A Walk With Love And DeathThe Melvins have announced their first double album, A Walk With Love and Death, set for release via Ipecac Recordings. The dual albums find the trio of Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover, and Steve McDonald showcasing two distinct sides to the band's music: Death, a proper Melvins' release, and Love, the score to the Jesse Nieminen directed, self-produced short also titled A Walk With Love and Death.
"This was a huge undertaking," explained band ringleader Buzz Osborne. "All three things: the album, the soundtrack, and the film are benchmarks for us."
Drummer Dale Crover added, "A Walk With Love and Death is one giant, dark, moody, psychotic head trip! Not for the faint of heart. You'll sleep with the lights on after listening."
The albums, which include guests Joey Santiago (The Pixies), Teri Gender Bender (Le Butcherettes/Crystal Fairy) and Anna Waronker (That Dog), were self-produced with engineer Toshi Kosai.LP 1: Love

Cortar TodoFor over fifteen years, Zu's modus operandi of straddling and abusing musical genres has resulted in over fifteen unique album releases across labels such as Ipecac, Atavistic and Headz (Japan). Their experimental amalgam of metal, math, no-wave, noise and electronics, led acclaimed composer John Zorn to describe their sound as a powerful and expressive music that totally blows away what most bands do these days.
In the running for the title of the world's hardest working band, Zu have performed over 1000 shows throughout Europe, US, Canada, Asia, Russia, Mexico and even Africa, touring with the like of Mike Patton (as the Zu/Patton quartet), also sharing the stage with Faith No More, Fantômas, The Melvins, Lightning Bolt, Sonic Youth, The Ex, and countless others. They have also collaborated with a vast number of musicians including Mike Patton, The Melvins, DÄlek, Jim O' Rourke, FM Einheit (Einsturzende Neubauten), Peter Brötzmann, Nobukazu Takemura, Eugene Robinson (Oxbow), Steve MacKay (The Stooges), The Ex, Thurston Moore, Stephen O Malley, Damo Suzuki (Can), Mats Gustafsson, NoMeansNo, Joe Lally (Fugazi).
Five years since their last full length on Ipecac, the critically acclaimed Carboniferous, and following a three year hiatus, Zu returned in May 2014 with the release of a brand new EP, Goodnight Civilization (Trost Records) and with a line up change that introduced the mighty Gabe Serbian, best known as the drummer for the legendary Californian band, The Locust.
In March 2015, Zu are preparing to release a brand new full length via Ipecac Recordings, entitled Cortar Todo, and recorded in the countryside near Bologna, Italy, in the summer of 2014. The album features some very special guests including keyboard player Joey Karam (The Locust), Italian guitar maverick Stefano Pilia (who plays regularly with the likes of Mike Watt, David Grubbs and Rokia Traore) and perhaps most unexpectedly, a field recording of an indigenous Shipibo medicine man recorded by Massimo during his travels around the Amazon.
Cortar Todo reveals new dynamics from the band, the album is more direct, sharp, focussed, and more intense and musical than anything we have heard from Zu so far. In addition to the album release, we can expect a long period of touring starting in Spring 2015.1. The Unseen War

Endangered Philosophies2LP gatefold with etched vinyl
Before Def Jux, before Death Grips, before Yeezus, there was DÄlek (Noisey). Pioneers of alt hip-hop, DÄlek (pronounced die-a-lek) features Rapper/Producer MC DÄlek, Producer/live electronics Mike Manteca, and Turntabilist DJ rEk . With roots in the mid-'90s DIY scene, DÄlek has been delivering groundbreaking albums for over 20 years. They have enraptured fans and critics across all genres, garnering fans and earning accolades from the hip-hop, electronic, indie, metal, shoegaze, jazz and experimental communities.
After releasing seven studio albums, numerous collaborations, EPs, and remixes, they continue to push boundaries with each release. Debut album Negro Necro Nekros (1998), was hailed by NME as a means to deconstruct hip hop, 2002 saw Ipecac Recordings release the game-changing From Filthy Tongue of Gods and Griots, which was followed by 3 more releases on Ipecac Recordings: Absence (2005), Abandoned Language (2007) and GutterTactics (2009).
In 2010, DÄlek went on a five-year hiatus to recoup from a decade of relentless touring, and to focus on new musical projects. In January of 2015, MC DÄlek said he missed the noise, and a tour and new single quickly followed. 2016 saw the release of the critically acclaimed Asphalt for Eden, which Pitchfork declared: hip hop ascends into the noosphere. DÄlek's sonic and lyrical evolution continues.
Endangered Philosophies is DÄlek's signature sound pushed in new directions. Re-sculpted to say all that needs to be said today. It is no one element, but rather an amalgamation of the lyrics, sonics, drums, noise, melody, bass, and turntablism, explains MC DÄlek of the new work. Endangered Philosophies is a very introspective record about very external forces. This isn't about one listen... it's about your evolving perception when you immerse yourself in the layers of sound and words. Endangered Philosophies is a record about the RIGHT NOW and yet will resonate differently each time it is listened to, in a word....timeless.1. Echoes of

