Honey's Dead (Gold Vinyl)Limited Edition Gold Vinyl
Originally released in 1992, Honey's Dead is the fourth studio album from Scottish brothers Jim and William Reid. The title refers to one of the band's early hits, Just Like Honey and the complete departure from their earlier musical style. Honey's Dead was recorded and mixed in the band's London studio with famed engineers Alan Moulder and Flood. Alternative radio stations picked up Far Gone And Out which remains one of the band's most popular singles to date while the album's first single Reverence attracted some controversy for the lyrics I want to die just like Jesus Christ and I want to die just like JFK. Darklands is more accessible and hooky than Psychocandy, leaving most of the feedback and some of the noise behind to focus on the songs and to make a clear break from The Jesus And Mary Chain's legendary debut. With tracks such as April Skies, Darklands, Happy When It Rains and Nine Million Rainy Days, the Reids proved they had plenty of great songs in them and that they wouldnt be boxed in by the past. Chain Gang Of LoveImport
'Chain Gang Of Love', originally released in August 2003, is The Raveonettes' first full length album after they debuted with the critically acclaimed 'Whip It On' mini album in 2002.
Their sound has often been compared with that of the noisy and distorted Jesus And Mary Chain, while the Velvet Underground and even the vocal harmonies of the Everly Brothers are never far away either. The most noticeable difference in sound between the debut EP, which had all songs in B-flat minor, and this album is that here all songs are in B-flat major. The result is an album drenched in an uplifting fifties and sixties sound.
Because of this wall of sound you might expect a Phil Spector production, but Sune Rose Wagner himself (one half of the Danish duo which is The Raveonettes) and Richard Gottehrer (producer for a.o. Blondie and The Go-Go's, and founder of Sire Records) were responsible for this remarkable and uplifting release.Side A

Collision BlondeThe band's sophomore full length is backed by guitarist Will Allard, bassist Joseph Goode and drummer Ben Sears (who also plays alongside Allard in Whips/Chains). With a new line-up and some years removed from their young, violent hardcore days, Collision Blonde's instrumental prowess sounds less like their elder contemporaries and more a cleaner tone reminiscent of Jesus and Mary Chain and The Cure, yet sharp and uneasy in the vein of Bauhaus' early gothic post-punk edge. Tracks like "Knife" and the closing "Nosedive" are aggressively built up into a cathartic release, alluding to Ceremony, Iceage and mewithoutYou at times.
The band took a couple of weeks, held up in Allard's basement studio in late March, to record with fellow musician and friend Evan Weiss (You Blew It!, The Jazz June) who helped produce the album. While the music may allude to a heavier dream pop sound, it's still very much a hardcore record reminiscent of Dischord's blends of punk and harmony. Collision Blonde is a lyrical wreck that's driven by love, drugs, depression and waking up in a cold sweat wondering What's next for me? on a consistent basis. It's thoughtfully countered with a harmonic jangle of reverb, delay and hooks, as Xerxes has created their most polarizing work to date.1. I Was Wrong

London based trio Flowers ends their live shows with singer Rachel Kenedy utterly still, accompanying herself on a one string bass guitar, soul laid bare. It is a stark and quiet moment in comparison to what came before, which can be characterized by Sam Ayres blur of kinetic energy on guitar and Jordan Hockley's urgent and precision drumming all performed with a sense of minimalism and brevity. It is this minimalist approach that best characterizes the fourteen deceptively simple pop songs that comprise Flowers debut, Do What You Want To, It's What You Should Do.
Produced by Bernard Butler, Flowers' genius is in their ability to convey a remarkable amount of emotion with minimal instrumentation. Rachel possesses one of those beautiful pop voices to die for, with echoes of Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins), Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star) and Harriet Wheeler (The Sundays). Picture YouPicture You, inhabits an aural landscape that's all its own: a panoramic, constantly evolving spectacle marked by layers of intertwining guitars, richly textured keyboards and a rhythm section adept at skewed tempos and a tendency to veer off in unexpected directions.
Christoffer Gunrup's anguished croon drifts through the slowly intertwining melodies of "Broken", which concludes in a hushed pastoral interlude of voice and chiming guitars. "Safe Island" floats on a sea of reverb drenched feedback, while "The Headless Boy" drops a bit of folky Nick Drake-like melancholy into the mix. "British guitar stuff," Grunrup says dryly. "Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Jesus and Mary Chain - not that this song is as good as theirs, but it evolved it that direction."
As compelling and enigmatic as expected, Picture You has its own unique texture and timbre, but Gunrup, an ironic perfectionist who is always slightly dissatisfied with his work, would rather play music than talk about it. "I have no idea how to describe the songs [on any of my records]. I like and hate them all equally. If you theorize about the songs, it ruins the tension and passion. Just shut the fuck up and play, but play good."

