at CBGB's.

The deluxe edition will be produced in a limited and numbered edition of 15,000 copies worldwide and comes packaged in a 12 x 12 hardcover book. In addition to the music, the set also features stories about the band by legendary former manager Danny Fields, as told to renowned music scribe Michael Azerrad, as well as details about making the album by Stasium.

The first disc features two different mixes of Leave Home, opening with a remastered version of the original stereo mix. The highlight is the new 40th-anniversary mix of the full album, created by Stasium from the original multi-track tapes, and designed to better reflect the Ramones' raw power and beef up the sound. In the set's liner notes he writes: "Generally, the consensus was [the original] maybe sounded too clean, the guitars panned completely left-right detracted from the band's foreboding presence, and the reverb effects especially were a little excessive." The new 40th-anniversary mix is also featured on the LP that accompanies this deluxe edition.

The second disc is overflowing with more than two dozen rare and unreleased recordings. It begins with rough mixes for 15 tracks recorded for Leave Home at Sundragon studio in New York. Most are missing elements that had yet to be recorded, offering a fascinating insight into the band's recording process and the development of the album. Also included are "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker" and "Babysitter," both of which served as replacement songs on the US and UK versions of the album, respectively, when the band removed "Carbona Not Glue" from the track list shortly after initial release. The disc concludes with a combination of 18 alternate mixes and instrumental versions of all tracks from the album.

The final disc features an unreleased recording of the band's concert at CBGB's on April 2, 1977. The show took place a few months after Leave Home was released and includes live performances of album tracks like "Suzy Is A Headbanger," "Oh Oh I Love Her So," and "Babysitter," the latter of which was only performed live a handful of times, along with classics like "Blitzkrieg Bop" and "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue."

Digging In The Dust: Home Recordings 1976

Songwriter/guitarist Mark Fosson grew up in Kentucky, where he began writing songs while he was still in his early teens. In the late '70s he sent some song demos to John Fahey's West Coast-based Takoma Records, and Fahey, impressed with what he heard, offered Fosson a recording deal. Fosson lost no time in relocating to Los Angeles and began recording with Fahey, but as bad luck would have it, Takoma was in some difficulty, and the label soon folded. Fahey allowed Fosson to retain the master tapes of the sessions, however.

Now located on the West Coast, Fosson met fellow songwriter Edward Tree, and the two began working together, eventually forming the Bum Steers, a country-tinged group, in the late '80s. Fosson material appeared on several soundtracks through the 1990s. In 2001 he began collaborating with singer/songwriter Lisa O'Kane, who recorded several of his songs, and Fosson also began recording a solo project, Jesus on a Greyhound, which was eventually released on Big Otis Records. The record drew positive reviews and Fosson was frequently compared to Americana artists like Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Joe Ely, John Prine, and Guy Clark.

The Fahey material finally saw the light of day as The Lost Takoma Sessions from Drag City Records in 2006. His instrumental piece Another Fine Day is featured on the critically acclaimed Tompkins Square compilation Imaginational Anthem. Now Tompkins Square has put together more hard to come by but welcome material from this gifted artist with the collection Digging In The Dust: Home Recordings 1976, an 11-track set of home recordings Fosson made circa 1976.

You Should Be At Home Here

Formed in 1995 by Mat Brooke and Jenn Ghetto, Carissa's Wierd spent the better part of a decade crafting intricate, melancholic music with hushed harmonies, heartrending lyrics, and sweeping string movements. While Brooke and Ghetto formed the core of the group, various incarnations of the band also included Sera Cahoone, Ben Bridwell, Sarah Standard, and Jeff Hellis, amongst others. Upon the dissolution of Carissa's Wierd, former members of the band went on to form Grand Archives, S, Sera Cahoone, and most notably, Band of Horses. The widespread success of these projects in many ways legitimizes the humble beginnings of Carissa's Wierd and the promise of their sound.

