    High As Hope

Six-time Grammy-nominee Florence + the Machine are set to release their highly-anticipated new album 'High As Hope' via Virgin EMI / Republic Records. 'High As Hope' is the sound of an artist who appears more certain than ever of herself. Florence writes about her teens and twenties with a renewed, more mature perspective: of growing up in South London, of family, relationships and art itself.

    High Hopes

High Hopes' finds Bruce Springsteen in a number of different musical settings, and includes the E Street Band members in various large and small combinations as well as guitarist Tom Morello on eight tracks. Besides Morello, the album also includes appearances on several songs by Clarence Clemons, who passed away in 2011, and Danny Federici, who passed away in 2008, on what Springsteen calls some of our best unreleased material from the past decade. The album was recorded in New Jersey, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Australia and New York City and marks Springsteen's 18th studio album. As Bruce writes in the albums liner notes, I felt they were among the best of my writing and deserved a proper studio recording.

...The high-quality original mix plus Analogue Productions' superb mastering has resulted in a terrific, very transparent sonic with great impact. - John Henry, Audiophile Audition

The Analogue Productions reissue of Hugh Masekela's masterpiece Hope, now available on 33 1/3 LP. Mastering from Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio; 200-gram knock-your-socks-off silent heavyweight vinyl plated and pressed by Quality Record Pressings. The ultimate.

A longtime audiophile demonstration disc. Hope will show off your system's dynamic range as well as any record ever released. Hugh Masekela, the outstanding South African trumpeter, assembled a seven-piece group and recorded this great set live at Washington, D.C.'s Blues Alley. The songs stretch over a period of nearly five decades and serve as an informal guided tour of Masekela's life. The songs are honest and bare, and as for the sound - WOW!

LETTER CONCERNING THE RECORD 'IV' AND A POST SCRIPT TO FANS

A lot can happen in twelve years. It is beyond probable (if not brutally unavoidable) that such a period of time could render a man nearly unrecognizable to his older self. I would not categorize the young man who made three records under the pen name 'Darling' (incidentally, me) as unrecognizable, but I can say perhaps that we are vaguely disassociated. Those 3 albums, written between 1999 and 2005 and recorded anywhere except a recording studio (the bulk being tracked in my bedroom and parents' garage) follow the exceedingly lonesome course of a kid barely out of high school through a shaky introduction to manhood. They were recorded alone (with cheap microphones) composed alone (with expensive sentimentality), defined by loving befuddlement, and darkened by an all-consuming breakup. I look at them now with an appreciation for where I was, with no small measure of gratitude that I am no longer there. What has not changed however, is that there are still songs that come along which make sense in my mind as fitting only on a 'Darling' record. Truthfully, in the decade-plus that has passed since I last released a solo piece, there have been many songs of this nature. Consequently I have written, designed, edited, and put this record out many times in my mind. Inevitably, however, life would change and the conceptual direction would change with it. It is changing now as I write this. But after twelve birthdays, twelve New Year's Eve's, and twelve winters, I have a portrait I am compelled to commit to the canon of self-portraits.

I am no longer the kid with all that worry, that blaring hurt and rum-fueled uncertainty. I am somewhere else now. But I still sit in my bedroom, quietly following songs where they take me, using them to process what is happening in my life. I have often declared to myself, that I would not leave the 'Darling' moniker forever tied to what I now regard as a time of young (albeit sincere) melancholy. And while this fourth installment is by no means an offering of pure and bright optimism, it is a statement less heavy with heartache, and hopefully a bit more even-keeled in its manner - whatever the emotional narrative. More importantly, it is a honest glimpse into my story alone and a faithful rendition of what I believe to be a notable chapter.

For those interested in the Darling project:

To say that activity of one form or another relating to my solo work is infrequent would be a bit of an understatement. In truth, as time goes, I am thankfully occupied primarily by the joys of my family and the pleasure of making music with my brother and some of my dearest friends. When, however, there are endeavors of the Darling variety on the horizon, I would be honored to let anyone interested know about it. If you count yourself among this set, please feel free to share your email address below. I can say, as someone who religiously declines giving my email out when a cashier asks for it, and as someone who somehow spends more time unsubscribing from email lists than answering emails, I will ONLY pass the word along when there is a word to pass meaning something significant like an upcoming album or confirmed performance(s). Once again, I realize that giving any part of your contact information out is a significant action, and I believe it should be seen as such. In other words, I won't be arranging for emails to go out about anything but relevant 'Darling' news. As always, thank you for your time and care.