BuzzzBrought together by their shared fascination of experimental music and noise, the San-Francisco-based loung-collage duo Tipsy is made up of Tim Digulla and David Gardner. In 1997 they released the retro-lounge themed Trip Tease which mixed up exotica and electronics with real instruments in a slickly surreal way. By lucky coindidence, it was released at the height of the breif lounge fad and turned out to be a surprise pop success, showing up in the background everywhere; obscure indie movie soundtracks, international soda and beer commercials and TV. Tipsy has finally assembled a much anticipated new album, Buzzz, more rhythmically oriented, less loop-heavy than before. Hold It InThe Melvins return with Hold It In, their first studio album as a quartet since 2010's The Bride Screams Murder. Joining Buzz Osborne and
Dale Crover for the 12-song outing are Butthole Surfers' guitar player Paul Leary and bass player JD Pinkus. Hold It In was recorded in both Los Angeles
and Austin earlier this year.
Hold It In is a refreshing piece of fiction in a boring world of fact and bullshit, said Osborne. Paul is one of the best guitar players I have ever heard and
Pinkus has an outside the box type of approach to both guitar and bass that you just have to let it ride. I can't believe this actually happened. I'm thrilled.
It's very rare you get a chance to work with three folks from the 'Break A Wish' foundation, all at the same time, said Pinkus. I believe they'll remember

The UnsembleThe Unsemble is an instrumental collaboration between Duane Denison of Tomahawk, Alexander Hacke of EinstÜrzende Neubaten and Brian Kotzur of The Silver Jews. Set to release their self titled debut LP via Ipecac Recordings, this supergroup is transcending far beyond their past projects and cultivating a brand new sound. When asked about the project, Denison stated in a 2012 interview with Rolling Stone: "We wanted to work on something that was typically not what we do." He continued, "something that's not so rock and riff-based and overdriven in that way."
From Rarely Unable PR:
The Unsemble, a 15-song collection recorded in Denison's adopted hometown of Nashville, meets the legendary Jesus Lizard guitar player's hopes of a more organic feel with the band effortlessly volleying between careful compositions and improvisation. The result is an album that is experimental, clever and inclusive of numerous subgenres and cultures.

Geocidaltetema is a new duo project from Mike Patton (FNM, Bungle, Fantomas, principle Zorn interpreter) and Australian composer/pianist Anthony Pateras (Thymolphthalein, Pivixki, Pateras/Baxter/Brown, Beta Erko). geocidal is audio caffiene injected direct into your eyeballs. Recorded across half the
continents on the planet, this record investigates the murder of place. Do borders even matter any more? Should we even leave the house? Is there any specificity left in this generalised cesspool of culture? Or has the tidal wave of digitally-fuelled apathy swamped any sense of tangible individuality? tetema
demand another universe to this one, and have built one especially for you.
Boasting a 12-piece all-star cast of incredible musicians and featuring special guest drummer Will Guthrie (absolutely slaying), tetema hand picked a devastating team of instrumental virtuosi to assist their quest to make indispensable music in the age of permanent refuse. As a result, geocidal brings the
most glorious noise, interrogating the deepest cosmogonies and malformations of man. It's true! Antique synths? Check. Outlandish orchestration? Definitely. Face-frying vocals wrapped in velvet? You know it.
If we could name some references for you to file this under, we would, but some application is eventually going to tell you what it sounds like anyways, so we won't. To us, it sounds like two maniacs in their respective studios having the time of their lives, rebirthing some of the most insane songcraft this side
of the godforsaken Miley-Cyrus worshipping millennium. So stop like-ing cat jpegs, stop drooling into your phone and listen to this freaking record - it will literally re-wire your existing perception of sonic possibility, although that's probably underselling it. Mini MansionsOn a break from Queens of the Stone Age, Michael Shuman melded heads and locked arms with longtime friends Tyler Parkford and Zach Dawes in a dusty room in the San Fernando Valley. Here, they began a collaborative sÉance out of which birthed Mini Mansions in January of 2009. Though their triangle is usually confined to piano, bass, and a cocktail drum kit, the LA-based trio generates a technicolor spectrum of sound drawn from the baroque, gothic, psychedelic, and cinematic realms. Great Phone CallsDespite his appalling comic timing, muddled delivery, and cliched material, stand-up Neil Hamburger nevertheless emerged as one of the most acclaimed
and name-checked comedians of his generation; like Lenny Bruce before him, he was a hipster icon whose trailblazing riffs defied conventions at every
turn, transcending the confines of hilarity with kamikaze recklessness. Prior to his ascendance, comedians were expected not only to be funny, but
insightful as well; Hamburger changed all that forever, in the process earning so much respect from our cultural tastemakers that his records appeared

