HeroSinger/songwriter Maren Morris is set to release, HERO, the Texas native's first major label full length album. Morris co-wrote the songs that make-up HERO and shared the producing duties along with songwriter/producer busbee, who co-wrote "My Church" the debut hit song by Morris which made Country radio history the first week it hit the airwaves setting the record for the most first week stations at the single impact date for the Billboard Country Airplay chart and Country Aircheck's Mediabase Chart with 107 first week Country radio chart reporting stations spinning the song. The previous record for a debut single was 99.
In addition to "My Church," out of the 11 tracks that comprise HERO is the widely-loved fan favorite "80's Mercedes," steamy "How It's Done," the album closer "Once" which highlights the singer/songwriter's vocal talent and "I Wish I Was" which inspired Morris to name the album HERO.
"'I Wish I Was' is the most autobiographical song on this record and I admittedly was not the hero in that story, but I am the hero in mine. I've come such a long way from who I was in Texas, who I am as a writer, who I am as a woman today. I think the message of this record is self acceptance and awareness, and that to me is heroic."
Morris has already been described as a "one woman southern gospel choir" [Storme Warren, SiriusXM's The Highway] and as 2016 began she appeared on multiple "Watch Lists" including USA Today (5 Musicians To Watch Out For in 2016), SiriusXM (Artists to Watch in 2016), Huffington Post (#1 on their Country Artist's to Watch in 2016), Boston Globe (16 Artists To Look Forward to Hearing in 2016) and Billboard, where Morris was featured as one of seven artists across all genres in the January 16 "Predictions Issue."1. HeroesWhat can we do when our band's previous album is career-defining classic and one of our home country's most successful heavy metal albums ever? This was the million dollar question that members of Sabaton - Swedish heavy metal heroes, who have dominated European the heavy metal circuit already for years and received prestigious awards including Metal Hammer UK's Golden Gods Award for Best Breakthrough Artist - had to ask themselves after successful world tour promoting their sixth and platinum selling album Carolus Rex (2012).
During this gigantic tour, heavy metal's most enthusiastic fan legions saw Sabaton playing huge stadiums with Iron Maiden - but also on their own as Sabaton performed their biggest show ever in Polish Przystanek Woodstock Festival in front of more than half a million fans and the show was - of course - filmed and later immortalized on massive Swedish Empire Live DVD/Blu-ray. After saying this, do we need to point out that Sabaton are nothing but superstars in Poland and the members of the band have been adopted as Polish honorary citizens?
Well, anyway, let's get back to that million dollar question.
After months of intense working (recording, producing and mixing) in famous Abyss-studios, the apparent answer is finally here and it is called Heroes. Well, first of all: what could be more suitable title for Sabaton's seventh full-length studio recording? There probably isn't one.
Where Carolus Rex album took a sidestep and told famous story of Swedish Empire during 1561-1721, Heroes is once again a concept record based on different historical, 20th century wars and battles, telling fascinating stories about heroic men and women on their dangerous missions on battlefields and other belligerent locations, such as Auschwitz. Well, talking about real heroes - how could anyone be braver than Polish soldier Witold Pilecki aka Inmate 4859, who voluntarily entered concentration camp Auschwitz as he wanted to get evidence of the horrors and mass murders that were taking place inside the district of doom?
Music-wise, Heroes, which will be released in May by world's most powerful heavy metal label Nuclear Blast Records, will strike metal scene like a fighter aircraft from the clear sky. After serving some ultra-catchy, more traditional Sabaton epics (f.e. No Bullets Fly and Soldier Of 3 Armies), this Falun-quintet dives into more unprecedented territory with songs such as powerful The Ballad Of Bull, Western-movie themed To Hell And Back and guitar-driven Resist And Bite - the latter one being some of the most up-to-date performances on the endlessly vibrant album.
As a whole, Heroes serves compelling mixture of epic metal anthems, carried out by ultra-powerful guitar riffs, pounding drums, catchy choruses, rough-meets-melody kind of vocals and incomparable solos - not forgetting totally new level of intensity and bombastic sound quality, thanks to a world-famous producer and Sabaton's long-time guardian angel Peter TÄgtgren. Heroes definitely introduces Sabaton more varied and dynamically wider than ever before, but at the same time, fresh-sounding new record still possess every imaginable element that you may expect from these heroic northmen.
After hearing Heroes, it's definitely not exaggerating to inform that Sabaton has taken some mighty steps after the band's core musicians - vocalist/composer Joakim BrodÉn and bassist/manager PÄr Sundström - were joined by totally new blood (guitarists Chris Rörland and Thobbe Englund and drummer Hannes van Dahl) after career-defining Carolus Rex was recorded during 2011/2012. If you ever had any doubts regarding new line-up's abilities, Heroes will blast your suspicions to outer space if not further.

