Voices Carry is the first studio album by the American band 'Til Tuesday, released in 1985. 'Til Tuesday's debut single was the album's title track, which went to #8 on the Billboard singles chart and remains the band's best-known song. The title song was originally sung by a woman to a woman, but due to record company pressure for less controversial lyrics it was changed to be sung to a man. The Voices Carry video won the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist and was played heavily on MTV. It depicts a boyfriend trying to convert Aimee Mann to his upper-class lifestyle; she finally lashes out at him during a concert at Carnegie Hall, standing up from her seat in the audience and belting the lyrics (He said, shut up! He said, shut up! Oh God, can't you keep it down?...) as she removes her cap to reveal her signature spiky, rat-tailed hair. The album's second and third singles were Love in a Vacuum and Looking over My Shoulder; the latter peaked at No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100.1. Love In A Vacuum

Lacquer Plating By Gary Salstrom And 200-Gram Vinyl Pressing By Quality Record Pressings!
A musical legacy that began in Hawthorne, California and went on to conquer the world. Analogue Productions presents the ultimate pressings of 14 essential Beach Boys albums! Mastered by Kevin Gray, most from the original master tapes, and plated and pressed by Quality Record Pressings, the finest LP pressing facility in the world, these are awesome recordings to experience. And the look of each album befits its sonic superiority! Presented in old school Stoughton tip-on jackets, these time honored favorites shine brighter than the originals!
Today! was released in stereo for the first time in 2012. These stereo mixes were created between 2005 and 2012 using the first generation basic tracking session multitracks, synced with the overdubs that were later added on second and third generation masters, to create the first true stereo mixes!
Apart from Surfin' Safari, which was mono only, the Beach Boys did turn in stereo masters on all of their early albums up until 1965. The Beach Boys Today! was the first LP for which they only delivered a mono master.
The stereo editions of Surfin' USA, Surfer Girl, Little Deuce Coupe, Shut Down Vol. 2, All Summer Long, Beach Boys Christmas Album and Beach Boys Concert were all mixed in stereo by their own preferred engineer, Chuck Britz, ostensibly under the group's supervision.
Brian may or may not have been present for those mixing sessions - evidence suggests that he trusted Chuck's skills enough to let him prepare those mixes on his own - but the group held onto their multitrack tapes and delivered stereo masters to Capitol, rather than allowing Capitol to prepare their own stereo versions. Later, when Brian was only delivering mono masters, Capitol would prepare the Duophonic pseudo stereo editions for the stereo market, says Alan Boyd, producer and Beach Boys' archivist.
All of the newer stereo mixes on these remastered albums (The Beach Boys Today!, Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!), The Beach Boys' Party, Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile) were all done by Mark Linett on behalf of the Beach Boys.
Put simply, this is the Beach Boys at their mid-'60s prime. Ironically, the band's greatest evolutionary leap was spurred by its leader, Brian Wilson, who decided to drop out of the band's live performances after a December 1964 nervous breakdown to concentrate on honing the Beach Boys' studio sound. With Wilson's productions gaining a significant new depth and confidence (note the innovative modulations on 'Dance, Dance, Dance'), the first half of Today seems a logical, upbeat step forward from its predecessors. But it's the album's second act that steals the show, setting the stage for the triumph of Pet Sounds. Indeed, it's easy to imagine gorgeous, introspective tracks such as 'Please Let Me Wonder,' 'She Knows Me Too Well,' and 'In the Back of My Mind' intertwined with the best of Sounds. - Amazon.com

SPCO-SPE-2694xThe Doobie Brothers
The Captain And Me (Speakers Corner)
The Doobie Brothers weren't brothers, nor were they called Doobie. The band started life as Pud in 1969 in Chateau LibertÉ, a club in the mountains of California. The group took on the slang name for marihuana cigarettes (doobie) one year later. The Doobies' music, however, never sounded like that of befuddled, half-stoned junkies. Heavy metal hard rock was their thing which made their record company Warner target the bikers of the rocker scene. The idea backfired, though, because the band had far more to offer than explosive hard rock.
The album The Captain And Me is considered to be the group's most concentrated and versatile production since it contrasts aggressive, hard numbers with gentle ones full of melodiousness. The very first number, Natural Thing, shows how winsome vocal folk music and electric guitar riffs can be amalgamated into rock music. Amongst these titles, decidedly angry numbers such as Without You and Evil Woman became real trailblazers. Now and then, an extensive harp solo or nonchalant licks from the acoustic guitar remind one of the pungent bluegrass style emanating from the South. That even the sweet wailing of the steel guitar (South City Midnight Lady) finds room for expression seems quite logical in this well-thought-out musical concept.
- Tom Johnston (guitar, harmonica, synthesizer, vocals)
- Patrick Simmons (guitar, synthesizer, vocals)
- John Hartman (percussion, drums, vocals)
- Tiran Porter (bass, vocals)
- Michael Hossack (drums, conga, percussion)
About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.1. Natural Thing