    Sincerely,

    Timothy Seth Avett

    Black Beauty

    28-page, full-color book (11" x 11")

Extensive essay by Ben Edmonds (Creem, Rolling Stone, Mojo) featuring all-new interviews

Abundant, never-before-seen photographs by Herbert Worthington (Fleetwood Mac's Rumours)

Brilliantly mastered by multi-GRAMMY® nominee Dan Hersch (Paul Simon, Kinks, Cars,The Band)

Mastered for vinyl by multi-GRAMMY® winner Doug Sax (The Who, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd)

Black Beauty, the never-before-released masterpiece by Arthur Lee's legendary psychedelic rock band Love, is available on 180-gram vinyl LP. Recorded in 1973 for the ambitious new label Buffalo Records,
the album remained unreleased when the company folded. Finally, after 39 years High Moon Records is honored to fulfill Arthur Lee's wish that Black Beauty be heard by music fans worldwide. Black Beauty is making its first-ever official release
in any format, anywhere! With unparalelled sound and state-of-the-art packaging, critics are hailing Black Beauty as an instant classic. Black Beauty is that rarest of rock artifacts: an unreleased,
full-length studio album, from an undisputed musical
genius. Black Beauty is the missing link in a catalog that includes Forever Changes, the classic 1967 Love album the New York Times called "one of the most affecting and beguiling albums of all time. With Black Beauty, Arthur Lee manages to combine searing 70's-rock with gorgeous melodies and stellar songwriting - topped off by his most distinctive, snarling, soulful vocals ever. With its wonderfully eclectic collection of songs, the
album offers Love fans a rare glimpse into a previously undocumented phase of Arthur Lee's fabled career, while shining a light for new fans to discover the unique genius that is the music of Arthur Lee and Love.

It's tempting to play what-if with Love's lost labor, Black Beauty, which was recorded in 1973 but shelved for nearly four decades. What if Buffalo Records hadn't gone out of business just prior to the album's release? What if Black Beauty had actually hit stores? What if it hadn't languished in limbo until years after Arthur Lee's death? Would it have stopped Love's slide into obscurity? Would it have signaled a comeback for the man who masterminded Forever Changes, still one of the most complex and compelling artifacts of 1960s Los Angeles? Would his life and career have played out any differently? Would we think of him today as something other than a cult artist, inspired as well as damned by his era?

It's difficult to imagine any answers to those questions, but it says a lot about Lee that the album even raises these what-ifs and coulda-beens. The very qualities that made him such a fascinating voice-- restlessness, excitability, paranoia, perfectionism, single-mindedness-- may have doomed any commercial prospects more than his notorious fear of travel ever did. After recording Forever Changes, he fired the band and hired new musicians to take their places. Every subsequent album featured a different line-up, although the changes seem based more on personality than on musical direction or ability. Never stagnant, Love was in constant flux, always in a state of development but never quite arriving. So the operative question becomes: Was this the version of Love that Lee had been working toward?

For Black Beauty-- which is finally seeing release via High Moon Records, although the reissue has been delayed for two years-- Lee assembled guitarist Melvan Whittington, bass player Robert Rozelle, and drummer Joe Blocker. This may be the hardiest and most muscular of Love's post-Changes rosters, with remarkable force and range. With crisp production by Paul Rothchild, best known for his work with the Doors, Love build from a potent blues rock foundation not dissimilar to that of Jimi Hendrix, but without the distracting shamanistic persona and guitar pyrotechnics. "Walk Right In" struts into country rock territory, rewriting Cannon's Jug Stompers 1929 hit into a plea for empathy, and "Beep Beep" attempts a sort of pop reggae, albeit not entirely convincingly.