Unsung HeroesTitled `Unsung Heroes' and produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Sentenced, Apocalyptica, etc.), this is the hour-plus follow-up to 2009's `From Afar', and sees the Finnish five-piece, founded in 1995, pushing their signature sound to bold new heights of drama and excess. A cinematic experience from first note to last, `Unsung Heroes' takes the listener on a journey of genuine light & shade, with the 16 minute-plus `Passion Proof Power' showing that when it comes to the epic statement, Ensiferum are very much in the front-line, swords at the ready. 'We've tried to push the different aspects of what we do as far as we can,' reflects the band, 'the sonic scope is wider than ever. The folk elements go further down that path and the metallic parts will absolutely rip your face off!' Once again, album art has been supplied by Kristian Wahlin, with featured special guests including members of Apokalyptischen Reiter plus legendary Finnish singer & actor, Vesa-Matti Loiri.1. Symbols

Wayfaring Strangers: Lonesome HeroesThe standard route for popular music, songwriter to publisher to label to artist, survived the '60s only to be overrun by a generation of folkies agog at giants strumming in the rearview. They were inspired by iconoclasts from Charley Patton to Woody Guthrie, artists entirely reliant on one guitar, one voice, and ones own words. But our heroes were not the agrarian luddites of yesterfolk. They cheered when Dylan plugged in and were rapt when Lennon and McCartney modernized songcraft, making the studio process justas important to song creation as setting the chords and words down.
The resultant work wasnt as readily reduced to words on paper as the Broadside pages that preceded them, success relied heavily on the way these songs were captured and transmitted: the sound of the room, the turn of a phrase, the odd way a piano got miced, or the way a guitar fell perfectly out of tune. As long as the end result was somber, dark, and meditative, it didnt matter if it was a conscious choice or a happily unhappy accident.
Each of our lonesome heroes began his journey from a wildly divergent place. Some of the stops may been similar, but each was made in different ways at different times for different reasons. All these travelers somehow found their ultimate destination on this disc. From artists who never played one professional gig to those that never stopped playing professionally, whose only shared experience is a journey set upon with no known end, sharing their thoughts, emotions and dreams with a lonely few along the way.
Wayfaring Stranger: Lonesome Heroes is the male singer/songwriter companion to Numero 008, Wayfaring Strangers: Ladies From The Canyon and Numero 018, Wayfaring Strangers: Guitar Soli.
Features 17 rare tracks by folk unknowns Jim Schoenfeld, Jim Ransom, Richard Smyrnios, Tucker Zimmermann, Kieran White, Les Moore, Rob Carr, Jack Hardy, George Cromarty, Jay Bolotin, Tony Trosley, Roger Lewis, Tim Ward, David Kaufmann, John Villemonte, Bob Brown and Robb Kunkel.

Honky Tonk HeroesAccording to legend, it was at Willie Nelson's Fourth of July picnic when Waylon Jennings drunkenly promised a nobody named Billy Joe Shaver that he'd record a whole album of his songs. Apparently it wasn't until Shaver threatened physical violence on Jennings (in front of a Nashville studio full of people) that he finally made good on his promise, although Jennings had only recently been granted full artistic control by RCA. The result was a stunning achievement: 1973's Honky Tonk Heroes was the defining record of the anti-Nashville Outlaw movement--the term came after the album--and a cornerstone in country music history. Featuring bare-bones production and plainspoken, hard-nosed lyrics that celebrated personal freedoms and simple pleasures, the record was a far cry from the demure Nashville Sound. In each other, Jennings and Shaver had found a kindred spirit, and together they rewrote the country rulebook. - Marc Greilsamer1. Honky Tonk Heroes