This 1972 release was the first release by Pete Townshend outside of The Who. The album is a collection of music dedicated to Meher Baba, Townshend's spiritual master and follows on from the private pressings of 'Happy Birthday' another devotional album which Townshend put together to celebrate the first anniversary of the passing of Baba and its follow up 'I Am'. 'Who Came First' came about because of the bootlegging of these albums and Decca in the States pushing for an official release. In response Townshend decided to release a new album, with Decca promising $1 of every sale going towards Baba projects. The resultant album exposes Townshend's spiritual enlightenment and sees him perform with fellow Baba followers, including Ronnie Lane and Billy Nicholls.
The album includes Townshend's versions of Who Classics 'Let's See Action' and the sublime opener 'Pure and Easy' as well as cover versions of songs which were Baba favourites. The album closes with the epic 'Parvadigar', a rendition of Meher Baba's Universal Prayer, set to music by PeteTownshend.1. Pure and Easy

The Iron Man: The Musical by Pete Townshend, originally released in 1989, is an adaptation of Ted Hughes' story The Iron Man, produced and largely composed and performed by Pete Townshend of The Who. It also stars Roger Daltrey, Deborah Conway, John Lee Hooker, and Nina Simone.
The three then-surviving members of The Who (Daltrey, John Entwistle, and Townshend) performed as a group in two songs, Dig and Fire, although the latter was not penned by Townshend. (The Who would later perform Dig live during their 1989 reunion tour.)
A Friend is a Friend and I Won't Run Anymore were released as singles; Fire was also issued as a promo-only in the United States.
A stage version was mounted at the Young Vic theatre in London in 1993. On the strength of this, Warners optioned the story for a movie which, with a very different adaptation of the story, became The Iron Giant; Townshend received an Executive Producer credit.1. I Won't Run Anymore

ABBA The Album (Half-Speed Master) (Awaiting Repress)First released in Scandinavia in December 1977, ABBA - The Album took the world by storm, hitting number one in countries such as Sweden, the UK and the Netherlands. It also entered the Top 15 in the US, becoming their highest-charting album in that country.
Naturally, this being ABBA, the album also featured a number of major hit singles: 'The Name Of The Game,' 'Take A Chance On Me' and 'Eagle.' Both these hits and the album itself showed how ABBA tried to develop and challenge themselves, taking significant steps forward in terms of musical complexity, yet remaining catchy and compelling.
In celebration of the album's original release four decades ago, Universal Music Group are releasing a half-speed mastered, 45rpm cut double-LP version of the original album. This rare and specialized technique transforms difficult to cut high-end frequencies into relatively easy to cut mid-range frequencies. The result is a cut with an excellent high-frequency response and very solid and stable stereo images. In short, half-speed mastering produced a master of the highest quality that enables the pressing plant to produce a superlative record.

A Tremendously Important Historic Jazz Record That Pairs Guitar Virtuoso Wes Montgomery With Miles Davis' Rhythm Section - Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb
This is timeless music that has inspired innumerable jazz guitarists and aficionados. In fact, jazz guitar great Pat Metheny has said, I learned to play listening to Wes Montgomery's Smokin' At The Half Note. Metheny additionally said that the solo on If You Could See Me Now is his favorite of all time.
This legendary session was recorded at a New York nightclub. It captures Montgomery at the height of his improvisational powers. Many consider it the best performance on record by one of the most inventive guitarists in jazz history.
Highlights include the Miles Davis opener, No Blues and the following track, Tadd Dameron's If You Could See Me Now. And the album's versions of Unit 7 and Four On Six have helped to establish these songs as jazz standards.

