Holy Fuck took the world by surprise around 2005 because there was
just nothing like them-a hardcore thrift-store found-object punk
band with a relentless commitment to rhythm and a sense for
atmosphere better matched to a close encounter of the third kind
than a simple rock concert. Think EinstÜrzende Neubauten re-inspired
by Fela Kuti with Brian Eno working as keyboard tech and every
channel on the mixer set to max power. It was the best ride out there
while it lasted, up to and including their 2010 full-length Latin,
recorded largely in too-brief breaks while on the road. That album
cemented Holy Fuck's sound and reputation for unapologetic
instrumental noise but at the end of yet another insane touring cycle,
it was time to take a break which turned into a hiatus which turned
into a chance to explore other projects and production work. (Like the
bands Lids, Dusted and Etiquette, or production for Metz, Alvvays and
    Viet Cong.)

They'd been moving faster than they'd ever expected, especially after
a 2007 sophomore release that came close to securing Canada's
prestigious Juno and Polaris Music Prize. (Not to mention festival slots
at All Tomorrow's Parties, Glastonbury, Coachella and more-plus Lou
Reed said they were the best band he'd seen at SXSW.) The strategy
was just to stay busy, says founder and noisemaster Brian Borcherdt,
but soon they started to feel like Indiana Jones running from that
boulder: "He had to step aside and let things settle!"

But there's nothing Indiana Jones does better than the shock reveal, is
there? And so in 2016 Holy Fuck suddenly announced the release of
Congrats, a surprise full-length two years in the making that is by any
scientific measure their holiest fuckiest release ever: "When you're
sitting still in a van and staring out the windows, you start to dream
about all the other things you want to do," says Borcherdt. "This album
is exactly what we couldn't do then."

Checking into a "proper" studio, rather than the barn in rural Ontario
where most of Holy Fuck's records were made, Congrats was
recorded by the same lineup that recorded Latin: Borcherdt, Graham
Walsh, Matt "Punchy" McQuaid, and Matt Schulz. As they worked, they
discovered that Congrats was a process of refining things, Walsh
says-both physically and philosophically. Their ad hoc arsenal of
low-budget hi-tech toys has been streamlined down to what he calls
the nervous system of the band: "What gets run through our system is
the seed of the idea for our music, and the system is what we play. This
record is almost a beginning-the first stage of a new way for us."

So consider those previous albums prelude to Holy Fuck's true
breakthrough, and recognize Congrats as the moment when Holy
Fuck take the chaos and craziness (and charm) that have always been
at the heart of their band and not so much control it as concentrate it.
Now they're heavier, wilder, leaner, sharper, more daring and more
unpredictable than ever before, on fire with the power of inspired
outsiders like Suicide, Silver Apples, Can, Mission of Burma or the
Monks or even Sun Ra, says Borcherdt, whose pursuit of his own kind
of musical purity is exactly what Holy Fuck are after. Yes, it took them
a few years, which in 2016 is supposed to be the career suicide, but
they took that time to take chances. "We were told we did everything
wrong," Borcherdt says now, laughing-but really Congrats is the
sound of a band doing absolutely everything right.

    First Time On Vinyl

Seven Years In Tibet is the 1997 American war drama film based on the same-titled book written by Austrian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer on his experiences in Tibet.

In the film, the main characters Heinrich Harrer and Peter Aufschnaiter, played by Brad Pitt and David Thewlis, are mountaineering in British India (now Pakistan) and their German citizenship results in their imprisonment by the British in a camp at the Himalayan foothills. They escape prison and flee to Tibet where Harrer befriends the 14th Dalai Lama. The Dalai Lama becomes one of his tutors, as well as a close friend.

The music of Seven Years in Tibet is composed by American film composer John Williams. He has won 5 Academy Awards, 4 Golden Globe Awards, 7 BAFTA Awards, and 21 Grammy Awards for his musical work.

