Happy Jawbone Family Band
Limited, Hand Numbered First Edition LP
Recorded With Travis Taverniere (Woods And Meneguar)
Art By Rob Carmichael/Seen Studio (Animal Collective, Cloud Nothings, Etc )
Freewheeling Brattleboro, VT rock/folk wonderments the Happy Jawbone Family Band bring their latest full-length to Mexican Summer. What they've entrusted us to give to you represents their nest and most directly fullling effort to date. The energy and humor of early releases remains; that band you may have loved before has grown even stronger and more potent, its songs now monuments to individualism, to longing, to happier endings resulting from imperfect circumstances. Binding folk, indie rock and pop forms together is easy enough; it's what this band does with them, how it builds its sentiments and bursts preconceptions, that put them in a place where these musicians can rest, comfortably above and apart from almost every band working in this same terrain today. We're hearing the trippiest moments of the Beatles, Lindsey Buckingham at the peaks he reached on Tusk, and both poles of American post-punk songwriting royalty, Camper Van Beethoven at one end and Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 at the other. Never Trust A Happy SongNever Trust A Happy Song is the debut album from LA indie-rockers Grouplove. The release is a brawny, ecstatic album filled with ambitious, varied, expansive, tunes underscored by crisp percussion and killer harmonies. The variety in the musical taste and writing styles of each member really makes each of our songs unique, drummer/producer Ryan Rabin explains. The honest, open-minded process we go through in rehearsal and in the studio brings the songs home and gives them the 'Grouplove' sound.
Under the Grouplove banner, Colours, became a delicate but powerful slow/fast jam. Itchin On A Photograph is a soaring epic propelled by spacey guitar licks and vigorous handclaps. And Tongue Tied, is an electronic infused dance anthem that showcases the bands obsession with careening harmonies.
Hannah Hooper (keyboards), Andrew Wessen (guitar) and Sean Gadd (bass) all share vocal duties and take their turn fronting the band, though Christian Zucconi (guitar) sings lead on most songs, Ryan produces all of their material, and all five bandmembers receive songwriting credit on every tune: Grouplove is a true collaboration.
The albums title initially seems ironic: on the surface the bands vibe comes off as happy, the songs soar with a kind of shimmering, youthful exuberance. But just beneath that sunny sheen, there is a reservoir of longing and melancholy. The Grouplove signature is blending those two pillars of life: sorrow and joy. Hannah explains, As individuals we are heavier, darker, but when we are together we bring the love.1. Itchin on a Photograph

If ever there was a "band that launched a thousand bands," it would be the Ventures. Founded in Tacoma, WA in 1958, their guitar-based instrumental sound would prove hugely influential, inspiring countless followers to pick up a guitar, bass or set of drumsticks and try to emulate their heroes. As these musical neophytes would soon learn, it wasn't as easy as it initially appeared. The Ventures were masters of tone and technique, deftly arranging their instruments in a seamless approach that was instantly recognizable.
Because they were an instrumental group, their songs needed no translation, which resulted in a huge worldwide following. While many rock bands have claimed to be "big in Japan" over the years, the Ventures were the country's first rock superstars and they maintain a devoted worldwide following to this day. With over 100 million records sold, they are the best-selling instrumental group of all time!
Sundazed is proud to rightfully address the magnificent Ventures' catalog, each title has been sourced from the original Dolton and Liberty Records' reels and painstakingly mastered to sound and feel like they were originally intended. Along with precise artwork restoration on each vinyl LP title, these new Sundazed editions stand as the definitive re-releases of these monumentally important albums!
The Ventures' 1967 release Super Psychedelics offers up a fine split of five covers including Strawberry Fields Forever, Kandy Koncoction, Western Union, Happy Together and A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You to go along with seven originals such as Reflections, Endless Dream and Psyched Out among others.1. Big WorldListening to San Francisco East Bay s Happy Diving it s hard to believe that they ve only been together since 2013. A year ago, friends Matt Berry, Samuelito Cruz, Mikey Rivera, and Matt Yankovitz decided to form a band after previous projects fell apart. Since then they ve released a self-titled EP in late 2013 that fans of Tony Molina, Connecticut s Ovlov and early Weezer can appreciate. Their debut full-length, Big World, out worldwide on October 21, 2014, was recorded over a whirlwind two days at The Atomic Garden in East Palo, CA, with the help of producer Jack Shirley (Deafhaven, Joyce Manor, Whirr). Big World sees the band channeling the energy first displayed on their Self-Titled EP, as well as their deafening and vivacious live shows, into ten concise, sludgy pop songs. This 1972 release was the first release by Pete Townshend outside of The Who. The album is a collection of music dedicated to Meher Baba, Townshend's spiritual master and follows on from the private pressings of 'Happy Birthday' another devotional album which Townshend put together to celebrate the first anniversary of the passing of Baba and its follow up 'I Am'. 'Who Came First' came about because of the bootlegging of these albums and Decca in the States pushing for an official release. In response Townshend decided to release a new album, with Decca promising $1 of every sale going towards Baba projects. The resultant album exposes Townshend's spiritual enlightenment and sees him perform with fellow Baba followers, including Ronnie Lane and Billy Nicholls.
