In This Moment'
Black WidowNature counts the black widow spider amongst its most fascinating and dangerous anomalies. The female arachnid often devours its mate after copulation. It's both a delicate and dangerous predator. In This Moment isn't all that different from this enigmatic beast. Led by frontwoman Maria Brink, the Los Angeles hard rock outfit strikes with a seductive metallic bite on their aptly titled fifth full-length album, Black Widow.
Black Widow is a metaphor for this innocent young girl who gets infected with life, traumas, experiences, and the balance of light and darkness, explains Maria. She becomes this poised and powerful creature. That's the album.
We went into this with the title Black Widow, says lead guitarist Chris Howorth. It fits the image of Maria as this powerful heroine. If you think of the boys in the audience watching our stage show, she's like the black widow pulling them all in.
The record, the first for the band on Atlantic Records, picks up where the group's 2012 breakthrough, Blood, left off. That album saw In This Moment debut at #15 on the Billboard Top 200, their highest chart position to date, and eventually sold over 250,000 units in the U.S. alone. It also spawned the single Blood, which rose to #9 on the Mainstream Rock and Active Rock Songs charts. A sold out headline tour, HELLPOP, followed, as well as appearances at the Uproar Festival and Rock On The Range, and jaunts with Shinedown and Papa Roach. After the whirlwind of Blood subsided, Maria and Chris retreated to Las Vegas in February 2014 to begin working on what would become Black Widow with longtime producer Kevin Churko [Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch].LP1

RitualIn This Moment's sixth studio album, RITUAL, will be released via Atlantic Records in partnership with Roadrunner Records.
Produced by longtime collaborator - and multiple GRAMMY® Award nominee - Kevin Churko (Five Finger Death Punch, Ozzy Osbourne), RITUAL sees In This Moment pushing their inimitably dark sound forward with a provocative sense of pervading doom and metallic blues power.
Highlights include a dramatic reimagination of Phil Collins' classic "In The Air Tonight" as well as "Black Wedding," a walk down the aisle of musical madness that sees lead singer Maria Brink sharing the mic with legendary Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford.
"It's like we're going into the next realm," says Brink. "I had a conviction of feeling empowered in my life and with myself. I always write from a personal place, and I needed to share that sense of strength. I've never been afraid to hold back. Sometimes, I can be very suggestive. However, I wanted to show our fans that this is the most powerful side of myself and it's without overt sexuality. It's that deeper serious fire inside of my heart."
"When fans hear this, I want them to feel the music, whether they take away sadness, anger, or happiness," adds lead guitarist Chris Howorth. "As a kid, I remember listening to records and putting them on repeat over and over again. I'd love for the world to listen and absorb this as a piece of work."1. Salvation

Up In Arms (Awaiting Repress)We work hard, and we have a lot to say. Look around the planet - people are fed up with the corrupt ruling class. They destroy the planet and kill millions for profit, and the formula for our response is simple: Anger + applied knowledge = results. Don't just bitch. Change it.
- JOHN JOSEPH
At its purest, there is little that can match the visceral thrill and empowering spirit of hardcore. As frontman of New York City hardcore kings Cro-Mags, this is something John Joseph knows very well, and with Up In Arms, he and his Bloodclot compatriots deliver a furious collection that hits hard on every level. "In this band we're doing what each of us have always done: give it our all," he states plainly.
The results reflect the roots and passions of the individual members. Danzig/Murphy's Law guitarist Todd Youth was the first piece of the puzzle. "We've always talked about doing this record together, Todd had songs written and I had notebooks full of lyrics. In late September 2015, I went out to LA to do a triathlon and injured my calf muscle, so I couldn't race, and Todd said he could get some studio time. So, we went in and cut the demo. While there are things we may perceive as a negative in our lives, in fact the universe has a bigger plan, and that experience ultimately resulted in the record." Having been friends with Queens Of The Stone Age and Danzig powerhouse drummer Joey Castillo for three decades, the two musicians had long admired each other's work, and their collaboration has been a long time coming. Following Castillo's suggestion of bringing in Nick Oliveri (Queens Of The Stone Age/The Dwarves) to handle bass duties, the lineup was complete. The songs that comprise Up In Arms manifested after the quartet plugged in and let the music speak for them. "We didn't decide to try to play anything, these are the songs that happened when we started jamming, and I love this band because there are no egos involved. Our goal is to make the best music possible, period. I love it when those guys contribute with melodies, etc., and I've even helped with some of the arrangements. Because we all think alike, our lyrics deal with the issues of the day, and that makes for better songs."