Full Cold MoonCold Cave is the creative rebirth of acclaimed musician and writer Wesley Eisold. Cutting his teeth in underground bands American Nightmare (Give Up The Ghost) and Some Girls, Eisold's body of work has truly effected a generation of listeners. Through constant cross-pollination Eisold has gained mass appeal, influencing underground and popular culture with his ever evolving artistic vision.
With an already prolific number of releases, Cold Cave has become a name synonymous with the contemporary resurgence of Darkwave and Synth Pop sub-genres. Propelling Cold Cave to perform at world class museums The Getty and the Guggenheim, as well as performances with legends Sonic Youth, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Nine Inch Nails, among others.
Deathwish are proud to announce "Full Cold Moon" from Cold Cave, now for the first time on 12"LP vinyl format (a CD collection was released on Eisold's Heartworm imprint in 2014).
"Full Cold Moon" is a compilation of EP recordings originally individually released in 2013, now presented as one collection; "A Little Death to Laugh", "Oceans With No End", "God Made the World", "Black Boots", and "Nausea, the Earth and Me". Notably this is also the first vinyl appearance of the song "Dandelion" as well as the entire "Nausea, the Earth and Me" EP (previously only available on limited CD and Digital formats). Cursing The Sea (Awaiting Repress)Ships takes their fuzzy garage pop and colors it several shades darker, resulting in an ominous amphetamine-fueled dirge full of screeching guitars, metronomic basslines, and cooly detached vocals. The Girls' pare down their sound to its steely core on Ships, using angular guitar work to sharpen their sunniest melodies to a bleeding point, making this the most thrilling music they've released in their short existence." (Pitchfork)
Cursing The Sea, the debut album from Ireland's September Girls, is a dark kaleidoscope of echoey drums, buzzsaw bass, angular guitars and reverb-drenched vocals that blends garage rock and post-punk to extraordinary effect. Paula (Bass/Vocals), Caoimhe (Guitar/Vocals), Lauren (Keys/Vocals), Jessie (Guitar/Vocals) and Sarah (Drums) draw inspiration from the likes of Phil Spector, The Velvets, The Cure, MBV and The Jesus And Mary Chain and play reverb-soaked noise-pop of the finest order. Formed in Dublin in 2011, the band quickly began booking gigs in Ireland and the UK, before releasing a handful of well-received limited edition singles on various cassette and 7" labels around the world, most recently on the Haus of PINS cassette label run by their kindred spirits PINS, with whom the band have also toured. This release, for the song "Ships", gave the band their biggest press to date, with a glowing review on Pitchfork. With four different songwriters and singers, each song begins with a secret life of its own, only to be unified by the distortion-drenched harmonies and hazy pop stylings of the band.
Whirling around in a tornado of fuzz, dazzling harmonies, disarming lyrics and dizzying excitement, Cursing the Sea is awash with enough attitude and great songs to see September Girls safely to shore. Trompe Le Monde
The Pixies Trompe Le Monde On Numbered Limited Edition 180g LP From Mobile Fidelity
Pixies Swan Song Sparks With Electrically Charged Hooks, Outer-Space Atmospherics, And Eminent Tunefulness
Mastered From The Original Master Tapes: Restoration Turns 1991 Album Into A Sonic Blockbuster
Frank Black-led Set Includes Contagious Cover Of The Jesus And Mary Chain's "Head On"
The Pixies verged on commercial breakthrough when the now-iconic band released Trompe le Monde in September 1991. A sea change in popular music tastes that the band helped initiate began to sweep the world. And the Boston quartet seemed prepared to lead the way, with this, its eminently tuneful fourth record, jam-packed with crafty hooks, prickly tones, catchy elements, outer-space atmospherics, electrically charged energy, and delightfully quirky lyrics.
As it stands, Trompe le Monde takes its place as one of the finest swan songs ever recorded. If the Pixies wouldn't have broken up right after its release, there's no telling what would've happened. All that you need to know is that the 15-track effort is as hard rocking and brilliantly innovative as any of the group's creations. That's no small feat.
Mastered from the original analog tapes and pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's numbered limited edition 180g LP presents the ensemble's abrasively melodic landmark in a fidelity it's never enjoyed in any prior version. Featuring lusher keyboards and moodier soundscapes than its predecessors, but also reclaiming the nasty guitar edginess and swooning distortion of the group's earliest efforts, Trompe de la Monde finally comes across as the Pixies intended: A sonic bridge between college-rock's influential cruder-textured albums and the polished professionalism that distinguished alt-rock classics.
In other words, Mobile Fidelity's version presents it as the perfect-sounding album: Replete with grit, rawness, and character, but mixed in with radio-friendly smoothness and virtuosic professionalism. Awash with incredible timbres and tonalities, myriad new details rise to the surface. Listen to the counterpoint melodies and layered vocals on "Letter to Memphis"; the trash-compactor feedback and thumping bass during the whipsawing "Planet of Sound"; the "Spyhunter"-like pace and limitless depth now present on "Subbacultcha." Dynamics, contrasts, low-end frequencies, and imaging are all significantly enhanced. Compared to the original CD, Trompe le Monde emerges as a new album-a sonic wonderland that's not far removed from that of Nirvana's celebrated blockbuster Nevermind.
Musically, the Pixies were never better. On par with the groundbreaking Surfer Rosa and Doolittle, Trompe le Monde explodes with hyper riffs, jerks to stop-start progressions, elates with cheerful emotions, and bangs on to giddy surf-fused arrangements. With Kim Deal absent from the songwriting process, vocalist/guitarist Frank Black takes the reigns and doesn't disappoint. Tales about sea monkeys ("Palace of the Brine"), aliens ("Planet of Sound"), and love ("The Sad Punk") bop alongside memorable jabs at hipster pretensions ("Subbacultcha") and inflated egos ("U-Mass"). A contagious cover of the Jesus and Mary Chain's "Head On" will have you hitting "repeat." Power pop, wanderlust punk, theatrical glam rock, reconfigured reverb-laden country-all here, all encouraging repeat listens.
Nearly lost due amidst the alternative trend that it played such a key role in spawning, Trompe le Monde gets new life courtesy of this extremely punchy, greatly balanced Mobile Fidelity issue. If you missed it the first time, don't make that mistake again. Essential with a capital "E," and the perfect way to close Mobile Fidelity's Pixies catalog restoration series.