Following the release of the retrospective compilation, Theyll Only Miss You When You Leave: Songs 1996-2003, Hardly Art is reissuing all three of the Carissas Wierd full-lengths. Long out of print, You Should Be at Home Here is the second full-length record in the Carissas Wierd trilogy, originally released on CD by Brown Records in 2001. It is now being released on vinyl for the first time via Hardly Art. The vinyl version comes on opaque brown double vinyl and is housed in custom dust sleeves with a download code.

    Ernie Chambers V. God

Last wave punks Virgin Islands have been making waves in their home city of Seattle and beyond since their inception in the fall of 2009. Ernie Chambers V. God, their debut full-length, is a politically provocative and musically bold rock album with 11 socially charged manifestos that could be the perfect house music for the last party on earth. Arguably post punk and definitely post modern, its an intense and sincere statement from a band whos not afraid to buck the status quo, much like Ernie Chambers himself. Virgin Islands usher in the last wave of rock with conviction.

    Rather You Than Me

Building on months of widespread excitement and anticipation, four-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated multiplatinum rap icon and Maybach Music Group mastermind Rick Ross unleashes his ninth full-length album and first for Epic Records, Rather You Than Me.

Rather You Than Me represents the apex of the rapper's catalog thus far. There are moments of soulful emotion on the likes of "Apple of My Eye" (feat. Raphael Saadiq) and pure rap fireworks during "Powers That Be" (feat. Nas) and "Dead Presidents" (feat. Future, Jeezy, & Yo Gotti). It holds quite a few surprises too including "Idols Become Rivals" (feat. Chris Rock) and the stunning "Maybach Music V" (feat. Dej Loaf).

Now, Rather You Than Me marks the beginning of a new era for Rick Ross and rap music.

"Untouchable" is the best way to describe Rick Ross's decade-plus run at the top of rap. Along the way, he achieved five Billboard Top 200 #1 debuts and three #2 debuts, received four Grammy Award® nominations, graced the cover of Rolling Stone twice, and made history more than once. His debut single "Hustlin'" became the "first mastertone ever certified RIAA platinum before the associated album had been released." He sold millions of singles and albums and cemented his status as one of rap's biggest and brashest voices. Moreover, he founded Maybach Music Group home to Meek Mill, Wale, and more. Signing to Epic Records in 2016, his "untouchable" streak continues with Rather You Than Me.

    Local Customs: Lone Star Lowlands

The second in Numeros series of peeks into the world of regional studios hones in on Mickey Rouses Lowland operation out of Beaumont, Texas. Long after the Boppers plane crashed and the Winter brothers (Johnny and Edgar) and Janis Joplin split, Texas Golden Triangle was home to a vibrant scene of musicians, songwriters, and entrepreneurs just trying to make it in Houston, let alone the world.

From the ashes of a vibrant garage and stage band scene, the Lowland studio and its clientele were formed. Holed up in a rundown strip mall, groups like Mourning Sun, Insight Out, Sage, Sassy, Mother Lion, Hope, Circus, and Boot Hill tracked out hundreds of demos, most of which were put on the shelf and left to bake in the South East Texas heat. Until now.

Over the last two years, Numero has painstakingly gone through every tape in the studios archives, selecting the best of the best (28 for this 2xLP) for this peerless compilation. The songs themselves run the gamut; southern boogie rock, CSNY clones, British blues thunder, garage-psych hangovers, Morricone-esque supper club instrumentals, yacht rock, and what can only be described as Bobby McPherin fronting the Velvet Underground, are threaded together in the way only a tightly-knit scene can be. Shadows, Greys & Evil Ways

The White Buffalo releases his new record 'Shadows, Greys, and Evil Ways' via Unison Music Group. NPR All Songs Considered has called songwriter Jake Smith "an amazing storyteller" and these 14 songs trace the life story of Joey White, a small town outsider who goes to war and returns home only to find more violence as he struggles to readjust to a life away from the front lines and reconcile with the girl he left behind.

"I look at the whole thing as a love story," says Smith. "The beginning is their meeting, and because of his need and want to support her, he goes off to war, which starts his downward spiral."