Every track on Up In Arms lives up to the rallying cry of the album's title - the bursts of high energy hardcore act as the perfect accompaniment to Joseph setting his sights on injustice and the seemingly endless flaws of the contemporary world. The breakneck thrashing of "Slow Kill Genocide" is an anthem for everyone sickened by those responsible for "killing the planet and all its inhabitants through industry and war. They're fucking maniacs and must be stopped." The suitably titled "Manic" attacks with bared fangs, Joseph making it clear that you can only push someone so far before they will react with violence - a call to arms for the disenfranchised who want tomorrow's world to be better than today's. Tracked at NRG in Los Angeles, the raw, old-school production that leaps out from the speaker comes courtesy of producer Zeuss (Hatebreed, Revocation), and the record was mixed by Kyle McAulay at NRG. From the moment the opening title track explodes to life, it's clear that everyone involved is having a blast and playing from the heart, and that this is no frills / no bullshit music at its most passionate - every song evoking mental images of utter chaos in a heaving mosh pit.
For anyone approaching the album for the first time, Joseph has only this to say: "Turn the volume way the fuck up!" And with plans to tour everywhere, Bloodclot will be getting in a lot of faces in 2017 and beyond. "We are already writing material and the next album is in the works. But, for now, all we want is to hit the stage to support 'Up in Arms', and every single night leave every ounce of ourselves up there."

The Moment You Realize You're Going To FallFor over half a decade Black Light Burns has served as a pure creative and musical outlet for Limp Bizkit/ex-Marilyn Manson guitarist Wes Borland. And since its formation, fans have clamored to be part of the musical sideshow. BLB released their debut Cruel Melody in 2007 featuring Danny Lohner (NIN), Josh Eustis (Puscifer) and Josh Freese (Weezer, A Perfect Circle, Guns N' Roses, Devo) and went on to tour with Sevendust, Chevelle, and From First To Last, featuring Sonny Moore aka Skrillex.
BLB followed-up with 2008's Cover Your Heart And The Anvil Pants Odyssey, an LP/DVD of covers and B-sides. In 2009, after a year-long stint playing guitar for Marilyn Manson, Wes and Black Light Burns hit the road for an extended run with industrial powerhouse Combichrist, and contributed the track I Want You To.
BLB took a temporary hiatus while Borland stayed busy on a World Tour with the reformed Limp Bizkit until returning in 2012, to the delight of fans, with the track,It Rapes All In Its Path and the announcement of the forthcoming LP, The Moment You Realize You're Going To Fall. Never A Dull MomentEssentially a harder-rocking reprise of Every Picture Tells a Story, Never a Dull Moment never quite reaches the heights of its predecessor, but it's a wonderful, multi-faceted record in its own right. Opening with the touching, autobiographical rocker True Blue, which finds Rod Stewart trying to come to grips with his newfound stardom but concluding that he'd rather be back home, the record is the last of Stewart's series of epic fusions of hard rock and folk. It's possible to hear Stewart go for superstardom with the hard-rocking kick and fat electric guitars of the album, but the songs still cut to the core. You Wear It Well is a Maggie May rewrite on the surface, but it develops into a touching song about being emotionally inarticulate. Similarly, Lost Paraguayos is funny, driving folk-rock, and it's hard not to be swept away when the Stonesy hard rocker Italian Girls soars into a mandolin-driven coda. The covers -- whether a soulful reading of Jimi Hendrix's Angel, an empathetic version of Dylan's Mama, You Been on My Mind, or a stunning interpretation of Etta James' I'd Rather Go Blind -- are equally effective, making Never a Dull Moment a masterful record.

