James Taylor Greatest Hits
Cut From Analogue Masters
James Taylor was the archetypal singer/songwriter of the Seventies. His songs contained understated tenor vocal melodies backed by intricate acoustic guitar parts that drew on folk and jazz influences. His warm, personable, and precisely phrased vocals resulted in his unique talent being honoured in both the Rock and Roll & Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Released in 1976 Greatest Hits was Taylor's best-selling album of his career, selling over 11 million copies certifying it as a platinum album eleven times over, and a diamond album once over. October Road is singer-songwriter James Taylor's fifteenth album. It was released in 2002 on CD only. Reaching number four in Billboard 200, the album has been certified Platinum. Now available on vinyl for the first time!
That warm (if slightly deepened) tenor, singing in its odd accent which combines New England and the North Carolina Piedmont, and that acoustic guitar, with its sparkling, unhurried fingerpicking, remain the most prominent elements in the sound.
October Road finds Taylor seemingly intent on evoking his own past. The title track, of course, recalls his song Country Road, and Caroline I See You, (even if it refers specifically to his wife), inescapably echoes Carolina in My Mind. Throughout, on what seem like the most personal songs he has written in decades, Taylor appears to be commenting on a second chance he feels he has received.1. September Grass

FlagFlag is Classic JT: At-Home Folk Arrangements, Soft-Rock Coziness, Captivating Emotion
Narratives on 1979 Gem Peer into the Heart of Everyman and Everywoman
Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Sonics As Mellifluous As Taylor's Voice on a Cool Summer Night
JT and Dad Loves His Work Also Available on 180g LP from Mobile Fidelity
James Taylor was an interesting place when he recorded the colossally underrated Flag. Fresh off his double-platinum J.T. (also available from Mobile Fidelity), the artist who defines the singer-songwriter genre had just collaborated with Art Garfunkel and Carly Simon, undertaken a Broadway musical, and become more active in political affairs. All these factors contribute to this 1979 treasure, which finds Taylor plying more of his trademark mellow vibes and insightful, soul-gazing lyrics.
While Flag has been previously remastered for CD, its never been sourced from the original analog master tapes. Mobile Fidelitys brilliant-sounding 180g LP is, and the results are as spectacular as chilling out to Taylors mellifluous voice on a summer night. Flush with exquisite acoustic textures, beautiful tonalities, and studio-perfect dynamics, this audiophile version brings Taylors music to life like never before.
Having landed in the Top Ten and sold more than two million copies, Flag nonetheless remains one of Taylors most under-appreciated efforts. And its not because the content is lacking. The beloved singer enters his hallmark storytelling mode on Sleep Come Free Me and dizzies the senses with the beloved Rainy Day Man. Drawing from his musical Working (based on legendary author Studs Terkels book of the same name), Millworker and Brother Trucker are lessons in character studies, Taylors narratives peering into the heart of blue-collar America and reflecting his knack for the everymanand everywoman.
Similarly, a pair of coversUp on the Roof and Day Trippershow his knack for reverent interpretation as well as originality. Flag reveals why we love JT. The literary descriptiveness, at-home folk arrangements, soft-rock fireplace coziness, captivating emotion, faithful tones, and stellar sense of instrumental placement, be it backing vocals, nuanced percussion, pedal-steel guitar, or subtle horns, the latter courtesy of do-it-all saxophonist David Sanborn. Alas, many of these facets have long gone unnoticed.
Ever since its original release, Flag has been plagued with muddled sound. No longer. Mobile Fidelitys analog reissue unlocks the well-kept sonic secrets and floods the record with the intimacy and impact that have always lurked underneath the surface. Finally, Taylors finite acoustic playing, well-mannered melodies, reflective words, and refined singing are experienced as a whole. The amount of new musical information thats been uncovered will boggle the minds of even the most ardent Taylor fans.
Trust us: Flag is one of Taylors finest works. After three decades, hear it all for yourself. And discover what is certain to become of your new favorite records.