On the whole, this particular line-up sounds perfectly rough and unrehearsed, generating a tense energy on "Skid" and "Stay Away" even as they suggest a band still figuring out exactly what they can do together. It's a strong album, but it's not another Forever Changes, whose accomplishments in retrospect were unrepeatable, or even another Four Sail. On the other hand, Lee wasn't aiming to craft something in that vein. Still, especially considering the professional setbacks he had faced in the years leading up to Black Beauty-- which includes being dropped by Elektra and shuffling through a series of independent labels-- Lee sounds engaged and invigorated, forgoing the bitterness that had rankled the band for a slightly more hopeful outlook. On stand-out "Can't Find It", he sings, "Every time I cry my heart out, and every time I play the fool, but there's gotta be something in this lonely world for me." The confession is all the more bittersweet for being capped with the line, "but I can't find it without you." It's ostensibly a love song, but could just as easily be addressed to his audience. His creative satisfaction relies on having a listener to complete the circuit, which makes this album's long shelf life all the sadder.

    Far

Far is the highly anticipated follow-up to Regina Spektor's gold album Begin to Hope. Far continues to reveal new layers in Spektor's songwriting as she pursues the next level in her inimitable musical style. With her uninhibited imagination and her hands-on approach in the studio, Far not only succeeds with 13 impressive and accessible tracks, but it spotlights Spektor's remarkable gift to craft intelligent and refreshingly honest odes to life. Four exceptional producers collaborated with Spektor on Far: Jeff Lynne (ELO, The Traveling Wilburys), Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Eminem), David Kahne (Paul McCartney, The Strokes) and Garret Jacknife Lee (Weezer, R.E.M.).

Spektor's ability to explore rich soundscapes and combine them with her evocative and intricately structured melodies and lyrics has grown tremendously on Far. From the gripping lyrics of the first single, Laughing With to the intoxicating beat of The Calculation, from the multi-layered vocal work on Blue Lips to the rocking Eet, Far is the work of a talented, daring and important artist.

Captivating audiences with songs that are distinctively her own, Begin to Hope allowed Spektor to go from hypnotizing small crowds to selling out 3,000 capacity venues worldwide with what Rolling Stone praised as one of the most intensely joyful rock shows we've seen. Begin to Hope also spent five weeks in a row at #1 on the Billboard new artists chart before moving to #20 on the Billboard Top 100 and one million copies worldwide (gold or platinum in seven countries).

    Design

The Exact shares the same body moulding as the rest of the Rega cartridge range. This is a one piece body and has no energy sapping joints between the stylus mounting and headshell contact face. The headshell face is machined perfectly flat to ensure
maximum contact between cartridge and headshell.

    Coil Winding

Rega have designed and developed its own coil winding machine. This allows us to manufacture coils in a completely new and innovative way. This means approximately one third less wire is used than in our other cartridges, making the Exact even more
    efficient than the Elys.

    Cantilever

The Exact has a highly expensive non removable cantilever, fitted with a "Vital" diamond tip. This tip fits into the record groove more precisely than the usual elliptical type, allowing more information to be gleaned from the records.

    Assembly

Because of the design and extremely high tolerances of Rega cartridges, our assembly methods owe more to watch making than the assembly line. Every one is hand built, and the highly skilled operatives use little more than tweezers and microscopes. Each
cartridge is then adjusted and tested twice over a 24 hour period. Such methods are expensive and time consuming but we feel the results are worth it. We hope you do too!

    Snakes And Arrows

Features Etched Designs on Side D of the Album

    200 Gram Double LP

A return to their former glory days, Snakes and Arrows shows this seminal prog rock band reclaiming their sonic territory. It's not certain what contributed to this artistic rebirth, but Rush has crafted a historical and emotional odyssey that shows many both where they've been and where they're going--from the baroque soundscapes of The Main Monkey Business, reminiscent of their earliest work to the seductive almost folkloric urgency of The Way the Wind Blows, which is as dangerous, anxious, and prophetic as anything that Arcade Fire or Mars Volta is doing currently.

Main Lyricist Neil Peart has spent the last decade getting over the death of his wife and daughter, and those tragic events have given his songwriting more depth and gravity as he explores the strengths and limitations of faith in both metaphoric and literal detail.

