Something More Than Free is the follow up to Isbell's 2013 celebrated breakthrough album

150,000 copies. Isbell was the subject of stories in outlets ranging from The New York Times
Magazine and Wall Street Journal to NPR's All Things Considered and Fresh Air with Terry
Gross (See Highlights). Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit made multiple television appearances, including
The Late Show with David Letterman, Conan and Austin City Limits. Isbell won Artist of
the Year, Song of the Year ("Cover Me Up") and Album of the Year at the 2014 Americana Music

    Southeastern

Southeastern, the new solo album from Jason Isbell, contains 12 new Isbell compositions and the most personal songs of self-reflection and discovery he has written to date. The lyrics of the beautiful and haunting opening track Cover Me Up, make it immediately apparent that Isbell is speaking from an entirely new viewpoint. The song features his strongest vocals to date, but also kicks the door to his soul wide open for all to see. Isbell struggled, fought his demons, and has remained sober for over a hear now. Also, he was recently married and has entered the next chapter of his life. However, Southeastern is not an album preaching sobriety, but a work of repentance, self-realization and most importantly, personal growth.

By no means is Southeastern a wholly solemn offering. Tracks such as Stockholm (with Kim Richey) and Traveling Alone (with Amanda Shires) offer laid back tempos and memorable choruses, while Flying Over Water and Super 8 are strong reminders of Isbell's deep roots in rock. The poetic and deeply intimate lyrics are the common thread that runs throughout the album, perhaps no better illustrated than on Live Oak.

    Live From Alabama (Awaiting Repress)

In August of 2012, Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit assembled in their home state of Alabama in front of a couple of sold-out concert halls to record their first live album, Live From Alabama. After years of hard touring, the critically-lauded band has gelled into a versatile rock and roll squad that is equally at ease performing Muscle Shoals soul to hardcore country to balls-out rock. Live From Alabama's tracklist mines some of Isbell's most popular songs and includes a pair of inspired covers in Neil Young's Like a Hurricane and Candi Staton's Heart on a String.

    The Nashville Sound

Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, guitarist Jason Isbell and his mighty band, the 400 Unit, have announced the release of their highly anticipated new album, The Nashville Sound (Southeastern Records/Thirty Tigers). The Nashville Sound is the follow up to 2015's critically acclaimed Something More Than Free, which won two Grammy Awards (Best Americana Album & Best American Roots Song, "24 Frames") and two Americana Music Association Awards (Album of the Year & Song of The Year, "24 Frames"). See Highlights.

Without exaggeration, Jason Isbell has become one the most respected and celebrated songwriters of his generation. He possesses an incredible penchant for identifying and articulating some of the deepest, yet simplest, human emotions, and turning them into beautiful poetry through song. "There's no better songwriter on the planet at this moment, no one operating with the same depth, eloquence or feeling," says American Songwriter Magazine. Isbell sings of the every day human condition with thoughtful, heartfelt, and sometimes brutal honesty, and the new album is no exception.

The Nashville Sound features 10 new songs that address a range of real life subject matters that include politics and cultural privilege ("White Man's World"), longing nostalgia ("The Last Of My Kind"), love and mortality ("If We Were Vampires"), the toxic effect of today's pressures ("Anxiety"), the remnants of a break-up ("Chaos and Clothes") and finding hope ("Something To Love"). Songs such as "Cumberland Gap" and "Hope The Highroad" find Isbell and his bandmates going back to their rock roots full force.

The Nashville Sound was recorded at Nashville's legendary RCA Studio A and produced by Grammy Award-winner Dave Cobb, who produced Something More Than Free and Isbell's celebrated 2013 breakthrough album Southeastern. The Nashville Sound is the first official Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit album since 2011's Here We Rest. The 400 Unit features Derry deBorja (keyboards), Chad Gamble (drums), Jimbo Hart (bass), Amanda Shires (fiddle) and Sadler Vaden (guitar).

Jason Isbell's music speaks to so many who often feel as though his songs were written specifically for them. Isbell's lyrics and sincere delivery cut to the core and make genuine, lasting connections. The Nashville Sound helps to remind us how music continues to unite and connect us all. It is a comforting thought at a time when understanding, compassion, and honesty seem to be an afterthought.

    The Sirens Of The Ditch

For the past six years, Jason Isbell was one of three frontmen for the critically acclaimed Drive-By Truckers and although fans may have been shocked by his departure from the band in April of 2011, once you hear this, his solo debut Sirens Of The Ditch (which was co-produced by Isbell and Patterson Hood) it will only confirm that Isbell by no means is putting his feet up. Musicians joining Isbell on the album include Shonna Tucker (bass) and Brad Morgan (drums) with cameos from Patterson Hood, his father David Hood, Spooner Oldham, John Neff and more.