Recorded at LA's Unison Music Studios and produced by the Grammy-nominated team of Bruce Witkin and Ryan Dorn, 'Shadows, Greys, and Evil Ways' sees the core trio of Jake Smith, bassist Tom Andrews, and drummer Matt Lynott joined by the likes of drumming legend Jim Keltner on "Don't You Want It" and ex-Jayhawk Jessy Greene.

The White Buffalo has had songs included in both 'Sons of Anarchy' and 'Californication,' and his new song "The American Dream" is included on the soundtrack to 'The Lone Ranger,' starring Johnny Depp, next month. Filter has said "influenced by musicians ranging from Bad Religion to Tom Waits, The White Buffalo is ready to break through and stampede into your speakers" and American Songwriter has praised his "deft songwriting chops and a booming whiskey voice."

    EP II(+ Skisser EP)

Alice Boman's voice hits with the emotional force and haunting fragility of Nina Simone. Timeless and direct, the Scandinavian singer returns with a wistful collection of songs on EP II, set to be released via The Control Group (Cate Le Bon, El Perro Del Mar), with a special bonus edition of the stunning debut EP, Skisser.

Hailing from Malmö, Sweden, the singer/songwriter first appeared when she released 2013's Skisservia Adrian Recordings in Europe. Swedish for sketches, Skisser was just that - delicate home recordings from her bedroom Boman gracefully unleashed to the world, that were never meant to fall on any other ears but her own.
Swedish label, Adrian Recordings were wrapping up after a busy summer and had no intention of doing an additional release, heard Skisser and claimed that time itself stopped, and decided to issue the EP on vinyl. The response was overwhelming, with whispers of her craft on The Line of Best Fitand The Wild Honey Pie, eventually growing so loud, that praise from the likes of Interview Magazineand The Guardian naturally followed.

Lead track and first single from the release, What, is a lo-fi fairy tale and fitting introduction to EP II.Much in the vein of Skisser, Boman's penchant for creating beauty through simplicity is carried across to EP II. My lyrics are quite simple and maybe don't give room for a lot of interpretations, so maybe there is not even any need for descriptions, she muses about the new release, which was recorded in a cabin in the Swedish woods - a fitting backdrop to the ethereal EP. And anyway, I like it when you let the music and the lyrics speak for themselves.

    Waiting A Lifetime

Splashh was formed in 2012 by friends Sasha Carlson and Toto Vivian. The pair have been making music together since they were teenagers in the suburbs of Australia, which to be fair, was only a few years ago.

Their debut album, Comfort, recorded entirely on their own with a home studio in their London flat, was released in 2013 to critical acclaim. With praise from NME, BBC, CLASH, The Guardian, Clash, Drowned in Sound, Q, and many other tastemakers, the band hit the road in support of the album touring extensively through the UK, Europe, America and Australia.

In 2015, the band divided themselves between London and New York City, for a time of "self-imposed exile to write." The idea being that the time apart, and the different influences of the two cities, would bring a new dimension to the music. With the addition of new members, and the production skills of Nicolas Vernhes, (War on Drugs, Deerhunter, Dirty Projectors) the sound that this creative time had cultivated has been beautifully captured on Waiting A Lifetime, their sophomore effort, to be released on by Cinematic Music Group in early 2017.

"When we first went in the studio, we had a different idea of how we wanted the record to sound," says Vivian. "We had been sitting with the demos for 3 years, so we had an idea of what we thought the album should sound like. When we went into the studio with Nicolas, we started fresh and tore the songs apart. It was a lot of fun to experiment and take it as far as we could. It was liberating."

Adding another layer to the album is the band's aesthetic. The album artwork is by artist Lucien Smith, who created original works of sculpture he then photographed for the band to use. The first round of press photos is by drummer Zachary Chick.