While never didactic or ponderous, this disc is really an instruction manual for how one conducts themselves with grace and hope through unendurable pain and the vagaries of life. Gone is much of the shrillness of their earlier incarnations--Geddy Lee's trademark high pitch shrieks have mellowed considerably and Alex Lifesong's guitar playing has an assurance and freedom that can only come with age. --Jaan Uhelszki

Introducing the Rega Osiris flagship integrated amplifier

The Osiris is the culmination of Rega engineers 32 years experience in solid-state amplifier development. A no compromise audio amplifier using state of the art surface mount technology and a fully symmetrical circuit.

    Design

A super high performance, 162 Watts into 8 Ohms (250 Watt 4 Ohms) dual mono amplifier housed in a custom Rega CNC machined aluminium case with high thermal efficiency heat sinks. Designed around minimalist high gain power amplifier and passive pre-amplifier circuit topology, a passive volume control and a single stage of power amplification between the input and the speakers the Osiris offers unrivalled performance and build quality.

    Technology

The Osiris uses a low distortion high linearity and bandwidth common base voltage amplifier driver stage. This type of symmetrical circuit topology will provide the necessary voltage swings to enable the Osiris to drive any speaker system with the minimum of distortion. Eight Sanken 200 Watt output transistors are used in a triple high current output stage enabling the Osiris to drive even the most awkward of speaker systems with ease.

The cascoded differential input amplifier uses two low noise LED referenced current generators. The open & closed loop feedback levels and gain bandwidth product components are optimised to give a tight and controlled sound stage, especially at the low frequency end of the audio range. Nichicon audio grade capacitors are used in bypass and decoupling positions.

Electrolytic capacitors have been bypassed with polyester capacitors where necessary improving on the HF performance. Low inductance film SM power resistors are used in the output stage.

    Power Supply

The Osiris uses two low noise purpose designed 400VA toroidal transformers using high-grade fully bonded core material.

The transformers are mounted to the chassis using Rega's innovative mounting technique, which eliminates noise being transferred from the transformer to the case when the transformers are operating under arduous mains (line) conditions with high levels of asymmetric mains (line) distortion.

These transformers combined with 40,000 Micro Farads of Rega K-Power smoothing capacitors per channel, provide more than enough current to drive the hardest of loads. All the power supplies utilise fast recovery rectifier diodes throughout. (Fast diodes generate less high frequency switching noise therefore giving rise to a cleaner DC).

The input and low-level driver stages are fed from a regulated symmetrical tracking power supply with a low noise voltage reference, which provides a fully stabilised low noise voltage, ensuring the highest level of sonic purity.

All the dedicated audio power supplies feed only the audio circuits. The input switching, display & micro controller and protection circuits have their own dedicated supplies, keeping the audio signal path as pure as possible.

We hope that you enjoy this product as much as we have enjoyed creating it. - Rega

All these features amalgamate to create the supreme level of performance found in the Osiris and provide a perfect partner for the Rega Isis Cd player.

Designed as the ultimate MC phono stage and the perfect match for the Rega Apheta MC cartridge Ios has made the transition in to the reference style case to match Isis and Osiris. The new Ios has the addition of balanced XLR connections mute and mono functions. The PCB layout has been redesigned to improve the noise floor and the entire unit has been fully rewired with ultra low capacitance cabling.

The function of a phono pre amplifier is to match the output from a pick up cartridge to the input of a line level amplifier. It is required to amplify the very low signals produced by the cartridge and also to equalise the sound in accordance with RIAA record cutting standard. Rega believes that moving coil and moving magnet cartridges require different types of phono pre amplifiers to achieve optimum performance. The IOS is therefore dedicated to moving coil cartridges and avoids compromises. We have avoided including any superfluous functions as they obstruct the signal path and degrade the sound quality.

    Design innovation

The Rega Ios is a four stage all symmetrical amplifier. To provide optimum performance it is dedicated to amplifying the very low level signals that are generated by moving coil cartridges.

The first stage uses a 1:10 step-up transformer, which can be optimised to the cartridge by the selection of the correct loading and zobel DC resistance correction network connected across the MC transformer secondary.

The second stage is a symmetrical compound pair class A amplifier, using paralleled low noise Hitachi transistors in the input stage. This drives the passive high frequency part of the RIAA equalisation stage.

The third stage is a symmetrical class A differential amplifier with a common base driver stage; this is also used as the active amplifier in the low frequency part of the RIAA equalisation stage. The fourth stage is the active filter, this configuration uses the same circuit as found in the second stage. The filter element uses a very high bandwidth operational amplifier.