UNIM-ATO-2518xHurray For The Riff Raff
Small Town HeroesIn 2014, Hurray for the Riff Raff release 'Small Town Heroes,' its debut for ATO Records. The album finds frontwoman Alynda Lee Segarra -
who settled in New Orleans after leaving her native Bronx at age 17.
Produced by Segarra and engineered by Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes), 'Small Town Heroes' features twelve new, original songs all written or cowritten
by Segarra, with support from a vivid cast of Crescent City musicians.
NPR has said that Hurray for the Riff Raff sweeps across eras and genres with grace and grit," never more so than on 'Small Town Heroes.' On the
hedonist country lament "I Know It's Wrong (But That's Alright)" Segarra sings to a forbidden love "I'll feed you watermelon off the vine," while on "The
Body Electric she exposes the misogyny of the traditional murder ballad, and warns Delia's gone, but I'm settling the score.
Ultimately though, many of the songs embody that most magical and fated of American cities, New Orleans. Segarra bears witness to a wave of violence
that struck the St. Roch neighborhood in St. Roch Blues; yearns for a night at BJ's Bar in the Bywater in Crash on the Highway; and sings of her own
Lower Ninth Ward home in End of the Line.
'Small Town Heroes' follows Hurray for the Riff Raff's self-released 2012 album 'Look Out Mama,' which led to a performance at the Newport Folk
Festival, and praise from Mojo, which compared Segarra to "a soulful, young Loretta Lynn," and The New York Times which hailed the group as part of
the loosely cohered movement of younger musicians embracing and reframing American roots music, giving it a polish of currency but otherwise leaving
its bones intact.1. Blue Ridge Mountain

City Of HeroesFrontiers Music Srl has announced the release of the anticipated new album from Kiske / Somerville, entitled City Of Heroes.
Kiske / Somerville is the musical collaboration between vocalists Michael Kiske (ex-Helloween, Unisonic, Place Vendome) and Amanda Somerville (Trillium, Avantasia) and this new recording is certainly going to be one of the highlights of the season in rock music. Kiske's soaring overtones seem to blend perfectly with the ethereal quality and diverse range of Amanda's voice and this time the results are truly over the top.
This brilliant new album sees Mat Sinner (Primal Fear, Sinner) and Magnus Karlsson (Starbreaker, Primal Fear) handling most of the songwriting (with a song contribution "Breaking Neptune" from Sander Gommans formerly of After Forever and Amanda Somerville herself) and with Sinner overseeing the production in various recording studios in Europe. Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Primal Fear, Pretty Maids, Doro etc.) then took care of the mix of the album ensuring a sonic quality second to none.1. City Of Heroes