The album includes Townshend's versions of Who Classics 'Let's See Action' and the sublime opener 'Pure and Easy' as well as cover versions of songs which were Baba favourites. The album closes with the epic 'Parvadigar', a rendition of Meher Baba's Universal Prayer, set to music by PeteTownshend.1. Pure and Easy

REDD-THI-2310xMary Chapin Carpenter
The Things That We Are Made OfThe Things That We Are Made Of, the new full-length album by renowned and beloved singer, songwriter and performer Mary Chapin Carpenter, will be released on Lambent Light Records via Thirty Tigers.
Produced by 2016 Producer of the Year Grammy-nominee Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton), the album features eleven new songs, including the lead track "Something Tamed Something Wild. Of the song, Rolling Stone praises, " beautifully sums up where she's been and sets the stage for what's yet to come 'Something Tamed Something Wild' and indeed the entire new album finds the songwriter at her most thoughtful and also at times sweetly whimsical, perfectly capturing the buoyant spirit of her early successes and also serving as a reminder that she remains one of the most grounded, sentient songwriters of her generation."
The Things That We Are Made Of was recorded at Nashville's Sound Emporium and Low Country Sound studios during the spring and summer of 2015. In addition to Carpenter (vocals, electric/acoustic guitar), the album features Cobb (electric/acoustic/gut string guitar, percussion, Moog, Mellotron), Annie Clements (bass), Brian Allen (bass), Chris Powell (drums, percussion), Mike Webb (piano, B3 organ, reed organ, Mellotron, Fender Rhodes) and Jimmy Wallace (piano, B3 organ).
Of the album, Carpenter comments, "Working with Dave felt great from the first day of our sessions. He is always willing to try something new, believes that 'yes' is the only answer, and surrounds himself with wonderfully talented and generous musicians; by the end of the project, I felt as if I was a part of a new family." Cobb adds, "I wanted to work with Mary Chapin because very few people can cut with words like she can. She's an absolute poet and legend. I was so happy to collaborate on this album together."
Over the course of her acclaimed career, Carpenter has recorded 14 albums and sold over 14 million records. With hits like "Passionate Kisses" and "He Thinks He'll Keep Her," she has won five Grammy Awards (with 15 nominations), two CMA awards, two Academy of Country Music awards for her vocals and is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Most recently, in 2014, Carpenter released her acclaimed debut orchestral album, Songs From The Movie. Arranged and co-produced by six-time Grammy winner Vince Mendoza, the record is comprised of ten previously recorded compositions including "Between Here and Gone" and "Come On Come On." Since it's release, Carpenter has performed alongside the New York Philharmonic, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the London Concert Orchestra, the L.A. SadnecessaryYou never know who you're going to meet on the first day of school. Sometimes, you can end up being introduced to one of the best friends you'll ever
know. That was the case for Clemens and Philipp-otherwise known as Milky Chance. The Kassel, Germany duo met in an Advanced Music Course at
the start of eleventh grade, and they creatively gelled right off the bat.
They got along so great that they played in a local band until graduation. Even though the group disbanded when their drummer left Kassel, Clemens and
Philipp kept on making music. Weaving together elegant electronic production with acoustic guitars and lilting, lush vocals, they harnessed a style
unequivocally their own.
Clemens put it best, Think of it as the singer-songwriter spirit mixed with electronic beats. Somehow, it's always a little bit melancholy, but there's a
positive spin. You can dance to most of it too! Melancholy is something that I carry within me. I write the best songs when this mood catches me."
In order to capture that, the boys built a tiny studio in the quiet house Clemens grew up in. Over the course of two weeks in 2013, they cut their full-length
debut, Sadnecessary, on a minimalist setup, spending hours getting the settings just right. They didn't need anything more than a rudimentary interface,
microphone, and computer. That's why Sadnecessary sizzles so much.