The power supply is a symmetrical discrete tracking power supply using fast diodes and a low noise voltage reference. Each stage has its own localised power supply, and LED referenced current generators. Very high quality, polypropylene capacitors have been used in the signal path. 1% tolerance polypropylene capacitors are used in the RIAA EQ stages and audio grade capacitors are used in the rest of the circuit.

We hope that you enjoy this product as much as we have enjoyed creating it. - Rega

Mahler - Symphony #2 (Speakers Corner)

The search for the extra-musical world in Gustav Mahler's philosophical and programmatic works will doubtless continue to occupy future generations of music scholars. Today's music lovers, however, are wholly satisfied with the highly varied interpretations and impressive sound reproduction - which is precisely what Mahler himself wished for his rugged works. For decades Mahler's dramatic musical masterpieces were misunderstood and scorned as "kapellmeister music". Luckily interest in his works was revived and all nine symphonies were recorded in the 1960s by the recently deceased conductor Sir Georg Solti. Right up to this very day, his cycle has clearly lost nothing of its aura, its reputation for "never having been surpassed" - how could it otherwise have been so successful for so many years in the light of all the highly competitive, more recent recordings?

After the success of the new pressing of Mahler's First Symphony (DECCA SXL 6113), it was high time that the Resurrection-Symphony became available on LP once more. And the result is most impressive. One can only hope that the complete Mahler cycle will one day be resurrected in vinyl.

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

OST Of The Brand New 2016 Movie, Featuring Hailee Steinfeld & Woody Harrelson

Great Tracks By Santigold, Anderson Paak, Two Door Cinema Club, Aimee Mann, Miike Snow, Handsome Poets, Phantogram, Angus & Julia Stone, Birdy A.O.

The Edge of Seventeen is a new coming-of-age movie in the vein of Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club - an honest, candid, often hilarious look at what it's like to grow up as a young woman in today's modern world.

Everyone knows that growing up is hard, and life is no easier for high school junior Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld), who is already at peak awkwardness when her all-star older brother Darian starts dating her best friend Krista. All at once, Nadine feels more alone than ever, until the unexpected friendship of a thoughtful boy gives her a glimmer of hope that things just might not be so terrible after all.

The Edge of Seventeen marks the feature directorial debut of writer-director Kelly Fremon Craig, and is produced by Academy Award® winner James L. Brooks - the filmmaker behind big-screen, character-driven classics such as Terms of Endearment, Broadcast News, Big, Say Anything, The Simpsons, Jerry Maguire and As Good as It Gets.

The film is getting plenty of comparisons to the John Hughes' The Breakfast Club, but it's mostly modern soundtrack helps set it apart from those 80s classics: Santigold's new rollicking Who I Thought You Were, a standout off this year's 99¢, opens the movie and a pivotal party scene is filled with tracks by festival favorites like Two Door Cinema Club and Anderson .Paak.

Furthermore the soundtrack of the film features a hearty and exciting mix of talents as diverse as Aimee Mann, Phantogram, Birdy, Handsome Poets, Miike Snow and others.

Port O'Brien began as the bedroom recording project of Van Pierszalowski and Cambria Goodwin. As the songs grew legs and spread among friends, live performances became inevitable. Sprouting from the isolated coastal village of Cambria, CA, the band collected kindred spirits along the way and blossomed into a full band. The band released All We Could Do Was Sing in the summer of 2008 which captured the life Van and Cambria lived throughout their never-ending summers in Alaska. Van is a commercial fisherman, spending every summer on his father's fishing boat off the coast of Kodiak Island. Cambria is the head baker at the cannery in Larson Bay, supplying pastries, breads, and deserts for the entire seasonal fishing community. They're seasonal lives changed with the release of their first album however and their inspirations shifted from the desolation of Alaska to the experience of seeing the world.

As 2009 began, the band started to prepare songs for what was to become Threadbare. What started as a light-hearted and loose effort quickly turned into a dense, introspective work following the tragic loss of Cambria's younger brother. Recording in friend Jason Quever's living room studio in San Francisco, the songs were given a certain warmth and intimacy that couldn't be achieved in a larger space. The sense of comfort they found gave them the ability to fully realize the weight of the songs. In the Meantime explores the desire for contentment in tumultuous times. High Without Hope bookends the album, illuminating the emotion and sense of loss that was felt throughout the recording process.