"It's fast and in your face. Loud, but also pretty," says Toto. "The whole record has a lot to offer. If people like 'Rings' then I think they will love the record or not :)"

Build Me Up From Bones (Discontinued)

Sarah's third Sugar Hill Records release finds the acoustic phenom exhibiting an assured and striking musical voice, proving once again the promise of
her early acclaim. "Widely regarded as one of acoustic music's most promising young talents: a singer-songwriter and mandolin and banjo prodigy with the taste and poise to strike that rare balance of commercial and critical success. - The New York Times

Build Me Up From Bones, the third release from acclaimed 22-year-old singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Sarah Jarosz, is released via
Sugar Hill Records. Build Me Up From Bones was recorded in the midst of Jarosz's final semester at the prestigious New England Conservatory (where
she graduated with honors) and a rigorous touring schedule. Following her mid-May graduation, she flew straight to Nashville to put the finishing touches
on the album. Now set to embark on an exciting new chapter of her life, the songs on Sarah Jarosz's newest release are a compelling portrait of an artist coming into her own. Over the past four years Jarosz has covered a remarkable amount of ground for someone so young. She has toured across the US,
UK and Canada, appeared on A Prairie Home Companion, and taped Austin City Limits and the BBC Series The Transatlantic Sessions. Her two previous records received high praise from outlets including Rolling Stone, USA Today, Paste, Mojo and American Songwriter.

The growth in Jarosz's songwriting is prominent on this new release. She penned nine out of the eleven tracks, and while Jarosz previously tended to write and sing in third person narratives, her new material connects in a much more personal way. Love songs such as "Build Me Up From Bones" pair vulnerability with enough mystery to allow listeners to find their own meaning. The covers she has chosen-Joanna Newsom's "The Book Of Right-On"
and Bob Dylan's "Simple Twist of Fate" reflect the breadth of her evolving influences. Build Me Up From Bones was co-produced with Sarah's longtime collaborator - GRAMMY® award-winning engineer and producer Gary Paczosa. The concept was to keep the focus of the album on a trio configuration of
Alex Hargreaves (fiddle) and Nathaniel Smith (cello) that Jarosz has been touring with since 2010. As the recording progressed, other guests were added,
including Dan Dugmore, Darrell Scott and Chris Thile, building a tasteful instrumental backdrop for Jarosz's warm and expressive vocals.

Sarah Jarosz is that rare combination of instrumental virtuosity, emotive vocals and songwriting chops. With a college degree under her belt, a stunning new release completed and a national tour beginning, she continues to chart her own unique artistic path.

    Archer Trilogy Part 3

The Deer Tracks are Northern Light Electronica duo David Lehnberg & Elin Lindfors, who call Gavle, Sweden their home. These two versatile multi-instrumentalists and singers handle every aspect of their music from writing to recording to production. On The Archer Trilogy Pt. 3, the band exhibits their signature sounds, Elin sings breathlessly over an anxious synthesizer melody and suddenly a hard-edged guitar riff snaps the song in two, only to fall away as strings and bass sweeps in for a soaring chorus.

    Carry The Fire

Singer, songwriter and guitarist DUSTIN KENSRUE will release his new album, CARRY THE FIRE. The new album is the long anticipated follow-up to his 2007 solo debut, Please Come Home. "Back to Back" is a tuneful, infectious song, a folk framework with a rock backbone. It's far from the heaviness of a Thrice song, but it once again proves there are two distinct sides to Kensrue's writing." Kensrue, known for his dynamic solo performances and as frontman for Southern California rock band Thrice, engineered and produced the record on his own while mixing duties were handled by Brian Eichelberger and the album was mastered by Howie Weinberg.

Originally released in 1999, Rachels fourth album is a collection of songs that have been staples of the bands live shows and songs that arose from the freedom of having a home studio. A primary factor in the creation of this record was that for the first time, all three songwriters lived in the same city; Christian Frederickson having joined Rachel Grimes and Jason Noble in Louisville, KY. The first session at Chicago Recording Company in July of 1997 was a clearing of the decks, recording a backlog of songs the band had been performing live for years but hadnt put to tape. A year of touring and songwriting preceded the bands return to the studio, this time at Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, MN. Four days of seclusion in the wilderness produced a group of songs which the band brought home to Louisville. Recording at home allowed the band to experiment with integrating live and electronic textures.