After cutting the tracks, Clemens and Philipp uploaded the first single Stolen Dance to YouTube. With its bright handclaps, plaintive acoustic guitars, and
his own gravelly smooth delivery, the song became a viral sensation, eventually racking up over 30 million-plus YouTube views and made them the most
blogged about act on HypeM for that month.
About the song, he says, It's less of a story than a feeling. The feeling in the song refers to a certain moment I wanted to hold on to. It's the sentiment you
experience when you miss somebody you really like and just can't spend time with that person. You're sad the other person isn't there, but you're also
happy for the beautiful moments you've spent together.
Sadnecessary, released on the musicians' own Lichtdicht Records in Europe, became a phenomenon followed by packed shows around the continent. In
early 2014, Republic Records inked a deal with Milky Chance to release the record stateside, opening them up to their largest audience yet.
Now, songs like Down By The River flow between poetic musing and delightfully danceable grooves. Clemens remains honest at every turn though.
There is actually a personal story behind 'Down By The River', he adds. In general it's about being in love, but there's a lot of room for interpretation.
That's important to us.
Ultimately, because of that emotional expanse, these songs will resonate loudly with listeners everywhere. Clemens leaves off, At the end of the day,
we're most happy when people discover our music for themselves and have fun at one of our concerts. It's just great when they listen to a song and
connect it to a personal experience. That's the most amazing thing, and we'd love to encourage that.
Led by the irresistibly catchy, danceable track "Stolen Dance" - which has already hit #1 in 15 countries and amassed over 50 million views on YouTube -
German duo Milky Chance are now poised for greatness in the states as well.
The duo weaves elegant electronic production with acoustic guitars, along with lilting, lush vocals. It's a unique sound that is unequivocally their own.1. Stunner

Sound Of ChangeThe Sound of Change can't come from external forces, it has to emanate from within. For Dirty Heads, evolution beyond their reggae-rock roots has developed over time and is manifested on their new album "Sound of Change." Due out summer 2014 via Five Seven Music, the album boasts some of the groups' most diverse and ambitious work to date. "Sound of Change" takes a literal meaning with the production of this album, as the band links up with Grammy award winning producer Supa Dups (Nina Sky, Bruno Mars), Buddah Shampoo (Ty Dolla $ign), Niles (of hip hop duo, The Cataracs), Ward 21 (311, Major Lazer reggae collaborators) and long-time friend and collaborator, Rome (Sublime).
The feel-good vibe associated with their sound was not forgotten. Sonically, "Sound of Change" amps up the groundwork laid by previous albums. Fine-tuned alternative choruses work harmoniously with hip-hop influenced production that seams the songs together. Universal themes of compassion, reflection and happiness are at the core of "Sound of Change." "We wanted the songs on this album to touch on the things we deeply care about and the people we are inside" front man Jared (Dirty J) Watson asserts, "but then we want to address the other side - when the weekend comes and we need to let go and just rage." Who can't relate to that feeling?
Vocalist/Guitarist Dustin Bushnell (Duddy B) is constantly looking to connect the dots between the live show with the album tracks, often mentally mapping out the live elements as the songs are being recorded. For the touring cycle surrounding the release "Sound of Change" the band plans to bring a live show that will energetically compliment each new track. Dirty Heads have racked up their miles bringing that live experience to fans across the globe for over a decade. "Now that our lives are touring we get to see the world," both Watson and Bushnell agree, "we're taking stories and vibes from around the world and making this album is the culmination of that."
The band's breakout 2008 album "Any Port In The Storm" included the chart-topping hit track "Lay Me Down" which features current Sublime frontman, Rome. The track had an incredible run for eleven weeks at #1 on the Billboard charts, laying a solid foundation for their follow up sophomore album "Cabin By The Sea" which was released in 2012. Dirty Heads then began their musical metamorphosis with their 2013 acoustic album "Home - Phantoms Of Summer," allowing time for their metamorphosis embodied in "Sound of Change." Their previous work featured contributions from talent such as Del The Funky Homosapien, Matisyahu, Rome (Sublime) and guitar legend Slash.