Darkness On The Edge Of Town

Ranked 150/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time

Mastered By Bob Ludwig Working Under The Supervision Of Springsteen & Engineer Toby Scott

Coming three years and one extended court battle after Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town was highly anticipated. Some attributed the album's embattled tone to Bruce Springsteen's legal troubles, but it carried on from Born to Run, in which Springsteen had first begun to view his colorful cast of characters as losers. On Darkness, he began to see them as the working class: his characters, some of whom he inhabited and sang for in the first person, had little and were in danger of losing even that. Their only hope for redemption lay in working harder, and their only escape lay in driving. Springsteen presented these hard truths in hard rock settings, the tracks paced by powerful drumming and searing guitar solos. Though not as heavily produced as Born to Run, Darkness was given a full-bodied sound; Springsteen's stories were becoming less heroic, but his musical style remained grand; the sound, and the conviction in his singing, added weight to songs like Racing in the Street and the title track, transforming the pathetic into the tragic. But despite the rock & roll fervor, Darkness was no easy listen, and it served notice that Springsteen was already willing to risk his popularity for his principles.

Ranked 226/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time

Mastered By Bob Ludwig Working Under The Supervision Of Springsteen & Engineer Toby Scott

Sparsely-recorded on a cassette-tape Portastudio, the tracks on Nebraska were originally intended as demos of songs to be recorded with the E Street Band. However, Springsteen ultimately decided to release the demos himself. Nebraska remains one of the most highly regarded albums in his catalogue. The songs on Nebraska both deal with ordinary, blue collar characters who face a challenge or a turning point in their lives, but also outsiders, criminals and mass murderers, who have little hope for the future - or no future at all, as in the title track, where the main character is sentenced to death in the electric chair. Unlike his previous albums, very little salvation and grace is present within the songs. The album's uncompromising sound and mood, combined with its dark lyrical content has been described by a music critic as one of the most challenging albums ever released by a major star on a major record label.

The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard and Clark

In 1965 Missouri-born Gene Clark was riding the crest of unprecedented success and adulation as a member of the Byrds. Anointed as America's answer to the Beatles, the Byrds topped the charts with folk-rock anthems like Mr. Tambourine Man, Turn! Turn! Turn! and Eight Miles High. Gene was front and center as tambourine player, singer and principal songwriter for the group. But in early 1966 he flew the Byrds' coop. A gifted songwriter, expectations ran high for a stellar solo career, but those hopes were dashed when his debut solo album and single both failed to chart. Dropped by Columbia Records the following year, Gene's career remained in limbo until teaming up with banjo player extraordinaire Doug Dillard.

What emerged from a series of informal jam sessions in and around Laurel Canyon was a loose-knit group of pickers seeking to break bluegrass music out of its traditional confines and redefine it in a contemporary country-rock context. The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark is a groundbreaking album that helped define country-rock and set the template not only for that genre but the entire alt-country, Americana and Roots Rock movements of the '90s. Together with future Eagle Bernie Leadon, who co-wrote Train Leaves Here This Morning, with Gene (featured both on the Fantastic Expedition album and later on the Eagels' debut release), the Dillard & Clark merger represents a high-water mark in Gene Clark's impressive anon of recordings and one of the most satisfying periods in his often troubled career.

The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark ranks among a handful of seminal 1960s country-rock experiments. I think we made our mark in country rock, muses Doug Dillard. We didn't make the charts but we sure influenced a lot of people. To insure that their influence carries on, Sundazed proudly presents this newly mastered edition, sourced from the original A&M analog tapes, available on resonant high-definition vinyl packaged in a vibrant recreation of the original cover artwork.