The Carnegie Hall ConcertFrom-the-Vault Live Release Captures Iconic Singer-Songwriter at Height of Her Breakout Period
Half-Speed Mastered from the Original Tapes: Intimate Sonics Make It Seem Like King is Sitting Five Feet Away
Stripped-Down Songs Teem With Warmth, Nuance, Emotion; James Taylor Also Appears
Every so often, a from-the-vault release captures our hearts, minds, and attention in such a way that its impossible not to tell all family, friends, and neighbors about its existence. Originally issued to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Tapestry, Carole Kings The Carnegie Hall Concert: June 18, 1971 is such a record, a fortunate document of an absolutely magical period in the singer-songwriters legendary career and a revealing look at the then-stagefright artist turning in a commanding performance just as she was becoming a superstar.
Half-speed mastered from the original tapes, Mobile Fidelitys numbered limited-edition 180g LP of this compelling concert album brims with liveliness, depth, dimension, detail, and transparency. The nuances of Kings spare performances and warm vocals emanate as if shes sitting five feet away. Stripped down even further than they are on the studio albums, songs breathe with palpable earnestness and emotion, the subtle differences from their more polished studio brethren allowing listeners an insight into Kings creative genius.
At the time of its recording, King still suffered from shyness and who could blame her? She had been accustomed to penning lyrics for other artists and sitting behind a desk in the Brill Building. Only recently did King strike out on her own and enter the public realm. This set encapsulates this contrast in thrilling fashion. Disarmingly genuine and daringly honest, The Carnegie Hall Concert: June 18, 1971 benefits from the inclusion of Kings nervous between-song banter that exposes who she is as a person and performer. Most importantly, despite her anxiety, she turns out stirring renditions of tunes from 1970s Writer, Tapestry, and even a few from Music.
Her control is demonstrated on the records six opening cuts, which feature King alone at her piano. For the remainder of the program, shes accompanied by guitarist Danny Kortchman, bassist Charles Larkey, and a string quartet, which enter and exit according to arrangement. As such, the concert is profoundly intimate and personal, an unplugged session that predated the use of the term by nearly two decades. Longtime collaborator James Taylor joins her for a memorable medley of some of her biggest hitsWill You Love Me Tomorrow/Some Kind of Wonderful/Up on the Roofthe chemistry evident of why the duos 2010 tour was one of the most in-demand outings in years.
Mobile Fidelitys remastered sound ties everything together and is what makes this release extra special. By going to the original source, the audiophile label considerably opens up the sonic perspectives, revealing the spacious acoustics of the famed venue that act in concert with Kings music. In particular, the songs from Writer benefit from the no-nonsense production. You can literally picture Kings piano beside her, and her voice sincere, tender, melodic is rich, full-bodied, and penetrating. Listeners can even hear it crack on occasion, the results a consequence of her nerves. Unpolished and non-synthetic, the performance is better for it.
No, they don't make albums like this anymore. The Carnegie Hall Concert: June 18, 1971 as real as it gets. And so is the sound. Get your collectible copy now!