With a career spanning over six decades he has composed some of the most popular and recognizable film scores in cinematic history, to many of the highest-grossing films of all-time, including Jaws, the Star Wars series, Superman, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, the Indiana Jones series, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List and the first three Harry Potter films.

Classical cellist Yo-Yo Ma is featured on the title theme and on most of the instrumental tracks plus there are several tantric excerpts from the Tibetan Gyuto Monks.

Limited Edition Of 2000 Copies On Transparent Blue And Gold Mixed Vinyl

With the production of the movie The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn the collaboration between director Steven Spielberg and composer John Williams got into a new chapter. A chapter which Williams fills with fascinating compositions on an adventurous ride. Progressive jazz mixed with orchestral cues are a big part of the soundtrack, but always with the signature if Williams himself. The masterful composer which is known for his work for the film scores of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones series and movies like E.T., Schindler's List and Jurassic Park is still recording as a perfectionist. All the energy and adventure of the movie is brought to life in the harmonic complexity and the creativity of his brilliant compositions. He converts the story to his orchestral pieces and know which melodies puts down the right mood for the different scenes.

The American composer John Williams started his musical journey back in the 50's with his orchestral pieces and compositions for television series. It meant the advance of one of the greatest film composers the world would ever know about. His list of compositions is endless and he has won dozens Awards. He composed the score for eight of the top twenty highest-grossing films at the U.S. box office.

    Enemy/Lover

Dreamers of the Ghetto are a family band from Bloomington, IN, consisting of brothers Luke and Jonathan Jones, Luke's wife, Lauren and Marty Sprowles. After teasing blogs with enigmatic, homemade video clips for the past year, Indiana's most promising and perhaps most eccentric group finally unleashes their debut album, the stunning Enemy/Lover mixed by Kevin Ratterman (My Morning Jacket).

Dreamers of the Ghetto marries the sentiment of classic '80s film soundtracks to minimalist, romantic dream-rock, creating a unique environment that becomes almost instantly addicting. The triumphant, reach-for-the-stars attitude of veterans like U2 and Depeche Mode is paired with the gospel splendor of Spiritualized and ominous austerity of The xx, all carried by what Shaking Through calls the most amazing singer we've seen since Sharon Van Etten.

Dreamers of the Ghetto have mined a sound that is both timeless and nostalgic, and theyve done so with an earnest fearlessness and refreshing lack of irony. They are true, pure, and unbelievably powerful.

The Great Chicago Concert 1956 (Pure Pleasure) (Awaiting Repress)

There has never been (nor will there ever be again) a musician so beloved all over the world as Louis Armstrong. Artistically, he was not only the single most influential fount and inspiration for every pop-music instrumentalist and singer of his time and thereafter, but he was quite easily the greatest entertainer ever to step on the stage, musical or theatrical. And where Louis was concerned, there was no separation; he was as theatrical as he was musical.

This album documents just one of his countless concert appearances. It is unique and typical at the same time, for the evening began with a review of '50 years of Jazz' (which also paralled Armstrong's life, for he and jazz were both born at the turn of the century - Louis in 1901, as a baptismal certificate discovered after his death has established, not 1900, as he had always believed), followed by a standard-issue Armstrong All Stars program.

Although his choice of selections would change slightly from one night to another, and then more so from one year to the next, certain elements remained constant. No matter how often a composition was repeated (he opened every show "Sleepy Time Down South", almost invariably followed by "Indiana"), Louis Armstrong gave his all every performance - no matter how many or few in the audience, and no matter if the decades of nearly non-stop touring had left him exausted on a particular night.

    Musicians:

    • Louis Armstrong (trumpet, vocal)

    • Edmond Hall (clarinet, vocal)

    • Trummy Young (trombone, vocal)

    • Billy Kyle (piano)

    • Dale Jones (bass)

    • Barrett Deems (drums)

    • Velma Middleton (vocal)

Recording: June 1956 live at Medina Temple, Chicago

    Production: George Avakian

    Format: 3LPs 33rpm / Box, booklet

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.
