Murray Head's Nigel Lived is a groundbreaking classic and one of the boldest, most daring and inventive albums of all time. Recorded by the great recording engineer Phill Brown, Nigel Lived is from the golden era of all-analog recording, a sonic and musical masterpiece that every music lover and audiophile simply must have.
In Spring of 1972 Murray Head was just 25, coming off amazing success on the stage and screen, when he recorded his debut album, Nigel Lived. And Nigel isn't just any album, it's an ambitious, experimental album full of great songs that required stunningly diverse recording techniques and instrumentation on every track. There are beautiful acoustic works that draw a straight line to Murray's later albums like ''Ruthie'' and ''When You Wake Up In The Morning,'' there are straight-up rockers and amazingly innovative tracks like ''Religion'' and the sprawling ''Junk.''
Nigel's story arc unfolds as a three-act play in which Nigel leaves a small town for the big city, finds love and success before crashing into addiction and despair. The background locations, characters and scenes change sonically throughout as Nigel was a adventurous & pioneering effort in blending studio recording with an incredible array of location recordings captured all over London's West End.
In the same way that films today operate on the ''found footage'' motif, Murray's ahead-of-its-time conceptual treatment for Nigel consisted of hand writing a ''diary'' for Nigel that was then ''found'' by Murray, who put Nigel's life to song. It's a brilliant narrative tool that allowed Murray to weave aspects of his own rich experiences in the whirlwind of late 60s London into the songs. Murray saw great success, making a splash on stage in Hair and on-screen in films like The Family Way and John Schlesinger's avant-garde Sunday Bloody Sunday. And he saw the depths working in a drug-addiction clinic and watching friends disappear into and eventually succumb to heroin.
Nigel Lived is driven by Murray's tremendous energy, and the songs are witty, intense, achingly beautiful and exceptionally well-recorded.

Summer In The City: Live In New YorkFirst Time Ever On Vinyl!
Remastered From New High-Res Master Files By Kevin Gray At Cohearent Audio
Double LP Set, Ultra-Quiet 180-Gram Vinyl Pressed At RTI
Beautiful ''Old-Style'' Gatefold Printed By Stoughton
Intervention Records is thrilled to bring Joe Jackson's Summer in the City Live in New York to vinyl for the very first time! Previously available only on CD, Summer in the City joins IR's wildly successful vinyl reissues of Jackson's early New Wave classics Look Sharp!, I'm the Man and Night and Day.
Summer in the City's repertoire is an amazing bridge that spans the greatest hits of Jackson's early canon with stunning new arrangements and covers from other great songwriters. Jackson classics like ''Fools in Love,'' ''You Can't Get What You Want'' and ''It's Different for Girls'' meet with covers as diverse as Duke Ellington's ''Mood Indigo,'' The Beatles' ''Eleanor Rigby'' and Steely Dan's ''King of the World.''
Summer in the City was mastered to vinyl by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio from brand-new high-res master files. Summer in the City was recorded live in New York City in August of 1999 by Steve Remote and Co-Producer Sheldon Steiger. Sony's archivists and Battery Studios' Mike Piacentini compiled new high-res digital master files from the original DATs with the final mixes, and IR consulted with Remote and Steiger on key aspects of the recording to ensure the best possible source files were used. The result is an absolute sonic stunner, brought to new life on this double LP set!
Summer in the City's original album art has been rebuilt into a beautiful gatefold jacket by IR's art director Tom Vadakan.

Damogen FuriesThrough this record I aim to explore as forcefully as possible the hallucinatory, the nightmarish and the brutally visceral capacities of electronic music." - Squarepusher. Squarepusher's legacy is unassailable. From his early releases on Rephlex and his residency at the Blue Note, through his aggressive interpretations of ensemble jazz, the peerless Music Is Rotted One Note, his musique concrete experiments, and the boundary-warping drum 'n' bass with which he is synonymous, Squarepusher has tilted ever forwards. Damogen Furies, his first full-length since 2012's Ufabulum, sees Squarepusher's powers in full flow. All of the recordings here were made in one take, with no edits. Damogen Furies is a record that has the brutal energy and vivaciousness of a debut. It sees the peak and confluence of the preoccupations that have emerged throughout Squarepusher's career, approached with the antagonism and audacity of an artist who still believes in the power of Format: CD the intervention.1. Most Messed UpMost Messed Up is a revealing, 12-track meditation on 20 years in music that finds the Old 97's at their raucous, boozy best. It's "a rock opera, a way-off Broadway musical about a musician's life, loves and lubrication," says music critic Bill Flanagan. Recorded in Austin and produced by Salim Nourallah, Most Messed Up also features guest appearances by Tommy Stinson (The Replacements, Guns N' Roses) and Jon Rauhouse (Neko Case) on lap-steel.
Titles like "Wasted," "Intervention," "Wheels Off," "Let's Get Drunk & Get It On," and "Most Messed Up" hint at the kind of narrators frontman Rhett Miller likes to inhabit - men who possess an appetite for indulgence and won't let a few bad decisions get in the way of a good story. The magic in Miller's songwriting lies in the depth that he lends his characters. Upon closer inspection, the hard partying and endless pursuit of a good time often reveals itself to be a Band-Aid covering up deeper wounds and emotional scars. "There's a lot of darkness hidden in this record," Miller explains.1. Longer Than You've Been Alive