"Sound of Change" is a melting pot of all the band members' experiences and musical persuasions, addressing both serious and lighthearted subject matter in their signature way. On the lighter side of the spectrum, "Burn Slow" (Produced by Rome, featuring rapper, Tech N9ne) showcases the hip-hop oriented side of the band. With anthemic choruses and a feel-good aura, Watson boasts the song is the perfect soundtrack for those times when you're "having a good time, going out with friends and realize that sometimes you just need to chill." The retro sound and sexy lyrics of "Hear You Comin," highlights Watson's soaring vocals in its hook. The first single, the metaphorical "My Sweet Summer" (produced by Niles from The Cataracs) is, in reality, a song for all seasons. An undeniable groove underlines the lyrical lament. The title track "Sound of Change" is the key manifestation of the artistic maturation of the band. "The world is always changing political and social outlooks and on a broader scale, look at the changes within yourself" Watson reflects, "the song is about embracing the change life is going to bring no matter what, because that change is inevitable." Though there is diversity on "Sound of Change," as a body of work, it is cohesive in a way only Dirty Heads can achieve.
As a full six-piece unit, frontmen Watson and Bushnell are joined by keyboardist/vocalist Shawn Hagood, percussionist Jon Olazabal, drummer Matt Ochoa and bassist David Foral. This lineup is hell-bent on grabbing new ears with "Sound of Change." Their own journey can be heard within the album- all you have to do is sit back and listen.1. Sound Of Change

Ultra Systems A-Rings (Set)7 And 10 Adapter Rings For Use With The Vinyl Cleaner
A set of two adapter rings allowing 7 and 10 discs to be cleaned in the Vinyl Cleaner. Packaged like a double LP for convenient storage when not in use. This is a product developed by Ultra Systems together with Vinh Vu at Gingko Audio who works with acrylics.
This product addresses two specific challenges:
1. Although notionally 7 and 10 these discs actually vary significantly from these diameters making the development of one size fits all adapters very difficult. The design we came up with should work for almost all 7 and 10 discs,
2. Because 7 and 10 discs have different sizes of center labels than 12 LP's, the outer diameter of the adapter rings cannot actually be 12. Once again finding a happy medium to adapt the entire spectrum of discs was a challenge.$125.00Adapter Rings Buy Now
The UnionThe Union is the highly anticipated collaborative album from Elton John and Leon Russell and it's the first time these iconic artists have worked together since 1970. Produced by Oscar and multiple-Grammy winning producer T Bone Burnett, The Union was recorded live in the studio with Elton and Leon on dueling pianos. The album features a variety of musical genres from R&B, soul, gospel, country, pop and rock. The 14-track set includes selections written by Elton and his lifelong lyricist Bernie Taupin, as well as the combined incomparable songwriting team encompassing Leon, Elton, Bernie and T Bone.
Leon first met Elton in 1970 when he attended Eltons first ever U.S. show at the famous Troubadour in Los Angeles. The meeting heralded the beginning of a long friendship and a mutual appreciation between the two artists. In the late 60s and early 70s, the one piano player and vocalist who influenced me more than anybody else was Leon Russell, Elton said. He was my idol. The pair went on to tour together shortly thereafter at New Yorks Fillmore East and to this day have held such high admiration for each others work.
After years of being out of touch, Elton listened to Leons music while on safari in Africa last summer and was inspired to reconnect with his idol. Elton called to ask if I would do a duet album with him, Russell said. Im very happy that he chose me to do this.1. If It Wasn't For Bad

Man Of The WorldALO is not a band that dwells in the past. Their latest adventure, Man of the World finds the CA collective flexing their considerable creative powers to craft their finest album yet. Recorded almost entirely live, the 11-song collection is the sound of four players who have truly found their groove together. This is ALO at their most natural, their most organic and their most pure.
Man of the World was engineered by the bands steady studio partner Dave Simon-Baker and produced by none other than Jack Johnson, a longtime friend and musical collaborator. The singer/songwriter/producer was a natural fit with ALO. It felt like he joined the band for the album, drummer Dave Brogan admits. He was very hands on. If he thought he could add something to a track, he was willing to go for it. And we were more than happy to let him. For the recording, the quartet packed their bags, said goodbye to their friends and families, and headed off to Johnsons home studio on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii.
