The Innovation Compact Wood is based on the technology of the Clearaudio Innovation Wood turntable, but uses a single plinth as opposed to the stainless steel sub-platter found on the Innovation Wood. Its resonance-optimized chassis shape is based on the proven success of Clearaudio's three-point design - a combination of Panzerholz, aluminum layers, and aluminum pods. The Innovation Compact Wood uses Clearaudio's patented CMB (Ceramic Magnetic Bearing) technology, where the platter magnetically levitates on an inverted bearing attached to a low-friction ceramic shaft. Have a question about this product? Please email our audio advisor or call 1-877-929-8729 with any questions or concerns regarding your equipment purchase.

The lowest platter (the lower of two drive platters) is belt-driven by a low-noise, high-torque DC motor controlled by Clearaudio's Optical Speed Control (OSC) technology, which is a microscopic reflective strobe and infrared sensor that ensures incredible speed accuracy.

The dynamically balanced main platter, a precision-machined sandwich of 70mm of high density polymer and 15mm of stainless steel, is connected to the upper drive platter by Clearaudio's patented Ceramic Magnetic Bearing (CMB), so that the main platter and upper drive platter assembly floats on a magnetic field just above the lower drive platter with no point of load to wear or to generate friction and noise.

The two drive platters contain a magnetic clutch so that the upper drive platter and the main platter are driven with no physical connection to the drive source.

In addition to providing silent and frictionless drive, this system gives the Master Innovation Wood twice the flywheel mass of the renowned Clearaudio Innovation Wood turntable.

The combination of the no-contact magnetic drive, frictionless Ceramic Magnetic Bearing, and Optical Speed Control guarantee incredible pitch stability and freedom from noise, ultimately leading to unbelievably realistic musical reproduction.

The chassis features four layers of a complex sandwich of resonance-damping materials: aluminum and Panzerholz (bulletproof wood).

The Master Innovation can accommodate up to three tonearms, allowing for complete flexibility of tonearm and phono cartridge.

In keeping with Clearaudio's commitment to long-term customer satisfaction, Innovation Wood owners are able to upgrade to the Master Innovation Wood.

    Fade

Fade is the most direct, personal and cohesive album of Yo La Tengo's career. Recorded with John McEntire at Soma Studios in Chicago, it recalls the sonic innovation and lush cohesion of career high points like 1997's I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One and 2000's And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out. The album is a tapestry of fine melody and elegant noise, rhythmic shadowplay and shy-eyed orchestral beauty, songfulness and experimentation.

Head Wound City is made up of members of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Blood Brothers, and The Locust. All come from diverse backgrounds, steeped in metal (thrash and grind in particular), goth, and every permutation of hardcore and punk imaginable. Their entirely aptly titled debut album, A New Wave of Violence (taken from the Raymond Pettibon zine), sounds like what one might imagine the sum total of five people known for innovation in discordant audio assault would sound like.

    Thickfreakness

Akron, Ohio's Black Keys offer crunchy, riff-heavy blues-rock that is remarkably rich and textured, particularly when one considers that they are merely a duo. Continuing in the vein of their 2002 debut, The Big Come Up, this sophomore album leavens their garage blues with enough innovation to keep things interesting, taking full advantage of Dan Auerbachs full-throated growl. Particularly appealing are Hard Row, which lurks somewhere between Cream and punk rock, the strong stomp of Everywhere I Go, and the irresistible guitar riff that graces If You See Me. The Black Keys might be covering familiar territory, but they do it so well--and with so much invention--that one is inclined to yield it to them and see what they do with it.

    In Search Of Black Judas

In Search of Black Judas blasts off with hardcore riffs and monstrous grooves, delivered with classic Bad Brains fire and fury and the quickness to shift into downtempo reggae passages. Its a heady and intoxicating mix of sounds that continues a quest for innovation and soulful vibes, anchored by Darryl Jenifers rock steady lines.

From the stripped down rub-a-dub of Babylon Leave Me Alone to the dark and ominous Trinity Rub, an excursion into post-punk-dub akin to PIL or The Ruts, Jenifers inventive bass builds a rock-steady foundation on each track. Black Slavery Dayz Mosh is a charging reggae groove featuring Bad Brains vocalist HRs twisted and treated vocals. With Intricate, spacious and detailed production In Search of Black Judas is an aural pleasure and long awaited addition to an already grand legacy.

    You're Dead!

You're Dead! is a shamanic pilgrimage into the psychedelic unknown of the infinite afterlife. A sonic, visual and metaphysical fusion of technological innovation and technical virtuosity that amounts to a transcendent, mind-expanding plasm that could only exist between our world and another. The enduring universe of Lotus' supporting cast has expanded and evolved to feature in order of appearance, Herbie Hancock, Kendrick Lamar, Captain Murphy, Snoop Dogg, Angel Deradoorian, Thundercat, Niki Randa, alongside mindblowing original artwork by Japanese comic book artist Shintaro Kago. "The album isn't about the end, it's really the beginning. It's a celebration of the next experience. It's the transition and the confusion. It's not 'hey you're dead.' It's 'hey you're dead!'"