    Handcrafted in the USA

Tried and true: The Manley 500 and 250 Watt Monoblocks are our most powerful push-pull production-models. Both the circuit design and the selected componentry have been refined over years and years of development. Reliability that you can depend upon combined with musical accuracy and emotional authority is what these amplifiers promise- and deliver. They are able to switch operation modes allowing the listener to choose between the sonically seductive qualities of triode and the more powerful Ultra-Linear configuration. We use big, beefy reservoir capacitors in the high voltage supplies giving plenty of instant energy for dynamic performance of transient peaks and bass impact and weight which often exceeds that of rival solid-state amplifiers. We run high voltages on the plates of the output tubes but operate them at lower current which will result in their longer life. Although each output tube has its own bias-adjust, We carefully fit each amplifier with computer-batched tubes for optimum performance. The bias adjustment pots and measuring points are conveniently located behind the oval front panel insert.

To avoid a heavy power drain when the cold amplifier is first switched on, we conceived a Soft-Start mode which also functions as an Ever-Warm position allowing the amplifiers to be always warmed up for pleasurable listening. Each amplifier only consumes 30 watts of power in Ever-Warm mode. A blinking green LED reminds the user that the amplifier is in warm-up mode because as all the power supplies are at half-voltage, the amplifier will still operate at half power when the Ever-Warm mode is engaged, so the user should use the MUTE switch when in this mode.

The front-panel mute switch and angled-back chassis make it easier to hook up the interconnects, speaker cables, and IEC power cord.

In our own in-house magnetics department, our R&D team completely redesigned all of our output transformers in 1998 with the goal to reclaim that luscious rich mid-range of our vintage designs. In 2013 we reworked the output transformer to operate the output stage in Ultra-Linear mode which is a great sounding balance between the detail of triode and the brawn of Tetrode. We also specifically set out to achieve a deeper bottom register at higher power with lower distortion. Hours and hours of listening tests, measurements, and fine-tuning brought an exciting and stunning result to our ears. We hope you will agree.

A Place Where There's No More Pain

Life Of Agony emerged from the New York music scene in the early ‚90s with one of the most distinctive
sounds in its genre. Best known for its 1993 metal/crossover debut River Runs Red, the band instantly
built a die-hard, cult following. For over two decades, the group toured relentlessly all over the world,
sharing stages with the biggest names in rock, including Metallica, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Foo
Fighters, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. After the much-praised Ugly (1995), LOA opted for a highly
energetic alternative rock approach on Soul Searching Sun (1997) and Broken Valley (2005) - the latter
produced by Greg Fidelman (Slipknot, Metallica). Life of Agony has sold over one million albums to date.
In 2016, LOA signed a deal with Napalm Records to record the group's 5th studio album, titled A Place
Where There's No More Pain. Rolling Stone hailed it as „One of the Most Anticipated Albums of the Year".
The album is produced by Matt Brown & Life Of Agony and mastered by Ted Jensen (Alice in Chains,
Machine Head, Deftones). The drive and intensity these ten blistering new tracks possess, surpass all
expectations that built up in the past 12 years - a cathartic Sturm & Drang experience for the listener that
matches the ferocity of River Runs Red with gut wrenching rock melodies. Raging guitar riffs, heartfelt
lyrics and killer grooves mark the return of LOA's signature sound and turn A Place Where There's No
More Pain into a passionate, soul-searching affair.

The highly emotional lyrics by singer Mina Caputo link all songs by the four-piece together, then and
now: born as Keith Caputo, she had her Transgender coming out in 2011, changed her name, but kept
her inimitable style of writing deeply from the heart. „And I just want to disappear and hide," she sings
and shines a light on the path of all lost souls - while steadily walking her own. „Many of our fans have
told us over the years that sharing our personal struggles has been cathartic for them in healing the pain
in their own lives. That uplifting energy we share at the shows, gives us hope that there's light at the end
of the tunnel. And for us and hopefully our fans, that short time when we're all together is a place where
    there's no more pain."

    Never Really Been Into It

The legacy of North Carolina's Ashrae Fax seems destined to be
appreciated in retrospect, in no small part given to the
tremendous power of the group's 2003 release Static Crash!,
reissued twice from its initial CD-R run before appearing on
Mexican Summer last year. The Goth/ethereal duo of vocalist
RenÉe Mendoza and producer/guitarist Alex Chesney had built a
long, strange and mostly undocumented legacy prior to that
release, and Never Really Been Into It extends the tale back even
further: ten songs, sketched out in the late '90s, most of which
were never completed and remained unheard until now. "This
would've been our first full-length," reflects vocalist RenÉe
Mendoza, "if we had any idea what we were doing [back then]."