As they always have, they shared the songwriting and the vocal duties. Though all four members came to the studio with arrangements and parts of songs fleshed out, everything got scrambled as soon as everyone was together. There was a real workshop vibe, guitarist Lebo affirms. Arrangements were being torn apart and put back together in ways nobody could have imagined. The band had traditionally built their songs up track by track, but they abandoned that approach for a rawer, more organic, one. Songs that sprang out of the bands new recording approach span the sonic spectrum in classic ALO fashion.1. Suspended

Go With MeThe music of Seapony is refreshing in its simplicity. Most songs on Go With Me use no more than three chords, with an average running time around two-and-a-half minutes. In lieu of a human drummer, the Seattle trio entrusts time-keeping to a vintage gizmo the size of a desktop calculator. The lyrics to Dreaming, the track that catapulted them into the spotlight, are just six lines long.
Seapony is songwriter Danny Rowland, singer Jen Weidl and bass player Ian Brewer. Danny and Ian grew up and made music together in Oklahoma. In 2001, they moved to Olympia, WA. In 2004, Danny visited Cincinnati, missed his flight home, and ended up staying in Ohio for four years; he met Jen during his Buckeye State sojourn. After a period of work and study in Lawrence, KS, the happy couple came west in 2010 and were reunited with Ian in Seattle. Seapony was born.
Although Danny has composed many originals over the years, Dreaming was the only finished Seapony tune when he and Jen arrived in the Emerald City; the rest of the songs featured on Go With Me were written afterward. The vision for Seapony became focused around fuzz-drenched simple guitar chord progressions, topped with concise melodic hooks and Jen's breathy vocals.1. Dreaming

All Hat And No Cattle (Awaiting Repress)All Hat and No Cattle follows the group's 2010 self-titled debut, which introduced the veteran Foo
Fighter Chris Shiflett's skill for writing understated, infectious Americana-influenced rock songs. Firm believers that in order to know where you're going, you've got to know where you've been,
Chris Shiflett & The Dead Peasants recorded All Hat and No Cattle with a mix of reverence and revelry. Featuring nine classic honky-tonk covers and one original, the album's playful enthusiasm is palpable throughout the faithful yet fresh interpretations; from the carousing opener Guitar Pickin' Man to the bluesier, doo-wop country of Happy Part Of Town to the apt, barnstorming closer Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way?
While touring with Foo Fighters around their last album, Shiflett was inspired with the idea to learn
an abundance of old school honky-tonk songs, and then hit the road as a cover band. After arriving
back home, the Dead Peasants reconvened and spent months rehearsing before playing shows all through spring and summer 2012. Wanting to capture the spirit of these performances, the band headed into Studio 606 in Los Angeles to track a selection of Shiflett's favorites from their live set. Nude Beach IIGrowing up in the bucolic waterfront village of Northport, NY, Chuck Betz, Ryan Naideau and Jimmy Shelton played punk rock together since high school, in a succession of bands more than happy to set up at any house party, BBQ or makeshift venue that would have them. The familiar strain of classic rock is the go-to sound on the North Shore of Long Island, but they lived in an alternate universe where Ryan convinced his parents to let him turn the family basement into an occasional all-ages show space, hosting touring groups, and rounding out the bill with whatever band he and his friends were in at the time.
Fast forward to 2008, the boys had based themselves in Brooklyn and Nude Beach was born; the group slowly integrated themselves into the local DIY community, performing in dive bars and warehouse lofts, often several times a week, playing more than 100 shows in less than four years together. They self-released cassettes and vinyl LPs, they booked their own tours, and played in infinite side-projects and spin-off bands at every punk venue in North Brooklyn and beyond.
But while Nude Beach is very much a part of the Brooklyn DIY scene, it's always been more in spirit than in sound; sure, they're as beer-soaked, overdriven and raw as any group around, yet as hard as they've tried to ignore it, the trio could never quite shake the rock & roll of Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen which sound-tracked their Long Island youth, and battered vinyl from the Byrds, the Replacements and the Jam sits side by side in their record collections with the hardcore and indie LPs and 7"s that brought the friends together in the first place.
In an increasingly fractured music scene, Chuck, Ryan and Jimmy play against fashion and deliver straight up rock & roll, and moreover, they do it better than anyone has in a long time. They've got the songs, they've got the sound, and they've got the fuck-all attitude that just can't be faked. Nude Beach will rock you if you let them. Turns out it's still more fun than just about anything else going on. Just check out their most recent full-length, II, if you don't believe us!1. Radio

MelophobiaCage The Elephant's highly anticipated forthcoming third studio album, entitled 'Melophobia', is released via RCA Records. The album was recorded in Nashville, TN and reunites the band with producer Jay Joyce who produced the group's prior two releases.