    Psychphonic

Rock choir Polyphonic Spree return with Psychphonic, an LP that pays homage to frontman Tim DeLaughter's cinematic experience by taking the innovation of the band's most critically acclaimed album to date, Yes, It's True, and remixing it towards a more atmospheric sound.

"I always enjoy a date with my Linn drum machine. Once I set the mood and tone I go from there in terms of songwriting," said DeLaughter in a press release.

Twenty-two members strong, Polyphonic Spree orchestrates an album that's ambient without being dull, rhythmic without being repetitive. It's fitting, since DeLaughter's first instrument was drums: he says his first set was an assembly of empty Baskin-Robbins containers. In more recent work, he's focused on drums as an underpinning for more integrated orchestral sounds. Violins, baritone sax, and piano accelerate the melodies on Psychphonic rather than accenting their own self-conscious solos.

Rock Out With Dick Dale And His Del-Tones (Live At Ciro's)

Prior to his emergence as a recording artist, surf guitar king Dick Dale first carved out his legend as a live performer. The artist's incendiary early shows in front of raucous surfer crowds at Balboa Beach's Rendezvous Ballroom established Dale as a regional sensation, and in the process helped to put surf music on the map. After he became an international star, Dale and his longstanding band the Del-Tones maintained the energy and innovation of their early performances, expanding their reputation as a peerless live act.

In 1965, Dale captured the infectious spirit of his live shows with this album, recorded on stage at the fabled Hollywood nightclub Ciro's. This vintage LP offers a bracing snapshot of the trailblazing guitar hero at his string-shredding best, tearing into his classic Let's Go Trippin', and applying his head-spinning instrumental fire to such diverse tunes as Henry Mancini's Peter Gunn, Lee Hazlewood's Angry Generation and Bob Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind. He also unveils his underrated vocal skills on riveting readings of Eddie Cochran's Summertime Blues, Barrett Strong's Money and Ray Charles' What'd I Say.

Out of print on vinyl for decades, the Sundazed edition of Rock Out with Dick Dale and His Del-Tones (Live at Ciro's) has been mastered from the original analog tapes and pressed on high-quality 180-gram vinyl, with completely restored original cover art.

    Maxinquaye

    Import

Around the time Tricky emerged as a solo artist, independent of the Massive Attack collective, he was asked to describe his music. If you want to dance to it, go ahead. If you want to sit in a darkened room and let it fill your head with strange thoughts, that's fine too.

Trip Hop, a term Tricky soon grew to despise, has become so omnipresent over the years, that it's easy to forget how outside the mainstream it once was. Tricky's 1995 debut 'Maxinquaye' is one of those albums that brought the music to the forefront, entering the UK charts at #2 on its release despite a shocking lack of airplay, and ending up topping many, many year-end lists.

But despite its being a harbinger of one of the most prevalent music styles of the nineties, it exists outside of trends and time and still stands as a powerhouse of musical innovation almost twenty years on.

Vocalists Martina Topley-Bird and Goldfrapp work as modern day female Pied Pipers, luring you into Tricky's dark, menacing, haunting and overall disturbing world: a ghostly Hades painted in vivid imagery by Tricky's lisping and lilting flow on top of tantalizing beats.

    Before The Plane Of Angles

Hailing from Oakland, CA is Wild Hunt, a metal band poised for the release of their debut full-length album, Before the Plane of Angles. This conceptual piece offers up a wide musical spectrum, intuitively blending a number of metal sub-genres with elusive, sonic textural overlays. Unconventional song structure and the 'continuous mix' format are an invitation to the album's epic journey of altered-states. The progressive sound the group creates with this work began to take shape during the latter part of the last decade.

Though established in 2004, Wild Hunt formed a decisive line-up in 2009, enlisting Greg Brace and Drew Cook on guitars, West Lenz on bass, and Harland Burkhart on drums and vocals. Brace, Cook, and Burkhart constitute three-fourths of Dimesland, another metal group, also from Oakland. Drawing on the influences of various art mediums and musical forms to the point where all become facets, Wild Hunt have developed a sound that is inherently their own. With a further goal to provide an emphasis on atmosphere, the palpable harmonic structure of their sound conjures a sense of place inside its defiant clarion call.

Within the album Before the Plane of Angles, melodic dual-guitar lines, blast beat drumming, and twisted, cathartic vocalizations lead the charge, galvanizing into vocal choral movements of harmonic breadth and intensity. Bringing innovation and integrity with this release, Wild Hunt have plenty more fuel in the tank to explore new realms far into the future. Deluxe 3-sided LP with etched vinyl side in gatefold sleeve.