Lovers KnowAfter touring the world as a member of the Postal Service in 2013, Laura Burhenn (The Mynabirds) took a year to get lost. She drove across the US twice, toured South Africa solo, made her first appearance in London (also solo), and trekked all over Europe with William Faulkner's words ringing in her ears: "You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore." Finally she found herself in Los Angeles with a suitcase of songs to fill a whole new album. Lovers Know, The Mynabirds' third full-length release, was produced by Bradley Hanan Carter (Black English) and recorded over a yearlong period in Los Angeles, Joshua Tree, Nashville, and Auckland, New Zealand. It's definitely new territory for Burhenn, forging into 80s, 90s and futuristic soundscapes, recalling Kate Bush, Sinead O'Connor, The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine and even 90s hip hop and R&B. The album may be loaded with a fresh palette of new sounds (swarms of synths, gauzy electric guitars, and electronic drums), but her brooding, unmistakable voice leads the way. Lyrically this is her most personal and confessional work to date, and also her most accessible. Whereas her last album, GENERALS, watched from a wide angle to understand the world at a distance, Lovers Know pulls in close. "There's something about wandering the world over," Laura says, "that makes you realize how similar we all are - everyone searching for something, so often the same thing: love. It may sound trite, but it's true. Love - or the lack of it - is the thing we all have in common. It can destroy us. It can break us open and let the light in. And it's also the thing that can make us sing." Burhenn has released two previous albums as The Mynabirds on Saddle Creek, What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood (2010) and GENERALS (2012), both of which were produced by Richard Swift and met by critical acclaim.1. Hollywood Holidays: The Classic 1991 Radio Broadcast1000 Only Limited Edition
This remarkable release captures The Pixies at their finest, immediately before Christmas 1991, playing a show - broadcast by public radio network KCRW FM - at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
From the outset, this legendary New England four piece are at the very top of their game - opening with the savage rip-snorting blast of Rock Music, before powering into the gloriously riff-driven surf instrumental Cecilia Ann.
Even when pausing for breath, the slower numbers like Gouge Away and Subbacultcha are tough-as-nails and seethe with a barely contained fury. In addition to the usual Francis-Santiago-Deal-Lovering quartet, this performance benefits from the added keyboard wizardry of the mighty Ubus Eric Drew Feldman, who beefs up The Pixies live sound still further.
Eventually, Kim Deals dissatisfaction with Black Francis autocratic leadership style and almost complete domination of the songwriting credits, led to the band splitting apart in early 1993. They took an eleven year career-break - while Francis forged a solo career and Deal went on to achieve further success with The Breeders - and then reconvened in 2004 with the same line-up, albeit - save for a brace of digital singles and a contribution to the Warren Zevon tribute album - only in a live capacity. That much anticipated fifth studio album has yet to materialise.
This December 1991 set is naturally heavily weighted towards the bands then current record, Trompe Le Monde, which had been released just three months earlier in September. All but two of its fifteen songs are represented here - Space (I Believe In) and the title track being the only omissions.
Head On, originally by the Jesus and Mary Chain, is a rare cover version amongst the Black Francis compositions. The only other non-original here is Cecilia Ann, a number cut in the early 1960s by The Surftones. The latter was included on The Pixies 1990 album, Bossanova which also contributes Rock Music and Velouria.
Delving a little further back in time, Gouge Away, Crackity Jones, Wave of Mutilation and Monkey Gone to Heaven are all drawn from Doolittle (1989). Thematically linked - and played back-to-back here - are Manta Ray and Dancing the Mantra Ray, both originally only released as single b-sides. Finally, there is Ed Is Dead, the lone representative from The Pixies debut EP, Come on Pilgrim, released in October 1987.LP 1