Houston Publishing Demos 2002Mark William Lanegan is an American alternative rock musician and singer-songwriter.
'The Pilgrims' is an intriguing mix of dark blues vocal, swinging percussion and post-punk guitar, 'I'll Go Where You Send Me''s alt-Americana wouldn't feel out of place on a David Lynch record and 'Blind' is a fine example of slow-paced psychedelic heaviness that fits in neither period of his canon but provides a neat keystone to keep the whole thing as neatly balanced as it can be. It all finishes with the strangest duo of songs; 'A Suite For Dying Love''s coda is as joyously uplifting as anything that he's ever been involved in, while closer 'Way To Tomorrow' (featuring a truly mighty vocal performance) is as bleak and despondent as you could hope for from his Dark Mark persona. - Si Forster, echoesanddust.com$18.99Vinyl LP - Sealed Buy Now
A Raw YouthThe focus of the album is the recurring conflict between minorities (the raw youths) and society: The oppressor and the oppressed. Each song is a different story of a youth from a different era. Some of them want to die because their faith in humanity has ended, some want to fight the authority, think outside themselves. 'Sold Less Than Gold' reflects the story of women who are sold into marriages or into sex slavery and how resilient their spirits are. Despite the different time periods, history repeats itself. There will always be conflict and sadly, despite the rebels in our history, there are people that are zombified. NevermenThe unlikely union of TV on the Radio singer Tunde Adebimpe, Faith No More frontman Mike Patton and rapper Adam Doseone Drucker - who call themselves Nevermen - will finally release their self-titled debut! The trio's first single is the quirky, cinematic avant-pop single Tough Towns. Five minutes of eerie synthesizers and understated hip-hop beats, the song boils down to a single sentence that the singers all recite about persevering out of a small town: It's where everything you never want keeps coming from.
'Tough Towns' is dedicated to anyone remotely young, feeling inexplicably inspired in the 'nowhere' they are from, says Drucker, who was born in Napa, Idaho, but grew up bouncing around between New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia. Basses LoadedIt's 2016 and the Melvins have an album called Basses Loaded coming out that features six different bass players. That's right SIX different bass players. NEW Melvins bass players for this go around are Steve McDonald from the legendary Los Angeles glam punk band Redd Kross and their old friend Krist Novoselic from Nirvana! Making return appearances are former and probably future bass players Jeff Pinkus (Butthole Surfers), Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle/Fantomas), Jared Warren (Big Business) and Dale Crover.
Six bass players? Is this a joke? What IS the deal with these ceaseless idiots? Can't they just settle in and be happy with ONE line up?
I suppose it figures considering how many goddam bass players they've had up until this point.
Nonetheless Basses Loaded actually works!
According to King Buzzo, "More is more! As hard as it might be to believe, all of these bass players contribute something of their own to Basses Loaded which gives the whole album a good kick right in it's big fat ass."
Recording with Krist Novoselic is something that should have happened a long time ago but rumor has it that he's been busy doing things like playing bass with Paul McCartney and getting his ass inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's hard to believe he even bothered with this! Ha!
Butthole Surfer and Honky member Jeff Pinkus played on the Melvins' album Hold it In and has done shit load of touring with the boys in the last few years.
Trevor Dunn recorded the Freak Puke album with these guys as well as played bass on the Melvins' record setting US tour where they played all 50 states plus DC in 51 days. This was also released as a tour DVD last year entitled Across the USA in 51 Days, the Movie!
Jared Warren is a Melvins' veteran having recorded the Senile Animal, Nude with Boots and The Bride Screamed Murder albums as well as the Bulls and the Bees EP. Dale Crover is usually the Melvins drummer but slid over to bass when they brought back original drummer Mike Dillard for the Tres Cabrones album (this line-up was called Melvins 1983).
Steve McDonald has been in Redd Kross since he was 11 and he's a founding member of Los Angeles hardcore band OFF! plus he's got REALLY good stories about the "rock scene" in Los Angeles! The Melvins have a shit load of touring planned with Steven this year so this whole thing is a really big deal.1. The Decay of Lying (Steve McDonald)