Bright Moments (Pure Pleasure)
Rahsaan Roland Kirk's live club gigs were usually engaging, freewheeling affairs, full of good humor and a fantastically wide range of music. The double album Bright Moments is a near-definitive document of the Kirk live experience, and his greatest album of the '70s. The extroverted Kirk was in his element in front of an audience, always chatting, explaining his concepts, and recounting bits of jazz history. Even if some of his long, jive-talking intros can sound a little dated today, it's clear in the outcome of the music that Kirk fed voraciously off the energy of the room.
Most of the tracks are long (seven minutes or more), demonstrating Kirk's wealth of soloing ideas in a variety of styles (and, naturally, on a variety of instruments). Pedal Up is a jaw-dropping demonstration of Kirk's never-duplicated three-horns-at-once technique, including plenty of unaccompanied passages that simply sound impossible. There's more quintessential Kirk weirdness on Fly Town Nose Blues, which heavily features an instrument called the nose flute, and the title track has a healthy dose of Kirk singing through his (traditional) flute.
His repertoire is typically eclectic: Ellington's Prelude to a Kiss; a groovy Bacharach pop tune in You'll Never Get To Heaven; a lovely version of Fats Waller's Jitterbug Waltz; and a stomping, exultant New Orleans-style original, Dem Red Beans and Rice. Perhaps the best, however, is an impassioned rendition of the ballad standard If I Loved You, where Kirk's viscerally raw, honking tone hints in a roundabout way at the avant-garde without ever losing its melodic foundation. Bright Moments empties all the major items out of Kirk's bag of tricks, providing a neat microcosm of his talents and displaying a consummate and knowledgeable showman. In short, it's nothing less than a 'tour de force'.

About Pure Pleasure
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.LP 1

Relatives In DescentAfter a year of extensive touring in support of 2015's The Agent Intellect, Protomartyr returned to their practice space in a former optician's office in Southwest Detroit. Inspired by The Raincoats' Odyshape, Mica Levi's orchestral compositions, and a recent collaboration with post-punk legends The Pop Group for Rough Trade's 40th anniversary, the band began writing new music that artfully expanded on everything they'd recorded up until that point. The result is Relatives in Descent, Protomartyr's fourth full-length and Domino debut. Though not a concept album, it presents twelve variations on a theme: the unknowable nature of truth, and the existential dread that often accompanies that unknowing. Faith In The FutureFaith in the Future is the second solo album from Craig Finn, and it's being released on Brooklyn-based indie label Partisan Records. Josh Kaufman produced the record in the cozy, rustic confines of Woodstock's The Isokon recording studio and helped Finn stretch the boundaries of his songwriting with confidence, invention and ambition in order to realize what is sure to be a defining moment in his career.
At times stark and spare, at other times vibrant and dynamic, Faith in the Future is Finn's most compelling collection thus far, each song a powerfully alluring and subtly nuanced composition wedded to his distinctive short story narratives, which owe as much to authors such as John Cheever and Raymond Carver as they do any rock influences. Most of the material on Faith in the Future was written several years ago, around the time Finn's mother died, and while none of them directly address that loss, he insists the idea of transcending grief and finding redemption running through the album can be directly traced to that event.1. Hendrix In The WestImport
Very often, at the beginning of a show, Jimi Hendrix would ask his audience to forget about what happened yesterday or today and start their own world right here.
For this special new edition of the 1971 live-album Music On Vinyl asks you to do the same.
In The West consists of live recordings from the two incarnations of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, including his legendary Isle Of Wight Festival performance in 1970, where he created a live medley of 'God Save The Queen' and 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' with a stunned Paul McCartney in the audience.
To Jimi, concerts were snapshots of where the band was at that moment in time, and Electric Ladyland director of engineering Eddie Kramer (and producer of most of Jimi's posthumous live albums) must have realized that this was when The Experience was at its peak.
In The West was the first live album to be released after Jimi's untimely death.