This album has tested us as individuals and as a collective. We're five people fighting for our own ideologies of good music - we clash stylistically and sometimes even personally, said drummer Jared Champion. The studio is the place where we push all of those individual creative emotions together and smash them to the dispersion point until they explode like a Timebomb. With the explosion arrives something beautiful and in the end, when you listen back and goose bumps prick your skin like the first few drops of a summer rainfall on searing concrete, you know that you and your band of brothers have created something substantial. Conquering our melophobia is what drives us.
The new album is the follow up to 2011's acclaimed sophomore album Thank You Happy Birthday, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and has sold over 250,000 copies to date. Rolling Stone, New York Times, LA Times, USA Today, and Entertainment Weekly praised the release as one of the best rock albums of the year. The album also spawned the hit single Shake Me Down which spent six weeks at #1 at Alternative radio. Their acclaimed self-titled debut album was released in 2009 and has sold over 550,000 copies to date. The album remained on the Billboard 200 Chart for an astounding 73 consecutive weeks and produced three Top 5 singles at Alternative Radio, including the massive hit Ain't No Rest For The Wicked. In additional to numerous Sold Out headline runs, Cage The Elephant has toured with Black Keys, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Muse, Stone Temple Pilots, Foals, Silversun Pickups, Manchester Orchestra, and many more.

ReflectionReflection is the latest work in a long series. It started (as far as record releases are concerned) with Discreet Music in 1975 ( - or did it start with the first Fripp and Eno album in 1973? Or did it start with the first original piece of music I ever made, at Ipswich Art School in 1965 - recordings of a metal lampshade slowed down to half and quarter speed, all overlaid?)
Anyway, it's the music that I later called 'Ambient'. I don't think I understand what that term stands for anymore - it seems to have swollen to accommodate some quite unexpected bedfellows - but I still use it to distinguish it from pieces of music that have fixed duration and rhythmically connected, locked together elements.
The pedigree of this piece includes Thursday Afternoon, Neroli (whose subtitle is Thinking Music IV) and LUX. I've made a lot of thinking music, but most of it I've kept for myself. Now I notice that people are using some of those earlier records in the way that I use them - as provocative spaces for thinking - so I feel more inclined to make them public.
Pieces like this have another name: they're GENERATIVE. By that I mean they make themselves. My job as a composer is to set in place a group of sounds and phrases, and then some rules which decide what happens to them. I then set the whole system playing and see what it does, adjusting the sounds and the phrases and the rules until I get something I'm happy with. Because those rules are probabilistic ( - often taking the form 'perform operation x, y percent of the time') the piece unfolds differently every time it is activated. What you have here is a recording of one of those unfoldings.1. Reflection$24.99Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed Buy Now

Already the first bars foreshadow its potential, the music is reproduced with enormous clarity.- Hifi & Records
Since Lehmannaudio turned the "emergency exit" of classic hi-fi amplifiers into a gate to a new musical perception with their Linear back in 2004, headphone outputs with frustrating sound have become a thing of the past. Now the Linear D shows that things can even get better: the Linear's multi-award-winning analogue section has been upgraded with a high-resolution digital-analogue converter of the latest generation.
Comfort and performance
The Linear D is the perfect complement to streamers and CD players. It recognises digital signals, automatically selects the optimal input and needs no input selector. The Sabre DAC from ESS on the quad-layer circuit board, which has been optimised against HF interference, offers both digital S/PDIF and Toslink inputs.
Low-loss mica capacitors on the mainboard and in the converter analogue filter as well as ultra fast amplifier stages on the converter board guarantee reference quality. Owing to three settings the Linear D adapts to the most diverse headphone-source combinations, and with one analogue and two digital inputs it also delivers a breathtakingly expressive performance as a preamp on active loudspeakers.
The Linear D makes people happy who want to enjoy music in an intense and pristine way and brings together those who share musical enjoyment: two parallel outputs on the discrete class A solid-state output stages powerfully feed two headphones of equal impedance without compromising the listening experience. SSC absorber feet decouple the Linear D from its base and provide calmness. So the Linear D sounds even more sculptural now: with lush, yet never ostentatious lows, delicate resolution and zero-gravity elegance over the entire frequency range.

ADAD-JAG-5517xSharon Van Etten
Are We ThereFor all the attention that was paid to her 2012 break-through Tramp, Sharon Van Etten is an
artist with a hunger to turn another corner and to delve deeper, writing from a place of honesty
and vulnerability to create a bond with the listener that few contemporary musicians can match.