Buffalo Tom formed at the University of Massachusetts at
Amherst in 1984 - a breeding ground of post punk guitar
bands like Dinosaur Jr. and the Pixies. They thrived on US
college radio in the late 1980's and toured extensively in
Europe, the US, Australia and Japan. In 1992 the band
recorded their third album Let Me Come Over with a varied
group of songs they had been developing at home and
on the road - mixing their live power trio sound with some
more acoustic based guitar ballads. The album's single
Taillights Fade would become their signature song.

    Taking The Long Way

Newly Remastered And Pressed On High Resolution 150 Gram Vinyl

With 2006's Taking The Long Way, Dixie Chicks made their most powerful musical and cultural statement to-date. Produced by Rick Rubin, driven by the anthemic mission statement, Not Ready to Make Nice, Taking The Long Way was embraced by critics and fans alike. Dixie Chicks made music history at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards when they became the first female group ever to take home the big three top Grammy honors: Song Of The Year (for Not Ready To Make Nice), Record Of The Year (for Not Ready To Make Nice) and Album Of The Year (for Taking The Long Way). They achieved another Grammy milestone that night when Taking The Long Way became the first Best Country Album ever to win the Album Of The Year trophy. In addition to joining a handful of artists to have claimed all three top Grammys in a single year, the Dixie Chicks went an incredible five-for-five, winning in each of the five categories for which they were nominated including Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal (for Not Ready To Make Nice) and Best Country Album (for Taking The Long Way).

    Wide Open Spaces

Newly Remastered And Pressed On High Resolution 150 Gram Vinyl

Dixie Chicks first came together as a bluegrass quartet in Texas in 1989, later becoming a trio in 1995 when founding members (and sisters) Emily Robison (banjo/dobro) and Martie Maguire (fiddle/mandolin) were joined by 21-year-old Natalie Maines (daughter of guitarist/producer Lloyd Maines) as the group's new lead vocalist and guitarist. By the late 1990s, the classic Dixie Chicks trio lineup struck a stunning balance between the traditional Nashville sound and the contemporary influences of alternative rock and pop.

Dixie Chicks succeeded beyond all expectations: their first album as a trio, Wide Open Spaces, catapulted the group to the top of the country charts and into crossover success. Aided by back-to-back Country No. 1 singles "There's Your Trouble," "Wide Open Spaces" and "You Were Mine," Wide Open Spaces sold more than 12 million copies in the United States--more than all the top country acts of that year combined--and it's still the best-selling country album by a group ever. Wide Open Spaces won the Best Country Album Grammy while There's Your Trouble took home the Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal trophy.

    Live at XX Merge

    First Time Pressed To Vinyl

"The results are in and it's unanimous -- Lambchop stole the show at XX Merge." -- WASHINGTON POST

"..the Nashville weirdos have never gotten the popular attention they've long deserved. Friday night, they won the capacity crowd at the Cradle forever. It was a revelatory
moment, suggesting that we've got five years from right now to reconsider Lambchop." -- PITCHFORK

"It truly was a performance for the ages." -- AQUARIUM DRUNKARD

As Merge fans know, Lambchop has been on the label since 1993, releasing a string of widely varied but consistently brilliant records. But the live Lambchop experience has been somewhat elusive in the U.S. While the band has toured the gilded theaters of Europe and elsewhere for nearly two decades, the Nashville group has seldom toured their home country. To help celebrate Merge's 20th Anniversary the band showed up in one of their largest lineups in recent memory -- 11-strong, including multiple
guitars, keyboards, piano, and a horn section. By the end of their set, everyone in the packed Cats Cradle - band and audience both - was levitating a few inches off the ground.

Lambchop's set at XX Merge was professionally recorded and filmed, and is available now on vinyl for those who missed it, or for those who want to go back again.