Forty years later, Music On Vinyl is re-releasing it with a number of beautiful extra's: three bonus tracks that have never been released before, along with a booklet of unpublished photographs by Jim Marshall, who was also responsible for the iconic cover artwork.LP 1

In The VinesRay Raposa had nearly finished this follow-up to 2005's First Light's Freeze when he was mugged at gunpoint outside his Brooklyn home. This climaxed a year of depression and nomadic, nocturnal dislocation for him. Appropriately, the album is based on a Hindu fable about being trapped in an inescapable fate, with death and the limitations of our physical lives closing in from all corners. Out In The StormRecorded With John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth)
LP Housed In A Matte Jacket With Silver Foil Detail
Includes A 12 x 24" Printed Poster Insert
Out in the Storm is the blazing result of a woman reawakened. Her mostautobiographical and honest album to date, Out in the Storm is a self-reflective anchorin the story of both Katie Crutchfield's songwriting and her life. The album tells thestory of taking control of a volatile situation, embracing flaws, and exploring a newsonic freedom.
The album was tracked at Miner Street Recordings in Philadelphia with John Agnello, known for working with some of the most iconic musicians of the last 25 years, including Dinosaur Jr. and Sonic Youth. For Agnello, it was Crutchfield's voice thatdrew him in. "The first demo song I heard was 'Fade'. The melodies, the way she singsit, the way she turns the melody, and the way she goes note to note is literally beautiful.Singers-you either have it or you don't. She has it." Agnello and Crutchfield workedtogether for most of December 2016, along with the band: sister Allison Crutchfieldon keyboards and percussion, Katherine Simonetti on bass, and Ashley Arnwine ondrums; Katie Harkin, touring guitarist with Sleater-Kinney, also contributed lead guitar. At Agnello's suggestion, the group recorded most of the music live to enhance theirunity in a way that gives the album a fuller sound compared to past releases, resultingin one of Waxahatchee's most guitar-driven releases to date. "My experience workingwith John was genuinely life-changing," says Crutchfield. "We had such a greatconnection right off the bat, and I really feel like he was always looking out for me. Hepushed me when I needed it, and gave me space when I needed it."
Crutchfield's voice oscillates between effortless grace and commanding righteousness, taking the listener with her on an explicitly personal journey. Songs like "Hear You"and "No Question" are lyrically unapologetic and musically resolute, while the softeracoustic songs like "A Little More" and "Fade" let fear and melancholy seep through. But it is on the atmospheric "Sparks Fly" where we feel an essential redemption."Sparks Fly" acts as an inner dialogue and marks the first time since the inception ofWaxahatchee that any semblance of self-love has shone through. This moment is aperspective we've yet to see from Crutchfield: it is a rediscovery of herself, and therealization of a full life she is completely worthy of. "It's about self-preservation, self-care,and reclaiming your autonomy," says Crutchfield. "When you find the things thatmake you happy, sometimes it's easier to see things that make you unhappy."1. ADAD-SEC-1019xThe War On Drugs
Lost In The DreamLost In The Dream is the third album by Philadelphia band The War on Drugs, but in many ways,it feels
like the first. Around the release of the 2011 breakthrough Slave Ambient,Adam Granduciel spent the
bulk of two years on the road, touring through progressively larger rock clubs, festival stages and late night television slots. As these dozen songs shifted and grew beyond what they'd been in the studio, The War on Drugs became a bona fide rock 'n'roll band.
That essence drives Lost In The Dream, a 10-song set produced by Granduciel and longtime engineer Jeff
Zeigler. In the past, Granduciel built the core of songs largely by himself. But these tunes were played
and recorded by the group that had solidified so much on the road: Dave Hartley, (his favorite bassist
in the world), who had played a bit on The War on Drugs' 2008 debut Wagonwheel Blues, and pianist
Robbie Bennett, a multi-instrumentalist who contributed to Slave Ambient. This unit spent eight
months bouncing between a half-dozen different studios that stretched from the mountains of North
Carolina to the boroughs of New York City. Only then did Granduciel-the proudly self-professed
gearhead, and unrepentant perfectionist-add and subtract, invite guests and retrofit pieces. He
sculpted these songs into a musical rescue mission, through and then beyond personal despair and
anxiety. Lost In The Dream represents the trials of the trip and the triumphs of its destination.
"I wanted there to be a singular voice, but I wanted it to be a project of great friends. Everyone in the
band cares about it so much,"he says."That is the crux of it-growing up,dealing with life, having close
friends, helping each other get by. That is what the record's all about.