Rescued from a shoebox of ephemera from the band's earliest
days, when Mendoza and guitarist Alex Chesney drifted out of
high school and into the uncertainties of early adulthood, these
songs were the product of a band whose members had nothing
but time and ambition, influence and desire to transcend their
humble beginnings. Pieced together and re-recorded over a five-month period in 2013 by RenÉe Mendoza in her home studio,
from mere stems and forgotten takes preserved on decades-old
minidisc recordings, the songs on Never Really Been Into It reflect
disquiet, uncertainty, hope and numbing, absolute beauty, along
teenage obsessions with The Cocteau Twins, The Cure, and
perhaps the Projekt Records roster, refracted through the lens of
latter-day experience - pristine musicianship, gorgeous vocals,
cryogenically frozen until now. Had these songs been properly
released when initially conceived, Ashrae Fax would have no
doubt found themselves in the midst of the upswell of ethereal
pop bands of the '90s (The Underflowers, Ultracherry Violet, The
Curtain Society). As such, their moment keeps happening, and
    never ends.

Multiplatinum alt-rock band AFI release their highly anticipated new album Burials.

Rolling Stone described the albums first single I Hope You Suffer as an epic song, layering [lead vocalist Davey] Havok's anguished cries within a lightning storm of distortion, synthetic orchestrations, and volcanic percussion.

AFI perform and preview new songs from Burials during their North American tour, which kicks off September 12th, 2013 in Minneapolis.

Burials is AFI's ninth full-length studio album and first for Republic Records. The Cali-based band recorded the album with producer Gil Norton (Pixies,
Patti Smith, Foo Fighters) at East West Studios in Los Angeles. The record was mixed by Andrew Scheps (Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers).

In other news, a remix of the first single 17 Crimes will serve as the end title track to the film, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
Since the release of 1995's debut album Answer That and Stay Fashionable, AFI have written and recorded five top ten hit singles (Miss Murder,
Medicate, Love Like Winter, Silver and Gold, Girl's Not Grey), hit No. 1 on The Billboard 200 (with the stunning Decemberunderground), garnered

music in the world"), the North Carolina-bred duo spent a week in Vernon's
studio teasing out a batch of songs that effortlessly weave the hooky song-craft of classic jangle-pop, the cagey romanticism of new wave, and a

    Dear Bo Jackson

Serpents and Snakes is proud to announce the release of The Weeks full-length label debut, Dear Bo Jackson, the eagerly anticipated follow-up to their critically-praised EP, Gutter Gaunt Gangster.

The album was recorded with Grammy Award-nominated producer / engineer Paul Moak at his Nashville studio, The Smoakstack. Drawing inspiration from such iconic works as The Band's Music From The Big Pink, The Weeks enriched their well-seasoned sonic stew with the classic flavors of soul, R&B, funk, and heavy boogie to create their own unique take on contemporary Southern rock. Big brass, lush strings, and twangy pedal steel have been fused into the bands trademark sludge-pop sound, with Sam Williams' greasy guitars, the highly charged engine room of bassist Damien Bone and drummer Cain Barnes now officially joined by master keyboardist Alex Admiral Collier.

Throughout the album, songs like Brother In The Night and the exuberant title track see Cyle Barnes rending his throat raw as he tells dramatic and truthful tales of modern Southern lives, full of hope despite often punishing circumstances.
Dear Bo Jackson shows The Weeks to be not unlike the legendary athlete of the albums title: indisputable all-stars, capable of just about anything.

    Pyramid (Pure Pleasure)

With such a tight group as the MJQ is is impossible to single out individual musicians which probably accounts for their long lived success.
This is a strong recording from the Modern Jazz Quartet, with inventive versions of John Lewis' Vendome. Ray Brown's Pyramid, Jim Hall's Romaine, and Lewis' famous Django, along with cooking jams on How High The Moon and It Don't Mean A Thing. The MJQ had become a jazz institution by this time, but they never lost their creative edge, and their performances (even on the remakes) are quite stimulating, enthusiastic, and fresh. - Scott Yanow/AMG

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.