Recorded over the past four years at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals (Aretha Franklin, Duane Allman, Otis Redding), Sirens Of The Ditch is a diverse collection of songs that incorporates elements of rock, blues and soul music into a heartfelt mix of songs that favor piano and pedal steel over buzzing guitars, although theres a fair share of overdriven amps here as well. A lot of old soul musicians came through here in the late 60s and 70s and helped define the Muscle Shoals sound, the lifelong Alabamian explains, so that influence was always in my environment, but on this record I really tried to capture that.

    Here We Rest (Awaiting Repress)

Here We Rest is the second album from Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit and follow-up to their acclaimed 2009 self-titled debut. An Alabama native, Isbell comes from a tradition of Southern music. He proudly embraces his roots, which shine through in his songs and even in the title of the new album. Here We Rest was Alabama's original motto. However, instread of resting comfortably within its boundaries, Isbell, along with keyboardist Derry deBorja, guitarist Browan Lollar, drummer Chad Gamble and bassist Jimbo Hart transcend them. His thoughtful songwriting and warm, soulful voice are genuine, natural abilities that come through in the music.

"a strong debut, full of the kind of confident, charismatic songwriting that just can't be taught." - Pitckfork

"Isbell could be roots rock's Flannery O'Connor." - Spin

The debut album from accomplished guitarist and songwriter Jason Isbell,
formerly of Drive By Truckers (DBT), is reissued with 4 unreleased tracks
from the original recording sessions. The addition of those 4 extra songs
finds Sirens Of The Ditch clocking in at 15 total tracks.

Sirens Of The Ditch's mystical quality can be partially attributed to the
FAME recording studio (Aretha Franklin, Duane Allman, Otis Redding) in
Isbell's hometown of Muscle Shoals, AL where the album was recorded.
Co-produced by Isbell and Patterson Hood (DBT), Sirens Of The Ditch
features Isbell singing lead vocals and playing guitar throughout, joined
by Shonna Tucker (Formerly of DBT) on Bass and Brad Morgan (DBT)
on drums. Several musicians pop in for cameos including Spooner Oldham
and David Hood (Patterson's father) on "Down In A Hole", John Neff (Formerly

Dead Man's Town: A Tribute To Springsteen's Born In The U.S.A.

2014 marks the 30th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen's 'Born In The U.S.A.'
Although it would become his biggest selling album with seven top 10 singles
on the Billboard Hot 100, Luther Dickinson of North Mississippi Allstars
says "any of those songs could be played with acoustic guitar alone and
still be great." Taking this idea as its premise, 'Dead Man's Town: A Tribute to
Born in the U.S.A' strips the album's twelve indelible originals to the core, with
contributions from Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires, Low, Nicole Atkins, Justin
Townes Earle, Blitzen Trapper, Joe Pug, Trampled by Turtles, and more. Rolling Stone premiered Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires' Dave Cobb-produced
cover of "Born In The U.S.A," saying these artists are "reimagining 'Born in
the U.S.A.'... with a reduced approach more influenced by that of the acoustic
    'Nebraska.

Isbell says of his cover, ""Born In The U.S.A." is one of my favorites
because so many people have seemingly misunderstood the lyrical content
and the song's overall tone. When you listen to the demo, the dark, minor key
arrangement makes it clear that this is not strictly a song of celebration.
We wanted to stay true to that version." Amanda Shires adds, "I love that
the song paints a picture of struggle in the face of the American dream, and
the irony in the chorus is delivered with such force that it nearly
    transcends irony altogether."

All I Ever See In You Is Me

Jillette Johnson is the rare artist who needs little sonic accompaniment to make an indelible impact. Produced by Dave Cobb (the Grammy Award-winner known for his work with Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson), Johnson's sophomore album All I Ever See in You Is Me offers up sparsely orchestrated songs centering on her spirited piano work and ever-changing vocal texture, an instrument that's irresistibly powerful whether she's belting out a refrain or whispering a hushed melody.

Like only the most timeless songwriters, Johnson finds infinite depth within that simplicity. Recorded at RCA Studio A - the historic Nashville space where Dolly Parton laid down 'Jolene' and 'I Will Always Love You' in the same three-hour span - All I Ever See in You Is Me bears an unhurried pace and warm intimacy that echoes the purposeful looseness of its production. Drifting between hazy romanticism and resolute self-awareness, Johnson examines heartbreak and resilience with a willful and magnetic vulnerability.

    Down Fell The Doves

Amanda Shires landed everywhere from NPR's Tiny Desk to the Grand Ole Opry to the cover of Texas Music as their Artist Of The Year in 2011. Now she's back with 'Down Fell The Doves' set for release via Lightning Rod Records. The album's 11 original songs feature Amanda's sharpest writing to date, brought to life by a voice that melts, a fiddle that sears, and guitars - played for the most part by her husband, Jason Isbell - that scrape and howl.