Socal Band Features Dave Lombardo (Ex-Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, Misfits), Mike Patton (Faith No More, Tomahawk), Justin Pearson (The Locust, Retox) And Michael Crain (Retox, Festival Of Dead Deer)
Dead Cross emerged out of a series of impractical schemes, fallen-through plans, and last-minute musical experimentation. Shows were scheduled before a single song was written, fans were formed before even one show was played. The chaos of its creation seems apt; after all, the band is comprised entirely of artists who have thrived playing tightly-coiled turmoil-intelligent dissonance disguised as disorder. Consisting of Dave Lombardo, Justin Pearson, Michael Crain, and Mike Patton, the impressive, expansive, and eclectic list of prior bands collectively played in would be enough to ensure the unyielding ferocity of the music... but a resume isn't necessary, here. YPLLEpitaph is proud to announce YPLL,the label debut of southern California's
RETOX. With members from both the LA and San Diego noise and punk
scenes, including frontman Justin Pearson from cult favorites The Locust,

Nick Zinner from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who guests on the album, and Mike

expands on the noise roots of its members, while looking back to classic
punk sounds from Black Flag and PIL to the surf twang of the Dead

The album features six tracks and runs 47 minutes, putting it more in line with Isis material like Holy Tears or Panopticon than the Deftones' 2012 album Koi No Yokan .
Chino Moreno may be going strong with Deftones, but this summer fans will be treated to his more atmospheric and moody side as he rocks out with his friends from Isis in the new band Palms. The group's self-titled debut is due June 25 via Ipecac Recordings and the album artwork and track listing for the effort have now surfaced.
Along with Moreno, Palms features Isis bassist Jeff Caxide, drummer Aaron Harris and guitarist Bryant Clifford Meyer. The Isis trio began working on the music after their band dissolved and reached out to Moreno to provide vocal assistance.
So far, the track 'Patagonia' has surfaced online, giving audiences a taste of the atmospheric musical expanse that's in store. In addition to 'Patagonia,' the six-song EP is filled with epic tracks, with 'Tropics' being the shortest clocking in at just under six minutes.1 Future Warrior

found its feet as an aggressive verbal onslaught on all that is contrived and connected to the day-to-day hammer of low paid employment and domestic
situations arising from that trap. After a year of working ideas out in both the studio and in live performances, Williamson moved south and took the cause
to London for a couple of years and trod the boards there for a couple of years, before returning to Nottingham in 2009.
Soon after that return he met Andrew Fearn and the Sleaford Mods became a duo. Fearn's first work was on the production of "Wank" - the Mods' fifth album. Soon after that started stalking the stage and studio with Williamson. Andrew's involvement meant that Jason was now able to stop creating
the samples and loops that littered the early recordings and concentrate on the lyrics, whilst Andrew created numerous tunes for Jason to vent his spleen
Just after the release of "Wank" the duo were invited to play a three day festival curated by Nottingham's Rammel Club. During that weekend a working
relationship with Nottingham's abstract-punk Harbinger Sound label was formed. A relationship which - a year later - resulted in the release of the
"Austerity Dogs" vinyl album. This release would be followed by numerous shows around the UK and Europe, including further festival appearances. As
word- of-mouth praise for the album slowly spread out and onto the record-buying publics' radar, "Austerity Dogs" soon sold out of its intial run of 300
copies and has gone one to, as of today, a fourth pressing of the vinyl edition was also released. Rave reviews would start to appear in
magazines as diverse as The Wire and Uncut, along with interviews being published both on paper and on-line, both here and abroad. The album
featured, and topped, many writers polls for the best records of 2013.
Somewhere between punk, hiphop and spoken word lie UK duo Sleaford Mods. (They are neither mods, nor from Sleaford. They're from Nottingham.)
Jason Williamson spews a tapestry of bile over low-tech, muscular backing by Andrew Fearn, the result is somewhere between The Fall, McClusky,
Happy Mondays and John Cooper Clark. The pair have been making music for eight years now but really started to get attention with last year's terrific
Austerity Dogs and look to go even wider with the just released Divide and Exit. On it Sleaford Mods are in full rebellion mode. Williamson hold equal
contempt for the rich, conservatives, liberals, phonies in general, idiots, jolly fuckers, etc all via a nonstop torrent of brilliantly, hilariously profane lyrics.
Ipecac Recordings will be introducing the coolest thing to come out of the UK in a long time. With the release of a compilation from
Sleaford Mods titled CHUBBED UP+. Sleaford Mods are a stripped down, political, electronic punk-hop band from working class Nottingham. This stuff is