    This Is It

Psychedelic music all began with the tiniest possible
bang: a minuscule pressing of a self-produced LP by
Zen Buddhist scholar Alan Watts. In one cosmic flash
of inspiration and group improvisation, the next two
decades of musical innovation was pre-supposed:
psychedelic rock, spiritual jazz, and even new age. As
this micro pressing barely made it out of the ashram,
it was his writings that actually spread his ideas, usually
through osmosis: he was profoundly influential on
the beat poets and the subsequent counter-culture.
He became the forebear of '60s counter-culture's
spirituality, much as William Burroughs was the
    forebear of its hedonism.

Released in 1962, This Is It is an imaginative cacophony
of percussion, non-verbal chanting, and free-flowing
expression, punctuated occasionally by leisurely passes
at a terrestrial piano, marimba, or french horn. It is
at once, experimental, intellectual, and experiential.
Three years before Ken Kesey's inaugural Acid Test,
This Is It! constitutes the first transmission for a tunedin
counterculture of hippies, beats, and psychedelic
    revolutionaries of all stripes.

    Creative Eclipses

Looking through Cave In's expansive career, between their two most towering achievements sits the Creative Eclipses EP where you can see everything change. It's been 20 years since the Boston quartet sliced canyons through multiple scenes, starting as a corrosive hardcore band before releasing some of the most unorthodox and exhilarating songs in extreme music on Until Your Heart Stops. And before the aftershocks could die down, Cave In evolved more radically than anyone could have predicted. While members have forged divergent paths with Old Man Gloom, Mutoid Man, Clouds and Zozobra in the years since, Creative Eclipses was the first signal that a band already celebrated for their innovation could effortlessly push beyond anything they'd tried before. Before Jupiter could transform Cave In into rock saviors, there were these five tracks. Opener "Luminance" is an ascendent, shimmering hymn that bruises the troposphere. The cover of Failure's "Magnified," is taken over with such fervor it feels like something the band hatched themselves, and the acoustic "Burning Down the Billboards" is both a revolutionary and apocalyptic anthem. The two "Sonatas," both ambient tracks, can wholly stand on their own as fascinating immersions into noise. Creative Eclipses is much more than a bridge between the two worlds Cave In has inhabited; it's a captivating example of the sonic rewards that follow the band every time they''ve chosen to obliterate expectations.

    Future Politics

Future Politics, Austra's third, and most ambitious album to date, calls for radical hope: "a commitment to replace the approaching dystopia," says Katie Stelmanis. "Not just hope in the future, but the idea that everyone is required to help write it, and the boundaries of what it can look like are both fascinating and endless. It's not about 'being political,' it's about reaching beyond boundaries, in every single field."

A collection of urgent, but disciplined anthems for dancefloor and headphones, Future Politics asks each of us to remember that apocalypse is not an inevitability, but the product of human decision-making. It aims for a world without borders, where human compassion and curiosity drive technological innovation rather than profit, where the necessity of labor is replaced with time for creativity and personal growth, and the terror and destruction wrought by colonialism and white supremacy is recognized as a dark age in human history. The album is radicalism distilled: to galvanic beats, gorgeous, kinetic melodies, and the vulnerable majesty of Stelmanis's voice. With its steady, propulsive beats and siren-like synth hooks, it's both an anthem and an ultimatum: we have a duty to imagine better and to imagine big.

    Do You Feel Ok?

Since their 2013 Innovative Leisure debut, Exhibitions, Superhumanoids sound like they've traveled 30 years forward. Whereas their first album elicited comparisons to artists from the 1980s, Do You Feel Ok? reflects the present in all the power and clarity possible with modern technology. The synths are phosphorescent.

Lead singer Sarah Chernoff's vocals are sleek, ethereal, and ignore gravitational limitations. With propulsive drum machines and feathery hooks, the band blends futuristic electronic textures with classic regard for songwriting. Superhumanoids are singular, but their grace at switching between dance music and rock recall similar hybrids, Darkside and Caribou.

It's been three years since the release of Nosaj Thing's highly acclaimed debut album, Drift, which topped countless best of year lists, but 2013 will mark a new chapter for the 27-year-old producer, musician and DJ from Los Angeles. With a new album, label and imprint for Innovative Leisure, Home marks the first time Nosaj has incorporated guest vocalists. Having remixed and worked with the likes of The XX, Flying Lotus, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Beck & Kendrick Lamar, it was time to incorporate a few collaborations of his own with Toro Y Moi and Kazu Makino (Blonde Redhead) providing ethereal vocals for two of the tracks on Home. The rest of the album is rounded with Nosaj's signature cinematic soundscapes that explore the space from where Drift left off.