Poets Were My HeroesMorning Glory is made up of the stuff that the gritty, punk-crust motherland of New York's infamous Lower East Side has been known to spawn. This group of punkers and squatters had very humble beginnings indeed. Already in various other New York punk bands, Morning Glory first became the spark of an idea when Ezra Kire (Leftöver Crack, Choking Victim, INDK) took time off from touring and started to write some tunes in his NYC apartment.
In 2001, with nothing but a drum machine and an 8-track reel-to-reel, Ezra wrote and recorded the songs that would become Morning Glory's first LP, This Is No Time ta Sleep. Though it was self-recorded, home-released and had no touring support, it still managed to create a small but ubiquitous underground buzz. With a virtuosic range of musical elements such as ska, punk, metal, and even some rhyming, its catchy, anthemic sing-alongs showcased Ezra's flourishing writing talents. And while his lyrics stayed true to the caustic political edge of his other bands, the overall message remained more optimistic and leaned towards the humanistic, personal side of life.
In 2002, Ezra finally assembled a live band, handpicking musicians from the local NYC punk scene, including members of Nausea, World/Inferno Friendship Society and Stockyard Stoics. This lineup recorded the EP, The Whole World is Watching, released on Blacknoise Records in 2003. While the years that followed were spent recording and touring with Leftöver Crack, Morning Glory took a back seat.
But after these long years of touring, Ezra finally decided to give Morning Glory the attention it deserved in 2010 and began writing songs for what was to become the epic new album, Poets Were My Heroes. In the summer of 2011, Ezra and the band (with longtime members Early Gates, "Metal" Chris and Lucky Strano alongside new guitarist Adam Schrager) hit the studio with a barrage of new material. Picture the sonic kaleidoscope of punk noise meeting strings, horns, choirs, pianos and organs over a web of distorted guitars and marching, single kick pedal drums.
These are the sounds that make up Poets Were My Heroes, Morning Glory's Fat Wreck Chords debut and first full-length album recorded with a live band. Re-enlisting producer Jesse Cannon (The Menzingers, Saves the Day), a wealth of material was recorded, with only the very strongest songs being chosen to make up the album. It is both grand and elaborate, with each song evoking a different mood and style, challenging the musicianship of even the most dexterous players, while still maintaining its punk-inspired simplicity.
While the band itself has described themselves as "somewhere between Oasis and The Clash," they continue to break rules and write music that is true only to themselves, adhering to no genres, creeds or political factions. The sing-along choruses give the band a broader appeal than the standard politi-kill punk acts, but the key message is more subversive: "Think for yourself, decide for yourself, make up your own mind and love your friends. Only you know what is right for you. Together we are what we can't be alone." It's this unity in diversity that makes the band special and not just another punk outfit. Silent Reign Of HeroesThis Lynyrd Skynyrd-style, blues rock outfit emerged from the US deep south. The name derived from a tale of a woman in seventeenth-century Salem who beheaded her lovers with an axe after sleeping with them. The initial line-up comprised Dave Hlubek (guitar), Steve Holland (guitar), Duane Roland (guitar), Banner Thomas (bass), Danny Joe Brown (vocals) and Bruce Crump (drums). Their 1978 debut album, produced by Tom Werman (of Cheap Trick and Ted Nugent fame), was an instant success, with its three-pronged guitar onslaught and gut-wrenching vocals. The band then achieved a US Top 20 placing with their second album, Flirtin` With Disaster. Brown was replaced by Jimmy Farrar in 1980, before the recording of the band`s third album, Beatin` The Odds. Farrar`s vocals were less distinctive than Brown`s, and an element of their identity was lost during the time that Farrar fronted the band. Nevertheless, commercial success continued, with both Beatin` The Odds and Take No Prisoners peaking on the Billboard album chart at numbers 25 and 36, respectively. In 1982, Danny Joe Brown rejoined the band in place of the departed Farrar, while Thomas and Crump were replaced by Riff West and B.B. Borden respectively. No Guts ... No Glory emerged and marked a return to the band`s roots: explosive guitar duels, heart-stopping vocals and steadfast rock `n` roll. Surprisingly, the album flopped and Hlubek insisted on a radical change in direction. Steve Holland quit and drummer Crump returned, while keyboard player John Galvin (from the Danny Joe Brown Band) was recruited for the recording of The Deed Is Done. This was a lightweight pop rock album, largely devoid of Molly Hatchet`s former trademarks. Following its release, the band retired temporarily to lick their wounds and reassess their future. In 1985, Double Trouble Live was unveiled, with a return to former styles. It included versions of their best-known songs, plus a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute in the form of `Freebird`. Founder member Dave Hlubek subsequently departed, to be replaced by Bobby Ingram. The band signed a new recording contract with Capitol Records and returned with 1989`s Lightning Strikes Twice. This leaned away from their southern roots towards highly polished AOR. Featuring cover versions of Paul Stanley`s `Hide Your Heart` and `There Goes The Neighborhood`, the album was poorly received by fans and critics alike. A number of line-up changes ensued in the early 90s, leaving Brown as the only remaining original member. During this period he was continually plagued by illness as a result of diabetes. and eventually left Molly Hatchet in 1996 as they embarked on another recording comeback. The line-up that recorded Devil`s Canyon comprised Bobby Ingram, John Galvin, Phil McCormack (vocals), Bryan Bassett (guitar), Andy McKinney (bass) and Mac Crawford (drums). The revived band, with additional keyboard player Tim Donovan, then completed 1998`s Silent Reign Of Heroes. Further line-up changes saw mainstays Ingram, Galvin and McCormack joined by a regularly rotating cast list of musicians, as the band continued to tour and record with great success. Original guitarist Hlubek rejoined the line-up in early 2005 shortly before his former colleague Danny Joe Brown succumbed to diabetes.