Shires has blossomed into a truly original voice with 'Doves,' which was produced by Andy LeMaster (Bright Eyes, REM) and recorded at his Chase Park Transduction studio in Athens, GA. Bulletproof ponders invincibility with the help of a Siberian tiger claw. Wasted and Rollin' casts a deep, impressionistic fog. For Deep Dark Below Shires' attention shifts to the underworld, where the devil plays fiddle with a bow made of bones. Song for Leonard Cohen has a softer touch, imagining a drunken evening stroll with the master songwriter.

Now based in Nashville, Shires began playing fiddle at age ten in Texas. By 15, she had joined the Texas Playboys, former backing band of western swing pioneer Bob Wills. More recently she has toured and recorded with Snider and Justin Townes Earle who says, With a voice that whispers Dolly and lyrics that scream Faulkner, this girl shines like a diamond.

The third full-length release from L.A.-based duo HONEYHONEY, 'III' is an album born from fascination with the sweet and the sleazy, the light and dark, the danger and the magic. Since Ben Jaffe and Suzanne Santo released the critically-acclaimed 'Billy Jack' in 2011, they've kept on the road, growing their fan base tenfold both at home and internationally. Working on this new album with Dave Cobb (the producer behind Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson), lead singer/banjo player/violinist Suzanne Santo and vocalist/guitarist Ben Jaffe twist their gritty, harmony-driven brand of Southern-flavored rock & roll through tales of lost souls, broken boys and girls with gold in their spit. The two songwriters also take a mirror to their own experience in lust and heartache - never shying away from revealing the messy truth. This album reflects their continued growth, and holds nothing back. It's easy to understand why HONEYHONEY's following ranges from lovers of the Black Keys and White Stripes to The Civil Wars. Whether they rattle, soothe or joyfully inspire, HONEYHONEY instill each song with a straight-from-the-gut honesty and elegance of storytelling that make 'III' both cathartic and electrifying.

    New Lore

    NEW LORE - THE ALBUM:

I've always been tied to the idea of having each record sound different from the one before it, and there's no exception with this one. My writing on this one is really reflective of the story that I've been living out over the past few years--as a musician, a father, and a human trying to navigate this crazy world. It's also the stories that we all share: the everyday stuff, and the big stuff. As always, I poured my heart into these songs. When I came across the opportunity to link up with an internationally acclaimed producer who I have long admired, I knew he would be able to add some deep mojo to the recordings.

Matt Ross-Spang (Grammy-Winning engineer of Jason Isbell's Something More Than Free, one of my favorite records of last year) is a musical Willy Wonka, and his Chocolate Factory is the legendary Sam Phillips Studio in Memphis, TN. This place has an unmatched soul and a vibe that stems from the history of Memphis as a haven for many of my musical heroes. I'm incredibly honored and excited to have worked with Matt and the team at Sam Phillips to make this record the best that it can be.

    Overlook

    Includes CD

Maria Taylor has been beguiling listeners since 1997, from her start in Little Red Rocket as a teenager to her time spent as half of the acclaimed duo Azure Ray to her career as a solo artist. Shes released a trio of varied, accomplished, and successful solo albums over six years; 2005s 11:11, 2007s Lynn Teeter Flower, 2009s LadyLuck and in 2010, after a six-year hiatus from Azure Ray, she reunited with Orenda Fink for the bands fourth album, Drawing Down The Moon.

Taylors journey has carried her from hometown Birmingham, AL, to Athens, GA, to Omaha, NE, and to Los Angeles, CA, and on tours all over the world. Guided by an indomitable inner compass, her instincts called her home to Birmingham in early 2010. She packed her things in LA and drove southeasterly, unsure exactly why but heading back to her family and to the South, which has always greatly influenced her music.

It was surprising to Taylor then, that after buying her first house and settling in, she was unable to write any songs for an entire year. Concerned, but busy with touring and promotion around Azure Rays new album, she carried on. Then last December during a month-long break, she finally wrote a song, the ruminative and haunting Happenstance, and the floodgates opened. Taylor hid away in her bedroom for two weeks, writing and demo-ing the nine songs that now make up her lush fourth LP Overlook.