As such, these tunes reveal a careful and thrilling reinvention of the sound that's become The War on
Drugs' trademark. The signature meld of long tones and scatter shot layers still stands, with phantom
drum machines and organ lines dotting the musical middle distance all across Lost In The Dream.Note
the way the keys whisper against the guitar's growl as the tempestuous"An Ocean in Between the Waves"
approaches pentecostal heat. Hear how, when a sharp and hard riff cuts into the inescapable chorus of
"Red Eyes," synthetic strings and baritone saxophone shape a soft, infinite bed beneath it. But there's a
new found directness to these tunes, too. Granduciel's voice steps out from behind its typical web of
effects-louder now, with more experiences to share and more steel from having survived them. He
sounds less like a prismatic reflection of a rock bandleader, more like the emboldened actualization of
that idea. With its crisp, unencumbered delivery, "Eyes to the Wind" becomes the album's centerpiece
and the group's new anthem. This is Granduciel's to-date triumph and the exact moment where Lost In
The Dream moves from a tale of confusion to one of resolve. Throughout most of the record, grips
loosen and senses fail, memories are mourned and expectations are abandoned. But after the Rolling
Thunder lift of "Eyes to the Wind," Granduciel finds new contentment and direction. Anguish
sublimates into deliverance. Backed by his bros, Granduciel becomes a preacher in a new pulpit.1. Under The Pressure

Whether the end result was a Buddy record or a Julie record, they couldn't help but collaborate and influence eachother's work. New West is now releasing their latest effort, Written In Chalk, a true collaboration. The musical synergy this couple has with each other is clear on the record and is rounded out with a thoughtful, country-soul vibe, emotional lyrics, outstanding musicianship and of course, Buddy's extraordinary guitar playing. Guests on the record include Robert Plant, Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Regina and Ann McCrary and Larry Campbell. Written In Chalk was recorded at the couple's home studio in Nashville, TN.

Animals In The Median
Salmon Colored Vinyl
Voted Portland's 2012 Best New Band by Willamette Week
One of NPR's Artists you should've known in 2012
There is a stillness between kissing lips that belies the beating hearts connected to them,
a calm in the simple gesture that holds tumultuous emotions close, keeping their caprice
from pulling you apart. For the past three years, Radiation City has scored the soundtrack
to relationships such as these. Moments where Quiet/Bombast, Future/Past,
Man/Woman, Hope/Fear are conjoined; from their use of modern electronic sounds and
the restraint of classic bossa records, to the urgency and harmony of northern soul, the
band has codified seemingly disparate ideas into a sound and ethos that is at once
refreshing and classic. Their second LP Animals In The Median will be released May 7th.
Founded in 2009 amid the glow of one budding love affair, Radiation City quickly
blossomed into a family, finding itself with a second couple and another multi
instrumentalist besides. If the quintet's early live shows and debut LP The Hands That
Take You quickly earned them a reputation as one of Portland, Oregon's most promising
young acts, the subsequent national tours and 2011's EP Cool Nightmare made good on
that promise. The band's expanding soundscape of new romanticism has drawn
accolades from NPR, Time, and KEXP to name a few.
The new full length features 12 songs recorded over the span of a year in both rural
Washington and urban Portland. You can hear a focused songwriting, lush arrangements,
and gorgeous harmonies. You can hear the celebration and lament of a sea change year
which saw the passing of matriarchs, the betrayals and betrothals of loved ones, the
baring and bruising of hopeful hearts in an increasingly dangerous world. Moreover, you
can hear a band edified, coming into their own in rich and simple gesture.1. Zombies

Rest In ChaosLet me explain what it's like to summarize Rest in Chaos. What you have here is, in the first place, the book of Genesis as deftly reconceived by Todd Snider who has been inhabited by a spirit resembling Philip K. Dick. The rest of the Hard Working Americans are under the direction (or perhaps in the thrall) of an older wiser Jimi Hendrix and a Frank Zappa no less exacting than he was when he departed. It is rock'n'roll music, past, present and future, and that's no dream, it's just a fact. There are moments here when the walls of Babel might be falling, there are moments when they are reinvented and every time you try to pin it down, it shows you something else. "Half Ass Moses," the third song, ends by declaring "The song wasn't all that complicated."