producer Rob Giles (The Rescues) to form Circa Zero a band poised to blow people away with its unique brand of rock and roll intensity.
Taking full advantage of an immediate musical chemistry, Circa Zero recorded their debut album Circus Hero at Summers studio Bowl of Cherries in

Fresh off The Police reunion tour, Summers was intent on remaining in the rock world after years of pushing the boundaries with his solo projects. The

Rob Giles performing with his band The Rescues at the Troubadour. Circa Zero is an exciting new chapter for both of them the name referring to both

Sarah Neufeld is a violinist and composer based in MontrÉal, Canada. Best known as a member of Arcade Fire, she is also a founding member of the acclaimed contemporary instrumental ensemble Bell Orchestre and has performed and recorded with many other groups, including The Luyas, Esmerine and Little Scream.
Neufeld began developing pieces for solo violin in a more formal and focused sense in 2011, though she has made improvisation and solo composition part of her process and practice since first picking up the instrument at a young age. Neufeld counts Bela Bartok, Steve Reich, Iva Bittova and Arthur Russell among the formative influences for her solo work, in tandem with an ear for the textures and sensibilities of contemporary electro-acoustic, avant-folk and indie rock music.
Neufeld's debut solo album Hero Brother indeed channels all of the above, flowing through shifting atmospheres and oscillating between restrained, stately ambience, emotive Études, and raw kinetic energy. Small touches of wordless vocalisation, harmonium and piano supplant the violin in a few places. The album was recorded in Berlin by pianist and producer Nils Frahm, with Neufeld's performances captured in a number of locations with site-specific acoustics, including an abandoned geodesic dome, an underground parking garage, and the legendary Studio P4 orchestral recording hall at the broadcast complex of the former GDR.1. CZARFACE - Wu-Tang founding MC Inspectah Deck and veteran Boston duo 7L & Esoteric - isn't concerned
with the glitz and the B.S. that modern consumer culture is pushing. And neither are the group's fans.
In 2013, the trio appeared relatively unassumingly with their self-titled debut, which was chiefly produced by DJ 7L and included guests ranging from Ghostface Killah and Cappadonna to Vinnie Paz, Action Bronson and Roc Marciano. The soon-to-be acclaimed group found out quickly that there was a groundswell of hip-hop fanatics thirsting for the lunchpail, lyrics-above-all-else rap they fell in love with in the '90s. Several pressings of the album on CD, 2-LP and even cassette later, they are back and ready to up the ante.
This time around the group is the same, but it's fair to say that all three men have stepped up their game. "We knew how we felt about the last album, but weren't sure how it would be received by listeners," explains MC Esoteric. "But people really responded to it, even more than we had hoped. That gave us the confidence to really spread our wings and let loose on this one. The chemistry is even tighter this time around. We know exactly what lanes we are cruising in and what weight class we are fighting in for Round 2."
Inspectah Deck adds, "Czarface is like the Danger Room for the X-Men, I can use all my weapons on there. When I'm in Wu-Tang, I have to come a certain way because we have a certain style of fan, when I'm here doing the Czarface projects, it allows me to actually be an MC, it allows me to actually just spit...I love that. I love when i can just spit freely and just be an MC."
The fighting analogy - whether drawn from pugilism or '80s wrestling, both which figure into Every Hero Needs A Villain - is an apt one, considering the unrelenting lyrical attacks that Deck and Esoteric unleash on track after track, each trying to one-up the previous verse.
Best of all, it is friendly camaraderie, based around a loose theme of renegade mutant MC talents running wild. DJ 7L explains, "All three of us are influenced by comics, sci-fi movies, TV, wrestling. Czarface encompasses all of that, and it helps with the visuals as well."
On the production side, 7L shows yet again - as he did with the group's debut - that he remains a formidable yet underappreciated musical force, constantly providing hard, funky and alternatingly ominous backdrops for the assembled MCs to use as lyrical luge paths.
If that wasn't enough, the double LP comes packaged with "Death & Abduction," a comic written by Esoteric, and has an explosive, comic-book-inspired cover by L'amour Supreme (Mishka NYC).LP1