With a distinct, raw sound in mind, Taylor self-produced for the first time and called upon friend and neighbor Lester Nuby III (Verbena, Vulture Whale) to engineer Overlook. She sought to capture the sound of the South, of Alabama and its music scene, enlisting a host of local musicians to flesh out the album and lend their personalities to the songs. These contributions proved invaluable: Browan Lollar (Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit) handled lead guitar on all tracks, while adding acoustic and lap steel throughout; brother Macey (The Mystic Valley Band, A.A. Bondy) played bass on the entire record, adding banjo, organ, and keys; and Nuby provided his formidable drumming skills on two tracks, while Taylor herself played the remaining drum parts. Sister Kate played and sang on a couple of songs, including Matador, and dad Macey, Sr. played mandolin and sang on Bad Idea?, which was recorded completely live after only a few practices, simply seven of her close friends standing in a circle, making music. The sessions ran loose and easy, with family and friends often stopping in and spending time as she recorded. Taylor even hired LA-based but Birmingham-native Daniel Farris to mix the album, and her friend, local artist Margarette Simmons, designed Overlooks artwork.

In addition to tracking many songs live, Taylor kept a number of her own demo tracks (drum, guitar, keyboard) recorded in her bedroom straight to her computer without a microphone, in the final songs; the result maintains the unguarded honesty captured in the first moments of creation.

Much of Overlook is about the searching and uncertainties that come with growing up and growing older. The songs vary in sound from alluringly bold and immediate, and softer contemplation. Masterplan is the taut, simmering intro to the albums richness, all thundering drums, jangly guitar, and soaring keys, as Taylors evocative vocals haunt like a warning bell. Matador then shifts gears to a sultry, lusciously modern take on 60s pop strut unlike anything shes written before. Relationship gone-sour tale In A Bad Way follows later in the album and shares a similarly seductive, but looser, groove. The old-time shuffle of Bad Idea? could have been heard in a 1920s speakeasy, while the sunny guitars of This Could Take A Lifetime belie the dark and longing ache found within the songs bedrock. All through Overlook, Taylors voice is illuminating, drawing listeners in with its warm and resolute yet vulnerable grace.

The Tree Of Forgiveness (Awaiting Repress)

The highly-anticipated album, The Tree of Forgiveness, is Prine's first collection of new material since 2005's Grammy-winning Fair and Square. Rather than going out on a limb, Prine cultivated the themes that have brought international acclaim since the 1970s. For example, he can take a topic like loneliness and make it funny or heartbreaking.

Prine teamed with Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb to record in Nashville's historic Studio A, enlisting friends like Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, and Amanda Shires to sing along. The songs are new, although some had waited to be finished for decades, like a co-write with Phil Spector called 'God Only Knows'; Another incomplete song, 'I Have Met My Love Today' now celebrates the unexpected spark that leads to lifelong romance -- with a dash of youthful innocence. The musical arrangements may be simpler than on past efforts, yet his unique ability to distill complex emotions into everyday language remains fully intact.

    Early Morning Shakes

Loud and proud, they sing about what they know with a refreshing directness and clarity. Some call it rebel music, but it's more like everyday soul. Their songs are stories, with relatable characters and situations. Stories of celebration, of mourning,
of trials and triumph. Through the quality of these songs, and the band's undeniable power in concert and on record, Whiskey Myers has attracted a devoted army of outspoken fans who pack venues, sing the band's praises online, and continue to make them a growing word-of-mouth sensation. And now, they stand poised to unleash the thrilling Early Morning Shakes upon the world. Their latest full-length was recorded with noted producer Dave Cobb (whose credits include Jamey Johnson, Jason Isbell, and both Waylon and Shooter Jennings) and represents the culmination of years of dedication, experimentation, and refinement. Visceral and dynamic, the album's 12 songs encompass an impressive range of perspectives and emotions - while finding the band's musicianship honed to a razor's edge. And though Early Morning Shakes is a great step forward creatively, it's an organic one. As guitarist John Jeffers explains, "Staying true to ourselves and to our music has gotten us to the point we're at. We really wanted to continue on that same track."

    Windfall

If the opening notes on Joe Pug's new LP "Windfall" are a bit disorienting, his fans won't likely be surprised. The Austin, TX singer songwriter has made a habit of defying expectations so the piano-driven "Bright Beginnings" and the atmospheric rumination of "Great Hosannas" are just further indication that he's quite comfortable stepping outside of the guy-with-a-guitar trappings of the genre.

His rise has been as improbable as it has been impressive. After dropping out of college and taking on work as a carpenter in Chicago, he got his musical start by providing CDs for his fans to pass along to their friends. This led to a string of sold out shows and a record deal with Nashville indie Lightning Rod Records (Jason Isbell, Billy Joe Shaver). As he toured behind "Messenger" (2010) and The Great Despiser (2012) it was with a band that looked as much like a jazz trio as an Americana band. "I never quite found a live band that captured what I was aiming for until I connected with Greg [Tuohey--electric guitar] and Matt [Schuessler--upright bass]. It was an arrangement that maybe didn't make a ton of sense on paper but 10 minutes into the first rehearsal I knew this was going to be my band." The following years would have them on the road for over four hundred shows, including stops at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and The Newport Folk Festival.