Master Of My Make BelieveSantigold is Santi White: an artist whose perseverance relies on invention, a champion who survives off her own skill and faith. She is a major muse watched by the inspired world, an in categorical performer who collapses time and genre with one hand guided by tradition, while the other hand carves out a shining future. Santigold is neither calm nor mayhem, but from her lungs burst every color in between.
After four years of hide and seek in which blogs blew up at the sudden release of any track with her name attached to it, Santigold returns in a moment of global aggression and vulnerability. Honing in on the hyper-media cult of personality, in her unmistakable voice she asks the listener: Into what fantasy do you hurl yourself as you gaze into the glow of your machine? The answer to this question is central to what drives Master of My Make-Believe, her latest work to be released this spring on Atlantic Records.
As an antidote against self-celebratory status updates in a climate where the focus on fame outweighs a days emotions, Master of My Make-Believe summons pop culture zombies back to life. This is sound proof of an artist on a diligent journey, measuring the power of individual mood against social clamor. Sifting through a wondrous wreckage of airplay, upload, and anguish, Santigolds talent lies in filtering reality through freakdom, to find in desire a timeless spark of raw magic.
Anyone caught referring to Master of My Make-Believe as a sophomore effort is only half right. Though relatively fresh as Santigold, Santi Whites history of writing, production, and performance stretch beyond the centurys flip. Her collaboration with the industrys most recognized and respected talent is something continuous and wide reaching, making her musical lineage all the much richer. Declared Best Breakthrough Artist by NME in 2008 and Pop Music Vanguard by ASCAP in 2009, the voice that defines Santigold is as complex as the faces that pack a subway car, as intimate and honest as conversation on a weathered stoop.
Through chopped pianos, the clink of glass bottles, and the peaking blast of motorcycle engines, Master of My Make-Believe accounts for 21st century details of life from the hearts center to the minds periphery. In her pen and in her voice, the breadth of substance presented in Santigolds newest songs is immediate and complex. There are valleys here wherein the drudge of daily living is met with caution and confronted by mortality, but underneath it all there is the celebration of each persons power and vision to fight toward what they believe. Foxtrot is where Genesis began to pull all of its varied inspirations into a cohesive sound -- which doesn't necessarily mean that the album is streamlined, for this is a group that always was grandiose even when they were cohesive, or even when they rocked, which they truly do for the first time here. Indeed, the startling thing about the opening Watcher of the Skies is that it's the first time that Genesis attacked like a rock band, playing with a visceral power. There's might and majesty here, and it, along with Get 'Em Out by Friday, is the truest sign that Genesis has grown muscle without abandoning the whimsy. Certainly, they've rarely sounded as fantastical or odd as they do on the epic 22-minute closer Supper's Ready, a nearly side-long suite that remains one of the group's signature moments. It ebbs, flows, teases, and taunts, see-sawing between coiled instrumental attacks and delicate pastoral fairy tales. If Peter Gabriel remained a rather inscrutable lyricist, his gift for imagery is abundant, as there are passages throughout the album that are hauntingly evocative in their precious prose. But what impresses most about Foxtrot is how that precociousness is delivered with pure musical force. This is the rare art-rock album that excels at both the art and the rock, and it's a pinnacle of the genre (and decade) because of it.

When this album was originally released in 1973 (the same year as the famed Live set), Genesis had become one of the fastest-rising groups on the pop scene. The band's blend of classical instincts, theatrical presentation, as well as whimsically complex and daring arrangements established them as leaders of the British progressive rock movement, along with fellow giants Yes, ELP, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, and Jethro Tull. After returning to the studio, these talented musicians continued to labor and experiment. The result of their effort is Selling England by the Pound, considered by some to equal their masterpiece, Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. It was truly a group effort and is still widely-acknowledged as one of the great albums from the 1970s! REDD-ONE-2016xThe Sneaker Pimps
Becoming X (Awaiting Repress)Direct Metal Mastering
On 1997's Becoming X, The U.K.-based Sneaker Pimps blend standard rock guitar parts with trip-hop beats and clear white-soul vocals, creating one of the most engaging byproducts of post-Portishead trip-hop. They brilliantly employ electronica's signifiers, jungle's rattle, trip-hop's dark churn, ambient's synth washes and hip-hop's samples here, all with a cool sense of the pop hook and an airy, urban atmosphere that makes for an exciting and entrancing listen.

The EyeOne Little Indian's Direct Metal Masters Reissue Series!
Originally released in 1984, The Eye, was the debut album of the Icelandic post-punk group K.U.K.L. which featured Bjork and Einar Orn (pre-Sugacubes). The music here ranges widely from the wild, grotesque and deconstructionist punk rock of Assassin and Seagull to the almost danceable rhythm and church-like bells of Dismembered and several moments of exotic, oriental-styled fare.

Holidays In EuropeOne Little Indian's Direct Metal Masters Reissue Series!
1986's Holidays in Europe, was the third and final album released by the Icelandic post-punk group K.U.K.L. featuring Bjork and Einar Orn (pre-Sugacubes). This album was more complex in comparison to the The Eye, with the folksy and pseudo-oriental flutes, bells and pipes of that previous album abandoned in favor of keyboards and samples here.