ADAD-MER-4514xArchers Of Loaf
White Trash HeroeColored Vinyl
Merge is proud to reissue All the Nations Airports and White Trash Heroes, the final two albums from Archers of Loaf. Both albums have been remastered by Bob Weston and feature re-imagined cover art, new liner notes and copious bonus material. Each album is presented on colored vinyl!
Archers of Loaf almost called it quits after All the Nations Airports due to the strain of touring and the rut of the album cycle (i.e., make record, make video, do interviews, tour, tour, tour; repeat) but decided they would make one more album and see how they felt after that process. They again enlisted the help of Brian Paulson to record the album that became White Trash Heroes.
On this album the band added keyboards to several songs as well as vocoder, and debuted the lead vocals of Matt Gentling on the track I.N.S. Banging on a Dead Drum found all the members swapping instruments and some of the worst cowbell ever attempted. The band pulled out all the stops to keep its members engaged, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough and the band decided to make the fall tour of 1998 its final outing.
In the liner notes for Merge's reissue of the Archers' final album, Josh Modell says, "In hindsight, it's easy to read White Trash Heroes as both the stormy end to a legendary band and as the beginning of something else: Bachmann's next project, Crooked Fingers. Hints of what came two years later abound here, particularly on the keyboard undercarriage and restrained energy of 'Dead Red Eyes' and the epic, sequencer-assisted title track. That eight-minute song feels like a transitional sigh, and an acknowledgement that a certain period, let's call it "indie-rock's golden age," because that might drive the Archers nuts, had passed. To paraphrase: They were out of luck, because nobody gave a fuck."
LPs are limited edition and pressed on colored vinyl housed in gatefold jacket with printed Euro sleeve.

What It Is To Burn - X LiveFormed in Temecula, CA
in 1999, the quintet of Nate
Barcalow, Alex Linares, Randy
Strohmeyer, Alex Pappas
and Derrek Doherty known
as Finch, are labeled as the
fore-fathers of the "screamo"
and post hardcore genre. Influenced by the hard leanings
of bands like Deftones and
Hum, and the pop sensibilities of Jimmy Eat World and
Blink-182, Finch began a sonic
revolution in popular music
that still echoes today.
The band signed to Drive-Thru
Records in 2001 after guitarist Strohmeyer sent out a demo to owners Richard and Stephanie Reines while he was working on the label's street team.
Drive-Thru saw something in the Southern California band and decided
to take a risk on a sound that was more aggressive than their current range
of artists. Their first EP, Falling into Place sold more than 6,000 copies
within the first few months and gave them the momentum they needed to
create their groundbreaking first album What It Is To Burn. Recorded in
the winter of 2001, What It Is To Burn was released the following spring.
The album produced three radio hits, charted Number 1 on the Billboard
Heatseekers chart and 188 on the Billboard 200.
They spent years touring in support of What It Is To Burn, sharing
the stage with the likes of Glassjaw, The Starting Line, Yellowcard, and
Blink-182, among others. In 2005, they decided it was time for a follow up,
and went in a more artsy direction with Say Hello To Sunshine. Drummer
Alex Pappas left the band and was replaced by Marc Allen. After years of
heavy touring, the band went on a short hiatus, rejoining one another in
2007 with new bassist Daniel Wonacott to record their self-titled EP. Critics
hailed the EP as a return to glory while still adding to their old sound.
Finch would tour off the release for a few years until deciding on another
break in 2009.
In 2013, Finch reunited to its nearly original lineup and announced that
they would embark on the What It Is To Burn Ten Year Anniversary
tour. The group performed the full-length in its entirety with a few extra
bonuses for fans along the way. One concert in particular in Pomona, CA
was filmed and recorded and will be released via Tragic Hero Records. With no bad blood and everything firing on all fronts, it's hard to
tell what will come next for Finch, but one thing remains certain: all eyes
are watching to find out.1. New Beginnings