We're All Gonna DieDawes' highly anticipated new album We're All Gonna Die will be released via the band's own HUB Records.
Of the album, Taylor Goldsmith (guitar, vocals) explains, "Pretty much every song on this record explores a difficult situation and tries to find a way to find the good in it, or at least remind yourself that it's not always that big of a deal. After all, as scary as it is, we are all gonna die."
The album was produced by Grammy nominated producer Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes) and includes backing vocals from Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe of Lucius, Mandy Moore and Will Oldham.
Dawes has toured extensively playing headline shows worldwide and major festival appearances including Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza and Newport Folk Festival. Recently, they have toured with My Morning Jacket, Bob Dylan, Mumford and Sons, Conor Oberst, and Jackson Browne.
In the fall of 2014, Goldsmith contributed to Lost On The River: The New Basement Tapes, an album project which found collaborators Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens (Carolina Chocolate Drops), Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes), Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Marcus Mumford (Mumford & Sons) and producer T Bone Burnett writing and creating music for a treasure trove of recently discovered lyrics handwritten by Bob Dylan in 1967 during the period that generated the recording of the legendary Basement Tapes.
Fellow collaborator Jim James proclaims about We're All Gonna Die, "The record sounds so fresh-yet fills me with a strange nostalgia for things that haven't happened yet...I hear it at the beach and blasting out of car windows on future summer nights...easily having become a natural part of people's lives."1. Few musicians can captivate with just their voice and guitar, but Keb' Mo' pulls it off on his fifth release The Door. It's as if DNA from Robert Johnson and James Taylor fused inside this singer-songwriter, simply known as Kevin Moore when he played guitar with Papa John Creach back in the '70s.
At 49 years old, Keb' Mo' has paid his dues. More importantly, he 's a compelling singer, a versatile stringman, and a fine songwriter. He's also one of the few best-selling artists today whose music genuinely deserves a big audience.
Keb'Mo' has a knack for advancing the pure Blues formula into uncharted territories. Take his remake of the Elmore James' classic "It Hurts Me Too." It's nearly impossible to make a synthesizer work in a Blues context, but Keb' Mo' finds a way on this track. On gentle numbers like "Anyway" and sophisticated compositions such as the jazzy "It's All Coming Back," Keb' Mo' also extends himself well beyond the Blues.1. The Door

The gold-selling Iowa hard rock outfit Stone Sour has sold over four million albums worldwide over the course of three full-length releases. Their self-titled debut and sophomore effort Come What(ever) May both exceeded Gold status, while 2010's Audio Secrecy debuted at #6 on the Billboard Top 200. Their arsenal includes number one singles such as Through Glass, Say You'll Haunt Me and Bother, and three Grammy Award nominations. Given those accomplishments, it'd be easy for the band-Corey Taylor [Vocals], James Root [Guitar], Josh Rand [Guitar], and Roy Mayorga [Drums]-to tread the same ground with very successful results.
Their new 15-track album, which follows their two part House Of Gold & Bones release was produced by Jay Ruston (Anthrax/Steel Panther) and was recorded at the Sphere Studios in North Hollywood, CA.LP 1

Circuital (Awaiting Repress)Acclaimed Band Goes Back to Kentucky Rock Roots on Scintillating 2011 Set
Adventurous, Organic, Focused, and Fun: Jim James and Co. Get Their Jam On
LPs Cut at 45PRM and Pressed on 180g Audiophile Vinyl: Excellent Sonics
My Morning Jacket's sixth studio album, the stunning Circuital, finds the band going back to its Kentucky rock roots while still mixing in tempered amounts of the experimentalist streaks on its two previous efforts. The album was recorded in Louisville, KY and Nashville, TN and co-produced by frontman Jim James and Tucker Martine (R.E.M., Sufjan Stevens, The Decemberists). The result is yet another reinvention of the group's sound that both forges new ground and maintains the distinct spirit of MMJ's previous genre bending work.
Critics were already praising the effort on the week before its release, and James has rarely expressed such open-minded admiration for his own work. Plus, the sound is riveting. And vinyl is the way to hear this excellent record, as the two 180g LPs are cut at 45rpm and housed in gatefold packaging. Includes poster insert with lyrics and inner sleeves with full color artwork.
Recorded in a Louisville church gymnasium, Circuital is just as adventurous, yet more organic and focused; when James sings, Play it smart, soul intact/How you react is what you'll get back, against lovely circular guitar shimmer on You Wanna Freak Out, he's like the beard-rock version of Coach Taylor from Friday Night Lights, showing the boys how to relax and channel their inner jam.

The [title track] is the centerpiece of what in the vinyl era wouldve been Side 1 of the album, with the tracks sequenced to melt one into the next. The ascending, trance-like Victory Dance, the undulating finger-picked guitar and yearning vocal of Wonderful (The Way I Feel), the surreal combination of Beach Boys-like vocals and pedal-steel guitar on Outta My Systemit makes for a brilliant start and raises expectations that My Morning Jacket has finally made its classic.