Compelled by a restless spirit, Van Etten is continuously challenging herself. Now, the result is
Are We There, a self-produced album of exceptional intimacy, sublime generosity, and immense
Most musicians are quite happy to leave the production end of things to someone else. It's
enough to live your music without taking on the role of producer as well. Yet Van Etten knew it
was time to make a record entirely on her terms. The saying goes "fortune favors the bold" and
yet this boldness had to be tempered. For this,Van Etten found a kindred spirit in veteran music
producer Stewart Lerman. Originally working together on Boardwalk Empire, they gently moved
into new roles, rallying around the idea of making a record together in Lerman's studio in New
Jersey. Lerman's studio expertise gave Van Etten the freedom to make Are We There the way she
imagined.Van Etten also enlisted the individual talents of her band, consisting of Heather Woods
Broderick, Doug Keith and Zeke Hutchins, and brought in friends Dave Hartley and Adam
Granduciel from The War on Drugs, Jonathan Meiberg (Shearwater),Jana Hunter(Lower Dens),
Peter Broderick, Mackenzie Scott(Torres), Stuart Bogie, Jacob C. Morris and Mickey Freeze.
It is clear from the opening chords in the first song, Afraid of Nothing, that we are witnessing a
new awareness, a sign of Van Etten in full stride, writing, producing and performing from a place
that seems almost mythical, were it not so touchable and real. Always direct, and never shying
away even from the most personally painful narratives, Van Etten's songwriting continues to
evolve. Many of the songs deal with seemingly impossible decisions, anticipation, and then
resolution. She sings of the nature of desire, memory, of being lost, emptiness, of promises and
loyalty, fear and change, of healing and the true self, violence and sanctuary, waiting, of silence.
The artist who speaks in such a voice is urging us to do something,to take hold and to go deeper.
Living in this way,the questions of life remain alive, as close and steady as breathing. Many of the
ballads of old are as dark as pitch, and people for whom the issues of life and death were as vivid
as flame wrote them. You could turn off the electricity, remove all the instruments and Sharon's
voice and words would remain. They connect her to the mystic stratum which flows just beneath
the everyday, which is rarely acknowledged as the forces of distraction sweep our attention away.1. Afraid of Nothing

Blood And Chocolate
Elvis Costello Blood and Chocolate on Numbered Limited Edition 180g LP from Mobile Fidelity
Emotionally Cathartic Nick Lowe-Produced Set Includes I Want You, I Hope You're Happy Now, and Uncomplicated
Mastered from the Original Master Tapes and Pressed at RTI: Guitar-Driven, Stripped-Down 1986 Album Teems With Stacked Rhythms, Tonalities, Punch, and Tension
Costello at His Most Vicious: Songs Rumble and Storm, Dark Humor and Biting Lyrics Address Tumult, Jealousy, Vindictiveness
Part of Mobile Fidelity's Elvis Costello Reissue Series: Singer-Songwriter's First Eleven Studio Albums Available on Sumptuously Sounding 180g LP
Known in his youth as the angry young man, Elvis Costello waited until 1986 to create the most vicious record of his career. Stripped to the studs and produced by Nick Lowe, Blood and Chocolate seethes with vindictiveness, spite, and rancor. The 11-track effort clatters with raw rock n' roll menace and clangs with darkly humorous intent. Venomous, acerbic, and aggressive, it values rhythm and attack over harmony and melody. A volatile rite of passage on which harsh Telecaster riffs cut like razor blades and Costello spits words as if they were Molotov cocktails tossed at enemies, this is the satisfying sound of emotional catharsis.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI, this collectable edition of Blood and Chocolate joins Mobile Fidelity's acclaimed Costello reissues series in presenting the icon's vital records in rich, dynamic, three-dimensional analog sound. That's never been truer than it is here. Costello and Co. recorded the songs in a large room at London's Olympic Studios while playing at stage volumes, an unconventional approach that nonetheless suited the music's raw feel. Nearly every track was done in three takes or less, with minimal vocal fixes and overdubs added immediately afterward. Such energy, spark, force, and pace thrive on this reissue.
Capturing the decibel-laden atmosphere that heightens the rhythmic pace and elevates the urgency of the deliveries, Mobile Fidelity's 180g LP delivers the band's performances with wall-of-sound hugeness and booming authority. And while this isn't a record where subtlety reigns, listeners can now discern the acoustic guitar strummed by Lowe for the foundation of the savage Uncomplicated as well as the nuanced final bars of the inimitable I Want You on which each member's instrumental track is switched off to bleed into Costello's vocal microphone. Indeed, for all the apparent chaos, Steve Nieve's keyboards even get accurate placement and imaging on this incredible pressing. Then there's the temperament of the songs themselves-perhaps best described by Costello.