AntisocialitesAntisocialites is the much-anticipated follow-up to Alvvays' 2014 self-titled debut. Across its 10 tracks and 33 minutes the Toronto-based group dive back into the deep end of reckless romance and altered dates. Through thoughtful consideration in basement and abroad, Alvvays has renewed its Scot-pop vows with a powerful new collection of manic emotional collage.
The album opens with the excellent strum-'n-thrummer 'In Undertow,' a hi-amp breakup fantasy that is both crushing and charming for its level-headedness. You find a wave and try to hold on for as long as you can, you made a mistake you'd like to erase and I understand, sings Rankin, her voice full longing not for another person necessarily, but for what to do next. Meditate, play solitaire, take up self-defense, Molly continues, laundry-listing some strategies for moving on. What's next for you and me? I'll take suggestions, she deadpans under crashing waves of feedback and Farfisa.
Replete with more songs about drinking ('Forget About Life,' 'Hey'), drugging ('Lollipop (Ode To Jim)'), and drowning ('Already Gone'), Antisocialites is a multipolar period piece fueled by isolation and loss. Perversely enjoyable dark drama springs from Rankin's phonetic twists, quick-sung rhymes and irreverent syllable-play. So morose for me, seeing ghosts of me, writing oaths to me, the self-described introvert sings on the Cocteau-pop stunner 'Dreams Tonite,' the song from which the album's name is derived. In fluorescent light, antisocialites watch a wilting flower.
Antisocialites details a world of ice cream truck jingles and radiophonic workshop noise, where Rankin's shining wit is refracted through crystalline counterpoint. 'Not My Baby' is a centerpiece, a meditation on the rapture of escape following the sadness of separation. Elsewhere, 'Plimsoll Punks' is the band's answer to Television Personalities' 'Part-Time Punks' and a winking surf opus indictment of the self-righteous who intend to condescend. Molly wrote the rapid-fire sugar stream 'Lollipop (Ode to Jim)' after singing 'Just Like Honey' with Jesus and Mary Chain. 'Your Type' is a beautiful primitive stomp about running around Paris with vomit on your feet post-Louvre ejection.
The record concludes with a movement that is at once stark and celebratory. On 'Forget About Life,' the apartment stands in disarray as undrinkable wine is inhaled: When the failures of the past multiply and you trivialize the things that keep your hand from mine, did you want to forget about life with me tonite? The resonant freaks in Rankin's tales don't find much resolve, but with equal doses of black humor and heartstring-tugging, Antisocialites rings a truer tone.1. In Undertow

Innerpartysystem's debut deftly toes the line between anthemic pop-rock and melodramatic electro-pop.
The origins of Innerpartysystem can be traced to 2002, when drummer Jared Piccone and vocalist Patrick Nissley attended school together in Reading, Pennsylvania. The duo started writing songs together, inspired by both their love of electronic music and hardcore punk. Piccone and Nissley then recruited multi-instrumentalists Kris Barman and Jesse Cronan to join the band and their sound moved further into samples and the electronic direction that can be heard on their debut.1. ADAD-SOC-6219xSian Alice Group
The title of their debut comes from its running time. It's an epic record that showcases the talent, range, and ambition of this young group, taking in elements of various genres and making them their own. Sian Alice Group's more classical inclinations show their willingness to tread their own path. Comparisons can be made to Arthur Russell, Angelo Badalamenti, and Steve Reich. The album features contributions from Douglas Hart (Jesus & Mary Chain), John Coxon (Spiritualized, Spring Heel Jack), and Brian DeGraw (Gang Gang Dance). Beautiful, lush, dreamy and ethereal, but there's a dark, rainy spookiness at its core that sets it apart from so many experimental groups out there - Vice.1. As the Morning Light

Darklands (Colored Vinyl)
Blue Colored Vinyl
The second album from the brothers Reid, originally released in 1987. Darklands is more accessible and hooky than Psychocandy, leaving most of the feedback and some of the noise behind to focus on the songs and to make a clear break from the legendary debut album. With tracks such as "April Skies", "Darklands", "Happy When It Rains" and "Nine Million Rainy Days" the Reid's proved they had plenty of great songs in them and wouldn't be boxed in by the past. An all out classic from the 1980s reissued on blue vinyl.1. Darklands