Document & Eyewitness 1979-1980For those unfamiliar with Document and Eyewitness, it really doesn't do it justice to describe it simply as a collection of live recordings from three turn-of-the-80s Wire gigs. What makes it more than that is the unorthodox nature of the main performance and the way it was presented on record. The centrepiece of the original vinyl release was a recording of the final gig of Wire's 70s phase. Wire's set was composed of largely new (and often under-rehearsed) work, accompanied by a series of artistic actions and interventions.
The evening was memorable for the unusually hostile reaction from sections of the audience, which has perhaps elevated it beyond a simple passing moment. If the crowd was expecting a standard gig, the level of outrage, expressed in vociferous abuse suggested that the band's intentions were lost on those in attendance, who were instead confounded by the apparent artistic pretensions on display. The approach was to couple selected live tracks with a spoken commentary on the proceedings by long-term Wire fans Adrian Garston and Russell Mills. Hence the title, Document and Eyewitness. For the album, the Electric Ballroom material was supplemented with recordings from a July 1979 show at the Notre Dame Hall (a straightforward band performance), along with one track from a 1979 gig in Montreux.1. 5/10 (Electric Ballroom Version)

Avec le soleil sortant de sa bouche began in MontrÉal in 2011, with bassist,
singer and composer Jean-Sebastien Truchy seeking a new live ensemble to
fuel his desired return to the highly structured afro-kraut trance rock that was
a stock-in-trade of his previous group, the pseudo-legendary Fly Pan Am (one
of Constellation's earliest bands, active from 1998-2005).
Avec le soleil initially formed with Truchy joined by guitarist/engineer
Sebastien Fournier and drummer Nasir Hasan; a rotating cast of additional
players contributed to the group for live shows throughout 2012-2013, and the
band gained a local reputation for irresistible and levitational live sets
combining a contemporary/avant-garde sensibility with infectiously angular,
rubbery grooves. Guitarist Eric Gingras (Pas Chic Chic) emerged as a fourth
core member during this period.
Avec le soleil has by now careened towards mastery of a highly original,
deeply satisfying, giddy and heady avant-funk. Anchored by the excellent bass
and drum work of Truchy and Hasan, the group's music is woven with crisp
stuttering guitar and keyboard lines and a dynamic palette of electronic
interventions. The pair of exquisite and exhilarating 20-minute pieces
featured on Zubberdust! are the culmination of the group's first two years of
conceptual and somatic development.
This is (mostly) instrumental rock that exuberantly succeeds in blending a
primitivist, hypnotic energy with cerebral pleasures, seeding an addictive trail
of sonic brain-candy throughout the mixes. The band wholly embodies and
channels its inimitable square grooves, while teasing out the innumerable joys
of repetition via micro-deployments of ever-shifting electronic overlays -
along with the occasional full-stop and 180 degree turn. Truchy's wordless
lead vocals (and his choral arrangement on "Face à l'instant") add compelling
textural and melodic counterpoints while lending the music an especially
timeless, deterritorialised and emotive dimension.
Radwan Moumneh's recording and production skills are on fine display; the
album's sonic bedrock conveys all the assertiveness of the rhythm section's
punk/hardcore roots, upon which a miasma of detailed intertwining elements
circulate with clarity and cohesion. Zubberdust! comes in waves and pushes
some serious air, while maintaining a meticulously upfront soundstage as the
music moves supplely back and forth between simplicity/minimalism and

Lost Songs (Out Of Stock)Lost Songs is the eighth studio album by Austin, Texas art rock outfit ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead.
Recorded at Horus Sound Studios in Hanover, Germany, the album's lyrics are themed around war, tyranny and apathy. Frontman Conrad Keely said, the music was inspired by the apathy to real world events that has plagued the independent music scene now for over a decade. Up to Infinity is about the Syrian civil war. We believe that tyranny and despotism suffered by any people, anywhere, is intolerable and should not be treated as an internal matter, but completely justifies intervention by the international community.LP1