Like hell it isn't. When, in the very next song, "Dope is Dope," Todd Snider is a voice more inflammatory and gritty than I have ever heard from him before, "His mother didn't understand him / Whose mother ever does?" am I supposed to laugh, cry, applaud or beg for mercy. All that's really sure is, you're not leaving 'til the show's over. Even if you want to. There's nowhere else to go, and even if there were, the music's too good.
So much for metaphysics. The actual physics of the thing is seven billion people out for what they only think is a stroll, armed with nothing more than some quite treacherous Roman candles Rest in Chaos might, if these Hard Working Americans were scientists of something other than sound, be the story of the entropy of the universe, and if you think I'm kidding that's only because you haven't taken the deep dive into its complexity, which if not quantum is at least a quandary. Albums aren't this good anymore; they're not this ambitious; their parts are not so finely conceived, the risks they take are not so reckless, the ways they resolve contradictions are not so elegant. Most of all they don't kick you in the preconceptions anywhere near so often. (How did they manage to create harmonies in "Something Else" that recall both the Hollies and the Mothers of Invention?)
Todd's songs sound like he swiped part of them from Billy Joe Shaver and part from Tim Buckley and welded them together with spare parts from Iggy and Paul McCartney. There's a nightmare embedded here, and what cares the weight of it, the aspect of doom and the hint of doom is Dave Schools' bass. Neal Casal, who might be the most under-rated guitarist in rock, is constantly making the chaos more beautiful than you'd think possible. The roots of the sound are in the jam bands and Americana groups and singer-songwriter sessions the band members have played in but when they get to "Throwing Goats" (OK, maybe I should have said Thomas Pynchon or John Barth rather than Dick) and "Something Else" (both parts), they've joined the ranks of the rockers who no longer look for interstellar overdrive, because they've already found it.
All this is, of course, metaphor. Well, most of it. Some of it. The part about how strong it is, how smart, how completely the product of the past ("stand up for your brother, stick it to the man") and how anticipatory of one of the best futures anyone has shown us is straight up. It's one of the most well-sustained albums I've heard in years, and what it sustains is not only my faith in rock'n'roll or even how hard the Hard Working Americans really do work to make their magic, but how much it means to them, which is the only way it can mean very much to the rest of us.
Let me put it this way: I've heard Rest in Chaos any number of times and there's no way I'm done with it. I can tell you about its surface but I haven't gotten to the bottom of it. I'm not really sure there is one. It is humbling to confront it, and reassuring to know that there is all the rest of our lives for that. "The High Price of Inspiration"? A bargain.1. ADAD-4AD-1804xDepartment Of Eagles
In Ear ParkDepartment of Eagles began in 2000, when Fred Nicolaus and Daniel Rossen became roommates at New York University. The two began making music together, collecting samples and turning them into songs using pirated software and a microphone borrowed from their neighbor Chris Taylor (who, years later, would become Daniel's bandmate in Grizzly Bear and DoE's producer/engineer). In 2004 Daniel joined the group Grizzly Bear as a singer, guitarist and songwriter. He began touring with the band, and brought a number of songs to their critically acclaimed sophomore album Yellow House and follow-up EP Friend. Over the years, stealing time on weekends and between tours, they slowly accumulated bits and pieces, and by late 2007 an album had begun taking shape. In December, Department of Eagles began work on its second album, In Ear Park. Chris Taylor acted as producer/engineer and also played electric bass and horns. Chris Bear, Grizzly Bear's drummer, also contributed heavily to the album. In Ear Park is a colorful and expansive album, an intimate and personal collection of songs; much of the material that Daniel Rossen brought to In Ear Park draws on memories from his childhood, especially those relating to his father, who passed away in 2007 and to whom the album is dedicated. Many of Fred's contributions relate to similar themes of nostalgia and mortality, giving the album at times an elegiac feel. Ear Park is full of intimate moments, lush production and concise songwriting.1. In Ear Park