The album title and Eamon Singer's crude cover painting reflected some intense and uncertain situations. The record might have well been a blurred polaroid: a smashed-up room, a squashed box of chocolates, some broken glass and a little blood smeared on the wall, wrote the singer in 2002. The album [is] a pissed-off 32-year-old divorce's version of the musical blueprint with which I had begun my recording career with the Attractions. Indeed, the band-on the verge of fraying at the seams and at each other's throats in close confines-pummels twanging chords, beats up on notes, turns up amplifiers, and eyes everything with great suspicion.
Lyrically, Costello has seldom been wittier, sharper, or more malicious. The snarling, tables-turning I Hope You're Happy Now joins Bob Dylan's Positively Fourth Street as among the most lacerating kiss-off tunes ever penned. Similarly sarcastic, Next Time Round lends a pop rave-up air to the album's otherwise dark assault. The bloodletting Crimes of Paris and Poor Napoleon (featuring Pogues singer Cait O'Riordan playing the role of the voice of pity) confront the consequences of traumatic relationships and lustful choices with a savvy intellect. Given the mood and mindset of everyone and everything involved, it's no surprise that Costello and the Attractions wouldn't again work together until eight years later. Saying that Blood and Chocolate was worth the sacrifice is an understatement.

SouvenirBanner Pilot's 4th full length on Fat!
Souvenir displays a touch of Banner Pilot's musical influences like Jawbreaker, Superchunk and early Replacements, but showcases their evolution into a more complex band compositionally. True to their Midwestern pop sensibilities, Souvenir shines with hooks both instant and subtle, melded into sturdy song structures and braided together with Banner Pilot's signature introspective lyrics. Containing twelve well-rounded tunes, Souvenir exhibits a perfect amalgamation of the band's two previous albums, Heart Beats Pacific and Collapser. Bassist and songwriter Nate Ganglehoff details how Souvenir took its shape:
Looking back over the process of making this album, one thing that jumps out at me is how bad the first songs we wrote for it were. They sounded like us, I guess, but more like a half-hearted cover version of us. The same chords and melodies you'd expect, but missing . something. I remember listening to them one evening in the dead of winter while I was outside shoveling snow, bitter winds whipping into my face, slick ice tripping up my feet, and thinking, "I hope every single thing I'm experiencing at this moment is better by the spring."
We could have just shrugged and rolled with them, I guess, but I'm glad we were a little stubborn and kept plugging away, looking for something better. We scrapped what we had, hunkered down over the rest of the winter, spending many hours at our practice space, or in front of our respective computers, tinkering around with new ideas. We didn't overthink anything; we just tried idea after idea after idea until something would stick. And the tunes did start to get better. Not only was it rewarding to start to develop songs that didn't sound like complete horse crap, it was also fun. They started to feel like the songs you get excited to play live, and it reminded me of what's so great about being in a band in the first place.
I'm really happy with how it turned out. I think that in the end we stuck to the things we do well, but varied them a little without messing them up. And I think the attitude of "Let's keep trying to make this better" paid off.1. Modern Shakes

Wake Up AwesomeWake Up Awesome, by C. Spencer Yeh (Burning Star Core), Okkyung Lee, and Lasse
Marhaug (Jazzkamer), is the second chapter of SSTUDIOS (Software Studio Series).
SSTUDIOS is a new venture in the Software Recording Co.'s expanding catalog that invites
artists in the field of electronic music to create collaborative works of quality and vision.
Inspired by the historical intersections of live performance and studio post-production,
Wake Up Awesome is a modern kind of fusion in technique as well as genre. At its core are
three artists highly experienced with both instant and labored composition. Together, they
found the studio generated improvisations were iteratively developed by each on their own.
Passages of real-time improvisation duck and swerve into electro-concrete tangles of
samples, edits and juxtaposition - all you'd want out of a world of mechanical possibility. If
it sounds intentional on the record, it was. If Yeh and Marhaug's more electronic affinities
in their respective practices place them as the producers, then Lee's cello often leads the
drive as a sort of soloist.
The resulting conversation is genuinely both serious and iconoclastic. All three artists have
a history of dialogue, but this is the first time they've hung out for the record -- we're
very happy that they did.1. Wake Up Awesome
